keeping growing, getting better. You can check us out on
the stream Chris now, and when you get a chance,

on listen live and Chris, the stream sounds great, it
really does. And of course Martin and Jr. Are doing
(01:36):
mid days from noon to three, So Martin's on there quickly.
I'm sorry, go ahead, I was gonna say, so, Martin's
on there. Lindsey Hunter has a show in the afternoon drive.
We've had him on here.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
His VJ Husky on there too. No, oh, he's okay.
I thought he was, yeah, okay, cool.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
I'm we may have Martin jump in because I know
he's been following the WNBA. But Rob, I don't know
if you have. Caitlin Clark is balling like she is.
We talked about, you know, will she do what she did?
And she's starting to her last six games. I think
(02:19):
in July, Rob, she's averaged over eleven assists the game
and she's up to like seventeen point eight points or something.
Speaker 5 (02:29):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (02:30):
What is that?
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Seven point eight assists a game? But you hear that storm,
you hear it?
Speaker 6 (02:35):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Seven loud?
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Close my window, Yeah, wow, give me a second.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Let me close my wings. I'm telling you, it sounds
like I thought it was happening here. You know what
I mean, that's how loud it was. I thought it
was happening here was that loud?
Speaker 2 (02:53):
I could hear it? Yeah, yeah, Well.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
That's typical summer thunderstorm, right, thunder bumpers.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Well it's been it's been in the nineties, one hundred
a couple of it has been burning up.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
The earth will cool itself, Chris, you know that.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Man, Yeah, exactly, that's what you're right, right, But Caitlin Clark.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Is killing, so she's doing.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Their team is turned around, and it's because Clark is
playing better. But one reason she's playing better is because
of Leah Boston. Let's just face it. Last year's rookie
of the Year. She just didn't come into the season
in shape. And now she's yeah, now she's like back
to she's actually playing better probably than she did last year.
And she's great, and you know, she's giving Caitlyn help
(03:37):
and she's another person you gotta, you know, pay attention to.
And so they they actually got something going. They've won,
like after the one and eight start, they've gone ten
and six.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
So that's Martin. You've you've been checking, uh checking him out.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Of course, Angel reeves playing well with the double doubles, Uh,
but these two rookies all that talk about, I know
they you know, they about to find out what time
it is.
Speaker 7 (04:03):
I mean they coming in ballin. Yeah, I've been paying attention.
I've been locked in. There's only twelve teams, so it's
hard to you know, to.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Not be locked in, right. It doesn't e stay on
top of everything exactly right.
Speaker 6 (04:16):
Right.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
But Clark is looking great.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
I mean she she's starting to look like she looked
in college.
Speaker 7 (04:22):
The one thing she's not scoring quite as much. I'd
say the one thing she's got to work on is
her turnovers. And I think her shot selection leaves a
little bit to be desired. Like right now, she's got
fourteen points, I mean seventeen points on fourteen shots, two
for seven from three. I think she might want to
be a little more judicious on some of the three
pointers that she takes. But outside of that, she's She's
(04:42):
pretty much what the ads advertised.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
I'll tell you, I'm not being a DeBie downer. I've
seen highlights, but I haven't seen one minute of a
w NBA game this year.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
I haven't seen.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
It just doesn't interest me not. I watched the high
lights because I'm watching sports Center Chris or whatever.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Well, you ain't watching a high as you're watching sports.
Then you see the hot you know what I mean. Right, well,
it's on the Hockey Highlight.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Okay, that's that's where I'm at, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
It's on.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
But I haven't watched a single game. I mean, I know,
I was in my hotel the other day and I
was flipping the channel and I guess games some games
are on CBS. I heard, you know what I mean. Like,
I was like, okay, some w NBA games are on
CBS now. So I didn't know that enough. But I
couldn't tell you like who was playing or what was
(05:33):
going on. I just just it just doesn't I'm in.
I'm just never No, you're not. I mean, you're actually
in the majority, to be honest, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
But the league is experiencing growth, and everybody's not gonna watch,
but they are definitely experiencing growth. And you know, Caitlin
Clark and even Angel Reese to a lesser degree, but
still Angel Reese are really bringing some popularity to this
sport that they really haven't seen in decades. So all right, rob,
(06:05):
let's go here. We talked with Eddie House about it.
Bronnie James, who plays tonight, it'd be starting in about
thirty minutes.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Actually he's zero for fifteen from three.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
I think he's seven for thirty one over ass like
twenty two. And everybody, of course is talking about Briannie.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Is he ready? Is he a pro? What the heck
is going on?
Speaker 1 (06:28):
But Alex Saar, who was the number two pick in
the draft by the Washington Wizards and was actually.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Viewed for most of the lead up to.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
The draft as the best player in the draft, and
he wouldn't work out for the Atlanta Hawks. So I
don't know if that's the sole reason, but that may
have contributed to them taking Zachary Rishische instead of Alex Sarr.
I'm surprised I didn't hear Rob say.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
I was gonna say it all right, I'll just give
you a go ahead already.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
It's sorry Rob last night and Martin, look up what
he's been doing in the Summer League, like his first
couple of games, because last night, I think it was
last night, but his last game, Rob, he was oh
for fifteen. Now, this isn't Bronnie, this isn't the fifty
fifth pick in the draft.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
This is the second pick in the draft.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
He's a seven footer from France and he was oh
for fifteen.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
I mean I think oh for seven from Trey. So
what are your thoughts on that?
Speaker 1 (07:35):
And a lot of people wonder why Eddie House even asked,
why aren't we talking about him like we're talking about Brown?
Speaker 4 (07:40):
Because nobody he knows who that guy is. His dad
is not one of the most famous basketball players who
ever played. His dad didn't finagel to get him in
to a situation that nobody had for the most part,
quiz it ever had happened. And that's why Bronnie is
Bronnie's always going to be a bigger story because of
(08:01):
his dad. And that's why if Bronnie was Chris the
fifty fifth pick who did not wasn't related to lebron Jones,
Bronnie Bronnie Jones, and he was off to this you know,
bad star, shaky start, whatever you want to use the term.
It wouldn't be the highlights on Sports Center exactly that
(08:24):
you know that nobody one hundred percent. But if you're
going to if Bronnie James has a good day or
steal or Big three or whatever, and they're showing that, Chris,
They're gonna show when you when you go zero for
fifteen from three or whatever it is, you know what
I mean, Like, that's what comes with it, because if
he was playing well, they wouldn't be like, oh, we're
(08:45):
not showing that no, I mean right. They would be like, oh,
we're not showing he's a fifty fifth pick. We're not
showing summer league highlights of that guy. They would be
showing it like crazy. Can you imagine if he was
killing right, it would be like it would be upbeat,
it would be qusch you would have to turn the
channel if he was.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
And it's interesting, rob like and it's not a surprise,
but there's number one draft pick, or there's the seventeenth
pick overall, Dalton connect from Tennessee. He's actually been playing well,
Like he's playing really well, and he's not really getting
You're not hearing much at all about him. And we
understand why I will say this about Alex Sarr and
(09:25):
I'm gonna just take it to the nerdy basketball reason
why I think people are, you know, not as up
in arms about him. I agree totally with what you said.
Is Lebron James's son versus some guy from France that
we don't know.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
We never saw it. We don't know, we don't know, right,
That is the main reason.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
But I'm gonna say this as well, And if Martin,
I don't know, if you, if either of you been
watching these games or at least the highlights, tell me
what you think of this take I watched saw are
mostly the highlights yesterday of his game when he went
over fifteen or two days ago, whenever.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
It was, he.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Like, he doesn't look out of Not only does he
not look out of place, he.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Looks incredibly comfortable on the court. His form is nice.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
He's seven feet one, but he's he moves well.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
He doesn't look gawky, he looks smooth.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
He just missed. It wasn't like, oh he's right. This
guy's got a rushing shots or he can barely get
his shot off.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
It would be he's missed. He just missed. Now, I
will say this, this is the negative.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
He loves the three. I think it was over seven
from three. There was a four on one break he
pulled up from.
Speaker 8 (10:52):
Now, so that's ridiculous, Bud, he's too in love with
the three, Like he could easily because it's the handles decent,
pretty good for a guy that tall.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
But his things are clearly fixable. I'm not really even pressed.
I'm not saying this dude's gonna be a superst I
don't know, but I'm telling you on the court, he
looks like he more than belongs. He just missed shots, Martin.
Did you see any of his highlights of the game.
Speaker 7 (11:20):
I saw him block three shots in fifteen seconds, But
that was right.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
He also had three blocks, so but did you agree,
Like no, I'm talking about shots today.
Speaker 7 (11:30):
It was I didn't see yesterday. He did it maybe
two or three days ago. Chris, I got his numbers here.
Think he had three blocks in the game? He went
over fifteen?
Speaker 6 (11:37):
He did?
Speaker 3 (11:37):
He did?
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah? Right now?
Speaker 7 (11:40):
Shooting percentage from the floor, I robust nineteen point five percent.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
Well, how much of that is the old for I mean,
you go for fifteen, it's gonna be ugly what he
do the games before.
Speaker 7 (11:50):
That, they just they don't break him down game by game.
This is just his so far in Summer League. He's
on thirteen attempts. He's making about two shots nineteen and
a half percent from the floor for thirteen on average, Yes,
for it takes six threes a game, it makes point
seven for a really in love.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
With the three.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Yeah, he's doing love with the three. He's doing love
with the three. But yeah, I mean, this is just
a basketball thing on it. I don't think he's and
I know what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
You're saying like he's he's obviously a player, just had
a bad day at the office, right right, like just
to say, I.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Mean for Wimby's first game.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Now, I know this wasn't this guy's first game, but
you know, Wimby looked like, wow.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
He's gonna take a while, and he wound up.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
He took a game, right Yeah, And then all of
a sudden, everybody was like everyone knows it's Wimby, you
know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Just yeah, but Brownie Robe, I mean, he's a he's
a project, that's what he is.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
You don't don't say that about I saw your clip
on I g from first things first.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
Yeah, and you you're gonna give him time and whatnot,
which just fine, No one's gonna no one takes I've
talked to people in the NBA, and you know, the
summer League is not the end all be all where
you're crowning people.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Chris, good or bad. You gotta be careful good or bad.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
So I do agree with that, And people in the
NBA i've talked to said, yeah, you just can't put
too much.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Stock in it.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
But I agree with he just doesn't seem comfortable, like
I mean, he's.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Got a long way to go, like right now. He's
the other thing too, and I look, this is how
role players are. But he doesn't really do anything, you know,
like when he's out there and he's he's hustling on
defense and he's getting after it. But if his name,
(13:49):
if he wasn't Brianie James, you wouldn't even You almost
wouldn't really know he's out there.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
And that's fair. And it was kind of like that
at USC.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Right, Some people have presence Chris, even if they're not
involved in the scoring or whatever. Like there's just something
about that player that draws you to them. And I agree.
A lot of times I'm looking for Bronnie as I.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
You're looking at it. Look number nine, right, I'm trying
to find him. Right, where's Roald though?
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Is he just standing there in the corner, Bronnie, where
are you?
Speaker 2 (14:21):
No, it's it's that you don't.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
He doesn't really do much and seven to seventeen left
in the fourth quarter, Indiana fever Dell, what the okay?
Speaker 9 (14:32):
Tell me what's going and he's taking Martin like but he'srupted.
Just you you you co hosted the last two days. Man,
Now you gotta just hop in like willy nilly, My
good god.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
I just don't remember Steve di Seger ever doing that.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
I'm just saying, Steven all right eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox, Bronnie Oh for fifteen from three overall.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
In his three Summer League games.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Ali Alexander Sar, the number two pick was zero for fifteen.
Yet in one game, why are we talking more about
Brianie and not at all about the number two pick
in the draft? Your thoughts on this quandary or strange situation?

(17:24):
aren't they talking about Alexander Sar who went oh for
fifteen in one game. He's the number two big in
the draft. Plus he's a foot taller than Bronnie.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Your thoughts?
Speaker 4 (17:34):
All right, let's kick it off with Chad in the
Natti Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
You're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Chad?
Speaker 6 (17:41):
Happy worship Wednesday? Sellers?
Speaker 11 (17:43):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Buddy? How are you too?
Speaker 6 (17:46):
Just blessed to be here? My son's doing good. Og,
everything's working out for me. The Lord just kept his
hands on me, and I'm just blessed to be here.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
So hey man, how old is your son?
Speaker 12 (17:59):
Now?
Speaker 8 (18:00):
Two?
Speaker 6 (18:01):
No, he's three. Wow, I still have the that that
gift that you sent to so so I just you know,
I think Lebron he midstepped with this. He put a
target on his son's back. Uh, with the bragging saying
(18:23):
that he would be better than most NBA players.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Now, yeah, that was bad in the beginning. He's better
than half the players in the.
Speaker 6 (18:32):
League, right, God bless him. Even with this heart ailment,
I still think he would be struggling. I think, you know,
he would be struggling to play in the Big ten
this year. If he would have went to O s
U or if he would have stayed with USC and
say transferred to the Big ten, I think he would
have struggled to play in the Big ten. I just
(18:53):
feel sorry for him because he has to live up
to expectations that will never live up to. He's out there,
he's doesn't have a solid jump shot. He looks kind
of lost in transition. I think he needs to work
on his fundamentals. He probably should just stay in the
G League this year so he doesn't get exposed. That way,
it won't break his confidence.
Speaker 12 (19:15):
So yeah, yeah, I appreciate.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Well, that's the thing. That's a good point like, thank you.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
He's gonna have to keep his confidence throughout this and
you know he's nineteen years old, which I guess could
be something he can say, Hey, I'm young.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
But people lose confidence, you know, like you know some
of the best players in the world. Didn't Klay Thompson
talk about it at one point Chris like he said
he lost his confidence.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
He wasn't.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Think think about this, Rob Like, when is the last
time Bronnie can look back and be like I was balling,
you know, like the McDonald's game, which you know too longer,
but you know what I mean, Like he can't look
back at USC obviously, Summer League has been a struggle.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
So yeah, he's got to keep his confidence up, all right.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, Marty in Pennsyl Tucky,
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
What's up, Marty? What's up?
Speaker 6 (20:16):
Marty?
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Brob how are you?
Speaker 11 (20:21):
I'm great and I'm out here working in the garden
and join your show.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
Thank you, buddy, Thank you, mamma.
Speaker 11 (20:28):
Yeah, as always. You know what I love about Chris
when he's covering basketball, I mean, he's got to be
the most objective analyst i've ever heard covering basketball. You know,
Chris is just barely taller than midget status, and he's all, wow,
I know I had this tell a little solo dart
(20:50):
at you, but now.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
You sound like Fernando Wow. Talk about Martin Wow.
Speaker 11 (20:55):
But but it emphasizes how objective you are about the game.
You think like a point guard. I know when you played,
you've seen every size mismatch on the floor. You always
emphasize size. And okay, nobody's talking about sorrow, but you
know what Star seven to one, he shows some ball
handling skills. He doesn't show it on the floor. You
(21:18):
can see where you can develop him. But you cannot
make Brownnie grow one. You can't make Bronnie grow right.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
That's that's true when it.
Speaker 11 (21:31):
Boils down to it. And Chris always points out, even
when I'm watching watching the show in the morning, you
always emphasize side size side, and I'm like, man, this guy,
this is the shortest goin on television.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
He just.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
But it.
Speaker 11 (21:48):
But it just shows your objectivity and uh, and I
love it. And then you're right, I mean, sorrow is
you can see you can see it. Right, He's probably
gonna be Bronni's gonna be with the Lakers. Lebron's already
told them that he's willing to take a pay cut
if they can get another guy. And I think that,
(22:09):
I think behind coach doors, that was part of the
whole deal. You know, get my son with me, and
I get it. You know, I'm a dad. Sometimes he
spoiled them, and sometimes you make the right choice. Sometimes
you make the wrong choice and you love him.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Do you think he's made the wrong choice at this point?
Speaker 12 (22:24):
Do you think, like, I don't know how to think.
Speaker 11 (22:27):
In his shoes. He's a billionaire, so he's in my shoes.
I would be like, I don't need to make it
too easy on my kid. I need to make him
work for it.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
But in his shoes it might be well, you.
Speaker 11 (22:37):
Know, if it's to work out, I'm a billionaire, he's good.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Yeah, right, But I just I still think this is
about Lebron. I do more than Bronny. That's just how
I feel.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
All right, appreciate it, Marty, We all tell you.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
I think I think, thank you. It was some I
don't know what that was. It was a backhanded one
more go ahead, real quick.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Tim Tim in Atlanta, Chili, Tim real quick, buddy. We
wanted to get you on how you doing Chili Temple, Robert, I'm.
Speaker 12 (23:08):
Doing a girl man. Hey man, it's because Ridge, Paul
and Lebron of publicity horse excuse me on his worsh
of Wednesday. But that's what they are. They asked for it,
they got it out. You know this he's he has
a position. He's a small guy that's not built for
a league for small guards like that. You have to
be exceptionable to be at this how he is and
(23:30):
play in the NBA. And like the Marty said, with
other guys, you can see it. Like you they may
be struggling now, but you see the glimpses. You haven't
run it with Bonnie and and in his position, he's
just he has no height, you know, and and guards.
You have to have some type of skill to play
in the NBA. I mean, look at Isaiah Thomas. He
(23:53):
you know he was small or you know, like but
he had something yeah, but play right right, Yeah, Bronni
didn't have that, So I don't know what he's gonna do. Man,
You're right, Rob, it's all about Lebron. He put in
there and now you know he wants to tell people that,
you know, lay it back.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
No, you can't have to lay it back now, Chris,
you know that.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
But look, now he's a I mean, Bronnie is a
professional player. Now he's getting paid, you know, like like
I mean, yeah, the people aren't gonna lay off. I
mean people, he's gonna get, you know, critiqued, and he's
obviously struggling. You know, rob if you're that height generally
(24:38):
and you're gonna you're not a point guard.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
You have to be like a super freak athlete.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
And Briannie is athletic in terms of his leaping ability
and he's got some strength, but he not like an
Alan Iverson, you know, like just super freak athlete who
could basically be a two guard even though he's the
size of a point guard. So oh look, he's just
gonna try to have to be defense and he's gotta
(25:05):
get his three point shot improved so he can be
a three and D guy if that's.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
What he's going being in a rotation. But you can't
be on for fifteen from three, Nahna.
Speaker 1 (25:16):

Speaker 12 (25:44):
Rob.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Did you see the way you.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Just let that insult from Fernando just flow off his back,
like didn't even think about it?
Speaker 2 (25:51):
You know where he was having nightmares about that. You
can't be that sensitive.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
You know they rip us all the time, Chris and I.
You're not supposed to respond very different if I had
takes like you when people were ripping me from my opinions.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
See that was that was a surprise.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
He doesn't like you, they basically saying from blabermouth, Right,
that's what he's saying.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
It's all right, Martina.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
You know what The worst thing that could happen is
nobody calls up to get on your case, which means
you you're irrelevant.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Okay? Would you right, Chris? Wouldn't you rather somebody be
bothered by you?
Speaker 6 (26:27):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Love you or hate?
Speaker 6 (26:28):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (26:29):
They got an opinion on your.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Yeah, you're making them think about I only came back tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (26:34):
Rob, I just wanted you to hear it, says it
kept getting mentioned on the show.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
That's right, that's all, okay, I heard it?
Speaker 11 (26:39):
All right?
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Anyway, all right, it's time for foul or fair with
j R Gamble.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
That it was a big week in the big leagues.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Who's who's a.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
Is it foul or is it fair? And now from
mlbing bro to do here's JR gamble.
Speaker 13 (27:04):
All right, what up guys, Ryan Berchinger in for Rob
G today. We've got JR Gamble from mlbbro dot com
with us as well, So let's kick this off. Rob
Manfred revealed on Tuesday that Major League Baseball will test
robot umps during spring training in twenty twenty five, and
if all goes well, could bring it to the big
leagues as early as twenty twenty six. Easy question, Fowler,
(27:26):
fair to say robot umps would be a good thing
for baseball?
Speaker 2 (27:31):
That is a.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
Foul ball, I mean Fullton abs also be ridiculous. Actually,
another unnecessary change to a game that's already undergone great
tweak in the last three years, and it hasn't really
helped the game that much in my opinion, not in
the ways that it should be. Like improving hit, his
(27:53):
ability to make contacts and just get hit. Now, if
you're using it for accuracy for a challenge of a
back call, which man Prince said, that's what they're gonna
start doing first. They're not just gonna throw the the
robots in, They're gonna use it to challenge calls. Then
that's kind of good because ups and baseball have never
really been held to a standard of any concrete, great
(28:15):
instantem that the fans could understand. So if the manager
wants to just use on challenges, that's good, but full
time heck, no, human elements still rules in sports.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Fair It's all way now. I do agree with jr.
Is that I would prefer to have human ups, but
you better start holding these dudes to the standards. Strike zone.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Why does every umpire have their own strike zone? That's ridiculous.
You go to the NFL.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Some fields aren't eighty yards, others aren't one hundred and twenty.
You got a standard. That's it, and that's what it
should be with the strike zone.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Whatever.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Hold them to the strike zone and it will keep
the human ups. But if they can continue to fool
around and make themselves a part of the story, and
I got my own special strike zone, and he got
his own special strike zone. Didn't bring in the bring
in the robots. So I'm giving them humans a chance.
(29:16):
But if not didn't bring on the robots, I'm going foul.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
That is a foul ball.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
I just like, this is the most overdone thing that
I've ever seen. We watch NFL football with replay, and
they still don't get the calls right. Every Sunday we'll
watch it and they still don't get it. And they
got replaying and a thousand cameras, And I don't know
how many people sit around baseball fans and talk about
(29:43):
the strike zone like that's just not the depressing moment.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Or tell me what World Series was lost?
Speaker 4 (29:51):
Do you remember that time the world the umpire lost
us the World Series. I just don't know how many
times fans really talk about it. In that van, Chris,
the only thing I'll agree with you is hold them accountable,
like Angel or Nanez.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
They forced him to retire, get rid of people.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
If they don't do a good job, if they don't,
if they if they if you monitor them right, and
they don't do a good job at colling balls to
strike and it's under seventy five percent of whatever the
threshold is, then they should be.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Sent to do something else. That's all all right, next
up here about that? No, that's okay, great, great, you
know what I'm saying, right Ryan, you have a baseball guy.
Speaker 13 (30:30):
Yes, I feel that. Uh, guys, we're talking about shoey
Otani earlier. So as if shoey Otani needed another accolade
to add to his resume, Yesterday he became the first
player in MLB history to start four straight All Star
Games as a designated hitter. That's crazy, yeah, yeah, and
he's done it for two different leagues, which used to
not be possible. With that said, is it foul or
(30:51):
fair to say that Otani is already the greatest to
DH of all my jr.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
That is a foul ball.
Speaker 5 (31:03):
Come on, man, gosh, everything is you know, everything got
me hyped up? Group time twelve the two greatest Sday
hit is the all time in the Hall of Fame. Okay,
they've both been there. So let me know when O'tany
reaches five hundred and forty one career home and it's
about two ninety for twenty seasons like Big Poppy did,
let me know when he hit three forty three or
(31:25):
three fifty six with an opp of zero point four
seventy nine like Edgar Martinez did. Then talk to me
in the words of Rob Parker, No way, no.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
Hew, gigg little gig ya, and I'm gonna agree with JR.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
It's five.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
That is a foul ball.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
It's just premature, Chris, you know what I mean, Like, like,
I know you want to fast forward and say he's
gonna do this for the next twelve years and automatically
he's this or that.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
It's just too premature.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
Those other guys had long story careers and have resumes
that are impressive.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
He's not the best. Dch Ever, I.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Agree, foul that is a foul ball. It's just too early, Robs.
I mean, maybe you know, do it five more years,
maybe something. No, it's just yes, it's way too early
for that, all right, quickly, last one here. The sons
of Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz were both taken on
the final day of the MLB Draft this week. It's
(32:23):
a great story, for sure, but an even greater story
would be if their sons were drafted while Manny and
Big Poppy were both still playing. In fact, we haven't
seen a father son duo playing on the same team
since Rock Rains and his son Tim in two thousand
and one, So is it foul or fair to say
we won't see another father son duo in the majors
again in our lifetimes?
Speaker 5 (32:44):
In a lifetimes?
Speaker 6 (32:45):
Fou that is a foul ball.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
But honestly, with this question, how the heck do we
really know?
Speaker 6 (32:52):
Ryan?
Speaker 5 (32:52):
How would we know? You know what I mean? It's
not a stat like if we see somebody get paid.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
A billion dollar, yes we will, yes, one.
Speaker 5 (33:02):
Hundred career home run right or still one hundred and
fifty bases? That question is based on too many facts.
Do we ever see a father's son play together? I
don't know. A father has to come, he has to play,
and then he has to have a son, and then
fifteen twenty years later, the son has to play and
the father still has to be there. So I couldn't
honestly tell you, but I could definitely say it's not
(33:25):
the last time we've probably ever seen that. With the
way medicine is going and the way people are taking
care of their bodies, So yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Yeah, ahead, I want to say foul that is a
foul ball. I mean, the guys, you know, they're well.
Now I shouldn't say they're playing longer, but the nutrition
and everything is better, so they theoretically could play longer.
And baseball is the sport, even though Lebron's about to
do it, but baseball is the sport where it's most likely, right,
(33:56):
So yeah, I think we will see somebody.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
I agree, foul that is a foul ball.
Speaker 4 (34:03):
I don't just have a young you know, I have
a kid early Chris right and Jr. And they're good
and like like like the idea that nobody guys baseball.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
You could have a long career.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
Guys played twenty years in baseball, so it's not inconceivable.
And I almost forgot that Rock Rains and his son
Tim played together. I almost forgot that.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
Chris. You don't remember that, do you?
Speaker 6 (34:26):
No?
Speaker 2 (34:26):
I don't remember that. Yeah, all right, thanks Jr? All right, Jr?
Thanks man, great stuff. I agree with I know you know,
what's the All Star break? We bailed it into mo
Rock over coming away Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:44):

(35:30):

you'll see today's show. Post it right after we get
off the air. Rob there was a Martin and I
talked a lot about this survey that ESPN did of
executives nearly eighty executives and coaches around the NFL, and
(35:52):
they ranked the quarterbacks top ten quarterbacks. Dak Prescott was ten,
Jared Goff nine, Aaron Rodgers eight, c. J. Stroud seven,
Justin Herbert six, who was Matthew Stafford five, Lamar Jackson four,
(36:15):
Josh Allen three, Joe Burrow to Patrick Mahoonmes one, you
have any issues with that list?
Speaker 2 (36:23):
That top ten? I mean, I don't I don't know.
I mean it's arbitrary. I don't know what it's based
off of.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
Is it just based off of because if it's based
off of last year, and Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Shouldn't been it didn't play. Yeah, you know what I mean.
So that's why who they think this year?
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying, Like, I can't really make
a true gauge on it, Chris, because of because Aaron Rodgers,
if you're doing historical, which is the only way he
could fit in, he would be higher than C. J. Stroud,
right if you just go by that. So that's weird
that he probably shouldn't be in it, unless it's just
(37:01):
even you just.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
Guess him, which was his last year in Green Bay.
He didn't look great. He you know, he was career
lows and at least as a starter in tons of categories.
So but one anonymous scout rob or executive said that
Briani I'm not I'm watching Briannie. Now.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
I don't know if this was a replay. I was
trying to figure that out. I was no, this is live, yeah,
because they played this is the third Summer League, fourth
fourth game. Second, is it only the second it.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
To Yeah, so the other games I don't count.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
I think two and in the Bay Area and this
is their third in Vegas. But anyway, they said that
one one anonymous executive said that Josh Allen is one
of the most overrated players in the in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
What are your thoughts on that? Yeah, I don't know,
one of the most overrated. I mean, he's done a
lot of stuff. He's piled up numbers.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
He's got more touchdowns than any quarterback, including Mahomes over
the last five years.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
That's not like more than twenty. I get it. I
get it.
Speaker 4 (38:16):
Chris the turnovers bother you you know what I mean.
I do get that part. I do because he turns
the ball over a lot, tried to do too much
sometimes when he could just go down right.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (38:28):
So I could see where somebody would not like that.
But to call him the most overrated, I think that's
a stretch.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
Yeah, I mean, if anyone, there are a handful of
people out there that think he's better than Patrick Mahomes.
One voter of the you know, of the seventy Sumid
people that they survey, had Josh Allen over Mahomes one.
And then there's something that think he's on the same,
you know, he's just as good or something.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Like that, that's overrated.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
But overall, I for those that don't think he's better
than Mahomes or at least as good as Mahomes, I
don't think. I don't know how you say that. Then
I think he's properly rated. He's third in the list.
You could argue should be four. If you want to
move Lamar ahead of him, you could argue he could
be second, right if you want to put him ahead
to Joe Burrow.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
So who else was going to give me that the
real quick the.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
Maholmes, Burrow, Allan Lamar, Matthew Stafford, Justin Herbert.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
I think I think Justin Herbert is too high.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
Maybe yeah, he I mean he's got the ask, the numbers,
but he hadn't done anything.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
But he took a step back last year, let's just
admit it. But that's one bad year.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
No, But I'm just saying to me like he's been
great as.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
Yeah, but I'm just saying most of his little I
think he's a little over rated.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
If he doesn't do well, that's fair though, But if
he doesn't do well under Harball, then he's going to
do when they running the ball every day, you.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Know, pick it up again, all right. We out is
