mister RYD.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
Parker.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
What's up man, mister Chris Brusson, how are you man?

Speaker 4 (01:29):
I know we have not. I don't were we on
the I don't know if we were on the radio
together at all in August.

Speaker 6 (01:36):
No, no, no, we missed the entire month. It wasn't
by design. It was the first time. We both just
had vacation and it just seemed to not line up.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
You had vacation you had to take or something right
like you had cause you haven't taken a lot of
vacation right right.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
I was forced to.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
I wasn't sure if you found a new girlfriend or what.

Speaker 7 (02:00):
I know, it would have been worth it right there,
My goodness, gracious, but uh yeah, man, we haven't been
on a radio in a month.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
It's good to see you.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Good to be on we've talked you know, of course,
but it's definitely good to be back.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Trip.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
You gotta go, especially you, I mean, you.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Need to go.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
You need to go.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
It was great and we had a wonderful time, and
uh it's been a great summer. Man, I got no complaints.
And uh so let's introduce the odd Couple crew and
then we will get this party started. On the ones,
well no not yet, but on the social media. Our
man Elijah Sebuna on the updates. You just heard him

(02:46):
a few moments ago, the Great Steve the Seger and
running things.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Patrick Sweeka is.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Enjoying this Labor Day vacation him and an Alyx family.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
And well, Alex is another one.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
I don't think Alex has been on since you, you
and I have been on together.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
I mean I haven't had Alex in a while.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
He'll be back, He will be back, good, good, Well,
you just heard her on the Ones and the twos.

Speaker 6 (03:19):
And Chris Bussard Before you take the stage, before you
take the stage, Hey, mister Steve the Sega, is he there?

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Yep? Can you get the breaking news ready to go?

Speaker 6 (03:32):
Oh wow, Let's do that first and then Cryst will
take center stage. Right Steve, somebody hit it please.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I didn't expect that ride, but break his breaking news,
and it kind of is. I mean, the New York
Posts had a big time Chris, that is in the
New York Post. Men, I'm here in New York, so
you know they maybe not had something to do with it.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
But the New York Post wrote about a week and a.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Half half ago that I will be leaving the Odd Couple,
and we really haven't addressed it. We had a few callers,
Rob call in and you know, say say stuff, and
I just thank them, you know, they praised the show
and all that. But I am officially announcing that I

(04:20):
am indeed leaving the Odd Couple.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
It is true after what ropped six years.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Six fullygether time years?

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah yeah, and then on another year maybe or six months,
six month it.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
On weekends, weekend show.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Right, Yes, I will be leaving the Odd Couple.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
My last day is next Friday, September thirteen.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Can you see my glasses getting fulled with water? It
is tough.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
It's a tough announcement to make. But and you know,
again and for those I don't know, Rob where they're
rumors that we got b for we got tension, I'm
sure and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, yeah, it could go further from the.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Truth, right, I mean we I shared this with Rob
and the executives at Fox Sports Radio and iHeart Radio
in January when I finished my contract, my new contract
with FS one and told them that after this contract
for my radio the radio show was over, I would

(05:27):
not be continuing. So Rob has known this for months
and we were able to keep it quiet.

Speaker 8 (05:32):
Rob.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
That's a testament to to us.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
It's amazing Chris for that, like.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Whatever that is.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, that's a long time.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
And it's basically I'm just leaving to focus on television.
People know I'm the co one of the co hosts
along with Nick Wright and Kevin Wilds of First Things
First on FS one and Dude.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
I've been doing that and The ID.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Couple for the past two or three years and it's
a long grind. It's not undoable, of course, but it's
a long grind. Basically, been working from ten am to
ten pm Monday through Friday, and so it's a complete
lifestyle move. My daughters are adults now, they're out of

(06:19):
the house. My wife and I are empty nesters, and
we just want to have more time to hang out together,
Rob and have fun, and so.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
That is a part of it.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
As you know and many people know, I also run
a national Christian men's organization called the King Movement.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
I will have more time to work.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
On that and build that and you know, just some
other individual things I'm gonna want to do with my time.
But I will say this, Rob, I hope that occasionally
I will be a guest on The Odd Couple.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
And whenever you guys need me. I like to pop
on and share my opinion with you.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
But our as Rob knows, I'm just saying this really
for the listeners. We've been friends thirty two years, yes,
and that is not changing. We will still be in
touch with one another obviously and talking and when he
comes to New York hanging out and things like that,
or when I'm in LA. So there's no there were

(07:25):
no issues whatsoever with Rob and me. So anybody that's
thinking that or putting that out there, just you can
put that to rest.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
I do.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Also, Rob want to thank some people, and I want
to start with Don Martin and who's the executive vice
president of iHeartMedia Radio, and Scott Shapiro, the senior vice
president of iHeart and Fox Sports Radio, because Rob, they
discovered us. And first of all, I'll say this about

(07:56):
Don and Scott. When I first left ESPN and went
to Fox Sports Radio, I had not done much radio.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
I had filled in here and there Stephen A.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Smith, or had Mike and Mike in the morning right,
never had my own show.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
And a part of me coming to Fox Sports Radio
was that I would do radio.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
And I started on the weekends with various people Brian
no and and some other people, and then they Don Martin,
Mark Willard, Yes, we both worked with and Don Martin
heard I had a podcast at the time for FS
one Call in the Zone, and I had you on

(08:37):
as a guest. And Don Martin heard it and loved
it and was like, why aren't you two doing radio together?

Speaker 4 (08:47):
You know, and he.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Was like, I think you guys would be great on radio,
and he you know, started us out on the weekends
doing it once a week and then it went well
and as they thought it would, but had to test
it and then we six years ago we became a
daily show. Hey, Rob, we think we're the first two

(09:13):
African American men right to have a nationally syndicated radio show.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
You had the two live students.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
They're only on in about twenty markets or something, and
we're in a nearly four hundred. And I think us
Big Mail Jamel and Mike Hill, Jamel Smith and Mike
Hill or Jamel Hill and Mike Smith Michael Smith.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
But they weren't that a radio show.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Yeah, they did the TV show, so they didn't do radio.
So yeah, I think that's that's an achievement.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
And they other thing too. Christians so not to stop you.
I want you to continue.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
But also, you know, like most of the time when
they put guys on, somebody's an athlete or something. Right,
we're two journalists, black journalists who had never been given
this opportunity, and neither one of us. I mean, I've
done radio for a long time, but you know me,
I'm a sports writer is my trade, and that's what
you are.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
We're both If we had to pick something, right, we spent.

Speaker 6 (10:08):
More time as right reporters, absolutely as writers. Did we
have any other job, even though we do TV and
we do radio.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
So that was the unique thing.

Speaker 6 (10:20):
And and you know what, don You're right Donna, Scott,
they came together put us on and that was quick
because we I don't think we did the Sunday show
for six months. It was yeah, when they decided to
give us a full time show.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
And we're we're thankful, but absolutely I don't want to
stand but yeah, I want to thank those two, Scott
and Scott. We go back to ESPN uh and he
did put me on Mike and Mike a lot, and
so yeah, Scott Shapiro, Don Martin, just other executive Jay
Cossup vo veto Volonte Robert He of course, as you know,

(10:57):
he did the open that every he hears every night,
every night.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
He put it to the big voice is the one
who want it, ye yep.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
And so we want to thank them, of course, dj
Alex tight Shirt and and Mary Mary and and Mighty
Mark Ramsey and Rob g who is.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
A terrific producer, Rob Lucky.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
He's he's phenomenal and we couldn't have a better producer
as DJ Alex Tysher.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Is great when he's here on the Ones in the Twoes.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
But all the update guys, Steve de Sager who's fantastic,
Brian Finley, Isaac Lowing Crime, Nick Cope of course, the
great Elijah Sabuna, Sagar Patel who backs him up.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
But all the people Rob at iHeart and.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Fox Sports Radio and if I missed anyone, it was
an accident and I apologize, but I just want to
thank you guys. I also want to thank Rob uh
Fox Sports Radio for as this show. It's the odd
couple and even though we're great friends, we are different.
And I appreciate Fox Sports Radio and iHeart allowing.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Me to just be me.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
You know, I'm a person that takes my faith very seriously.
It's in the freaking open of our show, you know,
and I respect iHeart for doing that. A lot of
places wouldn't do that, and so I think that's great
and really Rob a testament you and I we've been
a lot of places, and I think we both would

(12:31):
say since we've been there. At Fox Sports, they allow
you to be you, you know, and you and I
we talk about different issues from our own perspective. People
we've worked with on television. You've had the Shannon Sharps
of the world and progressive people voices, and you've had
the Jason Whitlocks of the world on Fox Sports and

(12:54):
so who's a right wing voice? And so I like
that and appreciate that at Fox Sports Radio and even
FS one, where they really allow you to be who
you are. And so, like I said, signing off within
the next two weeks, September thirteenth will be my last day.

(13:15):
But it's been great, Rob, and most importantly I want
to thank you for being a great friend and a
great partner. We've had some wonderful times. I think you
brought out the best of me and you got me
singing good times.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
And Jefferson's that.

Speaker 9 (13:39):
Is.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
That is and so.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
Man, thank you, and I look, I know you'll have
success with you know, going forward, and so I'm looking
forward to listening to you on the radio for many
many more years.

Speaker 6 (13:53):
Well let me say this, and I'm not gonna an
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox anytime today. You
want to talk to Chris and throw them his flowers
because he deserves it. And the Odd Couple is not
going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere. But I'm gonna say
the last six years and Chris, you know, I've been
done radio for a long time. I had some great

(14:13):
partners in Detroit, Stony and Mark Wilson and Brandon Tierney
in New York was a partner of mind. But the
last six years were history making, record setting, and we've
put a stamp on radio. The Odd Couple brand, Chris franchise,
whatever you want to call it.

Speaker 8 (14:34):
Is.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Real.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
And we both did that.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
And that's always hard to do in radio and chemistry
is the hardest thing, guys, in radio chemistry, you could
put a lot of people together. And we know this
because we have friends who are in the business and
out of the business who have told us time and
time again Chris, I have.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
A great radio show. You guys really really.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
Sound like, you know, like a show, and you're you're different,
and and and and it's never the same. And I
want to thank you for the for the last six years.
Of course we known each other longer than that, but
the last six years and the same thing. I think
you bring the best out of me. Sometimes it could
be wild and crazy, and I could be mad at

(15:23):
you like a brother, you know what I mean, right,
But the one thing that we never did was we
never let it get beyond that it's a radio show.
And I could be mad and and Chris could be
mad at me, and and you know, even in the studio,
the behind the scenes, people would be like mom and
dad are fighting, you know, like you know when we

(15:44):
go at it right, right, what was the passion of it, Chris,
That's what it was. And that wasn't one thing that
made the show great was the passion, right, Like, we
didn't mail it in, and we didn't let anybody come
on the show and say anything.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
But but I like eight seven.

Speaker 6 (16:00):
Seven ninety nine on Fox. We will take your phone call.
But Chris, I'm gonna miss you. I mean I am
We'll move forward. Everybody else is sticking around. You're the
big TV star. We'll just slum it on the radio.
But no, but, but, but for real, we would not
have I would not be where I'm at today. And
I have signed a new contract, a multi year to

(16:22):
stay at Fox.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
I'm very happy here. Thank you. And Chris is right.

Speaker 6 (16:28):
We work for great bosses who let us be us.
Not once i'ven't been called to the principal's office. And Chris,
you know that when we worked at other places that
wasn't always the case.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
Yep, absolutely, you're absolutely right. You're absolutely right.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
But that's it. I would just say thank you, Chris,
thank you. I wish you well.

Speaker 6 (16:47):
I understand why you're doing this a better life. You
and Crystal spend time together, have dinner together. You don't
have to eat in between commercial breaks at night, which
is what I do.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
No, I get it every so so, yeah, we want
to hear from you.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Throw Chris's flowers.

Speaker 6 (17:04):
This is okay, this is okay today, Chris, I want
you to hear from the people.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
Okay eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
And let me throw this out rob before I go,
because and I'm just gonna put it out there, so
it's on the record, and talking with Don and Scott
you know about this, They said, Hey, if whether something
happens or positive, negative, whatever, I always have a home
at Fox Sports Radio, and so you never know.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
I'm still a young man, all right, So I may,
I may.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
When I was, I'm putting it out there that they
have said, I always have a home at Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
So you never know. But eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox. If you want to.

Speaker 1 (17:49):

was at Magic City in Atlanta on Friday?

Speaker 8 (18:58):
On?

Speaker 12 (18:58):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (19:00):
They give you free food on this publicity?

Speaker 2 (19:03):
No free food, We get it. You know that you
eat lemon pepper wings. You know good, Chris.

Speaker 6 (19:09):
We know people are like, well, who's gonna be the
new co host and all us.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
We don't know about all that just yet. But Chris, I.

Speaker 6 (19:17):
Promise you I'm thinking about this that if the next
co host is black, We're gonna rename the show the
Black Odd Couple.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
You know what I'm saying, Well, we we the Black
Eye Company.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
You're trying to say, I am. There's a lot of that,
a lot.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Of questions of the people's racial identities nowadays.

Speaker 7 (19:41):
All right, here we go, Chris, we got some call.
Let's go John in Miami. You're on the Odd.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Couple of Fox Sports Radio give some love to Chris.
What's up?

Speaker 13 (19:51):
I'm called to give my love to Chris. I'm a
Jay One listener. I listen every night for the past
six years. I think you guys are great.

Speaker 12 (20:00):
I'm originally from New Jersey, so I grew up We're
woken and I used.

Speaker 13 (20:04):
To read your column Rob when I was in high school.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
So I appreciate you at.

Speaker 12 (20:08):
And I'm really a rob guy.

Speaker 13 (20:10):
Chris. I gotta tell you I cast.

Speaker 12 (20:12):
The goad of your flowers, but I gotta tell you
I was not on board with you.

Speaker 14 (20:16):
I'm lost of your sports opinions.

Speaker 13 (20:19):
The show has The show has turned my opinion on
Chris Bruce. Chris, I'm a man of faith as well
you are. You know you are going to be missed.

Speaker 12 (20:29):
I can tell you that right now.

Speaker 13 (20:31):
You actually turned me around, and uh, I think I'm
going to miss you. So I just called to give
you that props a little bit. And one more thing.
My favorite all time moment on this show, yes, was
when you guys.

Speaker 8 (20:45):
I believe it was the first.

Speaker 13 (20:46):
Year we're giving each other the Christmas gifts, and you
gave Chris some rock Jordan's like I is gonna live
on in my brain forever. I wish you guys are
the best.

Speaker 12 (21:04):
Rob.

Speaker 13 (21:04):
I will continue to listen they pick you off the radio.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
I appreciate, Thank you much. I really appreciate that, man.
And as a going away present, I am. I gotta
be honest, I'm expecting a pair of Bordens from the
Rov in the mail any day now.

been a pleasure over the last six years, and I
been here since day one, you know, listening to both
you guys. Uh, just not just my sports, but a
lot of things. Chris, I want to give you some
prosper for all the stuff you do for young black
men around this country. How you speak, Uh, just not
just my sports, but a lot of things. You guys booth,

(21:54):
You guys are into you guys don't get enough credit
for that. So I want to give it to you
before you leave. And it's been a pleasure educating you
on basketball.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
I knew that was coming, Chris.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
I knew that was coming.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
I knew it, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
Hey Mary, it's only right. It is only right.

Speaker 8 (22:13):
But I wish I wish you the best of all
you do going forward, and I'll be I'll be listening
and correcting you even though you can't hear me. I'm
to be yelling at my TV about how wrong.

Speaker 13 (22:22):
All right?

Speaker 8 (22:23):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
It's been great having you call in all these years.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
He has, he's been here since day one game.

Speaker 15 (22:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
Sure, I think when we were on weekday weekends Sundays.

Speaker 6 (22:33):
Yeah, we're doing a Sunday show, Tim Chili, Tim in Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
You're on the couple of boards radio.

Speaker 13 (22:39):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (22:39):
I'm glad you got in.

Speaker 8 (22:41):
What up?

Speaker 16 (22:42):

Speaker 4 (22:44):
How you doing?

Speaker 5 (22:45):

Speaker 5 (22:47):
I didn't know you were here Friday night, Man, thats
been all that commotion that was going on downtown.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
Hey, Tim, you ay, you didn't need Rob dragging you
to that.

Speaker 5 (23:02):
Yeah, I told you. You know, he was the guy
that snapped the track out of my hand.

Speaker 13 (23:06):
I do believe.

Speaker 5 (23:10):
No man, But Chris Man, what can I say?

Speaker 13 (23:13):
Man?

Speaker 5 (23:13):
We so many ways. You know, my brother in the
Bond my brother in the face. I've always respected you.
I remember back on uh back in the ESPN where
you you know, said some things and people kind of
attacked you.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
And I was like, really with you all that, Chris
or me? Oh go ahead, I have both different reasons.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
Right right.

Speaker 5 (23:33):
I think you know what I'm talking about. But it
was different, you know, and beliefs and stuff. And I remember,
and I was like, man, you know, I was glad.
I was glad you know to see you, uh, you know,
bounce back and hang in there. And uh so, Man,
I appreciate uh, you know what you do, uh speaking
out and being a positive role model uh in in
our community. Man. And uh and you know now you're

(23:56):
gonna have time to you know, get nick right, you know,
quit sat Quintin.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
Back to out right.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
But no, man, I appreciate you guys, and you know
everything you do. Man, He's just such a you know
a lot of people talk about, you know, want to
you know, you know, talk about who they are, but
the different when you see a person day in and
day out, and that makes all the difference to me,
you know, so and Rob, you know, whoever you bring in, man,

(24:26):
let them know, man, they follow a legends, so we
won't be taking it easy on them.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
No, no, no, anybody aboya right, you know that, I
mean doubt.

Speaker 6 (24:37):
There's a tradition to uphold here on the odd what
we expect.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
So thank you, Chili, Tim, Chris, all.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
Right, thank you, thank you, Tim. We appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
We're gonna go to break, but hold on, we're gonna
get We'll take more.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Calls than the calls.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
If you want to hear this Up eight seven seven
ninety nine or Fox eight seven seven nine nine six

Speaker 4 (24:58):
But here's Steve the Saga with the update. State, Hello, gentlemen,
Dodgers are up. Yes, yes, we're.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
Gonna Miss Chris. Were you shocked by the.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
News and did Jue? I was not shocked.

Speaker 18 (25:07):
Like you mentioned the post reference early, I just wondered
where because I saw you both on the schedule for today,
I said some I'm gonna be up.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
So I'm clearly right.

Speaker 16 (25:16):
We got the announcement and like Rob, I look forward
to the blackgy couple. That's what the Dodgers are up,
eleven to four at Arizona, bottom of the ninth inning.
Earlier we had Cincinnati and Houston's five game winning streak
five to three. Baltimore sent the White Sox to an
eleventh straight loss, thirteen to three. The White Sox record
is thirty one and one eight. Milwaukee beat Saint Louis

(25:39):
nine to three. Willia Damas homered in a fifth straight game,
and Cleveland got a four to two win at Kansas City.
The Royals have lost six straight. There's college football about
to starch preseason number ten Florida State oh to one,
hosting Boston College. Florida State lost its opener in Dublin
on a last second field goal by Georgia Tech. The
new rankings come out tomorrow this Saturday on Fox TV.

(26:01):
Texas at Michigan noon Eastern time. Bengals star wide receiver
Jamar Chase misspractice again wanting a new contract. Cincinnati opens
the season this Sunday at home against New England. Chase
attended practice in street clothes. He's only had three years
in the league so far three Pro Bowl selections. Last season, he.

Speaker 18 (26:19):
Had one hundred receptions forty nine ers. First round wide
receiver Ricky Pearsall will miss at least a month. He
was placed on the non football injury list. He got
out of the hospital just yesterday after being shot Saturday
in a robbery attempt in San Francisco what was called
an attempted theft of a watch. The teenager who shot
him was arrested. Pearsall played at Florida and Arizona State.

(26:41):
He's from Phoenix. His mom said the bullet entered his
chest and exited out his back. Amazingly, he was able
to walk to the ambulance chiefs running back light edwards.
Hilaire was placed on the NFI list as well. Kansas
City Wide receiver Marquise Brown did not practice again today.
He will not play in Thursday's NFL season opener against
Baltimore due to his bad shoulder. And Ravens Date and

(27:03):
Mark Andrews just returned to practice Friday. He missed over
two weeks after a car accident.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
Back to you, all right, thank you, Steve.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
It's The Eye Couple live from the tirerag dot Com
Studios eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
We're taking your calls uh on.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
This iteration of the eye couple, uh ending in a
couple of weeks. Uh, So we'll take your calls on
the show and.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Then we got we got a call here.

Speaker 7 (27:33):
Uh don if you're in the couple of Fox Sports Radio,
DoD what you got something to say to Chris?

Speaker 1 (27:40):
You know what all I gotta say, Yeah, we've discovered
the odd couple.

Speaker 13 (27:49):
Yes, God bless you.

Speaker 15 (27:51):
That's all I'm gonna say is you are You will
be missed Number one. Number two. I completely get what
you're doing. Number three, and we're not going to announce
it until later, but I'm replacing you as the odd couple.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Now it's going to really be odd Chris couple.

Speaker 15 (28:13):
I Rob and I spoke earlier today and how like
can say, is God bless And I know I'm listening
to everybody talk about you, and in first and foremost,
I need everybody that's listening to understand when in life
you get to choose what you do, you made it okay, Chris.
Chris got an opportunity to find out exactly how important

(28:36):
life is and everything else away from some of the stuff,
and he's still fortunate enough to do him.

Speaker 13 (28:42):
PB two.

Speaker 15 (28:43):
I'm gonna miss him, but I'm not gonna miss him
because I'm still gonna watch him. Like the last collar said,
I'm still going to correct him every time, I can't.
But more importantly, this is when I know this man
has sealed his legacy. Okay, he is at a point
in his life where he's an incredible husband and incredible fauthor,

(29:05):
he's a great professional, and he went from doing all
kinds of things to settling in and being so big
that he got to choose his path. All I can
say is God, bless out everybody gets that chance one day.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
No, thank you, don I really appreciate those words. And
you've been in my corner from day one. We've had
a lot of conversations and I really appreciate it all
your support and guidance over these last several years. And
again I mean taking a chance on me and taking
a chance on robbing.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Me and putting us together on radio. So and did
you said it? I mean I thought it was a
good podcast.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
I didn't know, but you said it's something there and
you were right on the money.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
So we really appreciate you.

Speaker 8 (29:55):
Well.

Speaker 15 (29:55):
The interesting part about that is is I've had a
chance to do this for a long time. I sat
across my desk with two guys who never wore a jock,
and I know they're going to say they did, but
I never wore a dock and played at a professional level,
but yet they were always relegated to being in the
second chair. And I never got why. And we're like,

(30:16):
you know what, why don't we put the two of
you together and not have a chair? You guys, just
go and do the Odd Couple. And I'm going to
tell you the last six year. First of all, I
can't believe it's all. It's been six years. I'll be
honest with you. Secondly, six of the best years, guys,
six are the best. And the one thing that I
promise you, the Odd Couple name will continue. I don't

(30:37):
care what anybody says. You guys got way too much
on this legacy for this name. Scott and I talk
about it all the time, and I'm telling you have
not been and have had an opportunity. Guys, we worked
with a lot of very talented people. Have never in
all the years I've been doing this thirty years with
my heart, that I've been more proud of a duo

(30:59):
than the two of you.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
That's nice. Thank you is nice.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
Don That means a lot, That means a lot done.

Speaker 15 (31:06):
I mean it from the heart. I mean and I'm
gonna echo what the last guy said. I know you're
a god bearing man, and I'm telling you just keep
yourself going in the right directions and everything else will
can take care of itself. We got your partner, will
take care of him. He still has a little bit
more to do, and uh, we will. And here's the

(31:28):
other thing I'm gonna I'm gonna leave you with too.
What's your part of this family? Your family for life.
I don't care what you do, you ever need anything,
We're here for you because you are that kind of
a person. And yes, I agree. You two have entertained
America unlike any duo I have ever seen in all
the years I've been doing this.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Well, thank you do so don't be surprised when I call.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
Yeah, I'm ready.

Speaker 15 (31:56):
Christ we're kind of expecting you to make cameos on
this show.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
Oh yeah, absolutely absolutely all right.

Speaker 15 (32:04):
To be your home. You can do all that Fox
TV stuff as long as you want.

Speaker 8 (32:09):
This will always be.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
Your home, all right. I love it, I love well.

Speaker 15 (32:12):
Thanks, Thanks and respect man, all the love and respect
in the world. Take care of yourself. Don't be a stranger.

Speaker 12 (32:20):
Rob.

Speaker 15 (32:21):
We're gonna have another announcement later. But you you just
ride this out and have a great time. All you
listeners out there, please give this man a call and
tell him how much he's meant to you. Have a great,
great rest of the holiday, guys.

Speaker 6 (32:33):
Thank you, thank you, thank you for falling in on the
holiday for you, Chris Beautiful. Let Squeeze and Chris a
couple more calls, and we're just gonna let people call
in talk about this earlier, Sway, our show.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
Has always been about callers, callers.

Speaker 6 (32:47):
We've talked about that when we decided to do this show, Chris,
that we would not just talk to each other for
three hours, and the callers are very important to our show.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Sway to Memphis, Join the odd Couple.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
What's up, Sway Man.

Speaker 8 (33:01):
What's going on? What's going on? What's going on?

Speaker 12 (33:04):
Hey, this is one of the best shows I've listened to.
It's probably one of the reasons that I even kept
my subscription. But I want to tell Chris, since we
do share the first since we do share our first name,
you're one of the first guys that I remember on
ESPN that wasn't hating on Lebron And I've been a

(33:25):
Miami Heat fan since nineteen ninety four, but with you, Man,
I like to say that you have a unique culture.

Speaker 15 (33:33):
Swagger because I can put you in.

Speaker 12 (33:35):
A room of fortune five hundred CEOs, I can take
you to any church in America. But then you're also
invited to the barbecue the first things. So it's one
of the first things that I noticed about you, where
you know, your your takes were always calculating, you always
backed them up with facts, and so that that alone

(33:57):
helped me to become a fan. But now I'm saying
because I call in every now and then and I
always tease Rob about the cornball.

Speaker 5 (34:05):
Uh and uh you.

Speaker 12 (34:07):
Always let me have it for that. But again, Man,
I wish you all the blessings and luck in the world.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (34:14):
And they continue to do what you do. Man, And
you know nobody could hate on you for you know,
choosing your life and choosing your family. So again I'll
still be listening Rob Man. You you're awesome as well
to talking together, So enjoy Man.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
Know I appreciate those shirts, man, really do. Uh that
that means a lot. And from all you guys, it's
great to hear from you. Eight seven seven ninety When
we get you want to keep them more, keep them going.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
One more. Yeah, we'll keep the calls coming for the
next segment as well.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Yep, Eric in Texas, you're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 8 (34:49):
What's up? Eric?

Speaker 1 (34:51):
So, what's up?

Speaker 5 (34:51):
Chris?

Speaker 8 (34:52):
How you guys?

Speaker 4 (34:53):
We're good man? How are you?

Speaker 14 (34:55):
I'm great man. Honestly, I just got to say this
speaking I'm a twenty this year old black man, and
I say, like, y'all truly serving the inspiration for me,
like I'm genuinly working towards being a sports off show
radio hods.

Speaker 8 (35:05):
So, Chris Rob, I just want to let.

Speaker 13 (35:07):
You, let y'all know like y'all are genuinely.

Speaker 9 (35:09):
Influencing the next generation. I'm truly like heartbroken and Chris
is leaving.

Speaker 14 (35:12):
Like I'm not gonna lie, like I felt like a
deep sadness when y'all broke.

Speaker 9 (35:16):
The news, right, But just thank you for truly thank
you for serving this rasion for me and the whole
next generation. And uh man, you know Chris maud Tals,
congrats on all your success and you can tease success
and man, thank you truth from boto of my heart.
Thank you, thank you man.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
We appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
And that's nice, Chris.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
That's one thing we you know, both of us, Rob
want to do and you've you've done a lot of
things to work for the next generation of black sports
writers reports and not even just black, but there's been
a lack of that, so we ye, we do focus
on that, but for all young sports writers and reporters
and broadcasters, we definitely want to help, all right, So

(35:55):
keep the calls coming eight seven, seven ninety nine on
Fox You'll get a chance to weigh in if you

No city?

Speaker 2 (36:51):
Instead we have are you done with Shacho City? From sure?

Speaker 8 (36:55):
No? No, no.

Speaker 6 (36:55):
We're gonna do it, but not today's too big of
an announcement. Instead, we got Scott from Sherman Oaks. You're
on the Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
What's up? Scott?

Speaker 17 (37:06):
Chris and Rob? Is this the.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
Scott? What's up?

Speaker 15 (37:12):
Brother?

Speaker 4 (37:13):
How are you?

Speaker 17 (37:15):
First time? Longtime sellers? What an honor?

Speaker 15 (37:19):
What an honor?

Speaker 17 (37:20):
Coming on today? Chris finally says he's leaving, and now
they invite me on finally.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
I know, and I appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
You heard you probably heard me earlier, but I mean
you brought me here from ESPN and gave me a chance,
and I appreciate all of.

Speaker 17 (37:38):
That, of course. Guys, Honestly, it's been a pleasure listening
today's show. It's heart selt, it's emotional, but you know what,
it's a celebration of what you guys have built. It's
been a tremendous legacy for these six years. And that's why,
just as Don said previously, the Odd Couple's going to
live on because you guys grew this show. So much
over these years, it would be criminal to take away

(38:01):
something that the fans love, listeners enjoy listening to on
a daily basis. The show has been a tremendous success.
And I'll tell you, Rob, when Chris called to resign,
you're never in this position like when somebody called and said,
all right, well I'm walking away. But Chris did it
such class. You want to hate somebody who resigns, he

(38:21):
makes it impossible because he does it with such dignity.
And that's how he called many months ago to say
that he was going to be stepping away.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
No, thank you, Scott. It was tough.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
It was a tough decision, and it's still tough, you know,
because sometimes you get in the middle of something and
you don't Sometimes Rob, you know, you don't appreciate or
know the impact you haven't on people.

Speaker 8 (38:45):
You know.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
And then even like just out and about, you'll hear
people you know say, you know, they a lot of people.
I mean, I have people say they see me on TV.
But just as many people say to a couple, you know,
and something is a TV show because they see it
on social media and stuff. Anyway, So it's definitely a

(39:07):
tough been a tough decision, but just something you know,
I thought was best for me and my family.

Speaker 17 (39:14):
And I'll say that you guys have made go on.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
I'm just gonna say this.

Speaker 6 (39:19):
I honestly, Scott, as much as I enjoyed working for
Fox and appreciative that I'm going to be continuing and
uh for years to come, but I thought about, you know,
could Chris and I get to the point where I
actually reach retirement. That's how good I thought our show was,
how great our chemistry was, that there was a chance

(39:42):
that we could make the run all the way to
the end.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
You know, Chris, I thought about that like you think when.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
I I mean Scott tire boss. But I definitely think
it could have.

Speaker 17 (39:52):
Well, hey, you guys have made a difference in people's lives.
You know, this is at the end of people's work
days as they're going home to their families. One's got
issues that they're sorting through, and you provided a smile
across the country. And you know, we don't take this
lightly because listeners invested their time with you every single day.
Why because you entertained them, You made them think. The

(40:13):
pairing of the two of you, it's magic through the speakers,
and you guys have a contagious energy where you know,
people listen to you once. It's hard to turn away
from that radio because the dynamic when the two of
you guys are doing playful debate, and that's the thing
that you guys would go at each other on sports topics.
You disagree a ton, but you could hear the smile
to the speakers and you could know even before we

(40:35):
put this on YouTube, you.

Speaker 15 (40:36):
Knew that you guys were smiling.

Speaker 17 (40:38):
You were having fun going at each other debating, and
that's what made the chemistry between you two so entertaining.

Speaker 4 (40:45):
Yeah, no, I appreciate that, Scott. And that's true, Rob.

Speaker 1 (40:48):
I mean like, even though we went at it really hardcore,
and like you said you said earlier, the thing that
allowed us to never let it affect our friendships. We
never made it personal, never person. It was always just
the time, pick the sports or whatever. And that's the
way you should do it. Because we've seen, Rob, we've
seen duo to Yes, Scott's seen the people don't end

(41:09):
up talking to each other anymore.

Speaker 6 (41:11):
You know, Hey, hey, hey Scott, thanks for calling them.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
Well, I'm gonna be up against it real quick. But
thanks so much, Thank you, Scotty.

Speaker 17 (41:21):
I'm glad, guys, Chris enjoy these last two weeks. It's
been a pleasure to have fun with this.

Speaker 1 (41:27):
Thank you, brother, Thank you very much. All Right, Moro,
couple coming your way, Keep it locked.
