Let's give this putties.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
It is The Odd Couple. I'm Chris. He's ride.
Speaker 5 (00:33):
We're live from the tire rack dot com studios. Tyrek
dot com will help you get there and got an
unmatched selection, fast re shipping, free road hazard protection and
more than ten thousand recommended installers.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Tirak dot com is the way tire bind should be.
We got Joel Corey, former NFL agent.
Speaker 5 (00:54):
I believe we've had him on the show before from
Yeah CBS Sports. NFL analysts can obviously talk about it
from the agent's standpoint, so that'll be good to have
Joel Corey on at the bottom of the hour. And Rob,
my goodness, Luka Doncic has come out on fire. Rob
(01:15):
twenty points in the first quarter and a quarter not
even over. They got a minute left in the first quarter.
He's got twenty points. He's outscored the Timberwolves by himself.
Dallas is up thirty to eighteen, and Luka Doncic is
going crazy. He's actually playing some aggressive defense too as
(01:35):
a steal.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
So we'll see if he can keep it up.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
But the thing for them is even if he fades,
you still got Kyrie because they have been in that
take their turn mode.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
So we'll see. It's early. We know that. You know,
a big lead early doesn't mean no.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
But you don't want to come out on the road
and be down big, you know what I mean, Like Chris, Yeah,
they don't want to do that out of it, right,
take the crowd out of it.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Uh, the idea that.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
He's gonna have another stinker or you know what I mean.
We talked about a bad shooting night. This guy is
one of the best players in the league, man, and
if you get another bad night out of him, then
you know that that's good him and Kyrie both. That's
why I didn't buy into that. I'm not saying the
game's over or.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
They're gonna be they well and lose, but I like,
I liked them in this game.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
I just do Yeah, I said it before.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
I like them all.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Right, don't like there's any pressure on them to night,
who could have come out.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
I mean, these dudes play under pressure, you know what
I mean every playoff game.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Really, I mean, I'm just saying feeling the pressure.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
I don't think either one of these teams was gonna buckle,
you know what I mean. Whoever's feeling the most pressure,
I think they're still gonna play well.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
I just got the feeling that Eddie thought that there
was more pressure on them, and that was that was
my push bad that I just didn't think that.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
I didn't think that might. This doesn't mean they're not right.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
No, I'm just.
Speaker 5 (03:07):
We both disagreed. We felt there's more on the Timberls
because they're facing elimination. That's all they've been in these spots,
and they said, really the pressures on the team, you know,
that's trying to close you out. And obviously their opinion
is valuable and they've been there. But let's go to
the NFL. Rob and Kurt Warner, hall of Fame quarterback
(03:28):
was asked why he you know, who's he looking forward
to watching most this season, Aaron Rodgers or Kirk Cousins,
and not surprisingly, he said Aaron Rodgers. I think most people,
as much as you know, be interesting to see what
Cousins does in Atlanta. But Aaron Rodgers is one of
the biggest stories in the league this year, so we
(03:51):
all want to see what he can do. But here's
why Warner said he's so excited about seeing Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 6 (04:00):
You know, he is one of the best quarterbacks our
league has ever seen, but he doesn't get into the
greatest conversation until he gets to another Super Bowl, having
him switch teams, having him come back at forty years old,
you know, with alvivin.
Speaker 7 (04:14):
Achilles, the New York Jets who have never won, and
this could maybe set Aaron in kind of a different category.
I mean, kind of what I was able to do
with Arizona that elevated me back to a different status
than it would have been had I just had great
success with Saint Louis.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Kurt, one of the Jets did when I know it
was a long time ago, but he said the Jets
never won. They won the Super Bowl in nineteen sixty nine.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Just I don't know that Warner was born man, but
he might have been.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
He still covers the NFL.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
Chris, you need to know that may I think it's
kind of a I don't know if you meant that
literally or if you meant I'm not trying to protect you.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
I just you're protecting him.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
He was wrong.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
He decided in mind, all right, okay, fine, What do
you think I think about what he's said about Rogers.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
I don't think there's anything there. Of course, he needs
to get to another Super Bowl. I think people look
at it at Aaron Rodgers and.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Think that there should have been another one.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
We could already detail all the games that were there
that didn't happen, and the game in Seattle they had
a shot and the on side kick was muffed, and
all these other situations and circumstances. So I think what
he stated is more obvious. It's hard to be in
any kind of greatest conversation when you just won one
(05:33):
Super Bowl, even though he's won four MVPs and he
has a lot of records in the NFL, and he
said that he's one of the best quarterbacks. So I
think what he said was standard or made total sense.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
I don't even if he wins a Super Bowl with
the Jets, which I don't expect, he's not in the
greatest quarterback of all time conversation. I mean, now that
we've seen Patrick Mahome, Like obviously you got Brady with
seven super Bowls, But I mean, I don't think anybody's
(06:05):
putting Aaron Rodgers ahead of Patrick Mahomes, even if they
win the Super Bowl. So I don't think he's I mean,
unless he went on one the next two with the
Jets or something like that, I don't think he's getting
in that goat quarterback discussion. He's in the top five
discussion for sure and will stay there regardless of what
(06:28):
happens with the Jets. But I don't think he's, you know,
getting in the goat convo.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
But here, yeah, I'm gonna say the only reason if
he is His career passing rating Chris is one oh
three point six and its touchdown the innersation interception.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Ratio is four point five to two point one.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Both are the highest and four point five I'm sorry,
two to one Chris as far as the in the
touchdown interception ratio, both are the highest in the NFL
and NFL history. That that's the only reason why would
be in that conversation. But I'm just saying nobody has
a higher passer rating no matter what, and nobody has
(07:15):
that touchdown. It's all objective, so what's your standard the subjective.
What your standard is or what you see doesn't mean
that that Nope, somebody else might not look at him.
People looked at Damn Marino without a Super Bowl Chris
and thought he was the greatest quarterback they ever saw.
So just saying that he couldn't be in that conversation
(07:38):
even if they won the Super Bowl. Maybe in your opinion,
but that doesn't mean that there won't be some people
who will look at him.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Here.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
I mean, we had Rod.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
Rod Woodson on and say he thinks Dann Marino is
the best quarterback he's ever seen. So yeah, there would
be people here there. But he doesn't want to call
in this, but he want fame, right, So that's my point.
That even heightens my point, like, of course everybody's going
to have opinions. Hey, there are some players in the
league today to think Paul George is the goat.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
I mean, so people can.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
Have, you know, thoughts and feelings and opinions, But do
you think most people if Aaron Rodgers leaves the Jets
of the Super Bowl would have him in the goat conversation.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
It would put him on a different level because the
Jets haven't won since nineteen sixty nine.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
And that's what it's all about.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
When I asked, yeah, but I'm telling you, would the
goat conversation some people they would look at him and say, hey,
look at what Brady's done.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Yes, Brady's had these great defenses. Brady was on teams
that cheated. There will be a conversation that people could
talk Brady down. While Aaron Rodgers shout out at Chris,
can I talk?
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Trying to give you, I said one sentence.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
I can't. I can't say one sentence. Come on, look
you get on the show or leave the building up.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
I mean no, but you're always interrupting me. Would you
stop it? Would you stop?
Speaker 2 (09:17):
So you're trying to give you a conversation every time
you just don't want to hear it. Don't think that
he can, which is fine, Chris bussa it. What I'm
trying to tell you is there'll be other people who
will be able to go over. So what's the conversation? Then,
of course I don't know what that means. What does
you mean we say the most? What does that mean,
(09:39):
what number to mean? I won't say the people that
I don't know?
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Will you?
Speaker 2 (09:45):
I don't If it depends on what the season is,
what he does, you'll take a look at his MVP
and if he does it and he has another MVP
season at forty regular season, goes to.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
The Super Bowl, has a Jets win.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
A chairchampionship, and does something unbelievable those are touchdown to
win with three seconds left.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yes, he's in that conversation.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
He's in what conversation the greatest quarterback of all time?
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Because I would take a look at his entire body
of work, the four MVPs, all the other stuff that
went on in his career, the quarterback rating, the touchdown,
the interception ratio.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
I would have to look at all of that and say,
my god, he has five.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
MVPs, he won a second Super Bowl with a franchise
that's been dead for forty years.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Yes, he would be in that conversation.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Would you look at the.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Fact that he's won in four in NFC championship games
and hand.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Can fake? Can I talk? Cannot talk? Cannot talk?
Speaker 1 (10:46):
You know what?
Speaker 5 (10:46):
I don't want to do the shows that question?
Speaker 1 (10:51):
You would you the question you asked me a question,
and then when you dance didn't want the question was this?
Speaker 5 (11:02):
Would you take into consideration that he's won in four
in NFC championship games with nine touchdowns and eight interceptions?
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Guy? Comment the fame?
Speaker 5 (11:15):
A guy who's claimed the fame is that he doesn't
turn the ball over has eight interceptions in five NFC
title games with.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
That factor in it all, no comment?
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Well, if you're not commenting the rest of the show,
why don't you just leave?
Speaker 1 (11:32):
No, why don't you leave? I don't have to leave.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
I'm gonna talk. Go ahead, talk if you're gonna question,
why do you leave?
Speaker 1 (11:44):
I'm telling you, I'm telling you no comment.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
I told you what I said already that that I
already told you. I know those stats. You mean you
asked me if they won, would I consider them the greatest?
Speaker 1 (11:57):
I just to.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
S superhero, Well, because I need to sit, MVP throw touchdowns?
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Were looking for ball?
Speaker 4 (12:06):
If they just win the Super Bowl and he's a
pro bowler.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Chris, this whole topic is hypothetical.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
So yes, I tell you about.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
Paying hy you rot for four hundred and eighty dards,
five touchdowns, no picks, and he's MVP. Of the season,
Jets go undefeated, they win the championship.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Yeah, he's in the go guy, he still ain't in
the goat conversation.
Speaker 5 (12:29):
Stop it aight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, You're

Your thoughts, Clem in Vegas. You're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Clem?
Speaker 9 (14:11):
What's up? Fellas? I love the show man. Thank you guys,
have a great job on the first things.
Speaker 10 (14:16):
First man, shout after your guys, Nick and Wilds.
Speaker 9 (14:19):
But let me tell you this.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Thank you.
Speaker 11 (14:21):
Aaron Rodgers number one is not leading Jets to the
super Bowl. Okay, let's just stop that, right.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
But that's not the Clem, Clem, that's not the that's
that's not the conversation, because that's not if you don't
if you believe that, then you shouldn't call on this
because that's not the.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
That's not the cosa. It's all hypothetic, don't.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
I didn't pick them to make the playoffs last year,
trying to take you.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
He was just saying.
Speaker 9 (14:49):
The second thing is, even if he did Hell to
the No, he would not be considered to go His
playoff record sucks.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
That's not the question. It's not what he be considered
the go.
Speaker 9 (15:01):
Conversation.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
The conversation is not it's not being the goat.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
That's not what you said, Clem. I'm just trying to
get it clear.
Speaker 10 (15:10):
It's not what we said.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
I'm no one saying if he wins the super Bowl
he's the greatest quarterback ever.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
That's not what we were saying.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Okay, there you go, thank you. That's all we're asking.
What you can't make up the story as you go along.
I mean, Will in Wisconsin, you're in the odd couple
Fox Sports.
Speaker 11 (15:29):
Radio old fellas, uh where I got to tell you?
And for Rob this is probably a great, great call
for somebody that's not actually a Wisconsin sports fan, what
this will actually do, if if if Rogers wants to
hypothetically win, it may settle the debate on if he's
better than Brett Farr as far as a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
He has left yard like that debate. I feel like
he's better than far. I don't know. I think most
people where are you at.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
On that Brett Farb is not better than Aaron Rodgers? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:01):
I think I think that's been.
Speaker 11 (16:04):
No, No, Aaron got left touchdowns and far he's got
he's got.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Interception You can did I just tell you about the
all time more m v ps? Yes, what what do
you want?
Speaker 9 (16:15):
Got one more MVP? He has more, one more individual accolade.
But all of that.
Speaker 11 (16:20):
Has not netted a single team that Aaron Rodgers has
been on. But beyond the.
Speaker 6 (16:24):
Win against gets what.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
Brett far do we won?
Speaker 1 (16:29):
And they wait a minute, Wait a minute, wait a minute?
Speaker 10 (16:32):
Who ran back to balls?
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Who ran back to the take those kickoff return?
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Chris return? Does man?
Speaker 5 (16:40):
Howard?
Speaker 1 (16:40):
You don't even have a super Bowl?
Speaker 5 (16:42):
I mean, look, we're not saying Farv is in a
great quarterback. I think pretty much universally viewed his better.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Especially when Farv has the most that has all those interceptions?
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Chris?
Speaker 2 (16:56):
How many playoff games ended with Brett Fath thrown across
his body to an interception.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
To lose a game? Come on? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
I just yeah, I can't. I can't even like all right,
and it's not just in farm. Yeah, but no, Brett
Forwards won three m vps. Yea, I know he split one,
but he won three. Yeah, Robert in Bakersfield, California, you're
in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Thank you, guys.
Speaker 10 (17:22):
A good question. I'm a huge Aaron Rodgers fan. He
is in the conversation hypothetically for the winner or not.
It's not really into hypothetical, but I got I got
one for both of you, guys. I have him a
funkyon Manning. So what do you think about that?
Speaker 4 (17:41):
I mean, look, man, he's only got two super Bowls?
He went to more? What man? He go to five?
Speaker 5 (17:47):
The second one, of course he won. You know they
almost won despite him ninety six yards in that in
that Super Bowl One. You could probably argue that I
would go with Manning because of how he changed the game,
you know, calling the game at the line of scrimmage
and everything. But I don't think that's crazy, Rob I
think you can legitimately have that view and it be respected.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
I would go with Manning, though.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
I would go with Rogers because of the career quarterback
rating and and pay Manning has what one more MVP?
Speaker 4 (18:20):
I think it's five.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
Yeah, he's got five, and he's got that's the most ever,
but he has five.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
I mean, and if people wanted to pick him, that's fine.
He had his struggles in the postseason. I think he's
under five hundred in the postseason.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
Yeah, the thing on him was he couldn't win there.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
I mean, neither of them has a great postseason record,
but there was that feeling on Manning, you know.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
But I don't know if Aaron Rodgers record is under
five hundred now Manning's is neither.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Manning's isn't either.
Speaker 5 (18:46):
Oh I thought Manny's isn't because of those last few
years in Denver. Manny's is fourteen and thirteen in the
playoffs and Rodgers is I bet you Rodgers is like
twelve and nine or something like that.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Uh, let's see Rogers Rogers.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
So basically they both got basically the same playoff record,
except man He's got the two Super Bowls.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
DJ in California. You're in the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 9 (19:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (19:19):
So, uh, my main thing was the Aaron the first
of all Aaron Rodgers h New York Jets last one
in two nine if he wins the Super Bowl for
the Jets, if he wins two Because Chris brought up
in Brea winning two. If he wins one in New York,
it definitely puts him in the Gold conversation, whether it
(19:40):
is or not, just because New York missed the Jets
and has been so long. There's gonna be too many
people saying that it's not that uh. If he wins two, man,
it's this ball game for him at that point. It's
just too many people that are gonna be in his corner.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
That was my one.
Speaker 10 (19:54):
Point and two. The whole thing about pressure, I look
at pressure like it being broke.
Speaker 9 (20:01):
If you ain't got no money, you can't.
Speaker 10 (20:02):
Thinking, if you're already down. There's no pressure to win. Necessarily.
I get the professional pressure to win, but overall, not
really as an athlete. More importantly, the team that's winning, though,
definitely has pressure because every day if they lose, every
game they lose. If if if the Dallas loses this game,
(20:22):
all you're gonna hear is not going to really be
about Minnesota in a negative way. But if Dallas is choking,
so Dallas being up right now, if they lose this game,
the question is gonna be that they chose.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
If they lose this game, it will be a choke.
I mean they've been up twenty now they are seventeen.
Speaker 9 (20:38):
Now, I'll let you guys, Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Agree with that.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
I think there's pressure when you're facing elimination. I just
think I just think you know that this could be
a last game of the season, and there's a degree
of that. Chris, I do believe that there's pressure for
the team that has to win. Dallas does not have
to win. They want to win, they want to do
a thing to win, but they don't have to win.
They know they're playing to Game six at home no
(21:06):
matter what.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
No, I agree, I mean, I agree, yeah. On Rogers,
he's I do think. While I don't think winning the
Super Bowl would put him legitimately in the goat conversation,
Rob the caller is right about New York, it would
elevate it and so many people would you know, everything
(21:29):
that happens in New York is magnified. I still don't
think it Maidens puts him in the goat conversation, but
everything that happens there is magnified.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
So that but you.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Already just saw with Jalen Brunton that he's the greatest
nick of all time and they didn't even win anything.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Well, how ridiculous was this said?
Speaker 6 (21:48):
That?
Speaker 1 (21:49):
Right? No, what I'm just saying, but people wouldn't go
crazy over him?
Speaker 4 (21:52):
Right right?
Speaker 5 (21:53):
All right, more akuppa coming your way. We got Joel
Corey around the corner.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Cup
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
We're live from the Tieright dot com studios.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
Joel Corey, former NFL agent, now CBS Sports NFL analysts,
joining the I Couble.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
Joel, Welcome, Thanks for having me.
Speaker 5 (22:20):
Hey, let's start with Jalen Widdle gets the big contract
makes him a top five wide receiver as far as pay,
A lot of people are feeling like at some point
because there are so many great wide receivers, and you know,
even at the lower levels, you're starting to see the
best athletes instead of playing running back like they used to,
(22:44):
now they're playing wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
And a lot of people are thinking the same thing.
Speaker 5 (22:48):
That's kind of happened to running backs where the pay
you know, has dropped, It won't go that far because
the game is still geared towards receivers. But do you
see maybe a time in the not too distant future
where receivers aren't getting paid as much just because there's
so many good ones out there, or do you think
(23:09):
this thing is gonna keep climbing.
Speaker 9 (23:12):
I think it's gonna keep climbing. In twenty twenty, when
Christian McCaffrey became the highest paid running back that April,
there were two wide receivers making at least twenty million
per year. There are now nineteen, and he's still the
highest paid running back. There's a trend which really started
(23:33):
in twenty eleven. You can say Lay Fitzgerald's highest paid
nine quarterback. You just that for Captain Place. You're thirty
four point twenty five million paying wide receivers. There's nothing new.
It's going to continue. You're going to have if the
deals get done at least three more it will be
above twenty five million per year. One could be the
(23:55):
highest paid nine quarterback in Justin Jefferson. So I don't
really see you'll see happy with wide receivers like you
had with arper running backs.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
Yeah, let me ask you about the Chicago Bears is
going to be on hard knocks.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
I know the league is pushing this.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
They just want the money, They want the cameras in
and to give the fans the insight. Just as an executive,
would you really want your rookie franchise quarterback got some
pressure on them being involved playing to the cameras. Why
have the teams or the owners given into this? And
I don't know, teams don't seem to win or do
(24:35):
anything great coming off of these things. Are you in
favor of this or is just a part of football
you got to accept it?
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Or this seems like a distraction to me.
Speaker 9 (24:45):
I wouldn't want it for this team, given that you
do have the rookie quarterback. But hard knocks has been
around I don't know a good fifteen years or so
is not going away. They've got an off season version
of the Giants starting shortly, and you have the nd
seed version you've had with the Cardinals. I think here's
gonna in the Dolphins last year. So no, they seem
(25:06):
to be expanding hard knocks as opposed to trying to
curtail it.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
Let me ask you this. I want to go back
to the Dolphins. They obviously they have paid Tyreek a
while ago. They just paid Jaylen Waddell. What do you
think do you think this means anything that they're paying
the receivers but they're not paying the quarterback.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (25:28):
And what do you think that you think they're gonna
end up signing to it before this season or or not.
Speaker 9 (25:34):
Yeah, they're gonna sign it before the season. They're clear
the decks to do so. Robert Hunt's making twenty million
per years an offensive linemen of Carolina Panthers. They didn't
think a franchise tag on Christian Wilkins. He's a over
twenty eight million per year with the Raiders. They did
that for a reason. Jillis deal might be hard to do.
You got a guy who has an injury history dating
(25:55):
back to college and then he had the concussions two
years ago. So if I'm the team, I want big
per game roster bonuses in his contract each year, so
he gets injured, I get some cash and KAP relief.
I may not be comfortable with the guarantees because of
the concussion history. And then I would imagine at the
(26:17):
very least, he's gonna look at the guy he replaced
at Alabama as a benchmark and Jalen Hurts and want
to top that deal, So it's probably a hard deal
to do and why it's taking so long. The receiver
deals are easier. As soon as DeVonta Smith was done,
that made it easier for Jalen Waddle to get done.
And you just slot him in between A'man Roth, Saint
(26:39):
Brown and DeVonta Smith. There you go, there it is.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
That makes total sense.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
What do you see happening with CD Lamb right?
Speaker 9 (26:50):
Oh, he's gonna wait for Justin Jefferson, so it plays
in his hands. The Dallas are dragging their feet because
Justin Jefferson can make a case that he should be
the first thirty five million dollars per year non quarterback.
He's been the most productive receiver through the first four
years of an NFL career. And then you had Philadelphia
who had to adjust AJ Brown's contract after the Vouta
(27:13):
Smith because he's the one and In Smith is the
one A or the two. He came in at thirty two.
So that now sets the floor for CD Lamb at
thirty two million per year. So it should come in
someplace between Justin Jefferson and AJ Brown's deal. And I'm
not getting anything done before Justin Jefferson. If I'm cd lamb.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Right, let's let me ask you.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
I was going to ask you, Oh, Green Bay and
Jordan Love, what's happening there? You know they didn't They
didn't want to extend him before the season started. I
guess they didn't feel comfortable with what they had seen.
I guess after four years of practicing and playing a
little bit. Uh, why are they waiting? The longer you wait,
the more it costs you. So why would they wait
(27:59):
on Jordan Love?
Speaker 9 (28:01):
Well, they had the heads their bets because they didn't
play for three years. They decided what to do with
the fifth year option. You weren't going to pick up
a fifth year option for over twenty million per year
for a guy who barely played, so they did a
bridge deal with him. In the way it was structured,
you couldn't do another deal for salary increase until early May.
(28:22):
Their problem dates back to what happened to Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers sat for three years, just like Jordan Love,
and in seven games into his years a starter, they
made him the fourth highest paid player in the NFL.
Jordan Love played a full year outperformed Aaron Rodgers that
year got the Packers in his first year starting got
(28:43):
the Packers to the playoffs. So same agency, coup looking,
same front, same president, team president. So I'm like, hey,
what you did for Aaron Rodgers, you got at least
due for Jordan Love. I have to at least be
the fourth highest paid player in the league, if not more.
The way Jordan Love played the second half of the years,
you can make a case he was one of the
(29:04):
two or three best quarterbacks in the league.
Speaker 5 (29:07):
Do you think Trevor Lawrence gets done before the season
and what do you think is the hold up?
Speaker 9 (29:13):
If there is one, Yeah, he probably gets done. They
didn't initiate negotiations for it not to get done. You
got to remember, you're gonna pay someone for you for
his expected contribution wasn't necessarily not necessarily what he's done.
Trevor Lawrence's rookie year was a waste because of the
Urban Meyer Defocle took tremendous strides. In the second year,
(29:35):
everything was humming along. This year he starts getting banged
up and then they missed the playoffs. It's gonna be
over fifty million per year, So don't be shocked by that.
And if you look at what's happened with the first
pick under the twenty twenty CDA. Kyler Murray when he
signed was the second highest paid player. Joe Burrow was
the highest paid player in the league. I'm sure Trevor
(29:57):
Lawrence's representation knows that fact as well.
Speaker 5 (30:02):
All Right, that's Joel Corey breaking it down. Man, great information.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Thanks, you appreciate it any times me guys. Yep.

(30:58):
that Brianna Stewart the WNBA player, All time great player
is starting a women's three on three league with Nafisa
Collier another player. It will be played in January, last
about eight weeks. And the interesting thing that everybody's kind
(31:19):
of latching onto Rob is that the players will make.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
It'll be thirty players.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
They're going to make on average, more money than the
WNBA players.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Now.
Speaker 5 (31:35):
Look, I'm skeptical as to whether a women's three on
three league can work. I think the Big three that
ice Cube is founded. I hope that you know, has success,
but it's been a challenge. With former NBA stars, it's
(31:56):
been a challenge, and so with women's play that most
people don't know or follow, I think it's an uphill battle.
I will say this though quickly. They're gonna play full court, Rob.
They're gonna play on a sixty foot court. Now we
know the regular court is ninety four feet, the court
(32:18):
will be sixty feet long, and it'll be.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
Three on three full court, and that brings them.
Speaker 5 (32:25):
When I first thought about that, I said, oh, I'm
more excited about that then, because three on three half
court is just not doesn't lend as many opportunities for excitement.
Even with men, you're not gonna get as many dunks
because it's not as wide open and things like that.
Three on three girl women Obviously they won't be dunking,
but it will be a little more wide open. But
(32:48):
it that could make it better, or it could look like, man,
there need to be a two other at least two other,
if not four other girls or women out there playing
with him.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
I just think it's gonna be a challenge though, because
you know, women's basketball, even the WNBA with all the
backing from the NBA, has had its challenges.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Yeah, I admirer for just wanting to step out and
do something different, and it's it takes a lot to
want to, you know, step up and Chris try to
create something in a space to make opportunities for other people.
So I applaud her there. I think it'll be a
tough road if women show up. I've been saying this
(33:31):
for all along. If women support this and give it
some legs, they have a shot. But if women don't go,
I'm gonna say the thing, same thing over and over
and over. Women just have not supported women's basketball on
that level, Chris for a long time without the NBA subsidies,
subsidiies and and all the other stuff that's happened and
(33:53):
what they've had to do to keep that league afloat.
If it was on his own legs, it probably would
have been gone five years. Other women's basketball leagues way
before the w NBA, Chris, you know.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
That they tried them in the WBL es.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
The WBL, the Women's Basketball.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
League, they all folded. The NBA has helped this things
stay alive, but people got to start showing up, especially
the women support it, so I applaud her. It's a
tough road, but I'm not here to say it can't happen.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Why not, Nah, it'll be interesting.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
I think it would help them if this season, this
WNBA season is continues. I mean the ratings have been good,
obviously driven by Caitlyn Clark. But if the ratings remain,
you know, if they see more of a jump and
they do get more popular, then I think that gives
it a better chance of surviving.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
You know, in January Route, most.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
Of the or a lot of the WNBA players are overseas,
you know, making money, and obviously this gives them a
chance now they can stay here in America.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
It'll it'll be interesting. I don't know how it'll go.
Speaker 5 (35:04):
Like I said, it's been a challenge for even the
w NBA, so I think it's going to be challenging.
I thought ice cubes three on three would be even
more popular. You get the x NBA Stars, but when
you watch it, it's fine. But three on three is
just not as exciting as five or five rop. It
(35:24):
just doesn't lend itself to that because it's half court
and things like that. So that's a challenge. Maybe they can,
you know, overcome because it's full court, but that that's
I want to see that that. That's one of the
things that excites me most about it is that it's
three on three, full court on a shorter court, a
(35:45):
sixty foot court, So.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
That ms gonna be interesting.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
Yeah, rob G, what are your thoughts on this?
Speaker 12 (35:53):
I think, you know, again, I appreciate her trying to
do something right. And I think one of the articles,
I think it was in the AP where they were
saying that the fact that ideally, according to Shan Sharanya,
not only will they be making more than the average salary,
their hope is to be double what the average salary.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
That's what their goal is to have.
Speaker 12 (36:13):
Them be basically around two hundred and fifty thousand dollars
per player, right.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
Well, and the players also have stake in the league.
Speaker 12 (36:20):
Yes, exactly, so they're incentivized for it to grow. But
what I think a lot of this is, and I
could be reading too much into it, it feels like
a response to what happened to Britney Griner that in
order to avoid a situation that happening again where these
women had to go overseas to make money and make
real money and do it in a foreign land. The
(36:40):
hope is they'll be able to subsidize that income and
do it straight from here and I have to worry
about getting caught up in some foreign international.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
Has anybody said that or is that just your.
Speaker 12 (36:51):
Opinion that again I could be reading too much into it.
That's my belief is that maybe this does not get
pushed out because again, the WNBA is not like a
super profitable leak, so there had to be another reason
why they wanted to do this, and I think being
able to push it out there and having the Brittany
Grinder situation as a backdrop, and we're gonna give you
an alternative so you don't have to risk this kind
(37:13):
of situation again.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
And you don't have to go overseas to make money,
where maybe if they had some other money, they don't
have to do it, So you might be right, rob G.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
It'll be interesting again.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
They will be competing directly with the NBA as well,
so if it's in January that that's that could be
another challenge for them. But you know, I agree with
you guys, more power to them. Hopefully it's successful, so
we'll see how it works out. All right, It is
