(00:54):
man Carrie Kittles will join us at the bottom.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Of the hour.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Big believe in Luca and so it'll be fun to
talk with Carry and get his perspective on what's going on.
But in the meantime, Rob breaking news today, just a
couple hours ago or within the last few hours. Are
we gonna have Steve do it? Are you you just.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Played that he was just playing, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Brever Lawrence Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback signs a five year, two
hundred and seventy five million dollar contract extension, two hundred
million guaranteed and the fifty five million dollars a year
rob ties him now with Joe Burrow of the Bengals
(01:41):
for the top mark in money per year.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
What are your thoughts on this?
Speaker 4 (01:49):
It's just the NFL, and this is we keep seeing.
It is just you have a quarterback that turn comes
up and it's not based on stats or or will
you fit.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
In in the game. I mean, I think of it.
What was it?
Speaker 4 (02:04):
What was the guaranteed money? Rob g two hundred two
hundred and when Mahomes signed, his guarantee was sixty how Like,
none of this makes any sense to me, Chris, But
this is the NFL.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
We talked about it before.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
When Matthew Stafford was with the Lions, he was the
highest paid player in the league. Hadn't even won a
playoff game to that point, so none of this really like,
it's just if you have a quarterback, franchise quarterback and
Miami hadn't done it with Tua not yet. You remember
the Ravens farted off with Lamar and obviously ended up
(02:39):
paying it.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
But rob G, you had it interesting.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
This is rob I don't know if robb G told
you this during the break, but this will blow you
away just the first sentence, he says. And theyn't even
give us the numbers. But go ahead, rob G.
Speaker 5 (02:55):
So this status courtesy of the thirty third team, all right.
Daniel Jones is an extra year, so his numbers are
gonna be higher in general, but across his first forty
eight starts, Trevor Lawrence twelve and four total yards Daniel
Jones eleven thousand, nine, ninety two yards per ten, both
of them. Six point seven total touchdowns Trevor Lawrence sixty
(03:17):
six Daniel Jones sixty four total turnovers Trevor Lawrence fifty
five Daniel Jones fifty four. QB rating Trevor Lawrence eighty
five point five Daniel Jones eighty five point four.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
That's shocking, now let me be it. Go ahead, go.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Ahead, Yeah, yeah, I wouldn't think that the numbers would
be that close.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
That's surprising.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
But you gotta admit, like Trevor Lawrence, there was a
time when they bounced back and they won those games
in a row. I can't remember what it was. They
won a playoff game and then they would down twenty
eight nothing or whatever it was in that big playoff game.
That was his moment in the second half. I think
he had four touchdowns or whatever it was. It was
it was you looked at him and was like wow.
(04:05):
And remember he was one of those guys that they
thought was a can't miss, but the numbers haven't lived up.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
We talked about it all last year that he took
a step back.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
We talked about it that we thought he was going
to take a step forward coming off that playoff win, right, Chris,
that that big playoff comeback.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
It just hadn't been the case.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Look his first year, and you can say for Daniel
Jones that he hasn't been in a good situation, right,
But for his first year under urban Meyer, we know
that was just a disaster. And you know, if some
people don't want to hold that against Trevor and I
get it, but since then he was better a second
year very you know, twenty five touchdowns, eight interceptions, Rob,
(04:46):
I mean, that's that's fine, particularly for your second year.
But last year, Russell Wilson had twenty six touchdowns and
nine interceptions, so basically the same numbers. Trevor few for
more yards. But and then this year, like you said,
Robbie took a step back. They didn't make the playoffs.
Here's what I here's where I'm at on Trevor Lawrence.
(05:09):
I if I were the Jaguars, I was saying this,
I've been saying it all off season. I would not
have extended him. I would not have extended him. Not
that I don't want him as my quarterback. I'm just
saying I haven't quite seen enough I would feel like
(05:32):
he's probably my guy. He's probably my guy. There's reason
to believe he's gonna be our franchise quarterback. Obviously, Rob
the pedigree, the resume, all of that is great. But
before I give somebody two hundred and seventy five million dollars,
I want to be sure it's kind of the same
(05:54):
way i'ment to it. There's different reasons obviously to us
had the injury issues, but I'm like, look, I want
to be sure. Now, Rob, I'll say this, if you
know he's your guy, then it was smart to do
it now. Because we always said the price is only going.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Up, but it doesn't go down.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
It waited a year. Next year it might be three
hundred million, right, So I'm with that. My take was
this Rob, And I've said the same with Tua, and
you know, I'll say it with many quarterbacks that I'm
not completely sure of. If Trevor came out Rob this
year and has a great let's say I didn't pay him.
(06:32):
I'm owning the Jags and he comes out and has
a great year, I will gladly pay him more. I
would gladly pay him more next offseason. If I am
now one hundred percent sure in my head this is
our guy. This is our guy. And Rob, they've given
(06:52):
like this is the year for him. They giving him
Gabe Davis. Remember with Buffalo Brian Thomas Junior, who's a
very nice receiver they drafted in the first round, and
you already had Christian Kirk, you got Travis at and
as a running back, like he's got the pieces. Now
this is the year to get it done. I'm just
saying I would have waited, and I get it might
(07:13):
have cost me more money, but I would just have
more peace of mind than now.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Rob.
Speaker 6 (07:18):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
A lot we saw a lot of guys get paid
after three years and the teams regretted it. Carson wentz
Kyler Murray. Now, Murray looks like he might well see
if he has a resurgence.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
But Murray jar showed up right.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
And and golf obviously is fine. But the Rams ended
up feeling like he wasn't their guy.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
You know, but he wound up being on the of
getting to another Super Bowl. He was right, well, Detroit,
he's been great. But I'm just saying they the Lions
paid him early. You didn't have to pay him after
three years. That's my thing too, is I don't have
to pay it now. And I just don't think if
it's a CJ.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Stroud situation where he shown me for two, three, three years,
he's that guy.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Sure.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
In fact, the sooner the better because it does keep
the price lower Rock. But I just haven't seen quite
enough from Trevor Lawrence to make me one hundred percent sure.
I'm my feeling is, yeah, he's gonna be the guy likely,
but I just want to see a little more evidence
before I'm willing to pony up that kind of money.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
The only problem is there's so few quarterbacks that just
aren't enough guys out there, Chris. So the guys that
you have, their stock goes through the roof because there's
so many teams, thirty two teams, and they're nine quarterbacks,
nine or ten quarterbacks, and that's the problem. So when
you have one, if you don't have one, your season's over.
(08:47):
So people are going to dive in with these guys
because they feel.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Like they almost have who what's what's our alternative? Who's all?
Speaker 1 (08:57):
If you own the Jags, would you have paid him now?
Or would you take my approach where you wait?
Speaker 4 (09:03):
I just think that they think because of what they saw.
And I'll be the first to say he took a
step back last.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Year and it wasn't like it. I mean, he wasn't awesome.
His second year he was better, much better and played well.
I'm not gonna see here and act like saying good
player and that he doesn't have promise in all of that.
And like I said, I generally think he probably is.
I mean, he clearly is now, but I think in
(09:30):
general it's will pay benefits, this will pay dividends. But
I personally would have been like, man, I want to see.
I want to see because last year he wasn't as good.
And the year before he was fine, but he wasn't.
You know, lights out, he hasn't been what he was.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
I just he's the number one. I hear you.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
I just I don't know how you go, how you uh,
how you work against the whole idea, Chris, that you
said you want to see it doesn't mean that even
if you see one more year that he couldn't have
another bad year or two. I don't know how you
really work against that. You gotta have to me feel
like he has what it takes to get there, or
(10:13):
the guys putting in the work.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
You feel like he wants to get better.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
You've seen some flashes enough to make you say I gotta,
I gotta get in bed with somebody.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
I just don't think we've seen that much. Yeah, I'm
just saying.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
I mean that that that playoff comeback, he put him
in the hole with four first half interceptions.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
I know, but they wanted they came back, come back.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
But that's one you know, like like I just want
to see more and I I don't worry about like
if I see enough. Generally the quarter the quarterbacks are
really good. You know, you're not equally good every year.
But I don't get your logic of well, if you
play well next year, that.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
Don't mean he's not gonna play. He's gonna play well.
But I don't know.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
I don't get that. I don't I don't understand. I
don't understand like you keep saying you okay. So he
plays okay next year or plays better.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Five year contract in two franchise tags. I don't have
to pay you. Now, show me something.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
At some point, though, people aren't going to wait all
the way to franchise tags because they want to.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Have the guy on board.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
They want to know that he's uh had some stability,
that you believe in him.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
There's a lot of stuff like that that goes on.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
I want to wait till they did that to kirk Cousins.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
It didn't work out.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
Kirk Cousins left, he didn't wait anything, but it didn't
work out for Washington.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
So they did that. They didn't buy into them, and
they kept waiting and waiting, and what did they have.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
They still got a million guys looking for still looking
for a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
So so I'm.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Not saying I want to wait that long. I'm just
saying I don't have to be in a rush. Ideally,
I would like to sign a guy before the franchise tag.
Ideally I'd like to sign him after this up coming
season because he plays really well. He just hasn't shown
me consistently or even a lot, even a lot of
inconsistent times, that he's gonna be this star.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
So you explain to me, what are they seeing? Why
do you think they signed it? People see?
Speaker 1 (12:18):
I mean, I'm asking you, I don't know, rob people disagree.
I mean, they obviously like him, and that's fine because
I think he probably is the guy. I'm just saying,
if I ran the team, I would want to see
more evidence, more consistent play of greatness coming around the
corner than.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
I have so far.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
That's all I'm saying, And I know it would It
might cost me, but I would be willing to pay
that if I was more certain that he's my guy.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Yep, So now and now it'll be interesting because the
price of quarterback just went up. So if I'm Jordan Love,
I'm just going down to the Rolls Royce place looking around.
If I'm Tua and who else didn't get paid yet
and doesn't dak I mean, are you kidding? I mean
they got to look around being like, oh yeah, oh yeah,
this sounds great.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Yeah, it's gonna be interesting to see do they what
they eat that guy got Georgan? Okay, you know, yeah,
I don't know that they'll get more than Trevor. You know,
you look at this pedigree, Rob, but they Jordan was
better last year and you know, obviously over the second
half of the season than Trevor's ever been for a stretch.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Tua.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Rob did have a better season last year than Trevor's
ever had. So there you go, and you know the
agents are gonna have the numbers and put that out.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
That's what they did about that, right all right?
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Your thoughts Trevor Lawrence?

your thoughts?
Speaker 4 (15:46):
Elvis in Alabama? You're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
What's up? Elvis and Chris?
Speaker 9 (15:52):
Good to talk to you again, man, Alway you too.
Let me preface all of this by saying, I would
you have to determine something I ask about players and
certainly owners all the time. What is your goal? Because
I'm one hundred percent convinced that not every owner is
the goal is to win the Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (16:12):
Well, I don't know if it's not that, Elvis.
Speaker 9 (16:15):
The goal is to make money anyway, But.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Everybody can't win. Everybody can't win. It doesn't mean that
you don't want to win. I mean like that, Yeah,
I got you gotta be careful like your goal.
Speaker 9 (16:27):
If that's your goal to win the super Bowl, then
you have to take advantage of the rookie contract.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Well the Rams, they Rams won the super Bowl without that.
They said, f the picks. They paid Matthew Stafford a
ton of money and they won a super Bowl. That's
not It's not the only way to win a super Bowl.
Elvis is just still.
Speaker 9 (16:47):
I didn't say it was the only way, but it
is a huge advantage, and I think you have to
take it and take advantage. So are you.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Saying are you saying they should not have paid him yet?
Speaker 6 (16:58):
And that is exactly okay?
Speaker 4 (17:00):
All right, I wish thank you appreciate it. Adam and DC.
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up
at him?
Speaker 9 (17:07):
Hey?
Speaker 10 (17:07):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (17:08):
My guy?
Speaker 10 (17:08):
My favorite video show?
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Thank you man?
Speaker 10 (17:11):
You know I love you, man, But I can't believe
they gave that boy two seventy five or five years.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
He hasn't done anything.
Speaker 10 (17:17):
On the field. And I told Rob g Man, I'm
not trying.
Speaker 11 (17:20):
To play that card.
Speaker 10 (17:21):
Right, But it's crazy to me that people that get deals,
what's the people that don't get deals?
Speaker 9 (17:26):
You got an MVP.
Speaker 10 (17:28):
Phenomenal generational player that had to essentially like go roll
to get what's the same amount of money, and you
got this guy who I'm not calling him a bum
because I like the kid, and I hope the kids.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
They said he can't missed, they would remember when it
came out.
Speaker 10 (17:42):
People missing them that the only thing I ain't missing it.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
That's it.
Speaker 9 (17:46):
Yeah, that's easy, bro.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
No, I mean, that's that's all I'm saying. I just
I just haven't seen quite enough. I think probably he,
you know, would be the guy going forward, Rob, but
I just want to see more. I gotta see some
more consistent superstar level play.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
MJ and New Orleans joined the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, MJ?
Speaker 11 (18:09):
What's going on? Fellas doing great?
Speaker 6 (18:11):
How are you all right?
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Man?
Speaker 11 (18:13):
I'm hanging in. I'm hanging in, just getting off, but
definitely checking you guys out as always.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
We appreciate that. You know it.
Speaker 11 (18:19):
No God, Trevor Sunshine Lawrence, the number has been called,
so come on up. He's the next QB to be
paid this lack on the price is right. Good move, Chris,
because you're gonna pay more later.
Speaker 9 (18:33):
QB's getting paid, taking up.
Speaker 11 (18:35):
Forty plus percent of the salver cap. It's going to
continue into the stop ping by position.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Have you seen enough to make you think he's gonna
be great, like no doubt, great player.
Speaker 11 (18:47):
Going forward, Chris, This isn't I.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Ain't asked you about the landscape. I'm asking you. Have
you personally seen enough to think he's gonna definitely be
a great player going forward.
Speaker 11 (19:01):
First, I gotta be honest with you, man, I'm gonna
be honest with you and Rod. I no longer watch football, Well,
I don't. I watched college football. I don't watch the
NFL the border. I'm a cap a nixtport. I just
started not to watch. But I saw him in college.
As Rob said, he was a sure best college.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
They raved about him before he was phenomenon.
Speaker 11 (19:28):
But when you get to this level, just like they
did with Dak, when you did with Lamar Jacks, you
waited five years, the money went up, and it is
what it is once that if you get him on
that three year and you cam after three years, you
won't be paying two hundred million dollars. But now that's
just what the camp is you paying by position ravenue?
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Yeah, that is the that's the worst thing that happens. Uh,
it is it's the position, not the person. Scott in
North Carolina, you're in the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
What's up, Scott?
Speaker 12 (20:01):
What's my guys?
Speaker 3 (20:02):
How you doing?
Speaker 12 (20:05):
I'm blessed man. I can't lie man overnight. The price
is right, y'all showing y'all age right there.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
I know, I know the night time version was the one.
Dennis shame that I don't remember that. I'm just a
lot younger than not a lot. He's a little bit,
you know. You can't tell because his hair is really great.
It's really great. If Chris has Chris staying right.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
Hey, Scott, Chris's hair would be he would look like
Santa Claus if he let it be.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
That what you got.
Speaker 12 (20:37):
But I gotta agree with you, Chris. Though this guy
come out of high school college. Uh, they were talking
crazy about the man never lost the game, and he
hasn't shown me anything to prove to me that he's
going to be a top tair quarterback. And with the
conference of uh patching the homes Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson.
You don't want to tell yourself to mediocrity just getting
(20:59):
in the playoffs, and was in the playoffs, So I mean,
I wouldn't say I wouldn't pay him.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
I just you want a way to get That's exactly
where I'm at. Look Rob, justin Herbert. We know he
hasn't won a playoff game yet, but I saw enough
from Herbert to let make me believe this is the
guy I want going forward, Like he's great.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
And I just remember he had Lawrence.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
A lot of late interceptions last year. Yeah, he's hasn't.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Been perfect, but I've seen enough like consistent star level
play for me to feel like like I had no
problem with them paying him.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
I thought that was definitely the right move. So all right.
Kerry Kittles around the Corner.

He's a former NBA veteran Fox Sports Radio NBA analysts,
played in two NBA finals.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
And led the league in being fouled out in the
NBA finals. Right carry No, I said, and let and
led the league in being filed out in the NBA Finals.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
Is that you no? Or is that Luca?
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Well? That carry your dude? You love Luca, sir, you
know I love Luca. I think I was the first
really to call him Luca legend. But what are your
thoughts after what you saw last night and really the
whole series, but particularly last night because he's taking some
shots from the.
Speaker 6 (22:36):
Media, He's taking something. He's taking some well deserved shots, Chris.
I mean, geez, It's it's performances, right, are just so
disheartneys as a fan of a former player. When you
watch brilliant he can be offensively with his skill level,
and then the other parts of the game that really
impacts the team's ability to win, to come together, to win,
(22:59):
some play collectively together against a very good Boston team.
I mean the complaining. It starts right with the complaining,
the lack of effort defensively and the carroless fouls. So yeah,
I mean, he's he's twenty five years old. His talent
his disguise of limit for him talent wise, but I
mean we still see a player even at this level,
(23:20):
elite level in the MVP conversation is still having to
grow and improve and get better, which is still.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
A challenge for him, right, right, So how surprised are
you that where they are down all three?
Speaker 3 (23:34):
You know, I mean.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
I know you what was your original pick? I know
it was Dallas. How many games did you have?
Speaker 6 (23:41):
Yeah? I thought Dash would definitely play better than what
they've played. I mean, they've kind of had everything Kalina
collapsing all at once, right, where besides Luca being consistent offensively,
Kyrie really had to shun up until game three?
Speaker 12 (23:56):
Right?
Speaker 6 (23:56):
The players, the role players are non existent. They really
haven't impacted the game at all. And so you know,
to be able not to win one in Boston, to
come home and lay an egg and play the way
they played the at home, it's just you know, I
didn't see the series playing out that way. I thought
it would be a competitive series, you know, six seven games.
But I mean, do they have enough to not get swept?
(24:18):
I think they they have to dig deep. But I mean,
Jayson Kidd has been there with us with the nets
and we've we've had some moments against the Lakers back
in those two or three. So yeah, I mean this
is disheartening.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
It's this performance, Carrie, I Boston. There's been some talk.
It was actually before the series the Boston Globe bro.
If they win the championship, remember that they will be
one of the all time. There's a big case for
them to be one of the greatest teams ever if
they sweep, or even if they don't. But let's say
(24:53):
they sweet. They're sixteen and two in the playoffs, they
won sixty four games. Obviously, they will be the first
team ever to sweep the East. The conference finals and
the finals. They won by an average of eleven points
a game. That's one of the top five margins of
victory in NBA history.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
They won the East by fourteen points a game.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Like all the numbers, greatest offense ever in terms of
offensive rating, third best defense in terms of defensive rating
this year, third best this year, Like all the numbers say,
they are one of the all time great teams. Carrie,
I can't go there. I do not think they're one
of the all time great teams. But where would you
(25:36):
be on that?
Speaker 6 (25:38):
Yeah, no, I'm not I'm not going that far. I mean, look,
they had a great run, right, They had a great
stretch of basketball for a good month, month and a
half where they played exceptional basketball, which is hard to sustain.
I mean, the playoffs is intense. You know, everyone's emotions
are high. You know, you're trying to stay on the
same page. You're dealing with all the runs that happened
(25:58):
in the game. Naw, these big wings and big swings,
and you know, you lose a game and now you
have to come back and win. So it's it's tough,
but to lose only two games thus far, it's it's
just a great stretch of basketball. They've been able to
put it all together without that big man for Zingers
in a lot of those games, so that's another bonus
to it. But but trying to compare them to some
(26:19):
of the all time great teams, know that's that's definitely premature.
They have to go back there, like like Tatum said,
they have to run it back next year and prove
to us right that there are that team and that
we can rely on them.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
They need to.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
Win one first, though. Can't they win one before we
get to running it back. You gotta win one. I
mean people talk about that there's no guarantee that you're
gonna win again. But they needed to win this year
and they and it looks like they're going to do it.
Here's my question though, where people fooled? Were Worthy?
Speaker 6 (26:51):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Dallas Mavericks fools goal?
Speaker 4 (26:53):
And I know everybody, a lot of people picked them,
a lot of people love the Kyrie and Luca and
look at what they're gonna do and that, and my
only question is on paper, Boston is a way better
team on paper, And so why are we so surprised.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
I think we're just surprised that a three year old
start at a three year old start. I mean, we're
not surprised to see Boston, you know, played the way
they played, but to be up three love and the finals,
I think everyone will no one this, No, I.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Agree with that.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
I'm just like, but they But Chris talked about it,
like the sixty four wins, what are they won? Fifteen
and two? Seven and oher on the road. They haven't
lost the road playoff game. I mean it's people don't
like the way they win or lose, and it's like, oh,
they struggle with Indiana, they did this, they should have
lost that game, they should have lost this game. But
(27:47):
in the postseason, isn't it just about winning? It's just
shouldn't it just be no style points who's winning.
Speaker 6 (27:54):
Yeah, And let's not dismiss the fact that the NBA
a lot of times this matchup problem right right, Like
you have a great all they have some great on
the ball defenders, and Drew Holiday and Jalen Brown and
Tatum when he's locked in, you know, pitches off the bench.
He comes in and he locks down and tries to
make it hard. So you know, obviously Derek White East,
(28:17):
he's all over the place with his activity, his hands
sold and his IQ so de Physively they are solid.
And I think then remember back when when Shaq paid
against the Houston Rockets and it was like they have
Penny and old guys and they went up against Keem
Olajahwhat that's just a matchup problem. So oftentimes in the NBA,
had happens right when you go against teams that just
(28:40):
really met the well against you. You don't have an
answer for him right now? They don't, right. The role
players can't help them at all, whatever reason they can't
get involved. We haven't seen any rim lobs, any lobs
to Gafford and Lively. They haven't done anything. So I
mean Boston is locked in on both ends of the court,
and they didn't care right when he said Jenny Brown
(29:03):
is better than Tatum, I mean these three games, I was.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Gonna ask you that.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Look, I think I think Brown's, at least right now,
looks like he's gonna be the finals MVP.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Yes, certainly is at this point.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
I still think Tatum is their best player, but I
do think it's closer than we probably start going into
these players.
Speaker 6 (29:20):
Agree, I agree, I agree. I think he's he's he's
taking his game to the next level. I mean the
shots he's made, you know, the mid range shots, the slashing.
I mean, defensively, he is, oh my god, like lockdown.
He is incredible defensively, I haven't seen him play like this,
(29:40):
and so he's hungry for a title, and I mean
it's it's a it's a great run for the Suer
this year. I'm happy for him, and and it's you know,
I'm sad to see the Masks that didn't give him
much of a fight. Hopefully they at least ticket to Farge.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
What about Missoula, I mean the question marks about him
and uh, maybe he won the right guy by and
things didn't work out. This will be big for him
that the Celtics put him on. He wasn't even on
the main bench when he was assistant coach. He was
on the second group. And now this guy is on
the cusp of winning a championship.
Speaker 6 (30:16):
Yeah, listen, he's a he's a very very good young coach.
You know, the jury is still out, and I will
say this with Chris said earlier, it's just a roster man.
They're on paper, they are so much deeper than the mask.
But yeah, I mean, listen, he got those guys ready
for those tough roll games. They had to go win
the Indiana They went in there and won some games.
(30:38):
You know, they came in and and and really laid
the hammer on Dallas. They came came up the gates
flow in game three, but really fought back. So he's
been able to put their buttons. He's got Tatum and
Brown figuring out how to play well together and and
and buy in. Yeah, he's a he's a great young coach.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
Carrie. If you were coaching or in the front office
for the MAVs, let's say they whether they get swept
or in five, whatever it is, what are your main
priorities like this off season that you want to change
correct ad whatever for next year.
Speaker 6 (31:15):
I mean, how do you how do you take pressure
off of Kyrie and Luca where they feel well. Listen,
we've seen Luca by his fourth quarter stats are really
you know, abysmal, right, It's like fourth quarter he has
no gas in the tank. So he has to get
in shape.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
Is he out of shape? I was just going to
say that he's out of shot.
Speaker 6 (31:33):
Yeah, yeah, he's the where tell the season, trying to
go for that MVP. You know, thirty four points nine rebound.
I mean, he's put a lot of models this year
on his body, so he's got to get in better
shape physically. We know that everyone said that he can't
he can't continue to do that. But as far as
the rest of the team, they definitely needed a sniper.
(31:53):
I don't know where you can find one. But until
you can space the court where he can have more
space to operate, they're gonna shrink the court and make
him into a passer and he's going to be taking
a lot of tough shots. He's not going to pass.
He's going to continue to look to score, but they
have to find that the right pieces around him. Definitely
go through some three and d guys. That's what they need.
(32:16):
They have size up front, right, I think it's mostly
just the shooting. Three point shooting is a you know,
a priority in today's game.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
Carry, When you went to the finals your first time,
did you know that, like, did it put a strain
on you physically as far as stamina and stuff like,
because obviously you're not used to playing that many games
in the season.
Speaker 6 (32:40):
No, no, not me. I was not, not not physically.
But you know, our game was different than today's game.
You know, talk about before. Today's more modern game is
a lot more running, and it's taxing on the body.
It's taxing on the joints. We're seeing the injuries and
pazingis is out again. So you know, the nineties game
(33:02):
was more slow paced. You know, you can rest on defense.
Now you can't rush. You have to go chase guys
off the line, and you have to go all those
dribble handoff and driving kicks and so yeah, it's a
harder game now on the body.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
All right, that's our man. Carrie Kittle's great stuff.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Man, Thank you.
Speaker 7 (33:18):
Carry.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
Appreciate it, guys, I.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Appreciate it all right, brother peace MORI couple come in
your way. Who's going to be the Finals MVP? And
if it's not j Tatum, is that a problem?

You know what this is? Ron Bewitch?
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Really?
Speaker 3 (33:55):
No? No, I don't know. Oh I thought it was bewitched.
What is this? My favorite Martian?
Speaker 6 (34:02):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Yes, my favorite Martian.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
I knew you did anything but watch TV when you
were younger. Rover heard of that?
Speaker 3 (34:11):
My favorite?
Speaker 1 (34:12):
I never heard of that.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Wasn't Bill Bixby in that? I think?
Speaker 2 (34:16):
So?
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Chris? Wow, No, I know I had no luck. I'm impressed, though, I.
Speaker 13 (34:22):
Remember all kinds of stuff like that. That's about it,
all right, Rob, Look, let me say this right now,
Jalen Brown's the MVP of the Finals.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Would you would agree with that? Right? Problem? I don't
even think it's a question.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
It's possible, you know, maybe if it extends five and
Jason Tatum is great in the next two games and
Brown struggles I mean it.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Could be taking Brown's like, yeah, it has a bad
night and game four and then gave five.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Tatum has forty and they win a clud change.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Yeah, and I think he have to like if they
sweep him. I don't think it can be Tatum. I mean,
I guess if Brown is that bad, he'd have to
be horrible.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
Well, we did see cobe get it when he shot
nine for what was that number?
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Remember that twenty four like rebounds? Yeah, that was that
was terrible.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Yeah, I thought you thought there was definitely an argument
for Powell.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Powell in the Big Game, he was like eighteen and nineteen.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
Chris wasn't something about he averaged like nineteen and eleven
or something.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
But but I mean Kobe had better numbers overall, but
that last game was awful, like four, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
But anyway, my point is this, you may agree with me,
I don't. I don't know where you'll be at, Rob.
There will be some that criticized Jason Tatum if he's
not the finals MVP, and like I mean almost almost,
I'm not totally like it wasn't his championship or you know,
(35:57):
it didn't quote unquote count like he's gotta lead him
to one and all that, which I would I think
would be garbage. I think there was a very similar
situation when Detroit won their first championship and it was
clearly Isaiah Thomas' team.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
He was the best player, but du Mars was close.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
You know, he was a legitimate All Star himself, just
like Brown, and du Mars was better in those finals,
and he won the finals. MVP averaged twenty seven points
a game, and Isaiah was fine. Isaiah was as happy
as a lark, right. But my point, it's a team game.
(36:39):
I'm saying, I don't care if I'm one of those guys.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
I don't care who was the finals MVBA.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
We're human.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
You like to shine and when you're a star, you
know there is that extra element that you.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
Gotta be a star.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
And I get all that, But I'm just saying, like,
I don't think it'll be fair. If people are critical
of Tatum. You can call out he didn't play as
well as he should have, but to act like it's
less of a championship for him, I mean, Steph has
four championships, only one finals. MVP Kareem has six championships
(37:15):
only two finals MVPs. Like Bird didn't win the finals
MVP is first time Magic didn't win, only won three
out of five finals MVPs. So you know it should
not be in any way looked down upon, or Tatum
shouldn't be belittled if indeed, which looks like very likely,
(37:36):
he's not the finals MVP.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
That's all I'm saying, Rob.
Speaker 4 (37:39):
Yeah, I don't think you can hold it against him, Tatum.
They won well, you know, everybody was saying that that
they couldn't get it done, they couldn't win. Once you win,
you win, and you and it doesn't matter at that point.
The only way that that really affects you, Chrits I think,
or you could have people can question where you fit
(37:59):
in as if they say, won three championships and Tatum
didn't win any of the finals MVP, then you might
be able to go like.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Was he really the main guy?
Speaker 4 (38:09):
Like that's the only way, Like if he win one
next year, I mean Brown wanted this year, Chris next
year Tatum won, if they won back to back or so,
it wouldn't matter. That's the only way it would really
affect him. Other than that, I don't think anybody he's
a chair. He'll be a champion, that's all that matters.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
Yeah, And I also think we talk about this all
the time. When you're talking about goat, you nit pick, right,
And if you were in some type of goat debate, oh,
that that becomes an issue. But he's not gonna be
in that obviously, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
All right, Keep it like a couple.
