Speaker 2 (00:24):
Let's get this pun.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
It is the id Couple. I'm Chris. He's Rob.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
We are live from the tireraq dot com studios.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Tyrek dot Com will help you get there.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
They've got an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free row
hazard protection, and more than ten thousand recommended installers. Tirereg
dot Com is the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
In this right here, The Odd Couple is the way
sports talk radio should be.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
It also is a trash Talking Tuesday, and that means
you will get a chance to trash anyone or anything
in the world of sports. Call in in about thirty
five minutes. You'll get thirty to forty seconds to talk
yo talk, So get your takes ready and come correct.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Rob.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
We were talking about the top one hundred list for
the NFL by the NBA. NFL players has been being
posted by NFL dot Com over the next few days,
and they're already down to the top twenty and Brock
Party was rated twenty eighth, which I think is a

(01:43):
great ranking for him if Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Is among the top twenty.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Because there are six really good quarterbacks remaining Lamar Jackson,
Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Dak Prescott and and
who am I missing?

Speaker 2 (02:02):
CJ.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Stroud, So I assume those six will be in it.
The only one I can see maybe not being in
it is Jalen Hurts coming off last season. But even
if Hurts is in it, that means Party was ranked
as the seventh best quarterback.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I think he's in that group.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
I think five to even fourteen or fifteen can vary
from year to year, but he's clearly in that second
tier group. But remember he's only getting paid about nine
hundred thousand, little more than nine hundred thousand dollars this year,
and next summer he'll be up for the.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Big pay day.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
And Rob Diana or Rob g Diana Russini give tell
us what she's reporting. And then also you had some
other news surrounding Party.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
Well, rather than me tell you what Diana Rusini said,
why don't you take a listen to what she said
on her latest podcast on The Athletic with Chase Daniel
about Brock Party and his future salary demands the next offseason.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
He's due for at least at least a fifty.

Speaker 6 (03:10):
Five million dollars a year contract if he plays the
way he played the last two see.

Speaker 7 (03:16):
I agree with you about the fifty five million dollar
number for Rock Party, but we're going to see Dak
Prescott get paid sixty million dollars most likely, right. I
believe Dak Prescott will be the first quarterback to break
it and to get into that sixty number. So you're
telling me Rock Party is not going to come to
the table next year. If he has a successful season,
if they make a deep run to the playoffs, it's

(03:37):
to be it's going to.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Be more wow wow.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
So this is obviously a huge year for Rock Party.
And I'm paraphrasing, but he he was talking with Michael Silver,
one of the great great reporters out in San Francisco
covers the NFL, and.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Party has some serious.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Ambitions for this year, and he told them to Michael Silver,
Here's what he said. Rob, with as good a team
as we have, I want to get to that point
where we get to the third quarter. There's a couple
of drives that are crucial. I'm on top of my stuff.
We convert on third downs and we score touchdowns and

(04:31):
the lead just gets out of hand. It's having that
Tom Brady kind of feeling late in the game. It
always felt like Tom was just going to take over
and not make it close. I feel like I can
get to that. Here's one more thing, Rob. He says,
I want to be dominant, not just win games and

(04:54):
feel like eh, I want to be dominant with consistent
decisions and feel like we're the top dogs every day.
So it was great stuff from him. Here's what I'm
gonna read. One more quote. There were moments last year
in games where I would just I don't know what

(05:15):
it was in the situation, but we be up and
it's all right, be smart with the ball, or let's
just make sure we don't mess up. I want to
break through that and get to this point of just
being dominant for four quarters. Man.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
That's my mindset.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
So Rob, I mean clearly, brock Perdy is like yo,
I want to take over. And I'm not gonna say
he's saying he's gonna be as good as Tom Brady.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
I don't even know that.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
I like everything he said, Rob, except I don't think
you need to bring up Tom Brady because then people
think you're comparing yourself to him, and obviously that's a
heck of a long way to go.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
But here's the interesting thing with Perty.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Because you know, he has been criticized as a system quarterback,
as a paint by numbers guy, as a guy who
you know doesn't have the strongest arm. He's not the
biggest guy, but he can. You know, he makes quick decisions,
smart decisions, and he's fairly accurate, and you know he's

(06:17):
benefiting from all the great talent around him and Kyle
Shanahan's play calling, and Perty it seems to be saying
I want to break out of that. I want to
dominate on my own. And I think Rob he looked
at the way he played in the second half against
Detroit and Green Bay in the playoffs where they're down,

(06:39):
and he was just like, look, I got nothing to lose,
we got a ball, and he played well and they
ended up coming back and winning it. Seems like he
wants to play that way all the time. Here's the rub,
and I like what I heard from him, But he's
been very successful with the mindset he's had, which doesn't
seem to be as aggressive as he's talking and Rob

(07:02):
and I don't know that this is a big deal.
I'm not gonna make a huge deal out of it,
but it's noteworthy. This quote came out two days ago,
I believe two or three days ago, and then the
two practices since then, Rob party through three interceptions yesterday
and four interceptions and five passes today, So I don't know. Again,

(07:26):
I'm not gonna make too big of a deal, but
I think it's noteworthy. Is he trying to go out
there and do too much, prove too much?

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Let me get out of this system and this.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
Shell that everybody thinks I'm in and it's fling it
And he better be careful because not only could it
they not win if he does that, but it could
hurt his pocketbook going.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Forward, no doubt, Churse. It is a very important year.

Speaker 8 (07:54):
If he takes a step back, if he doesn't play
as well, it could mean a lot. I remember us
talking about that game against Lamar Chris uh on Christmas night.
Remember that where I thought, we both thought that the
MVP was on the table right there. Remember that he
was very much in the running. He was on there

(08:15):
was on the table for him. And he had a
bad game. Three picks it could have been five. Remember
I think a couple got dropped, right, it could have
been like a five at least did he have four picks?
So he had four picks Chris in that game could
have been five. And that went out the window there.
And and the problem that he's always going to have

(08:35):
is that other people have had success there before he.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Got there, namely Jimmy garopp right.

Speaker 8 (08:41):
And so when when people look at that there, it's
not like they were down Trod and Chris and they
and and and and my god, he pumped life into
them and he turned that franchise around, and my god,
is he No. That's why he's saying what he said,
because he knows he's still trying to.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Get out of that box.

Speaker 8 (09:04):
Chris, He's in a box, and people aren't going to
take him out of that box. I don't think unless
he really really breaks.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Out of that and wins the super I was gonna say,
if they win the super Bowl. It just plays like
he did last year and they win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
I think that takes him out of it.

Speaker 8 (09:28):
Yes, because I think it does, because the forty nine
ers haven't been able to win a Super Bowl as
good as they've been Chris. And if he's the super
Bowl MVP and it's because of him, it'll you'll be
hard pressed not to finally give the guy the credit.
That's but I think he's I think you're one hundred

(09:49):
percent right.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
He is in a This is a big year.

Speaker 8 (09:53):
If he takes any kind of step back, just any kind, Chris,
he ain't getting no sixty million dollars whatever they want
to talk about, he's gonna get. It just ain't gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
No, I mean, he's gonna be questioned. There's no ifs,
and they're gonna question.

Speaker 8 (10:09):
Kiss After the first half of the Lions game, wasn't
it people at the first half.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
I'm not saying it was all his fault.

Speaker 8 (10:16):
I didn't say it was all his fault, but I'm
just saying, like when they were down and it looked
like they weren't going, people weren't like, oh, he's playing
great anyway, It's holding the d I mean, they were
just not happy. And all I'm saying is until he
gets over that humped, that's always gonna be questioned.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Marks if he can win you a super Bowl, and
it's because of his pedigree, and that's fair.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
I mean, when if he was Rob, if he was
a top ten pick, right, it would be different.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Everybody'd already be sold on it. Right.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
But and look, somebody might say, well, hold on, Tua
was a fifth pick and Chris, you're not sold on him.
But Tua's been.

Speaker 8 (10:57):
Hurt three out of four year to would play in
college lay as well, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
It's a little different, No, no, But I'm just saying, like,
I still have some questions about Tua even though he
was a high pick. But I think parties look better
than Tua. Obviously he's had more success against winning teams
and in the playoffs than to a has. But yeah,
I do think Look, it's it's fair and just understandable.

(11:25):
If you come from a you know, you're the mystery relevant,
the last pick in the draft, and you go to
a team that, to your point, Rob Jimmy Garoppolo has
some success there, then we're going to you know, we're
gonna we're gonna take a little while longer to crown you.
I think he's really good. I think twenty eighth is

(11:45):
a great ranking for him. But I don't rob he's
gonna have to. It's gonna be interesting with him talking about,
you know, going out and being dominant, and if he
does that in it backfires on him. It could really
be a bad decision. So we will see. That's a
very intriguing storyline.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Here, all right, the Jets.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Speaking of intriguing storylines, the Jets, Hello, little brujajas at practice.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
We'll get into that. Next is Chris A. Rod theakable

That's right, daily, every day you can register for a

Fox sports radio dot Com. It's all furnished by tire

lot of people have high hopes for the Jets this year.

(14:21):
I think they if they're healthy. I mean, their roster
on paper is nice, but you know, they gotta stay healthy.
Of course, that was their problem last year with Aaron
Rodgers getting hurt four plays into the season.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
But Rob g kind of explain, if they've had an
active few days here at Jets camp. Yeah, that's putting
it mildly. According to multiple reporters who.

Speaker 5 (14:47):
Are on the scene, the offense has been described as
spotty to put it nicely. Okay, So on Saturday we
all saw there was a little viral exchange between Aaron
Rodgers and Garret Wilson.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Miscommunication.

Speaker 5 (15:00):
Two guys were getting heated on the sidelines. Happens right
in training camp, No big deal, right, Well, on Monday,
Aaron Rodgers threw an interception on the second play of
team activities. He got sacked a handful of times, had
about a half dozen off target snaps from his center
that caused enough to fall on the ball, which you
never want to do in practice a half dozen and

(15:20):
another play as he's taking the snap, he got stepped on.
They couldn't save if it was by the center or
the left guard, and it caused him a trip over. Obviously,
fans were worried given what happened last year, so they said, hey,
Tuesday is a new day. We're gonna get all this corrected.
We're gonna be better. Things were not much better on Tuesday.
ESPN reporter Rich mud Semini. He says that Rogers was

(15:42):
sacked several times again, had his foot stepped on again,
this time by a defensive player, and he closed the
day with four straight in completions. Oh and him and
Garrett Wilson got into another sideline disagreement, this one not
nearly as animated. They squashed after about twenty thirty seconds.
But to say that the performances by the Jets offense
during training GAMP have been uneven would be an understatement.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
That concern you, Rob if you're a Jets fan.

Speaker 8 (16:10):
No, I just I mean the only thing that if
I'm a Jets fan, and we talked about this Chris
last year when the offensive line couldn't protect them.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Remember they had the team.

Speaker 8 (16:22):
We called it like you got an older quarterback and
you're not protecting him and the offensive line and what
happened Chris and two of his first four snaps he
was hurried or pressured and then boom, he got hurt
like we called it. I'm not we did. That would
worry me. That's the only thing I'm worried about. Do

(16:44):
they have enough? Is the offensive line going to protect
a nearly forty year old quarterback?

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Yeah, I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
I'm not worried about the offense looking disjoined. I mean,
that's fine, it's early. The defense should be ahead of
the offense at this point. I'm not saying Aaron Rodgers
is gonna be MVP Aaron Rodgers at forty years old,
coming off in Achilles injury, but I do think he
can be a good quarterback and Rob if they've got.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Good I'm not talking about MVP level Aaron Rodgers. If
they've got good, like above average.

Speaker 8 (17:22):
They won a seven game with terrible quarterbacks, so they
feel like that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
You have a good quarterback, you could win ten games.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
They've had a top five defense, Rob in the last
two years. And that, to your point, is with the
worst generally the worst quarterback play in the league, Zach Wilson.
That means your defense was constantly put in bad situations,
constantly put in bad field position, and got really very

(17:49):
little support from the offense. And yet they won seven games.
They beat Buffalo, they beat Houston. They were games, but
they won, you, right, And so if Rogers can, he's
got talent, right, Garrett Wilson, I mean Mike Williams. And look,
I think Mike Williams is a very good wide receiver

(18:11):
when he's healthy, but dude.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Is never healthy. He's already on the pup list, and
so that concerns.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
But even with Garrett Wilson, with Alan Lazard, and if
Williams ever plays, then you got Breize hall is the
running back. Like, they've got talent, and Rob, they revamped
the old line, but they gotta stay healthy.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Tyron Smith, you know, he's a guy that's had injury issues,
and so.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
You know it's I'm not concerned about the arguments and
going back at each other.

Speaker 9 (18:44):
Rob.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
We've had arguments.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
We still work together obviously and with friends, and I
mean it happens, and you know that can air things
out sometimes. I think a lot of times, Rob, it's
better to air things out.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Then to let stuff just simmer.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
And you know, and you don't say anything, but you're
growing resentful, Chris, every day, right, more and more resentful.

Speaker 8 (19:09):
And we've seen radio shows we don't have to mention
them right where the two hosts don't talk off the
air because they because they hold it in, because they
don't have a blow up. Chris, We've had our blow ups.
We just move on, you know what I'm saying. And
I do think that that's healthy. There's nothing wrong with it.

(19:30):
We're not going to agree on everything. We're not and
it's okay. But the one thing that you that that uh,
you can't do is once you hold it in, it's
like a marriage, Chris, be resentful and you don't want
to see the other person happy and all.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
That's not the way to live. You can't live like that, right, right.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
So Look, I think the Jets, right, I think the Bills,
I think they've taken a step back. I mean they
lost their two best receivers. Who's their number one? K
to Samuel Khalil Shakir. I mean I don't know that
those guys are ready to be number ones. They lost
several defensive not only starters, but leaders, Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
You know, so, I look, I still think they'll be good.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
I think they're a playoff team, but I don't think
they're guaranteed to win the division. Miami, you know they'll
be interested defense. To me, I think offensively they're gonna
they're gonna light up like bad teams. Will they be
able to do that against good teams? We'll see, Like
they to his numbers against playoff teams haven't been weren't

(20:35):
good last year. He's won and six against them. But
I think that's a big concern for them. And then
their defense because like I said, we saw him put
seventy on Denver last year.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
They're gonna have some big days.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
But I rob if the Jets are healthy, they arguments
and all that, I think they got a real shot
to win that division, the AFC East.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Yeah, I do too. I'm out on Buffalo, are you so?

Speaker 8 (21:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (21:08):
You think it's between the Jets and Miami for the division?

Speaker 8 (21:12):
Yeah, I'm just Buffalo. I know they had a nice
finished Chris last year. Whether they won their last six
or whatever when.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
Their last five, well last six including.

Speaker 8 (21:21):
The playofoff came. Yeah, you know what I mean. So
they turned it around and whatnot. But I don't know,
a lot of changes, a lot of stuff happening. I'm
sure they think it's for the best. Sometimes subtraction lessons more. Yeah,
you know what I mean, for them, Maybe they think
that way, but I'd have to see it to believe it.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
Yeah, Josh Allen's numbers weren't great during that five game
stretch through for more than two hundred and forty yards
just once had five touchdowns five picks during that run.
So yeah, it's gonna be interesting to say the least.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
All Right, Levi Weaver is around the corner.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
He writes the wind up for UH, the MLB newsletter
of the Athletic. So we'll talk baseball with Levi Weaver
in a few moments.

next guest writes the wind Up, which is the MLB
newsletter for the athletic.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
We welcome in Levi Weaver to the odd couple. Levi,
how are you?

Speaker 10 (22:34):
I need a nap? Guys? How are you? How are
you doing?

Speaker 9 (22:36):
Man?

Speaker 2 (22:37):
You need a Now? I know what a day? IM busy?

Speaker 10 (22:40):
Yeah, the whole weekend and then today to cap it off.
It's just a lot.

Speaker 8 (22:45):
And I will say Chris Levi has been on the
on my podcast Inside the Parker, so well appreciate that
as well.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
Thank you, Levi?

Speaker 10 (22:53):
Yeah, of course, Well, Levi, you.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Talked about it. The trade deadline of Norse kept you busy.
The Dodgers incredible active.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
What do you feel like they're trying to accomplish at
this den? Lar try to accomplish us to say, and
do you think it will work for them?

Speaker 3 (23:10):
Well?

Speaker 10 (23:11):
I mean the simple answer of what they're trying to
accomplish is to win a World Series. You don't spend
you know, however, many millions, hundreds of millions of dollars
they spent this last offseason and just be satisfied with
winning the division again, right, they needed and they needed
some pieces to help them plow through the playoffs. And
you know, I don't think Kevin Kiermeyer is necessarily that piece,

(23:33):
but Jack Flaherty could be a really nice addition to
a rotation that, if it stays healthy for the rest
of the year, could be pretty good. You know, I
would have loved to have seen them add a little
bit more to the bottom part of their lineup, which
is sluggled a little bit. But they added some defensive versatility.
They've got some ways to mix and match that lineup.

(23:54):
You got to assume that Mukie Betts is going to
be back at some point playing shortstop, and so you
if you just trade for a straight short stop, well
then you know, what do you do with him when
when Bets is back? But they got you know, Tommy
edmund On that Rosario. Both of those guys can play
a lot of different positions. I thought it was a
good rotation for them. I would have loved to have
seen him maybe get one more bomper for the lineup.

(24:15):
But gosh, how perfect can a roster be any right?

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Let me ask you this.

Speaker 8 (24:20):
Chris and I talked about it, and he made the
points which are all legit, that the Dodgers have the
second best record in the National League, the third best
record in baseball, and and you know, they're winning and
they were in.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
The top three.

Speaker 8 (24:36):
But I said to him, they don't feel right to me,
or feel as good as when they started the season.
And I get they've had injuries, but there was a
long stretch where they just played five hundred baseball and
they really weren't that good of a team other than Otani.

Speaker 10 (24:52):
Yeah, is that fair vibes?

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Right?

Speaker 4 (24:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (24:54):
I know, and it's hard to quantify vibes, right, but
but it's true there was a while that they were
they were just they just looked like an okay to
pretty good team, which was not what anybody expected. Right.

Speaker 8 (25:07):
We expected the Beatles this year, didn't we That's what
we expected.

Speaker 10 (25:10):
Exactly, exactly like it. If they'd won one hundred and
fifty games this year, people would have sort of noded
their heads and been like, well, yeah, that's what we expected, right,
And and it hasn't been that. But but they are
still very good. And so maybe it's just a matter
of like finding the middle ground between impossible expectations and
a disappointment. I think somewhere in between, there is a

(25:31):
very good team to have a shot at winning the
World Series and I think that's where they are. It's just,
you know, you're right, the Beatles is a good way
to put it. We expected, we expected the world.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
There was a lot of.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
Talk a few weeks ago about Otani and Aaron Judge
having a chance to win the Triple Crown.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
They're both still alive, but probably neither one of them
will get its batting lead off. So you're right, But
do you think.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
That they are still the front runners in their leagues
for the MVP.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
I mean, obviously there are some.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Stiff competition and Azuna now, I mean he's actually a
triple ground threat himself.

Speaker 10 (26:12):
Yeah, well that's a good question, and I honestly, you know,
I don't want to just be as you guys. I
have not even really begun to look at any sort
of like MVP. I've been so focused on trade deadline
off the top of my head. Like, yeah, I think
they both do have a very good chance with Judges
at what thirty nine home runs. Now, what's really interesting

(26:32):
to me is that, you know, when Otani won the MVP,
of course he was in the American League. Then he
was up there and Judge and a lot of the
voters that I talked to are, like if you go
the way based on their offensive performance, but Otani does both.
He's a pitcher and a hitter, like that is more
value to the team. It's simply more value. And if
it's most Valuable Player, then he gets the vote. Now

(26:55):
he's playing designated hitter, he's not even playing defense at all,
and he still looks fucky by.

Speaker 8 (27:02):
I'm going to say, do you think that'll be There's
never been a d h's won the m v P, So, uh,
is this gonna Is this gonna change?

Speaker 9 (27:12):
It?

Speaker 5 (27:12):
Might?

Speaker 10 (27:13):
It might? I mean it's gosh, yeah, I mean I
think I think he's got a shot. I don't want
to I don't want to put odds on it or anything,
but but yeah, I mean, he's just And the other
thing is, you know, when you want to go back
and go back to our our gen z phrasing of vibes,
like he's just so fun to watch. He is just

(27:33):
one of the one of the most enjoyable players in
the game. And if you have to vote for two guys,
I know it's not most enjoyable player, it's the most
valuable player. But if you've got to pick between two guys,
you're probably going to pick the one that you enjoyed
watching the most. So I think he does have that
working in his favor.

Speaker 8 (27:49):
Hey, let me ask you about jashism. Some Yankee fans, Oh,
too flashy? You know about him and all that. He's
a tremendous player. He had two home runs. Yes today
and today I don't know if you saw. He had
a monster shot off the second deck at Citizens Bank
Ballpark in Philly. Uh, he's come here with a with

(28:10):
a bang to the Yankees. I think it's a great
move by them. Energetic ads, energy, and he's a really
good player.

Speaker 10 (28:18):
I love it. I love and and talk about players
that are enjoyable to watch right and and it's most
of the time. There would be lapses when he was
with the Marlins, and there would be moments where you're like,
come man, what are you what are you doing? But
all of the like, oh he's too flashy, talk like
boo boo to that. You should love having a player
on your team that is so much fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
Yes, he is.

Speaker 10 (28:40):
He is an electric player. And there you know, there
are players that thrive in the big lights.

Speaker 5 (28:45):
You know.

Speaker 10 (28:45):
I live in Texas where I get to see doys Garcia,
and it seems even when the Rangers were not a
great team, like every time he would come to the
plate and it was a close situation, they're down and run,
there's two runners on base, so it's a tight situation.
That's when he would come up big. I know clutch
isn't supposed to be quantifiable, but there are some guys
who've just a knack for it. I don't know if

(29:07):
Jazz Chisholm is one of those guys. I would say
some of the first three games, it looks like it
might be the case. I'm excited to see what he does.
He's certainly not wilted in his first few games as
a Yankee, and I think I think the bottom line
is that if he keeps hitting like this, which you
know he's not going to hit a home run every game,
but if he keeps performing well, Yankees fans are going

(29:28):
to like him. Where they're going to lose their mind
is if he goes through a big slump and then
it'll turn back like, oh, I do it. He's no substance,
all flash, blow whatever. He's good, and I think he's
going to be so much fun to watch in den Strikes.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
The Astros now right there atop the AL West. I mean,
a horrible start to the season, it looked like their
little run.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
These past several years was over.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
But now, I mean, they're playing some of the best
baseball in the league. How dangerous do you think they
will be in if they assumeing they get to the postseason?

Speaker 10 (30:02):
I think they'll be very dangerous. The experience counts for something. No,
I don't think they're as good as they have been
in years past, do you know. I think they're probably
on the back end of the dynasty. But yeah, they're
as tough as anybody. And then the fact is that
they're probably going to make it into the playoffs because
they're playing in a division right now where you know,

(30:23):
their two biggest competitors are the Mariners and the Rangers,
and neither of those teams you've been playing up to
their potential either, I do. I'm sure this is some
homersm playing here. But I think the Rangers have some
guys coming back. Josh Young is healthy now, Jake de
gram is healthy now. They might have a chance to
knock the Astros off. But I do think that there's

(30:43):
enough of that lineup still in place and if here here,
I think is the is the big if if their
pitchers are healthy, because they don't have a whole lot
of pitching depth, and they did try to address this
at the deadline. I think they're way overpaid for Yu
se Kakuchi, but they needed nobody if they've got him.
Verlander from Barbaldezno Blanco has been very good. Even Hunter

(31:04):
Brown has looked really good after a rough start. So
they've got the pieces. If they just make it, they're
gonna have to win the division to do it. But
if they win the division, I think they're very dangerous
in the wayoffs.

Speaker 8 (31:15):
Last thing, quickly, the Angels last year that held on
a show, heyri So and now I were yelling trade,
I mean not re signing with you get something, and
of course he didn't. And then even this year, you know,
they're forty six and sixty going nowhere fast. They probably
should have tried to make some moves or you know,

(31:35):
like restock, get younger players.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
What are they doing?

Speaker 10 (31:39):
Well, they made a couple of trades. They got rid
of two relief relievers. The guy asked that they sent
to the Philly that the return was pretty good. And
then they traded Luis Garcia to the Red Sox. They
got four players, none of those for our guys I'm
particularly excited about. Right, Sometimes you take quantity over quality,

(31:59):
I guess, but I don't think that the Angels are
a particularly well run club. And frankly, the word on
the word on the street, what am I looking like?
The thing that nobody really wants to say out loud
is that Arty Moreno has his thumb on everything that happens.
And so for as long as it already decides, no,

(32:20):
we're going to run it back next year. We're going
to run it back next year. We're going to compete
next year. We're not going to trade Otani because surely
you'll sign with us. Optimism, you know, I mean, I'm
a sucker for an optimist, But there's such a fine
line between optimism and delusion, and I just I mean,
they were not in a position to go for it
last year at the deadline, and they traded for all

(32:41):
those Yeah, they traded for Lucastiulito, they traded for all
these other guys and then ends up having to put
them on waivers so they could get under the luxury
tax thresholds. It's not I don't know that you want
to look to the angels and ask what are they
doing and expect that the answer is going to be
based in a ton of logic.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Right, just so, just so true.

Speaker 1 (33:02):

He was the one hundred meter freestyle world record holder
and when he was asked about the Americans, the freshman said,
we're going to crush the Americans. And he was on
the final leg of that Olympic relay race.

Speaker 9 (36:24):

Speaker 8 (37:50):
Yours any one or anything in the world of sports.
Mine was coach k from earlier. Chris, I just I mean,
if he really wanted to go out and you even
said it, even the way he said it was kind
of couched on longevity. He could have just said, this
dude is the best player who's ever put on the
Team USA uniform. And I'm gonna give you the reasons why.

(38:11):
If you're gonna do that, go for it, Chris, Right, he.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
Just go for soft, soft pedaled. That was a soft shoe.
It was r it was long, jevity and something else.
And he's the all time leading scorer.

Speaker 8 (38:25):
But also when he got the scoring and when money scored, Yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
I mean it was it was it was pretty weak.
Who you trash?

Speaker 8 (38:32):
And Rob?

Speaker 5 (38:33):
I'm trashing Rob Parker and Chris Bussard who made a
joke saying that I should belong behind the production. Oh wow,
I'm gonna remember that next time. Next time that Chris
got internet connections or a subway situation, or Rob Parker
is having issues with his co host, I'd be like, no, man,
I can't jump on you know, because I'm mind the
production glass.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Well, look, every time you step in the arena, rob G,
you do get served. I mean you, you get taken
to the World wood Shed more than any guests on
the odd couple, any of my feelings for Rob, any
of his feelings for me. No, would spent more time
at the woodshed than rob G. That's my trash talk.
