a mask on your right back home? You did not?

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Because I won't lie, I refused to live. I could
sit here and go, oh yeah, I had a mask. No.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Why it's twenty twenty four. We just went through the pandemic.
You should know it should be mandatory. You're stepping in
the minutes you get out of an uber or drop off,
you step foot in an airport mask on Elijah YouTube,
because the way you're looking at me, you and them,
you must not do it either, Rob g you Bree.
I know I'm not crazy. You're the only one wearing

(02:13):
a mask these days. See that's your problem right there, y'all.
Don't learn nothing, thank you. I gotta tell you was
we had a mask on Mary like how you told
me what, Bree, which means you aren't wearing one either.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
I'm gonna keep it a being with y'all.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Don't y'all terrible?

Speaker 5 (02:25):
I let God handle it.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
No, God gave you discernment and wisdom. See y'all be
just come back on Wednesday, Worship Wednesday. We are here.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
But his point was, I don't want to have to
hear you and I don't have to mask up.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
You know what.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Rob G had on a mask, but it was one
of those Scooby Doo masks that they pull off at
the end.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
No, kids, it's mister Fairley.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
It's always mister fair And Rob G had one of
those shisty masks because he's starting. He got to go
out here and rob people because he's about to have
another kid. That's what you got to do, for sure.
I know about that life all.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Hey, we got so much to do here. Uh on
this Monday, I'm excited. I was at Dodger Stadium. Uh,
cut the posts you made?

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Just why not?

Speaker 5 (03:09):
Because you don't.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Don't go to Dodger Stadium and make a post out
of Dodger's gonna lose.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
I'm like that.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
I don't like that. Just trying to be what it
is I meant to I meant to tell you about that.
It is what it is. All right.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Hey, let's welcome in the odd couple of crew. We
wouldn't be able to do this fine radio program without him.
Rob g of course, is our producer, Steve the Seger's
at the anchor desk.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
He'll keep us updated throughout the pro brief. That's right,
very nice.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Elijah is our social media guru in the building. That's
right and behind the ones and twos.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Married a hug today. I'm giving you a hug through
the glass.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
She's good man.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Yeah, married, all right, Michigan girl.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Hey uh coming up in the program, Rob Woodson an
hour number two, The Hall of Famer.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
The Hall of Fame. Somebody to be on my side
this Mexic side NFL. Right, yeah, you need help?

Speaker 4 (04:02):
And Kelvin Washington and Calvin Washington say, who covers the
cowboys with the Dallas Morning News.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
He's running the best in the business. When did his
last name become Washington? What do I say?

Speaker 4 (04:11):
I said, Kelvin Watkins?

Speaker 5 (04:15):
What did I say?

Speaker 4 (04:15):
At first? I said, Kelvin.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Calvin Washington, get it right, mister Randi's Watson, like, get
it right, let's get it. We got it. Calvin Watkins
kids who covers? I do have new club name? And
I go, what's your name?

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Calvin Watkins? Calvin and I've known him since he started
for a long time in New York. But anyway, so
we got a lot to talk about, we sure do.
And let's start here with some NFL just real quick baseball.
Mets or Lady sixty three Dodgers have a man on
the bottom of the A. Two outs, maximunthsy up and

(04:50):
the Yankees and Guardians are coming up. And also a
Monday night football game. Big chance for the Jets to
go in the first place when they take on the
Buffalo Bills we have lost to in a row.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
They're in Jersey for that. Oh, you didn't want to
talk about the Bills have done? You just want to
I mean the Jets have done. You just want to
talk about the Bills have done?

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Well?

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Yeah, lost the last year. And don't forget we have
our wing bet on that. Yes we do.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Okay, all right, let's start here. The Lions went down
to Dallas. They smashed the Cowboys, and you think it
was a statement game, make your case.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yeah, well, I mean it's not like as if they
beat some world beaters. But I think sometimes you have
to just go in and do exactly what you're supposed
to do, and is demolish who is in front of
you on the schedule and you can only play who's
in front, right. They couldn't just skip ahead and go
play the forty nine ers, skip ahead to next week
when they play the Vikings.

Speaker 5 (05:39):
The Cowboys are in front of us.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
The Cowboys felt good getting a good, solid win against
the Pittsburgh Steelers the week prior. Let's go in here,
show them we are an NFC championship caliber team, a
Super Bowl going caliber team, and demolished them and show
the rest of the league this is what we do.
What we do is whatever we want. Rob Parker, you
want to run the ball, running the ball with two backs,

(06:02):
giving Montgomery and Gibbs. We want us to pass the ball.
Jared Goff was out there throwing up numbers. You want
us to have trick plays. We throw in an offensive
lineman regularly. I mean, whatever you wanted defensively as well.
And obviously we'll getting aid to Hutchinson in just a second.
But the Lions just showed you to me why they're saying,
I don't forget about us arguably the second best team

(06:23):
in the entire NFL. And that's exactly what you're supposed
to do going there, dominate a team that you feel
is inferior and that suggests what they did, that's what
you're supposed to do.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
That's not a statement game. Okay, because the Cowboys have
given up one hundred and sixty seven points in their
last four home games. Okay, in their last four home
games dating back to last season's playoff loss.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Against the Packers.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Okay, with an upstart rookie quarterback and first year starting
I should say the Cowboys have been outscored in the
first half one ten to thirty five. This season, the
Cowboys have lost their first three home games right for
the first time since twenty ten, and been now scored
by sixty six points in those games. So I'm not
knocking the Lions for doing what they did, but that's

(07:09):
not a statement game. Everybody, this is like the Dallas
Cowboys are the general hospital of the NFL. Everybody gets
well over there. It's like a familiar woman on the block.
Everybody knows her. I'm just saying, and there's nothing special
here with that.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
I'm just you.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Know, you want to wave your Oh look what the
Lions did.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
Oh my god, they just trassed Elijah. I'm so glad
you here on this because if the.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Lions would have lost, nobody would have came in here saying, Roger,
they should have been trying. He would have came in here.
How do you losing the Cowboys? The Lions are front
Dan Campbell. This is exactly what we thought. He loses
the game he's supposed to win. Why you know you
would have did that. I were talking about this this
whole time when you're playing right back here. How can
I make the Lions game insignificant that.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
It wasn't significant. Everybody has beaten the Cowboys down. It's
not like the Cowboys had a couple of close losses
at home, or they were playing well and all that
and the Lions came in and rolled over them. That's
not what happened. The Lions followed the script for all
the teams that have played there before that beat down

(08:21):
by the Packers in the playoffs. The Cowboys had won
sixteen straight at home. They have been a jugger. Not
now if that beating that team like this, Okay, I'm
not going to come in here and give you some
false narrative if that was the case, But you can't celebrate.
They did their job. They're on the schedule. I'm not

(08:41):
taking a poo pooing.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
No no, no, I know now.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
But now this whole idea like you're sticking your chest out,
like they did something, They didn't do anything.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
First of all, First of all, who was sticking their
chest out? The Lions already knew they were gonna beat
the Cowboys on and all of us Lions fans knew
they were gonna beat the Boys. Now a matter of fact, no,
I think you even picked the Lions. So they did
what they're supposed to do. My only point is how
many times have we seen a team come up on
a schedule and they either barely beat them or barely survive,

(09:13):
or they mess around and lose like the Pittsburgh Steelers did.
Who ended up bouncing back this week and looking good
to me? The Lions made a statement. And by the way,
Dan Campbell wasn't playing. Dan Campbell kept his starters in.
He wanted to punish them. Some of it wasn't the
Cowboys faults. It was also the rest fault from last year.
Remember the whole two point conversion and all that. He
kept trying to throw a two offensive linemen. I think

(09:34):
like five offensive linemen caught a pass. I mean they
were trying to make a statement and say, look, we're
smashing anybody in front of us.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
We don't care who.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
They kept going after deck even when Aiden Hutchinson went down,
so to me, they didn't. Nobody said it was a
statement game, as if they were playing on Vikings this
coming week is a statement game because they'll just say
I'm the best team in the NFC North arguably, if
not the best division in all of football. That's a
statement game. When they played the Viking, is this coming weak?
But no, they went in there smacked up the cowgirls.

(10:03):
That's what they're supposed to know. Thought it was my mouth,
Yes you did. You thought they put They demolished them,
and that's what I like to see. Put your foot
on somebody's throat. Sometimes we see that in sports where
they play around, let somebody and they get off schedule,
they don't look good. Go in there, beat them down
like they're supposed to it. In fact, stomp on them boys.

(10:24):
And that's what they did. Made me happy to that.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
When plus two seventy five will get you on the
subway in New York, it's just inflation might not be
that any that's what it is.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
I still take the subway. Still, I'm still hopping over
the little turnstile.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
No, go ahead, don't do it. It's gonna cost you, man,
little blooper.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
We're gonna do what we're gonna do.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Man. Sorry, there we go.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Homer, Homer right there at the Jets at that ball,
gonna drop at the Jets going to the Knight. That
Dodger Stadium is sixty three Dodgers at the time.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
Don't come back and you know what, and you know
what I don't like about you?

Speaker 1 (10:58):
What don't come back from Detroit on a plane ride
thinking about how you're gonna poopo on Detroit. That's craziness,
That's that's just just Why did you not get a
Coney targeted? Did you not what the Coney Island? Yeah,
that's why my man saying whose birthday it was? It
was Chico. Call Tico right, put him on speakerphone. He's
gonna be like, Rob, really, this is what you got
for my birthday party? And the city was turned the
city was turned up. We got a great win, smacked

(11:20):
up America's team. And what did I tell you on Friday?
Rob Gi? Did I tell you the Lions are America's
new favorite team? Aiden Hutchinson going down only heightening because
everybody's rooting for them.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
Now you better get Houston America.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Is you think the loss of Hutchinson you don't think
that's a huge.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
Blow to that team. No, I'm not tall.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
I'm saying that I'm only galvanized the people supporting Alliance.

Speaker 5 (11:44):
That's a big blow.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
I'm not gonna one of my friends, Flage, who was
my former producer in Detroit. First thing he texts, and
he's a Detroit threw it through. Man, we are cursed,
you know, like got this team. Here's this kid bright
who make it could have been defensive player the year
the way he started, right, didn't you have three and

(12:06):
a half sacks the first.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Game and went out on a sack. That's when you
know you gangster. He went out on a.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
Sack and and the video, which is hard to watch,
they didn't even show it on the game.

Speaker 5 (12:17):
I had to go to Twitter accident.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
That's what I saw. Elijah was supposed to tell me,
not to Why you ain't tell me? Man?

Speaker 5 (12:22):
Yeah no, no, losing losing him is huge. But and
he's the guy.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Remember we had that conversation about name a player non quarterback.
You was starting franchising with that's who I said him
or a T. J. Watt, those types of guys. But
I think it's gonna galvanize the team. They're gonna lose them,
They're gonna it's gonna hurt having a loss like that,
But Jared Goff for what they do, would hurt worse
because just he's just get the way that offense goes
and they can score instantly in a multitude of ways.

(12:49):
But they're gonna they're gonna rally around him, and uh,
it'll be that that rallying cry for the rest of
the season for America's New team. Hashtag that America's new team.
You're heard it first? What up? Oh?

Speaker 4 (13:00):
Three one three, No, that's not the number. Oh oh,
I thought you were giving out the number.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
I really thought you.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
I was like, you're giving out a three one three number?

Speaker 1 (13:08):
All right?

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty nine. It is the odd couple
and was yesterday's blowout win over Dallas a statement game?
Don't read it with that, atted Toude, So I'm leading
the jury. No, is it a statement win? An alliance?
We'll continue that conversation next with you. It is the

(13:30):
Odd Couple on a Magic City Monday, Rob Parker, Kelvin
Washington right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (13:36):

right now about the Lions, America's new favorite team. That
Rob Parker just was there and then came back and
acted like he didn't acknowledge that the Lions are great?

Speaker 4 (14:35):
What are we doing here? That's what you came back
with and justly just beat the team that everybody else.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
Will you like the glamoring hoping the Cowboys beat them
so you could be.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
Like the Lions of what we thought, they're not even Lions.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
The Cubs, the Cubs.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
You knew he was gonna say that, Elijah, you knew
he was gonna say that.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Dre in Michigan.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
You're on the couple of Fox Sports, Right.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
I'm good, I'm good.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
Hey.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
It wasn't a statement game for the rest of the league,
but it was a statement game for Lions fans. And
I say that because we went into uh A home,
a place where were historically we don't play three, and
we went and we stamped them out, and we showed
our showed our team that if we don't do bone
head plays, you know, questionable coaching decisions, we would destroyed
teams that we for dray they they've.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
Been losing by Did you see that? Did you hit
the scores? They've been out score one, ten to thirty five?

Speaker 6 (15:27):
Right?

Speaker 4 (15:27):
You you covered Detroit the teams for long twenty years,
twenty years.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
Twenty years and then them twenty years. How many times
did you see the Lions go somewhere where they should
have won the game and Steel lost found a way
to lose.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
So to this Dallas Cowboys team, I don't I Hey Dre,
he Dre Washingtons Rogie when we did our pig pig
skin pickums, didn't Rob pick the Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (15:49):
This is the only one he got wrong he did.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
I just want to make sure, okay, yeah, I just
wanted to make sure that he I was cow on
one right now, state focused on the one I was for.
I don't want to hear about the foward. I said
that they would uh, they would cover the spread. That
were like, they never lose there, they lost five straight.
They're gonna lose again. That's what you said. Now go
ahead and get another call.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Thank I got You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
What's up? Tim?

Speaker 7 (16:13):
Put up?

Speaker 1 (16:15):
What's up?

Speaker 6 (16:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (16:18):
I think it was a statement games. I think it
was a personal statement, not to the league, but to
the Cowboys themselves. You remember, you know when they lost
their last year and Ceee Lamb and those guys were
like waving and clowning. Uh huh. I think that was
just the personal statement to the Cowboys, because how disrespectful
when you you out there running play the linemen and
just doing hooking ladders and you know that was like

(16:40):
you know, like you know, they're saying like I'm gonna
beat you like you suld something. That's what they did.

Speaker 6 (16:45):
That's what they did.

Speaker 7 (16:47):
That's all that was. I'm not gonna say it means
that they're gonna you know, their league, they're gonna win
the NFC.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
My point is just tim that everybody, everybody's been doing this.
This is like if it wasn't that bad, didn't did
you have something to say on that the lines didn't
do what they were supposed to. But everybody is beating
the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
I mean, I'm not.

Speaker 7 (17:09):
Gonna say this is gonna make them winning a seat.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
So why aren't they Though you keep saying that, why
aren't they Because it doesn't mean it doesn't mean I
think no, no, no, no, this that one win. I
get that, But why aren't they healthy?

Speaker 7 (17:20):
Once the forty nine is get healthy, we will be
the team.

Speaker 5 (17:23):
The forty nine.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Are they ever healthy, we will be healthy. Right, I'll
talk to you, I'll talk to you.

Speaker 5 (17:29):
I'll talk to you in December.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Thanks Jim uh Ed in Vegas. You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
What's up? Ed?

Speaker 6 (17:36):
Hey, guys, how's it going?

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Man? What's up? Thank you, my man.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
We appreciate the support always, Thank you.

Speaker 6 (17:42):
All right, man, first thing, I just want to appreciate
and to send up speed recovering.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
Absolutely a sad story right there.

Speaker 7 (17:48):
Sad but uh but I'll tell you what.

Speaker 6 (17:51):
This is rock bottom for the Dallas Cowboys and there's
only one way to go, and that's up. And is
gonna be.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Jerry Jones whiting the bullet next season, getting built by check.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
Do something that's not crazy.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
Folks are definitely starting to wonder that even though he's
been he's still ride with Mike McCarthy as of not.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
Mike McCarthy can't hold a job like after this season.
Mike McCarthy doesn't have a cock, thank ed, doesn't have
a contract for next year. And with these losses at.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Home, these are home losses worst in like decades too.
It's not like, oh, we lost to a better team,
lost thirty two to you know, twenty four. It's like,
all right, that's you know, that's a tough game. But no,
they got Molly watted. Nothing went well for them.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
Dre Andre in Massachusetts, you're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
What's up, Dray?

Speaker 3 (18:40):
How you doing?

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Happy Monday, Happy Magic City Monday? D meet right, get
it branded. We got this day randed. Okay, he got
some singles.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
In his hand.

Speaker 6 (18:49):
Now, Happy Indigenous People's Day, Columbus Day. Look at it.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
Columbus. Ever, he didn't even we like the first one back.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
Columbus didn't even come to this country.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
He didn't even here. You talking about getting some credit,
you got, you got a lot of current.

Speaker 5 (19:04):
First didn't even land here. They need to took over
a country.

Speaker 6 (19:07):
You know.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
I discovered it. Yeah, there were like millions of people there.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
That's not the point.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
I discovered it had spread diseases. Oh go ahead, sorry,
go ahead.

Speaker 6 (19:14):
Right, we won't get too deep, I do. Uh you
brought it up the background. We're talking about the Lions
right now. Listen. They showed well, they put a beat
on the KP Dallas Cowboys. They did what they're supposed
to do. And this is I feel the Lions saying,
look here, you know we're a team that's going to
be in this conversation. Forget about the San Francisco forty
nine ers and all of their star power. We are

(19:36):
the big dogs in the NFC and the Lions are
playing in a very tough division. The NFC is nowhere
near the AFC written large, but every team in the
NFC North is two games under five hundred and in
the mix. So as much as.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
They're talking Bears are better, the Vikings are better.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
I mean, like seriously.

Speaker 6 (19:53):
So there's been a kind of a changing of the guard,
to turning the tide, all of that stuff. I feel
like this is the Lions and it's a tough injury
to a player that they needed on defense. But saying
we're not going to be a one hit winder wonder,
We're here to stay. We built this up on it
and now we are in our championship a window and
we're gonna be a force to be reckoned with in
the NFL. I'd love to see it. I love the
leadership from Dan Campbell. We know who Dallas Cowboys are.

(20:15):
They are who we thought they were, and that's an
old story and it's going to be the line.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (20:21):
I hope it is a story. Let it go one more.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Tony and Milwaukee you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
What's up? Tone?

Speaker 8 (20:28):
Hey man, listen. It was a statement game, okay, was
rightist something? Well, you know the game when they toy
went they started to send that the alignment out to
catch the ball.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
All right, Yeah he had that first Nokia phone. Yeah
that was it. Boost mobile was tripping. Uh no, but
I will echo his sentiments. His point was, like I mentioned,
Dan Campbell was letting the Cowboys, Jerry Jones, all of
them know.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
He was throwing passes all tops.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
So none of that matters.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
None of that matters because it's about winning in the postseason.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
So on now pick the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
It is about winning in the postseason. And mother just say,
be careful about doing all that and all that. You
don't need to do all that get somebody hurd doing
trick plays in a blowout.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
I'm just saying, well, be careful that careful, Mary. I
need some whoop that trick? Can you find from my
Magic City Monday? Pick? Whoop that trick? Is like I
was a Memphis Grizzy. That's what I'm saying, and that's
what I wanted to see. We'll come back get you
talk a little bit about the Dodgers bull and Rob
has some thoughts on that, but right now.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Speaking of, as we're watching this game here, you want
to just continue to poop pool on greatness and things
that have been doing well? Would you like to continue
so far so so? The Lions coming in and taking
care of business, you know, that's nothing. How the book,
the bullpen has been spectacular. Don't make me go Steve
the Seger and quote these stats for you. And now
all of a sudden, the bullpen ain't talking about nothing

(22:02):
for you.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
All I said is I was on MLB Network on
the Showdown with Brian Kenny, and he said to me,
point blank, are you ready to give the Dodgers bullpen
some credit?

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Now?

Speaker 4 (22:13):
I look straight into the camera and I said, no way,
no how, And they can't win a World Series with
the bullpen. Today is a perfect example. Walker Bueller, I mean,
Ferris Bueller should have pitched today on this regular rotation
turn and guess what they did. They instead of starting him,

(22:37):
which they gotta pitch him eventually, right, Kelvin. And it ain't
like he ain't pitching at all. He's gotta pitch at
some point in a seven game series. Why not pitch
him under regular rest, in his regular rotation spot. So
instead they go with the bullpen. They fall behind early
the bullpen. Do you really think the bullpen's gonna pitch
you thirty three innings without a run? How long is

(23:00):
that gonna last?

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Right?

Speaker 4 (23:02):
The Dodgers pitching, I should say, And then the bullpen's
been outstanding, So at some point you gotta understand that.
And if you're gonna win, Walker Bueller is gonna have
to pitch, even if he gave you today four or
five innings or something.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Listen, did you get my point? Walker Bueler has been
Fairs Bueler day off. He's been a lot of days
off of my guys.

Speaker 4 (23:22):
And this is my point on this whole thing, is
that it would this has been done before. The Tampa
Bay Rays have done this for years, all right, the
opener and pitching guys or whatever. And they've won a
lot of games. You can win a lot of games.
What they haven't been able to do is win a championship.
And that's all I'm saying is the Dodgers. The reason

(23:44):
that I changed my pick. I did pick the Dodgers
and the Yankees before the season started, but when this
series started, I picked the Mets in six games. And
the only reason I did I think the Dodgers have
a great team. They don't have enough pitch in a
seven game series. The last series was five. It was
able to work out for him, It's not gonna work.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
I don't think anyone would say that Dodgers have enough
pitching in the sense of they have a bunch of starters.
I mean, guys are injured, and if they're not injured,
they're not playing and pitching how you would expect them
to Allai Walker Bueler. If you go back to two
years ago, he's an ace, he's their best pitcher. You're
excited about him being on the mound, having the ball
in the big Gammy Johnson, Yeah, then he has Tommy Johnson.
He's just not the same and that's just call it
what it is. So I think they've been able to

(24:29):
get magic out of this bullpen. But to be fair,
the bullpen has looked really good all season. Long, So
I don't think going to that well is acidine when
that's what's been working for them. And look, you're gonna
lose a game. Nobody expect them come here in sweet
the Mets. So you go out there and you also
hope the good thing for the Dodgers is you hope
this lineup offensively get some runs going too, so that

(24:51):
if this bullpen does give up four or five, obviously
you don't want to give up seven. But if they
give up four or five, you mess around and still
win five to four, six to five, and you say, okay,
we were able to be in it, compete, our offense
came through and saved the day. And listen, over a
years all over, yep, they is the Dodgers have had
great staffs and lost before. They've had solid staffs with

(25:12):
some injuries and lost before. So why can't they win
this year? Like this can be might be what they needed,
a little bit of different. They got a little extra
fighting them. I like what I see from this team collectively.
They got a little bite in them, something they don't
normally have. Sometimes they're almost too methodical, almost too even
measured to even kill. Just this is how it is.
And they got a little spunk in them. Toy Oscar

(25:34):
Hernandez show, Hey, Mookie's finally coming alive.

Speaker 5 (25:37):
You see what this bullpen is doing.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
They got a little fight in them, more than I've
seen in the last four or five years. So it's
not optimal having to use a bullpen so much. But
you never know, especially with an offense like this, when
they get going.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
I just I don't think you can lose a class now, No, Kershaw,
you don't have any faith in Walker Bulah. Those are
guys that and win, Like if you can win without them.
Why was the juggernaut? The Mets aren't a juggernaut. But
that's not what you see what I'm saying, so like
it's I would give it to you if there are
two teams where you're like, oh, you gotta face that,

(26:11):
But here's here's you have to look at it. The
Mets did exactly what they wanted to do, which was
to come to LA and split. They never they want
to come in here to win two games. Okay, you
got that right. They get seleced in game one, nine
to nothing, and they still go to New York with
what they came for, which was a split and now

(26:32):
three games are in New York. I mean they come
back in the driver's seat. They feel better about themselves.
And now I don't know if walk up Buller picture
in the next game that they didn't want that they
that they didn't want them to pitch at Dodger Oh,
he pitches better on the row.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
He hadn't pitched well anywhere this year on the road.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Like like seriously, but hey, y'all stit. You used to
have to pitch to my guys.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
And we know there's a show, hey moment that's getting
ready to happen, right, Freddie Freeman has looked amazing by
the way, for whatever reason, they get to the World Series,
and even if they don't necessarily wait but they get there.
This story, this see, this is gonna be an amazing
postseason for Freddie Freeman. He's had some great hits, some
clutch moments for them on pretty much a dag near
broken ankle out there. So you still got to picture this.

(27:14):
Dodgers offense. Key k Hernandez has been spectacular throughout his career.
He's a regular guy throughout the regular season, and then
all of a sudden he's spectaculard in the postseason historically
with fourteen home runs in his career. So all right, Matts,
you did what you gotta do. Now, if I'm the Dodgers,
I'm going to New York to do what I gotta do.
You know how bigg he had the song, I'm going
going back back to Cally. I'm going going back back

(27:35):
to New York. Okay, like Snooping is said New York,
New York and the City of Dreams. They're coming across
the buildings like Snooping them did in ninety six or
whatever that video came out. That's fun. But you can't
do it without pitching in the postseason.

Speaker 5 (27:48):
But no, they have done it with pitching. It's just
been a multitude of dudes.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
It's just it's hard to guarantee your bank on the
style because it has been done before and it hasn't
been successfu for as far as winning a World shirw
shoes for them, this day of rest was hues. This
was a game. If you go up too oh, you
know what I mean, you're in the driver's seat. The
Mets have to win four out of five and two

(28:12):
are in LA you know what I mean, Like, you
gotta go to New York. All you need to do
is win one game, and that's not what happened. So
I just think it's gonna be a tough road. The
reason I changed my pick is strictly because I don't
believe they have enough for a seven games because you
gotta win this series, and then if the Yankees or
whatever you gotta, then you're gonna win another seven game
series without a couple of starters who you would count

(28:34):
norm in the season.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
That's true, listen. It's that makes it that makes it
tough for the road. The greatness is never easy arrived.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
And as a matter of fact, because we got Sheeco
City coming up, the people of the greater Los Angeles
area are excited that you change your pick because now
it's almost written in stone that the Dodgers are gonna win.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
It's funny because I picked uh the Guardians, I picked
the uh Med ip Uh Yankees.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
I don't know. I need all this written down. Okay,
Shekel City right now, me and me, look b here,
I don't know. This is Elijah's been through White Elijah.
Elijah does the Shekel City. He's made no I feel
bad for him. You gotta post these up every day.
He's been he's been cashing in. His kids, got plenty
of money for college. I mean already, no.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
Do they this season? This year?

Speaker 1 (29:24):
No? Not this year. I hope he wasn't doubling up
ony doubling nothing on these bets because my guys, so yeah,
we do have Shekel City. Uh. And then also we
get you ready for Monday night football again because you
are all in on the Jets. You're telling me that
they're gonna beat the Bills and all of a sudden take.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
The lead in this division is gonna be tied. It'll
be tied with the Bills, and the season is gonna
turn around. This is the turning point right here.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
You'll tell me why you believe that which none of
us believe. You actually believe that.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
It's The Odd Couple.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
Rod Parker, Kelvin Washington on The Magic City Monday, Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven p
i'm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Rob. Do you hear the song? This? This is what
the Lions did? The Dallas whoop that trick. Whoop that
this It was not.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
No, I guess we're up.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Look, go ahead and kneel down and we'll let the
gnaw whoop that trick. They put it on them NonStop. Okay,
it was payback. It was retribution.

Speaker 4 (30:26):
Nothing like beating on a dead horse. Well that that
horse gots to go.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Now, horses, you want some horse burgers or nah, because
we grounded up horse meat around here. Fox Sports Radio
to Hot Covi with Rob Parker and Kevin Washington on
a Magic City Monday, on a beat Down the Cowboys Monday,
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 5 (30:43):

Tirack dot com the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 5 (31:00):
I'm nervous to even say this. Elijah's here too.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
In these game you looked like Shekel City. I can
always tell looking at your eyes where we're going with this.
All right, it's gonna be a solid one. It's a
soccer city.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
Let's go Yankees minus one and a half taking on
the Guardians in the Bronx top of the first Yankees
coming to bat no score.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
I like that a lot.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
Also, Jets are enjoys he taking on the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
Here comes some crazy Jets plus one and a half.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
I'm taking that as you upset Buffalo has been at
Straw Goodling the last few games. I'm gonna go with
the That game against the Texans was bad.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
What it is, well, shoot, the Ravens was even worse,
really bad the last two.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
But I got the Jets plus one and a half.
Get that new coach bump, you know, like just a
little bit. It might work for one day. It's like
Antonio Pierce. Now now you don't want them. You want
to return them if you could. And then I'm gonna
take the under forty one and a half. The Jets
defense has to be better like they used to. They
used to be pretty good. Everybody was like, oh yeah,
they used to give them like way too much praise.

(32:12):
And now they got to get better and this is
a game that they can play better and if they
do so, there we go again. Yankees minus one and
a half, Jets plus one and a half and the
over under I'm taking the under forty one and a
half under forty one. Yep, the Bills and the Jets.
And remember, I'm not telling you who to bet on.

(32:35):
I'm telling you who I bet on. Well, thank you
for that. Then we make sure we do the opposite.
But the Bills defense hasn't been great either. So I'm
wondering if you know this Jets, as you mentioned, a
little new coach, little new bump. Maybe the offense isn't spectacular,
but they put up twenty twenty one and then you know,
the Bills win by, you know, twenty four to twenty two,

(32:55):
and then they go plast forty one. Right, you're thinking
it's going to be a defensive struggle here, Well, let
me give you this.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
There we go.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
Since twenty twenty, teams that dismissed their coach midseason are
nine and two against the spread. In the first game
with the entrum coach, according to ESPN research, on an average,
increase their point differential by sixteen point three points. I
just expect a little bump, and that's probably but.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
That's what I'm saying. Why I thought you would say
more points, I don't know. Maybe, Okay, So yeah, the
spirited defensive.

Speaker 4 (33:25):
To me, Yeah, like they got to maybe they get
an interception or two or you know what I mean,
where they take up possessions away from Buffalo and the
Jets are able to win the game. And it's maybe
twenty four thirteen, twenty four to fourteen.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
What is that you really hopeful?

Speaker 6 (33:41):
Think?

Speaker 1 (33:41):
You think the Bill's only scoring thirteen coming off with
two losses. Yeah, and they're upset about this too, going
to be at the Jets.

Speaker 5 (33:47):
Jets. The Jets don't even like each other.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Did you see Josh Allen? What was he nine for thirty?

Speaker 2 (33:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (33:51):
It was ord nin think it was like nine for
thirty thirty one.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Yeah, and that day like he gets about to get
right against the Jets, and the Jets don't even like
each other. Everybody's beef and coach offensive coordinators Beef and
Garrett Wilson not happy talking about the offense looks worse
than it did the last two years. Aaron Rodgers don't
look like anybody but Pat McAfee.

Speaker 5 (34:10):
I mean, and this this doesn't look.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Good right now, you know through the season so early,
that is true.

Speaker 5 (34:16):
I don't disagree with this.

Speaker 4 (34:17):
Kim wait to get back to all this tape that
we have on you. That's what I want.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
Whatever. Just remember I like Louisiana Rudd from Wing Stuff.
That's all right, that's the flavor. That's the flavor. Hold on, man,
that was a little too much right there. Slow down
with that. I'm looking for I'm looking to see Josh
Allen and you know later on we're gonna have more
conversations about Lamar Jackson. You like, not that you but

(34:43):
you like what you've seen from Jared Goff. Kayleb Williams
has been coming on strong. This is a game to
mean Kayleb Williams. After a couple of games, I mean ridiculous. Yeah, well, abatu,
she was ridiculous because to me, it's the Bears, it's
not him.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
There was a GM who said it too like that,
like the offensive coordinator and uh and what is the
offensive line? And let that kid down? They called it.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Now he looks. I'm not it's still early, but he's
gonna be fine in the look for the long term
of his career. I have no problem, no issues with that, absolutely,
Kayla Williams, absolutely fine. It's just he went to an
organization that is not used to having a quarterback you
ever had a homeboy that finally got a hottie. He
don't know to act, he'll not a treater. He don't

(35:25):
know what to do. And you're like, yo, man, calm down, relax,
or this is what you gotta do. Wait, where are
you taking her? Rob? You can't take her to Rob.
You can't take her to Fridays? Come on, Rob, you
gotta step it up. Can't you at least get mass
Stros or something like that too soon? Yeah? Wow, what's
up with that? Good? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (35:41):
A little little something wrong?

Speaker 1 (35:42):
And Detroit? Yeah something casswater lion suck. He came back
mad at Detroit? Rob, Ge, It's okay, what did you
take you know? I know you took her the wrong spot? No, no,
you know they got a ganga new and not even
it's not even the same city right now, So don't
please don't tell me you took.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
Her to like I didn't take her anywhere. She was
a no show. Yes, that's bad.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
You know me, man, you know I want you know,
I want to cancel. This entire show is dedicated to this,
like no more football. I want to dedicate this because
what you don't know about me, I'm hitch. No I
am hitch. No, I don't mean hitched like I'm married.
I mean I'm hitched Will Smith in the movie hitch. Oh, Okay,
I got you like I'm kissing. There is a bunch

(36:24):
like I am the man that I can't, you know,
because I got my beautiful bride. So it's just chilling here.
So let me help you out, brother, if you need this.
This is what you did.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
You were you too thirsty?

Speaker 4 (36:34):
No, I'm not thirsty or your kid now had a
gallon the water before I got me?

Speaker 5 (36:38):
Were you? Were you too or too much?

Speaker 4 (36:39):
When she freaked out, ain't Mary, I'm fly all the
way to Detroit. You can't cancel on me?

Speaker 5 (36:46):
I mean, what was the reason she can?

Speaker 6 (36:48):
Like?

Speaker 5 (36:48):
She don't really what was her reasoning?

Speaker 4 (36:50):
No, I don't even want to get it.

Speaker 5 (36:51):
Kids were sick?

Speaker 1 (36:53):
No, she didn't have any kids.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
I'm just trying to like, what was it? Or did
she literally not answer you? No, she answered me. She
didn't ghost me. Come on, you can Are you the
ghost me?

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Now? That would be the worst. That would be the worst.
She said she couldn't make it. That's all over. I'm
a little disappointed in her. Big Now here's a real question.
She doesn't listen to the show. So did you have
a plan B?

Speaker 4 (37:16):
No, I didn't have a plan B because I came
to go with her. Do we know her before this
or we only know her digitally? This is all digitally
known her for years for years. So maybe she's over
Rod Parker. Maybe she started playing games. She wants you
to wipe what was there. She took me out to dinner.
We had a great time. We talked about why the problem.
She ready for you to man up, and you don't

(37:38):
want to do that. Stop playing games with her. That's
what the issue is. Mahomes or Jackson Fox Sports ready
to talking about it.
