be and don't forget. Coming up in the final hour
of the program, Rob G you changed the.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Sheet that you did very nice.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
And Tony o'daniels will be joining us NBA Champ Serious
ExM NBA radio hosts and New Orleans Pelicans color analysts
at Fox Sports Radio NBA analyst.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
That'll happened in about twenty eight minutes.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
I want you to tell him being loud doesn't make
you right when he yells at you about how wrong
you are about Steph Curry.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Oh all right, we'll do that. They want to get
back into that, and you're still a little too.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
I just want to I just want to hear it happen.
When I talked to him, he's gonna agree with me.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
And speaking of being right, we were just talking about
Mookie bats and guess what his first game back, Martin Weiss?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
It is high, it is far, it is.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Going, Rob g was it a two run home row?
Just a solo two run jack first game back. He's
been out for a long time. And we were just
talking to Chris Rose earlier about whether or not Martin
he should be in the lead off spot or be
batting second. Of course, he batted second in a two
run home run, and he's back back in business. One
of one of the best players in the league. And
(02:09):
I know the Dodgers got to be thrilled.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
I mean not just one of the most versestil as well,
like like like Chris was saying, Chris Rose, who had
on earlier, nobody at thirties, like, you know what, I'll
try short stop out.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
No, it's still the way around you go from the
infield to the infield to the outfield.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
No, I rookie Bets is special and the Dodgers are
lucky to have him.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
No doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
All Right, Martin, let's do some NBA and let's do
the Final Hour and uh, Jason Tatum, right, and Jalen Brown,
especially Jason Tatum, what what.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Would you consider his experience? Like?
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Of course, the first things that they were asking him.
Of course, he won the gold medal. That should be good, right, excited,
But he got bench two games, he didn't play in two
of the eight games. Uh, disappointed NBA? Uh all NBA
first team and didn't play in two games or whatever.
And so the first question, naturally, is would that deter
(03:08):
you from wanting to play in the next Olympics in
twenty twenty eight because your experience.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Was so bad?
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Instead of people like saying, wow, what a year for
Jason Tatum, you know, he won the NBA finals, finally
got off the snide, won a championship, and now you
gotta go medal. What a year he's having. People are like,
why is he being disrespected? Why is he not being played?
What's wrong with Steve Kerr, people coming to his defense,
his mom, Bob Coozy, all kinds of people, Dick Vitel
(03:41):
all mad at Steve Kerr and what he went through.
As far as Jason Tatum, where are you on that?
And of course Jayleen Brown didn't even get invited. Three
of his teammates are there. This guy was the finals MVP,
and Martin he didn't even get invited to go play.
Would you want to participate in twenty twenty eight? Because
(04:04):
I'm telling you I can get grimy and hold a
grudge like anybody else. And if I'm Jason Tatum, I
say thank you going forward, but no thank I.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Got my gold medal.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
I'm good after the way you disrespected me, after the
way I mean to not play me in two games? Seriously,
and you talk about Rob g the list of first
Team All NBA, wasn't Jason Tatum the only American on
that list?
Speaker 2 (04:34):
The only American on that list?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
And he not playing in the In the Olympics, there's
two games where you can't find a spot for Jason
Tatum to play.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
So was he supposed to get sympathy minutes or so?
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Like?
Speaker 4 (04:47):
Would you have like Jason Tatum recover should be period.
He should be playing because all finals. The conversation was,
why is it Jason Tatum playing better? Right then he
comes out closing deal Olympics, does it? I mean he's
playing fine, he's playing okay, But yeah, I'm sorry, Jat,
you might have to sit the bench. When Lebron and
Kevin Durant are the two wings that are starting in
(05:09):
front of you, you might.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Just have It's not about starting, it's about playing the guy. Well,
the guys playing you only started one game this, How
does he not play two games?
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Martin?
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Particularly, nobody is playing in a one off game like
the Olympics are are not necessarily when there's no back
to backs, there's no travel, and the rest is kind
of structured in nobody's saying taking Jason Tatum over Lebron
or Kevin Durant. Now, over the span of an eighty
two game season, that's a different story.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Over the span of the NBA, all the people have
made us think they're just making this up. They got
to have people gotta have something. Especially, this is what
this is, what it is. This is with Team USA basketball.
It's very much like when Nick Saban was coaching Alabama,
or some of that's really what it is.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
It's a college football team. In terms of disrespect. It's
not about winning. It's about how much you went by
how it looks when you win. They almost lost the
South tou Dan in an exhibition game, and people are
losing their minds, myself included. Everybody's gonna nitpick about one
little thing when you're behind Lebron James, who is one
of the best basketball players that we've ever seen, and
(06:16):
behind Kevin Durant, who unequivocally is the Olympic leading scorer. Yeah,
maybe JT is not gonna get enough good to get
the same playing time that.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
You think nobody asked for the same playing time, but
not to play.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
It's outrageous. It's outrageous.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
You're not talking about Martin what amount of minutes or
he's counting the minutes and saying, oh, the minutes are
on up.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
To par whatever.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
That's not exactly what we're talking about played.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
If Jason played him had played ten minutes combined in
the last three games of the Olympics, we won't be
talking about it.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Not, No, not the same way that he had a
d MP twice. So if he had so, if he
had played two and a half minutes. He should the game.
In the last two games, Steve Coo would be talking
about it.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Kirk could have found minutes for him. Why but why though?
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Why?
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Out of respect? Out of respect?
Speaker 4 (07:07):
You know what Jason Tata finished from the floor in
jump shots in the Olympics.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Oh for sixteen, oh for sixteen? And what does that mean?
It means. It means he was not playing well enough
to justify.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
It's just that Lebron Jays and Kevin Durant And this
is not a hot take, like everybody just needed something
to complain about.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
And that's what it was.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
He's one of the best players in the NBA. He
just led his team to an NBA championship because.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
Jalen Brown got the Dayalen Brown got the MVP Trophy
both times they were available.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Okay, And who who was the leading school, who had
who had who was the leading scorer, who.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Had the most rebound? You want to go look at
the stats. I want to go look at I don't
have to look like so who let it? Who let
an all category? Did Jason play? Who let in all categories?
I'll ask, well, did he play on the final?
Speaker 1 (08:00):
He sure did and in the close out game, guess
what Jalen Brown said shot six for twenty two in
the close out game. Jaylen Brown wasn't six for twenty two.
I'm sorry, I cannot shet it hold out game.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
I cannot shed a tear for Jason Tatum not getting
minutes over two of the mount Rushmore players of this era.
It's not about minutes. The number of minutes is that
he got no minute. So if you played about you
would be completely placated. If he had played two minutes
and the you could have found more than two minutes.
The point is why when he's when he's not shooting well? Yes,
shot well all through the Eastern Conference playoffs. He didn't
(08:37):
shoot well all through the Olympics. Did you watch him
beat earlier when they were playing two. If Jason tatle
up seven feet tall and three under crowds could guard
NICOLEA Yokins, he would have got on in the court.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Okay, But but that didn't stop them from starting in
bed when we saw how he played, especially.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Early on when they first were doing the prelims.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Right, do you remember what happened the game after JT
sat out the first one?
Speaker 2 (08:56):
I'm talking was DMPCD Joel Embiid.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yeah, but I'm talking about you still would find a
way to a player of that ILK and a player
who's going to be the face or of the of
the Olympics going forward. He's a young player who's going
to be that guy. He couldn't you five minutes, you
could find minutes. And it feels like the same argument.
(09:22):
There's a guy who's an All Star. You gotta take
somebody out. They can't just play everybody. Is this supposed
to be just some uh honorary doctorate where you just
give it to everybody, Hey, everybody, everybody can play, Come on, come.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
On down, Tyrese Haliburton.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Every last six seven games or whatever in the Olympics,
and nobody lived. He didn't win a championship, he wasn't
a NBA First Team All first Team the only American
on that list.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
And and and that's the guy who can't find any
time that that's the guy that you can't find minutes for,
the guy who's going to be the future of the Olympics,
who's going to play into twenty eight. Maybe in lost air,
I wouldn't do it. I would say I'm good, Thank
you for this experience. This was crappy. Thanks Steve Kerr,
whatever you wanted to do to take away from what
(10:12):
I did all year with the championship. So that everybody says, hey,
while he won a championship and Steve Kerr disrespected him,
that that that's.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
What the narrative is. I can't get that.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
I disagree with the entire premise of being disrespected because
you didn't play again in front of the two people
who are going to walk in day one, they're eligible
for them.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
If they If Fox Sports Radio had an event in
Las Vegas and they flew you out to Las Vegas
and and everybody was there and you didn't get to
do one show, I'm just asking you, Okay, everybody flew
everybody out to Las Vegas or if somewhere for the
for the Super Bowl, and you were out there and
not one, not one shot, did they were able to
(10:55):
fit you in so that you could be on the air.
You would accept that because you would say, well, Rob
and Chris and and and everybody else has more experience
than me.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
That would be cool for you.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
I'm asking you, I'm telling you you would be with
them with that.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
You're not even Jason Tatum.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
I'm telling you that when you guys went to Vegas
this year, I had nothing to say because I'm a
weekend radio host by trade, that's my job. I'm not
one of these guys who's in here five days a week,
who have been in here for five days a week.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Final we brought you, brought you out to Vegas. I
would have said, thanks for the trip. Oh God, please,
I appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Rob G.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
You don't even believe Let's remember we were talking about Vegas,
g Rob.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
He remembers we had this conversation. Did we not hell?
Did we not knowing? Come on? Come on, Rob, did
we not have Yeah? We actually had this exact conversation.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
And I said, I was like, man, I really wish
they would bring me out there, But I'm not.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Was I upset about it? Was I crying about it?
Was I scotch because you brought up that reason? The
identity brought it up to you, Rob G is proof
pod That's another good point.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Right that he because of otherwise Martin, you wouldn't have
mentioned it to Rob G.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
No, No, how did you mention it because you hear
what you're feeling? Well, because if you feel's got her
if you muff know.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Las Vegas and Las Vegas are both Rob G's favorite
city and favorite movie.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
So he was talking about how he's booking for Vegas.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Booking for Vegas asked me if I was coming, and
I said no, but I wasn't, like, oh my god,
I can't believe that the wanton disrespect that I'm feeling
right now.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
No, No, I don't feel that way now. Now. I'll
tell you this.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
If if I got called to Vegas and you were off,
and Chris was off, and Jason Smith and Mike Harmon
were off, and and Doug Gottlieb couldn't show up, and
I'm just sitting there twiddling my thumbs, I'm.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Like, hey, guys, you know I could do this too.
I'd love to do it as everybody's gone. Then that'd
be a different story.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
And that's the story that Jason Tatum will be experiencing
in twenty twenty eight because KD won't be there, Likely
Lebron won't be there.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Likely it will be his freeway to drive down wide open.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
It can go as fast or as slow as he'd
like to, because he's gonna be the only one in
the driver's seat.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
That's how it is. But right here, right now, No,
and it was true. It was true. The analogy that
you tried to make. You didn't know it, but it
was a bad one.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
It's not a bad one. I'm right. There's no way
you would feel good with it.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
If you were a part of the team, and you
were a big player, pact, a big player, you would
think you would not feel good.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
But we were in Arizona. I was standing right there
the entire time. I came over to the Fox Sports
radio booth every day every day. Yeah, but what you said,
what's up, Steve Camino, Rich Davis, how you doing?
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Oh Chris, great to see it, man, I haven't seen
you in years. Rob tell him, tell him. He did
say that. He also said, I don't know if you
guys know, but my pictures on the side of the
wall right there, were says, sees your sports book. There's
a big cartoon drawing on me right there. I'm just
saying it. Yeah, I'm also a big deal.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
If you want to get what, you don't know what's
Rob g said, We're not putting them on under any circumstances.
So we I did this same the little Tuesday radio
hit that I've been doing for years, the same little toothday.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
You know what I did, I did it.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
With a smile on my face and told you to
take a picture and put it on Instagram. Why because
I was at the Super Bowl doing radio, which was
a dream come true for even at ten minutes I.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Was on all Right eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine nine. I didn't finish no
oh for sixteen sixty three sixty nine. Should Jason Tatum
pass on the twenty twenty eight Olympics here in Los Angeles?
Speaker 2 (14:29):

hear from you.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
It is the odd Couple on a Magic City Monday,
Rob Parker, Martin Weiss, Infra, Chris Broussard, Stick and.

(16:32):
pass after the treatment he got. Martin disagrees.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Well, I mean the treatment that he got, you know.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Oh my goodness, I was criet here for the richest
man in the NBA, Shawn and Sacramento. You're on the
odd couple on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (16:47):
Yeah, my uncle from another mother, my brother's mind. The
boy hey marn been putting up a value fight over
the last couple of weeks. Man, I ain't gonna lie.
It might be a brand new eye couple side piece
in the bill there.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Yeah, he might be right. Appreciate you, Bro.
Speaker 6 (17:05):
You got under his skin today though, Rob, I ain't
gonna lie.
Speaker 8 (17:08):
Man.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
It's a couple of times I thought I was gonna
reach across that screen and get at you.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
But I got to agree with Rob. Man.
Speaker 6 (17:15):
Look, I get what you're saying, Martin, Like, he hasn't
had a great Olympics, but you gotta work guys in there.
That's his whole job as a coach and make sure
that you're you're not only putting the best guys out there,
because you're gonna have the best guys, but figure out
the minute so that you could get guys like Jason
Tatum ready for the future because France is on the
come up, Serbia's on the right. And make sure you're
preparing guys for the future. And I didn't want to
(17:38):
ask one more thing, Rob, did you go to North Korea,
Russia or China do your vacation? Because you were very
Unamerican with that Steph Curry take earlier today.
Speaker 9 (17:46):
Brother, you know I got to call it the way
I see it. I'm sorry. Well, Jawn, thanks well called
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Go to Michael in North Carolina. You're on the Couple
on Fox Sports. Ready, Yeah, what's going on?
Speaker 8 (18:01):
Gentlemen? Rob, I'm a huge fan of yours. I call
the show often.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Thank you, my man. I appreciate you. Great to be back.
Speaker 8 (18:08):
Oh, welcome back. By the way, I hope you had
a good vacation.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Absolutely to answer your.
Speaker 8 (18:14):
Question, though, I love you, but I have to disagree
with you. Should Jason Tatum play in the twenty twenty
eight Olympics. I think he absolutely should, And I'll tell
you why. I think he's got to prove that he could.
He you know, I know Kerr, he could say he
benched him and all that stuff. But I think Jason Tatum,
(18:35):
if he's a competitor that he is and I'm a
big fan of him, he's got to prove that he can,
you know, be a main contributor, you know, not a
role player or a bench player, but a main contributor
to helping the team team with, say, win another gold medal.
And you've got to look at it this way. Lebron
is not going to play Step most likely won't play. Durant,
(18:58):
we don't We're not sure about him, but he's gonna
be on the back end of his career.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
I mean, you got pretty sure Durant's not gonna play
in twenty twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (19:05):
I don't think so either. But you got Tatum, you
got Anthony Edwards, you have Jalen Brown. I think Jalen
Brunson are going to be I think Tatum absolutely should play.
Just to make a point that I.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
Don't know about Jalen Brown being there, especially after what
went down with Grant Hill or whatever. Probably some bad
blood there I doubt that he he'll play for Team
USA in twenty twenty eight.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
You got to have for one more yes, all right,
Josh in Arizona. You're on the couple on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 10 (19:35):
Josh, how y'all doing, man, Rob is good to hear
from you, man.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Yes's great to be back. Thank you, buddy. How are you?
Speaker 10 (19:42):
I'm okay? And again you have knocked it out of
the park, mister Weiss. No, all respect to you, but
I don't know if you've been sipping something.
Speaker 5 (19:52):
I've been watching.
Speaker 10 (19:53):
I've been listening to the radio station from the beginning
and some of these takes are just.
Speaker 8 (19:58):
Out of world for me.
Speaker 10 (20:00):
I don't understand the last caller, Jason Tatum was in
the Tokyo Olympics. Was he not three years ago? And
he was? I think he did very well, got a
gold medal, right next to KD. So I'm just trying
to see like he's played next to these guys. How
are we figuring that he can't get no time because
of Lebron jameson KD. No, I mean he's your most
(20:21):
versatile player. He showed you that in the playoffs when
he thank you, stuarted the center and then led the
team in assist and helped guard Kyrie Irvis. So I'm
not I don't care he didn't play, but to say
that he couldn't play, to say he was playing too bad.
Speaker 6 (20:35):
That's ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
He couldn't play. I'm just saying he didn't give Steve
Kerr any reason.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
Like if we had going nine for sixteen from the
floor in those first couple of games, then I was
thinking we probably would have seen more of them. All Right,
I just know this, I bet and I hear a
word out of y'all when you see the next door
neighbors kids come home with a participation trophy, because that's
all y'all want Jason Tatum to have.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
All Right, coming up next, Antonio Daniels will dive into
some of the NBA takes. You got something you wanna
ask Antonio?
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Find a thing or two you think? So, yeah, you
think he'll agree with me or not?
Speaker 1 (21:09):
I vehemently think he will vociferously disagree with you.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
All Right, but first let's get you caught up.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Now, let's welcome in Antonio Daniels of course, NBA cham
Serious exam, NBA radio hosts, New Orlean Pelicans, color analyst,
Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Radio, NBA.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
And I mean, he got a million jobs and he
deserves them all. Antonio, what's up? Say hi to Martin
weiss In for Chris Bussar, my.
Speaker 5 (21:48):
Man, Martin, how you guys doing today?
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Antonio, I'm better now that you're here. Talk some sentence
in my partner and Tonio, I'm back.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
I already know where this is going. Where it's going, Oh,
where it's going.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Where's just going about Steph Curry to a ridiculous place.
That's where it's Curry.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
It's gonna be about Steph Curry because I know.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Rock, You know me, all right? This is my point.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
He made very big shots. No one's taking away anything
from Steph Curry. But my idea of a clutch shot
is when you make shots when you're down, not when
you're two possessions ahead.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
That they were big.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
Shots, and I give them his credit, throw flowers whatever
you want to do. But a clutch shot is Ray Allen.
A clutch shot is Michael Jordan against the Calves to
win a series. A clutch shot is Kyrie Irving to
complete a three to one come from behind. Those to
me are clutch shots. Big they're big shots. People have
(22:54):
big shots, But to me, clutch is different. And in
Steph's career, this is my issue with Steph when everybody
wants to crown him the greatest shooter of all time.
Ozero for fourteen in the postseason with a chance to
tie the game or put his team ahead in the
final twenty seconds. Andre Iguodaler, one of his teammates who
won a championship and all that played those years with
(23:16):
Golden State. They asked him, if you need a bucket
at the end of the game, who would you give
the ball to?
Speaker 2 (23:22):
He said, Kiwie Irving. Are he played with Steph in February? Okay,
he said that, just this February.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
And that's just my point is a difference between big
shots and clutch Am I crazy?
Speaker 4 (23:34):
No, no, no, Because the question he asked me, Antonio,
was were the shots that Steph Curry hit in the
gold medal game?
Speaker 2 (23:39):
They clutch? They were big?
Speaker 5 (23:42):
Okay, you know what's crazy, roun Let me tell you
what's wild. What's that the day on our series at
sim show, I didn't want to air you out, but
I was talking about you without mentioning your name. I said,
there are so many people out there because here's the thing,
it didn't matter.
Speaker 6 (23:59):
What Steph Curry did.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
If you already feel that way, you're going to think
of a reason why what he did isn't deserving of
the title of greatest shooter of all time. And that's
what I said today. So my thing is, there's nothing
that happened in this Olympic that is going to shape
or change my view of any particular player. I don't
think now, man, you know what, Teresa Haliburton and Jason
(24:22):
Tatum are over rated because they don't play. I went
into this thinking knowing, and there's certain things. I listened
to everybody's opinions. I will listen to everybody's opinion. My
mom told me as a child, that's how you learned
to listen to everybody's opinions. But on the flip side,
I also think there's I think there are certain things
that aren't debatable. Steph Curry being the greatest shooter of
(24:44):
all time, I don't think that's debatable.
Speaker 6 (24:46):
I listen to you, But.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
It's don't you think that making big shots in big
moments matter. I'm just asking you as a player as criteria.
Speaker 6 (24:58):
Yes, it matters, but so does making.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
Shots all the time.
Speaker 8 (25:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (25:03):
Making able to shoot the ball from this Sanson's accuracy
like no one else in the history of you before
you have done it.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
You have a you have a you have a game
on the line.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
You need a shot, Ray Allen, Reggie Miller or Steph Curry.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Who you giving the ball to? Antonio? Hold no?
Speaker 5 (25:19):
Hold on, Noah matter, hold on, hold on. So here's
the question, Rob, There has to be context to that question.
Are they all shooting the same shot?
Speaker 3 (25:28):
No?
Speaker 2 (25:28):
Who can make a shot? Is what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (25:31):
No, no, no, no, because this matters. It matters like this
context to what you're saying. It's not as simple as
saying I need a shot, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (25:39):
If not that, the issue with Steph is not that
he's He's had like a couple of double he missed
a few.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
He's zero for fourteen.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
That's a huge sample size, is all I'm saying. And
and his own teammate Igwadwell, who played with him, would
pick Kyrie the greatest you, how do you take anybody
over the greatest shooter ever?
Speaker 5 (26:05):
Now, No, here's the thing, though, I it's a difference
between needing a bucket needing a bucket. That's different because
Kyrie Irving's handle stock creativity is different. It's different. It's
not like like you're acting like Andre Goadallas said, Man,
you know what, if I need a bucket, I'm going
(26:26):
to Antonio Dangels. He talking about a role player.
Speaker 6 (26:30):
Kyrie Irving may be the best.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
Ball handler and shot creator to ever play the game.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Yes, but if the greatest shooter, how do you not
want the ball in the hands of the greatest shooter.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
That's not that you're asking a question. That's not that simple.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
It's not.
Speaker 5 (26:49):
It's not that easy. Them can be the greatest shooter
of all time, but there are circumstances that come.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Along with shots.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
Is it five seconds left? Is it two seconds left?
You know what I mean? We had this discussion on
my FRIS THATX TIM show a few weeks ago. There's
three seconds left on the clock. Who do you want
taking that shot in today's NBA?
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Well, I'll tell you anybody but Steph anybody?
Speaker 4 (27:12):
All right, yeah, go run out of Rudy Gobert out
there the two point line. I tell you, Antonio, you
may have been a role player in the NBA, but
on radio, you just dunked all over Rob Parker. So
I appreciate he adn't dunk on me. I'm still I'm
still standing popping go ahead.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
All right?
Speaker 5 (27:26):
Speaking of still, like, here's the thing. I feel like
Kevin Durant is one of the greatest players offensive players
to ever play. If there's three seconds left in the game,
four seconds left in the game, I don't care who
else we're talking about. Because of his size, his skill
set is handled. I want the ball in his hands
to take that shot. I think that's how many shots
(27:47):
he's made or miss No, I don't care.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
But we've seen him make big shots. I mean, he
could have beat the Milwaukee Bucks if he wore size.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
Thirteen, could have could have he made this.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
No, but he ain't made the shot. He made the shot,
but it didn't.
Speaker 5 (28:02):
But it didn't. If you don't win.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
It, tie the game.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
It tied the game. He could have won it. Steph's
never tied the game.
Speaker 5 (28:10):
So here's the thing. Here's the thing. Rough, If you
feel a certain way about Steph Curry because then when
he does do it, you know what you want to
your argument's going to be, oh man, now he's one
for fifteen, that's gonna be a argument. Then he's two
for sixty. Like it doesn't. When you feel a certain
way about certain players, there's nothing that I can say.
(28:30):
There's nothing that they can do to change that perception
that you have of them. About them, there's nothing that
you can do because you're always going to find a
reason as to why. And that's what we talked about
on my Serah Texam show today. There are people that
feel like step is the greatest shooter of all time,
myself included. I don't think it's debatable, and there are
people that would challenge it, and the people that will
(28:51):
challenge it will always find a reason as to why
he's not.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
Yeah, I mean, I don't know how you look at
those shots in the Olympic Game and say they weren't clutch.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
But that's a copreenation for two and a half hours ago.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
Antonio Daniels, serious, use you land all the stuff that
you do already? NBA Champion, do you want to ask
you this though? NBA Champion to another one Jason Tatum,
who didn't play in the semifinal game. Should that impact
the way that he approaches the twenty twenty eight Olympics.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
I wouldn't play. I'd be like, I'm good, thank you.
Speaker 5 (29:20):
No, you know my thing?
Speaker 10 (29:21):
I think it should change?
Speaker 5 (29:22):
Is it change the way he approaches this season? I'll
tell you from from the competitive nature and me, I
wanted I wanted Boston and Golden State to be a
Christmas game because I know Jason Tatum gonna go berzerk, right,
he gonna go berserk in that particular game. But the
question is, do you think that the USA are favorite
(29:45):
heading into the twenty twenty eight Olympics.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
No, yes, I think No, I don't. I don't need that.
I'm with you, Antonio.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
If you remove Lebron steth kd possibly somebody like Drew
Holliday from that team, just firm age purposes, think about
who else you're going to put in there, and are
you comfortable Are you comfortable with saying that team, whoever
the other four or five guys that you put in that,
(30:15):
you're comfortable saying that team will beat that France team,
will beat that Serbia team, will beat that Germany team
in twenty twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
No, I'm not convinced. I'm not. I'm not.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
I'm with you there, I take all bets. Team USA
is winning the gold in La flat out. I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Like you, okay, I get it, you're losing guys, but
like you're adding all types of new guys. And again,
Devin Booker, Jason Tatum, these guys will be there. They
have Olympic experience at this point, Anthony Edwards will be there,
he's got Olympic experience. And then guys like Chad Holmgren,
Derek Lively like I'm and then look.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
At the competition.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
The only real competition I can think of in four
years will be France and they don't have a point
guard because the Nando de Colo was like eighty five
years old.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Evan Fourgner won't play in the next Olympics. Probably if he.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
Does, he'll be washed even more washed than he is now.
Got waived by the Pistons last year. Whenby you'll buy
on a new level.
Speaker 5 (31:10):
But why when Germany being Why when Germany be competition?
That would be to be competition I.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Mean, because I mean, look, I'm looking at Dennis Schreuder,
I'm looking at Moe Wagner, all due respect, I love
mo In Franz.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
I'm a Michigan fan. I love what they did at
the university.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
I don't see those guys even cracking the beginnings of
all NBA teams in the next four years.
Speaker 5 (31:28):
Oh hold on. That's the difference, though, This is the
difference between euro Basketball and the NBA. Our problem is
we look at these players in their NBA roles. Dennis
Shrewder is the Lebron James in Germany and that in
the NBA.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
That's why it didn't metal. If Lebron James was liberally
days of Germany, they probably had the goal.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
I'm just saying in general, we see guys both playing
for their countries. They turned into completely different creatures when
they play for their country.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
I buy that Don Bogdanovich was uh Sassin.
Speaker 5 (32:03):
You could go down the list, Go down the list.
Dyson Daniels, Dyson Daniel, Like when these guys put Taddy Mills.
When these guys play for their countries, it's not the
same player because they're not putting the same box that
they're put in when they play in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
No doubt, no doubt, all Right, Antonio as always, man,
we appreciate you. It's good to have dialogue. We could
agree to disagree. It's okay if you're wrong somebody.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
You never hit a big shot? Ask the French how
many big shots? I'm just saying, like, like, at some
point you say big shot. At some point you got
to make a big shot. That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (32:36):
I already knew where this was going.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
I know you, Rob, All right, Well, let me ask
you this real quick.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
How come they never say Marv Levy's one of the
all time great coaches in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Do you know? You know he took a team to
the Super Bowl?
Speaker 6 (32:49):
We we did.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
We discussed this, Rob, We talked about this and.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
See what Why isn't he considered one of the all
time I'm just asking why not? Why he's at four
straight super Bowl he didn't win? Okay, just like Steph
has made a big shot.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
What that has to do with What does that have
to do with Steph Curry?
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Steph has made a big shot either. But I'm saying,
in a big moment, it's about getting it. And I'm
not saying Steph has to make every shot. He just
hasn't made one. Don't you find that. Don't you find
that incredible?
Speaker 5 (33:19):
Though?
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Can you be Antonio to think that a guy of
that talent and that ilk has never made a shot
at the end of the game, the tie or win
a game. Are you not surprised by that? Just that's
the only question I'm asking. Are you not surprised?
Speaker 5 (33:35):
I'm not. I mean, for me, I'm not tripping, man, Okay,
I'm not tripping like that doesn't that doesn't change my
perception of Steph Curry.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
Part of the reason the game was tied or they
were trailing in the Olympics because Steph kept hitting shots.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
That's the issue, Antonio. We appreciate you, Thank you, my man,
thank you for sure.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
All right, all right, coming up next world, put a bowl,

Post it right after we get off the air.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
And of course I said, what take the Yankees minus
two and a half runs?
Speaker 2 (34:59):
And that didn't work? Yeah, you know what.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
I actually tried to go on live bet this game
as I saw I can't remember who the Kelly for
the White Sox hit a home run as soon as
I went to go do it, and they odds got
too sharp.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
But but I would Hey, they were one for eleven
runs in scoring position. They've they've had guys on. I
saw Judge leave the bases loaded. I saw Stanton leave
the bases loaded like this, This is wide like one.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
It was one of those days. Because that's what I thought.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
I'm serious going in that they was gonna be runners
all over the place. Sure, and they were gonna get
some runs in. And now it's five to two and
the White Sox got two men on second and third
and nobody out and we're only in the fifth inning.
So it's not a good look. The Yankees are in
trouble here.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
I think actually Chicago's gonna win this game. You would
think so, right, I think so too, No doubt? All right,
Jerry Jones not beating the ad to get on that one. No,
Jerry Jones is a cave man. Can I say that.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
He's a caveman because he always caves in and negotiations.
One minute he tells you what I don't want, the
rush of CD lamb oh wait whatever, there's no big
pressure to get anything done. Man, did we miss him?
I remember what was the other one with Ezekiel Elliott?
(36:21):
Remember that Ezekiel who is what Jerry Jones said? And
then what days later? He was the highest paid running
back ever six years, ninety million?
Speaker 2 (36:31):
Then he said that Ezekiel who?
Speaker 4 (36:33):
Remember you under saying that Jerry was a caveman because
he doesn't understand or operate like this salary cap exists.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
No, he always gives in. He caves in on these negotiations,
they play this game. Even with Dak Prescott, Oh we're
not sure, and this and that, and then they had
to give Dak like sixty million large and what do
you make like like a signing bonus. Remember it was
like sixty million dollars. He made the ninety million in
one year. I don't get Jerry Jones.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
I mean, I get it. He's just not very good
at this.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
Like, if you want to talk about evaluating players, drafting guys,
the Cowboys have hit on a ton of drafteds big time.
Speaker 5 (37:10):
This.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
Think about the quarterback that's probably gonna be the highest
pai quarterback in football is a fourth round pick.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
Right.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
There's a guy, there's a guy named Will McLay who
is in their front office who used to be with
the Lions. I knew him years ago. He does a
great job. He's a part of that. But they don't
they don't win. They've got all these players you're right
about drafted.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
They hit in the draft. I know they're great evaluators.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
It just comes back to actually figuring out how much
to pay, because you know, everybody gets the same size
of pie in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Who gets what slice? Is the biggest problem in Dallas crazy.
So CD limbs to get his deal. What's the what
do you think I think he does?
Speaker 2 (37:46):
I think this. I think CD gets it.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
I think Dak's on a prove it deal and Dak
will end up being next year the highest paid quarterback
in the NFL for a new team for.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
The Pittsburgh Steelers. According to you.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
Know, well, he'd be better than either option they got
right now. I don't know anybody want to debate Dak
versus Russell Wilson. And apparently that was the conversation of
an hour two. That's all right, that's all right. You
could be wrong. We're still all right, Martin wife, thank
you for filling in. Great job, Thank you, great job.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Oh, thank you, appreciate it. And it is glad to
be Yes, it is fun to have you along for
the ride.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
And yes, Chris Bushat is on vacation for the rest
of the week, but we will be here, so make
sure you tune in. I think it's Brian No tomorrow,
Rob g Right, Brian No. Don't you know he'll be
joining us here on the odd couple. Make sure you
tune in.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Beach. Jason Smith and Mike Harmon are next. Give a lot,
