Speaker 2 (00:24):
Let's give this.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
It is The Odd Couple Fox Sports Radio Rob Parker
along with the King Sean King, former NFL quarterback, filling
up for Chris Basard. Chris will be back tomorrow and
we are broadcasting live from the tire rag dot com
studios tire rach dot com. We'll help you get there
(00:51):
and unmatched selection, fast, free ship and free roadhadzs of
protection and over ten thousand recommended installers. That's right, tire Racht,
the way tire buying should be. And don't forget trash
talking Tuesday is coming up the bottom of the hour,
your chance to trash anyone anything in the world of sports.
(01:14):
You'll have thirty forty seconds. We will not interrupt you.
And Kurt Healing from nbcsports dot Com he's the lead
NBA writer. He'll be coming up in about twenty five
minutes or so. But let's talk Tua, right, is that
what we're going with the tour here? And he still
(01:35):
don't have a contract. They say that they're far apart
or something I guess, and Sean, I, you know you
brought him up earlier when from Salam was on and
you talked about Tua and you talked about Dak Prescott
and not pay. I agree from one standpoint with you
that I agree you should pay the player, not the position.
(01:58):
So I agree with that just because somebody that the
last quarterback was the highest paid doesn't mean the next
contract should be bigger than that. It should be about
what you've done as a player, your numbers.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
All that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
But in this case here with Miami and Rob G
do we have any more details on how far apart
of this was just a report right that it's not.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Close yet, and it was talk that they thought that
they would be a deal. I don't know what else
they want for Tua. He's not.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
He's not Lawrence, he's not six foot five, he's not
he's not going to be that guy. But man, he
stayed healthy last year. We got he went leaped over
a big hurdle. You gotta admit that Sean, where people
weren't sure if this guy could stay healthy with the concussions,
He's put up some tremendous numbers. I know they had
a bad playoff game, and you know they faltered against
(02:54):
some other teams and it wasn't a perfect season.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Put up seventy points.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
And then probably the best part is some of the
numbers rob G that we talked about when it came
to tour. As far as what he was able to
put up, I think only five other quarterbacks had done it.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Right? Was that the number? Rob G?
Speaker 4 (03:15):
So the number that's floating around on social media today
because you know, the report came out that the two
sides are far apart. You had a columnist in Miami
say that the Dolphins have quote never had full faith
and belief in Tua. So this stat came out, which
I thought you'd appreciate. Since nineteen eighty. Here's the list
of NFL quarterbacks nineteen eighty.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
I was sixteen. I remember that very vividly.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Here's the list of l quarterbacks who led the NFL
that year in pass yards, yards per attempt, and passer rating.
Dan Marino Hall of Famer, Peyton Manning, Hall of Famer,
Kurt Warner, Hall of Famer, Tom Brady, Hall of Famer,
Drew Brees, Hall of Famer, Philip Rivers potentially Hall of Fame. No, No, no,
(04:03):
and two. I went silent for him for a reason.
Ta Tunguavila and Sean I.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Play the game you want. You're Miami. You're still looking.
They haven't replaced Dan Marino. They haven't done anything. I
mean the Dolphins when you could think about how long
it's been and Don Shula and the history of that
franchise and whatnot, and you have a quarterback, is he perfect?
Speaker 5 (04:28):
No?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Who you got?
Speaker 1 (04:31):
I don't know what they're waiting on. I'm not saying
he's got to break the bank, but you gotta sign Tour.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
I'm sorry, I disagree.
Speaker 6 (04:38):
Here's why Brian Flores was so adamant that you can't
win a championship with Tour.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
That ultimately cost him his job.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
You're bringing Mike mcdoniel, who publicly has said all the
right things regarding to her, yet.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Obviously there's still some.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
Form of a disconnect between what the Dolphins feel like
too is worth based on what the marketplace is at
quarterback now when you I like too, he's gotten better
every year. But again, he was one concussion removed from
potentially never being able to play again.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
But he stayed healthy last year.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (05:09):
At the same time, Rob, he's never thrown for thirty
touchdowns in a season. He's thrown for over thirty five
hundred yards once, he's thrown for over four thousand and one.
So it's not like it's a guy that has multiple
years of big time statistics, So why do I have
to pay him the same thing that Joe Burrow is
getting paid, who's taking a team to a Super Bowl,
has two thirty plus touchdown years, who has two four
(05:32):
thousand plus passing yard years, Like, that's what the Dolphins
are saying.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
We like to him, We're comfortable with him.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
Being our starting quarterback, but we're not going to fall
into this cycle that's starting to happen in the NFL
where just because his contract is up, we have to
pay him on a level that his talent is a
commensurate to being paid.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
On and for the people said you can win a
super Bowl with two Okay, trentil for won of Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Let me give you some other names.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Jeff Hostedler won a Super Bowl long time ago. Different
Mark ripping one super Brad Johnson won a Super Bowl.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
I was on that tack. We have four Hall of
Famers on the defense. Okay, but he's still won't. That
ain't the way you can win.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
No league. I don't buy into that. Liken win a
Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
Contact Now that exists, the rule changes.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
It's all for God for seventy piece with extra sauce,
a seventy piece.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
Sean Payton's karma scored forty of those points.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Okay, that's nice. I just what's your solution.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
It's easy to say we don't want this guy, We're
gonna replace him.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
The longer you wait, the more it's gonna cost.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
And you could go get somebody else and go look
at all these teams that are desperate, desperate to get
a quarterback.
Speaker 6 (06:49):
I'd rather be able to allocate the resources and help
us be great and have elite personnel in other places
than just get caught up in what the quarterback market
is and feel like I'm being forced to overpay for
a quarterback that I know I can really improve upon it.
I don't want this to turn into a knock tour.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
That's what it is said. Because I don't hate on quarterbacks.
No former, you don't know quarterbacks pay.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
Shorter.
Speaker 6 (07:13):
I look at things objectively too, us not better than
Joe Burrow. So why did the Dolphins have to pay
to a Joe Burrow money?
Speaker 1 (07:20):
That is the market, because to have a quarterback in this.
Speaker 5 (07:23):
League market is bad right now?
Speaker 2 (07:25):
The quarterback you have no team talking about all that.
I go to the Giants. They can love Daniel Jones.
If you'd make with Daniel Jones.
Speaker 6 (07:34):
You know what, Yeah he should, but I'll probably a
don't get fired in New York. I think the Dolphins
are offering Daniel Jones type money. What Daniel get one sixty?
I mean he didn't get two thirty.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Last year?
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Ta led the league in passing yards forty six hundred
yards while ranking in the top five, and completions, touchdowns
and first downs.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
My god, what do you have to do? Do I
need to part the red seat to get a deal
with the Dolphins? No, no, I need to do.
Speaker 6 (08:03):
But if you want to be paid like Patrick Mahwls
and Joe Burrow and these guys, do it more than once?
Speaker 2 (08:08):
What do you mean doing more than once? He had
him show me year.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Everybody thought he was gonna get hurt last year and
he couldn't even complete a year or be healthy all year.
He did that and he performed enough with that, Let
me enough with like like payoff, I'm not you gotta
be the highest paid players, but.
Speaker 6 (08:25):
The market is dictating that he becomes the highest paid player.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
That's the whole argument you're around.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
No, it's not.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
You don't have to do that. No, it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
No, Son, we have a couple of quarterbacks who signed,
who didn't. Who was the each Jarion Golf didn't get
the highest paid at the time.
Speaker 6 (08:39):
I think guess he was. He wanted these guys. He
has been slightly more than a guy in front of him.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
No, no, No, Jared Golf did not get the highest deal.
He got maybe the highest percentage of like his salary,
but not money wise. He's the third highest and he
was like the last guy to get signed. Sean, it's
not automatic. Him and Jared Golf have the same amount
of Super Bowls. They both have none.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
No, Jared Goff took the Rams to one though, No,
I got it. They didn't win it. Tua hadn't sniffed
the title game yet total salary.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Jared Golf tenth, so don't tell me that it didn't automatically.
And he was the last guy to sign, so it's
not automatic that you have to be in some top
five or number one. Jared Goff is tenth. So the
Lions they took care of him, but they didn't go
overboard with Jared Golf, and the same thing with the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
I'm not saying break the bank for Tua, but I
don't know what is the turiff.
Speaker 6 (09:35):
Jared Golf has four years where he's thrown for more
than four thousand yards. You talk about how many yards
the tour threw four Jared Golf's done that twice. He
has two more years. We threw for forty five, forty five,
seventy five and forty four thirty eight nights, So he's
got multiple years when he's done with.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
Too is done once.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
That's nice.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
With that plus two seventy five will get you on
the subway in New York. I don't know what you
want me to do with that. I'm just saying, I
don't blame the Lions. I don't blame the cowboy. I
mean not the last a little blad the Dolphins, little
blame the Cowboys. All right, Rob G, can you give
us the salary structure for quarterbacks?
Speaker 5 (10:05):
Help us out? Sure?
Speaker 4 (10:06):
So here's the top ten highest paid NFL quarterbacks based
on average annual value, which seems to be the big
sticking point with you guys, because I think you all agree.
You know, the tenth most money that Jared Goff makes
is much different than Trevor Lawrence being the highest paid
average Antal here's right, here's the top ten. Patrick Mahomes
is number ten, which Rob you've been on a soapbox
(10:27):
that he is one of the worst contracts, one of
the worst contracts.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
He had the Chiefs showing over a barrel, okay, after
winning a Super Bowl and an MVP at young and
he could have asked and gotten a fully guaranteed contract
when he signed that half a billion dollar contract.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
You know much money was guaranteed on.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
There, like sixty right, like sixty million dollars sixty of
the half a billion. I mean, it was like one
of the worst contracts and he sold himself short. But
that's why he's going to be tenth, and it'll never
be the high.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
So that's number ten. Number nine Kirk Cousins forty five.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Another terrible robb G.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
These are average hoary Er. Number one, yes, okay.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
Number eight Deshaun Watson forty six, Thank.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
You forty six. What is that gotten the Browns? Nothing?
Speaker 6 (11:15):
But you're asking the Dolphins to make the same kind
of commitment.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
Okay, here we go.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Number seven Kyler Murray forty six point one.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Thank you. The too are better than Kyler Murray.
Speaker 6 (11:25):
Kyler Murray showing more than me than two has. So far,
there's been an individual talent.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
And then this is where it takes a big jump.
Number six Jalen Hurts fifty one.
Speaker 7 (11:32):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Number five Lamar Jackson fifty two. Number four Justin Herbert
fifty two point five. Number three Justin Herbert one. I
know everybody loves him. He has a height and the
size and he got a strong arm. But they haven't
won much and he took a step back last year.
Number three Jared Goff fifty three, and then tied for
first Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Trevor laws Hey.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
Rob G, here's the issue you that Rob is missing
the secret thing that you just gave us. So the
top five guys are the top five most recent deals.
So toa's agent is saying, okay, this is the new marketplace. No,
and he's yelling out, but not total money though, But
those are the but those are the five most recent deals.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
But looking for that deal.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
No, but that's not that you're talking about the average salary.
But that's not total money. Jared Golf is ten. It's
about total money. It ain't about average because they put
it on top of whatever he was already.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
It's about guaranteed money.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
But I'm just saying, but.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
Those numbers are inflated. I'm just saying to all the numbers.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
You know.
Speaker 5 (12:41):
Dolphins.
Speaker 6 (12:41):
Yeah, the Dolphins if obviously decided that okay, we're not
playing this.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
Game, that's what it is.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
That's why they wont how many championships in the last
thirty years? How many Okay, keep playing that game.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
Miami dolphis teams that fit that neara.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
I'm just saying.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
But the Dolphins and their history and whatnot, where they
are as a franchise.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
Here's what I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (13:01):
You can't criticize the Deshaun Watson contract and didn't tell
the Dolphins that if they feel like they're about to
venture into the same end of the pool to jump
in anyway, it ain't basically is DeShawn had done more
in the National Football League statistically then Tour had when
he got that deal.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
But he also was coming off of a terrible situation
he had that was going on.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
That was the problem that was off the field it was.
Speaker 6 (13:28):
But still God blessed Tour. I hope he plays for
a decade more. That concussion thing is still an issue.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
If the Browns could redo it, you know, they wouldn't
have shine.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
A whole lot of teams will redo it if they.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Redo it, redo it all right?
Speaker 1 (13:41):
All right, we're gonna talk about the Lions and uh
where you are showing on the line. You got them
going back to the NFC Championship, but game you got
them going to the Super Bowl. All will they disappoint
people coming up will do that. Plus Kurr Healing is
coming up at the bottom of the hour, and you're
trash talking as well. It is the odd couple on
the trash talking Tuesday, Rob Parker along with the King
(14:03):

That's Expresspros dot Com. It is the odd couple, Rob
Parker along with the King. That's right, Sean King, former
NFL quarterback filling in for Chris Brussard, who will be
back Minana h John Lions. I thought Dan Campbell cost
(16:06):
him a trip to the Super Bowl. Then't like the
way he coached, uh that NFC Championship game.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
But where are you on uh the Lions making it
back or getting to the Super Bowl this year?
Speaker 6 (16:18):
I like their chances, you know. I think he's built
the team the right way. They have the pieces in
place to be aggressive. They're talented offensively. The only hindrance
that I see is is Caleb Williams ready in year
one to make Chicago a playoff team, because we know
(16:39):
green Bay got much better as a year winner.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Georgian was much better.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Yeah, Jordan, by the end of this was was really good.
Speaker 6 (16:45):
If Caleb is ready to make Chicago take another step
based on what they did around him Austin Eckler, you know,
drafting a dooms from from Washington. Then now the division
is really tough because even though men doesn't have legitimate
quarterback played, they're still really talented around the quarterback. So
that's probably my only hesitation to be in full throttle.
(17:09):
This is the Lion's year. But I do like what
Campbell's done, and I think they're heading in the right direction.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Yeah, for me, I needed it to show me a year.
The one year they finally for me, I needed them
to win a playoff game. They got to the NFC
Championship game. I thought they should have beat the forty
nine ers. They they had twenty one zero at half
something like that. No, there was they were up by
twenty one, but not zero, but they had them. They
(17:35):
because they took a field goal. You remember, he took
a field goal at the three yard line. And then
that's where I was like, Okay, maybe this guy gets it.
He wanted to get points on the board, you know,
didn't want to come away from there with nothing, and
gave himself a twenty it might have been twenty four
to three or something like that, showing a twenty one
point lead. And then then the second half he's passing
(17:56):
up points and his quarterback is marching him down in
the red zone, but they couldn't score. And then they
turned everything over to the forty nine ers. And my
point is it's one thing where the division was weaker,
it's not and it's no longer a week division. And
then how do they handle success? You know, you never
(18:17):
know what teams like. The last time the Lions went
to the NFC Championship game, it took them these forty
years again to make it back. I'm not saying they're
going to be on that road, but it ain't automatic.
And that's the whole thing on watching teams. How they
handle success. Do they learn from their mistakes? And is
(18:38):
this really a trend?
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Right?
Speaker 1 (18:40):
And they've turned the corner sean or was it a
blip on the screen. And that's where winning and playing
well year after year and putting it together. So I
think they're right defensively, they gave up a lot of
big plays.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
That was the problem.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
I know that they've made changes right in the secondary sean,
but that was one of their week spots.
Speaker 6 (19:00):
They added I think Tarrion Arnold to that second day
like they did some things to improve. But I want
to give you some credit here because you're naturally a
pessimist and you saw a lot of losing in your
Detroit portion of your.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Line covered sports then, and I covered every Lion's game
for TWAYA.
Speaker 6 (19:17):
And when you walk up this morning, you wanted to
come on here and say, you know what, Detroit's not
gonna make the playoffs. I don't believe it, I know,
but you wanted to. So I'm just showing the growth
in you. I'm proud of you. You came on, you
were balanced, you said, I'm not jumping off the bridge
and buying Super Bowl tickets in New Orleans yet. But
I do think that they've done some good things. I'll
(19:37):
say this with Jared Goff and on Mine Saint Brown
getting paid, and you have to I don't think either
one of those two young men are like that. But
sometimes you know, when you get the big bag, you
get a little complacent. That might be the only thing.
But you know, I think they got a taste of
what it's like to be playing at that time of year.
I think they saw the support they got from the
city of Detroit. I mean, Detroit showed up and showed out,
(20:00):
and I think they want to experience it again. So
I'm buying Detroit lionstock. I'm simply saying the NFC North
is as tough as it's been in the last decade.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Yeah, it definitely is tough.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
It used to be where they had no shot at it,
but that's not the case anymore. All Right, we're gonna
get back to basketball with our man, Kurt Healing, he
is from NBC Sports.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Will do that. He joins us next.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search
FSR to listen live.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Thank you, Brian Finley, appreciate it. It is the odd
couple on a trash talking Tuesday. Thats coming up, your
chance to trash anyone anything in the world of sports.
So you can call up right now. Lineup eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. But Before that, we're coming
to you from the tire rack dot com studios. Rob
Parker along with Sean King, the former NFL quarterback, and
(20:57):
Kurt Healing is now joining us here on the couple
from nbcsports dot com. He is the lead NBA writer
and he is in Las Vegas for the Team USA
camp and Kurt say hi to Sean, how are you hey?
Speaker 7 (21:12):
Sean Row?
Speaker 10 (21:14):
Is this where I say that things so much smoother
on the show without Fris Radue? Do I do that?
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Yeah? That's it. Afterwards you say, like Chris Sue.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
I mean, this thing was unbelievably, no doubt, but you
are there, and uh, you know, uh the some of
the players voted was his an athletic poll, and they
said that Lebron James is the best player.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Uh. There, I say that that's a warning sign that.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Father Time is the best player for Team USA.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
It would be good if you were.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
Driving the car and your blinker was on for eight miles.
But is this good that Lebron's the best player?
Speaker 10 (21:50):
I think this suits him and Frankly Durant, who hasn't
played yet because of the cap and furry. In this sense,
what games on a roster this stacked and deep means
what I Hey, Lebron, still give me twenty hard minutes.
Give me twenty full out minutes. That's all I'm going
(22:11):
to ask. And I think you can get that from guys.
So I look, Lebron's IQ, his physicality is understanding of
the game is unquestioned. And if all he's got to
do is give you spurts of energy, which is kind
of how he carried the Lakers last year, that's a
good time. I think I think it can come through.
(22:32):
I just think it speaks though, to Lebron's greatness in
the sense that just like he can walk in the
gym and practice hard, it's still at forty practices harder
than most guys.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
But shouldn't Jason Tatum on one of those guys or
Anthony Edwards be the best player for real?
Speaker 2 (22:50):
I mean he's forty years.
Speaker 10 (22:51):
Old, you would think, by the way, But if you ask,
and multiple guys said this, They were asked like, all right,
so who takes the last shot? And even Anthony I'm
going to go one option. Edwards was like, yeah, I
better be Kevin Durants. If I need one shot to
win a game. I still want Kevin Durant to take it.
There's still just something. And then the select team in
(23:14):
that scrimmage yesterday more than once, with like Lebron and
guys on the floor, we're like, yeah, we're gonna double
Curry like point five meters from the basket, just to
prevent what's next.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
So those old guys still bring something, Kurt you just made.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
And here's my point, this is why that's hard for
me to be convinced that Steph Curry's the greatest shooter
of all time.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
How in the world could you.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
Have that conversation and say, Steph Curry's not the guy
you want to.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Make the la to take the last shot.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
If he's the greatest shooter of all time, he might
be a great three point shooter.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
But I don't look at they don't think he's clutched.
How is he?
Speaker 1 (23:50):
How is Steph Curry's name not the name to take
the last shot?
Speaker 10 (23:55):
I think the difference with Durant is and then and
Curry for that matter, or Frankly Lebron and whoever you're
gonna put in there. If you're talking about the last shot,
you're generally talking about something the guy, unless it's say, hey,
Michael Jordan's creating the shot, and if I have to
pitch it to Steve Kerr, I'm going to pitch it.
You know, Kevin Durant cannot only create that shot, but
(24:18):
dude seven foot and shoots a little over his head
like you're not blocking it, You're not getting in the
way of the shot. And I think that that's why
he becomes so hard to stop in the clutch.
Speaker 11 (24:27):
Is he's going.
Speaker 10 (24:28):
He's not only a one of the all time great
shooters and just bucket getters the league has ever seen.
His shot is unstoppable, and he's good enough to create
space where Curry, I don't her name means, but let's
let's say Kevin Love kind of player could walk him
down at the end of the final game that needed.
Speaker 6 (24:47):
You know, Kurt, can we agree that the world has
closed the gap when it comes to the level of
basketball that's played outside of America. So with that understanding,
I presume there'll be some games that come down last
two minutes in the fourth quarter. Normally who starts is
what matters. But I'm very interested in your opinion. Who
will the five USA members that will be on the
(25:10):
court laid in close games.
Speaker 10 (25:13):
To be fair, I'm going to say that Kerr was
asked about this a little bit and his reaction was, then,
with this roster, I'm going to play it by ear
a little bit and go with the hot hand, which
I think is smart.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Well, I don't want to offend anybody, right.
Speaker 10 (25:27):
Well, there's that too, But I think look, like I said,
if you get to the end of the games, I
think what you're going to see, You're gonna see Joel Embiid.
You need his physicality. He's honestly, he is the key
to this. See the guy we haven't mentioned yet. If
us wins gold, it's because he physically could bang with
Jokic and the gober when byamba front line French Row
(25:50):
offers way more size and physicality and international ball than
there is that we need Embeid. But so Embid's going
to be out there, lebron kd I'll tell you who
else needs to be out there, Kawhi Leonards. He is
still probably the best single defender in this camp. He
is still the guy who for a stretch can absolutely
(26:11):
lock down anybody, right Like, he is just still long
and physical and smart and hard and hard to get around.
So I think you've got to have that guy out
there as well. And then I don't know, I guess
Curry or Booker or whoever shelvers got the hot shooting ants.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
All right, Kurt, what do you make of the narrative
or the conversation that you know Lebron tried to lure
some free agents? No, thank you, we don't want a
part of the circus. We don't want a part of
the soap opera of the as the world turns Lebron
and his son and his podcast partner.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
What do you make of that?
Speaker 10 (26:50):
I don't think that that was necessarily I think Klay
Thompson was different in the sense that what look, Klay
Thompson could turn it down more money. I know that
the Lakers offered him. I was told four years eighty million.
I got people who have reported that, and he took
three years fifty You know again, I feel like I
(27:11):
need to do this with air quotes, like he only
took three years fifty million dollars, right.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
But it's still but it's still thirty million dollars less
than what he was offered, not to play with Lebron
and a year less.
Speaker 10 (27:20):
Of security because he wanted to change the narrative going
to his father's team on the West coast playing with
Lebron doesn't change the narrative the same way that going
to Dallas doesn't. And I think Kyrie Irving convinced him like, look, man,
I've changed my narrative here. I think you can do it.
So but I do think that there is something too.
(27:44):
If you've got options, is that where you want to be.
If you've got options, is that is the Lakers with
Lebron and Ad truly a contender. There are certainly perks
and advantages to playing in southern California. There are you know,
like there's a massive fan base and it comes with
some opportunities, but it's not necessarily for everybody. And if
(28:07):
the money is the same, you might not want the hassle,
you might not want to, you know, but you might
see the opportunity to win somewhere else. And I think
that that's kind of what they've run into, is that
they're not this isn't the I don't want to take
people don't want to play with the Lakers, play with
Lebron and for the Lakers, because I don't think that's true.
But I don't think they're this standout. Oh my gosh,
(28:28):
that's the only place I want to be kind of teams.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Yeah, I think they don't want to play for the Lakers.
I mean, his dad played here. I just that's a
lot of money to turn down, and it really is.
And to go to Dallas, you know, where Luca is
the main cog you know there whatever, And I'm not
saying that Clay would have been the main cog here,
(28:53):
but it just seemed weird to me that Lebron made
a call and he was rebuffed, you know.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
And that's the question.
Speaker 10 (29:00):
It does speak to where I just think it speaks
to where the Lakers are as an organization right now,
where everybody sees Lebron retiring in two years and then
they go and then.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
What Yeah, real quick, we got about a minute ago
Bronnie in his debut debut.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Where are you on on that? As far as were
you surprised at what you saw?
Speaker 5 (29:21):
On now?
Speaker 10 (29:23):
Now it looks like a raw rookie. You need to
spend a lot of time in the G League this year,
which is what he is. I mean, he had some moments,
but he's still of nine. And I think the thing
that matters in summer league with him is not Game one,
but I think he's playing tonight. I'm not sure. I
think he's playing in the one more game with them,
and then he goes into Vegas and he plays a couple.
(29:43):
Is he better at the end of it than he
was at the start of it? Is he's showing some
signs of development. If that's for the next frankly two years,
that's where it is, like he's just got to get better.
He's not there, all.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Right, Kurt Healing.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
We appreciate you from NBC Sports dot commy the lead NBA.

Speaker 14 (31:42):
You want to talk about guys eating to play around?
Speaker 13 (31:44):
You just know your role on this team.
Speaker 14 (31:46):
You were picking up Jamal Murray ninety four feet in
that Denver series.
Speaker 9 (31:50):
Do the same thing here.
Speaker 14 (31:51):
Whether you're coming off the bench or you're starting. In
these games, pick up the guy ninety four feet, the
point guard up the floor.
Speaker 7 (31:59):
A team of America.
Speaker 14 (32:00):
I was born here, I was raised here. I love
it here. They better not lose this year. They better
not lose in the Olympics. I don't think they will.
For Anthony Edwards, don't look for your shot.
Speaker 13 (32:10):
Just play defense.
Speaker 14 (32:11):
You're the third best defender on this team after Kawhi
and Drew Holliday.
Speaker 13 (32:15):
Know your role.
Speaker 14 (32:16):
Play defense, shut them down and bring home the goals.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
All right, there we go.
Speaker 6 (32:23):
On Fox Carl and Mobile. You're up next on the
yard Couple. What you got on trush talking Tuesday?
Speaker 7 (32:29):
Hey, I got a trash. Whoever agreed to vote on
that or whoever I did, was to vote on who's
the best player before anybody played any basketball. When I
grew up, if somebody walked on the court and did
that at the YMCA, you either get laughed off the
court or beat and dragged into the parking lot. You
you never you Your play is supposed to determine who's
(32:51):
the best player. You don't take a vote before anybody
plays any basketball. That's crazy and I quickly want to
say Charles Barkley his first year with the Philadelvers seventy
six ers, in the locker room, after they had lost
about five or four or five straight games and they
were just down. He they had a meeting and he
said in the meeting, I think you guys need to
run the offense through me. Now, at the time, he
(33:12):
was a rookie.
Speaker 9 (33:13):
He was overweight.
Speaker 7 (33:14):
But who was on the team, Doctor j and Moses
Malone and they were washed and he was right. The
youngest players are sometimes the best players. That they got
the most juice, and you got to run through the
most athletic guys. The guys are the most talented. At
the time he said it, they thought he was crazy.
But a year later the Sixers were where they were
nowhere had another championship, no doubt.
Speaker 6 (33:36):
It's just talking Tuesday here on the odd couple. Your
boy Rob Parker, Sean king fulm in for Cris Busa,
Fernando in Vegas. You're on the odd couple. What you got?
Speaker 11 (33:46):
I'm trashing Mark Willard always saying yes to Ethan Salam
Yes right, Ephram. We all know Ephram is six eight,
five hundred and wears a size eighteen shoe sas eighteen shoe.
But come on, Mark, agree no, disagree? This grew sometimes
don't agree all the time?
Speaker 2 (34:06):
Green night Ice, My man, Wow, try Rock Willard?
Speaker 6 (34:09):
Why have a player where you can have the coats
all the way from NASA Vegas on tresh talking Tuesday,
You're on the odd couple?
Speaker 5 (34:16):
What you got, Jo?
Speaker 13 (34:17):
Man? What I got is I'm so done with all
the haters of the Lakers. But I actually like it
because you got haters of the Lakers of what the
Cleveland Cavaliers now, Nope, the Sacramento Kings. Now what I mean?
You got the best franchise in the history of the NBA,
that is the Los Angeles Lakers, and we got the
(34:40):
haters and I love it. I love it because who
you following out there? The Sacramento Kings. What Oklahoma City?
Are you? Kidney? You've got the greatest franchise. The Lakers
are the NBA that like in the NFL, you got
the cowboys who everybody hates. That's who the Lakers are.
And guess what, but the Lakers are here to stay
(35:02):
and they're gonna show it every day and every season,
all the time, and when Lebron's at the helm right now.
You still better look out. You better look out Denver,
because how did it work out? How did it work
out against Boston?
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Thanks Genie Boss.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
I thought her voice was different, like you just chess
out roll defend this squad?
Speaker 6 (35:25):
Mitch in New Jersey on the Odd Couple, What you
got than you?
Speaker 13 (35:31):
Guys?
Speaker 12 (35:32):
I want to try to show the media, the Lakers
fans and the Cowboy fans. I think I think that
clip is better, and that was originally throw when they
lost Paul George. I like to think I'm giving Kevin
Porter Junior another shot. I think he keeps life round.
I think you have a better quit than Brunnie.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
All right, thanks, match appreciated eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox. If you want to jump in on this
trash talking Tuesday here on the od Man.
Speaker 6 (36:01):
This guy always gets getting mixed up in Starbucks, Sean
is Sacramento Couple?
Speaker 5 (36:06):
What do you got?
Speaker 9 (36:08):
Yeoh? My uncle from another mother and the Real King Movement?
My man, Sean King, Look, I want to trash that
last caller for running his mouth.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Sean, where's the brothers behind the board?
Speaker 2 (36:21):
What had you trash? Shawn from Sacramento. All of a sudden,
we got king up in the studio. Now the brothers
on the board don't even matter.
Speaker 9 (36:27):
Wow, I apologize Alex. I wasn't sure if he was
moonlighting here doing the main job with my man with
the hurry, But my brother's behind the board. There you go,
Alex man getting fit, getting tight in this summer, but
real quick, man. I wish I could bass that last
caller Lakers fanning out even though the Kings own his
as ads. But I'm gonna take it to these other
(36:47):
dudes that have no business come to Sacramento. Gilbert full
Clipper Renus and Brandon Buss Jennys. How dare y'all get
in a podcast with one of the talking bad about
Sacramento talking about we got the ugliest people talking about
we word city to play for? Gilbert, isn't your baby
mama from Sacramento? If I'm not mistaken, Brock so either
your eyes are broken? Are we a lot better looking
(37:08):
than you?
Speaker 13 (37:08):
Talking about?
Speaker 9 (37:09):
And Brandon Jennings, you don't like playing for a small city.
You was playing for guang Zuo, China after your entire
career went up and play How dare you disrespect Sacramento.
The truth of the matter is both of y'all ain't
got nothing to say when real OG's come at you.
Just like when Chris and Rob had Gilbert on the
show and he had none of that.
Speaker 15 (37:26):
I missed to talk no more.
Speaker 9 (37:27):
Today's faces, Diddy, go ahead and keep.
Speaker 15 (37:30):
Running your mouth for cloud.
Speaker 9 (37:31):
That's all y'all got left after both of y'all knees
and ankles had nothing.
Speaker 15 (37:34):
Left through the NBA.
Speaker 6 (37:36):
Take that for data, Wow, Kings says, telling the Lake
A crew to drop down and give me fifty Rosada
San Antonio.
Speaker 5 (37:44):
Welcome to the Odd Couple. What's your guy?
Speaker 15 (37:47):
Hey, how y'all doing? Man? Hey, I love y'all show.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Thank you.
Speaker 15 (37:51):
I want shout for Alex. I want to shout out
to you, Rob g I know he ain't Christ and
my god, Rob Clarker, Man, I love listening to you.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
Thank man. I appreciate life long.
Speaker 15 (38:02):
I'm a lifelong Dallas cowboy thing, and I am trashing
them because I'm sick of Jared Jones. I'm sick of
his family. They're running us in the ground with a
historical franchise and we look like nothing. We look like
we have no idea. He looked like the Los Angeles Lakers.
Right now, I've met Lebron James run the franchise, and
I'm sick of it. I'm trashing Derrick Jones, Stephen Jones,
(38:25):
I'm trashing me and Todd Jones.
Speaker 5 (38:27):
Family, Lakers catching strays from that and they should.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
I mean, it's been bad, you know that. I'm not
mad at them all right.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Coming up our number three to the final hour of
the program, Bronnie and Tim Tebow?
Speaker 2 (38:40):
Do they go together? Is that the same thing? Bronnie
Tim Tebow? Stick and stay, especially Laker fans,
