Speaker 2 (02:47):
Nineteen years, that's kind of a long time. That's a
long time old show.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
That's a bit that's a bit much like ten years.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
And man, hey, you know what a great TV theme song.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Thursday, we got We're to take Call baseball, Brewers and
Mets just about to start in Milwaukee, and then we
got NFL football. The Bucks are at the Falcons, So
there's a lot of stuff going on, Kelvin, But first,
let's welcome in the odd couple crew because you be
able to do this fine radio program without him. Rob
G is our producer, not able body, but just producer.
(03:20):
Alex is our engineer. You've heard Alex Steve de Sager,
the best in the business. He's at the anchor desk.
He'll keep us updated throughout the program. And Elijah, who
is our social media guru. When you see all that
good stuff on social media, it's because Elijah is doing
his thing. All right, Kelvin, are you ready to jump
(03:41):
into this. Let's jump into the pool.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
And Rob G are you going to start this off?
Because Caitlin Clark won the WNBA.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
That was quick though.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
The seasons just thought right, already the awards are going
out to the playoffs I think are going on.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Correct, are the playoffs going on? The playoffs are going on.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Rock glad to see her happening on the sports.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
I'm just you know, there's certain things I'm paying atend.
They're already eliminated by the way, Kaitlyn Clark.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
I did know that.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Okay, that I didn't know because the ratings dropped seventy
five percent, so I did know that. But anyway, Rob
g we got news about Caitlyn Clark.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
That's right, Kaylyn Clark.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
Rob Parker's favorite WNBA athlete was earlier today WNBA Rookie
of the Year. She had a phenomenal season, as you know.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Even though all the people who played women basketball said
she couldn't play and they didn't know what she was
going to do and she would be in for a
rude awakening, you remember all that.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
Yeah, and the fact that half of the WNBA fans
hater Apparently she was able to overcome all of that.
We shall over run away with the w NBA Rookie
of the Year award a near unanimous vote, got sixty
six of the sixty seven votes, the lone descending vote
went to Angel Rea, who had a hell of a season.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
So I was about to say that for her to
get one vote is not crazy, guys.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
I hope people listen.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Kayla Clark had an amazing second half of the season,
for sure, but your girl Andjury set records for double
doubles and so let's not act like that's Asinhi.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
The only reason I'll say here's where I'll disagree. And
I'm hoping that it's not from a writer from Chicago,
because that's when I started, I know, and when you
start to see that, and I'm a voter and I
respect everybody's vote, Everybody's not going to vote the same way.
That's not the kind of world we live in. Everybody
values different things. But if you remember a couple of
(05:37):
years ago when Aaron Judge beat Sho hail Tani when
they were both in the American League for MVP, and
forget that, Judge set the American League record for home
runs or whatever, and whether or not, show Hay had
a really good year as well, and he pitched, and
I got all that, But the two show Hey votes
(05:57):
were both writers from Anahei, just like of all the
like if it was one from Chicago and Milwaukee or
New York, did you be like, Okay, somebody had a
differing point of view. But it does feel kind of
funny right when it's from the city of the place.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Where the other person's from.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
I mean, listen, all that does.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
All that does is remind you that at the end
of the day, these writers can also act like fanatics
or fans, where fans are gonna be blindly voting for
whoever's in their city, whatever the sport is, I want
to see such and such.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Person in an All Star Game.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
And sometimes it's the same things with these reporters where now,
obviously it's not gonna be a crazy pick, but if
you're in Chicago, yeah, and.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Ames Ree, you're like, what pick? It's not correct R
And that's not a crazy pick.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
So it happens from time to time the question becomes
you recall some years back when they switched the NBA
voting to put your name on it. They made you
put your name on it, rob because people like Michael
Jordan had never had a unanimous MVP, which sounds crazy
to think about now. Lebron never had a unanimous of MVP,
so on and so forth, and then stuffh Curry came
(07:04):
around and everybody starting to have to put your name
on it so we can see who you were and
start to judge you for your picks. So if you
said something crazy like hey, you know and the Jordan there,
if you were like, no, I'm telling you Clyde Drexer
was the MVP, we can know who you were.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
How did you feel, somebody who's been.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
In the game when they started to demand we wanted
to see you put your name in the stamp on
it versus an anonymous version.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Yeah, I don't think you have to. I do.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Like when we do the Baseball Hall of Fame, you
have a right to check the box. Do you want
your vote to be public like you can. I'm not
running from anything, but you talk about some of the NBA.
I mean, can we talk about even in baseball, Babe
Ruth not unanimous, Willie May's not unanimous.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
I could go on and on and on.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
The first unanimous baseball player was Marioto Rivera, like five
eighty seven years ago, Like seriously, like of all the
great players, Mickey, I could go on and on about
all these great players and people voted against them, So
I get it. We're not that kind of society. People
have different you know when you look at stuff. And
(08:11):
I'll say this for people always like, ohj.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Doesn't want the writers.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
You're in the role and they don't like German people
and they hold it again them and no, the writers
are still the best people to vote because they really
cover the sport. They don't have any And we saw
this with Caitlyn Clark with the other former players like
a lot of times and current players, there's a jealousy
(08:39):
factor because you're involved, right, the writers aren't involved.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
When the NBA allowed the players to.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Vote for the All Star Game, do you remember that, Kelvin.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
I don't know if you remember.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
One hundred and forty players did not vote for Lebron
James to be on the All Star team. That's a
disqualified player from be I'm serious, because how in the
world could they not vote for him in an exhibition game.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Listen, you're gonna absolutely what you're gonna get is the
writers are not always gonna get it right. But the
fact is you have folks who at least their goal
is to focus on said sport, to watch said sport,
to cover set sport to have conversations with other writers
and get this information and try to be objective, try
to be unbiased, such as say, but they're not always
(09:26):
gonna get it right. But when you start mixing in
fans who are gonna vote for Key k Hernandez to
be an All Star if it's in LA, You're like,
I like Kiki, But settle down. Now you know they're
gonna vote for Austin Reeves to be a Laker All Star,
so on and so forth. And then you got the players.
I ain't voting for him because me and him are beefed.
I got this issue out of like when we were
on teammates, you know teams we had beef and drama
(09:49):
or you're gonna start getting all that mixed in. So
no system is perfect, But to your point, this is
probably the best system that we have.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Yeah it is, And would it have been awesome? Like
to be unanimous is pretty sweet, Caitlyn Clark. But to win,
but to get every vote except for one. We saw
it with Lamar Jackson. He's won two MVPs, only one
person in the voting system didn't vote for him. On
those two he had a unanimous one, which was the
(10:21):
second player ever, right, Tom Brady was the first, and
then Lamar and then he had a second chance and
one person didn't vote for him.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
And I don't think got taken away from anything.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
No, it doesn't take away for night.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Nobody remember Jordan has five MVPs, Lebron has four, so
on and so forth. You don't remember exact which one
he won by a vote margin of this or that.
You just remember, hey, Lebron got four MVPs, Jordan has
five MVPs, so on and so forth. And I don't
also think Lamar's was Acidine to pick Josh Allen, or
if it was Patrick Mahomes, like, I mean, we did
an article or we had a conversation about it. Yesterday
(10:54):
we had the Athletic did the vote with some one
hundred plus players, and a lot of them think Josh
Allen should have been the MVP last year. And so
I mean, you're always going to get it where there's
a guy or another girl deserving.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
I don't know the players. I don't know how they
could be that wrong like in that poll. And then
I'm not saying that Josh Allen didn't have a really
good season, but if you look at the end of
the year when they really ran off those five or
six to finish the season, they were running the ball.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
He made the Bills.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Yeah, the Bills were running the ball. It wasn't It
wasn't by passing.
Speaker 6 (11:25):
Well.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
I mean again, they were in part of the article
they talk about how his stats mirror Lamar Jackson's and
all that, But I think Lamar's impact and Lamar just
as far as his impact, it's just a hair above.
It's just and even this year we just saw it
against Buffalo, and it's just something about the system and
the way he plays and he just it's scarier when
(11:46):
Lamar Jackson has thirty three and now you had to
arder to put Dereck Henry back there finking about it.
But I want to go back to this Caitlyn Clark thing.
Another thing Rob G and I were talking earlier. She's
had a remarkable rookie year. You talk about Rookie of
the year, you talk about that second half maybe even
you know, the last two thirds of her season, she
started putting up crazy numbers. Right, had to get her
(12:08):
feet wet, had to get her set, get set. But
they also throw a bunch on her Man too. They
throw a lot on her. I'm starting to see ROB
her own players in the league. She should be doing
more for social justice. She should be doing more for this.
She should be saying that. I'm like, dang, she just
gotten the league, y'all expecting her to be Kareem abdul Jabbar,
you know, or something like that. Like I'm not saying
(12:28):
she can't get there, but dang, y'all. The girl was
just in college three four months ago.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
They throwed a lot on her already. But she had
a remarkable season. What she did for the business and
her team and for she should be praised for that,
for sure.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
No doubt.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Did you have
a problem with Caitlin Clark not being named a unanimous Rookie.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Of the Year in the WNBA And would.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
You prefer if the awards voting was done by the
players rather than the media. We'll get into that conversation
and get you involved. It is the odd couple on
a TV theme song Thursday right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
And you know what to do. You need to stick and.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Stay unless you can't do more with only a few
months into the WNBA.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
There you go.
Speaker 7 (13:16):

Speaker 3 (14:11):
All right, eight seven, seven ninety nine On Fox, it
is the Odd Couple on a TV theme so on Thursday,
and we want to hear from you on this Caitlin
Clark not being unanimous. Let's start with Q in Phoenix.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 8 (14:26):
What's up, cute, what's happening to fellas? How you having
what's man? I'm doing well man driving home from work. Listen.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
We appreciate your support always.
Speaker 8 (14:36):
Yeah, definitely, Man, I appreciate you. Man at the love
of baseball. Man, that's my favorite sport.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Man, Come on, bro, you know it, let's do it.
Speaker 8 (14:45):
Yeah, my wife's house didn't do too good this year.
But once upon a time the Kansas City Chiefs was garbage. Yeah,
what's a fun time. But anyway, and just Reese, how
can you how can you be mad that that she
got one vote? How how she so? I don't have
(15:08):
a problem with that. And the second thing is I
like the fact that you have to put your name
go through a rock and then high put your name
on there and say, hey, I voted for this person.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
I always I always allowed them to put my name
on my vote. I'm not a You shouldn't be afraid.
Everybody to to and thanks for the call, cute.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
You shouldn't be afraid.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
It's just like, what if this is your vote?
Speaker 3 (15:36):
What do you so what? Everybody's not going to agree
with it. It's not the end of the world. But
what do you think Let me ask you this, Rob,
what was it historical? Historically? What was the reason why
you know it was uh protected?
Speaker 4 (15:48):
Like that?
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Was it just because, like you said, Hey, I don't
want to people to see me.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
I don't want any pressure.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
I don't want anybody having issues or smoke with me,
because I mean, it always seemed like, you know, if
you're a sports writer, you're writing about these athletes anyway,
often criticizing them or being critical. So what would be
different if at the last day you put your name
on a voter, an All Star voter, an MVP or
Rookie of the Year vote.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Go ahead and say with the chest.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
I just think we're more transparent now and people can
get at you and stuff like that. We're in the past.
If you didn't like a writer's vote, your case of
action or point of action right with to write a
letter to the editor, you know what I mean, Like,
that's the difference. I don't have a problem where people
don't like it. I've had people kind of be critical
(16:30):
of my votes, but.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
I don't care. Let's just go to Nick and Albany.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (16:36):
What's up?
Speaker 9 (16:36):
Nick, I always said one of my favorite shows, and
when it twitched over, I was very sad. But you
guys are doing a great job. So I want to
give you that applause.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Well, thank you, nick yep, appreciate that.
Speaker 9 (16:49):
No problem. I feel like with Talen Clark, if they
let the players vote, it would be maybe ten percent
that would give her the I do not think that
they like her, and I'm and.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
They're jealous and they're jealous.
Speaker 9 (17:05):
No, no, I know that. And I honestly wait, wait.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Wait, wait wait, you said you said ten percent would
give her of only ten percent.
Speaker 9 (17:12):
Will give her a vote, but would not say that
she's the MVP. And and this is my honest opinion.
And I think it's because she's white. I honestly do
and and and I know that will be huge disagreement,
not if that's what.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
You if that's what you really believe. And I think
there is some of that with Caitlin I do.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
I think there's a jealousy factor that she's gotten all
this attention, all these deals and money, and you know,
like there was a lot of pushback on her, even
from some white female basketball players, so so well.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Jealous this is jealousy too.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Yeah, there's definitely. I mean I think it's I think race. Listen,
we're in America, okay, and Race is.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Gonna play a large portion in a lot of conversations.
But along with Race, I also think it was just
so much, so soon we that doesn't typically happen in
the WNBA. Right, you have these more established stars, you know,
to at least two three years in before they kind
of get all this publicity, and you got to think,
I mean, this is again, Race absolutely plays a part,
(18:13):
But she was coming in hot. She's coming in the
hottest thing smoking, She's got mega stars at a college
basketball game, she's got mega endorsements in college, She's got
bigger endorsements than most of the best players in the WNBA.
So I absolutely think Race, But I also think it
was just we've never seen someone coming in so mercurial,
someone so hot, white hot figuratively and literally, and just
(18:36):
coming in, you know, with so much momentum. That usually
doesn't happen in the WNBA. It takes time to grow that,
and she came in with a brand.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
Let's squeeze one more.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
In Mike and Montana, you're on the odd couple Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (18:48):
What up, Mike, guys, I do have a problem with
Caitlyn Clark not being unanimous because arguably no other rookie
in the history of the w NBA has done as
much for the sport as she has. I mean, they
didn't even have chartered flights until she came into the league.
You know, she has more of an impact beyond just
(19:09):
the score sheet than any other person that's come into
the w NBA. Now back to the voting, though, I
one hundred percent agree that the writers need to have
their names on these ballots so there's an accountability and
a transparency to it. As an example, if you'll remember
when Derek Jeter was being voted on in the Hall
of Fame, right, he didn't unanimously. He's part of the
(19:30):
three thousand hit club, four time world champion. I mean,
the guy was a transcendent figure in baseball. How someone
did not vote for him for the Hall of Fame
is just crazy.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Mike, I hear you, and I just said the other one.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
How did anybody vote for Hank the unanimous Hank Aaron
Willie Mays? I didn't on and on and on, absolutely,
you know what I mean, Like, who didn't vote for
Willie May seriously, like I just can't even understand that.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
By thanks, appreciate the call.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Yeah, none of And that's why again, that's why I
think we're all in agreement with putting you, putting your
name on this, saying it with your chest h so
that we can start to really have these conversations, because
there's a lot of people that are right now, what
are you doing here? Again, it could be petting this
from a rider like I have issues with this. Maybe
this athlete never gave me the time of day. I
don't like the way they looked at me. I had
issue in press conferences with them. Whatever, or again I'm
(20:25):
sticking up from my guy, my gal in the city
in which I write. Maybe it is a writer from
Chicago who wrote injuries but again, Injuries balled out and
absolutely for half of the season, legitimately made in case
to be the Rookie of the Year until Kyler Clark
had a second amazing second half of the season.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
I'm not gonna lie, Rob, that was a little weird
Baseball ABC.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
I kept throwing me off.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Yeah you remember Monday, Monday Night Baseball was on ABC
in the old days when you know, you didn't have
cable and all that.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
No, no, no, and I don't remember you said the
old days you.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Steve, you remember Monday Night go sell all those gods?
There was all sense Kirk Coounty NBC before and it
was one game a week. That's right, hey, Rob and Steve.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
Guess who doesn't want to hear about that? Joe Cina
Anderson did.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Not want to hear about baseball?
Speaker 4 (21:23):
You did, like you didn't want to buch.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
No, she don't want to hear about them olden days?
What I'm talking about? Coming to you live from the
Tireck dot Com Studios. It is The Odd Couple, Rob
Parker kelvin Washington, joined now by Joe Cina Anderson, senior
NFL insider and podcast hosts.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
You can follow my girl.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Joe Cina Anderson at Joe Eaton, Joe Cina Anderson on Twitter.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Joe Cina, thank you for joining the show.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
I've anologized you had to hear about Mickey Manno, and
all those old heads in baseball.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
I'm sorry for that.
Speaker 10 (21:53):
Listen. It's always a good time when y'all yucking it up.
So it doesn't matter, y'all go back and forth like
a sentence match. Is okay, that's.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Right, no doubt about it.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Let's start.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Obviously, there's a NFL game to night Tampa Bay and
the Falcons. What did you make of Tom Brady, you know,
shooting back at Baker Mayfield and then let me just say,
this is Joe Cina before we get your take. The
only thing I was surprised by, first of all, that
you know, he's the analyst for the Big Game on
(22:24):
Fox Now, and he's kind of if he had an
issue with Baker Mayfield, he could have gone straight to
him to his locker, talked to him in his face
to face. But even the comments about what was used
to what used to be, what was it, what it used.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
To be like in Tampa when Tom was there?
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Wouldn't that come from teammates from Tom, you know what
I mean? Baker wasn't there during that time, So I
just thought that it was weird that he's taking it
out on Baker. But Baker probably got that from teammates.
Speaker 10 (22:53):
I mean Look, you know, Tom Brady is very savvy
and very much aware of the media space. He's building
up his media conglomerate right now as he has you know,
things on Netflix and is on Fox with you guys
and obviously just building his you know business. So I think,
(23:13):
to me, all of his comments I take with the
Grand and Stall, it is not anything that I'm you know,
feeling like it is something that he's really trying to
be serious about. I just think that it's all part
of his whole kind of commentary and his stick of
everything that he's doing right now. And I have a
lot of respect for Tom Brady. He's very smart and
(23:34):
he also was smart enough to know that Baker Mayso
is a type of player that would you know, engage
in that and kind of has no problem, you know,
having the confidence to kind of go back and forth
with Tom Brady either. So it's just like you said,
they're not even there at the same time, much respect
to Baker Mayfield for the things that he's doing with
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I mean, if you think about
(23:56):
where things were when at the time where Baker was
with the Bread and things were falling apart in Cleveland
and he was getting back into it kind of at
least with the press as the relationship at the time
at the time because they've now since made up. Kind
of breaking down with him and OBJ and then having
to go to Carolina and not work there. There's a
(24:20):
lot there's a lot of things that I personally, you know,
because even back then, when you know, I was doing
various reports at the time, people were talking about Baker
May for not getting the ball to OBJ and all
these other things, and I just personally think that he
has evolved a lot. He is in a deeper state
of appreciation for what he had upon coming into the league. However,
(24:41):
that doesn't stop him from you know, getting into the
hit in chat with Tom Brady. But I'm not really
taking it too seriously.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
Yeah, I liked it. You know what it did for me, Josina.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
I told the guys, I said, it got Tom Brady
fired up, because of everybody else was kind of yeah,
it's been made his broadcasting thus far.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
That was a best part he's done. Just get fired
up and go at Baker.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Maybe that's what he needed, like he needed that on
the football field. I transitioned to this Josina we've already
got some drama quarterway through the season. You can go
multitude of different ways if you want to talk about
what's happening with the Jets, and if you want to
also say they might be having a reunion between DeVante
Adams and also Aaron Rodgers. What's going on there with
the Jets? You got chest bumps or hugs that aren't
(25:25):
going the right way. You got Garrett Wilson already talking
about the offense is not what it's supposed to be.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
What's going on in New York?
Speaker 10 (25:32):
Well, okay, let me answer that last part. So the
last part is is that you know, obviously it came
out that you know, DeVante Adams's requested the Trader would
like not to be in Las Vegas anymore. In the
minute that the news came out that he had a
hamstring injury, like this past Friday, for those of you
who follow me on Twitter, I think Adam Schefter had
(25:53):
you know, said something about it, and then immediately with
saying something else, and I tweeted this gift about the Dots.
Because I've covered the NFL for twenty years, you know
from there, listen, there've been how can I say this
without saying this, you know, it's a curious hamstring injury.
So as soon as I saw that, I tweeted, Okay, folks,
remember that the trade deadline is November fifth.
Speaker 7 (26:15):
You know what I say.
Speaker 10 (26:16):
And then boom two three days later, sure enough, because
it's like and again I'm not you know, I'm sure
at this point in the year there's attrition. You know,
there's wear and tear. Boom, boom boom. But at the
same time, I've been covering the league for a long time.
I felt like I saw what was coming.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
Now.
Speaker 10 (26:30):
To answer your question, the tone that I got in
my conversations with the Jets is that, you know, just
gathering research. Let's gather information. The Jets leaves tonight from
form Park for their trip to London, you know, to
play the four no Viking, and I sense that the
concentration is on that. So now you know, fans are
kind of gapping at me. In the comments of Jesse
(26:50):
and Joe, Zuglis has nothing to do with the you know,
the trip and the da da da da da. He
can still have conversations, yes, but what But what also
that's intimating is that if there's nothing eminent at this time,
and obviously, regardless of the fact that Joe Douglass is
in the navigation chair in terms of conversations, you know,
whatever temperature you want to attribute to it, you know
(27:12):
now or where it can go. There's still people that
Joe Douglass have to collaborate in the building with in
terms of their opinion and their input. That's why you
have coaches, That's why you have scout and that's why
you have a front office. He's not just gonna sit
behind the curtain and go yeay or nay. You know,
so yes that that it's like, you know, sometimes they
already say I'm writing too long, and then it's like,
(27:32):
you want me to write two more pages to explain everything.
Some things need to just be inferred, you know what
I mean?
Speaker 3 (27:38):
No doubt our guest is J'll see the Anderson of course,
senior NFL Inside a podcast hosts Let's let's go here,
Sam Donald in Minnesota with the Vikings. What a turnaround
and they're off to a great start, and uh is
he the MVP of the league as we speak right now?
Speaker 10 (27:59):
I think that there are just a lot of quarterbacks
right now that just exemplify being a testimony and for
whether it's fans, whether it's people, anybody who has just
gone through ups and downs in lives, any time where
you've you know, been rejected or you felt there's been
a narrative attached to you. I like the fact that
(28:22):
Sam Donald, I like the fact that Baker Mayfield Geno.
You know, a number of these quarterbacks have gone to
different places and are and are doing well in different
environments even after they were tossed aside or not thought
of as well. Though you know, obviously a lot of
them are high pick number one overall picks, you know,
(28:43):
since Sam Donald a third overall pick twenty eighteen.
Speaker 8 (28:46):
Or what have you.
Speaker 10 (28:47):
So I think it's just remarkable. I think it's a
testament to the importance of being not only in the
right environment, but also in a supportive environment or one
where you get to still get an up opportunity. After
you've had life happen to you, we have a different perspective.
You know, humility has caught up, you know, appreciation, gratitude
(29:10):
has caught up, and then you get to apply those
internal life lessons to your profession, to your passenger, what
have you. So I think it's great. You know, when
you think of the quarterbacks that have been available over
the last two three years. And you know, even at
the time when Baltimore is trying to decide on what
they were doing with Lamar and Lamar had the non
exclusive tag, a lot of people like, oh, you know,
(29:31):
Minnesota should have done this, Minnesota should have done that.
You know, should they should they? You know, have Kirk,
you know cousins go somewhere else. So the fact that
Sam Darnold has been this pleasant surprise and started a
team off to a four and oh start is great,
and he has an opportunity to be five and zero
against his former team in London this this Sunday, which
I also think will be is a great storyline.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Look at Joe saying that that's why we like you. You
over here about to have us out and talk about
testimonies and all that.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Gus I tell you he was a.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Man, Sam Darnold give up on the still, Joe Cina,
thank you so much for joining us.
Speaker 4 (30:08):

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Scrapp It has been a rough one one and two
last night, Alex.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
I'm now twenty eight and twenty eights.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
Here we are as we are into September, now twenty
eight and twenty.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
I was, yeah, we go to night, let's go. We
got plenty of action.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
My best bet, I'm going with the Brewers minus one
and a half. It is now no score third inning.
Of course, this was all put on social media by Elijah.
This was earlier today also, I got the Bucks plus
two and a half. They're in Atlanta taking on the Falcons.
I'm just out on the Falcons. I just I don't.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
I just did something bother me about the Falcons.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
Offense isn't clicking, and that's the thing we thought would
be clicking.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
Yeah, I'm just so so.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
You know, they're gonna win today, and they're gonna they're
gonna beat the spread and everything.
Speaker 4 (32:32):
You know that, right, just.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Yeah, probably all right?
Speaker 3 (32:33):
And then the Bucks and the Falcons.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
I got the.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
Under under forty three points, So here we go. The
total for the Bucks Falcons game under forty three. I
got the Bucks plus two and a half in the
game over the Falcons, and I got the Brewers minus
one and a half runs beating the Mets. The Mets
let the Brewers get off the mat, and I think
the Brewers will win this series when I thought the
(32:58):
Mets had it locked up yesterday. But remember kelp, everybody did.
I'm not telling you who to bet on. What you're
telling you who I bet on? I need a cold
showered Yes I do.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
Yes, you too? For real?
Speaker 1 (33:09):
Rob, You ever left that crack open just a little
bit of me, the window crack open, the door cracked
open just a little bit so you can maybe run
back to that old thing.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
Have you done that? Ah? Yes, all right, well we've
all done that.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Normally, don't go backwards. But I know what you mean.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
Yeah, you know folks who leave it open just to
go back in case they need to. That's the thing
a lot of folks are starting to say right now
about Tyreek Keel. He has done his best to say, hey,
I'm with the Dolphins. I love it here, I love
what we got going, I love the people here, I
love the community. My family is happy here. He had
said all the right things, Rob Parker, but everyone's focusing
(33:52):
on that last little bit where he just says, hey,
it's still a business. You know, whatever happens happens, you
never know kind of a thing. And and folks would say,
see ooh, right there, right there, he's keeping that window
open to maybe go back to the Kansas City Chiefs.
And I'm saying, what is the man supposed to say?
He didn't say it all the right things. He's happy,
(34:13):
he loves it. The offense is, you know we're gonna
be I've restructured my career here even months ago talked
about want to retire a dolphin. What he's supposed to say, Yes,
it is a business. He could get traded at any moment.
He is absolutely still keeping a little bit of a
crack open in the window just in case. But he's
handled it right. He said the right things. He's been
committed hisself to Miami and has been a baller so
(34:34):
and so even though yesterday we talked about that athletic
poll that said he is the one that the player said,
if they had to start a franchise with somebody other
than a quarterback, it be him.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
I mean, anytime things like this happen, you start to
look and you just realize he's so talented. They don't
have a quarterback now, and depending on what happens with Tua, right,
you know, the guy doesn't want to waste his talent
or waste his time there, So there is always going
to be a chance that players of that caliber wind
(35:05):
up moving on, you know what I mean. I just
think that that's that's natural and there's no knock on him.
I mean, he's not demanding all right too, has heard
I got conyoction, I want out of here. That would
be different, That would get people a reason to be
upset or fans to be mad, you know what I mean.
The first time of trouble, you're bailing out. But if
they make a trade or they do something, he's not
gonna fight it. And I think that's basically what he
(35:27):
was saying, and I don't have an issue with it.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
I don't think he's say I don't have correct I'm
with you, Bro.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
I don't have an issue with the fact that Listen
didn't he didn't do that when you're flirting too much
type of thing, you know what I mean, where like.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
Oh man, it was just so good over there. I
had it with Man.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
I just tell you me and Patrick Mahomes has such chemistry.
I just you know where you'd be if you were
a Dolphin teammate. You like, you know, you're here with
us right now, right if you're a tour obviously injured,
but you'd be like, Hey, what's what's going on?
Speaker 4 (35:53):
Man? To me, he said everything he's supposed to say.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
He's done everything he's supposed to do, So I'm kind
of like laughing at the idea that it's an issue
or that people are reading so far into it that
he look, anything can happen, you know this, Rob. You
could put your blood, sweat and tears into a team,
I mean, first and last out move the family kids
are in school, and if it didn't work out, guess
what happened that off season. They could trade you, they
(36:18):
could cut you, they can release you. So to me,
I think he's saying what every player should say, is
that at the end of the day. It is what
it is, and whatever, you know, whatever happens happens, because
I don't know, I don't control my own destiny.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
Shoot, I could get traded tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
Yeah, it is the case.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
And that's why he talks about the business part, Cuz
somebody might come along and offer Miami something that they
can't turn down and they realize we're not going anywhere.
We can't even score. The game is scored touchdowns. Now
they're struggling. So it's a waste of a talent. And
if you could reset the clock, go get some other people,
you know what I mean, for down.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
The road, then you have to do it. And at
some point you have to give.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
You have to make way and come to the realization
that it ain't happening here. And it's silly to hold
on in such a talented receiver, pay him a lot
of money and not get the production that you expect
from him.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
Well, I don't.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
I think it is working. And it got to our
conversation yesterday. I just think the main cog in this piece,
and it's a credit to what he means to the Dolphins,
is too of being out. I think they realized. Shoot,
like we talked about it. It ain't just a system. We
need to to make this thing work with all these
star receivers.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
So it all.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
We'll see if Tua comes back, or if he decides
to retire or take a year off. We'll have to
wait and see to find out what happens there.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
We will all, man, it's gonna be something. But that
offense when they were all together was pretty It.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
Was Hey, Martin Weiss. Weiss's advice week two. We're gonna
see how we did last week. He joins the Odd
Couple with Fox Sports Radio
