You're listening to Fox Sports Radio, our number three of
the Odd Couple.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
We just had a fantastic trash talking Tuesday, Rob Parker
and Brian no in for the vacation in Chris Bussard.
We're broadcasting live from the tire rach dot com studio lot.
Thank you, Bill, tire rack dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
We'll help. We'll help you get.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
There an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, and free roadhazard
protection with over ten thousand recommend it installers. You heard
me right, tyre rack dot com. The way tire buying
should be. Man, Brian know already two hours down. It's
not like some of these other shows you fill in

(01:12):
on or you do you know where you got pulling
your teeth, I mean pulling your hair and it feels
like it's nine hours.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
I'm just saying, uh.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Huh no, yeah, no, no, it's definitely not like that.
I was fly by baby, you know, cruising along here.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Unbelievable and we got the trolling and rolling with Martin
Wis's coming up. That's at the bottom of the hour,
about twenty eight minutes or so. So we'll do that.
But in the meantime, mister know, I want to get
to the NBA. Let's talk more about the gold medal
and Carmelo Anthony rob g do we have sound of Carmelo?

(01:50):
So Carmelo Anthony went on a podcast and said that
a gold medal to him is bigger than when an
NBA Finals title.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Let's listen.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Would you trade your freelance the gold medals for one
NBA ringers.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
I've never been asked that question.

Speaker 6 (02:10):
No, when we talk about the global sport, for me,
a medal means something totally different than an NBA championship.
They both have their own separate meetings. But when in
a gold medal, it's the passion, it's the pride that
you have, not just for a city or a state,
for a whole nations, for whole country.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
You're winning for it.

Speaker 6 (02:31):
So it's a different level of I would say pride
that you have to have when you're wearing USA across
your chest or you're wearing Lithuania across your chest. Right,
it's a totally different feeling than Nick's New York across
your chest.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Sorry, Carmelo not buying it, No way, no how, Brian,
And I'm not unpatriotic, and I get it you wearing
the red, white and blue, and oh you're on the
world stage. I'm sorry. If I'm an NBA player, winning
an NBA championship is numero uno. The medal against a

(03:12):
ton of players who I don't even know who they are,
where they came from. How good the competition When you're
in the NBA, those are the four hundred best players
in the world.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
And if you win a championship, just like when Carmelo
won the college basketball championship, right, he was tremendous.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
You remember that, Brian.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Now, Jim Bayheim should kiss his butt every time he
sees Carmelo Anthony. Otherwise Jim Beahim would have coached for
fifty years and never would have won a championship. Carmelo
was spectacular. People always remember that. And this notion that
you covet the three medals you won in the Olympics,

(03:55):
and I'm not trying to pooh pool them or discount
them or mean that their garbage or anything. But it
was easy for him to say that because he has
the medals and he didn't have the championship.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
That's right, right, Yeah, That's what it comes down to
is this is a hypothetical question, and he gave a
hypothetical answer, right, Like, Rob, do you believe in your
heart of hearts, we're talking about American basketball here. If
this is Yokic and trading an NBA ring for a
gold medal, maybe I'll listen to that argument.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
And you know what, and I agree with you. In
those countries, it's totally different.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
They don't have a league of the level I'm talking
of the level of the NBA where you consider it
the best league. Right yeah, just don't write I think
even the Japanese players that come here.

Speaker 5 (04:44):
Right yeah, I think Jokic.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
If Jokic said, listen, I would trade my NBA ring
to win, I would fully believe that, right, I'm with
you on that, But do you believe, mellow like, if
you could actually do this, you could trade your three
gold medals for one NBA ring? If he could actually
do that. I think he would. I think he'd be

(05:08):
out of his mind not to do that, because the
gold it doesn't mean nearly as much for your individual
legacy as an NBA championship does.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
Especially if it was what the Knicks good.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Carl Melo Anthony was born in New York, Graves and Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
But if you want to go back and win, I mean,
look at.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
What they're doing with Jalen Bruns and he just didn't
even get out of second round. I know, mag it
like that, like like he's the next coming of the Messiah.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
What they were doing a couple of years ago when
they beat the Hawks in the first round, they acted
like they won a championship then, like if Melo was
the reason why they want a ring, Oh gosh.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
I still remember, uh Cecil Fielder when he came to
the Yankees in the trade and they won the World
Series in ninety six, and he told me, he said, dude,
he's said, you know, winning a World Series or whatever.
And the way the people responded to he said, he
couldn't go anywhere in New York without people paying homage
to him helping the Yankees win a World Series in

(06:12):
ninety six.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
He says the most unbelieve.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
He said, I don't care how I look, what I'm
doing or whatever. Somebody he said, no matter where I went,
would stopped me and thank me for winning a World
Series for the Yankees in ninety six.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
Wow, yeah, that's and I think you could flip it around. Also, Rob,
what if let's say Mellow was a three time NBA
champion and he was on a podcast and he said, Hey,
you know the Olympics they're going on right now, would
you trade those three NBA rings for a single?

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Goali?

Speaker 5 (06:44):
Tell no, you wouldn't even think twice about you. You
wouldn't even think.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
And I don't think it's I just don't think the
Olympics hold the same weight. And it doesn't mean that
it's meaningless or there's certain events like like the women
of Won. I know they had a nail bider to
win this past one right against France.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Is that who they be? But they've won eight straight
gold medals? Is that is that?

Speaker 3 (07:10):
I'm not really so that the competition is that bad
that that you can win eight gold medals in a row.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
I pooh pooh that. I don't think that there's much competition.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
I would say an Olympic five in a row, right, Yeah,
that's right, an Olympic gold medal for an American basketball player, right, that's.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
The end on your bullet point resume.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
They would start with league MVP, you know, three time champion, like,
it would start with that finals MVP. Yeah, and medalist right,
like the gold medal for a team USA player is
the and it's not the headliner. It's NBA Championships MVPs
like those individual hoters.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
Then you would get to the gold.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Everybody knows Michael Jordan's six for six in the NBA finals,
that's what that's right.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
Do you know how many gold medals does mj have?

Speaker 2 (08:03):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
Off the top of my head, I'm not sure, but
they know he won one? Six rings?

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Did he go? Did he win two? Did he go? Twine?

Speaker 4 (08:11):
You could play that game like you could throw out
throw out current NBA players like how many rings does
this guy have? And you could just rattle them off.
How many rings does staff have?

Speaker 5 (08:20):
For right?

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Like you just rattle them up? How many gold medals
does KG have? I have no idea. I don't know
how many exacts?

Speaker 7 (08:30):
You know?

Speaker 3 (08:30):
When I knew that the gold medal didn't have the
same meaning anymore. Is I had a gold medal, I
put it on the windshield of my call, went into
a restaurant, I came back out and there were three
gold medals there.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
I'm just saying.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
That should have been the follow up question for Mellow, right, is, uh,
would you give up that bronze for an NBA ring?

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Though?

Speaker 5 (08:54):
Mellow, would you do that? At least?

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Huh?

Speaker 5 (08:56):
Can we get make that transaction?

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I just I get it. I mean, if that's all
you have, you're gonna cove it. Right.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
And Rob, listen, I'm not mad at him.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
That's what he won player on the Olympics. He won
three gold medal. I'm not mad.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
That's great and it's meaningful. We're not saying it's meaning less.
Like think about Lebron. Lebron went to the women's gold
medal game the day after and he was wearing his
gold medal, Rob and I thought that was awesome. Somebody
looking at that like Lebron's looking for attention. It's a
flex But Rob, he had to work for that medal.

(09:36):
He's earned a lot of money in his time here
on earth. He can't buy a gold medal. He couldn't
buy a thirteen point comeback against Serbia.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
They had to earn that.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
Gold medal and that means something to him. And I
think that's awesome. And we're not saying a gold medal
doesn't mean anything, but for an individual legacy, it doesn't
mean nearly as much for an American as an NBA championship,
no doubts.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
It's just not even close.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
And and again I don't know, rob G, did you
hear any more of the podcast.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Was they a pushback at all?

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Because, Brian, No, that's one of my biggest issues with
some of these podcasts is no one you know, they
ask people a question, they.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Answer it, and there's no pushback, like like.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
I would love it's the barbershop thing like they hate
Lebron show because there's no pushback.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Ever, I tell you all that the barbershop, like I
own a barbershop for twenty two years, Brian, that's all
the barbershop is is pushed backtly.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
This pushback.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
You could come in with that shirt you have on,
that black shirt and somebody would say that's brown, that's
not black, right, that's what they say. The barbershop that
ain't Black's brown, Right, what are you talking about? Like
they don't agree on anything, and in the Lebron shop
they all second everything he says.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
Everybody agree with it.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Yeah, maybe that's why you wouldn't get him on the
podcast in the first first place. A lot of the
athletes just don't want pushback to the Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
But you cheat the listener, and that's all just the question.
You don't have to attack him, really, Mellow, you were
born in New York and you wouldn't want to help
the Knicks win their first championship since nineteen seventy three?

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Do you know how you would be elevated?

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Like I get the Olympics and all these other players
who played, but if you were to reason the Knicks
won a championship, you don't think that would put you
on a plateau like some of the great Joe Namath
played football in the sixties for the Jets. He's an
icon there, right, that's the last time the Jets won
a Super He's an icon.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Mellow would be a made man, There's no doubt about it,
you know, and that city, Rob we're talking of all
the major sports combined. It's been over one hundred seasons
since New York has had a championship, right, then the
Knicks have contributed to that, as.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
We all know, right, that's an unbelievable number.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
It really is. So yeah, not just for that city. Also,
you know, to have a championship again would be huge.
This is an underrated part of that same interview, Rob is,
normally I tune this stuff out when you hey, who's
your starting five all time? Normally I don't care at all, right,
but I thought this was kind of interesting. He was
asked in that same podcast, who is all time Olympics

(12:24):
starting five?

Speaker 5 (12:25):
Would be? Okay?

Speaker 4 (12:26):
And mellow said Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Charles Barkley.
I haven't heard Michael Jordan yet and himself.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
What No, Michael novj Jordan, No, is that unbelievable? There
you go, and of course the interviewers, Oh, that's a great.

Speaker 5 (12:48):
Yeah, that's a great. Yeah, that's funny. I had the same.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Thing, crazy, unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
We want to hear from you on this eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
It's real simple.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Are you buying what Carmelo Anthony is peddling because I'm
not buying it. I just can't buy it that he
wouldn't want an NBA championship and and that the gold
medals mean that much to him. Maybe you're a patriotic,
more patriotic than me and Brian know, and maybe it
really means something to you. And when the when the

(13:29):
Team USA won the goal, did you shed tears? Did
you wipe your tears with an American flag or a
napkin facts multi facsimile napkin that was red, white and blue?

Speaker 8 (13:42):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Did you get a big lump in your throat? I mean,
I just I'm sorry. It just doesn't move me or
move my needle. That winning an Olympic gold medal. So
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. It is a

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Making me feel like I'm in college back in the eighties.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
It is the odd couple on a trash talking Tuesday.
Rob you Bell Bottoms on Hey back then had the
shaggy fro. I was doing my thing in the eighties.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
What do you supposed about the eighties over there?

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Rob?

Speaker 2 (15:20):
You know you know what?

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Back then there were no ATMs, and man, we used
to just say if we had three dollars for the weekend,
that's all the money you had. Brian, That's right. There
was no bank open, no ATMs nothing. Odd couple on
a trash talking Tuesday. Ready for a new job. Let
Express Employment Professionals help. Express is hiring for jobs in

fee at Express. Check out expresspros dot com to find

Speaker 2 (15:54):
That's expresspros dot com.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
I'll telephone number eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Rock Parker and Brian Know in for Chris Broussard and uh,
Brian and I.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
We don't agree on everything, but we agree here.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Carmelo is selling wolf tickets in saying that he would
take his gold medals over an NBA title.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
What say you, Yeah, let's get out to the phones here, Rob.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
We got Sean in Sacramento. Sean, you're on the odd couple.

Speaker 10 (16:26):
Yeah, my uncle from another mother and missed the weekend.

Speaker 11 (16:29):
Brian.

Speaker 12 (16:30):
No, man, they got the gang back together on this one.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Brother, man.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
That's what it says on my underwear here, Sean, Brian's
from the weekends.

Speaker 10 (16:37):
Yeah, I'm just glad that you're wearing a pair today, sir.
But you got this topic. Man. First of all, where
are all the Rock Parker haters always, Hey, listen and
wait for them to come on. Wow, all that same
heat that they bring in you on Twitter, Ogi, But.

Speaker 13 (16:54):
Where are they?

Speaker 10 (16:55):
They quiet because they know that klap Bag is gonna
be ten times worse. And all you did was fi back.
So let me get back on topic real quick. Carmelo
is lying through his teas. That's like saying he doesn't
miss Lila Anthony. That's like Sagan he's proud being the
third best player from that draft. My man knows he
was never destined to win that championship because there were
so many other better players in his way that he's

(17:18):
resting on his laurels. Nobody even remembers how many gold
medals he had. And to be honest with you, we
remember teams in the Olympics, the Dream Team, the redeem Team,
that loser team Lebron was on, that guy Bron. All
those teams will go down in history, not necessarily the players.
And I was just like you, Roles hate watching that
game too. I know you had that baby oil and

(17:38):
that cigarette lit watching Lebron as Steph Curry possibly lose
that game. But it's Okayog, there's always next year.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Brothers, No doubt. Thanks Sean.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Sean from Sacramento appreciated eight seven to seven ninety nine
on Fox.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
All right, Rob, let's go over to Brandon. He's in riverside. Brandon,
what's up man, you're on the odd couple.

Speaker 10 (17:58):
Hey guys, how you doing rock welcome back?

Speaker 13 (18:01):
Haven't seen you well? Heard from you?

Speaker 12 (18:03):
Yes, I got a good time.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Yes, Brandon, thank you, buddy.

Speaker 12 (18:08):
That's good And the first time you ever call it
with Brian Olans show. I'm honored today, man, very cool. Yeah, dude,
But yeah, Carmelo, he is out of his as my
grandmother would tell me your cotton steak in mind, if
you was to get a world championship with the New

(18:28):
York Knicks, it would be way celebrated, way better in
the US Olympic that we.

Speaker 13 (18:36):
Always went pretty much because people just write USA in anyway,
regardless of the.

Speaker 12 (18:41):
Team that we got out. Not to say it's not honored,
not to say it's not hu you know.

Speaker 13 (18:47):
Celebrated anything.

Speaker 12 (18:48):
But he is like completely out thinking that winning Olympic.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
Basketball metal gold medal over a national.

Speaker 13 (19:00):
Emmy for the world whatever the championship.

Speaker 12 (19:03):
Here are Nicks. It's not like he's in track and field,
those guys.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Yes, right, in track and field because they don't have
a league.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
There's no league here for them, so right right, thanks
for the call, Brian, I mean, Brandon, appreciate it, Brian,
am I right. They don't have a league, so for them,
that's their stage, right Vegas?

Speaker 5 (19:22):
For the highest stage?

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Yeah, yes, the highest level you could reach. Sure, yeah,
it's not for American basketball in Olympic gold is not
the highest level you can reach.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
It's just just isn't. We got Sean in or again?
Up next? Sean? What's up?

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Man?

Speaker 5 (19:37):
You're on the odd couple.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Hey, Carmelo is just exaggerating the importance of a gold
medal in basketball.

Speaker 13 (19:43):
Because he don't have one in the NBA. And what
you guys saying, it just.

Speaker 12 (19:47):
Comes down to what you're talking about. That's not the
biggest stage like it is for some of these other sports.
And they're not playing against they're not playing against the
best competitions.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
No, not at all.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
And and when you win track and field, you know,
in the Olympics, those are the best runners in the world,
you know what I mean, Like you're not you don't
go back home and go into the one hundred track league.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
Or something.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
And when you're playing every other race and every other weekend,
I mean, it's a big deal and basketball just not
on that level.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
And that's the thing though, Rob, is we're talking specifically
for Team USA, who's won five straight gold medals and
well decorated. If this is again like Jokic with Team Serbia,
there's an argument to be made that winning gold would
mean more to him. Serbia doesn't have the history in

(20:38):
Olympic basketball that the US, and it would all.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
It would be about him that he led his country.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
That's right over the greatest players in the world and
the Olympics.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Are you kidding?

Speaker 4 (20:49):
That'd be huge for him, and I would argue that
would be bigger than winning an NBA ring with the
Nuggets now. But when it comes to Team USA specifically, no,
there's no rument that it means more than an NBA ring.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
It's just eight seven, seven, ninety nine of five.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
All right, We've got troll in a roll and coming
up next with him, mister Martin Weiss, will do that
for first.

Speaker 14 (21:11):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
Hey, Rob, real fast, what do you think about the
Steelers getting aggressive and trying to make a move for.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
A it know what?

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Very unusual, all right, very unusual and maybe just being
having a record over five hundred maybe that's gotten old
and tired. Yeah, and they want to win again. It's
been a while, right, it's been a while.

Speaker 5 (21:40):
But yeah, very out of character.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
They normally just draft a guy in the third round
who's awesome for a decade, you know, to make a
move like this, Yeah, I think you're right. I think
they're tired of spinning their wheels. It's not good enough
just to have a winning record, damage in the playoffs,
and they haven't.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
Been good when they've gotten in the playoffs. They've just
they've really been bad.

Speaker 5 (21:58):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
It is the couple coming to you live from the
Tirack dot Com studios, Rob Parker, Brian Know in for
Chris Brussato's on vacation, and you know what, Brian knows
time for trolling or rolling with Martin Weiss.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
I think Tom Brady he's done. Aaron Rodgers did not
have a Pro Bowl season. Trying to kiss me. It's
trolling or rolling.

Speaker 13 (22:29):
That's right, trolling rolling. I'm Martin White, So I'll bring
it down for you real quick. Brian knows you don't
do this every week. I'll explain if you guys like
the story that I read you with the roll song,
they see me. If they don't like, I don't like,
Brian will actually rob questions about the Steelers during my set.

Speaker 5 (22:51):
I love that you said that.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
I immediately thought, oh, shoot, this is Martin's thing, right,
I shouldn't be doing that.

Speaker 13 (22:57):
Yeah, well, Brian, no, justs case that is you, You'll
go ahead and trolling.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Oh man, hey, hey, hey, oh good.

Speaker 13 (23:06):
My friend Jim Harbaugh left Michigan and with swirls of
la rumors of punishment flying around, Harball turned down an
offer to be an honorary captain for the Wolverines at
a home game this season, Ron Parker, get us started
here trolling and rolling Harbaugh. We're ejecting the opportunity to
be an honorary captain.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
I'm rolling with it.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
They see me, and you know what, you know, shame
or Michigan for even trying to squeeze that in and
all that he's the coach.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Of the Chargers. Now leave it be.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
You had your championship, the first one since Moby Dick
was a guppy. Enjoy it and rather than being a
distraction with the NCAA and all the other stuff, Jim
Harbaugh decided to stay home. I think his parents will
be there. So I'm loving this all the way.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
I am.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Yeah, I'm rolling with it too, because this dude has
been such a.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Bold hold on your roller.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
They yep, sorry, but yeah, I'm rolling with it because
he's just gonna be a distraction if he shows up there.
We know he's lying through his teeth. We know he
knows about the cheating scandal and stealing signs and all
of that sould just be a distraction. Stay away from there.
Let Michigan do its thing against Fresno State. It's better

(24:18):
not to go there.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
It's too hot right now.

Speaker 13 (24:21):
Completely agree which Michigan would just leave it alone.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
Oh my god, you got what you wanted, right Martin, Mike,
leave it exactly.

Speaker 12 (24:30):
Go'll polish the ring.

Speaker 13 (24:32):
Trolling the rolling high A couple of Fox Sports Radio
Defaul Marlbury was quarts azed right at least the last
two games in the Olympics, and that may have colored
his respective onness. When Starburry says that Stephan Curry, not
Lebrera James, should have been the Olympic MVP, Rob Parker
tona rolling Steph Curry is the real MVP.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
I'm trolling it, oh many. As great as stuff was
in those final two games, he was averaging seven points
coming into that, and I get it, the big close out,
that's what you think. But he didn't play that well
leading up to that, and it's about the whole tournament.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
It just is.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
I remember the year they gave Kobe the finals MVP, Bri.
I know you remember that. Kobe in game seven against
the Celtic shots six for twenty two and won the
finals MVP because he had played so well through the
first five games, I think, and they factored everything in
even though the closeout game was a bad one.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
So I'm i'm I'm I'm trolling it. Stephane was not
the MVP.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
I'm rolling with Starvas No, it's I hear you, Rob,
I get it. Steph Curry didn't do much of anything
the first four games, but those last two were so special,
so spectacular, even though Rob technically looks at it not
being clutch shooting with three of those final four shots.
The French commentators are calling him the devil. Those were

(25:58):
the signature mons of the whole basketball tournament against Serbia
against France, thirty six twenty four points, seventeen to three
pointers combined in two games. Yeah, they don't survive against Serbia.
If not for Steph Curry, they don't even get to
the gold medal game. So I go, Steph MVP. I'm

(26:18):
with Starberry.

Speaker 13 (26:20):
Throwing a couple of Fox Sports rob We want to
make sure you get to note in that he didn't
any clutch shots.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
No, I was gonna say that, but anytime you Brian
know a guy selling up leather sneakers for nine dollars,
you probably shouldn't go with that guy.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
I'm just.

Speaker 5 (26:38):
They just rock about everything.

Speaker 8 (26:40):
Now.

Speaker 11 (26:40):
Yeah, hey people, Hey, people need shoes. Man, shoot now
tell me if people need this. Throwing a high a
couple of Fox Sports Radio. Titans quarterback Bill Levis the
unquestioned starter in.

Speaker 13 (26:53):
Tennessee this season, but just in case that doesn't work out,
he's got a back up player. Er announced today that
Levis has launched a new cologne line. HEO scented. That's right,
mayonnaise scented cologne, lamb panther trolling or rolling mayonnaise scented cologne.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
I'm trolling it, oh many. And now I.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Will admit there are plenty of hams out there that
will probably wear it and it'll.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
Work out nicely for them.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
But I'm one hundred percent beef, So I'm not going
with the mayonnaise.

Speaker 5 (27:27):
You got wing flavored cologne over there? Robins that. I mean,
what I know? You love your all flats?

Speaker 2 (27:33):
See it all flats bright every time we go out?
What am I eating?

Speaker 5 (27:36):
You know right? Hashtag all flats? You know it?

Speaker 4 (27:40):
I gotta troll this, oh many? Hey, I mean Will
Levis loves him some mayonnaise. That's fine, he's leaned in.
He's created an untapped market, I guess. But who wants
to smell mayonnaise scented cologne? That can't work for anybody.

Speaker 5 (27:57):
So I go thumbs down on this one.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
Mark you're getting some?

Speaker 4 (28:01):
Are you?

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Are you getting some?

Speaker 13 (28:03):
About? To say, Brian? If that isn't untapped to market,
it needs to be made and untapped market. That's not
every capital workers curved ound me.

Speaker 11 (28:12):
I get it.

Speaker 13 (28:13):
I trying to make a dollar. But Hey, not all
money has good money? Is that that is bad money
right there?

Speaker 3 (28:18):
That that sounds like bad money, rob g are you
into mayonnaise that much?

Speaker 7 (28:22):
Or it would have to be like I mean, I
love mayonnaise, but not enough to want to smell like mayonnaise?

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Right?

Speaker 4 (28:28):
And what kind of what kind of food or condiment
flavored or scented cologne?

Speaker 5 (28:34):
Would you want?

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Barbecue sauce? Okay, it's like a mesquite barbecue sauce. You
go with gallic paumajean because I usually have it all
over my mouth, you know what I'm saying?

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Wow, Gig Alex, you don't need that one.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
I'm gonna save that one. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
I had a glassy in my mouth.

Speaker 13 (28:57):
Alex would probably have his be uh you know, goji
berry tended with the hits of strawberry and blueberry.

Speaker 5 (29:03):
I'm actually a fan of Sea moss lately. But thank you, Martin.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Seems this is there you go.

Speaker 5 (29:10):
That is another untapped market.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
I would have to say, unbelievable.

Speaker 13 (29:13):
We learned something market that needs to stay tapped, Brian,
another market.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
No doubt, Martin.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Why what time can we check you out on Fox
Sports Radio this coming weekend Friday?

Speaker 13 (29:26):
Me and me. Jay Husky would be filling in for
Jass his best friend Mike harmon Friday night and then
Saturday evening from eight to eleven Eastern.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
I'm your guy, and you know what, Brian, Brian, I
never missed the Martin and VJ Show.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
You never miss it now one time I never listened,
So I never missed.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
All right, Martin, don't Monty player? Thanks man, appreciate you.
All right, boys, Yeah, no doubt. All right?

Speaker 3 (29:57):
Is it a revenge tour on the way in the NBA?
That's the question we're asking you. We'll talk about that next.
It is The Odd Couple on a Trash Talking Tuesday,
Rob Parker Brian Know right here.

Rob Parker Brian No in for the vacation in Chris
Brusard and Brian. Shortly after the show, our podcast will

Speaker 2 (31:09):
So, Rob, g.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Explain what we're talking about when we talk about this
revenge tour that may be on the horizon for Jason
Tatum and Jalen Brown.

Speaker 7 (31:21):
Well, it is twofold, Rob. As you mentioned, Jason Tatum
got a couple of dmpcds in the Olympics, which led
to everybody from Stephen A. Smith to Jason Tatua's mom
venting about his lack of playing time and had him
openly questioning whether or he would come back for the
twenty twenty eight games. Well, twenty four hours later, Brad

(31:44):
Stevens spoke to The Boston Globe, not about Tatum, but
about Jaylen Brown getting snub by the Olympic team, and
steven said that that snub is going to quote fuel
his fire for the upcoming season. So got me, guys,
is it possible or even likely that we will see

(32:04):
a revenge tour from these Boston Celtics Jason datm Jaylen
Brown coming off their first NBA championship.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
Mister know, I I don't buy it because listen, if
this was an NBA player that was talking smack about
the Celtics, or this was a team that was doubting
them within the NBA. Fine, I get that if they
still hadn't won a ring and this is they're completely

(32:34):
fired up.

Speaker 5 (32:34):
Yeah, but I'm supposed to believe.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
They're gonna be ignited because Tatum didn't get playing time
in two games and Brown wasn't even on the team.
Is Brown's focus gonna be Nike? You know what I mean,
He's just gonna take the court. Oh, this is for Nike.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
You know.

Speaker 5 (32:50):
I just don't think so.

Speaker 4 (32:51):
I think, especially with younger players, I think they don't
hold on to things as much. I'm supposed to believe
that when March rolls around or April the playoffs, they're
still gonna be hanging on to what happened with US
Olympic basketball. I just don't buy that at all.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
And your spot on it's just it's too fresh in
the moment. Prisoner of the moment, So you can talk
about that now.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
I'm with you. No way as a long NBA season.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
Is going on that they're gonna be worried about that.
It just doesn't make any sense. Yeah, it sounds good.
It makes for It makes for a nice sandwich. That
and some mayonnaise cologne. You know, it makes for a
nice sandwich.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
I guess that means that Hyres Halliburton is gonna go crazy.

Speaker 5 (33:34):
He's gonna have a right.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Yeah, he didn't play, so watch out for the Pacers,
right like, I just don't think that that adds up.
You said it best, rob Its here and now it's
prisoner of the moment.

Speaker 5 (33:45):
I don't think.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
Do you think that's gonna be on your mind when
the playoffs roll around? Is that even gonna be a story?
Is there gonna be a media guy that says, hey,
look out for the Celtics. Remember Tatum didn't play in
those two games, and Jalen Brown wasn't even on the team.
So I got the Celtics moving through the East. That's
gonna be such a distant memory.

Speaker 5 (34:04):
No, there's no no.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Doubt, rob Gee, where you got something?

Speaker 7 (34:07):
No, I got a question for you guys, because it
seems like you agree that this idea of a revenge
tour is kind of far fetched, to say the least.
Here's another question. Which of those two guys, Tatum and
Brown do you think is feeling saltier heading in this office?

Speaker 3 (34:23):
Jalen Brown, I would be salty. Three of my teammates
are on the Olympic team. I'm the one that won
the finals, Brian MVP.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
And when they.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Replaced a player, right, it was Kawhi Leonard, who.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
He plays more like.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
Right, So again say, oh, well we needed this to
add to our Well, you were good with Kawhi Leonard,
but now when Jalen Brown should have been the replacement
easily and the whole Nike thing and just the way
it was handled, there's no doubt in my mind to
me that Jalen Brown is the one we've got who's

(35:02):
more hot under the collar about this.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
Yeah, I think so too. I think that they both
have reason to be miffed.

Speaker 5 (35:10):
Or Jason Tatum's gonna look at this and be like.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
I am a three time All NBA First Team player
and I got DNPS in two games, right, Like, I
think he could feel a certain way about that. When
your mom comes out and she's you know, protective mama
bear on this thing, like, yeah, they're not used to
dnps while healthy. But yeah, it's Brown. He wasn't even

(35:34):
on the squad. At least you got a gold medal.
If you're Tatum, you still get on the floor and
four other games and contributed. But for Jalen Brown not
to be out there, I'll tell you what, I think
somebody else might be miffed. If I'm Derek White, I
would be a bit miffed because Jalen Brown didn't just
let it go. It's like, bro, I'm your teammatemate over here.

(35:54):
I don't know why Jalen Brown just kept on going
out there in the public. If there was some play
from the Spurs who got on the team USA instead
of Jalen Brown, Okay, but it's his own teammate and
Derek White, I didn't think Jalen Brown did his teammate
any any good by continuing to be labor the fact
he wasn't on the squad.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Yeah, it was. It was. It was tough.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
I just and I think we already know that politics
play a part in a lot of these things, and
when you're only picking a handful of players. They're gonna
be players that get snubbed, right, everybody can't make the team, Brian,
I get that, But it was so easy to pick
Jalen Brown.

Speaker 5 (36:32):
Yeah it was.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
It was so easy and nobody would have flinched.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
Right.

Speaker 5 (36:36):
What about you, real fast, Robert? Were you big into
the Olympics? You enjoy him for those two weeks?

Speaker 1 (36:41):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (36:42):
No, I'm not that big in the Olympics. I used
to watch. I'm just keeping it real.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
I watched the highlights, you know, more so than than
watching every minute of every game. I just I used
to and then I kind of got away from it,
and so I just keep my own it because obviously
I to have to talk about it, and I'm interested
in to a certain extent, but I'm not riveted.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
I mean, did you Were you riveted to everything?

Speaker 11 (37:06):
Man?

Speaker 4 (37:06):
I was all over it, Rob, I was. You know,
I don't care what it is. If you train for
four years in whatever sport you play and the stakes
are that high, I'm watching, you know, I'm gonna check
that out and just to see them perform at the
highest level with that much pressure. Think about that, Rob,
If you had worked day in and day out for

(37:27):
four years, and this is your moment, you know what
I mean. I just love them and it's quick. It's
two weeks and they're done. So yeah, I was all
over it. And I was betting on it too.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
That probably oh there you go, bingo, there it is.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
Yep, there's always the magical licks sort of magical moment,
and these last three hours were magical.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Mister Brian know, it's.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
Great hanging with you, Rob always, no doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
Hashtag all flats next time I'm in La Okay, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
We got to do that. Coming up next. Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon. Uh, they follow us here on Fox Sports Radio,
so you know what

Speaker 2 (38:05):
