final hour of the programming in about twenty eight minutes,
(01:19):
Trey Wingo, co host of the Alternate Routes podcast. We'll
talk with him at the bottom of the hour, but
first we want to e from talk about the WNBA.
Cheryl Miller, who's a little worked up about the new
television contract that the NBA got and the share that
it gave the WNBA out of all of the the
(01:42):
seventy six million dollars over eleven years a billion, I'm sorry,
over over eleven over eleven years, Rob g and and
and tell us the amount of money the WNBA got
out of that.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
So on the current media rightes deal, the WNBAS sixty
million dollars a season from the NBA, because again they
are zero subsidized by the NBA. With this new television
contract kicking in starting after this next season, that number
is being raised over three hundred percent. They're going to
(02:17):
be receiving two hundred million dollars a year for a
total of two point two billion. Only problem is the
WNBA Players Association president and now Cheryl Miller are unhappy
about the massive raise.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Take a listen.
Speaker 6 (02:36):
Reporting about a two point two billion dollar meteorite.
Speaker 7 (02:39):
Steal out there. There's a rumor of it reporting about
the next meeting. That's then if you I'm not great
with numbers, low ball, why do you say that that's
a low ball? You're saying how.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
Much two point two billion over all?
Speaker 7 (02:53):
Not enough, not even close.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
Now.
Speaker 7 (02:56):
I'm not trying to inflate it a whole lot, but
a two is not and eight would be better. That's
what I'm talking about, because they know, they know, and
we certainly have come a long way, and I'm not
about gouging. But it's a long time overdue and we're
gonna continue to get better and better. All you have
to do is look at you know, college basketball and
(03:19):
what's coming next, the next wave, the next wave of excitement.
And you have this now and pretty soon we're going
to add another gold medal. So women's basketball is in
a great place right now.
Speaker 8 (03:35):
Cheryl Miller, is this on? Stop it?
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Cheryl Miller, I get it. You know you had the microphone.
Somebody asked you a question, so you decided. But what
Cheryl Miller, don't understand that before this year and Caitlin Clark,
the W and WNBA stood for welfare.
Speaker 8 (03:56):
Okay, that's what it stood for Ephraim.
Speaker 9 (03:59):
And for years, twenty nine years, they've been taking the
one hundred and sixty ounce box of frosted flakes with
no sugar on it and the government cheese from the
NBA as this league lost money hand over fist. It
lost money, and now all of a sudden, a three
(04:21):
hundred percent increase.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Ain't good enough. Sheryl Miller, stop it. I got news
for you. Caitlyn Clark is the Harlem Globe Trotters. When
she goes and plays, they show up in the numbers
of their They still getting five and six thousand at
these other games where Caitlyn Clark is nowhere to be seen,
(04:44):
they still aren't watching those games. So before you get
big and bad and tell us how great it is
even this year with Caitlyn Clark, these aren't rob a
Pedia numbers. These are from the Washington Post WNBA, the
welfare NBA, as i'll call it. It's scheduled to lose
(05:06):
fifty million.
Speaker 8 (05:07):
Dollars this year. So Cheryl, you won an eight You
want eight billion?
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Pay back all the money the last twenty nine years
that the.
Speaker 8 (05:17):
NBA put in.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
If this was a real business, he from this league
would have been out of business twenty five years ago.
Speaker 8 (05:25):
Okay, if it was a real business.
Speaker 10 (05:27):
Well when And look, I'm not gonna go so far
as to disrespect the WNBA calling the w welfare Okay,
I'm not gonna be that. I'm not gonna be that guy.
I'm married, I got a wife at home, a woman
at home. Okay, okay, but I will say this. I
think it's tremendous. I think the opportunity to increase player
salaries for the women of the WNBA.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
Is amazing.
Speaker 10 (05:52):
Most of the women who start in the WNBA in
the offseason go play overseas so they could subsidize their income.
Allowed the whole Britney grinderd situation where you know, she
got in trouble and and prisoned in Russia because she
was going over to play because I.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
Was her other team.
Speaker 8 (06:08):
That's the only way she could make me play exactly.
Speaker 10 (06:10):
So I get that this increase in two point two
billion dollars, I think at a three hundred percent increase
than what it was. I think it's tremendous. You're absolutely right.
Since ninety seven, the WNBA has been losing ten million dollars.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
A year.
Speaker 10 (06:29):
That the NBA has subsidized. This year is going to
be fifty million dollars. And some may be asking, well,
how is that possible when viewership and numbers are up.
It's because they now have chartered flights. My expenses have
gone off. So each team I believe the chartered flights
are about roughly twenty five I mean twenty five million
(06:50):
dollars to charter all these flights or something like that.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
That's because the stock for Southwest went down now at
the w.
Speaker 10 (06:57):
And and so, uh, business is business. Emotions are emotions,
but numbers don't lie. And that's the thing, right, So
when you're dealing with business, and you're dealing with revenue
and profit sharing and all of those things, those numbers
are pretty precise. Now, having an increase of two point
(07:19):
two billion dollars over the next eleven years, I think
it's tremendous. Having a two hundred million dollar boost every
year for the WNBA, I think it's tremendous. I think
it's tremendous. Strides what I would say to a Cheryl
Miller who was a goat all right, an all time grade.
I remember when Cheryl was younger. Now, when it comes
(07:40):
to math numbers, she says she's not good with numbers.
She said that, and thank you for saying it, But
that's what she said. That's her. But I mean, I
remember this is the first conversation with her. Like man,
it's a woman who can play in the NBA, and
it was her, and so I respect her game and
her knowledge of the game, and it was awesome watching
her coach in the All Star Game.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
The reality of the situation is.
Speaker 10 (08:05):
We have the w n B A has not been
profitable at all ever, and in order to get that
too to an eight, you have to be profitable. Now,
I agree with what she's saying. We're all time high
in women's basketball, women's sports in general, the new crop
of kids, the jujus in college at all, all of
(08:28):
all of that. It's coming, right, it's coming. It's not
here yet.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
I get that, but it still doesn't translate. And and
I've said this forever until women start going to w n.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
B again game, Well, yeah, that's what it's Okay.
Speaker 8 (08:43):
You don't need the men, you know, dot, You don't
even need from need the men.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Women take their kids, their husband, their boyfriends to w
NBA games.
Speaker 8 (08:53):
You sell out, you watch the games. The bottom line.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Business, Okay, if you got the numbers, business will say what,
Oh they're watching, Oh the building is sold out. Oh
the tickets are season tickets got snapped up in three hours, dude,
it's business.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
It happened in Indiana, But that's the only place it.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Happens, right, And that's what I'm trying to say. You're
looking at what Caitlin Clark has done, and you're trying
to act like it's over the entire league.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
It's not. It's not.
Speaker 10 (09:26):
And that's the perception of it, right because we see
her play more than anybody else, We talk about her
more than anybody else. So the perception is, oh, this league,
oh my god, it's it's booming. That's not necessarily the case.
She is a tremendous talent. I think with her, Andel
(09:47):
Reese is doing them being in the All Star Game together,
playing together. I think it's the awesome next correct steps
for building this brand into something that is profitable, something
that is going to grow uh in the near future
and keep going, something that's driving young girls to play
(10:09):
and want to be great. I think all of those
are right, but to skip so you're not You not
only want a three hundred increase in revenue isn't good
and and and and uh of money isn't good enough?
You want like a twelve hundred you know, twelve percent increase.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
Right like, which which is in business it's unheard of
on her Nobody n iPhone.
Speaker 8 (10:36):
Right, not exactly.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
There was something that was never on the planet before
that just that came into play under the w NBA to.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
Be disrespectful to share because.
Speaker 8 (10:46):
She is this is not right.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
But this is not about her personally or about her
ability to play or where she stands in women's basketball.
I'm telling you her math is wrong, and I'm telling
you that they've been subsidized for almost thirty years. Okay,
if this was real business, Cheryl Miller, the league would
have been bordered up twenty five years ago.
Speaker 8 (11:10):
Like you open up a business. E from my been.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
I own a barbershop in Detroit twenty two years Like
if we weren't making money, you think we still be open?
Speaker 8 (11:19):
Of course not.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
Is that where you get your haircut?
Speaker 8 (11:22):
No?
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Okay, good, that's here in l A. I need a haircut.
I got an apartment be quiety from.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
Don't take away from what I'm trying to say. You're
making a great point.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
But that's what it comes down to. And I don't
know what math they're doing in the WNBA. And they
see the big contract right now and they got right now,
and they think that they deserve the same thing and
they should be making the same salaries that the NBA
players are making.
Speaker 8 (11:49):
Where's our two hundred million dollar deal? What?
Speaker 1 (11:53):
What?
Speaker 10 (11:55):
No? Look the fact that you can watch WNBA games
regularly on television this year, it's another big step, right,
Like they were on like YouTube, they were on like
I mean, I wouldn't even have known outside of one
or two games what the TV deal look like for
(12:17):
a w NBA a game. Prior to this season.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
I can remember I had four tickets to a Sparks game,
La Sparks game, and I was like, I'm not going
I left them on my windshield. I went inside to
a restaurant. I came back out and there were eight
tickets and a big chunk of government cheese.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 10 (12:37):
I knew for a fact that wasn't going nowhere good,
all right, out of control?
Speaker 8 (12:43):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine or Fox. We do want
to hear from you.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Does the w NBA, the welfare NBAS as I call it,
the WNBA, deserves eight bill.
Speaker 5 (12:53):
Why are you shaking your hand no part of this man.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Does the w NBA deserve eight billion dollars from the
NBA's new media rights deal. We want to continue this
conversation with you. We want to hear from you. Seriously,
chime in. If I'm wrong, tell me I'm wrong. If
I'm right, stand with me. Let me know. It is

called over promise.
Speaker 11 (14:03):

seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine
(15:25):
nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Speaker 8 (15:27):
Cheryl Miller.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
You know, a great basketball player, but when it comes
to math, so fuzzy and so crazy, and uh, I'm
just saying it. I'm calling it like I see it.
The WNBA to get money from all been getting well
the Brooklyn Way whatever? Alrighty from Atten, do people want
(15:53):
to talk?
Speaker 10 (15:54):
We got Josh and Arizona you on the our couple
with Robin e from what you got.
Speaker 13 (16:00):
How y'all do? I appreciate y'all letting me what's up?
Speaker 14 (16:02):
Josh Man?
Speaker 15 (16:05):
I bet y'all do this to me on purpose.
Speaker 13 (16:08):
Once again, mister Rob Parker, they have pitched you a
softball and you did not hesitate to nailed it and
knocked it out the park. And I wish they would
sit these ladies down with an accountant on right like yourself,
to tell them the truth. There's too much softball and
going on. They let her ramble with that. Y'all had
a lady on the other week. I respect to her position.
(16:31):
I know she feels like she knows what she's doing
and everything like that. But she got on here talking
about Adam Silver.
Speaker 8 (16:37):
That was Sabrina Merchant.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
We had her on right from the Athletic and I
had to push back on her.
Speaker 13 (16:43):
Yeah she was she's talking about Oh she thought they
actually made money. It's a big difference between losing ten
million dollars and making two hundred thousand. I think that
the guy who's been a lawyer and knows what he's
doing and giving y'all money knows I don't want to
keep giving y'all money if I don't have to, if
y'all are making money. It's it's just this deluded. If
there's two reasons, I'm gonna let it go after this
(17:04):
why the WNBA is not succeeding. One, it's a god
awful product. Two it's delusion. These women are delusional. They
think that people actually want to come. No, we're coming
for Kaitlin Clark. I don't think it's gonna repeat itself
either with Juju hell of a player. I just think
Caitln has something special and people are gonna ride with
(17:27):
her until her time is done. But I don't see
this going anywhere because they don't seem to have the
right people in play to make it go anywhere from
the delusion. So that's all I got to say. But
keep doing what y'all doing.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Thanks, Josh, I appreciate eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 10 (17:41):
We got Jacob in Wisconsin. You only our couple with
Robini from what you got.
Speaker 14 (17:45):
Hey, guys, thanks for having me. So I'm a long
time soccer fan and I've seen the development of the
Women's Soccer League through through Alex Morgan on there was
a point where Alex Morgan was the main point and
the rest of the league didn't get mad about it.
(18:06):
They were happy they were making more money. Now we
got Caitlin Clark, who's about to break Yeah, I just
looked up the number. She's about about to break the
all time jersey sales of the w NBA in her
rookie season. I think she'll break it by her sophomore season.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
All right, all right, all that is good. Does she
deserve do they deserve more money?
Speaker 15 (18:32):
Well?
Speaker 14 (18:33):
It was the development of the league. Is the important
thing to get those kids out there, not just the kids,
but the people out there in the stadium and so
so wizy all.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Right, Jacob, Jacob, Jacob, thank you, Jacob Jacob Bacob was
taking us down a warm yeah all.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
You we don't mo in South Carolina. Don't be messing around.
Speaker 8 (18:58):
I felt like I was Alison wonder Land going down some.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
Yeah we we that's the wrong way. We ain't got
that much time. What's up?
Speaker 6 (19:07):
This is yeah, this is most of South Carolina. Thanks
for having me all.
Speaker 15 (19:10):
No real Kris, why do you want moth? Then take
corners that Robin Kriss.
Speaker 13 (19:15):
That's what I just want to act real quick.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
What's that?
Speaker 15 (19:20):
Why y'all don't pay corners real enough?
Speaker 3 (19:22):
That corner?
Speaker 5 (19:25):
I don't know because we'd be talking.
Speaker 10 (19:27):
I like to talk, man, if you if you want,
if you want us to open it up to the people,
I open it up to the people.
Speaker 5 (19:32):
We like to talk.
Speaker 8 (19:33):
Hey, you know what we do. We always we always
include the people.
Speaker 10 (19:37):
Look at us, look at us.
Speaker 6 (19:40):
This is my question.
Speaker 15 (19:43):
So how come women rocks?
Speaker 6 (19:47):
Going back the raw question something about women don't support
the basketball?
Speaker 15 (19:51):
So why do they support tip et cetera, w M
b A, which is a female.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
The men, right, and the women go to the NFL
games and now you know, like merchandise and.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
Huge, it's hullions of dollars.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
They go to the games, and they won't go to
the w NBA games. That's all I'm saying. I'm not
go look it up. Thanks for the call. Appreciate appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Mo.
Speaker 10 (20:18):
We got will and Mississippi in the sip you and
our couple with Robin e from what you got?
Speaker 14 (20:24):
What's going on with y'all?
Speaker 6 (20:25):
First thing I want to say, bad rob you fool man.
Joe had me on the floor.
Speaker 14 (20:30):
Man.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
But the answer to y'all person is no, they don't
deserve the money. But it's like I don't understand how
they not understanding and it's kind of loss still with
the last well the gas the goditar cut off because
he did go down a rabbit hole. But like the
person that you have that's gonna catapult your leads to
get you more money. You don't even support her like
they like to talk about, Oh, she was a rookie,
(20:52):
that's why we didn't put on Olympic team. But Cannas
Parker was a rookie on the Olympic team. So like
y'all don't even understand business to you give yourself more
money to put yourse a position, but you want to
ask for more money like the emotions of it with
the with women. Is this just I just I just
I just don't get it.
Speaker 8 (21:09):
Well, it's it's emotional.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
It's emotional, and they see it, and now we deserve
way more and this and that. But the numbers from
they just don't bear it out. The numbers don't match
up to the attitude, right, And you know, business, if
you have the numbers from I don't care. If you
in the movie business get it, you will get it.
They not gonna deny it because the numbers are there.
How in the world it's in black and white. You're
(21:33):
bringing this in, We're gonna give you this amount of money.
It's that simple. Oh they're not getting it in all right.
Coming up next, we're gonna talk with Trey Wingo. That's right,
co host of the Alternate Routes podcast, will do that.
Coming up next, be First, let's get you caught up.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search fs R
to and live.
Speaker 8 (22:01):
And now let's bring in friends of the program Trey Wingo,
co host of Alternate Routes, the podcast Trey, What's happened
to say hi to.
Speaker 15 (22:10):
You from Rob always going to talk to you, and
it is a thrill. Now let me let me take
that back. It is an absolute honor to talk to
the man who was part of the greatest commercial in
the history.
Speaker 5 (22:21):
I appreciate that, man.
Speaker 15 (22:23):
I mean it's not even close. That spot with you
and Chester Pitt this day legendary, my favorite fricking spot
of all time.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
It was good.
Speaker 10 (22:35):
That was fun, man, That was a good When would
you ever see two offensive linemen on the national commercial
ever at any point?
Speaker 5 (22:41):
Like never ever?
Speaker 15 (22:42):
Including a wind a Woodwind.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
It's the part of the Woodwind family.
Speaker 8 (22:51):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
It is that time of the year, Trey wingo where
people aren't showing up because they're not getting paid. Uh
ceedee lamb. Cowboys not reporting in the training camp. This
is just the NFL as we know.
Speaker 15 (23:03):
It isn't it is, Although you know you better be
careful with this one because in the new collective Bargaining Agreement,
as Ephraim will tell you, used to be able to
recoup that money if the team felt enough, if they
liked you. Under this new current CBA, I mean, they're
just burning cash. So I don't understand, and I don't
see what the power of it is at this point.
(23:24):
Now CD's going to get his money. But for a
guy like Brandon Ayuk, who the forty nine ers are
clearly not going to pay they want to, they're very
comfortable with him at at the number he's making for them,
it makes all the sense in the world for him
to be there because he's not going to get the
dollars that Ceedee Lamb is going to get, So he's
just burning cash if he doesn't hold if he doesn't
show up. So you know, CD will make up whatever
(23:47):
the fines are by the contract he's going to get
from the Cowboys. But I think it was a really
smart move for Brandon Ayuk to go in because they're
not paying him anymore and he doesn't need to burn
any more cash.
Speaker 10 (23:56):
Yeah, And in that Ayuk situation, I was saying when
he was when he initially came out and said he
wanted to be traded, the normal thing is okay, that
means he's gonna hold out, but he doesn't have any leverage.
Speaker 5 (24:09):
Like you just said, he doesn't have any leverage.
Speaker 8 (24:12):
I have leverage in the game. I'll just drop a
big touchdown that they need no, because that's.
Speaker 5 (24:16):
Taking money out of your pocket.
Speaker 14 (24:17):
Man.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
See, this is why, this is why you just.
Speaker 15 (24:21):
When they're trying to sign him somewhere else.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
That's that's exactly right.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
But I would tell him that I deliberately no no no, no, no, no, no,
no no no.
Speaker 10 (24:27):
Nobody playing with that man. Now, you're really playing with money.
But this is a perfect opportunity for him to show
up and show out. Right Now, let's talk about Dak Prescott.
Doc Prescott wants sixty million dollars a year. The Dallas
Cowboys are like, not quite sure you're the guy. We're
going to invest sixty million dollars a year as what
four years, two hundred and forty million dollars or are more?
(24:50):
What do you think how do you think that situation
plays out? If if if Dak does not take them
at least to the NFC Championship game.
Speaker 15 (24:59):
Even if he guys, I think Dak has a lot
more leverage here than people realize. Look, his shortcomings were
fully on display and that loss to the Packers this
past divisional round where let's be honest about it, the
Cowboys came into that game with the best home field advantage,
a best second best home winning streak in franchise history.
(25:19):
They had the best point differential at home last season
and the best turnover differential at home and they completely
you know what, the bed across the board. The problem
for the Cowboys is they don't have a better option.
And I promise you this, if Dak Prescott is on
the open market, fifteen teams will be interested in Dak Prescott.
(25:41):
And this is the Cowboys creation of their problem, of
their own creation. Okay, this began when they decided to
pay Ezekiel Elliott, yep, before they gave their quarterback, which
is which, which was the reason they had to get
rid of Amari Cooper. And go look at go look
at the numbers between Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper. When
they were together, they were clicking, man. They were on
(26:01):
the same page and the same place, on the same
point in the field all the time. But because they
paid Ezekiel Elliott, they couldn't keep Marii Cooper, which meant
they had to get rid of him to give the
money they gave to Deck and was a short term
deal anyway, And now they're in the lather rinse, repeat cycle.
And Jerry Jones said this past season, he's all in
the only thing he was all in and was all
in on not doing anything.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
If I'm the NFL Players Association and by far I
consider the weakest union in the history of America. Probably
the donut making Union is stronger than the nl NFLPA.
You if the owners come and they won an eighteenth
regular season game, I need health care.
Speaker 8 (26:42):
I need guaranteed.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
I need something of significance, not smoking weed, not missing
practice or whatever.
Speaker 8 (26:52):
I mean, how in.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
The world have these players tray not stood up and
said we need health care for the players, you know,
lifetime going forward.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
I mean, I don't understand.
Speaker 15 (27:05):
Well, I think that's a huge one, and I think
that's the one thing that they may be able to
get out of this, because, let's be honest, guys, the
eighteenth game is coming. It's just a matter of when.
Like you, I'm not a fan of it, you know,
I think sixteen is plenty, but I mean people will
watch and they'll make everybody will make more money. Look,
the CBA isn't up till March of twenty thirty one. Okay,
(27:27):
let's just sit on that for a minute. The Collective
Party Agreement is not up till March of twenty thirty.
Speaker 8 (27:32):
It was a terrible deal. Two laws of terrible right,
the handcuffs.
Speaker 15 (27:35):
But it's twenty but it's starting in twenty twenty three,
and now in twenty twenty four. Every chance Roger Goodell
says to speak, what does he say, Well, I think
an eighteen game model is perfect. That's him basically telling
the Players Association, Look, this is happening. We'll concede other things.
He's telling you what's going to happen. This is how
the NFL owners do not care about OTAs, they don't
(27:58):
care about padded practices, they don't care about any of that.
So that is a meaningless fluff right that the NFLPA
will go. They need something more than that, because if
it is eighteen games, it's probably gonna be a second
bye week, which means the super Bowl will be on
President's Weekend, which means Monday will be a national holiday
and everybody can recover, which is actually a great idea.
But you're gonna need a second by week, which means
(28:20):
you're gonna need to cut down on all these OTAs
and all this kind of stuff. Now it'll drive coaches
and scouts and play a personnel guys and general managers crazy.
But the owners don't care about that. They're not making
money during odas. It's like the last strike from you
remember this in twenty eleven. They shut down everything while
we're losing You, No, you weren't. You had all your money,
(28:42):
They weren't losing money, nothing was going on. You were
saving money by doing that. You saved money by not
signing street free agents and having these undrafted rookies come
in and sign on this if they made money, they
made it sound like they were losing money when they
were making money.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
Yeah, you're absolutely right.
Speaker 10 (28:58):
And I was talking to Robert earlier in the show
and we talked about this eighteenth game. For me, it's
paramount for the NFL p PA to the number one thing.
If you want to even broach the subject of adding
a number another game in eighteen, then lifetime healthcare for
all VESTA players has to be the first thing we're
(29:20):
talking about that way. If you're not going to if
we're not talking about that, thenness, you can go home,
take that eighteen game and you can go ahead put
it wherever you want to put it.
Speaker 15 (29:29):
Yeah, Well, I mean Roger Goodell in his contract, that's
lifetime healthcare rights.
Speaker 5 (29:36):
For him and his family. Didn't play it down.
Speaker 15 (29:38):
He left played a long time ago in like what
eighth grade whatever, but it would have been very good.
Speaker 8 (29:46):
But it's the point is, yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 15 (29:48):
My point is that he's got lifetime health insurance. We
need to come to the table and be honest about
what guys need because it all runs out five.
Speaker 10 (29:56):
Years, brother and it and it is a wall you
run into. Trust me, I've hit that wall.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
So if you play, if you played three years tray right,
three and that three years, so you're twenty five, and
then five years later you're thirty and now your healthcare
is up. Do you need healthcare at thirty or fifty five?
Speaker 15 (30:13):
Correct? Exactly right? You need it when you need it, right,
And to be fair, to be fair, I think it's
a huge problem in this country, let alone in the NFL.
I mean, like you know, a lot of people's lives
are cut short because they can't afford absolutely, and that's ridiculous.
We should have health care for everybody in this country.
That's just my personal opinion.
Speaker 8 (30:31):
No, you're one undred right, in the richest country in
the world.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
Why there's no reason, just because people don't want you
to have it. Alida agreed, you got you got ten
year old, twelve year old kids never been to a
doctor or a dead member.
Speaker 15 (30:45):
How Trey how agree It's it's ridiculous.
Speaker 8 (30:49):
No doubt.

Speaker 8 (32:16):
He from Kevin Durant.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
They're saying, he you know, he's heard, he's not gonna
play in the opener or what Kevin Durant get on
a plane to go home?
Speaker 8 (32:25):
I mean, like, what what are we doing here, Kevin Durant,
he's already, rob G? Does he have three Gold Model medals?
Speaker 10 (32:32):
Kevin Durant's three one of the best between him and
Carmelo Anthony, who Carmelo Anthony is the greatest Olympic basketball
player ever.
Speaker 5 (32:44):
But KD is in that vein.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Rob G, give us the details because he should be
on the plane back home.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
So Kevin Durant injured his calf back in June. He
told reporters that Team USA in Vegas that his plan
was to play at the exhibition games in Abu Da
that did not happen. Then the report was, well, he's
gonna play this past weekend against either the South Sudan
or Germany in Paris or in London. That didn't happen.
And now ESPN's Brian Winhorse is reporting that they're hopeful
(33:15):
he'll be able to play on Sunday in the Olympic
the official Olympic Games against Serbia. However, Steve kurtr would
like to see him scrimmage and practice first before that happens.
And given the way the schedule maps out between travel
and Olympic introductions and that whole parade and everything, it's
unlikely they're gonna actually have a scrimmage between now and then. So,
(33:37):
according to Windhorse, unlikely he plays on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
Either he's been through enough, he's got hurt, But why
he's making a gazillion dollars to Paris or none?
Speaker 10 (33:50):
Like going to Paris on somebody else's time. I don't
care how much money you got. Tell me right now,
did were going to Paris? And you we can do
whatever you want over there.
Speaker 8 (34:01):
No, I kill.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Me, But all that money he's got, and the idea
if I'm the owner of the Phoenix Suns. I mean, dude,
can I can I get my guy back? Is my
season gonna be go up in smoke? Like like this
season if this guy winds up playing and gets hurt
in in an in an exhibition.
Speaker 8 (34:21):
In the Olympics, you know you're right about that.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
But you know what I'm saying, I get you right, Like.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Like if I'm the owner of a team, I'm like,
you're not one hundred percent, You're not good.
Speaker 10 (34:31):
You got you got go home home and and look,
we know what happened the last time he had a
calf string.
Speaker 5 (34:37):
We know what that turned into. So there there, there's
also that.
Speaker 10 (34:42):
So what you want to do is, look, I mean,
why Jalen Brown's not on the team. I know you
know that, Yeah, but to me, that's crazy. That's that
doesn't make any sense to me. So I, you know,
send KD home and and bring Jalen Brown out there
(35:05):
a real dog.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
It's it's just mind boggling that he would even entertain
it on Why these guys with injury problems and Joel
mb coming off of injury as well. Bare Its just
I don't get it, especially for a god who's got
three gold battles like, like, you're not. I understand why
(35:28):
Kawhi was trying to get there. He'd never been a
part of that right in his career. He was trying.
Speaker 8 (35:33):
But even he pulled out there.
Speaker 10 (35:35):
Because he can't do it, can't do it. And the
Clippers are like, look here, man. They can say that
they were mad, but the fact of the matter is
he hasn't been healthy for them, So why would you
let him go run himself in the ground before?
Speaker 3 (35:48):
Can you imagine that happening? And George already left and
you got the brand new building.
Speaker 10 (35:54):
You don't even have Westbrook you so you're basic essentially
opening the building with Johns Harden, Right, good luck with that.
Speaker 5 (36:06):
I hate the Clippers anyway, so I understand it's.
Speaker 8 (36:08):
Deep rooted you. And you know, whenever I mentioned the Clippers,
they you know.
Speaker 5 (36:13):
The phonies many but they don't have anything to show
for it. Is that.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Okay, we're gonna go to the new building. You can
take What do you mean you're not gonna go check
it out? You'll never go there, don't you say?
Speaker 5 (36:24):
For a concert? I think Usher is there in September.
Speaker 8 (36:26):
I'm talking about to see you, to see Usher.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
Really, hey, don't let it on stage that we from
She used to stay strong, brother, don't you you've seen
the videos online.
Speaker 5 (36:36):
She was on tour, on stage.
Speaker 8 (36:38):
She was on tour. I don't know your wife is
a dancer.
Speaker 10 (36:41):
Yeah, but for the new she we've already done it.
Speaker 5 (36:47):
We've already gone on stage. We've already know we do it.
That's what I'm saying. But don't do it.
Speaker 10 (36:52):
But as we were doing the show, he looked down.
It was like, oh snap, and so we went yeah.
Then we went to look deep in the street.
Speaker 8 (37:00):
Let it go on stage.
Speaker 10 (37:01):
First of all, there's a respect level. I've known Usher
when I played as in Atlanta. So what we're talking
you do?
Speaker 5 (37:09):
You do know? I'm just not a radio person, right.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
Just because you're seven feet you're.
Speaker 5 (37:16):
Forgetting was going on over there.
Speaker 10 (37:18):
I know, I know I've been in the business for
a long time, but you better check my pedigree.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
Player. Come on, man.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
But the bad thing is when I was dating somebody
who was a dancer, everywhere we went they threw singles.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
Yeah I was dancing.
Speaker 8 (37:35):
You were the Magic City dancers.
Speaker 5 (37:37):
That's why, well.
Speaker 8 (37:40):
Wrong with Magic City.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
That's a great establishment show, no doubt about it all,
appreciate you think than Fox Sports Radio
