It's a rat. Yeah, my bad, Alex. What yeah, Alex?
And we're not here?
Speaker 6 (02:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (02:12):
First of all, I thought it was y'all dissing me, like,
oh man, it's the day one that I don't want
to be here for day one. I'm like, where are
we hang out? A cheesecake factory? Then on day one,
neither one of you decided to be here.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
You know what they were?
Speaker 1 (02:24):
They were a shrine on their knees, praising Chris Buszard
on Mondays?
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Is that what it was? It was right, Rob g.
Speaker 8 (02:31):
Of course Calvin brought it in when the minorities weren't here.
Speaker 7 (02:34):
Wow, Alex, yeah you are you are? Yeah, you are minorities.
Yeah I'm Macedonian, you know.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yeah, this show weird.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
The token guys, Oh wow, look at that. Alex has
more brown skinned than the temptations I.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Do, Yeah, you do.
Speaker 7 (02:49):
I mean low key from the way looking at you
through this window and this glare. You could be like
Chris's brother's brother a little bit.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
He's Cleo from New World from Louisiana. Yeah, all right,
great show.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Let's welcome into the Odd Couple crew, because you wouldn't
be able to do this fine radio program without him.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
Rob g is our producer.
Speaker 7 (03:09):
He just celebrated his daughter's fifth birthday.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
How was that? Yeah, I can't be mad.
Speaker 8 (03:13):
It was expensive, Rob, Things were asking, yes, but she's five.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
I can't believe she was born. Like when the show
was just starting. Her birthday.
Speaker 8 (03:21):
Rest in Peace is the anniversary of the original Art Couple.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
That's right, That's that's what she was born, he said,
rest in Peace. Don't do that. You set me up.
Speaker 7 (03:29):
I thought it was gonna be something sad, like rest
in Peace of your grandmother or something. I thought you're
gonna say, hey, happy birthday to your daughter. And I
will say this, birthdays are expensive for kids. They sain't
gone to the days Robert boiling hot dogs in the
backyard and telling everybody grabbing the coca and smile and
shut up. This is my wife is playing my five
by two b six year olds for next next month.
(03:50):
Already know every show you and I do for the
next two weeks. This is what it's going towards.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
That's unbelievable. I getting carried away. Oh they don't even know.
It's just a party, just just hot dog. I'm pay
it for it.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Of course, Alex is our engineer, Brian Fenley is that
and Elijah, of course is our social media guru. Don't
forget telephone number eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
You'll need that because we are talking Eli Manning.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Rob G.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Can you jump on? Eli Manning is officially robbed G
on the clock?
Speaker 8 (04:26):
Right, that's right.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Today.
Speaker 8 (04:28):
On Wednesday, the NFL the Pro Football Hall of Fame
formally announced the eligibility is for the twenty twenty five
Pro Football Hall of Fame. Headlining the list of sixteen
first time nominees none other than Rob Parker's favorite New
York giant, Eli Manning.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
And I'm gonna just start right here.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
If you don't think Eli Manning belongs in the Pro
Football Hall of Fame, you don't know anything about NFL
football and you haven't watch close enough, because if there
was ever a Hall of Famer, it is Eli Manning.
You want to go and look at his bad stats
during the regular season and bring those up as a
(05:13):
reason that he doesn't get into the Hall of Fame,
and all irregular seasons weren't that good and he's doing
nothing interceptions. But then on the flip side, you go
and say that Tom Brady is the goat because he
won all these super bowl not that he won them
by himself, but that he won all these super Bowls.
(05:35):
So you have a high premium on super Bowls. Correct,
all of these anti Eli people coming, just.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Hold on, the turn is coming. How do you know?
I'm not pro Eli? All right? I just already know.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
And then what does Eli do? He wins two super
Bowls against Tom Brady all people. He knocks off the
eighteen and oh Patriots. Remember they had to send those
T shirts to Haiti, all right, that they were gonna
(06:10):
be nineteen to zero winning super Bowl of Patriots. Remember
all that we never saw those T shirts. That was
because of Eli Manning. And not only did he just
win two super Bowls and beat Tom Brady twice, he
was the MVP in both Super Bowls, and had a
signature throw in each Super Bowl, so he wasn't there
along for the ride. If he doesn't make those throws,
(06:37):
the Giants don't win no Super Bowls. Oh, the Holman
girls were lucky. That wasn't the game winning touchdown. He
still had to find plexico burers to win that game.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
That throw to.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Manningham up the sideline might be one of the greatest
throws we've ever seen in a National Football League game.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Get out of your feelings. I'm Manning is a Hall of.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Famer yesterday, today, next week, next month. It's about winning
the big games. And that's what he did. Stop it already,
kelvin Washington.
Speaker 7 (07:16):
Can we give him? Can we give him a round
of applause? Somebody give him around of applause. First of all,
your New York bias just came out all over the
place right there.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
That was absolutely New York bias.
Speaker 7 (07:27):
Now, let's talk about Hall of Fame versus Hall of
mid Is it hall of fame or is it Hall
of mid Because the last time I checked, one of
the things we respected about the NFL is the fact
that it's difficult to get into the Hall of Fame. Right,
who's a better player, Eli Manning or Tara Owens. We
all would say Taro Owens, taror Owens doesn't get in
(07:49):
first ballot. Now, eventually he would get in, But we
like the standards of the NFL has created.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Right, this is a Hall of Fame.
Speaker 7 (07:55):
We make fun of the NBA because it's easy to
get into the Hall of Fame. They led just about
anybody in because it's the basketball Hall of Fame.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Now, let's talk about the numbers you just chose to ignore.
Speaker 7 (08:05):
Yes, he has two Super Bowl wins, credit him for that,
But let me ask you this was it Eli or
was it that defense Rob g Was it that front
four or was it Eli? Because last time I checked,
it was Michael Strahan, justin Tuckingham Boys and my man
Jason Pierre Paul who blew off his fingers. That's who
was getting it done for them. They weren't lighting it
(08:26):
up offensively. They were mid even going into the postseason run.
They were just barely a five hundred getting into the postseason. Now,
you want to ignore the fact that your Hall of
Fame quarterback is one hundred and seventeen wins to one
hundred and seventeen losses. The literal definition of mid like
exactly mid forty eight and sixty seven after that Super
(08:50):
Bowl you were referring to only forty eight wins and
sixty seven losses.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
After that Super Bowl.
Speaker 7 (08:55):
Win, he only went to the playoffs six out of
sixteen years, only went to the Pro Bowl four times. Now,
I'm not saying he's not going to get in because
of that last name.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
His name was. It ain't got nothing to do with it.
If name was Eli.
Speaker 7 (09:10):
Smith, you would go, Yeah, he was a quality player,
you solid player.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Why you reading off those weak ass stats? I got
something for you. You ready, Please hit me with something. Manning
joined Brady Mahomes, Montana Bart Starr, Terry Bradshaw as the
only multiple winners of Super Bowl MVP Awards. And guess what,
every one of those dudes is in the Hall of
(09:34):
Fame and there's a hard World's Eli Manning not going
to join that group when he's one of only five
guys who have done it?
Speaker 4 (09:41):
There is is he? And then there? Should he?
Speaker 7 (09:44):
Is he going to because he ain't Eli Smith? He's
Eli Manning?
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Yes? Should he?
Speaker 7 (09:49):
No? Should he be considered? Yeah, he's got two Super
Bowl wins. Not mad at that that's not an argument.
Had a nice career in that regard. Whod he beat
in the Super Bowls? Can you can you tell me
that breat your goat? Is that Tom Brady? Your Tom
Brady is? Tom Brady's your goat. But he's there not
the best, but he is the greatest. Yeah, credit him,
credit him, But I think he beat the A and
(10:09):
O pat are Why are we lowering the standard now?
The Hall of Fame in the NFL is the hardest
to get into major league And if you want to
say that, I'm not mad at that. The reason why
they're both heralded is because of the standard they've sent
Eli Manny, you can't tell me he's literally mid five
hundred exactly. You can't tell me post that Super Bowl
(10:29):
win he almost lost twenty more games than he won.
You can't tell me he only made the postseason six
times out of sixteen years.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Rob, come on, Rob Parker.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
It ain't just about it. It's about the big moments.
Speaker 7 (10:43):
But it's supposed to be the totality of your career, right,
the totality of career.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
But when you have shining.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Moments in the biggest moments, that's why people look at
you and say he's able to perform when it matters most.
That's why we don't put guys who are regular season
quarterbacks who put up a pile up numbers, but they
can't win the big games like that. That is the problem.
You always have to win the championship or win the
(11:15):
MVP or something of that. Ilk that's what separates you,
that's what makes you all time great.
Speaker 7 (11:22):
But it has to be the totality of everything you've done.
Like for instance, I agree, we're not gonna say Michael
Jordan won all these and he shouldn't be in the
Hall of Fame because those wizard years. It's the totality.
And all I'm simply saying is, aside from the two
Super Bowl wins, he literally was either ain't solid or bad.
He was either yeah, okay or bad. Ain't it about
(11:45):
winning though?
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
I'll give you a perfect example, and I use it
all the time because this is what drives home the point.
Marv Levy was the coach of the Buffalo Bills. He
went to four straight Super Bowls. Nobody ever mentioned him
as the all time greatest coach in the NFL. You
know why, because he didn't win and it's about winning
(12:08):
the big game. That's what Eli did. You could have
the regular season during those two Super Bowl runs.
Speaker 7 (12:14):
He was five and but you gotta stop acting like
he was out there, Pat Mahomes in or out, he
was out hout.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Did they win?
Speaker 7 (12:22):
Both of those games were one at the end, but
the literally held the offense that was scoring like crazy
set behind him.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
Boss game that team, that team shut down.
Speaker 7 (12:32):
You mentioned that at eighteen and zero, that that Patriot
team who had been scoring crazy points, Randy Moss catching eight.
They was still losing that game despite it, and the
defense held Tom Brady to that. I'm not saying Eli
Manning did not have a solid game. What I'm simply
saying is consideration for Hall of Fame sure in the
Hall of Fame. No, And in fact, don't ask me.
(12:55):
New Jersey dot Com poll thirty nine Hall of famers.
Eleven of them said yes, ten said no, and nine
are undecided.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Meaning you're acting like this is.
Speaker 7 (13:06):
Sure fire, like this is just like he's a walking
around Pat Mahomes, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, his old fellow
Hall of famers, possibly if he gets in, are like
sounds like sounds like mid to me? Eleven said yes,
ten said no. Nine seven the majority say yes. Okay,
he needs the vast majority. In fact, nine didn't the
vast majority. The majority said either no or undecided nineteen
(13:29):
to eleven.
Speaker 1 (13:30):

Speaker 4 (16:22):
Heman, that's a little Detroit action right there.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
All right here, we go. This is gonna be interesting.
Let's start with Kyle in Tacoma, Washington. You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
What's up, Kyle, how's it going. How's it going?
Speaker 4 (16:36):
Doing great on radio?
Speaker 11 (16:37):
Thank you, my man on a warship Wednesday, All power
to the man above all credit, dude. Now let me just.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Say I'm with Rob on this one though, no doubt
about it.
Speaker 11 (16:48):
Eli Manning is a Hall of Famer. It's not like
he was a bum.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
And then he.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
Had the most important attribute in sports. Clutch, Yes, clutch.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
If you are on a team with somebody and he
might not.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Be the best player, but he is serviceable and he
is clutch, you are glad he is your teammates.
Speaker 11 (17:11):
And he won the big game in the.
Speaker 12 (17:13):
NFL postseason, which there's no series involved to.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Win or go home. And he did a lot more
winning than he did going home, including those were wildcard
playoff birds.
Speaker 11 (17:25):
Yes game, that's an extra game he had.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
He had five road playoff games during those two Super
Bowl five.
Speaker 7 (17:34):
He was five and oh five and oh on the road, Kyle,
how about you not being a wildcard game? Because he
was mad one seventeen and once said he's the definition
of me.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
But I appreciate toy.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Thank you, Yes, thank you. How about Jennifer and Sacramento.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Jennifer?
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Hi there, how.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Are you good?
Speaker 12 (17:55):
Good?
Speaker 13 (17:56):
Thanks for taking my call. So I agree with Calvin
Eli Manning being made, but I really wanted to have
input on someone like Philip Rivers, who's a lot to
talk about making the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Philip Rivers has no hardware to speak up.
Speaker 12 (18:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (18:12):
Sorry, So we were as funny. Thank you for the call,
Jennifer and Jennifer brought up a great point. Rob G
and I were talking earlier today and the first person
I brought up, Rob was Philip Rivers, because Philip Rivers
if by talent, if I lined them both up, unless
say they were playing. We were just watching the quarterbacks,
no names, no nothing, And I said, well, which one
of those guys do you want? You take Philip Rivers
(18:33):
over Eli Manning. However, to your point, he did not
win the big game enough.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
He didn't.
Speaker 7 (18:38):
If he would have just even gotten to a Super Bowl,
maybe doesn't win. I think he could be in much
more in the conversation. But he's not unfortunate, Jennifer, I
feel you though.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Thanks for the call. Bruno and Brooklyn. You're on the
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Bruno?
Speaker 4 (18:53):
Bruno? That all right? We lost Bruno, Bruno, he's out there.
Kevin and our You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, cap?
Speaker 11 (19:03):
Hey, how you guys doing. Thanks for taking my call. Yes, sir,
I don't want this to come off like I'm an
Eli hater, because if he deserves to be in the
Hall of Fame, he deserves to be in.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
The Hall of Fame.
Speaker 11 (19:14):
Where I struggle is how you're making him sound to
be like so great, because if you were to take
Dan Marino down Dan Fouts, you would take those the
skill sets they have over Eli. And if you want
to say super bowls, Elway and his brother Peyton both
have two Super Bowl trophies and you would take both
of them over Elon.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
No, no, I wouldn't take I wouldn't take el the
thanks for the call in a big game and a
musk with a big throw in a big situation.
Speaker 7 (19:42):
I'm taking Eli. But why do you say, Okay, here's
the thing, I'm taking Eli even over that's a fair point.
I understand that because I think there's a nervous and
a perfectionism that Peyton had. Right, he would get tired.
It has to be perfect. But you keep saying in
a big game, you know what you're doing? That drives
me crazy. What people do You start talking about who's
the best basketball player and they go, well.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Last second shot? Who do you want? Kobe or Lebron? When?
Speaker 7 (20:03):
Since when did the metric for best basketball player be
last shot?
Speaker 12 (20:08):
No?
Speaker 7 (20:08):
When did the metric for Hall of Fame quarterback be
just this last throws a whole. I'm a franchise and
I got a twenty two year old for the next
ten to fifteen years.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
You want Peyton Eli? I want Eli and game in
a big game fifteen years, Peyton or Eli.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
I'm gonna take Eli and the culture this winning Super
Bowls and making.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Plays when it matters. All right, listen, let's.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Squeeze one more in Daniel and Boise. You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Daniel? Doing good? Daniel,
give us give us some give us your input on
I'm curious to hear what you gotta say.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
All right, So, so you know I went Calvin on
this one.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
Man.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Honestly, I'm not gonna say, uh, you know, Eli shuts
at all, but but I don't even seek he belongs
to the conversation. Man, it sounds like your base of
at fully on the big game. And if that was
the case, then you know I finally heard his name
with that last caller. Damn Marino wouldn't be in the
Hall of fameer, no, no.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
No, But Damn Marino set all kinds of all the records.
He has a stats and all that. It's not just
on that. My thing is when you talk about the
history of the NFL, I yes you do, because he
beat the Patriots and that eighteen and oh team with
Tom Brady. There ain't no way you can make that conversation.
You'll say, while Tom Brady lost three Super Bowls? Who
(21:30):
beat him?
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Eli? Manning beat him twice? You're right, the Giants did.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
Can you say about Eli?
Speaker 13 (21:36):
Though?
Speaker 2 (21:37):
That's about it?
Speaker 12 (21:37):
Like you could go on for days about somebody like
that Marino who never got a ring, but you can't
do that about Eli. And That's where I'm tigging with Calvin,
because you gotta be above and beyond the normal is
above and beyond.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
He's literally mad Daniel, thank you for the call. Brother.
Speaker 7 (21:55):
Look Rob, it's not that that was Those were not
magnificant wins. Nobody's questioning that. Nobody's questioning that he had
some good games and playoffs. The only thing I'm saying
is this is supposed to be a very difficult blast.
Dion Sanders always says, best of the best of the
best of the best, and there needs to be a hault.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
He can't.
Speaker 7 (22:13):
He shouldn't just be getting in because, hey, for two days,
two Sundays, in his whole career, he was I he
was pretty good. That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Marv Levy couldn't win a Super Bowl as a coach
and he's in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
Marv, leave him alone, Marv, leave him alone. Leave him alone,
is what you need to do.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 7 (22:40):
Of course, listen to The Couple, Rob Parker Kevin Washington
on the Worship Wednesday Company Live from the tire Rack
dot Com studios. Now, this is an interesting conversation because
I can definitely see how someone can view it either way.
Justin Fields is currently the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers
two and zero, looking pretty solid, not great, kind of
(23:00):
looking like Eli Manning right now. And the conversation becomes,
should he stay or should he get once Russell Wilson's healthy?
Give Russell the start? It was presumed that Russell was
going to be the starter initially, then he gets nicked up,
a little banged up, and Justin Fields has been the starter.
You and I got a chance to talk about a
little bit, but you got Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano
(23:21):
published their weekly News Notes column today and they were
saying that Followers saying, how this is why Russell Wilson
is likely to get another chance once he's healthy.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
You where are you on this?
Speaker 7 (23:32):
We're winning, keep rolling with it, or Russell Wilson's our
guy once he's healthy he's back out there.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
I'm with Russell Wilson, And here's the reason why, Justin Fields.
You ready, The offense for Pittsburgh has one touchdown in
twenty one drives this season. I know they're winning games,
and you talked about the defense. They won the first
week on all field goals, So it's not unlike he's
(24:02):
putting out putting up stats and you're like, my god,
we finally got him. He came from Chicago, he's got
the offense, he's got the weapons, he's doing his thing.
The offensive line is holding up and all that fields
has gone thirty for forty three two hundred and seventy
three yards.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
That's like one.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
Hundred and thirty five yards a game. That's nothing. And
the only reason that this works with one touchdown is
because he hasn't turned the ball over.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
He was.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Number one on the Pillsbury list for turnovers in Chicago.
That's all he did. Fumble, tour, interceptions. It was always
a turnover, okay, and he hasn't done that. This guy
is two turnovers away from losing the job because that's
his history. He's got to do more than this. This
is getting by because their defense is so good, and
(24:53):
I get and I get it. You're like, well, you're winning.
If he was putting up decent numbers, then you could
really make a case us to say why switch out
a wat change? But one touchdown for the offense in
twenty one drives. That's not good enough. And when you
play better teams, you're not gonna be able to win.
Speaker 7 (25:11):
All right, So if you take out Derek Carr, who
is like acting as if he is Drew Brees right
playing great, I know there's really no quarterback lighting it up. Right,
there's a couple who had some solid games.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
Now more than one down twenty one drives. So here's
where I come out on this.
Speaker 7 (25:26):
Justin Fields looks like a solid quarterback right now. Whereas
you thought he could be back up permanently when you
looked at how he played with the Bears. Now we
see with the number one always the most talented quarterback,
Kayler Williams, Oh, he is the best atch Andrew. Look, well,
you see what he looks like right now with the
Chicago on guy's had.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
Two games and the other guy had what three years
in the NFL?
Speaker 7 (25:47):
Right, But I'm saying, now you get him out of
that Chicago Bear situation.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Look at him.
Speaker 7 (25:51):
He's winning, he's productive, he's not turning it over, he's
making amazing plays with his feet. So what Mike Tomlin does,
no matter who's the quarterback, is at least win and
obviously not go below five hundred. So now he's got
a guy with special talent with his feet not turning
the ball over. Young, got some size, and I think
the team likes and is rallying around him. Where we've
(26:13):
had questions about the leadership from Russell Wilson, we've actually
just shot there.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
No. Historically we've had question about his leaders Oh yeah,
the leadership is bad.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
He got them to back to back Super Bowls and
had have not been for an interception, they would have
won back to back super bowl.
Speaker 7 (26:28):
You know what, I'm not gonna let you keep doing
taking away credit from defense and running games.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
Russell Wilson those first two Super Bowls? Was he a quarterback?
Speaker 7 (26:35):
You know what he was exactly what Justin Fields can
be if you give him some time. I'm not gonna
make mistakes. I've let the defense do it. I'll let
the running game know.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
And I know that if Justin Fields this coming Sunday
has two turnovers or pick or whatever, people will be like, Okay,
thank you and be ready to move on from him.
Speaker 7 (26:54):
You're hot town, Russell Wilson, current Russell Wilson, everybody else
is no.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
But that's just how thin the line that you're just
gonna turn the other cheek and say it's okay. If
Justin Fields has a stinker, one stinker will have everybody
turn on him. The only reason no one's dogging his
numbers is because they're winning. But if they weren't winning
one touchdown in twenty one drives and they were owing too,
would they be talking about making a change.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
I'm just asking you off for that. Yes.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
If they were owing too and he had the same
exact stats right, one touchdown in twenty one drives and
two hundred and seventy three yards in two games, people
would be like, you're not getting enough from the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
We gotta make a change. If if was a fifth
we both being here drunk. But it's not.
Speaker 7 (27:39):
He is two and zero, he's playing well, has not
turned it over, hasn't take bad sex and another turn
it over. Let me walk you through the history of
guys who have won this thing and gotten people places.
You brought up Eli Manning, and I told you it
was based around those defense Let's go to another guy
in Pittsburgh who did that. Ben Roethlisberger on his own podcast,
it was asked and he said, I would stick with
(28:00):
Justin Fields reminds me and myself, big strong, mobile, can run,
didn't light it up, didn't put up big stats. But
I got fast Willie Parker, I got the bust drown Betts,
and I got an amazing defense. Let's ride this thing out.
And oh, by the way, I'll only get better because
I'm young. That's exactly sounding like Justin Fields now that
he's young.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
But he was in Chicago, and if they really believed
that he had that, they would have kept him and they.
Speaker 7 (28:24):
Could quarterback, They could have anything. In Chicago. Michael Jordan
might have been the best quarterback they ever had. Sid
who Sid Luckman, Sid Lukman don't even remember him being
a good quarterback in Chicago. I think Justin Fields is
in a position, a unique position, where Bryce Young would
love to be. I was written off, a team got
rid of me. They kind of thought I wasn't going
(28:46):
to be the guy landed in a good position with
a good to great coach, with a great defense, and
a team that is ready to do something right now.
And he's in a position where he can continue to win.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
Now.
Speaker 7 (28:56):
Is he gonna like the scoreboard up and light up
the stats? No, But as long as he doesn't make
terrible turnovers. I don't even think it's if he turns
it over. They can't be terrible turnovers. They can't be
horrible sacks. I think they might ride this thing out.
Mike Tomas the type of dude, the man. They didn't
get Russell Wilson for no reason. They believe last year
in Denvery played well enough. Uh that that is just
(29:16):
a situation where the coach just had it, had it
for him and and didn't want Russ there.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
They took a big hit on the salary, on on
the what they call it the cap, a big hit
to get rid of him. They did something that most
teams would never do. That's a personality kind of situation.
This guy went to two Super Bowls, whether you want
to give him some credit or not. And if you're
Pitchburg then they haven't won in a long time. They
(29:43):
need just finishing over five hundred and I get all
that that's nice, but they haven't had any success. Go
look at their last six playoff games. They can't score.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
But they can't score.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
You can't keep wasting a great defense without having any offense.
Speaker 7 (30:00):
This was BRONC. You know, Russell Wilson from seven years ago.
I'd be absolutely with you, but I ended with this
on meet. For me, that's a great emergency break in
case of emergency. If I got Russell Wilson as my backup,
that's a good situation for Pittsburgh to stay in.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
All right, a whole lot left of the show.
Speaker 7 (30:16):
We got Shekel City coming up, and just a bit
also the Packers. Are they making a mistake bringing back
love too soon? We'll talk about that in just a bit.
It's The Odd Couple Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington on a

not going anywhere, Alex. He gotta quit playing the beggers.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Tell him I'm smile And it's a problem you just

Something we're not evenna talk about.

Speaker 7 (31:34):
You know there's already stereotypes, right, you know, Black people
like this, Black people like that, and they do this well,
two brothers doing radio. And the first thing this man
comes in here eat is what rob Some ribs come once?
And then you know what ribs or who doesn't love ribs?
Speaker 4 (31:52):
Right?
Speaker 7 (31:53):
The man came in here with two two ribs. Now,
don't even know if that's barely plural, it's just so ribs.
It didn't even offer.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
You only get four bones for five dollars at ralphs.
I'm sorry, hold on man, all right, all right, go ahead,
shekel City.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Welcome two Shekel City the whole base for Rob Parker's
day dicks against the Skit. I knew there.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
You know, I needed a bounce back because Kelvin I
was oh and three on Tuesday. On Monday, I should
say today's Wednesday. On Monday, I was owing three. So
I bounced back last night two and one. My total
is now fourteen and twelve here Shekel City. These were
posted earlier on social media. I have the Mets minus
(32:39):
one and a half runs taken on the Nationals, Phillies
minus one and a half runs against the Brewers, and
I got the Cardinals at home minus one and a
half runs taken on the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
So Cardinals minus.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
One and a half, Philly's minus one and a half,
and the Mets minus one and a half. And Calvin
remember this. Yes, I'm not telling you who to bet on.
I'm telling you who I bet on. Yes, thank you,
that's my disclaimer.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
All right.
Speaker 7 (33:07):
You get with you fourteen and twelve, fourteen and twelve
since we restarted the clock. So you're just basically like
Eli manning a bit.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
Yeah, but again I know the big touchdown winning game
winning touchdown.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
No, you do you're doing.
Speaker 7 (33:21):
Plus besides, you're above five hundred, so I can't even
call you that's disrespectful.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
All right, you, Uh, you're passionate about this.
Speaker 7 (33:27):
Just lately you've been really big on the folks who
are injured and folks sitting teams trying to get their
injured stars back out there. Jordan Love returns to practice.
We know he's been out. Everybody was excited. A lot
of people had excuse me, the Packers as a sexy
pick to maybe make it to the NFC Championship game,
have the nerve to make it to the Super Bowl.
He is back from practice since that knee injury. Ahead
(33:50):
of Week three, they got the Titans that they're going
to be facing. Uh so he has an MCL sprain,
expected to be out for quite some time, but now
he's starting to practice, and now they're starting to get
the eye could we get him out there sooner than expected?
He was limited in practice, but they're thinking about, hey,
can we get him back on the field and get
back on track to a season or again where they're
(34:11):
looking at maybe a playoff bit and maybe trying to
make a deep run in the playoffs. Uh, you don't
think this is a good idea. No, there's no reason
to rush him back.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
If you bring him out there and then he gets
hurt or re injures himself, now you might lose him
for the season or for much longer. What helped the
Pack is it that they won last week? They won,
so they're not the two hole and the Titans.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Are no good. This is the one you rust them.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
You're not like you're ohero to two and your season
could go down the drain if you lose two with
some good team, you know what I mean. And you're
in a situation you're playing the Lions in Detroit or
something like that, and you can fall behind oh and
three and your season's over.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
You're not on that you won last week.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
So why in the world are you rushing a guy
who was supposed to be out much longer and just
have a miss one.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
It just doesn't make any sense. I don't understand the thinking.
Speaker 7 (35:09):
Well, I think the thinking is maybe the injury is
not quite as bad as we thought initially.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
Right.
Speaker 7 (35:16):
That happens, right, a guy gets injured in any sport
and they say, hey, he's out five weeks, six weeks,
six to eight.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
And one week like I get it if if you
said five and he's a three, yes, so you can
see that. Right.
Speaker 7 (35:29):
This is the first time I mostly agree with you
and that there's no rush because the Lions are one
and one, so it's not like they're running away to
and all you're nervous. Okay, they might get a couple
of games up on us. Uh do we buy the
Vikings quite yet? Yes, they're having some success early to
and on, but you don't necessarily by them.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
And then the Bears our mess.
Speaker 7 (35:47):
Right, there's a one in one though there are on one,
but you're not overly worried about them. You figure, hey,
we'll have our shot at them. We can get it,
we can get with them. So an extra week, to
be honest, and extra two weeks, plenty of season less
plenty of times.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Want to remember last year they Jordan Love didn't have
a great first half and then got it rolling in
the second half, and look what happened and they won
the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
They steam rolled Dallas. That was second half.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
If you let this guy get healthy, nobody's running away
with the division. So that's the reason it doesn't make sense.
Had they lost last week and you're like, oh my God,
we could be owing three and then you're playing Tennessee.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Tennessee's ohing two. They're not good.
Speaker 7 (36:29):
Now, Will Levis is gonna give you seven points. Will
Levis is gonna you upset. Soon as the game starts,
you're up seven zero, like he already has given you
seven points. But again, this is one time we agree.
I don't think there's a need for the rush. The
only thing I can think is if Matt Lafleur is
under this feeling like he's under pressure right this season,
I gotta get it done. I gotta make something happen.
And if he is maybe over compensating here, but unless
(36:52):
it is worseap Wednesday, and unless a miracle is happening
in Green Bay right now, I'm not rushing it. There's
no real need.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (37:00):
You've got this guy for potentially the next ten to
fifteen years, and you have gotten one thing right, if
nothing else in Green Bay, that's quarterback playing the last
thirty plus years. They're gonna have three quarterbacks for forty years.
That's what incredible. They're like the Pittsburgh Steelers when it
comes to coaches. Three coaches in the last like fifty
sixty years. So I think we agree that no real
(37:22):
need to rush it again unless all of a sudden
he's just he's young, he's healthy, and if he's having
a much speedy, speedy recovery, then expected. But don't need
a rush.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
But Malik Willis did fine. They won their first game.
Speaker 7 (37:33):
Run I throw, don't throw up on the ball, the center.
Don't throw on the ball. You don't want to agree. You
don't want to grab that Yeah, by the way, I
was listen, I ain't mad at him. If you throw
up on the ball, I don't want to grab that
ball either. We're gonna call a time out. Bring the
water boy out here, spray that ball down. He had
the center who threw up on the ball, and Malik
Willis was like, nah, brother, I'm not throwing that thing.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
When they found out that maybe Jordan Love would play,
I think Malik said, what you're talking about?
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Willis? You were doing so good. I saw you.
Speaker 7 (38:03):
I saw you thinking about it, and you were like,
maybe I shouldn't do this, squeeze it and you shouldn't
have done it, But you messed around and did it.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
See, Rob, there's an important thing. You didn't take time
to think if you should do it. You just did it.
Speaker 7 (38:15):
I just did it. It's called radio, all right, Radio?
How much is too much in the game of baseball?
Oh my, that's the conversation. We're gonna have wrong on
this one. Coming up in just a bit. It's Rob
Parker kelvin Washington. They odd couple Fox Sports Radio on
a worse of Wednesday.
Speaker 6 (38:32):
Stay with your boys, stick and stay stick and stay America.
