So get your takes ready and come correct with that saying.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Let me welcome in my partner, Rob Parker. What's up man?
Speaker 5 (01:54):
What's happening? Mister Christmas Shawd? How are you?
Speaker 3 (01:57):
I am great? I am great. Your day going well?
Speaker 1 (02:01):
And yeah, just a crazy day as we can imagine,
as baseball is changing and making changes that I thought
I'd never see and pretty amazing.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
We're going to talk about it.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
But Josh Gibson now Chris the counting his stats in
the Negro leagues, and he is now the all time
career leader in batting, moving ahead of ty Cop, slugging percentage,
moving ahead of Baby Ruth and Ops, moving ahead of
Babe Ruth, and holds the all time single season records
(02:37):
in each of them.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
I did not know that.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
That's what did.
Speaker 5 (02:40):
That's what's being incorporated. That's the story.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
I'm surprised he doesn't lead in home runs Josh Gibson, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
No, because that he was a home run hitter.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah, but I think and Chris just to pull a
curtain back. I was a part of this review committee,
all right, mostly listening in and and hearing, like a
lot of people. It's about twenty or thirty people, thirty
people involved, and a lot of it was trying to
authenticate you know, box scores stories from black newspapers in
(03:12):
the day, Like they went through them to try to
count and figure out what they can count and what
they can't count. So they looked at a lot of
the stuff and these are the things that they're going
to go with.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
So you say he's the leader. You mentioned a few things,
but there was Batting average was so.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
Batting average three seventy two lifetime.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Three wow, yeah, seventy two his average RIB over his
fourteen year career. His average Take a guess at what
his average home runs were, I'd say over one hundred
and sixty two game season, you know they projected because
they didn't play as many games.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
I'd say sixty five.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Oh wow average?
Speaker 5 (03:56):
Oh average? Okay, no, no, no, you mean average.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
The fourteen average for yeah, yeah, I say forty five.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
What you're right on the money, forty five forty five
And I mean rob G dude, get your calculator out.
I don't know, I can't, so forty five times fourteen,
I mean that would probably that's that's gonna be close, right,
forty five times fourteen.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Wow, that's amazing news. I didn't thirty that. Yeah, it's thirty.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Okay, it's just come down, Chris. So it's it's it's
fresh and new. But we'll talk about it later. Just
how people are gonna deal with with the altering.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
Of Major League Baseball rules.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
It wasn't it wasn't their fault the black players, or
is it mainly I mean the records, the numbers that
are being incorporated, the ones that they can authenticate, not
not every single one.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Right, No, I think it's fair. I think it's good.
We'll talk about it. Like you said, all right, that's great.
Who you trashing, Rob.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
I'm trashing the Pacers.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
And I got it, Chris, that they were underman and
all kinds of stuff, But I just feel like they
should have won. They could have won two games, like
this could have been a series and for whatever reason,
folded turnovers. Just I'm trashing them for not making this
a series. Not that I thought that they would beat.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
The Celtics at all. But there were two games, Chris,
clearly they should have won.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Well, they absolutely should have won game one without quit.
That one wasn't even like, I mean, that's just not
close that they should have won that one. I still
think had they won that game, Rob, they're not winning
the series.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
No, No, I'm with you. I hear you.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
And look, they're a team that plays fast.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
They had the fastest first or second fastest pace in
the league. And I mean they they're almost like a
team the team version of Russell Westbrook, Like they just
keep playing fast.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
They don't understand time and score and win.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
To slow it down and milk the clock, they just
don't do it. And if they even tried, they turning
it over. So that's something something they need to learn
in this off season or or next season. And uh,
they'll be better for it. All right, Well, let's in
Jesus a couple of crew to super producer Rob g
Is in the house after vacation the last two shows
(06:17):
we have on the ones.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
They had a big family out here.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Because it was too rough for him. It was too
rough out there.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
I don't know what they expected, you know, what would
you expect air conditioning?
Speaker 3 (06:28):
And they had.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
They had nothing, no internet. Nothing.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
When you go camping, I mean, that's what you should have,
my goodness, not.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Camping if you have internet television.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
He didn't want to go camp and he wanted to,
you know, just just play around, all right. USC Chris

(07:04):
Dallas Mavericks up three to zero on the Minnesota Timberwolves
have a chance to close it out tonight, and I
one thing, Look, we've talked about it before, Rob Luka,
Doncic and how you know, obviously he's a tremendous player,
(07:24):
but would he be able to win a championship playing
the way he plays, being so ball dominant.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
It's just difficult to do. I contend.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
I think that's why Lebron hasn't won more championships because
he was ball dominant for much of his career, and
I think it's just difficult. James Harden, Rob, I mean,
he's at his issues in the playoffs, just not playing
as well, but he's ball dominant too, and obviously has
not won a ring.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
And one of the interesting things.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
In this postseason Rob is that Luka Doncic is not
dominating as much as far as usage rate, at least
as much as he usually does. Now here's the context, Rob,
Who do you think is the all time career leader
(08:20):
in usage rate in the playoffs?
Speaker 5 (08:24):
The all time Wow, James Harden?
Speaker 4 (08:30):
No, well, because remember Harden played some of those years
with Okac, so that's forward. His is Luca Luca thirty
six point eight for his career. I was thinking of Harden,
you know later on Oh yeah, no, I get it,
I get it. Second is Michael Jordan. And Rob, this
is kind of I mean, I had never even.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Really looked at like this.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
This is kind of more evidence of why Jordan's the goat,
because most players have not been able to have a
high usage rate and win and his youth right, He's
got the three highest and four of the five highest
usage rates of any person to win an NBA championship.
(09:21):
His usage rates, he's got the top three. He actually
had a usage rate of thirty eight one year ninety
three when they won it, then thirty seven in his
second championship, ninety two, and then thirty six point six
in his third or his last championship, and then Elijah
(09:41):
wayIn rob in ninety five at thirty five point eight,
and then Jordan thirty five point five in ninety seven.
So but I would argue this Michael Jordan's usage rate. Remember,
usage rate is the percentage of possessions that kind of
ends with you making the play. And I would argue
(10:02):
that Jordan's usage rate is different than some of these
other guys. And it's not to you know, boost Jordan
up or anything. But Michael Jordan did not over dribble.
Michael Jordan shot a lot right exactly. And today a
lot of guys would, like Luca Jordan would catch and
(10:25):
shoot a lot. He would too, dribbles, throw up a
mid range shot a lot. But the guys that tend to,
you know, have a high usage rate in today's league,
they they dribble the air out of the ball and
then shoot it. And that's a lot different. Nobody else
(10:45):
is touching the rock, nobody's really moving.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Use this percentage.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Here's the official definition, an estimate of the percentage of
team plays used by a player while they're on the floor.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
And Rob Luka Doncs to his credit.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
I think some of it is also Kyrie Irving being
there and give Jason Kidds some credit to because it
shows a shift in the offense a bit Luka Doncas.
This year, Rob his usage rate in the playoffs is
just thirty one point nine, which is way low for him. Obviously,
(11:24):
his last two postseason drop he had the usage rate
of over forty.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
So I think that is a part of why it
looks like they've got you. They certainly have a chance
to win this championship and looks like he's going to
go deeper than he ever has and reach the NBA
Finals for the first time. And so I think that's
good for Luke and I think that's how they need
to play.
Speaker 5 (11:51):
And did you mention the career low twenty two?
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Yep career two and.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
PR did you mention it?
Speaker 6 (11:58):
No?
Speaker 3 (11:59):
I didn't.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
PR.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Chris playoff career low of twenty two point zero. His
average coming in this postseason was over twenty seven. So
he's definitely doing less, but his team is winning more
so he's actually responded to what needs to be done
to win. And you know this is what this is
(12:21):
the move Because people question whether or not they could win,
whether other people could play with him right, because of
how much he has the basketball, it makes it tough.
And so far it's worked out for Dallas, and I'm
sure they feel good about where they are, considering Minnesota
was the new hotness and everybody you know was crazy
(12:42):
about them, and for them to be able to beat
them and maybe even a sweep, it might be a gentleman. See,
I'm gonna give Minnesota a game unlike the pace I got.
Minnesota win tonight too, Chris, I got when if they win,
you know, they get to go home. If they do win,
we'll see what happens, but I think they'll win the night.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Although I'm not over I'm not like feeling that confident
about it, but I'll pick him with you.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
Yeah, I'm with you. It ain't like the best I got.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
I got the Dodgers over the Mets is the best
bets shekel City, not the.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
T Wolves, right, because you don't know are they gonna
be deflated? You know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Is it like, yeah, you saying the right things, and
you might even be trying to psych yourself into thinking
you have a chance, but is deep down do you
really feel like, man, this thing is over and if
you do, then it's gonna show up Rob when the
game really gets hot and heavy. So yeah, So, Luka,
Doncic doing what it takes to win this championship or
(13:39):
at least winning the Western Conference, it looks like and
so good for him. You wonder to Rob this scene
And I know it's happened this season, but even last
year Jalen Brunston iveraged twenty four points. This seeing Brunson
Rob do the things he's done in New York, does
that wake Luke up a little bit?
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Right?
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Does that make you say, you.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
Know what, we had that guy here and he wasn't
able to be himself or you know, fulfit maximize his potential.
Let me make sure I allow Kyrie to do that.
I mean, you wonder, does that.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
You wonder you never know or just at some point
you just aren't sure that you can continue to do
the same thing Chris without the results.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
So maybe maybe.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Maybe that's that's what moved him to Journey of the Player.
It's not gonna work right, all right?
Speaker 4 (14:36):
A seven seven ninety nine on Fox Your turn to
weigh in. How much of a factor do you think,
Luka Doncic just cut in.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Usage rate last two postseasons.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
It was forty point four this year, all the way
down to thirty one point nine, and the team is
going further than ever.
Speaker 3 (14:55):

All right, it's The Odd Couple live from the tire
Rag dot Com Studios eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
You're turning the way in, do you think Rob? And
I think.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
Lucas drop in usage rate much welcomed, probably by a
lot of Mavericks fans and play and looks like even
I would say, those that want him to win want
to see him win. We think that's a big part
of why they could be on the road to their
first championship.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
What say you? Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox?
Speaker 1 (16:14):
All right, Marty in Kentucky. You're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
What's up? Marty?
Speaker 6 (16:19):
What bellas? How y'all doing great?
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Hardy? How are you?
Speaker 8 (16:23):
I'm good, I'm real good. I think Luca's usage drop
is definitely a plus. I think the addition of Kyrie
and the late edition this year of PJ. Washington are
two things that really helped that. I feel like he
can commit to becoming a better defender and giving effort
defensive lead the same for Kyrie. And when you give
(16:46):
effort a defense, I mean that's the first step of
defense as you versus you, and you versus you's effort.
And once you the funny thing is, once you consistently
give that effort, you start not only playing better, but
you start to becoming.
Speaker 6 (17:00):
A better defender.
Speaker 8 (17:01):
And because both of those guys can commit to that,
and there's a good team chemistry and Jason kids just
done a fantastic job. I think the usage going down
for both of them is beneficial for the teams.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
No, that's a great point about how not only on
the offensive end the effect, but defensively you got more
energy and you can commit on defense more.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
So that's a great point, great point.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
No doubt, and like like Marty said, and it looks
like it's working, Tony and Delaware.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
You're in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
What's up, Tony, Chris and Robert was popping.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
How are you man?
Speaker 3 (17:39):
We're good?
Speaker 9 (17:40):
Love the show man? Uh? Thank you want to pick
I want to pick it back on the previous callers.
I'd like to say that Luca and Kyrie compliment each
other courtesy of uh fish and kid. You know, the
only thing I can say is that, you know, before
we're saying that Luca wasn't that great defensively, I don't
(18:03):
want to give him, you know, first team all defensive However,
he is handling his business.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
And definitely better.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
But yeah, anybody's google at.
Speaker 9 (18:17):
All, of course, not not first team all defensives.
Speaker 6 (18:20):
I'm not going that far.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
No, okay, all right, thanks, that's all right, thank you,
Tony appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
Morale in Connecticut, you're in the couple of Fox Sports
rading Connecticut.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
You want that state. It could be near Boston, you
could be near New York.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Connecticut is too big for me not to know where
in Connecticut you are.
Speaker 10 (18:41):
I'm from Harford, Connecticut.
Speaker 5 (18:42):
Rocks from Harford, all right, I just want to know
what's up, all right.
Speaker 10 (18:47):
I think you got sick in a call, of course.
I want to say, lucas u is rain and being
down is always a great thing. It is needed affect
with him being injured right now at the moment, we
gotta get Tyrie and Flowers. I don't consider him a team.
I can sit him a one. They are one beat
Luca's on on the Fisher ratings. And if they plan't
want to one to get each other, harveyhead a dagger,
(19:07):
Luco and Maxim and vice versa. They basically at Matt
beating Heaven. Then you got to take of my call.
Speaker 5 (19:12):
All right, Look, and we appreciate it. We're on and
hard for Chris live up there. So that's that's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Now they're a great tandem, there's no doubt about that.
And if they can win this championship. They will definitely
go down as one of the greatest backcourts ever.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
If they win. It's rare rib that, like two guards
lead a team to a championship.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
You know, usually there's a big in there somewhere, and
so they would they would certainly deserve and get their
flowers if indeed they can pull this thing off.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
All right.
Speaker 4 (19:46):

Speaker 3 (20:20):
What up?
Speaker 10 (20:21):
Man?
Speaker 6 (20:21):
What's up? Brothers? Are y'all doing good?
Speaker 3 (20:24):
We are good? Now?
Speaker 4 (20:28):
I gotta ask you, I don't even remember who you
picked in this Western picked the Timberwies?
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Did you pick? I picked the t Wolves? We both
picked the t Wolves. How surprised are you?
Speaker 5 (20:38):
Most people did? I did not, but most people did.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
How surprised, are you?
Speaker 4 (20:42):
And let me also add this in there too. Some
people talk about this like it's a bad matchup, but
the games are really coming down to the end, and
one team stars have been clutched and the others have not.
The Wolves worst matchup, right, it's just that they can't
do in the clutch like Kyrie and Luca. But what
are your thoughts on how surprised and your thoughts on
(21:04):
that comment?
Speaker 6 (21:06):
Well, Number one, the bigs, which Minnesota is supposed to
have the best bigs, including the defensive player of the year,
they're not bigg Dallas's biggs are out playing them by
a mile lively uh. And what's his name, the Gaffert
Gaffert Gaffort. They're out playing Rudy Gobert and Karl Anthony
(21:30):
Towns by a mile uh. And what's happening is the
team is controlling the paint, is controlling the game. Right.
You got two sinners, one of them who's you know,
deficient offensively uh and Rudy Gobert. And then you got
one who refuses to play in the paint. He's a
three point shooter and he's terrible from that range, shooting
(21:52):
ten percent from from deep this series. So you have
a situation where everything that Dallas wanted the lane they're
getting and when it comes down to it, keep the
game closed. They have two of the best closers in
all of the NBA playing on one team. And it's
as simple as that. And Anthony Edwards, who you know,
(22:14):
talked a lot and you know, does a lot of
good press conferences and everybody you know, he's speaking like
he's him. Well he's not him because if you watched
him in this series, first of he's not shooting well. Secondly,
he doesn't have a spot. And what I mean by
that is great players have a spot that they can
get to when things aren't going right, when things aren't
working well, when their shot isn't off, when their shot
(22:36):
is off, they have a spot right free throw line
they standing for KD. Kobe Jordan was a high post
back to the basketball and getting too my spot. He
doesn't have a spot. So when he needs a bucket,
he takes one dribble too much to the to the paint,
jumps up in the air the defenders are there, ends
up rifling that thing back out thirty feet to somebody
(22:58):
at the end of the shot. Clocks for late that's
been their downfall, and that's been the difference in this game.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
I know everybody loved the Anthony Edwards and we're ready
to crown them, you know, after they beat the Nuggets.
And obviously he's twenty two, he's got great promise, great upside.
Speaker 5 (23:15):
But I think I think a lot.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Of people just were premature, Ephraim, and you got to
take your lumps, right, you got to build off of this.
It doesn't mean that even if they lose, which we
expect them to lose obviously, that they can't come back.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
But it ain't as easy as people think.
Speaker 6 (23:33):
Yeah, look, youth is wasted on the young man. Older man.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
Hey, as a guy was now sixty, I totally agree.
Speaker 6 (23:44):
You're right, of course, so he's twenty two years old.
The one thing you can't do as a twenty two
year old is be tired in the playoff game. He
wanted Kyrie first game, well, he got Kyrie and he
hasn't been since. Physically. It isn't good physically since then.
Gas at the end of the game, we know it.
You've got to go through these loves, young man.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
I was going to say, do.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
You think some of that he's never played this many games.
Speaker 6 (24:09):
It's too long.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
It certainly this emotional intensity. Yes, I do think it's.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
Play this far into the summer. He's not And it'll
come a time. It'll come a time. The longer they
go and the longer you know their their time is
coming and they can keep this thinge together. But as
you see coming down the stretch, Mike Connelly is the
guy that put up. The ball is in his hands.
He's the one directing the offense and making the decisions.
(24:34):
Not at man, and man is playing like a ladybug
man right now, like it's not working.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Did you right fourhand? Or that just came off the
top of it. Come on, man, you're supposed to have
some stuff. You go ahead.
Speaker 5 (24:54):
Yeah I did. But Chris, you just.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
You mentioned this thing come together eventually, do you believe?
Because I think one of the things that the Timberwolves
are going to have to really search their souls about
this summer is they have to decide is Carl Anthony
Towns good enough to be the second best player on
the championship team.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
What are your thoughts on that?
Speaker 6 (25:19):
No, I don't think so. I don't think you know what,
First of all, he's got to be smarter. Nobody gets
in foul trouble like he does, even in that Denver series.
I mean, why would you body check Joker thirty feet
away from the basket. But constantly he picks up early.
This is one minute into the game, two minutes into
the game, Like you've been in the league long enough
(25:41):
to know how valuable you are on the court. And
then hey, man, go stand on the block, man, because
whenever he attacks the basket, you can't stop him. He
just won't do it unless he can make that change
and develop that type of a D game. You know
how the Lakers go through a right like the high
(26:03):
posts get him the ball. If he's not willing to
do that, you've got to move off of him.
Speaker 5 (26:08):
Hey, let me ask you about the Celtics. I took
a change.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
I picked Denver originally for the championship, and I Chris,
what was that? A couple of games ago? I just
changed my mind to the Celtics winning the title. And
I know a lot of people don't feel good. The
Celtics don't make you feel good because they always play
a stinker and they look played down to the competition,
and they struggle when they shouldn't be struggling. But the
(26:33):
bottom line is they're twelve and two, you know, And
and they.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Took care of the Pacers, got rid of them.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
They've won games that from They probably had no business winning.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
Good teams do that. Why are the Celtics so maligned?
Speaker 6 (26:51):
Look, I'm as a lega fan the Celtics, man, you.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
Know, I put that aside for a second.
Speaker 6 (26:58):
I know, I know. Look, this is a now or
never thing for them right now. Right they're in perfect
position right now to get their eight teams championship, much
to the de may of all the Lakers fans. They've
arrived right They're sweeping through the East like it's they
(27:20):
just they're just in here. They're just playing. They're just
having fun right now. Now, this battle coming out of
coming out of the West is gonna push them, right,
Dallas is gonna put pressure on them, put pressure on them,
put pressure on them. If they can't do it against
the Dallas Mavericks team, then no one expected to be here.
Then it's time to really rethink this. You got rid
of Marcus mart and Williams brothers and all that, like
(27:41):
you did them and the boys not brothers, but you
revamp the team to a time where you had the
best record in the league. You got inside, you got outside,
you got to both end of the court, defenders and scores.
If you can't do it now, then hey man, we're
gonna throw a grenade in that thing because it's over.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
Now, I hear you. Now, Look, you mentioned the Lakers.
Who do you want is their next head coach? You
see the names that are out there, Bill Jackson.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
That's not one of the names.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Well, wait a minute, you know you can't put a
wheelchair on the court.
Speaker 5 (28:16):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
I guess you feel like if Chris Finchkin, the only
problem is they losing. Now, I'm just saying right, right,
But no, I mean, JJ, Reddick, you're gonna be happy
with that if that's the case.
Speaker 6 (28:35):
Look what it is, what it is, man, I just
want somebody who can speak to the fact that, look,
we're running out of time. The trust, right, whoever the trust?
We get it, Lebron, this is it for Lebron, draft Bronni,
whatever it is. I just want someone who's going to
be assertive and make real adjustments. That's it. I don't
(28:59):
care who it is.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
So Reddick is all right, haven't a novice head coach
who's Lebron's podcast partner and Lebron and Lebron's last two years.
Speaker 5 (29:12):
Tyler won a championship.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Come on, Tyler, Tyler's come on, don't put Tyler in
the JJ.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
Redick won the championship.
Speaker 5 (29:22):
Nobody was an assistant coach in the n b A.
Speaker 6 (29:25):
I get it. I understand. What I'm saying to you
is what I prefer, JJ Redick, No, and JJ Reddick
get the best out of the team. I have no idea.
Seven coaches after Phil Jackson haven't been able to So
at this point, what are we doing? We can keep
talking about this whatever, what are we doing? You know
(29:45):
what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
I hear you on that.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
Let me ask you this about the Pacers, who you know,
we haven't nobody really believes in him.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
We haven't talked much about him.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Do you think that they are here to stay as
a contender in the East or that they that will
be kind of like the Atlanta Hawks were a few
years ago when they got to the conference finals in
the East and haven't been heard of since.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
It was really like a fluke.
Speaker 6 (30:08):
No. I think I think they're here to stay because
you know, getting Pascal Siakam and doing the things that
they did at the trade deadline helped them. They're building
a team, whether it was for this year or in
the future, they're building the team. First of all, they
can score with anybody. They led the league in scoring.
They're gonna do that. They get one more big who
could you know, it's a defensive you know, juggernaut in there.
(30:29):
Don't need to run play for him. A lot of
block shots, rebounds. They're gonna be all right. That team
is good as young, they fast, they like to get
up and go. So I'm looking forward to them to
cause noise for for for a couple of years in
the East.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
And Rick is a better coach than we saw in
this series. Yeah, I mean I think a coach, right, Yeah, yeah,
I think.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
He's a good coach. Yeah, series, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
And I from I'm thinking, I mean, yeah, if I
could somehow pull something off to get Kevin Durant or
or maybe a Paul George, of course I would, or.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Lebron James even but.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
I think the Knicks, if they can't make a splash
like that something that's definite.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
I mean, maybe you try to run it back. Remember
when they got Ogiannobi.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
They first got him Julius Randall was healthy and the
team was pretty much fully healthy, and they won twelve
or fourteen games before Randall got hurt.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
So I've been wanting.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
To say, I don't know, I'm not in love with Randall.
Is he a fit with Brunson now emerging.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
But I would probably give it a shot.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
Unless I can make like the No Brain or Blockbuster
this summer, I might just want to run it back
and see if they can, you know, stay at the top.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
Of the East.
Speaker 6 (31:46):
I agree with that, I really do.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
Yeah, yeah, so there we go.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
I gotta take that because I usually don't get agreement
from Ephim.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
So that's that's a good way.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
To Hey, wait a minute, he from right and Seither.
I thought it was me. He never agrees with Chris
and YouTube. That's everybody, right, all right.
Speaker 4 (32:09):
Great job man, we talked to you brother, all right,
Morocco will come in your way.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
We are live from the tire rack dot Com studios
and it is time y'all for Shekel City.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
Welcome to Shekel City, the home base for Rob Parker's day.
Dix against the spread.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
All right, Clifton, Little Specil City for this.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
Uh trash talking Tuesday and uh metro leading to nothing
in game one. I just came back to win five
to break a five game blue the Street. So I
had the Dodgers in Game two Chris minus one and
a half runs.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Mets are just bad, and I'm like.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
The Dodgers have to get well, because I call the
Mets the General Hospital of Major League Baseball. Six teams
come there, Chris, and they get well. It's just that's
what happens. I also have the Raise minus one and
a half runs hosting the Oakland A's down in Tampa,
so Saint Pete Raised minus one and a half runs,
(33:30):
and I got the t Wolves plus one and a
half points. Chris in Dallas against the Mavericks. So again
Timberwolves plus one and a half runs, I mean one
and a half points. The Raised minus one and a
half runs and the Dodgers minus one and a half runs.
And remember, I'm not telling you who to bet on.
(33:51):
I'm telling you who I better.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
All right, there it is, and Rob, you start off
the show talking about some things happening in baseball and
this this Negro League players being recognized and the official
statistics is outstanding, and we're gonna talk about that in
the third hour of the show. But I want to
(34:15):
ask you about another, you know, big news item today,
and that is the retirement, the sudden retirement of the
well known umpire Angel Hernandez.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
And Chris is more for infamous rather than famous.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
Yeah, I was gonna say well known.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
I noticed I didn't say great umpire, Angel her Nandez.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
But are you saying good luck or good riddens?
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Good riddance to Angel Hernandez Chris. And let me say this,
if an umpire does this job right, an umpires like
third base, Chris.
Speaker 5 (34:53):
Listen to my analogy. An umpires like third base.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
You needed to play the game, but nobody came there
to see third base.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
You know what I mean? Like, that's what an umpire.
If you're a good umpire, nobody.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
Knows who you are, Nobody knows your name, right, You're
supposed to be a part of the game, just woven
into the fabric, and nobody knows that guy at first
based the umpire gets the calls, right, and I don't
know his name. I only know a guy's name when
he continually makes bad You know how many times, Chris,
his calls are reversed. I mean, like Baseball probably finally
(35:30):
because they were a slew of bad calls this year
where they went to him and just said, Okay, we
can't do this anymore, Like it's that bad. You never
see umpires retire in the middle of the season, Chris,
like where it's not help related, you know what I mean,
if you got sick or something.
Speaker 6 (35:47):
Like.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
His retirement is effective immediately. He's got a settlement from
Major League Baseball and the umpire's union and everything, and
they're saying, we can no more, no Moss. And I
give Baseball credit, Chris. This is what I talk about
all the time. Forget about having a robot arms to
all the sky and the eye and the sky and
all this.
Speaker 5 (36:09):
Hold people accountable.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
If you don't hit well in baseball, Chris, you'll get
demoted and sooner or later you're out the game. If
you're an umpire and you keep messing up on the
calls and you keep the pitch behind on plate, uh,
you botch it and they do the you know, to
gauge how good you are with pitch calling and stuff, Chris,
(36:31):
and you continually rank low with that stuff, people should
be moved out. I mean we all we get fired, Chris, right,
not you? But I got fired a number of times.
I mean people get fired, they move on.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
People want to do right. I don't think that.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
That's the managers to that standard.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
Right everybody, Chris, everybody except umpires.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
Why yep.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
Now, I'm not mad at that rap. I mean, and
you know, I've been one to endorse robot others, you know,
But I'm fine. Obviously I don't want human beings to
lose jobs. But you gotta get it right, Rob, we've talked,
and this isn't this isn't like specific to Angel Hernandez.
(37:15):
But Rob, there's one strike zone. It's not like every
umpire should not have his own strike zone.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
All right, I get it.
Speaker 4 (37:23):
If guys, you're human beings, you're gonna be a little different.
But essentially, Rob, the strike zones should resemble one another's
am I correct with that.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
They don't have to be exact right right, but.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
This but there's gotta be uh, there's gotta be some semblance.
And Chris, even like Cci Sabathia was very vocal and
other I mean Pedro Martinez, Chris on a game said
he's a terrible on part just the absolutely like like
you don't hear that very well, you know what I mean,
(38:00):
where where they're very they might say something and they
get tossed out, but they don't go on the record
or get in front of a camera or be on
national television and say, this guy's a terrible umpire.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
That's what.
Speaker 5 (38:12):
That's what.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
I don't want to misquote him, but you know that's
what Pedro Martinez said. He was a terrible umpire. And
I think Angel Hernandez it was just time to move on.
He's sixty two years old, it's been around a long time,
and we gotta get you, gotta get you, gotta be
better at your job.
Speaker 5 (38:28):
It's just that simple.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
You might be a great guy, great father, great husband,
but Chris, he's a terrible.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
Upartment, great granddad.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
All right, all that now, look and he he'll be
taking care of if he's not gonna be hurting financially.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
So yeah, good riddance. I agree with you on that, Moraim.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
All right, we got two hours left. We are not
going anywhere. Keep it locked here. The Odd Couple. Fox
