Speaker 3 (01:31):
It was nice, man, it was real nice, real nice,
nice and relaxing.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
That's what you want, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
You know I appreciate relaxation as you get older, you
really do.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
I'm doing serious like and you know men, you know,
go ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
So I'm just saying, you know, I'd like to go
and do stuff, but it's cool to kickback and just
have like nothing on the agenda.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Yeah, that's one of the things that gets better when
you get older. Relaxing. Walking, I mean really like walks.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
White after dinner and stuff.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Well I can't because of our show.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Oh that's right, but we will, like we when we can,
we'll get out and walk.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Yeah, because it's like you said, you just enjoy it now.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
But we we we got a lot of young people
listening to us, so we won't board him with you exactly.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
Don't run off the listeners, all right, all right?
Speaker 3 (02:27):

house leading the Eye Couple cruise. Surprise surprise DJ Alex
tight Shirt, who I'm told has been here all week
so far on the Ones and twos on the Update
our man the Loquations may Fly, who I will be
(02:47):
seen next week taking him out to breakfast.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
I don't believe, man, this meeting is not going to happen.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
I just know it's not.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
It will happen.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
Ryan.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
At the last minute, Cryst will say he has to
wash his hair or something.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
You can't make it, you know, man, you know what's up.
I just saw he need let me know that we
had something to do. You know, Nah, Me and be
Fit gonna be kicking it.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
He's got to pick up dry cleaning and he can't
hang out with me forfast.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Even though you flew across country like something small, fly
across country to see me.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
But I'm gonna tell you, can I tell you I
am going.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
To take him out.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
I'm gonna pay unlike Rod Parker would do, and I'm
going to he's.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Gonna come watch our show live. Right, Wow?
Speaker 5 (03:36):
Very nice?
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Well, real quick, I want to say this real quick.
So you're just saying about, you know, coming up with
an excuse or whatever flying cross country. So Chris, just
give me a little bit of advice here. Do you
think I overreacted? Okay, So I was supposed to meet
a woman in New York and we have been conversing
(03:58):
someone that set us up and thought we so you.
Speaker 6 (04:00):
Didn't know her.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
It's not from the past or anything. It's just a
new person or whatever.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
But you've never seen her in person.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yeah, yeah, not in person, but you know pictures and
we talked and we had a great conversation all that.
She was really excited about me coming to New York.
Get to New York where we have a plan to
go out to breakfast and.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Oh, so did you go to New York?
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Okay, yeah, so I came and everything and the night
before were supposed to me. She hits me up and
she says, hey, you know, I gotta do something with
the job. It was volunteer that she decided to do
last minute. Oh and so she.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Says, he but you flew to New York specifically to
see her.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
No, I was gonna be there. I was gonna be there.
But but you know, this is our chance. We live
in two different states, cross country, so here's a chance
to meet in person. The long story short is she
at the last minute says she decided to do something volunteer.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
It wasn't like she had to work or whatever or
something she.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Was doing, and she was like, I just don't think
I'm gonna be able to get up in the morning
to make breakfast?
Speaker 5 (05:01):
Can we make other plans?
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Wait, so you were gonna meet for bar, oh for breakfast,
not Friday night. You're gonna be for breakfast, and she
was gonna make oh to go out with you for breakfast.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
She couldn't make it, and she can't she canceled because
she had picked up something Friday night voluntarily.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Well, so, well, Saturday night was out of the picture.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
I think if she had suggested, Hey, but I can't
do anything. I gotta go to this thing Saturday morning.
I really want to do it, But can we do
something tonight? And then if you're like no, She's like, okay,
let me then we'll meet for breakfast.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (05:39):
Like I prefer to do dinner. But but she didn't even.
Speaker 6 (05:42):
Give you that.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Our long story short, we did not meet in person
and we have not talked since.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
I'm the story. Well, first of all, was she thirty?
Was she older than thirty?
Speaker 2 (05:54):
No?
Speaker 5 (05:54):
She was older.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
So you saying, what do I think happened?
Speaker 5 (06:00):
Do you think I was? Do you think I was?
Speaker 7 (06:02):
I was?
Speaker 4 (06:03):
You were somewhat?
Speaker 5 (06:04):
Oh? What that that I was?
Speaker 1 (06:06):
That I couldn't bend to change the schedule because I'm
coming to l A. I have a lot of people family,
you know what I mean, Chris, I don't. It's not
like I'm sitting around doing nothing. But I think it's
more on her. Okay, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
I do think if you really liked her and were
like this really actually could be pretty good, then I
came all the way from LA.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
Wouldn't you make time.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
For the on her?
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Because first of all, like you said, it wasn't like
my boss called me in, I gotta I gotta work
like I don't have a choice.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
It was it was voluntary.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
It was on her.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
So were you like, well, I flew cross country. I mean,
if you don't have to do it, why don't we
just meet?
Speaker 5 (06:46):
No?
Speaker 1 (06:47):
But because she made the decision without actually talking to
me about, you know what, like whether or not I
had other plans or whatever, I just let it go.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
I can't blame you for that, Okay, I can't. Yeah,
I think she was in. Did you ask other people
to agree?
Speaker 5 (07:00):
They agree?
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Nobody thought I was mean because they said, you from
LA and she makes she change the plans?
Speaker 4 (07:07):
She changed?
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (07:09):
All right, Dulos, Yeah, all right, Well we're gonna we
got Eddie House coming around at the end of the
hour or at the bottom of the hour, I should say,
we will get in to Rob the snub. I gotta
be honest, it's a snub. You you got a real
strong opinion on it. But I can't be mad at
it because what's going on that's next. It's the Okable
(07:31):
Chris the Rob Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (07:53):

Speaker 8 (07:56):
Hey, listen to this. Dear Paulie and Tony, your sports

Speaker 8 (08:04):

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Show on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever
you get your podcast.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
All right, it's the Eye Couple live from thee tirerack
dot Com studios and Rob let's get right into this
today and we'll get to him later. But Kawhi Leonard,
the Clippers and Team USA decide is not in their
best interest or Kawhi is to have him playing this summer,
(08:47):
so he will not be on Team USA. They promptly
named Derek White the role player, very good role player,
All League defender type player.
Speaker 5 (08:59):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
They him to the team, and Jalen Brown the Celtics
star uh, their second best player, but was the MVP
of the conference finals, MVP of the finals in their
first championship in sixteen years. And he releases an emoji. Now,
robb G, what what type of emoji is? It's called
you know, I'm not up on some I just call
(09:20):
it the side eye, Okay, the side which which means, uh,
you're puzzled or even bothered by something.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Is that correct? That is correct?
Speaker 3 (09:30):
And then he did another tweet a couple of minutes
after that, directly at Nike.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
So you wouldn't see it unless you click on the replies.
He added Nike saying, Yo, this is what we're doing.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Question Mark all right, Rob Jalen Brown not on the team.
His teammate Derek White on the team.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
Your thoughts, Uh.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
It is the ultimate disrespect. And they didn't slap him.
They pimp slapped him.
Speaker 5 (09:55):
That's what they did. It was a pimp slap.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Oh stop it.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
I mean, like, isn't he more like Kawhi? Why wasn't
he replacing Kawhi Leonard uh and And this is no
disrespect to Derek White.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
All they want him to do the dirty work and
all this stuff.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Well, he would have been on the team from Jump
Street then because because that's not what Kawhi would have
been doing. Wanted to dream, you know what I mean,
Chris that That's why I don't buy into that, because
Kawhi wasn't doing any dirty work, so you replaced.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
It would be different if.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
You had a Derek White kind of dirty work player
on the team. Yeah, and then you were replacing that guy.
I would buy that. It's a it's a it's a
disrespect for a guy who just won the finals MVP
and has played really it's an honor. I mean for
a lot of guys to represent your country. And I
can understand why they wanted to give Kawhi a chance. Chris,
(10:49):
he had never done it, and he, you know, before
his injury, was playing well. So I do get all
why he was picked, because it's still an honor even
if you bow out. I was picked for the team,
you know what I mean, It's an honor, but this
is total.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
Disrespect to Brown.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
I just don't understand the thinking here by the Team USA.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
You know, look, first of all, let me say this,
Derek White. I do understand why they picked Derek White.
Speaker 6 (11:18):
Rob.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
I think they're thinking, and you make a great point.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
I think it's right that Kawhi wasn't a role player.
Kawhi wasn't a dirty work guy, so don't you know
you didn't have to replace him with a role player.
But I do think that their thought process was we
only Drew's really our only role player, Drew Holliday. Let's
(11:45):
get a guy that you know is quote unquote blue guy.
We know he's a great defender, he wants to defend.
He can hit the three point shot. Now, he was
a better three point shooter this year than Jalen. But
their career averages are the same from three point lands.
But I think that was their thinking, Row, Let's get
(12:06):
a guy that doesn't need the ball, that's not used
to being a star, and so he won't be any problem.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
But I just.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Think I agree with you in that, just out of
respect for Jalen Brown, who again was the Finals MVP.
Now you've got three Celtics on their ROB and none
of them is named Jalen Brown.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
That makes that That's what I'm talking about, Chris, like
like something's wrong here, Like like that doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
It would be one thing.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
If you got the how in the world has three
Celtics and he's.
Speaker 5 (12:42):
Not one of them?
Speaker 4 (12:43):
Right?
Speaker 3 (12:43):
I mean, it doesn't he And the thing is he
does it's not. First of all, he's a very good defender.
He might not be Derek White, but I think he
could be Derek White when he doesn't have to carry
the load of scoring twenty five points a night. So
I think there's that Remember Kobe and Kobe. Obviously he
was a great defender period, but when he got with
(13:03):
the Redeemed Team ROB, he was like, I'm just gonna
deep Lebron and d Wade and those guys can score,
and then when he needed to in the gold medal
game against Spain he did, But for the most part,
he was like, I'm just gonna lock people up.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Jalen could do that. Jalen's a good three point shooter.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Jalen obviously is a better all around player than Derek White.
So I'm a bit shocked. I mean, again, I get
why Derek White was added. We talked about the role
players and you need some guys that aren't stars. But
Jalen can do those things, and I think he would
(13:41):
have willingly do those things. So I'm surprised Rob now
and I don't think this was a factor. But Jalen
is a very outspoken guy. Jalen is a very thoughtful,
deep thinker. Is it possible that they wonder on the
on this world stage, would he bring up something political
(14:06):
or anything like that. I'm just I don't think that's
the case, But knowing that he is a type of
guy that you know is very conscientious and all that,
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Maybe here it is, you know, the speculation that this
was Nike's decision and McCall Chris in twenty twenty, as
you're talking about Brown, right, tweeted out, Uh, since when
did Nike care about ethics in a response to their
statement to Kyrie Irving.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
So there, I didn't even I didn't even see that.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
There it is and and so so there's your answer
that Nike has a help a handle on his team,
whether people want to believe it or not. And uh,
and that is probably why, Jalen Brown, that's the only
reason that you could come up with, Chris, other than
Nike said, well, remember what you said, uh, a couple
(14:59):
of years ago, and now when we have the ball
is in our court, will take care of you.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yeah, that's uh, that that's bizarre that, like you said,
that makes sense.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
I didn't know that was it when I said that.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
But yeah, that's unfortunate because you know, hey, don't don't
poke the bear.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
I'm just telling you.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
And now politics is always somewhere lurking right.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Everywhere every but everywhere, Chris, even in the church. You
know that everywhere where there are people involved politics.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
No, it's it's unfortunate because.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
I, like I said, Jalen Man, I mean, we got
robbed twelve guys on the team right then you have
how many other top NBA players aren't eligible what six
seven eight, So you're gonna tell me there's twenty guys,
twenty twenty of the top players in the league are
(15:59):
playing in the Olympics and he's not one of them.
Like that that that it's it's unfortunate. I agree with you.
I think it's a snub. Let's start out to the listeners.
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, we got time
for a few calls eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine.
Speaker 5 (16:20):
What do you think?
Speaker 6 (16:21):
Rob?
Speaker 4 (16:21):
And I think Jalen Brown was snubbed. What are your thoughts?
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox You got a
chance to weigh in?
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Uh, but yeah, Rob, I think that's definitely it just
it just.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Feels, Chris, like that makes sense because because the other
way doesn't make sense if it's just off of basketball
plate replacing Kawhi he won the finals, MVP, like all
those other things that you would think would be an automatic, right.
And Derek White, no disrespect, and he's a really good player, Chris,
and a great role player what he does. But come on,
(16:56):
this is like supposedly the best team in the world.
You have a we're supposed to we were placing Kawhi
Leonard with a role player.
Speaker 5 (17:04):
Right, it doesn't make sense this.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Team, Rob.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
I mean when we think of the special Olympic teams,
right since the pros started playing, you got the Dream
Team in ninety two, You've got the redeem Team in
two thousand and eight, and I actually think this is
a sort of a redeemed team even though we've won, right,
we've won like the last four Olympics, we won seven
(17:29):
of the last eight since we've been sending our pros.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
But Rob, we all saw last summer our fever.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Team with a lot of young stars didn't even meddle
in the Feeble World Cup. And so this year it
was like, yo, we send in the big boys, you
know what I mean? Like this is kind of like
a second redeemed team. And to not have Jalen on it,
I don't agree with it.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Chris, we got a couple people want to chime in,
Larry and Houston. You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
What's up? Larry?
Speaker 9 (17:56):
Hey, Hey you guys doing love this show.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Thank you buddy, Thank you, Chris.
Speaker 10 (18:01):
Welcome back.
Speaker 9 (18:01):
I'm sure you got another vacation next week or probably
the week after pretty soon. Oh, I know, I know,
I'm always saying for the villain.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Well, you know who's always here, Larry, Right, Okay, Like, yeah, please,
he was just a last weeks.
Speaker 11 (18:19):
Still my favorite, Joe. Who would go?
Speaker 9 (18:21):
Who would you put in front of Dylan Brunt? I'm sorry,
he should have been in front of Derek White, that's
one hundred percent, thren, who would who would you put
in front of him?
Speaker 10 (18:32):
Though?
Speaker 9 (18:32):
In front of Jaylen Brown?
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Well, I don't think it would have been as much
of a snub if you had put Jalen Brunton on
the team.
Speaker 9 (18:40):
Well, yeah, I think I think that Brunton should have
been nobody.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
You know what I mean, Like, I don't even think
I don't know that Jaylen Brown would have reacted the
way he did. I mean, I'm sure he's better than
Jaylen Brown. Not a role player, right, j is a
legitimate star. And you're like, Okay, I get it, mate,
you know, like Derek White is your not number one,
he's a role player number two.
Speaker 9 (19:02):
He's your own teammate, right, Yeah, I think that that's
the hardest part for Jaylen Brown to swallow. That is
his own teammate. I don't I can't think of anybody
else though, who would be there outside Jalen Brunther, Like
maybe you put Zion for like that factor of like
the Dunks and that, but.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
Even what about Donovan Mitchell? What about Donovan Mitchell?
Speaker 9 (19:21):
Yeah, he's another one. I mean there, it's so hard
for Jalen because it's his teammate. He's ten times better
than them, right, But did you say that Nike he
chose him.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Well, I'm just saying to have evaculation and that's what
he thinks, that they that he had, that he has influenced.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
All right, thanks for that.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
But I agree with him Rob, like he look, you
hope this doesn't cause a riff with the team, the Celtics,
But I do think it being your own teammate, Rob
makes it even harder. And I'm not saying that's I
think that's human nature, no doubt. We've all been on
teams and you still want to you know, you know,
you're the better player, You're the star.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
You should get to love you and Arizona, let's squeeze
you in. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
What's up, cute?
Speaker 11 (20:08):
Hey, what's happening? Fellas? Uh love show?
Speaker 5 (20:11):
Thank you? Man.
Speaker 11 (20:13):
Yeah, for sure. I think I'm an old school basketball
fan because I think about the Bulls. Everybody on their
team were role players, like Dennis Rodman. Dennis Roman ain't
out there trying to score ten to fifteen points. His
main objective is to get the ball, protect the ram,
(20:36):
play defense. So I understand the fact that Brown is
better than him, but you gotta have role players.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
And what did they pick Q?
Speaker 6 (20:46):
Though?
Speaker 1 (20:46):
But why did they pick Kawhi Din? I mean, like,
I get that what you're saying. If you told me
that Derek White was on the team from Jump Street
or there was.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
A player of that ilk and they were gas to them, right.
Speaker 11 (20:59):
Yeah, But I'm I was coolless about that too. I'm like,
why why you got too many scores? You need somebody
to play defense.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
But see, don't you think Jayalen Brown could do that?
I mean, nobody cares about stats in the Olympics. It's
just it's purely about right. I don't think care if
Lebron averages eight points and and seven eight assists during
these these playoffs rop these Olympics.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
Nobody's gonna be like, man, Lebron only average eight.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
It's just about winning and That's why right would would.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
Go ahead and play that role if he had to.
That's the thing.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
He's a star who actually could play that role. Donovan Mitchell,
Jalen Brunson. They they aren't like stars that could play
that defensive role.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
He could, so all right, Eddie Houses around the corner.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
He ass theme music, NBA champion, NBC Sports Boston analysts,
Fox Sports NBA analysts, and an Emmy Award winner, Our mayor,
Eddie House.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
What up the house?
Speaker 10 (22:22):
Man? I love the intro. Man, I'm ready to go
hoop right now? Man? Man?
Speaker 5 (22:29):
How much did that?
Speaker 10 (22:33):
What's that?
Speaker 5 (22:34):
How much did that Emmy cost? That's all I want
to know?
Speaker 10 (22:36):
How much they cost? Thanks? A lot of hard work, hey,
lot a lot of hard work? How about that?
Speaker 8 (22:43):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Speaking of hardware, I mean you know the Celtics as
well as anybody. And Jalen Brown, it appears, is clearly
upset by Derek Whitey. Rob and I both think it's
a snub. I get Eddie, the role players stuff, Derek White.
Maybe they needed they wanted a role player, but Kawhi
wasn't a role player. And I think Jalen could have
(23:06):
done those things in this, you know, in this circumstance
where it's like they don't need me to score twenty five,
let me.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Go and d up or do whatever.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
So where are you at on it? You agree with
us that it's a snub.
Speaker 10 (23:19):
Well, yeah, if I think it's a snub, if he
didn't get a call, I'm not sure because I you know,
I follow him on social media and I'm not sure.
I don't talk to him on a regular basis or
anything like that. So I did see that he just
posted that he was you know abroad, you know, with
the with the faith and religion, and you know he
(23:41):
was over there. I want to say it was in Mecca. Yeah,
it looked like he was in Mecca. So if that's
the case, they called him and he already had something
previously planned and he was already out there.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
But he's post but he post, like.
Speaker 10 (23:59):
You did he say anything? He just posted those glasses, right,
So he did something else?
Speaker 5 (24:06):
What was it?
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Roger Nike? This is how we're doing it or something.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Like that, Like he definitely didn't sound like, Hey, if
you're on vacation, you have other plans, why would you
even comment call me? Your comment would probably be congratulations
to my to achievement.
Speaker 10 (24:22):
I think he congratulate everybody that. I think he gratulated
d White on the under Besides that, if they did
not reach out to him and they just said, hey,
we're not gonna even run it by him, then yeah,
he should be upset at that. But if they run
it by him and he's like, you know what, I'm cool.
I don't know the situation, so I can't really respect it.
(24:42):
I'm not gonna speculate, but what I do know is
if they did not run it by him, that is
a snub. That's not only the snub off of the
USA team, that's the snub off the All NBA team.
And then that's also the other snub off of the
All NBA Defensive team. And so that's three times he
would have go snubbed this year, and it would have
to be the first time in the history of the
(25:05):
game where somebody was Eastern Conference MVP, which they didn't
have back in the day, but and Finals MVP and
you don't get an invite, you don't get a phone
call to go to. That would be to me that
that why wouldn't who wouldn't be upset at that?
Speaker 5 (25:20):
Though?
Speaker 4 (25:21):
Right, I agree he should be upset.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
No, no, no doubt about it.
Speaker 5 (25:28):
It is very strange.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Uh, Lebron James, but was voted as the best player
on the team?
Speaker 5 (25:34):
Is is that accurate?
Speaker 10 (25:37):
So won't We're just going by what he had done
and what he has still proving.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
Is he the best player?
Speaker 3 (25:46):
But I think that vote Rob correct me if I'm wrong,
But was who's been the best player in the week
of practice that they had or whatever? And they said
it was Lebron?
Speaker 10 (25:57):
Okay that that? I mean, I want to know who's
vote on that?
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Who voted it was the player? Was it the it?
It was the players?
Speaker 5 (26:04):
Yeah? I think it was the players.
Speaker 10 (26:05):
I was just we got to believe that though. If
the players are there and saying, man, he was the
best player I've seen in this week, well what he does,
then I got to believe that. I don't think that
they're just giving something to Lebron, Like, hey, Lebron, Jay,
everybody handed a cheet of paper and everybody just checked
Lebron James. I don't think that that will happen unless
they really believe that.
Speaker 5 (26:24):
Is that scary though?
Speaker 1 (26:25):
When you have other players like Edwards said he's the
number one he's he's the number one option and you
got Tatum there, shouldn't those guys be the best guys?
Speaker 9 (26:35):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Younger guys, guys who were you know, doing a lot
as far as winning and all that kind of stuff.
Why isn't it one of the younger guys being the
leader of the pack or the best guy that they've
seen out there so far instead of a forty year old.
Speaker 10 (26:50):
Because Lebron James is one of the best players to
ever played this game. All the younger guys that you're
talking about are still trying to solidify himself.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
But it's not a lot of time achievement award. Get
that that we can't put their careers next to each other.
I get I'm talking about going into the team USA
the first week. The young guys aren't better than Lebron.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
To make a headline, Come on, Eddie, what are you doing?
Speaker 10 (27:17):
No listen because I gotta listen to the players. If
the players are saying that, you gotta believe it. Of
course every we just heard after Edwards say you think
he voted, he must have had voted for Lebron too,
or did he vote for himself?
Speaker 4 (27:28):
Five players of the fifteen voted for Lebron.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
So so, Eddie, here you are.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
You say you got to listen to the players and
then a bunch of guys got to vote.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
Eddie, let me push back on you. Okay, you said
you gotta listen to the players.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
A couple of years ago, when the NBA allowed players
to vote for the All Star Game for the first time,
one hundred and thirty players did not vote for Lebron
James at all. Should we listen to the players then, too?
Speaker 6 (27:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (27:52):
We uh yeah, we should have listened to the players.
Then they didn't they because votes. Yeah you know what,
but more players voted for Lebron than didn't vote for Lott.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
But how do you it's an exhibition? How did one
hundred and thirty players not vote for Lebron?
Speaker 10 (28:07):
Come on, I have no idea, just like you don't
understand why they're only five voted for him.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Now, let me ask you this, Eddie Cooper flag, I
watched the highlights.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
I don't know if you saw, you know, when he
played against Team of USA.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
So, and I know you're into the AAU, so you've
probably seen him, you've seen a good amount of him. Correct, yes,
So what do you what do you think of him?
And what do you think, Like he's projected to be
the number one pick next year in the draft, what
do you think of his prospects?
Speaker 10 (28:39):
Like if he stays healthy and nothing and you know,
God forbid anything happens to him during next season, he
will be the number of number one pick. If I mean,
he's a future star. I think he has the ability
to be a future star if he continues to extent,
if he continues to work on his game, because where
he's at right now, seventeen, what he can do right
(29:01):
now at that age, with that and that size. Even
the clips you've seen, I don't know if you've seen
the one clip we know where he caught the ball
and Drew Holliday on the block and he faked baseline.
He faked baseline over the right shoulder, look back over
the left shoulder, that's where Drew was at. Then he
went right to the fade away. Like that's to me,
(29:22):
that's a game awareness that a lot of players at seventeen,
wouldn't even recognize like, oh, oh, I got him base on.
I'm gonna give him a little bit to the left,
make him hop over there. But then I'm gonna create
more space for myself to go over the right shoulder,
fade away right. So I see that, I see like
small little things. And then also it's just a mentality.
One thing about Cooper Flag that I've seen throughout these years,
(29:42):
and I'll tell you this, Brian Scalabrini is the first
person to put me on him. He said, his kid
Cooper Flag. He said, I work out with the kid
Cooper Flags. He was a few years back. He's like, man,
he's one of them ones. I'm like, okay, well let
me see. I started watching and I could see he
was not afraid of no moments. He's not year of
the moment. He was. He wasn't a guy that was
(30:06):
you know, it can get intimidated by whatever atmosphere or
whatever Jimmy's in. He come into work, he gonna put
in that work and actually let you know that he
put in that work. And so I've seen that. I
was like, oh, he's a little different out here. You know.
He talked that talk and he walked, and he back
it up with his game.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Yeah, I mean, like you said, I mean to It's
not even that he just got out there with NBA players.
He got out there with the best pretty probably a
team full of Hall of famers, and he, you know,
was able to not be intimidated. So I'm with you
on that last thing. Zach Edy fourteen points, fifteen boards
(30:47):
in his summer league debut. I get it in summer league,
but now he's all of a sudden the leader of
the pack.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
As far as odds for Rookie of the year, do.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
You think in today's NBA, But there's a significant place room.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
I mean, I'm sure he'll have a relatively.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Long career, but I mean like an impact player. Maybe
not a star, but can he be like an impact player.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
In this league?
Speaker 10 (31:14):
Well, with his size, I would have to say yes,
you know, I would say that he could be an
impact player being a rent protector and being a rebounder.
He can impact the game that way. Now, when you
start talking about his offensive game and how does that developed,
we'll see and how does that evolve? We still got
to see. We know we have not seen him stretch
out and be a three point knockdown shooter to stretch
(31:36):
the floor like most of the fives are. Now, we
haven't really seen him have to guard guys. If he
had to switch out on him and get caught on
that island and it's a three a wing guy that
six ' eight that can handle the ball and go
to work. What could he do with a Jason Tatum
if he has to switch to him or Jalen Brown?
Is he going to be able to keep them in
front of them? Or even if they run a pick
and roll and not being a drop coverage, is he
(31:56):
going to be able to keep them in front until
the defender gets back. That remains to be seen. But
I think he can impact the game rebounding and uh
blocking shots, being a rim protector more so, a help
run protector more so than on the ball renprotector.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
All right, that's our man, Eddie House. We appreciate you,
Bruh bankes Man.
Speaker 10 (32:17):
You guys take care.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Yeap, Dion Sanders huh hot water. Maybe we'll talk about
it next a couple. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (33:02):
Two. Shekel City the whole base for Ron Parkers, Dalley
Dicks against the scrap.
Speaker 5 (33:13):
All right, here we go a little Shekel City.
Speaker 6 (33:15):
Best bet.
Speaker 5 (33:16):
Let's start with the best bet.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
I'm gonna take Milwaukee minus one and a half runs
Chris hosting the Pirates.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
In Milwaukee, so that's my best bet.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Then I'm gonna take the Angels hosting the Rangers plus
one and a half runs at home Angels there, and.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
The last one, last.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
But not least here on this Wednesday night, I'm going
to take the San Francisco Giants minus one and a
half at home taking on the Toronto Blue Joys. So again,
best bet, Milwaukee minus one and a half runs against
Pittsburgh's gonna take the Angels at home getting a run
and a half and then I'm gonna finish it up
with the San Francisco Giants by the Bay minus one
(34:02):
and a half runs, taking on the team north of
the border.
Speaker 5 (34:05):
Remember, I'm not telling you who to bet on. I'm
telling you who I better.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
All right, Rob, Well, you can believe Dion Sanders is
betting that his Colorado team is going to be very
good this year. And he talked about it with a
reporter recently. Of course, media day was this week for
all these coaches, and here's what he said.
Speaker 6 (34:32):
Do you feel an obligation with whom you are to
perform at a higher level or coach at higher level?
Speaker 7 (34:39):
Yeah, like I guess yes, I'm judged on a different scale.
My wins are totally different than your wins. Your wins
you just judging football. That's why I have to start
out and give you education and academics and so forth.
I have to give you those things so you understand
(35:00):
there's a greater scope. I can't win nine games and
we are GPA suffers. Our GPA can't be high, but
we lose another eight games. We can't not go and
grab high school players. And you got a bunch of
guys in the portal out of the portal that's getting concerrated.
(35:20):
My wins are different.
Speaker 5 (35:21):
We have to win in every area.
Speaker 7 (35:23):
That's the way we're judged, and I'm cool with that
because we come a little different.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
Interesting comments from Dion rob And.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Look, I do think at this level it really they
really just care about winning.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
Will they look closer.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
Out of an African American coach who doesn't have kids
graduating or something like that, maybe or got kids getting
in trouble. We've seen great teams, you know, Miami, all.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
The stuff at Michigan State and all the players and
problems right with the coaches up there.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Chris Irvin Meyer had his issues at Florida or had
coaches at ohiose that.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Yeah, you remember Aaron Hernandez was on the do not
draft list because of all the stuff that went on
at college right on that one out under his watch,
and that was that one was they should have listened.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
Obviously, speaking with this, he ended up getting into it.
But I just think.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
I think Dion, look, he is under a microscope, partially
because he's Dion Sanders, and he is one of the
greatest players and one of the greatest athletes we've ever seen,
but also rob because he's flamboyant, he's flashy, he talks
a lot, he talks trash. He's gotten into it with
(36:50):
players on Twitter, he's gotten into it with other coaches.
He's got celebrities and rappers on the sidelines of their game.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Like, it's not just.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
I don't know if he's saying this because he's black
or because he's d or whatever.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
It's a lot of things. He brings that, but he's up.
He's up the right exactly. Mean, let's let's not you
can't have it both ways. You up the Yanny when
you got stephen A and Shannon Sharp walking the sidelines
and Lil Wayne and all that kind of stuff, doing
a concert before the game, I mean absolutely, and that's nothing.
(37:29):
If that's what you want to do, I'm not mad
at you, But then you can't use that and say, oh,
people have different standards for us. Just like after they
won the first game, you remember he undressed up who
is his name, Ed Werner? You remember that christ ye? Yeah? After,
But he wasn't undressing anybody after week four though, I
don't remember any of that. I'm just saying, like, but.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
You're right, you're right on the money.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
I mean, he he does bring a lot of this
on himself, and so he can't be mad because if
he was as great as he is as a player,
or was as a player, and who you could think
of a Barry Sanders, Robert you know what I mean,
somebody who's more less outspoken and more conservative in that
regard or whatever.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
I don't think he wouldn't be under the same microscope.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
And it's fine, but you got to understand that that
brings the extra eyeballs and scrutiny.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
All right, we got two hours left. Y'all know what
to do. Lock it.
