(00:56):
with our man JR. Gamble of email bbro dot com.
If you didn't know, Sean mlb bro covers the ten
black Major League players in baseball.

Speaker 5 (01:09):
There's only ten.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
No, there's more.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
There might be twenty out it's only six percent now right.

Speaker 6 (01:17):
I know it's a way Dominican, like you know, type
type of origins.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
But did you did you play baseball growing up?

Speaker 6 (01:25):
Nah, like real Florida, it's all football and basketball, basketbly
I played both.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Okay, point guard in basketball.

Speaker 6 (01:34):
Kind of a dual guard. I could play the point
order two, just the pins. I played a little bit
of two lane two. A lot of people don't know that.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Oh really, did they recruit you?

Speaker 5 (01:43):
Yeah? One of the reasons I went there.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
So were you you only played one year?

Speaker 5 (01:48):
Yep?

Speaker 6 (01:49):
Were you better in football? Absolutely not. I'd have been
in the NBA if I was better in basketball. That's
every kid's dream.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Okay, so you were better in football, so that's why.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
You Absolutely there's no one that could play in the
NBA in NFL that would choose the NFL.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
No, the obvious answer, Oh no, you're right that you.
I was gonna say Lebron, but yeah, he chose the NBA.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Yeah he chose NBA.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
That's a good I mean, I disagree.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
No, I can't name.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
I don't know who the football player is that could
have played in NBA, but.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
You you might be right.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
I mean, I just think there's probably somebody, But I
would agree that most guys, probably even if they liked
football better, might pick the NBA. But I've heard guys
say they picked football because obviously there are more spots,
so you know you had a better chance.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
But also you get to the bad quicker and for
doing less Oh.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
No, physically. Yeah, it's it's it's a no brainer of
the two. I would agree with that.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
All right, let's go. So you obviously played in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Did they have the top one hundred rankings when you
played it last year?

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Was four?

Speaker 6 (03:07):
I think yeah, not unless it was in something like
obscure magazine that no one knew about. It wasn't like
a topic like when the national platform RL. I don't
even know how you would gauge the accuracy of it,
because you first of all have to put a value
on positions, right, because because your fifteenth rank quarterback is

(03:32):
still better or probably more important to his team than
your third guard on the list.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Right? Well, I'll be honest. And the reason I asked
if you did it when you were a player, because
and Rod we talked about it yesterday with Rob g
I guess the format is that guys picked twenty players
the best twenty players in the list there.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Yeah, but I gotta be honest, I don't think that
would lead up to one hundred players.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
You know, I don't think there's gonna be that many
different There will be some differences, but like I mean,
you got Jared Golf on the list at forty nine.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Is he even named is anybody?

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Is he definitely getting named on everybody's on somebody's list?

Speaker 6 (04:15):
Yeah, based Yeah, I think based off the season he
had last year and then what he did.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
But I'm just I'm just seeing him as an example.
Whoever the guy is ranked sixty.

Speaker 6 (04:24):
First, the quarterbacks will be on the list. I don't
think there's any quarterback that could make the top one
hundred that I don't think somebody actually voted for the
hard point.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
But don't you think they must They can't just be
voting for twenty players. But I can't see players sitting
there voting for one hundred, right, No, no.

Speaker 6 (04:42):
No, But again, you got to think about this, Chris. So,
let's say you're from the Midwest. Let's say you went
to Boise State, but you're drafted into the AFC North,
so you're very familiar with Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati. Your
only crossover NFC com friends though it was the East.
So you didn't play the NFC South, North or West,

(05:06):
that you could not be familiar with players from those
teams that didn't play in the Mountain West Conference that
you competed against at boys.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (05:14):
No, I totally because because would you and I know
there are exceptions, but would you? Is it fair to
say that professional I'd even say professional athletes, not.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Just NBA or NFL players.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
They don't watch the other teams, certainly as much as
the media. You watch them when you got you know,
you study in film and stuff.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
But I'm just for.

Speaker 6 (05:40):
Watching you because the majority of NFL games are played
on Sunday, right you know it's all played.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
You know you're playing at one o'clock or four.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
That's why when you get a chance as an NFL player,
and that's why God's taking so serious specifically Monday and
Sunday night. God's trying to put their best foot forward
because they know that's the one time every probably watching right.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Right now that makes all the sense in the world.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Well, I gotta be honest, Sean, this year's list, in
my opinion, designed oh my gosh, And I'm.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Just really going quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
I think the rest of the stuff is pretty you know,
pretty fine. But the court, so they haven't named the
top ten. Now that's coming tomorrow. But the only two
quarterbacks left are Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. We know
they're both gonna be in the top ten. I'd be
surprised if Lamar is ahead of Patrick. I don't think you.

(06:37):
I know, he won the MVP, but I gotta believe
Patrick Mahomes is not only the number one quarterback but
the number one player. But if we look, I'm gonna
give you the top ten quarterbacks listed. You know, according
to this list, Mahomes, I'll say, is one. Lamar to

(06:58):
Josh Allen is the third quarterback, but he was twelfth overall.
I think he should be in the top ten. He's
a great football player. Jalen Hurts was fifteen, but he's
the fourth quarterback. Dak Prescott was sixteen, fifth quarterback. C. J.
Streud was twentieth, sixth quarterback, Rock Purty twenty eighth. Seventh

(07:19):
quarterback Jordan Love was I believe thirty four, he's eighth
two of was thirty six, so he's ninth, and Joe
Burrow was thirty ninth, so he would be tenth.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff came after them.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
I'm sorry, look, and I like Brock, perty you can't
put him ahead of Joe Burrow.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
I mean I agree, and certainly not Jalen Hurt like
I like Hurts.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
Hurts is too high.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
So this this is crazy to me.

Speaker 6 (07:49):
This happy for Hurts, but he's too hot. Right, I'll
say this, here's my top five, just for context.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
I have Mahomes quarterbacks.

Speaker 6 (07:56):
I have Mahomes one, Josh Allen two, a few Stafford three,
Lamar Jackson four, c J.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
Strout five. Those are my top five right now.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
You now, is Burrow? Are you punishing Borrow? Which is legit?

Speaker 5 (08:12):
I'm not punishing him.

Speaker 6 (08:13):
I just he wasn't playing well before he got ruled
out for the rest of the season, and.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
He come on in the last couple of games.

Speaker 6 (08:20):
But overall, right, so he's coming back from ANDREI already
guy is kind of immobile in a lot of ways. Still,
I think that's a shaky offensive line in Cincinnati. They
let Joe Mixon go because they know they got to
pay Chase and potentially Higgins, and so I don't I'm
not as high on Burrow as I was two years ago,
but I haven't given up on him. I mean, I
still know he's a talented guy. But that's just my

(08:42):
list right now going into the Stafford's the one to
me that highly underrated, well and iffed to flect.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
But why couldn't he lift Detroit any higher?

Speaker 4 (08:54):
I mean, you did have Calvin Johnson, you did have
ing Dominican Sue, you know you you did it. I
get it that it's you need a team, But there
were years they had some really good players and they
just he could never obviously get them.

Speaker 6 (09:10):
And I think the players had I mean you're talking
Calvin Johnson and some of those guys. They had Hall
of Fame caliber careers playing with Stafford. The Lions just
want good enough as a team to make any headway
or leeway in the playoffs. Like that's the thing about
the NFL. It's got the most parody of any professional
league in America. Like you literally not only have to

(09:32):
have the best team, but you have to be fortunate
and lucky in some ways to win championships like what
the Patriots and Belichick Becks were able to do. I
don't think we've ever seen anything close to that. Again,
they got and.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
We're seeing it. We actually might see better.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
They are a long way to go now to get there.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
They got three rings and what for six years with Mata.
They are a long way to go to three rings
in six years or do it? They got a long
way to go still to get to the Brady.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
I mean, but let's say they don't get six, and
they might.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
But if they got five in ten years, which is
very likely or possible, you don't think that's essentially seeing
what we saw from New England because there was a
ten year gap.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
They get the five. If they get the five, I
took my hand to a woman and say, yeah.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
You think they're gonna three pt No, I don't think
they get the five either.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Wow, why not? I'm said serious? I think the quarterback
I just think Mahomes is so good man.

Speaker 6 (10:34):
The quarterback play in that conference is so good. I
don't think their success is sustained. They've gotten by a
couple of times now by the you know that.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
I mean this Chash year was the year. I'm not
saying I think Lamar will get one. But Bert Lamar,
they blew it.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
They really good.

Speaker 5 (10:52):
But these young guys are coming. C J. Stroud is good.
The Texans are good.

Speaker 6 (10:56):
Texas about to be a problem if goldielocks down there
in Jacksonville, Triple Lawrence ever figures it out. They got
good pieces around him. Like it's some young guys I
think did Chargers going Steelers Herbert Herbert Herbert and Harball.
I don't think they have the skill position talent to
make it this year. But don't count out Mike Tomlin.
All he's needed is average quarterback.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
You know, I'm glad you brought up Pittsburgh.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
We're going to get into that next about their quarterback battle,
if that's what you want to call it. But so
let me ask you this, where do you where you
put Purdy? Like I said, he's seventh, the seventh quarterback
on this list. I kind of think in that seven
to even thirteen or fourteen range. You know, it's gonna fluctuate,

(11:41):
to be honest, even I think five on down to
fourteen or so. So it's gonna fluctuate year to year.

Speaker 6 (11:49):
Coming back from one of the breaks, we were listening
to an interview that Colin Kyhart did and he was
talking about Purdy and him playing in the system and
him kind of limiting his ceiling because he doesn't make
a lot of outside the system plays, so basically given
the credit to Kyle Shanahan, which is fairs. Shanahan is
one of the best offensive minds in football. A great

(12:12):
quarterback can do both. And it's kind of why more
people are hiring Lamar than I am at times, because
great quarterbacks are calling when it's chaotic, Chris. They can
stay in the pocket when stuff breaks down and operate
within the confines of the system and then extend plays
when they have to. I don't know that Lamar is
great yet and operate within the comfines of the system

(12:35):
and think he still struggles with ball location. Party is
outstanding in the system and plays there more plays than
people think outside of it. He's just still operating under
the He was a seventh round draft pick, Monitor Moniker.
If they would have drafted Party in the first round
and Henry Breer's exactly the same as it is, people

(12:57):
will have a different narrative.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Everybody would be thinking he's the next future famer. Yeah, absolutely,
all right, We're gonna get into this battle.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Is getting interested in Pittsburgh justin.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
Fields or Russell Wilson, who will be the starter that's
next a couple Fox Sports Radio.

(15:16):
So Pittsburgh, this is getting interesting with the Steelers. I
felt like just a week or two ago that Russell
Wilson would be the starting quarterback there and kind of
deservedly so, Like I thought he'd look better in training camp.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
I thought if it was close, he would get the nod.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
But a door has been open for Justin Fields because
Russ was out with a calf injury for roughly a week.
I mean, I think maybe four days of practice or
something like that. I don't know if he's fully back
yet even But if you're a Steelers fan, player, coach, executive, owner,

(16:08):
maybe not player, but maybe player, I don't know, but
all the other ones, I would think for sure your
hope has to be that Justin Fields is the starter.
And nothing against Russ, but Justin Fields twenty five years old.
Justin Fields could theoretically be your quarterback for the next decade.

(16:31):
That's not Russell Wilson. Russ is at this point. Unless
he has a resurgence, He's kind of a stop gap
for the time being. Again, unless he has a resurgence,
but Justin Fields could actually be your You would you
could be done with the search for our replacement for
Ben Roethlisberger.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
So I think you got a hope that is Justin Fields.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
And I'm gonna say this Sean if Fields, like if
he has not, because he had his chance, he had about,
you know, four or five days where he was the
only one working with the first team offense. He had
a chance to impress the coaches and the players with
Russ on the sidelines, and if he didn't do that,

(17:18):
if he didn't grab hold of the starting job in
that moment, then that's his fault.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
So where are you at on this?

Speaker 4 (17:28):
And I would imagine you agree with me that it'd
be best for him to start because he could be
their future quarterback. But where are you at on this?
And do you think he is better than Russ or
should be the starter?

Speaker 6 (17:41):
I think they both should be starting somewhere in the
National Football League this year. What I will say is,
I think this is a competition Chris that will go
down to the wire. Whoever starts Game one, even if
it's not justin, I don't think it precludes him from
being the quarterback of the future.

Speaker 5 (17:56):
What I'll say is.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
It's hard to take clips that we see from training
camp and make macro opinions about them. Remember the first
NFL games not till I think what September fifth that
I think the whole week starts the eighth, and we're
not even in the August yet, so there's still a
lot of practice. There are still three preseason games I

(18:20):
mean there's still a lot of evaluations. You talk about
the four days that Russ was the starting quarterback, we
don't know what that schedule looked like. Were they doing
short yardage in gold line one of those days, you know?
Was it backed up coming out offense like? So depending
on where they were on the schedule, he could have
got a lot of chances to shine.

Speaker 5 (18:37):
He could not have.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
It still was the opportunity. I think every Steeler fan
is ecstatic because, as you mentioned, since and I'm not
going to say Roethlisberger left, I mean probably the last
two and a half three years of Roethlisberger being there,
they've been trying to get above average quarterback play, and
in spite of that, Mike Tomlin has been keeping that
ship sailing in the right direction. Haven't had a losing record.

(19:02):
I think Russ and or Justin are both above average quarterbacks,
and Pittsburgh's gonna have the best situation in that position
they've had in a long time. And they're one of
my dark horse teams that make a lot of noise
this year.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
Yeah, I was gonna ask you, like, how do you
see that division? I mean, that is I think that's
the tough division in the league. I mean, you know,
obviously you got the.

Speaker 6 (19:26):
Only team quarterback in Baltimore because Burrows. Burrow's coming back
off of injury, Deshaun's.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Coming back without question.

Speaker 5 (19:36):
Right, yeah, without calling one without questions is Baltimore.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
Well, but let's assume Burrow's healthy. You think there's still
a question mark their question mark because of his lack
of health.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
Right, just his health. And we saw what happened last
year when he missed.

Speaker 6 (19:51):
They were complete young kids played okay, but they fell
apart overall. Deshaun Watson. I mean, there's a lot of
people in Cleveland, like I know, they all getting fifty nine,
but when we paid fifty we ain't really got a
return on our investment.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
I mean, man, what do you think he will ever?

Speaker 4 (20:10):
And I'm not even gonna say get back to what
he was in his heyday, But I mean, can he
be ninety percent of that player?

Speaker 6 (20:20):
I think who is the older quarterback that philed in
formast I'm trying to blank Joe Flaccoll.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
I think watching Flacco.

Speaker 6 (20:31):
Be productive throwing the ball in that system eliminated all
the excuses that Sean had. You can't blame the play call.
You can't blame the head coach. It's just about you
have to be better and more consistent doing your job.
Do you think I think we'll get the best version
of him. We'll find out what that is.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
Do you think that?

Speaker 4 (20:50):
I mean you remember, like this is not this is
a guy that was viewed as a high character guy before. Yeah,
I mean Dabo Sweeney talking about you know, his character.

Speaker 5 (21:04):
I think he's a high character guy. Still.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
Well, I mean, if the accusations are true, that ain't
Let me.

Speaker 6 (21:13):
Say something about Clemson in that quarterback position. Big picture,
the coddling that Dabbo Sweeney does for his quarterbacks don't
does not prepare them, in my opinion, to necessarily all
be NFL quarterbacks that play up to their level of
talent on a consistent basis.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
Well, that's look.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Trevor certainly hasn't lived up to it yet. And Shawn
was great initially. I mean, there's no doubt about that.
But I just wonder if Sean, because he was a
guy that has such a great reputation, you know that
maybe this shook him mentally to the point he looks
fine when he speaks and everything, but maybe it shook

(21:57):
him so much that he just can't you know what
I mean, he can't bounce back mentally.

Speaker 6 (22:03):
I would say this, Chris, have you heard the saying
absolute power corrupts? Yes, I think he had too much
power when it got to Cleveland after having not playing
guaranteed first guaranteed contract NFL history.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
So you think it might be here that then, yes.

Speaker 6 (22:18):
And I think a lot of times, when you're looking
at mirror, you can't always see your own blemishes. And
that's why I brought up the Joe Flacco success because
now I think any excuse or crutch that was utilized
before to why he wasn't performing at the level anticipated
is eliminated.

Speaker 5 (22:36):
Now.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Well, look, they got a good team and if he
can gets healthy, great team yep, yep. And they even
ran the ball well last year without Chubb for the
most part.

Speaker 5 (22:46):
So they added the kid from Denver yep.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
So they were I mean, my goodness. I mean again,
they were good last year. But if DeShawn can get
close to being the Deshaun of oh then they really
could be a problem.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Too, all right.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
Foul affair with JR. Gambles around the corner First, Isaac.

Speaker 5 (23:23):
You're introductions on point of course.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
You already excited.

Speaker 8 (23:28):
The star of the segment is none other than the Man,
the mid the legend himself, the only reason why we
even talk baseball on this show. Don't let Rob Parker
for you. I was going to say, because Ron Jr. Gamble,
what's up?

Speaker 9 (23:45):
Jr? What's up?

Speaker 6 (23:47):
Is it?

Speaker 9 (23:48):
Wait? Rob's not there, Chris, I can't get my intro. Bro.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
I it's not my fault. I tried, man, you heard me.
I tried my best. I put a little extra into
it for you.

Speaker 9 (23:57):
So I'm very happy to be on with two legends
of the game, the great Sean King, who I remember
very well from his days as a quarterback in the NFL,
and the great Christmussons. I'm just just a pleasure. So
it's just a pleasure.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
Well then, yes, yes, all right, let's get right to it.

Speaker 8 (24:21):
I think we got the computer fixed. We had some
issues there. You know what happens when the studio was
built in nineteen ninety seven. Things go sideway sometimes. But
I got three MLB questions, and again, because Jr. Is
the star of the segment, he gets the first crack
at every single one.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
So let's get right to it.

Speaker 8 (24:39):
Story number one again, These are all MLB trade deadline topics.
Yankees GM Brian Cashman Jr. Confirmed on Wednesday that they
were in on former Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty ahead of
the deadline, but ultimately backed out due to medical concerns.
Now Flarerty, who many consider to be the best starting
picture moved at the deadline, ended up going to the

(25:01):
Dodgers instead. They were not worried about the medicals. Here's
the easy question for you. Is it foul or fair
to say the Yankees made a mistake?

Speaker 9 (25:11):
Fair?

Speaker 5 (25:17):
We got it.

Speaker 9 (25:19):
We know. Listen, we know Flarerty gets paying killers for
the back, right like we know that already. We know
Flowery's health has to be managed. But look at the results.
I mean, he's a top flight starter. Nobody picks that
deep into games anymore so. His six innings of one
run or two run ball with a k's. That's the

(25:39):
usual for black Jack. The Dodgers got to steal. In
my opinion, yes, health is always a concern for everybody
on the Yankees, but he automatically becomes your number two
or three at least, and he lengths your rotation tremendously.
And I think he would have been the difference down
the stretch for the Yankees. So what they did with Jazzism,
I think they drop the ball big time not picking

(26:01):
up Blackyards.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
I'm going to say foul.

Speaker 4 (26:07):
What I do like him a lot, you know, when
he's healthy and he's been able to pitch through this,
But man, you don't want to mess with backs and
the Yankees pitching.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
You know, it's pretty good.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Obviously it's in the top, you know, top five or
so in the league. I know the Dodgers pitching was
pretty good, and they added you know, they added him.
But I think the Yankees still will be fine and
have as good a chances as they would have had
with him, even though they didn't go out and get him.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
I'm gonna say fair. I mean, they need arms.

Speaker 6 (26:47):
You can't go into the playoffs depending on Marcus Stromman,
And that's the Cortes and Carlos will bomb. You've never
seen Gil do it. It's his first year, and you
know Garrett Cole's gonna come up short on the playoffs,
so they need to options as many options as possible
to try it out there the start games. So I
thought it was a definite miss by Cash.

Speaker 8 (27:08):
All Right, here we go story number two.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
JR.

Speaker 8 (27:11):
Gamble sitting with the odd couple. Yahoo Sports said in
their latest column that new Mariners out left fielder Randy
Arosa Arenna will be the most impactful player down of
the deadline. Now, Randy's only hitting two nineteen on the
season is pretty bad, but he is a career three
thirty six hitter in the postseason. So JR. Foul or
fair to say as Arena will be the most impactful

(27:34):
player to change teams to the deadline there.

Speaker 9 (27:41):
Look, I say for a team as offensively an as
the Mariners, but would arguably the best pitching in the league.
Anybody's an offensive upgrade, especially with Jap Crufford out. They
have nobody really no big time back. So Rose Arenas
Baseball cartown, He's gonna happen three second half, right, the

(28:03):
marredis needed to do something, getting a guy he could
explode at any minute for a playoff push and proving
back who's falling out of love with Tampa and vice versa.
That's a great grass for a team who was top
three in pitching and bottom three and hitting. They have
to find some balance somewhere.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
I'm with JR. On this. This is fair. A Rose
Arena is a gamer.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
I'm sorry, Like he consistently performs better in the playoffs
than he does in the regular season. If you just
saw him in the playoffs, you think the dude's gonna
be a Hall of Famer. I mean, he is fantastic
at that time of the season. I think he's a
career below two sixty for his career, But you said it,

(28:47):
Robbi's three. You know, I'm talking about doing the regular season.
But he's three thirty six in the playoffs. So yeah,
I do think Randy and Rose Arena is gonna make
some noise in this postseason.

Speaker 6 (29:00):
This one hurts, guys, because I'm a raised fan and
he didn't fall out with Tampa. By the way, he
loves the Raids in that community so much. When they
traded him, he came to the game with his family
in sat Fans and watched the.

Speaker 5 (29:14):
Game, so we hate to lose him, but we're used
to it.

Speaker 6 (29:17):
So I'm gonna say fair because I want him to
be successful. As as Gamble so eloquently said, that's the
one I think black hole the mare in his head.
You know, it's another big time offensive back. The only
thing I'll say and put a little I guess Lord
is ceiling a little bit. That's a tough part for hitters,

(29:39):
Like no hitters have gone to that park and had
great you know numbers.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
So with something to work.

Speaker 8 (29:45):
All right, last one foulon fair? The odd couple Jr.
Gamble sitting there with the fellas Mike Trout, the corpse
of Mike Trout. That is, We're supposed to return from
aniskin surgery last week, but he was pulled in the
middle of his first rehab assignment due to what they
called knee soreness.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
Now the club.

Speaker 8 (30:03):
Is saying that they don't think he's going to come
back at all this season because their team sucks and
he's basically been injured for the better part of five years. Now, Jr.
Here's the question, foul or fair to say the Angels
should have traded Mike Trout at the deadline.

Speaker 9 (30:20):
Trout. I mean, you can't sell an unhealthy product, right.
One might think Trout has a legion of suitors, and
if he was healthy or show any consistent health over
the past few seasons, they probably could have gotten that
historic Hall for him. But as great as Trout is,

(30:42):
only a few teams to me, the same old teams
willing to spend big money like the Dodgers and the
Yankees would be seriously interested in him at this point.
A younger team willing to invest in him long term
would need to see him healthy though, and probably couldn't
even afford him. So when Trout took that last he
basically became an edge of for LFE just feel bad

(31:03):
with Ron Washington that he has to row up streams
without his best paddle. So I'm not sure who you
could trade him too at this point, though, I'm a.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
Say fair, I mean cut the cord, like, what are
we talking about fourteen years. It's sad because Mike Chrold
obviously is a fantastic player, but the dude just can't
stay healthy. And what they made the playoffs once in
his fourteen seasons, And you mentioned some teams I hear you,

(31:34):
and I think you're right about, you know it not
being a lot of teams not being interested. But heck,
some of the teams you mentioned, we gotta start all
over with the Angels. I mean, let's get try to
get some you know, some picks, some farm hands or
something like that. Get what you can for him, because
even with him, you're not winning.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
So what are you doing?

Speaker 6 (31:59):
I'm gonna a foul And I hope I'm answering this
correctly because this is ludicrous by Arturo Moreno and Perryman
Nation the GM. They should have gotten rid of trapped
this off season when they did Old Tany that's when
he had value. You can't wait that after the All
Star breaking. He's been a no show for almost the

(32:19):
entire year. They think he has value, they should have
moved him this off season, just like they moved Otani.

Speaker 5 (32:27):
And that's valor fair.

Speaker 8 (32:28):
And if you like valor Fair, make sure you check
out the Inside the Parker podcast because Jr. Is carrying
that show on his shoulders.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
Job Jr.

Speaker 9 (32:38):

Speaker 1 (33:37):
Post it right after we get off the air. Sean,
let's end here.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Patrick Mahomes is the favorite basically everywhere to win his
third MVP, and I think that's fair.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
I think he is my favorite as well.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
Absolutely.

Speaker 4 (33:55):
I think Sean when he said last year wasn't fun
even though they won the Super Bowl, I completely get
where he was coming from, because I think when you're
that good, you want to do your thing. If you're
an NBA player capable of regularly averaging thirty points a
game and you only average twenty defense, well, I think

(34:23):
the receivers dropping passes, them being more denk and dunk
and yeah, winning with defense, don't I don't think he
has a problem with the obviously the defense being great.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
But just he is a Corvette. He's a Lamberghini like
he wants to fly.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
If I were capable of throwing forty to fifty touchdowns
and fifty three hundred yards, I'd want to do that.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
Throwing for forty.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
One hundred and twenty eight touchdowns wouldn't be as fun.
And so I think now them adding Zave if you're Worthy,
and I'm not all w put too much on the rookie,
but in Hollywood Brown you got two four to forty
yard dash guys. That is going to open up so

(35:09):
much for Kelsey, so much for Isaiah Pacheco, and obviously
so much more for Mahome. So I think it's set
up for him to really come out and have a
great year.

Speaker 5 (35:25):
Let me say this, the Chiefs blew it on the
draft day. Huh.

Speaker 6 (35:30):
Xavier Worthy will be one of the biggest first round
bus in this draft, Wow, and he does not play
as fast as he runs. He's going to struggle to
get off bumped man and man coverage, bump and run.
He's slightly built. He's not going to be what people
think he is. Xavier l Get who went after him,

(35:51):
will be better. Keyan Coleman will be better Lad mccaukey,
even Jalen Polkin Tampa. All guys have went within those
next ten to twelve picks that Kansas City could have
taken him, will all have better rookie years and be
better NFL players than Xavier Worthy. I'm saying that right here,
right now. I'll save this Chris about.

Speaker 5 (36:09):
What we do?

Speaker 1 (36:09):
Have it saved?

Speaker 9 (36:10):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (36:10):
Absolutely? And by the way, I think Brian. I have
Brian Thomas rated as a number one wide receiver I
in that class.

Speaker 5 (36:17):
He's gonna be really, really good.

Speaker 6 (36:18):
I'm gonna say this about the MVP deserving favorite, but
MVP is also about I think who's going to get
the most credit at quarterback for their team's success, and
I think that rests solely on Josh Allen.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (36:34):
Stefan Diggs is now with the Houston Texans. Gabe Davis
is now with the Jacksonville jack wuars Kean Coleman, a rookie,
is probably gonna be their number one receiver. I know
they have the two tight ends there. They've invested heavily
in that position. But if the Bills are in the
playoffs again and a legit twelve plus win team, Josh

(36:55):
Allen will get all the credit.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
Well, I agree with that, and.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
So yeah, there's a lot put on him, no doubt.
But here's the thing, and Josh is in the running,
there's no question about it. But last year, everybody talks
about how when they went five and zero at the
end of the regular season and six straight wins if
you count the playoff win, that Stefine Diggs wasn't really

(37:23):
a big part of the offense, right, And that's true.
But Josh Allen in those five wins sewn threw for
more than two hundred and forty yards once, had five
touchdowns in the five games and five picks. Like he
wasn't playing great either, And so I'm not saying he

(37:46):
won't do it this year, but I'm just saying that's
a little red flag for me. If I'm gonna pick
somebody that I think like, who's the guy I would
say most likely to overtake Homes as far as if
Mahomes doesn't win MVP.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
And you're right, Ali's got a story.

Speaker 4 (38:04):
They've been dying to give him an MVP award, so
you know that can help him. But I'm gonna say
c J. Stroud because he's got a lot of help. Obviously,
they added Joe Mixon. That adds define Diggs, but it
feels like people don't really view them as a stacked
team as far as weapons, but they kind.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
Of are.

Speaker 5 (38:28):
The rest of the quarterback. I'm a big seed.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
Yeah, So I just think that if he has he
has a great year.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
He's got the momentum coming off the great rookie season,
they're they're going to like they should win their division.
I'm not writing off or I am writing them off,
but I think Indianapolis could be tough. You know, let
me say this, I think they should win their division.

Speaker 6 (38:49):
The threshold for what he'd have to do production wise
to win MVP next year, I think it's.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
Why, what does he have to do more than anybody else.

Speaker 6 (39:00):
I just think that's a conversation for tomorrow. I'm back
on the odd couple tomorrow. We'll have to get deep
dive into.

Speaker 4 (39:05):
That well and look in between today and what is
it four pm Eastern tomorrow or our four pm Pacific,
seven pm Eastern, Watch some Jokic film, and I bet
you get get all warm and fuzzy inside, get you,
get you some Coco and watch some Jokic film, all right, bro,
