our man Elijah Sepbouna, and on the ones and twos
doing their thing.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
It is none other than.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
That's right, Mary, Mary, all right, let's get right, don't forget.
Oh yeah, the super producer, My bad, robb Gi. You
should see his face right now. Robbie don't care about
that stuff. But my bad, that was an honest mistake, Robgi.
So of course he's running things in the house.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
All right.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Steve Young, the great Hall of Fame quarterback, was recently
on the radio in San Francisco and he was lamenting.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
You know, he's a guy that won a.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Super Bowl as you know, as the as the guy
won two others with Joe Montana as Mantana's backup. But
he was lamenting what's going going on with the San
Francisco forty nine ers, and I gotta be honest. Look,
I like the Niners, you know, I like Purdy. I
don't like the vibes I'm getting right now. Trent Williams

(05:12):
is sitting out, wants a bigger contract, contract extension, and
his declared and he won't play until he gets it.
Of course, Brandon I has asked for a trade unless
he gets paid, and that hasn't worked out, so we
don't know how that's going to end. But Steve Young

(05:33):
was saying that, hey, maybe these guys should think about
winning more than money.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Here he is.

Speaker 7 (05:39):
That's where the agents got to be able to figure
out a way to bring that player to see the
values other than the dollars, to see the things that
you keep in context, bro that there's a lot of
great players out there that are playing with brutal teams
that have no chance to see the full measure of
who they could be as a player.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
And that's not you, all right, VJ. Your thoughts.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
I like Steve Young, so I'll start there, and I
think he always speaks well about the game of football
and currently in football. But I didn't like this, and
that's because I think they know Steve that they have
a chance to win. They've been to the Super Bowl.
Some of these guys have been twice and they've come
up short both times. But in the business of pro sports,
we talked about this yesterday about God's getting their bread.

(06:25):
You have to get your money because this game isn't long.
This game isn't cond of your body. It ain't cond
of your joints, your ligaments, your bones. It's not kind
to your brain. So you got to get your money
and get paid. And if I'm Trent Williams, for instance,
right to me, best left tackle in the league, so
I want to be paid. Is that Brandon Nyuk? Hey,
I'm a big part of this. Don't act like I'm not.

Speaker 6 (06:45):
Now.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
I don't think Brandayuk is thirty million, thirty five million,
thirty three million.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
That type of guy.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
But he's he's worth more than what he's making right now,
and he only wants to be paid fairly, Chris, for
his services and what he brings to the team. And
this kind of falls into the line, Chris, you know,
old school gezus to tell us a man never comments
on another man's pockets. You know what I'm saying, This
kind of fell there for me because I believe that
they know that there's some guys on bats.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
If you don't think everybody in Carolina, Yeah, we're gonna
go out and play hard.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
We're gonna go out on busfr butt, but we have
no shot at winning the super Bowl this year. They
know that, So I don't need a veteran to reiterate
on that. I would actually like it if he said, look,
they're about winning, we know it. Let's get these guys
paid so we don't have to go through all of
this and we have to talk about this. I think
he kind of missed the boat on this one. It's
kind of like old guy kind of banging on the
younger the younger generation. But I think Chris, they know

(07:37):
what's at stake, they know what they have to do,
and they know the position that they're in. They didn't
hate him to say it. And I think the other
thing is this, and I hear where he's coming from.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
I'm not mad at anither.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Yeah, this is a team where they are feeling the
pressure they need to win the super Bowl this year.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
And from they that means Kyle Shannahan on down.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
Because Kyle Shanahan, as we know we've seen him, whether
it was as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons
in that game where they gave up the twenty eight
to three lead to the Tom Brady and his offense.
He made some boneheaded mistakes, and of course he had
the lead against the Chiefs with Jimmy Garoppolo's quarterback and

(08:29):
all of a sudden didn't want to run the football
when they had a great running game and that's what
it carried them to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
And the same thing.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
You know, he had a chance this year to beat
the Chiefs and came up short. So Kyle Shanahan, as
great of an offensive mind as he is, his play
calling in the Super Bowls, particularly late in those Super Bowls,
is under question.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yeah, questionable, right, yes, sir.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
And then we know this team, they got all these
high priced guys, and if brock Perdy gets paid, and
right now all indications are that he will next year,
they're gonna lose some of those guys.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
So that's another reason they need to win it now.
And then finally, VJ.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
They've been knocking on the door for the past five
years and when they've been healthy, they've been right there
and they haven't gotten over the hump, and mentally and emotionally,
that can wear you down after a while. If you
don't get over that hill, it can beat you down mentally.
So they need to get it done now. So I
get where Steve Young is coming from. But here's what

(09:37):
I say, and I echo what you said about is
these dudes need to get paid. This is not forever.
And the thing is this as well. We know look, ultimately,
this is a job for these guys and they.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Want to win.

Speaker 6 (09:53):
Now.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
I don't question that any of these guys want to win,
but at the same time, they want to get paid
and take care of their families. And I know people
Trent Williams his last deal was I think six years,
one hundred and thirty eight million, So people are like, well,
he got plenty of money, and that's true, and he
should have enough to last a lifetime.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
But these guys do retire early. Just in general.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Even if you Lebron James is gonna be done playing
basketball at what forty two years old?

Speaker 2 (10:25):
That's young. He might have that younger than me. I
think that's younger than you too, Like you got a whole.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Life, right, You've got a whole life to live and
again they have enough money. But still that's why when
they play the game, they do want to make a
ton of money. And here's where I'll make the distinction.
I'll add this that you didn't say for Trent Williams
as a left tackle and Brandon Ayuk as a receiver.

(10:54):
Yes they want to win the Super Bowl. Yes they
want to be champions, but let's just keep it real.
Winning a Super Bowl does not impact the legacy of
position players.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
At all the way it does for quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
Right, yeah, I mean it just Randy Moss is viewed
as one of the greatest receivers ever, never won a
Super Bowl and it doesn't impact his legacy at all.
Calvin Johnson Tyreek Hill left the Super Bowl team.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
They went on to win two more Super Bowls without him,
But he made the right decision. VJ. He had to
go get paid. Even if he didn't have that Super Bowl,
he still would have made the right decision. Now I think.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
He's gonna have to play regardless if they don't pay him.
It makes no sense for him to sit out because
he won't get his fourteen million.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Dollars, which is a significant chunk of change. That's what
he's old.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
This year, he won't get that and he won't accrue
time the free agency, so he'll be in the same
position next so it won't benefit him to sit out.
So I think he's gonna have to play either way.
But I just think that's something that's the business man.
I'm not mad as Steve Young for being like, man, look,
we got.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
A chance to win.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
It's special, and he's right, but quarterbacks get the lion's
share of the credit for winning Super Bowls. Yep, And
so I'm not I understand these dudes putting the money first.

Speaker 5 (12:27):
Absolutely, And to talk about the pressure point that you're
talking about, there is a lot of pressure. I thought
there was pressure on Shanahan last year. I thought that
if they lost that game or got blown out, if
they decided to move on from Shanahan, I wouldn't have
been mad at the front office, because yeah, because there
were Remember John Lynch and that front office made a
statement before the season started that you know, everybody's kind

(12:49):
of you know on egg shows, we gotta go get
this done. We can't just keep getting to the conference
championship game. I'll point something out too, about the pressure
of their schedule they have two strings of games where
it's Cowboys at the Bucks home against Seattle, at the
Packers at the Bills. That's a heavy five game stretch,
and then they finish off Rams at the Dolphins, Lions
at the Cards. So if they don't have these guys,

(13:11):
this could If they got these guys, they're thirteen and four,
they're fourteen and three. But if they don't have these guys, Okay,
now the NFC is now shook up. But I think
guys show up and play. I think they get these
deals done because you just can't have two starters Chris
out trying to go to a Super Bowl and repeat
what you did. One do you think is most important

(13:31):
for this offense? Is gonna be Trick Williams for me,
because they got to be able to run the ball.
They got to be able to run the ball.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
His past block. Yeah, because the rest of that line
isn't that strung.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
Yeah, if you look at their skill positions, you got
who wants some of Deebo Samuel Right, Okay, so they
got McCaffrey, the you got Kittled. That's three are used
to fourth. He's not better than any of those three guys.
You would agree with that.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Look, a few years ago, I believe Deebo Samuel was
the best football player. Yeah, just period football right in
the league. I don't think that anymore. The injuries have
taken the toll. I think I Yuk is their number
one receive really, yeah, I got you. Still so much
that Debo can do for your offense though, Yeah, but

(14:13):
he's not really doing that anymore, you know. I mean
he doesn't run it as much. I think Ayuk is
a better receiver. I think Debo is, Like I said,
he's a terrific football player. And I'm not trying to
disparage me. I feel you, but I do think at
this point I.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Yuk is probably better.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
But I agree with you that they of these two,
it's Trent you take yeah, you take care of tackle
for yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
And we talked about pressure.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Well, the quarterback is facing as much, I think as
anybody in the league.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
And that's next.

Speaker 4 (14:46):

tribe called question.

Speaker 5 (16:23):
So let me ask you this. Did you did you
flow back in the day? Did you wrap now? Real talk?
I tried. I tried, but I ain't really had no
spits like that.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
I did try.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
When I was probably about fourteen fifteen years old, I
had there was a rap group at Garfield High School.
It was me and two other my Man Germany Turner
and montrees Ham. So it was actually they flew out
here for my wedding too, that's how long we've been friends.
We had a little group, man, but it was just
by the lockers, you know, during the lunch period and stuff.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
Somebody was nice noah, no, no, I no I was.
I was not nice or no, no, I wasn't nice.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
I was.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
I had about I had about one sheet of wraps,
and but once I went through those, I ain't really
I had nothing left. And the guy was battling. He
kept going, oh you battled, Oh yeah, we battled in
the hallway in the locker back. Yeah, kept going, and
he kept going, and they they was yo, go V
get him. I was like, uh yo yo.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Check what.

Speaker 5 (17:18):
So I knew right there? Yeah, in between the lockers.
Uh yeah, I couldn't think of nothing wrong with lockers.
And that was the end of my RAP career.

Speaker 6 (17:26):
All right.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Well, look, we were talking about the pressure that the
San Francisco forty nine ers are under this year to
win the Super Bowl, starting with Kyle Shanahan. Uh And
look John Lynch as well, and I look, you mentioned
earlier that you thought they could have got rid of
Shanahan a year or two ago.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
After last year, okay, after so after they lost to
the Chief.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Absolutely, see I I think Shannahan is the coach for
this team for the foreseeable future.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
I mean, the dude is a very good coach.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Yes, I get and I mentioned his shortcomings in the
big moments, he hasn't been able to get them over
the hump.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
But I wouldn't I.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
Would not be thinking about firing, you know, I wouldn't
be thinking about getting rid of him. I guess if
it keeps going on and he can't, you know, and
he's in those big moments and can't Deliver.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
I thought last year, you know, it just didn't go
their way.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
I mean, we know in Atlanta when he was the
offensive coordinator for the Falcons that he has to bear
a lot of the brunt for that loss, as he
does with the loss to the Chiefs in the first
Super Bowl when they met in twenty twenty. I believe
it was, but this one, I don't put it all.
I don't you know, remember any really egregious play calling

(18:48):
mistakes and things like that.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
I do.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Yeah, okay, which one?

Speaker 5 (18:53):
Okay, if you're the offensive guy, you have to scheme. Right,
They're two passes that Party misses that were his fault.
Now I know Chris Jones is a certified fault or weren't.
They weren't Party's fault because he missed He missed the
receiver two times, both white over touchdowns to the Super Bowl.
And it's because Chris Jones just did what Chris Jones do.
It's certified beasts. But as an offensive minded coaching the coordinator,

(19:16):
you have to scheme for that. I don't care how
good that guy is. He can't go one on one.
You cannot have it to where there's this certain play
that you're going one on one with the game's best
defensive lineman. Okay, and Aaron Donald's older now right, Aaron
Donald's retired.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
It's it's now him. It's not Ce Jones. And twice
in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
It's a schematic mistake, and I can only blame the
quarter of the coach, not unless it comes out that
the lineman went the wrong way. Okay, fine, but I
gotta hear that. And when I see him one on
one and blow the play up and causes Perty to
miss two wide open receivers that probably would have won
that Super Bowl. I put that on Shanahan because it's
your offense, and when I see the best guy going

(19:56):
one on one, you cannot have that. I'm double team
and Chris Joe somebody else gotta beat me CB. Basically,
it's kind of what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
He didn't.

Speaker 5 (20:04):
He didn't schematically put that together. I thought those two
players lost the game for him, So I'll put that
on him.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Okay, Well, let's get to Purty. Yes, this is a
huge year for me.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
We know he hasn't been paid, he's making he's not
even making a million dollars this year, Okay, and he
has been terrific. I think like the start of his
career has been incredible. Right his passer rating is at
an all is an all time high. Obviously hasn't played
enough games to qualify for it, you know, in the

(20:38):
in the record books, if you will, But so far
he's at an all time high in terms of passer rating,
one of the best ever.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
And obviously he's gotten him to the NFC Championship.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
Game and the Super Bowl. But this year we talked
about the pressure on him to win. If he doesn't
have a great year, then do they hesitate to him?
Because right now, to talk is he's gonna get a
deal worth basically about sixty million dollars a year. And
when you pay a guy that then he's your guy

(21:12):
and he's expected to carry your team, regardless of what
talent is around you.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
And I am a Brock Party fan.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
I don't think you can step in and do the
things he's done if you're not a very good quarterback.
But I'm just saying right now, this year, he has
got to get it done or that money might not
be there at the end of this season for him.

Speaker 6 (21:39):
Now, I.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
The pressure to me is more on Shannonhan than it
is party. They won't move on from Brock Party because
of the price. Right, he's making two nine thirty four
k is what his base salary is.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
But I'm saying he ain't gonna be making that all along, like, right,
and now they could he could. I believe they don't
have to pay him after this year. They're just able
to pay him after this exactly. But I mean at
some point, I'm just saying he's gonna cost some money, exactly.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
But I think you pay him.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
And I don't think he has a bague last year
forty two, eighty sixty nine, thirty one and eleven as
far as touchdowns, and I and T's go plays very
well in the system, doesn't lose them games, and we
didn't have certain people like the Cleveland game last year
in the rain in the monsoon, but once again no debo, right,
so you're missing one of your weapons there.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
I think he plays well this year. I think he's still.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
Gonna get paid because we're if you once again, as
we spoke about yesterday, if they wait, it's going to
cost him more in twenty twenty six, right, So if
they don't pay him after twenty twenty four, going to
twenty twenty five, and you want to wait till twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
If he has another good year.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
Now you're looking at sixty six, sixty seven because we
know Stroud's gonna get then other deal.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
We know there's other quarterbacks coming right behind him.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
But you're already sold on him because I look, I
said with Trevor Lawrence and with Tua, like we talked
about too yesterday, I was like two. I was like, look,
I personally am not sold. I need to see another
healthy year and another great year and then I'll gladly
pay him. And I know it would cost me a
little more, but I would do that for my peace

(23:13):
of mind. I felt the same way with Trevor Lawrence.
We know he hasn't lit the league on fire. Yeah
he said these moments he was you know, second year
was his best season, but it wasn't phenomenal.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
He has an under five hundred record, right, So I'm like.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
I wanted to see another year and I would pay
him more if I have to, just to make sure
this is the guy. I'm surprised you're already and I like,
you know you've heard me on first things first, on
this show, I like pretty a lot, but I still
want to see another really big season before I'm saying

(23:46):
he's a sixty million dollar man.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (23:49):
Last year, you were the first, you know, big television
personality name that called him. You said he was the
real deal. You're one of the first guys that stepped out.
Was like, no, Brock's the real deal. Everybody was still
kind of waffling waiting to see you took a hard
stay on that. I'm taking a hard stance on it
because I'm at the tape. Don't lie like the kid
is legit. I'm off the waiting for Brock Party train.
Now it's okay, you're gonna have to pay this guy

(24:09):
next year. If they go twelve and five, they go
thirteen and four, you're gonna have to pay this guy.
Regardless of what happens in the playoffs, you're gonna have
to pay him. Oh yeah, next he's already proved, He's
already proven himself.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
No, I'm I'm in on. I'm in on brock Perty
all right.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Well, speaking of Rock Party, another guy that likes him
a lot, friend of the show Fox Sports Radio Weekend, superstar,
former NFL offensive lineman and have a little hoop game
back in his day, or so he says our man.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
He from Salim, what's up man.

Speaker 6 (24:43):
Doing?

Speaker 2 (24:43):
What's up? You're good? We got VJ.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
Husky in what's good?

Speaker 2 (24:47):
What's up? Scrapper?

Speaker 4 (24:49):
That's my guy, that's my guy. So from we were
talking about the pressure on the forty nine ers this
year to get it done. And there are a lot
of things you can look at. Kyle Shanahan's failure in
atlant As, the OC against Tom Brady the two times.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
In the Super Bowls, hasn't been able to get over.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
Humped, the fact that Purdy's gonna get paid next year,
and you know they might lose some of their big stars.
But also I was talking about, Look, they've been knocking
on the door for five years and haven't been able
to push it through. I think that mentally and emotionally,
if they don't get it done this year, that can

(25:30):
also wear on a team and eventually maybe bowl you over.
How much of a factor is that when you're a
team that's close, close, close, but you never get over
the hump at some point, does that really take a
team down?

Speaker 7 (25:46):
Well?

Speaker 6 (25:46):
Yeah, and just if you guys watched that terrific doc
on receivers, yes on Netflix you saw some of that.
You saw at the beginning of that doc how they
ended didn't win and they were held bent on getting back.
That was the through line, you know. Kittle was like,

(26:07):
I'm coming back. I'm winning, deebo, I'm coming back. We're winning.
And then to get back there again and not win. Yeah,
it weighs on you. It it's like a weight on
your chest because you start to think, no matter how
good you play this year during the regular season, it
doesn't matter. And you got to remember, for the last

(26:28):
five years or so, they've been one of the best
teams in the league. So the regular season they've been
you know, kicking button, taking names to no avail. So
that begins to wear on you. Right, The attention to
detail in the regular season isn't always there because you
know that you're going to be good in the regular season.

(26:51):
It's just the playoffs, so it can play with your
mind a lot.

Speaker 5 (26:54):
You're absolutely right, right, Husky here man, we already said
our hello and all mens, So let's get to this.
Brandon and I you part of this team. Chris and
I were just talking. I have him as their as
their fourth option. Offensively, you have Christian McCaffrey, in my opinion,
best all around back in football. You have George Kittle
tight end, top three tight ends certified. You got who

(27:14):
wants some ofdebo, Samuel I got him as a top six,
top seven receiver all around in football, And you kind
of just feels like they almost feel like they might
be able to do what they're doing if they got
somebody that they could plug in, you know what I'm saying,
or this deal would have been this deal would have
been done. And Jennings is a guy that they look
at that might be able to do this. In your
in your eyes, what's going on with this deal with

(27:36):
Auk And would you would have traded him already if
you felt like Jennings could step in and do his
and do his part.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
Well, Look, I mean they have all the leverage. I
don't know what's going on with Brandon and Ayuka. I mean,
they they offered him some money, he didn't like it.
They got some trade for him, he didn't want to
go there. They said, Okay, we'll pay some more money.
He didn't like that either. So at this point, if
I'm the forty nine ers, I'm focusing on what we
talked about with Chris's question is the super Bowl and

(28:04):
how do we get back there and how do we win?
I can't continue to drag this thing out. If he goes,
he goes.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
I know this.

Speaker 6 (28:12):
If he's not practicing and playing next week, you're gonna
cast him an awful lot of money. That fourteen million
he's due this year is gonna get dwindled down everything
about eight hundred about eight hundred grand a week. If
he's that stuck on not making his mind up and
not wanting to be on the team, whatever that is,

(28:33):
then that's his fault. At a certain point as a coach,
as an organization, you just move on and you play
with the guys that are out there on the field.
You just block out the noise and just go play.
And if he decides to join them, okay, But if not,
you're not going to hold up the show. You can't,
not for a receiver that can be replaced. And you're

(28:55):
absolutely right, he is about their fourth option offensively, and
they bowled well without him.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
Now, Steve Young and we talked about this earlier as well.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
He was on the radio recently in San Francisco and
he was saying, Trent Williams and Ayuk need to start realized, Look,
we have a chance to win a super Bowl and
put that in front of the money.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
And I get that.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
I'm not mad at Steve Young Ephraim, but you were
an offensive lineman. And I said this, as much as
they want to win a super Bowl, and I'm not
questioning their desire to win a super Bowl at all.
Winning a super Bowl though it doesn't it doesn't change
the legacy of at left tackle or a receiver the

(29:43):
way it does for a quarterback. So I understand these
guys saying and Trent Williams like, maybe this is my
last chance to really get that big money. I know
his last contract was big too, but you know, like
I understand where they're coming from. I understood Tyreek Hill
even though he was winning. He won a super Bowl
with Kansas City, could have won more, obviously they did

(30:04):
even without him. But I understand him going to get
paid because nobody's gonna say, oh, he's got three super
Bowls and he's already a Hall of Famer. He's already
gonna be one of the greatest receivers ever. So I
think the key for him is getting money. Where are
you at on that type of philosophy when you're not
a quarterback.

Speaker 6 (30:23):
Well yeah, I mean, look, Trent is this is his
last big money grab, and he deserves it. He's about
the seventh eighth highest paid left tackle and he's the
best left tackle in the game. I get it. Although
he had three years on his contract, none of the
money's guaranteed, so he wants some assurances. Right. The last
thing you want to do is a guy forbid he
go out there and Tarrice Tech and then that'd be

(30:44):
the end of that. Right, So I understand from an
age and you know, a longevity in terms of monetary
standpoint from him. Look, Brandon and I you think he's right.
He's got plenty of time to worry about whatever team

(31:05):
he does end up, if they gonna win the Super
Bowl or not. Trent Williams, I'm sure he wants to
win the Super Bowl. He's done enough. He's gonna be
a first vallet Hall of Famer. But it's all about
the security for him. You don't player left tackle in
the league is tough man. A lot of people don't
really understand how tough that is and what you have

(31:27):
to endure night in and night out. You're going against
the best defensive player in most cases, every single week,
no week's off, and to do it in such a
dominant fashion, you should be compensated and guaranteed some assurances
that God forbid something happen, you'll be taken care of.
I understand that one, but I'm more concerned about him

(31:48):
not being there than Brandon. I your not going to
make it back without Trent Williams. They can definitely make
it back to the super Bowl without Brandon.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
I you right, I agree?

Speaker 4 (31:57):
All right, that's our man from Salon. Great stuff as always.

The Kelsey brothers, Travis and Jason, who just retired the
former center for the Philadelphia Eagles. He'll be at first
ballot Hall of Fame. Both of them will be first
ballot Hall of Famers, of course, still playing.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
Jason Kelsey.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
VJ has made eighty two million dollars in his career.
Travis so far has made seventy six million.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (33:20):
They just signed they deal with Amazon three years, one
hundred million for their podcast, So they're basically now almost
making as much, and certainly on a yearly basis, it
is as much for podcasting as they did as football players,

(33:43):
and as they do in Travis cases, Travis's case as
a football player.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
What do you think of this dynamic?

Speaker 4 (33:49):
This is incredible And I know athletes are looking at
this like, oh my goodness, And I'm happy for him
because a lot of athletes, you know, like we said earlier,
they make all their money by the time they're thirty
five years old, maybe forty if they're lucky, and now

(34:09):
this is a way for those who you know, have
the personality, have the names to really make great money
and have a great career after they're playing days. But
what's your thought on this? Just you know, did this
kind of take you by surprise or shock you more?

Speaker 5 (34:27):
You can see this coming. They both have great personality,
all right, neither both of them. I think Jason's is
more organic. I think Travis Travis kind of shifts in
the win.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (34:37):
He was a different kind of guy, even his demeanor
and his personality. And I know it's from Cleveland Heights,
and I know he balled and played basketball and all
that quarterback did you know that?

Speaker 6 (34:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Absolutely, I know he's in height.

Speaker 4 (34:48):
Yeah, he went to Cincinnati University of Cincinnati as a
quarterback and then and then they turned him into a
tight end white he was there.

Speaker 5 (34:55):
But this is fine with me, man like, because this
is think about it, Chris, this is the business we're in.
This gives me hope, you know, you know.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
What I'm saying. This gives me hope. Somebody getting one
hundred million, all right, cool, So my time's coming soon.

Speaker 5 (35:06):
Maybe not one hundred million. But this grows the business.
They're interesting guys, they have interesting takes, even though they're brothers.
Their polar kind of opposites, right, even just their personality,
the way they they, the way they speak, just everything
about him. So I think it's good. It's almost like
Paying and Eli. Like those guys are entertaining as hell.
I always thought pay was funny. I always thought payt
was funny as hell. His commercials are great. And then

(35:27):
Eli kind of follows in right behind it. So I
got no beef with this. I just hope it's good content.
I don't need to hear see Taylor Swift. Please keep
that part of it away from me or well not well,
I think that is a part of this man. Now
I'm changing. Now I'm changing. I mean, don't you think
like And I'm not saying I don't know that she's
been on the podcast. I mean, if she were, I'd
be a huge hit for them.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
But I do think that Travis dating her has I
think it rose the popularity of him and their podcast.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
It was fine as it was, but I do think
that gave it a huge boost. Yeah, I'm just saying
as far as like her like being on it to
being part of it. If it's gonna be these guys, yeah,
bringing other players in talking all the backstory. You know, man,
we want to hear about the backstories, right, who is
your who's the funny guy on the team, or the
story of this player that play, what happened, what was
said in a huddle here and there. If they're gonna

(36:18):
do that type of it, I'm gonna love it. If
it's gonna be a bash session like we see some
of these former players, they've.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
Been doing it for years, you know. Yeah, they've already
had it. Yeah, they've already had it. They're just cashing
in on it now.

Speaker 5 (36:30):
It was almost like McAfee, right, he'd already had it
and then he built it, got it.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
The YouTube didn't cashed in on it. So as long
as it.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
Now, Rob does it, like yeah, And my thing is,
I get it that they're not journalists, but I do
think they there's a use for them because they are
more comfortable with one another. And I'm not just talking
about these two, yeah, but just athletes in general. And
you get you always want to get an athlete to
be himself and to give you those great locker room stories.

(36:59):
As you were talking about and they do give you
the stories when they're talking to each other.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
Sometimes they might be a.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
Real journalist, but among each other you get that, you
get a side of them, and really it's the real
side of them that you're not always gonna get, or
even most times gonna get when they're just talking with
the journalists.

Speaker 5 (37:17):
Yeah, just as long as, like I said, they just
keep it to the sports stuff and not try to
go viral, I'm cool with it.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
All right, we got two hours left, A couple of
christ and VJ lock it
