(00:57):
The Celtic Celtics try to close out the Dallas Mavericks tonight.
Game was starting about thirty five minutes or so, and
they're up three to one and they'll try to win
their eighteenth championship. That'd be the most ever, Rob, more

(01:17):
than the Lakers with seventeen. But I agree with you.
I mean the Lakers have been far better recently, like
they won most of them obviously in the sixties with
Bill Russell and then they won three in the nineties
with Larry Bird and since then they got one.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
This will be two when they were like eight to
ten teams in the NBA.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
And I'm not it was just the year of Chris
it was I told you, I said this all the time.
The Yankees, the Montreal Canadians, Green Bay Packers, and the Celtics.
Those are the teams that won all the championships.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Well, to your point, Rob, the Chiefs, right, they're trying
to make history and become the first team to win
three straight Super Bowls.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
But Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Under Vince Lomvardi won way more than three straight championships.
I think they won they I know they won more
than three straight because they won two the first two
Super bowl if I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
They also in forty ANFL champion champ when it was
an NFL championship, right right, No, no, No, the Packers they
used to win.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
I mean they were the team.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
So yeah, they won three straight twenty nine, thirty and
nineteen thirty one.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Then they won uh.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Sixty one, sixty two, sixty five, sixty six, sixty seven,
So that's three right there.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
That's what I'm saying. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
So yeah, but we'll say the Chiefs are going for
the first three p in Super Bowl history.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
So yeah, you're you're absolutely right about that.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
You know, there was no movement nobody when you had
a good team, chrisch.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
You had a good team for a long time. Nobody
was it. Nobody could messed with nobody I was going anywhere.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
I think in the fifties, the Yankees went to the
World Series eight times out in the fifties, I mean
eight times.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
And that was when there was just the Pennant, Right,
you have the best American league, they had the best team.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
They won the American League. There were twelve teams in
each league, and they went straight to the World Series.
There was no playoffs, and the Montreal Canadians, I don't
know what it was, but they won a gazillion Stanley
Cups during that time.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
I love the playoffs in baseball.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
You know that you didn't like the expansion at first,
but I was wrong, right. It's added some drama and
some excitement. But Rob, and we've probably addressed this before,
the best way to find out who the best team
was would be to just have it like it was
used to be. Winter the American League, best record in

(03:46):
the American League, plays best record in the National League
in the World Series. And that's it, right, because you
take away all the chances of upsets, and they happened
in baseball more than anything else.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
More than the best team in the best team don't
normally win. We talked about all the time they don't, yep.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
But I like the way you know that we do it,
the drama of it. Yeah, I agree. So Klay Thompson, Rob,
we know, all time.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Great player for the Warriors, and uh a critical part
in their four championships that they've won during this dynastic run.
With Steph Curry and Draymond Green, that's the big three.
But it looks like it's over.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Rob. And remember before this season.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
The Warriors offered Klay Thompson a two year, forty eight
million dollar deal, which I think was quite generous, to
be honest. He's thirty four, he's played thirteen years. He's
still a very good player, average eighteen point shot thirty
nine percent from three, so it's not like he's done.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
But he's not what he used to be at Nora.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
They right, so they need to cut some salary and
they're their negotiations with him are going nowhere, and so
Rob over the weekend, Clay unfollowed them and followed Paolo
bin Carroll of the Orlando Magic, who are known to
be interested in Clay, and also the La Laker Austin

(05:21):
Reeves of the Lakers, who Clay is from La. His
dad played for the Lakers, won championships with the Showtime Lakers,
so that that is a natural fit if indeed, you know,
Clay wants to go there. But Draymond Green Rob talked
about it, and here's what he said.

Speaker 5 (05:39):
I know all of you are probably looking forward to
me talking about Clay unfollowing the Warriors and deleting some
IG posts or something. I had no idea that happened.
I think it's hilarious. Just so y'all know, I lie.
When Jackson I logged on here and Jackson's like, Yo,
so what about Clay, I'm like, what, Like what happened?

Speaker 2 (05:58):
It's like, oh, he unfollowed the Warrior. I think that's comical.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
I know you all be one like somebody feelings to
be heard of something. It ain't that ain't never going
to be that. That's hilarious. Where are you at on
this route.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
It ain't hilarious, it's pathetic.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
And if I'm the Golden State Warriors, I got a
message for Clay Thompson.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
I would block him on social media? Would I would
block him? It's my Twitter and I'll block it if
I walk to block, if I want to block, if
I want to, you would block to if they tried
to dish you.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Tell Clay Thompson to go jump in the lake? Who cares? Well?
Clay loves the way right, who cares?

Speaker 6 (06:45):
I'm still heard they paid him millions and millions of
dollars and.

Speaker 7 (06:50):
He ain't just dame playing now and he wants them
to give him welfare, pay me a match, contracting me
a lot of money even though I'm not the player.
And I'm gonna act like a big baby, and I'm
gonna unfollow you, and I'm gonna go ahead.

Speaker 8 (07:06):
And I'm gonna follow the Orlando Magic. Take your light skin,
but down hold on, take your light skin, but down
to wrong with light skin to NBA cirism, colorism on the.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Odd couplet, that's gotta be racist.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
To NBA Siberia, which is better known as Orlando, go
down there, that's right, Clay, get over it.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
They have paid you handsomely. You're not the same player.

Speaker 6 (07:39):
It's okay, we all aren't the same as we were
ten years ago.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
This is over speak for yourself, all right, I might
need that, like Ali talking about Howard Goes, I might
need some help once in a while.

Speaker 6 (07:54):
Chris, enough with this big baby talk, baby talk, baby talk.
It's a wonder you can walk. That's Clay Thompson. Stop it,
my god.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Wow. Rob Harker at his best. My goodness, that was the.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
I'm sorry, I'm not gonna go as far as you are,
but i I'm with dramone in this, Rob.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
It is hilarious. And that's kind of what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yes, it is like when Kyler Murray unfollows the Arizona Cardinals. Okay,
you played there three years, you're young, your early twenties,
you just got out of skill has made Rowley with
the war, right, Antonio Brown unfollows the Raiders. He didn't
even play a game by the Raiders. Like, I'm sorry, Clay.

(08:42):
When Rob, when when you unfollow somebody, it's like you're
trying to just erase the history.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Right, We're done. I never was here. I'm sick of
y'all like, I ain't even.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
No Clay Thompson, you are a Warrior, and believe you me,
you want us to think of you as a Warrior.
One hundred's history, dude, We're not gonna do you the
disservice of erasing your history with the Warriors.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Like that's the thing, right, He's he's beyond this. You're right,
it's childish.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
And Antonio Brown, we know he's kind of out there,
so he do something like that. Kyler Murray's a young
guy playing video games all the time.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
He might do something like that.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Clay, you're a four time champion with the only franchise
you've ever been with. You're thirty four years old, a veteran,
close to retirement.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Dude, you're better than that.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
That's what it does feel funny, rob really like we're
not supposed to remember you were with the Warriors.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
And here's the end too, and the Warriors season ending
lost christ to the Kings. And this year in the
play in you ready, Clay Thompson er for ten, shooting
oh for six from deep, no points, one assist, one
turnover in thirty one minutes. It's the big baby who's
now gonna unfollow the Warriors.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
No, I mean, what do you want them to do?
They paid you, Chris what they paid you, and I.

Speaker 6 (10:09):
Would do a nice deal forty eight million dollars for
two years at this stage in your career.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Come on, I.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Will say this. Look, I will say this on Clay's behalf.
I do get while it's not logical, Rob, I get
the emotions he's going through because you're saying, hold up,
you get Steph. Right with Steph's in a different category. Okay,
but hold on, you gave Draymon one hundred million dollar

(10:37):
extension and he is not only you know you can argue.
I mean, they're totally different types of players. You if
you want to argue which one is more valuable, they're both.
Clay is probably is better than Draymond. Rob, when you
would you agree with that has been better? But you
know Draymond's the defender, you know the inoration he added yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
To the team that that Clay doesn't even though Clay's
a better player.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Right right, So Clay is saying, not only am I
better than Draymond? And I'm not trying making him against Draymond,
but just in your mind, you're thinking I'm better. And
this dude is run y'all through the ringer. This dude
has been suspended. He cost us a finals. He you know,
he punched out Jordan, Like you're if you're Clay, you're saying,

(11:25):
look at all he's put the franchise through and you're
gonna pay him and not me. So I get it.
I get his feeling drop. I'm still with Look, the
Warriors have to move. They're not gonna win the championship
next year, so I can't, like you said, if I
could get Hey, they offered him twenty four millions.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Look at it like that, Like twenty four million, Chris,
and the numbers. I just read the last playing game
right in the playoffs, you went scoreless.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
I mean like like, yeah, career, he's a better player now.
But yeah, I mean twenty four is good.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
And I mean they probably didn't want don't want to
really offer you anything just because not because you're right,
they're doing it out of respect for who you are
and who you've been and Rob. You remember it's ironic.
We were talking about them earlier, but the Bird Celtics,
they stayed together too long, they.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
Kept pairs played any of those guys, Chris and it
wound up hurting them when they all.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Left and retired. That has a long drought. What was it,
twenty two years, twenty four years that had a drought yep, yep.
And you know Reggie Lewis is passing.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Unfortunately that didn't help, right, But yeah, they had a
drought and the Warriors are trying to avoid that. Now
they're not gonna be championship caliber, but you know they're
gonna start playing some of the young guys up more,
featuring them put Zimski and and and Jonathan Kaminga and
these guys along with Steph. Maybe they'll try to make

(12:56):
another move to get a better player. But yeah, it's
a it's just time is a business. Bob Meyers, the
former GM for the Warriors, rode he's on ESPN now
because of this.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
He didn't want to deal with this. It is hard.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Jeff Van Gundy used to say, the hardest thing is
dealing with aging superstars. No, remember the Nick's traded under
his watch, traded Patrick Eweyn.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
You know what, you can't fall in love with the past,
and it's it's a tough thing. And and I don't
always I haven't always agreed with Bill Belichick and the
Patriots and what they've done because they utilize, they use
a lot of people Chris and didn't pay them, So
I don't respect.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
They got rid of guys early, way early.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
But I got what the thinking was, you know what
I mean, you get something out of them and then
you know, you move on so you don't have to
pay them.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
And I don't think that's fair to the players.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
But you can't live in the past and hold on
the stuff like that because you'll be in trouble. And
we saw with the Celtics during that run they kept
all those guys. They didn't want to part with that.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
I would like to see Clay like Orlando. Look, he
would help them. He's a veteran. He obviously could teach
him how to win. There's still not a championship level
team in my view.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
LA.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
I like to see him in La. Rob not that
they win a title, but he could help them. You know,
they need a knockdown shooter again. Another veteran of Philadelphia
is another one. Robbed like, if they could get Paul
George and Clay. But I don't know if he's thinking,
you know, I mean, Orlando is an East coast, so
he must be willing to travel.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
And also maybe you know, if Clay that takes a
night off on the radio, he could fill in there,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Maybe because Okay, see another team Rob, that makes sense.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
They need a veteran, right veteran presence and maybe take
them to the next level. All right, eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox, Chris and robbed the a couple.
Clay Thompson unfollows the Warriors. We like Clay but a
bit juvenile.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
You know, this is the Rob.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
This is the the perfect act your age, right, the
enemy of act, your age, your shoes. Yeah, it's just like,
come on, dude, really, you're I think of Clay as
an adult, you know, Like, come on, I an't worry
about unfollowing somebody.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
All right, eight sevens of a ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Your thoughts about Klay Thompson maybe moving on and unfollowing
the Warriors and all that?

Speaker 2 (15:26):
I comele Fox Sports Radio.

seven ninety nine on Fox. We are broadcasting live, of
course from the Tirereck dot Com studios.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
All right, you turn the way in on Klay Thompson.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
He unfollows the Warriors, and this looks like the end
of an era. In Golden State four championships, Stephen Clay,
the Splash Brothers the best ride for my money, and
I don't I mean, they're the best backcourt ever to me?

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Do you disagree? I got Isaiah and Dumar second.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
Yeah, I mean that's probably the the two right there,
especially they won what Ford Joe and Yep Isaiah one
back to back in the ninety two k.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Darn close to win in three straight right Yep seven
the year before they won their fir with some backcourt.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
That team that was all right eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox is our number, Chris, let's uh kick
it off with Innis in Corona, California.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
You're in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Innis?

Speaker 10 (17:18):
Okay, guys, great shore is always Uh Chris, Happy Father's
Day to you and rod it Magic City Monday. There
you go go through college. Thank you, brother.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
You know, somebody's got to do it, somebody.

Speaker 10 (17:29):
Right, Yeah, But foul by clay Man. You know, when
he tours a cl he was asked if he would
take a dis hometown discount and he said, no way,
And the Warriors paid him and they give him that
max contract extension back then, and he didn't play for
two straight years, ten years. He didn't play.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
Yeah, no, they paid them, They paid them right, and
they get it. He was hurt. But but what do
you want? What do you want them to do?

Speaker 4 (17:58):
I don't I don't understand what he wants exactly.

Speaker 10 (18:00):
And not only that, but like even Kobe at the end,
he took a two year, forty million dollar contract. That
was the last contract extension he took. You can't take
two for forty eight to stay where you're right career.
I don't know, man, it's fouled by him, like he
wants to get his money. Good for him, but I
think it's a bad move, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
He's thirty four, thirteenth year and coming off several surgeries.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Right, I was gonna say he's an old thirty four.
He's an old thirty four. We love you your number.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
Being the Rafters, there should be no hard feelings. But
I get while they're ready to move. I get both sides.
I mean, I don't think you should have unfollowed them,
but I get why he's hurt.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
You know, yep?

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Jd in Phoenix, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
What's up, j Drey, what's up?

Speaker 11 (18:45):
Guys? What's up?

Speaker 3 (18:45):
Guess how you guys doing?

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Doing great? Doing great? Man?

Speaker 10 (18:49):
Old Clay Matthews thirty four eight Clay uh Tom Clay.

Speaker 12 (18:54):
Thompson thinking of Cleveland. Sorry, yeah, he's thirty something.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
He's like a teenager unfollowing them.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yeah, it really is.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Yeah, just Rob the only sixty year old that blocks people.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Dottie, I blocked him, ask him, but don't you.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
The Lakers scared he's gonna go over to the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
I think he fits. I love him with the Lakers.
I don't think it puts them. They shoot over ten
for the Lakers. Let him do that.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
No, I think he's what they need. I mean they
need more to but I like that move. Robb Gi,
you're the resident Lakers fan.

Speaker 10 (19:31):
You like Clay Thompson, like that Lakers fan.

Speaker 13 (19:35):
Yeah, I've been saying for years now that Klay Thompson
is a hashtag future Laker. Now we are closer than
ever to that becoming a reality. I'm not saying we're
gonna get him, obviously, right, you're gonna get him, get
what he's broke down and staying that. But but history
says when I put out a future Laker tweet that
we eventually get those guys, even if it takes ten

(19:58):
we get him.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
Anyways, b MJ, great for you. The Dicks get guys
like that, just right.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Hold the book down. MJ and New Orleans joined the
couple of Fox Sports Radio. Who but what you got?

Speaker 2 (20:10):
MJ?

Speaker 1 (20:11):
ORR?

Speaker 12 (20:12):
Know what's going on after you?

Speaker 3 (20:14):
Sir?

Speaker 12 (20:16):
All right, well, two things can be right at the
same time. The Warriors keeping Draymond for the next four
years and Mike's gonna leave the Juna saying that the
canny Green at that particular time with the team's top
priority and captain Clint following the Warriors, I don't condone it,
but I do understand, h if they don't have a shot,

(20:37):
as you say, that extra money that they gave to Draymond,
maybe that could play a part. I know they're trying
to move some pieces around, so if they're not really
gonna win, I would rather see them guys kind of
leave out on their own accord, so to speak. And
you know it is what it is.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Well, look, they did offering forty eight million over two years.
That's not a bad offer, man.

Speaker 12 (20:59):
People making forty million dollars a season nowadays.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
So you gotta no, I mean, but he ain't Is
he deserve Does he deservellion dollars?

Speaker 5 (21:07):
No?

Speaker 4 (21:07):
Come on, after the playoffs and you remember you wound
up getting bench this year he played so proudly.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Let me come on, He's not the same player.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
It's just is what it is, all right, Funky gold
Medina's around the corner.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search
FSR to listen live.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
He's a Fox Sports Radio NBA insider our man, Mark
Funky Cole Madina, Mark, whatever I'm.

Speaker 11 (21:43):
Doing, well, I'll tell you what. This celebration is going
to be more epic than any celebration we see with
the Celtics that they pulled us off tonight. I very
much want the interest songs. Always appreciate you guys.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
You don't get this intro.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
I know your other radio shows, you don't get this
type of introd.

Speaker 11 (21:58):
Never. I mean, there's a reason why you guys are
number one here. So there we go.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
There we go.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
Man, we were just talking Mark about the Clay Thompson situation,
him unfollowing the Warriors.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
I said that the Warriors should block him on social media.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Right where do you think this is?

Speaker 1 (22:17):
It seems like they're done. He followed the Austin Reeves
of the Lakers and Palo Banko of the Magic. Do
you think the Lakers is a realistic spot for him?
I think he's a good fit. I don't think he
puts him over the top, but I do think he
can help him and be a good fit.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Do you think that's realistic?

Speaker 11 (22:36):
It could be a realistic I mean, the Lakers have
a lot of needs, so I think from a from
a cap perspective, I don't know how much the Lakers
have to offer. I mean, their big play that they
can make is on NBA Draft Night or as early
as NBA Draft Night when they could use those three picks.
So if they were to get Klay Thompson, they would

(22:56):
have to make a trade ahead of time that clears
the books for or maybe what Clay is looking for.
And we also have to keep in mind with the Warriors,
they can't do a sign and trade with Clay because
they're above the second April. So I think, you know, naturally,
obviously Clay has a connection with the Lakers because of
his dad, Michael. He's always been pleading for Clay to

(23:17):
come down to LA. But unless the Lakers clear the deck,
I don't see that as the number one likelihood. I
think that Orlando's the most likely landing spot because they have,
you know, an ability to sign him at a higher number.
But look, I know that Rob was saying what he's
saying about the Warriors should block Clay, but their sentiment

(23:39):
about him having changed. They're not taking offense. It's really
going to come down to, you know, really money. I
mean they want to keep them. They trust that, you know,
the best play is to keep the band together with Steph,
Draymond and Clay.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
It's a mistake, but.

Speaker 11 (23:55):
They view it as it's got to be in like
the twenty million range, not only because of where he's
at in his career. But they're trying to make moves
to cut salary. Not because Joe Lacup wants to pat
his pockets. It's more of with them being above the
second Emperor and they suddenly can't make moves to make
the roster better. So, for what it's worth, Warriors aren't

(24:16):
saying good riddance. They have the snow optimism that they
can make this work. But yeah, you never know, this
is much different than it was, you know, back when
he was telling me and others he wants to be
a Warrior for life.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
Rob let me say this quickly and Mark, you know,
I covered several lockouts and I felt like the players
always ended up on the wrong side.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
They always lost to.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
The owners and gave up ground. And man, when I
mean it's not new, but this latest CBA. Man, it
is not player friendly at all. I know they're making
big money and I'm glad for that, but as far
as like the restrictions that are on teams, it is
tough for the you know, it really over the players.

Speaker 11 (25:02):
Yeah, I mean, I don't like it all around because
it favors the owners over the players. But even the
owners will complain about it because they feel that it
really inhibits their ability to you know, retain talent and
also be rewarded for the right things. I know people
in the Warriors organization they take specific issue with the

(25:23):
fact that, you know, they don't differentiate the NBA with
the salary cap as far as retaining players they developed
versus players they got in free agency, and they feel
that that's a contradiction from what the NBA is saying
that ideally they want teams that draft well and develop
their players because it gives smaller markets a better ability.

(25:45):
Yet to what you said, those financial penalties don't line
up with that. I think, since we're on the subject,
the other thing that has created some unintended consequences is
the ability to sign players to tensions with the Supermax
before their current deal expires and I think the spirit
of that was, let you know, teams have a better

(26:08):
chance to retain their own star players instead of them
leaving for free agency for nothing, as well as go
through the circus of that final season. But now that
extension deadline is the new free agency. So if a
team or a player it doesn't feel fully ready to
sign that extension, all of a sudden, one of the
parties thinks we got to end this, even though they

(26:28):
might have two three years left on their contract.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
Right, that's a great yeah, good point.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
You know, the owners do all that to basically to
handcuff themselves, you know, protect them.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Down all of the day. Right, it is up hurting
him too.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
All of it is about them. It's never been about
the salari cap. All that stuff is to stop them
from from driving up the price.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
That's what it is.

Speaker 11 (26:52):
Yeah, Chris, They've got a great point about they're they're
doing things, they're protect them from themselves. I remember that
whole amnesty provision. After the lockdown, we can wave a player.
It's like, why did you sign that player to that
amount of money in the first place? Right, wild across
the board.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Unbelievab All right, how about tonight game five and Boston.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
Who do you have and why?

Speaker 11 (27:14):
I think the Celtics win because they're at home. I
think for better and for worse, what we see with
the Celts this season is their level of competition and
focus depends on if they feel challenged or not. I
think they didn't feel challenged game four because they're up
three to zero. Now I think they're feeling they don't
want to mess around Porzingis, even if Limited is going
to play yep. And so even though I think that

(27:35):
Dallas is going to play much closer to how they
played in Game four than the first three games, I
don't think that's enough when you have a spocus Celtics
team that has a lot of depth.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
You saw before Game four they had Joe l Embiid
and Paul George on the second right, and MB was
suddenly or maybe not so suddenly recruiting Paul George.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Do you see what do you think it possibilities of that?

Speaker 1 (28:01):
I mean, George to me, maybe had his poker face
on him, but he didn't look like he wasn't, you know,
flirting with Joel, you know, so to speak the way
Joel George, I feel like he wants to say in Soca.

Speaker 11 (28:16):
Well, I'll say this. The way I read that it
was that Paul George wasn't flirting back with Joel Embiid,
but he was perfectly content soaking in the comment. Right,
So I know for a fact, and I mean it's
out there from other alets, but I learned the same thing.
I mean, the Sixers' main priority is to find a
wing player that's max caliber, uh, to pair them with

(28:38):
Joel Embiid and Tyres MAXI. Paul George fits that bill. Now,
the Clippers will say, yeah, we want to re sign
Paul George. But here's where I think there's some excuse me,
a source of contention here. The Clippers don't want to
sign him to a max Steel number one. Paul George
doesn't want to get signed only that to then get
the Blake Griffin getting traded later on before the trade

(29:03):
deadline goes. So with that, I think it's very realistic
that he winds up in a Sixers uniform.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Wow, it's over in Boston. It's too nothing, Lucas.

Speaker 11 (29:13):
Oh wait, it's three rimmed down. Never mind, that's it.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
That's the sign of what's h what's to come? And uh,
who do you have as the finals MVP.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
If it ended who's in the league going into this
game five, I think.

Speaker 11 (29:28):
It should be Drew Holiday. I mean, he's been the
most consistent player on both ends of the floor. If
I had a guest, though, I think it will go
to uh to Jason Tatum. You know, really, he hasn't
had the highest output, but I think that he'll get
credit because he's been a more willing playmaker. He's adapted

(29:50):
this game. But I think it should be Drew Holiday.
But I think that it will wind up being Jason
Tatum Jalen Brown.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
Heading into the I think.

Speaker 11 (29:59):
Tatum Courton to Jason could right, I mean.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Tatum could win it.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
I do agree with you, though I think some people
are are tearing him down more.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Than he deserves. He's played well, he hasn't shot well.

Speaker 4 (30:12):
But if tonight, I think if he has a big night,
he can win it.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
He can win it.

Speaker 11 (30:18):
If he has a big night, he can win it.
But I also I'm just trying to anticipate voter behavior.
I think that this is a way to almost rectify
the notion here that oh, you know, we think that
Jaylen Brown is the best player. We're knocking him because
he's not scoring as much and not rewarding him enough
for being a willing playmaker. So I think that's what
it is. But if I had a vote and I'm

(30:38):
looking at it objectively, it should be Drew Holiday.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
All right, there it is, Mark Funky Cole Madina. Let's
send him out in style, y'all. You know how we do.

Speaker 10 (30:50):
It.

Speaker 11 (30:51):
DJ crush.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Yeah, I'm waiting for my djail.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
He must be on the break or we beat should
come in there we go, all right, man, enjoy the game.

Speaker 11 (30:59):
Mark, Thank you, all right man?

Speaker 2 (31:28):
And Rob Parker.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
A little damage to the Dodgers, yeah, big time vets
and several weeks you'm moto Yeah.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Yeah, I mean back to back days Chris to lose
a picture starting pitcher on Saturday and then Sunday Mookie
gets a broken hand.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
I mean, thank god it's the left hand, but still
and it's only you know, they both just rest.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
Yeah, it's not it's not season ending or anything like that,
but it's a blow to the Dodgers, you know, Like
Mookie is as good as old Todi is.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
He had two solo home runs yesterday, Chris, Right, h
what is that?

Speaker 4 (32:08):
Nineteen? I think nineteen home runs. He's having a really
good year. But Mookie is a catalyst for that team.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
He really is. He's a great player to this day.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
Every time I think of the Red Sox letting that
guy go, like, what were you thinking?

Speaker 2 (32:24):
What are you not? Only did you win a World
Series with him?

Speaker 11 (32:27):
Right?

Speaker 2 (32:28):
Yeah? He wanted m VP like when he was young.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
Right, yeah, it's like whatever, they didn't want to pay
him money, not cap but money you got or relief
you got.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
You were gonna what were you gonna start doing? Looking
for another mooie? Right, that's the first thing you do
once you get rid of somebody like that. And now
I said he was young, It wasn't like he was old. Nah,
he had the best years ahead of himself. Right. So yeah,
And you know what I was on MLB netw with.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
The other day, Chris was Steve Phillips, who was filling
the Brian Kenny on MLB Now, and I said, I'm
just curious where you are.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
I said that the Dodgers.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
Were the most disappointing team in baseball this year, and
he was like what. And I was like, going into
that appearance on TV, Chris, they were nine and eleven
in their previous twenty like, that team is too good,
And I get it stretches in baseball as a long season,
you know what I mean, You're gonna have a little

(33:27):
bit of a lull. But they I thought they would
be like the Phillies and be like the Yankees, that
they would be of that ILK, Like those are two
clearly superior teams.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
Would you say that?

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Yeah, but I think I think I'm with Steve Phillips
on this. You think I'm too harsh, Yeah, rop they
got the second best record in the National League. They
lead the National League and runs scored lead the league,
meaning they've given up the fewest runs.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Aloud, like they're balding.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
They don't have the quite the record quite, but when
you look at that the Yankees and Phillies Phillies have,
I mean, they're right there.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
I just look at them and be like I expected
more and maybe because of the start. You remember how
they started started off great. They were scoring like eight
runs a game. Everybody was hitting three fifty and I
didn't expect that to last.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
Don't get me wrong, But Chris.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
You get past the first four or five guys, the
second half of that lineup is not good. They've been
They've been shut out a number of times. I don't
have the exact number, way more than you would think.
And there have been those nights where they only get
one run. That lineup is too good, And that's that's
what I'm saying about. They were supposed to be the
Beatles and they just I mean, it's been more like

(34:43):
I don't know, it doesn't feel like the Beatles.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
To me.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
It feels like, well.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
It doesn't, but I just feel like, again, that's hard
to predict in baseball, even though you put together stars
that it learning.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
And again, it's not like they're floundering, you know what
I mean. But nine and eleven out of twenty and straight,
they're in a tough stretch.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Yeah, But I mean again, for the course of the season,
Rob That's why they play so many games in baseball,
because you go through tough stretches, and you go through
hot streaks and they're.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
In a tough stretch.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
But even so they still have the second best record
in the National League.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
No, I get it.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
Instead of the Beatles, they sound more like or feel
like a strawberry alarm clock, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
No, I think they're good.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Let me ask you this right now, who's your national
league get MVP?

Speaker 5 (35:32):
Now?

Speaker 1 (35:33):
You got Judge in the American League? Right? What about
in the National League? Is it show Hey? I like
show Hey.

Speaker 4 (35:42):
It's hard, it's show Hey. You can look at what
the Phillies are doing, right, Who would I think Bryce
Harper Rice? But but I would look at Show He's
got nineteen home runs, he's hitting well. I mean yeah,
I think he's the MVP in the National League. And
I think judges in americaly. Don't you think what.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Are the odds?

Speaker 12 (36:03):
Now?

Speaker 4 (36:04):
Now, Mookie was in that conversation. Now, obviously in the
National he's out.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
Now, I would still have show Hay ahead of Mookie's.
But I think Mooie's right there.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
Yeah, he was right there with him. Yeah, I would
go with show Hair. Yeah, it's gonna be interesting to see.
You know.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
Mookie's such a catalyst. You know, he's just shortstop, Chris.
They got to replace him at shortstop. And how the
Dodgers do the Dodgers go down a little bit now,
you know what I mean? Or do they are they
were able to weather the storms? Six to eight weeks
is a long time.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
Oh no, you could fall out in that time. I
don't think they'll fall apart, Rob. I think they'll be fine.
But yeah, we're gonna see. And this is a chance
for show. Hey, if he really you know, plays great
and carries him Rob, this is a way he could

(36:56):
maybe wrap up that MVP or at least, you know, get
a comfortable league because right now he's fourth in batting
in the National League and second in home runs.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
But a Zuna is playing great.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
Yeah, but he has just head on right. He's a
tremendous player in left He's tough, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
So all right, it is the eye couple.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
I'm bummed out though, because you know, Mookie won't be
in the All Star Game Chris, which is in Arlington.
I'll be going down for that, you know what I mean.
You just hate to miss one of the best. He's
one of the top three players in the league. In baseball, like, right,
if you would do Otani, judge bets who you right,
Ronal Lacuna Junior, Right, he would be four and maybe

(37:39):
Bryce Harper five or you don't that your top five?

Speaker 2 (37:43):
Yeah, BET's is in there. Be's is definitely in the
top five.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
BET's is in the top five for sure, So no
doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
It's tough, it is, you know, you just hate to
see it.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
But I was so glad because Rob when I saw
a broken hand at first through the season is over right, I'm.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
Like, oh what this would be a problems?

Speaker 1 (38:00):
So glad he'll be back, all right, keep it like
a couple one hour left,
