Let's give this putties.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (00:30):
It is The Odd Couple. I'm Chris, He's Rob. We're
live from the tire rag dot com studios. Tire rag
dot com will help you get there. They've got an
unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free row hazard protection and
more than ten thousand recommend it installers. Tire rag dot
(00:51):
com is the way tirebind should be. Bottom of the hour,
Eddie House will join us NBA Champion of course an
analysts a game analyst for NBC Sports Boston as well,
So we will have fun talking with our man E
(01:11):
House at the bottom of this hour again, though in
between time we will go to football and again talking
about quarterbacks and Rob the Dolphins of course, And this
was last time I was on the air, Tua had
(01:31):
not been signed and the Dolphins gave me what a
four year, two hundred and twelve million dollar contract extension, and.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Jordan Love.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
Received a four year, two hundred and twenty million dollar
extension from the Green Bay Packers.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
I didn't hear your thoughts on these, so what are.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
They It's just they have no choice, as I said,
and I'm not send these guys on very good player
and aren't worth it. And it's just the way the
NFL set up. I mean, I know we had talked
about tour and you said if you were the Dolphins,
you would wait, and you thought they were gonna wait
because they had taken so long to get it done,
And of course they still wind up paying them big time.
(02:15):
And they've been looking for a quarterback for twenty five years.
The twenty five guys, including two of Chris have started
at quarterback for the Dolphins since Dan Marino left retired,
which is just a crazy number, twenty five. It's hard
to find a quarterback, so unless you have a viable option,
(02:36):
which most teams don't, because half the league would probably
move off of their current quarterback if there was somebody
better available, right would move off of them. So when
you have guys like this who have put up numbers
and we talk about all the time. The price only
goes up, Chris, it doesn't go down. And I'm not
(02:57):
saying that you're automatically going to be the highest paid
quarterback ever, you know what I mean in that sense,
But the amount of money, because this is a quarterback league.
They've refused to pay running backs. They got to pay somebody,
so they're paying the guy who's throwing the ball all
the time now, and so I'm not surprised at either
(03:19):
same thing. Packers could have gotten a deal on Jordan Love,
signing him before the season, Chris, he was there for
three years.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
He got first year.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
They wanted to make sure they wanted to see and
maybe after the first half they might.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Have thought that they gotta were stupid to do it.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
But then he has the second half and he wins
a playoff game, So they probably could have saved themselves
some money, but they didn't feel comfortable at that time,
so you got to pay that. I think Jordan Love
would would get two hundred and twenty million dollars. No,
I didn't, but that's where we are in this game.
Same thing with Trevor Lawrence. Based on what you know, what, Chris,
(03:54):
based on what is the question I would ask you
to pay. Trevor Lawrence. He took us step back last year.
To me, he didn't play as well.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
I would have waited now Jordan Love, I'm fine paying.
I you know, I like Jordan Love going into last season.
Obviously he started slowly, but then once he got rolling,
he rolled uh and played well in the playoff game
obviously when they beat Dallas.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
I've seen enough. I'm not saying he's definitely gonna be
a superstar, but I just feel.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
More confident in his in him as a player than
I do Tua and and And to be honest, also
Love said I'm not playing unless I get my deal.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Uh and Tua.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
I don't think was would have held out. Love may
have indeed held out Tua. As I said all along, Ride,
I would not have paid yet I need.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
To see more.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
He's only been healthy one full season out of or.
I still have some questions also about his game. I
you know, obviously he put up numbers, there's no and
he put up numbers two years ago as well. He
got hurt and only played thirteen games. But until he
got hurt, he was really playing well and put up numbers.
(05:18):
But watching him out of you know, arm strength is
not the greatest, but you know, there are a lot
of quarterbacks who are really great quarterbacks who don't have.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
The strongest arm.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
But he's smaller, not really mobile, not that athletic, not
great off schedule. And you know, we used to talk
about this with Dak. He hasn't played well against good teams.
Toua last year was one in six against playoff teams.
And it wasn't just that they didn't win, it was
(05:51):
that his production plummeted, I mean plummeted. He doesn't play
well in cold weather. He's oh and sick when it's
forty five degrees or less. So I would if I
were running the Dolphins, I would have wanted to see
him one more year.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
First of all, stay healthy this year and play great.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
And I'm of the mindset, you're right, right, If he
goes out this year and does that healthy, plays really well,
maybe you know, beats a few good teams, plays well
against I'm a better competition, then this will end up
being you know, at the end of the day, this
will be somewhat of a bargain for them.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
So I get that.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
But if I were running a team, I would be
willing if if I was uncertain about a guy, then
I would be willing to pay a little more to
have that certainty. So you're right, if they waited and
didn't pay him this year and he bought out, the
price would go up. I would be willing to pay
(06:57):
that price if I were the owner of the team.
Said that with Trevor Lawrence. I definitely am saying it
with Tua, So, you know, good for him. I'm glad
he got it because we know, you know, the injuries
are a concern, and it's not just injury, right, it's concussions,
you know, and he's had a few, and so an
(07:20):
issue well obviously health him. I mean, if he got
hurt last year, wouldn't be getting this.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Just that he stayed wealthy all year like that could
have been.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
But that's not a lot to me in four years.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
I'm just I just think, yeah, I get that, but
but I just think coming off of that, like if
he would have had a concussion last year, I think
they would have pumped the brakes and they wouldn't have
done it. But he was able to stay healthy, and
I think that's where you're a franchise. Chris looking for
a quarterback and you really want to start all over weset.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
Well, you see, I don't think with him they would
have had to start it like they could have e
the league.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
You know, he's in his fifth year.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
They could have let him play this out and I
think you want to know obviously after this year, but
you still have two franchise tags if you want it,
you know. So I just don't think there was a
need for them to rush, uh, And that's what they did.
But look, you know, they've got the best ride receivers
(08:24):
in the league, the best tandem, they've got great running backs,
they've got a great offensive.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Mind, and Mike McDaniel running the show.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
To a he said it himself. Rob Heavy is the
crown and he's wearing it. He said, he's the highest
paid employee in the organization. It's up to him to
go out and get it done.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
And I like to it.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
We'll see if he can go out and get it done.
But I just I would have waited personally.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Yeah, I don't have an issue. I just it's just
this is the NFL we're in and quarterbacks are a
premium and if you don't have a quarterback, it just feels, Chris,
like you're out of it, and and and and you
want to make the guy happy. There's a degree of
that as well. Uh, you don't want to disgruntle guy.
You see everybody else around the league getting paid, you know,
(09:18):
and and and and that's what happens, and and so
and and the money and the size of the contracts
and all of that. I mean he went to it
went to twelve, and then uh a day later or
whatever it was. It felt like a day later or
a few hours later. Then Jordan Love is two twenty,
you know, like and and it just keeps going up
(09:39):
and up and up.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
What do you think the future is for Love?
Speaker 1 (09:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
I still would have to see more. I think he's
a good quarterback. Uh, the first half one?
Speaker 3 (09:51):
So you would have you would have paid him?
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Yeah, I would have paid him.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
I would have paid him at the beginning of that
of the last season for less money I would have
I would have paid I would have paid him only
from this standpoint, Chris, they watched him for three years
in practice.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
They know what his work ethic is. Not like being
in a game.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
And I give you that, but you have a feel
but you have a feel for for what it is
the guy did. Because if you remember, I think they
paid Aaron Rodgers during his first year, like he was
there for three and a half whatever three years, Chris
sitting there. They gave him a contract during the season,
like they they saw him playing. We're like, we gotta
(10:33):
sign a guy we just got. We're not gonna wait
till the off season. We're giving this guy a contract,
do you know what I mean? Like they gave him
a contract during the season of his first year because
he was that good and special. But they watched him
for three years. That's the part that always why I
questioned how good Jordan Love was, because you're watching the guy, Chris,
(10:54):
and you know, in football you practice more than you play.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
You practice and.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Like they used to.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
But feel, guys, what I'm saying like, if he has
good work aff you get a fields.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
But that doesn't mean you're gonna go out there and
play well in games. But he did, like I Rob
and you know I said this on the show, the
difference in him earlier in his career and the little
spot minutes he got and two years ago and it
wasn't a lot. I think it was a game against Philadelphia.
It was noticeable in his the way he carried himself,
(11:31):
the confidence he played with, the swagger, the decision making.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
He just he learned a lot.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
And Rob, to be honest, I think that's the ideal
situation for most quarterbacks, most young quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers,
like Jordan Love, heck even like Patrick Mahomes who sat
behind the guy and learned mostly.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
And I get it.
Speaker 5 (11:58):
Teams are like, hey, we want to maximize the rookie deal.
When we're not paying the quarterback a lot, we can
pay other players a lot and have a chance to win.
I get that, But I think Rob, a lot of
these quarterbacks would be better served if they did learn
under the feet at the feet of a veteran. And
you just see the growth in Jordan Love and so
(12:22):
I think he's going to be very good. I think
he could has a chance to be an elite quarterback. Obviously,
it's just a small sample size, so you can't be
totally sure. But from what I see, I really like
him and Rob. I think, look, Matt Lafleur is a
very good offensive mind. That's a young team. I think
(12:44):
defensively they're gonna be a little they're gonna be better
this year. He's got weapons in the receivers and Josh
Jacobs in the backfield, like I think they. I'm not
just a about this year, but going forward, he's got
a really good chance to win a super Bowl at
some point. Rop because my home's not gonna win all
of them. At some point, He's got a chance to
(13:05):
win a Super Bowl, I really believe. Yeah, there's just
so many quarterbacks. It's hard to do.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
It's just it ain't as easy as people think they
really because a lot of stuff has to go your way.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Things have to happen, uh, and you could be really good.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Dann Marino, come, we never watch I've watched Dann Marino
that second year, Chris and I thought, oh my god.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
And he went to the Super Bowl second year.
Speaker 6 (13:30):
Right.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
If you would have told me you would have never
gone back, I would at that time. No way, no way,
I agree with you.

I agree with.

Thank you, brother.
Speaker 8 (15:45):
I won't hold y'all too long.
Speaker 9 (15:47):
But here's my thing with.
Speaker 6 (15:48):
The whole tool situation.
Speaker 8 (15:50):
I'm like, I have to fall on Rob's side because
at the end of the day, where do you go
without a quarterback?
Speaker 6 (15:57):
You know, how much do you have?
Speaker 8 (15:59):
How much do you have to see?
Speaker 9 (16:00):
How much you do? I mean, you know there's been.
Speaker 8 (16:03):
Quarterback peas no ask Carolina what it's like to not
have a quarterback?
Speaker 9 (16:09):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 8 (16:10):
Or you know the Seattle since even though Genal Smith
had a decent year, but they're still looking for one.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
I get you, but they wouldn't they would have had
a quarterback. It's not like Tua wouldn't have been there.
They still had his fifth year and they still had
the franchise tags available after that. I just wanted to
see more. I just haven't seen enough. And it differs
with different players, right, some guy, I mean c J. Stroud,
(16:39):
I mean I even want to see more from him.
But obviously he was terrific last year, best rookie season ever.
But you know, I just haven't personally seen enough of
Tua for me to feel comfortable giving him fifty plus
million a year.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
All right, thanks for the call. Appreciate it, Vic and
Los Angeles. You're in the cup Fox sportsuating. What's up, Vig?
Speaker 6 (17:02):
Hey, what do you do?
Speaker 9 (17:02):
Fellas?
Speaker 6 (17:03):
How y'all doing today?
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Doing great?
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Brother?
Speaker 6 (17:05):
Okay, man, I really I'm gonna tell you a quick
little quarterback take. But to Tatum, have something about the
Tatum situation that nobody touched upon the thing with these
young quarterbacks says killing me is how fast?
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Wait Tatum? Who I thought you was talking about? Jason Tatum?
Speaker 6 (17:22):
Yeah? No, no, I believe don't. That's probably really wouldn't
really want to touch on the whole Tatum thing is
kind of simple that nobody's really thinking about. It's like
when you get to that that USA practice and you
got all the alphas in there, and you're supposed to
be an alpha. That's what the air quotations to kind
of clench up, you know, your butt cheeks get tight,
all right?
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Is that? I don't know he said something untold. I mean,
I don't know, Rob Dad. I haven't seen Rob g.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
I haven't seen stories that Tatum was getting against practice,
I mean.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Exhibition game, and it's a game in all of the
other games, right, I.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
Get it if in practice somebody was really getting out played,
but I didn't see any of that, at least I
know reports about that.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
And he looked fine in the you know, in the exhibition.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
MJ and New Orleans joined the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up?
Speaker 9 (18:14):
MJ's going on?
Speaker 3 (18:17):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (18:18):
Man?
Speaker 10 (18:19):
That's a rib and GM plus Chris over that. I
totally agree, damn And as early as possible, the organization
doesn't know what they have, pick up the dikes, bawl
them again. Obviously, it's not about who's the best. It's
like you guys are talking about a little bit before
with Pat Mahomes NFL players are still being paid by position.
Speaker 9 (18:43):
It is what it is.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Yeah, I mean they do.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
They pay the quarterbacks because of where we are, and
we noticed, Chris, because it was wrong with the running backs.
They had decided that they weren't going to pay those
guys anymore. And they've overdone it with the quarterbacks. Would
you agree with that like they've they've overcopy sate the quarterbacks.
Speaker 10 (19:03):
No, anytime. I don't really want to, you know, pocket watch,
but there are certain quarterbacks out there that you know
aren't worth forty million.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Daniel Jones, who is worth fifty million with you?
Speaker 2 (19:17):
When Daniel Jones got forty five, Chris, we already knew.
I mean, Daniel Jones, you two us were definitely worth
this to you.
Speaker 6 (19:25):
M j.
Speaker 10 (19:27):
Yes, Jim, Well, they should have paid him early in
the cycle and they should have already been low. We're
gonna take heavy after that third season. Yes, because it's
not that it's not that the this person is worked
this so that it's one it's your time, No, I.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
Mean, it's about it is about are you certain that
he's your franchise quarterback going forward?
Speaker 3 (19:47):
If you are cool pay him, I'm not. I haven't
seen enough.
Speaker 10 (19:51):
To be certain, Jim Chris, if they don't know what
they have, Like I said, pick up the dice.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
Why hey, I ain't picked up the dice. I want
to be sure, at least as sure as I can be.
Speaker 10 (20:04):
Chris, Chris, we're saying no, I'm fifty six. I believe
you're fifty five getting ready to make As long as
you even watching football, you're never sure. Just like you
guys just said up.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
I mean, but I'm gonna stop it. These dudes get
paid to evaluate players. Of course, nothing's one hundred percent,
but there are degrees of certainty.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Don't don't act like there ain't degrees of certainty. Stop it?
Speaker 6 (20:28):
All right?
Speaker 3 (20:28):
We got Eddie House around the corner.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 5 (20:42):
All right, We're live from the Tirerack dot com studios,
and our next guest is an NBA champion three point sharpshooter,
NBC Sports Boston analyst, Fox Sports Radio, NBA and list
and Emmy Award winning broadcaster are Man Eddie House.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
What up the house?
Speaker 9 (21:08):
Yo? Yo? What's happening. I'm great, man. How you guys feeling.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
We're good man, We're good.
Speaker 9 (21:15):
Now.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
Look, we and everybody that listens to our show regularly
knows you are a Celtics homer. So as you watched
Jason Tatum sit on the bench for the entirety of
yesterday's game, what thoughts were going through your mind?
Speaker 10 (21:32):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (21:33):
I had a million of them, but I'm gonna keep it.
I'm gonna keep it censored. And so what I was
it was the divide and conquered tactic. I felt like,
it's like, oh, we're gonna play everybody else. You the
best player, one of the best players on the team.
You won a one B. However you want to do
it between him and Brown, but you got two of
(21:55):
the other guys getting all the minutes and you don't
get know, Oh that's a divide and concer tactic.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
Oh.
Speaker 9 (22:02):
I didn't like it. I didn't like it at all,
because that's the only way they gonna stop this wave
that we got coming.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
I was wondering ear about that, right, and I think,
I mean, it's just odd because the thing is Tatum
can play defense like and I'm fine, I get it.
White and Drew that's their specialty, their role players, but it.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Was it was definitely odd.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
I mean, do you think this will just motivate and inspire?
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Now, maybe maybe Jason.
Speaker 5 (22:36):
Will play twenty minutes a game going forward, who knows.
But do you think overall the slights to Jalen at
least so far a slight to Jason, that this is
just gonna motivate the Celtics or could it?
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Could there be some dissension, ain't gonna be.
Speaker 9 (22:53):
It's no dissension because those guys are locked in with
one another. But I see the tactic is the one
the attack that they could try to That's the only
way that you can try to break up what they
got going on. Okay number one, because this is the
reason why. Right so, Jason Tatum being one of the best,
he don't get the MVP. Well, Jalen Brown play better
(23:15):
throughout the whole playoffs, so we get we understand that
do holiday big time addition to the team and showed
up in big time moments. Same thing with Derek White.
The narrative that they're trying to create is making Jason
Tatum feel some kind of way for those two guys
playing before him and j t ain't that guy though,
(23:38):
So at the end of the day, I think all
he's going to do is motivate him. So I expect
a big game from him when his minutes, when he
gets caught, when his number get caught, I think he's
gonna show up in a big way. Eddie.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Why couldn't Steve Kerr go to him even at the
end of the game and say, hey, you know, do
you do you want to go in or you know,
or get them four or five minutes and still let
him get his feet wet or whatever it is. Would
that have been like something wrong for him to ask
him to go in disrespectful So he can't even ask
(24:13):
him whether he wants to go.
Speaker 9 (24:14):
No, it's disrespectful. Think about this. They can Tatum been
an All NBA player for three straight years, and so
we asking somebody that's an All NBA player. He's on
a team full of All NBA players, but he's been
the first team, right, So now you got other guys
that ain't even first team, second team or third team
(24:36):
that's getting Okay, Yeah, that's kind of disrespectful, But at
the same time, sometimes you got to eat some humble
pie and It's not about him having to be humble.
It's just like, oh, this is how they doing me.
Okay cool. If they did call his number, I'm quite
sure he would win in And that's on Steve Curve
not to call his number. But I know, I know
(24:56):
the tactics. Man, It's all it is is the divide.
And man, I'm telling you, they trying to cause the
vision because we are the only team that's coming back
fall after winning the championship in a long time. And
so what they trying to do is trying to figure
out a way they could dissect us, wiggle their way
in and try to have some kind of action and Winter. Well,
(25:18):
the Warriors don't got it, so Steve Kerr might as
well put that to the side. So the Warriors ain't
got no action for that. And I mean, Steph, I
love him, but that's it, you know. I mean, after
you talk about Steph, the Warriors ain't got nothing else coming,
are you.
Speaker 5 (25:34):
I'm just gonna keep it real, Eddie. I've not been
impressed by Joe lmb it at all in these Olympics,
are you feeling. Look, the dude is a great player
in the NBA, but I don't know, it just feels
like when the lights are brightest. I mean, he just
isn't the same guy he is during the you know,
(25:55):
the bulk of the eighty two games.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Where are you at on NB because he's to me, he's.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
Been the most disappointed individual player he's in the I
would say this, and I said this on the cart
And show.
Speaker 9 (26:11):
Last week or the week before, and I don't remember
when I said it, but I said it, and y'all
can pull that up. I said, he in the way
Joel speed is in the way of what As soon
as he get out the game, it looked like the
pace pickup defense's activity is better. They getting deflections, they
switch in, they playing harder, moving fast, the balls popping
(26:33):
around when he out there is just like doomom. I'm like,
come on, man, you know what. And at the end
of the day, I think he is a great NBA
basketball player. But in this game, the international game, where
the floor is shrunks, where it's dictated on ball movement,
(26:55):
body movement, being able to switch and guard multiple he's
not great for this. But in the NBA, he's gonna
go out there and get you thirty points a game.
If you played through them and allow that to happen.
But to me, not a difference maker out here. And
I just feel like we could have used another roster spot,
you know, we didn't need we didn't need him, you know,
(27:17):
we did not need him. We could to use somebody
else at that particular with that particular roster spot that
could have actually helped this scene in a different way.
I just feel like he bobs us down and he's
in the way. I mean, I'm not gonna get off
of that. I see what I'm seeing.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
But he's not going to stop them from winning a championship.
I mean gold medal.
Speaker 9 (27:36):
Well, yeah, no, he can't. He can't stop. You can't
stop the inevitable sometimes, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
And you don't doubt at all that they promised him
something to pick the United States. He could have played
for three different countries, right.
Speaker 9 (27:49):
So, I mean France, You think France was like, nah,
we got Joel, Not we have Joel, we have go
Bear and we'll have Wemby. Nah, we ain't gonna be
to get it done with that. And then okay, who
else he was gonna play for after that?
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Cameon?
Speaker 9 (28:05):
Maroon? Right, Yeah, I may come on stop it.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
Well, speaking of Cameroon, what did you see the South
Sudan game?
Speaker 9 (28:13):
I did. I watched every game. I watched every game,
every minute of every every second, every game.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
When they they're gonna play Wednesday, you think it's gonna
be a blowout for Team USA or that this is
actually gonna be another close game.
Speaker 9 (28:27):
I think it's gonna be a big foot in the
ass for South Sudan. I'm gonna tell you this why
because it was a tight game. No, I'm saying The
reason why I say that is because I really believe
that when you go into certain games just like, hey,
we're gonna show up in and we're gonna do what
we do just cauld we show you know what. It
(28:48):
was an exhibition. It really wasn't all the marbles out there.
And with this it's a different the stakes are different
and you actually seen like, oh, okay, that's how y'all right,
I got y'all. Now, you got to think that all
of these greatest of the players that are on the
USA team, the greatest of the players in the world,
(29:09):
felt that and heard all that, and they gonna they
gonna make a statement. So I don't expect it to be.
I think we win by double figures easily.
Speaker 5 (29:17):
They're favored by something like twenty seven or something like that. Okay, well,
you know a tall you know it matters how much
you win by in.
Speaker 9 (29:25):
That first No, I do understand that it doesn't matter.
But at the end of the day, they gonna win
that game and they should blow them out. I way,
double figure, I said, I said, double figures.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Uh uh. Let me ask you.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
In an Olympic play, do you enjoy the games if
they're you know, not competitive or you just they are
what they are?
Speaker 1 (29:45):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (29:46):
The other some of the countries just aren't up to par,
so they're gonna be blowouts and you just take what
do you take from them?
Speaker 6 (29:52):
On?
Speaker 1 (29:52):
How do you watch games like that?
Speaker 9 (29:54):
As long as USA is winning by big blow ups,
I'm cool with it. I like watching close games and
I'm don't care who wins those games. But as long
as the United States is out there blowing everything out
and winning, and even if they don't blow it out
and they have a tight battle and they still win,
that's all that matters, is about the United States winning.
(30:14):
Because I'm tired of hearing all of this that the
world is catching up because it sounds good. It really does.
It sounds good. Yeah, and that's the reason why the
NBA globalized and went out and did the great job
that they did to need the globalizing and give these
kids and people opportunities from other countries to be able
(30:35):
to play in the league, right and change their family
trajectory of what they're doing as far as you know,
monetarily and things like that. But we're still on top.
And I just I feel like everybody keeps forgetting that
because I'm forgetting.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
I thought France was on the top of the FO
I thought was well.
Speaker 5 (30:57):
I mean, I think we got as a whole, Like
if the top fifty players in the world, the majority
of them by far are American, But I don't think
we have the like best three or four players in
the world.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
I think they're from other countries.
Speaker 9 (31:15):
Yeah, So okay, whoa whoa, whoa whoa what a time
out and Lucas who.
Speaker 5 (31:23):
Jokis, Jiannis and Luca I think are the best players
in the world.
Speaker 9 (31:26):
Jokis, Jannis and Lucas. Lucas never won a championship, right.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
But at this point I think they're the best, Like, right,
now I get it historically, I'm not saying they are,
but right now.
Speaker 9 (31:40):
So so you think those are the top three players
in the NBA right now?
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Yep?
Speaker 9 (31:46):
Oh, oh Christmas, I think Lebron.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
So you think Lebron is still at time?
Speaker 9 (31:52):
You need to bring me on one of these we
got to talk about we.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Have longer will do will do you think the top three?
Speaker 9 (32:01):
I'm thinking Lebron is showing that he is still top.
I think Steph Berry is still top. Youah, Lebron got.
Speaker 5 (32:08):
Anthony Davis with him during the regular seasons.
Speaker 9 (32:12):
And we talk about Davis being hurt all the time.
Speaker 5 (32:15):
He wasn't hurt this past year. And I just think,
do you don't think Eddie and Lebron? Lebron is playing great.
He has been the best player on Team USA. I think, hell,
but don't you think.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
That a lot of that is obviously you're coming off
a rest.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
You got six games plus what four exhibitions, so it's
six to ten games you're playing. You're only playing twenty
five minutes a game, you can defend, You got better teammates,
so you don't have to carry a team like I
think Lebron like those are all reasons he's shining in
this brief time, but he don't dominate the NBA like
(32:53):
this and like he used to.
Speaker 9 (32:55):
But he was he was balling last year.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
No, he's great still, But I'm just saying, don't think
he's top three.
Speaker 9 (33:01):
Can we shoot out? Can we give a shout out
to Yogis because he looked more in shape right now
than I ever seen him. Look, can we give him
a shout?
Speaker 3 (33:10):
Shout out?
Speaker 1 (33:11):
Yoke?
Speaker 5 (33:12):
You know they were eighty one eighty one when he
played yesterday?
Speaker 9 (33:17):
What does that mean.
Speaker 5 (33:18):
I don't just say that they got our score by
twenty six when he was on the bill.
Speaker 9 (33:23):
What does that mean though he said they was.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
I'm just saying, I mean, well, damn it.
Speaker 9 (33:28):
You know what, Hey, you know what the coach might
need to get fired?
Speaker 3 (33:31):
Hey, we we we gotta run.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
Man.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Look, I'm gonna get you on the longer form and
we gonna go at it.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
We got to all right, brother, that's our man, Eddie
House Peace bad, thank you.
Speaker 3 (33:42):

Are you watching it closely or what?
Speaker 1 (34:30):
No, I'm not. I've never been a big Olympics.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
I watch now when I was younger, Chris, Yeah, I
watched it when we only had four channels.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
I watched it, you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Now you're watching that Golden Girls marathon.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
And then I'll watch the highlights. It just depends on
what it is. You know what I mean that.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
I'm watching something right now. You know I have the
TV on during the show that I don't even know
what this is.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
It's like, is it handball?
Speaker 1 (35:00):
No? No, it's like I see I'm watching it right.
It's on to where they're.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
Denmark.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
There's a goalie and they're throwing the ball at the goal. Yeah,
I don't know what it is. It's it's rob g
you know what. It's like soccer. It looks like you're right,
it's like almost like a smaller soccer field, but it's
indoors like a basketball bat and they're.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Throwing it and they got the three point line but
they're throwing them.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Yeah, what is it?
Speaker 1 (35:26):
You know what? I have no idea. I have noticed
what I'm saying. I'm fascinated by it, Like it's interesting.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
I'm watching it.
Speaker 5 (35:34):
Like to me, it just looks like, why don't you
just go up there and throw the ball in? And
sometimes I wonder is that what people think about basketball?
Why don't you just drive right in and dunk it?
Or you know, but they're just walking up they just
passed the ball around. It's is that entertaining? Is this entertained?
It's like me saying, oh, you're watching that baseball game
right now, there's a big hole right in the left,
why don't they just hit it right right, right, right right.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
To where everyone's at right.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
I know I'm.
Speaker 5 (36:00):
Sounding ignorant, You're right, because yeah, it's not as easy
as it looks but that's what I do like that
about the Olympics, that you know, you get to see
all these sports that really don't get the light of day.
And I and one and I used to love track
and field when I was younger. Carl Lewis and Mike Lewis, oh.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Right, Calvin Smith, like I know, we got Noahlile's.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
I wish track and field got more regular love than
every four years, because I do think track and field
is an exciting sport.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Oh big time, especially for the Olympics, you know.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
Yeah, every four years it's great.
Speaker 5 (36:42):
I just feel like it should get more attention, you know,
than just the four years. It would help their athletes
for sure, because they really don't make a ton of
money unless you're like a usein bolt, you know, or
somebody like that.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
That's huge.
Speaker 5 (36:57):
But yeah, I'm it's hard to know when the stuff's
happening now, you know what I mean. Like it's a
lot to follow, it's a lot to follow. But I'm
into it. I'm into, you know, kind of into it.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Yeah, tonight tonight, I would I mean if I wasn't
working and just that it's on in here, I would.
Speaker 5 (37:16):
Know once the show's over, I'm I'll be done with it,
but I'm just saying for now, it's interesting. I was
watching volleyball earlier and all that. So so rib I
gotta tell you because you know, we had the global
UH outage, power outage right or tech outage laid all
(37:38):
the flights. Well, my family reunion was in the Ozarks
in Missouri.
Speaker 3 (37:43):
We're not from there, but.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
It's nice. It was nice. I've been, so I was
ready to go.
Speaker 5 (37:52):
Saturday morning, my flight got canceled and I told my wife.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
I was like, I'm rolling. You drost it. I drove.
My wife did not want to drive, so her and
her mother, her mother came to it. I know it
was my family.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
They flew on Monday. We were leaving on Saturday, and
I drove seventeen hours.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
You gotta be kidding me.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
I'm a trooper. I'm what you call a trooper.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
You know why myself, I wouldn't have been driving on
I know you wanted to see the family, but I.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
Well, I grew up.
Speaker 5 (38:26):
When I was a kid, we always used to every
summer we drive from Cincinnati to Louisiana to see all
our family in Louisiana. So I'm used to it and
rob back then in the seventies. Oh yeah, my brother
and I tell my kids this, who when we went
on trips, they got movies, you know, the TVs nothing,
but they got Man, you sat in the back seat
(38:48):
and maybe you had some a MFM radio.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
There was no AC.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
There had no AC.
Speaker 5 (38:53):
Are you sitting there looking at each other fighting, you know,
playing alphabet out the window?
Speaker 3 (38:59):
It was crazy.
Speaker 5 (39:00):
But yeah, seventeen hours, man, God bless you.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
That's all.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
I all right. We did our couple that we out
