Speaker 4 (00:52):
Don't forget coming up.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
What's coming up in about twenty eight minutes. Get his
name right, Calvin Watkins, I'll get it right. Coho covers
the Cowboys for the Dallas Morning News.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Calvin Watkins, ow man, I.

Speaker 5 (01:08):
Don't blame you that. I ain't a lie.

Speaker 6 (01:09):
That would be if I'm doing it like if I
had to do like Ron.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
Parsons. Ron Parsons might have said Rod Parker. Ron Parsons
is so.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Calvin is coming up in about twenty eight minutes. We'll
talk all things Cowboys, catch up on him. Also, don't
forget last call in case you can't get in or
you haven't been able to get in thus far, you'll
have an opportunity to do so. Update you real quickly
on the ball games. Ten to seven, Jets over the
Bills in Joysey, going there. In the Bronx it's three

(01:43):
nothing and the Yankees uh brewing again three nothing in
the fourth ending bottom of the fourth in the Bronx.

Speaker 6 (01:51):
Man, we got to talk about something that I think
one of the rare times that you and I are
going to actually agree on something, and that is it
is time to move on from Deshaun Waxon. That's what
I'm calling for him. Whack whack, not Watson. That boy
is whack and it's little unbelievable where it is.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
And I've said it before.

Speaker 6 (02:12):
I don't know if it's the Tiger Woods effect that
he's now been seen.

Speaker 5 (02:16):
The veil is lifted.

Speaker 6 (02:18):
It's fun to us undressed figuratively and literally his private
life and personal issues if he can't get past that.
But he's been terrible, and you know it's just bad
when you start to look at these stats and he's
pretty much last and everything.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
And so here's a big stat that we saw and
they corrected it because they said it on the game.

Speaker 5 (02:38):
Right, I said, I think it was old twenty six, right.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
But it's one for twenty seven on third down. That's
not even possible in the NFL?

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Are you kidding?

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Even the Raiders can make a couple of third downs. Sorry, Robert,
And what's it? I know?

Speaker 5 (02:51):
Right?

Speaker 6 (02:51):
And that is bad? But what's scary about twenty seven?
What's scary about that? Robins? Because what made him spectacular
was Lamar jackson ish type play, right, and he was
the superman in Houston. He was running all over the place.
He was making plays you never thought you'd see. It
was incredible to see what he was able to do.
And Houston now he can't do anything. His offense is

(03:13):
stagged and he can't score. They can't produce anything, they
can't convert first downs. The team doesn't believe in him.
He's walking in the locker room a game or two
a go before the game's over, it's just time to move,
and his head coach is already saying, well, he gives
us our best team the best chance to win. I
don't agree with that, and I bet you if you
took a poll in that locker room, they wouldn't agree

(03:35):
with that. I guarantee you Jamis Winston gives them a
better chance to win. Now, I'm not saying Jamis Winston
is a top ten quarterback, but Jameis Winston can move
that ball without a doubt.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
He's done that his whole career whenever he has played.

Speaker 6 (03:49):
So to me, Jameis Winston actually gives them a better
opportunity to win, which shows me this is coming down
from the top. This is saying, hey, we didn't spend
all the money on him. One of two things. We
eating need him to play and improve so we can
have a trade asset, or we just eating the place
so we can say, Dagan, we're gonna get our money's
worth one or the other. Because no head coach can

(04:11):
look at him now at this point and say he
gives us our best.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
Chance to win.

Speaker 6 (04:14):
Especially would you have a Jamis Winston sitting back if
you had Zach Wilson in the back. All right, cool,
I can understand that Jamis can win you some games.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
That's that's definitely a company line.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
That's coming from the save to save the manager and
owner's face.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
But here's what I just and we've talked about this before.
It ain't about being right, it's about getting it right.
And it's not fair to all the other players. Like
this is as bad as it gets. It's mind boggling.
And we get it. He gave him a fully guaranteed contract.
You don't feel like you can just pull the plug

(04:50):
on him.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
I don't know why, because the goal is about winning
and and he doesn't give you the best chance.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
He does it. There's no no way you can.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Really look at that because this is prolonged.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Now. This isn't like a couple of games or you know,
like a half a season or anything. This is like
real time. He's had a couple of training camps. Now
it just doesn't look like he didn't look like the
same player at all.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
And when you look at what Kevin Stefanski's answer when
I asked after the game, someone asked, you know, is
this co owner Jimmy Haslam is he forcing him to
stick with Watson? And Stefanski said, I don't get caught
up in narratives, but we have a good dialogue with myself,
general manager Andrew Berry, ownership about all things that have
to do with the team, and they've been nothing but
supportive and decision when it comes to football, my decision

(05:41):
that means, hey, look, I know, I know he is
Deshaun Waxen right now, and I know that we're wasting
this amazing defense that kept us in the game the
whole game and we still had a shot to win
this thing. And I know he's been largely part of
the reason why we're not good. But do it's a
favor keep him in there. Maybe he'll get it right.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
They're trying to save face. They're trying to save the money.
Make sure that you know how you have just milk.

Speaker 6 (06:03):
You ever had a bad meal, then you gotta eat
it all because you say to yourself, well, how much
did I pay for this? This steak was forty five dollars.
I'm getting my money's worth, right, you know what I mean.
It's like, it's not what I want it, but I'm
gonna get my money's worth. And that's what they're doing.
He ain't quarterbacking like he did with the Houston Texans.
He doesn't look anything like you thought he would when
you would give him the highest contract ever guaranteed. But dagd,

(06:25):
I'm gonna get my money's worth, or are you gonna
go out there and show somebody something so that I
have at least a trade asset I can get a
second or third round, fourth round pick for you.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
That's what's going on right now.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
And to your point, it's a shame because they're wasting
Miles Garrett, they're wasting a good defense.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
This is this other play was dud? What about them?
They don't count?

Speaker 6 (06:42):
And Baker Mayfield and Joe Flacco are walking around right
now like we made the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
Baker looks like a solid quarterback.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
Made the playoffs with you, then looks like he might
make the playoffs now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Joe
Flacco's coming in looking good with the Colts and look
good with the Browns. You can't tell me he gives
you the best option to win unless Jameis Winston is
eating too many crab legs and its overweight or something.
I don't buy it. Damus went thro five thousand yards

(07:12):
in this league a few years back.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
No, I know that was the year, but he just
had that year was he had the thirty interceptions.

Speaker 6 (07:18):
Yes, yeah, I try to stay focused on the five
thousand yards. But I got somebody back there who can
sling that rock. I just don't understand it. I just think,
what is it about saving faith? It didn't work out.
It happens you tried to do something. Pride is a
mum before it comes, before the fall. And they're falling
right now.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Right and the Browns are horrend I just cannot get
over how bad. And sometimes you gotta pour ketchup on
the contract and just eat it and just to say,
you know what, we try to do something. They did
it in Denver. They took a big hit and they
said they didn't want Russell Wilson anymore, right, Sean Payton
didn't want any part of him. They took an enormous

(07:58):
dead cap hit to get rid of Sean for Russell
will Russell Wilson because Sean.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
Pay They wanted to do it, and they just wanted
to start over and get a bowl next and get
a young guy. Whether you regrieve with it or not,
that's what they wanted to do.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
And they and they did it, and they did it.
You can do it if you really want to. When
you just decide. No one's picking up to Sean Watson.
No one has seen anything over the last here and
a half to make them decide.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Oh yeah, it's just like he's in the wrong place. No,
he just hasn't played.

Speaker 6 (08:25):
He's gotta he is officially at that place and everybody's
been there in life. He's got to earn it again.
He's got to earn it again. He's got to have
a seat, get your personal life straight, reassess, get back.
As you heard Patrick Mahomes, who's had it a may
he could stop right now and be on first ballot
Hall of Famer, said, I gotta keep working on the fundamentals.

(08:45):
So does Deshaun figure something out and maybe get a
second start. Maybe he gets his baker on, you know
what I mean? Maybe he gets his uh, what's your
boy out there in Seattle? Gino Smith?

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Though now he went from Gino's Pizza to Gino's.

Speaker 6 (09:00):
Right in which I would I wouldn't mind some Geno
pizza right about now. But so maybe that's what you
need to go. Sit down, reassess life, reassess your talent,
prioritize maybe your mental health because again self inflicted. But
he's been through a lot and come back fresh somewhere
else because I just it's just not working out. And
I'm starting to get the feeld like man, and maybe
the team is over it too, and you can't ask him.

(09:23):
Oh no, you give us the best chance to win
when the team isn't buying it, when they're not there anymore,
they're not competing, And like I said, now you out
there looking like from Deshaun Watson MVP candidate to Deshaun Waxon,
and it's just, you know, it's not it's just not
working out when you've had a sandwich in between them.
It worked out. But Baker, Baker made it the postseason.
You ain't make it. Joe Flecko comes, he made it.

(09:46):
But there were a lot of.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
People who thought that the Browns had made a mistake
just from you know, where he was and what had happened,
and they thought that they outsmarted everybody, that they we're
gonna go and get to guy the bad boy, and
that they were going to do it, and all they
needed was a quarterback because they have a tremendous defense
at that time, they had a good running game, Nick
Chubb and all that, right, so they were like, great,

(10:09):
Kareem Hunt was there, right? They Yeah, had much going on, right,
So they were like, all we need is a quarterback,
and this guy was a top level quarterback, and all
we gotta do is get him at water stir and
we got a chance to maybe finally get that elusive
championshiplusive happened.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
That championship is looking like Barry Sanders right now. They
cannot grab that at all. A touchdown by the way,
Buffalo Bills. Are you looking a little upset about that?

Speaker 1 (10:32):
No?

Speaker 4 (10:32):
No, no, I was looking at this thirteen ten.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
I don't use those days are long going, man, I've
been a reporter for almost forty years.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
Yeah, well I'm talking about it used to city and
this this what I was earlier.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
It's thirteen thirteen. What is it? Fourteen to ten?

Speaker 5 (10:47):
Yeah, making sure shele City.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
I wasn't thinking about your allegiance, Okay, yeah, you only
have allegians to a couple of things.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
No chicken Wings, although one of them is playing right now.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Oh, I'm sorry, you.

Speaker 6 (10:58):
Know, I've started to think that last one. It's a
little Oh they missed the extra point that could be huge.
I feel like it's more mythological.

Speaker 5 (11:06):
Why just what I'm saying. I just feel like.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
I like to go once in a while. I don't
go back what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
I don't think you're making it like you are a
magic city.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
No, no, no, I go when especially when I'm in Atlanta.
I don't go out here. I've never been to one here,
do you. I don't go to strip club every weekend
or anything.

Speaker 6 (11:22):
Just making sure because you're making it like that's your moniker.
Although it is a magic city Monday.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Thank you. And I know little Magic.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
So when I go there, they take care of me,
but they know me at the at the kitchen there
the best food.

Speaker 5 (11:34):
Have you been there? I tried it when I was
young man. Couldn't get in, couldn't get in.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
All right, next time you're in Atlanta, I talked, a
little magic will take care.

Speaker 7 (11:43):
No.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
I like a happy home. Okay, Just you can send
me some you sound like christ. You can't go in
there with are you melt?

Speaker 5 (11:51):
Send me some limon pepper wings from going to Magic City?

Speaker 4 (11:55):
If we were in Atlanta, couldn't you just to just
hang out? I mean, if I wanted you, I could. Yeah, Mary,
you want to go, I'm gonna take Mary the magic.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
You're actually going to I think in Atlanta in a
couple of weeks.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
So are you Yeah, I'm excited. Yeah, you're gonna go, right,
I mean you can get me in?

Speaker 5 (12:09):
Yeah, I go, I'm going like cousins.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
I'll get you in. How many people? I don't know,
it's just mean it's just me and then probably like
two of my girls. I just want to make sure
a little girls trip. You know, I don't want to
commit and then you go like it's two people.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
No, when you try to look out for somebody and
then they take advantage.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
Of it, right, That's what I'm saying. I need to
before I commit and say oh yeah, I'll get you
in or whatever.

Speaker 5 (12:34):
But yeah, I didn't know that it's in regardless because
we're girls.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
So you know, no, no, no, that's not how it
works because it can alight.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
Fox all right?

Speaker 1 (12:45):
And uh, it's really why haven't the Browns moved on
from the Shawn watch? Like, like what can you figure
it out? Because we can't figure it out? Why do
you think do they? Is there any hope?

Speaker 4 (12:57):
Is there?

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Like they think after week eleven he's going to turn
it around or not turn into a pumpkin what possibly
is the reason you think that they're still holding on
and having moved on.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Let's continue that conversation with you.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Next, it is The Odd Couple on a Magic City Monday,
Rob Parker, kelvin Washington, right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (13:16):
Stick and stay unless you don't tube at Magic City

Speaker 6 (13:33):

Speaker 4 (14:07):
Don't forget, Don't forget the Kelvin Washington. I knew. Why
am I doing this today? I'm just like Ron Parsons.

Speaker 8 (14:18):
Calvin Watkins from the Dallas Morning News. You know the
worst part about it we're doing tomorrow. You're gonna start
calling me Calvin Watkins.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
I know.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
But we did this before when Kerrie Rhodes was filling in, right,
and uh, who do we have?

Speaker 4 (14:32):
Kerry Kittles was the game.

Speaker 5 (14:33):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
So I was like I called each of them the
wrong name or whatever.

Speaker 6 (14:37):
It was all all right, Spectrum, we called that, yo, man,
I don't do names. It's a long story behind it.
But when you start messing up names, we have a
little line saying I don't do names. And that's how
you're acting right now, like you don't do names.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
I know.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
But Calvin Watkins, who covers the Cowboys for the Dallas
Morning News, he'll be joining us sooner than later. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox, just talking about the bizarre
Cleveland Brown Central Wait with Deshan Watson and just what.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
What are they doing?

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Like like we don't know what they're doing and they
continue to do the same thing over and over.

Speaker 6 (15:10):
Let's go know what the definition of insanity is? Yes,
we do the same thing. We're expecting a different result.
Mike and Augusta. You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
What's up, Mike, Mike, Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 6 (15:29):
So to your point, Man, I'm holding on to Deshaun
Watson because they paid.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Them so much money. And also, what's to say.

Speaker 9 (15:39):
That the Cowboys the only mad team that that he
talks about. That's not true. The Browns and the Raiders
and the Jets getting just as much run as the
Cowboys talking.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
About talk about those other teams exactly, Boys, the Cowboys
and especially they haven't even been in the NFC championship
game in thirty years and they get way more.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
And I at the top of every Chuck.

Speaker 6 (16:03):
Show, it's actually it actually, it's distasteful. It's disrespected to
respectful to the other teams and another team that there's
different sport. But the Knicks, like, yo, okay, this last
year they were good, but historically they haven't been that great.
In the Knicks alls, I'm like, why we got to
Why do I gotta deal with the Knicks?

Speaker 5 (16:21):
They're not that great. So it's a few teams and supports.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
You said about the Lions for Thanksgiving?

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Yeah, yeah, I know. That is true.

Speaker 6 (16:28):
Oh now I'm just what we call it, Mary America's
new favorite team.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
I used to get people were like enough with the
Lions on Thanksgiving. I just say, dude, the owner of
the Lions back then is the one who came up
with the Thanksgiving Day game.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
So I didn't.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
And the Ford Motor Company has been a long time
sponsored the NFL.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
They weren't and we were around. They were never going
to take that a game away from Detroit. And that's
like holiday.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
There eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.

Speaker 5 (17:01):
Yeah, they gotta do something something.

Speaker 6 (17:05):
But let me ask you, are you Bernie Colezar? Is
he still around something?

Speaker 4 (17:10):
But what are you? What's the right word? Are you simpath?

Speaker 6 (17:15):
No?

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Are you sympathetic to him? To showan Watson? Are you
you know, like, do you feel bad for him that
that this situation whether whether I'm not, No one's gonna
say we're agreeing with it what went down, But still
people have issues in life. How are you.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Just get what I get the question?

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Do you know what I'm saying?

Speaker 1 (17:35):
Like?

Speaker 5 (17:36):
I think you hate to see you see.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Right?

Speaker 6 (17:40):
I think we all hate to see the downfall of
a human. Here, here's where I'll say, but sometimes it's okay, right,
you gotta kind of tuck your tail, pick it up,
say this ain't working for me, and gain you go
bounce back.

Speaker 5 (17:52):
Right.

Speaker 6 (17:52):
So I'm gonna I'm gonna put all of the devious
activity to the side, and I'm gonna say this just
isn't working. And if you're them, meaning the ownership, you
move on and maybe it works elsewhere, right, Maybe he
goes somewhere else, Maybe you find the quarterback for the
Browns future. And he goes somewhere and he sits behind something,
you know, and this is not apples apples.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
But Mike Vick comes to mind.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
Man, Do y'all remember we were way more furious about
Mike Vick. Deshaun Watson was accused of sexual assault and
all these other things. And there was some outrace no
way near with Mike Vick for what he did to animals,
and Mike Vick went away for a couple of years.

Speaker 5 (18:33):
Mike Vick did his time.

Speaker 6 (18:36):
Donovan McNabb looked out for him, got him an opportunity
to come back second third string for the Eagles. Injury
after injury happens to the Eagles quarterbacks. Next thing you know,
Mike Vick's in there. And then he went ahead and
got the back. Couldn't he show contrition? He worked out,
got in good graces, and Andy Reid at Mike Vicking
looked like the best version of Mike Vick we'd ever seen.

(18:57):
So maybe that's the route you take. You might have
to go be a backup somewhere. You might have to
go get some spiritual internal, you know, journey and continue
to grow as a man as we all should and
all do, and then you bounce back elsewhere. I don't
think Deshaun Watson's story has to be written to be over.
Maybe comes back it as a shining, incredible human being
and also a great player, but it's got it.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
I just think it has to be elsewhere.

Speaker 6 (19:19):
Maybe the the stink in the karma of them giving
him that all that money in the middle of the
other allegations. It wasn't like five years later in the midst.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
Of right, and maybe there was some karma around. There's
the karma.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
I agree with that, Like that was the part because
I believe they thought they were.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
Pulling the fast one like he was. Well, let's go
get this start right.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
If no one's gonna no one's gonna take him because
of what's going on, we'll just ignore everything that went on.
We'll pay him whatever, and then we'll have this quarterback
and we got him.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
Because it's gonna have to be suspended too. That's the
only crazy ones like he got to come right in
you to see what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
That's really what they were thinking, Like we pulled the
fast one on the league. No one wants to touch
this guy because he's I stink on him and we
wind up getting him.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
And now look we're gonna win.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Y'all thinking you got Deshaun Watson, not Deshaun Watson man.
So yeah, well we'll see how this all. They're gonna
keep playing him, either to fine he hopefully gets some
good games out of him and trade him, or they're
gonna keep playing him just to say, I told you
this steak was not it was fifty dollars steak, seventy
five dollars stak. I'm gonna get my money's worth, Kelvin,
guess what what's just say it?

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Calvin Watkins is coming up next from the Dallas Morning.

Speaker 6 (20:26):
Ronald Flos know that But first, what is trending with
Steve the Seger.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
Coming to you a line from the tire rack dot
Com studios. Our guests. Now, I'm not gonna say his
name because I want to see if you can say it.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
Go Calvin Watkins, there you go on? Are you kidding me?
That's my man right there?

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (20:51):
I know, but I told you I'll cut you some sleck.
Calvin Watkins joins is Calvin. My name is Kelvin Washington.
So all day Rob's name. He's been calling me you
and you me. It's just been all bad. You know,
I'm used to I'm used to your name. Everybody called me.
My own family calls me Calvin, Calvin, they do. My

(21:14):
mother named me after my father, yet calls me Calvin.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
Come out down to Calvin, like mom, you name me Kelvin?
What are we doing here?

Speaker 6 (21:24):
We appreciate you joining gainst man Calvin Walkins on Twitter,
uh or X.

Speaker 5 (21:29):
We'll get straight to it.

Speaker 6 (21:31):
Robin actually disrespect the Lions getting that winner with the Cowboys.
But the Cowboys are a mess right now? Oh god,
the Cowboys are terrible, Calvin. Come on, they did what
everybody else is doing.

Speaker 8 (21:44):
The cat like nobody else the general hospital of the NFL.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Everybody goes down there and beats them like a drum.
What did the liars do that was any different than
the last four blowouts at home?

Speaker 5 (21:56):
Watch them tell you.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
I chucked it out. It's like boxing, right, you're the
baddest man on the planet, right, and you know you
don't pick who. It's a mandatory challenger, right, So you
get in the ring and you kick the guys behind
and now you're moving. It's not your fault that they're
not where they're supposed to be. That's just who they
scheduled for your fight. And in this case, that's that's

(22:21):
who the Lions were scheduled to play, the Cowboys, and
the Lions if they had messed around and won like
a game that was twenty eight to twenty seven, Rob,
you be killing them again.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
It's like you know them, Calvin, It's like you know them,
like you.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Give him credit for that. Bro. You gotta get dude.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
Everybody everybody's beating the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Let's get to the Cowboys. Okay, I don't want to
make this a line show.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
I'm all right.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Dak Prescott sixty million dollars, he really looks great.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Tell me about that.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
He's not worth He's not playing like a sixty million
dollar quarterback. I made some bad throws in that game.
Interception that was the birth that was bad. Yeah, he
is not. He's just been an average quarterback. To be
honest with you, I don't know if he's feeling the
pressure of the contract, but I do think he's pressing
a little bit just to make things happen. He doesn't
have a running game. That that hurts any quarterback. I

(23:14):
don't care who you are. You know, they got to
buy week, so then they got to hurt San Francisco.
So it's not getting better for them right now.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
Let me ask you this again.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
Calvin Walkins joining us, he comes the Cowboys for the
Dallas Morning News. If I gave you a magic wand
and I said to fix the Cowboys problems, you get
one thing.

Speaker 5 (23:33):
What is it? What would be the one thing?

Speaker 2 (23:35):
You?

Speaker 9 (23:35):
Is it?

Speaker 5 (23:36):
Just injuries?

Speaker 6 (23:36):
If they get Micah back and Lawrence there, they'll be okay,
he would swap teams with the raven.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
I would say, you know they had they didn't have
seven defensive players in that game, the Cowboys defensively and
so if you get to people back, yeah you got
you can play a lot better to not run in
the ball. I mean, they screwed up the whole running
back situation the whole off season, and it's as you
can see, it's killing them right now. The offensive line,

(24:09):
they they're just in shambles. Robin is right, they're a
bad football team. And I get what Rob is saying
in some ways, but Cawboys, I don't know if you
can fix this team. One of the beat writers called
me today and said they don't win five games. I said,
then win two more games the rest of the way,
Carolina and who else?

Speaker 4 (24:25):
Right there you go.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
They got the job schedule.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Right, the Carolina is on the schedule. Then they got
to play the Washington two more time. They got to
play Washington twise, Philly twice. You know they're gonna beat Houston,
and you know they're not going to be San Francisco.
They got Atlanta in Atlanta, So I don't know, you know,
but they need to get their people back who are hurt,
like Michael Parsons and Deron Bland. They got to straighten

(24:50):
out the offensive line. They got to figure out what
to do with the running game. They got all kinds
of issues there. I don't know if you could fix it.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
So is let me add Michael Parsons. Is he still
Lawrence Taylor? Have we gotten off of that?

Speaker 2 (25:03):
I think he got off that.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
I mean, my god, I told you I wanted to
rename his podcast to turn off his Micah.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
But thanks.

Speaker 5 (25:15):
Encourage him, thank you, that.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Is thank you.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
But but what's happened to him? The defense was at
one point they won sixteen straight games at home.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
What's happened to the defense?

Speaker 2 (25:29):
You know, the biggest problem is the defense is not
creating turnovers. When Dan Quinn was the defensive coordinator, that's
what he said, we have to do is get turnover.
Clint's defense, you know, he had smaller guys on the field,
but these smaller guys move faster then the days the
scheme with Mike Zimmer, who's the new defensive coordinator, he
wants bigger guys to control the line of scrimmage and

(25:51):
then everyone you know, plays their little zone areas that's
how he plays little blit from exotic areas. It's not working.
He doesn't have big boys up front. In that Lions game,
the game plan for the defense was we're gonna play
two Satans deep, you know, take that away from Jared
Golf and out some seven is going to control. A
line of skimmage didn't happen. So, like I said, some

(26:15):
of its personnel, they're just they're just in a world
of hurt right now. And like I said, I don't
know if they can't fix it.

Speaker 6 (26:22):
Let me ask you this, Calvin Watkinkins Watkins again with
us covered the Cowboys the Dallas Morning.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
Now you did it.

Speaker 6 (26:27):
I had a couple of KICKI kickkns. Calvin, let me
ask you this. Mike McCarthy's safe. I mean, you had
Jerry Jones come.

Speaker 4 (26:33):
On after a contract next you.

Speaker 6 (26:35):
I know, but if folks ask, you know, hey, where
are we and he said, he being Jerry Jones said
he's still our guy. He's still our guy right now.
I'm not going to answer that at this time. So
he's safe. I mean, if you're his lawyer, his agent,
you say, hey, man, my guy went twelve and five.
Three couples for a few seasons. You know what's really
what's wrong with that? What would you say?

Speaker 2 (26:54):
If I'm his agent, I would say, hey, d renting
Dallas from that vine, That's what I would say. Look,
he's not going to make a move. Jerry's only done
it one time, and that was when he got rid
of Wave for Jason Garrett. And at that time, the
Cowboys were a mess. They got blown out at Green
Bay on the road and they came back home and

(27:17):
he had an heir apparent that was Jason Garrett. That's
why he made that move. So you look at it
now and you say, well, and I tell people all
the time, we's firing a coach, and I go, well,
who do you want to play him with? You don't
want to replace with Mike Zimmer because Mike Zimmer is
sixty plus years old and he don't want to be
a head coach anymore. And there's nobody else on that staff,
maybe Al Harris who wants to be a head coach

(27:37):
one day. I don't know if Jerry trust's him enough,
you know. So. Brian Schottenheimer, he used to be a
presial coordinator with the Jets, a couple of other teams,
I don't know if you want to give it to him,
So you really don't have anybody that's that you want
to say, let's give it to you. However, next week
through at San Francisco and the following week thout Atlanta,
if you lose those two games, now you have a

(27:57):
good three game losing streak and you got a Philly
at home, right, maybe then you say, well, if you
get blown out on the road, maybe we got to
make a move because this thing is not working. And
you're right, rob uh. You know, McCarthy's in the last
year of his zeal right, and Jerry does not like
paying people. It's not like paying people who are not
working for me, right, So it's it's easy to get

(28:20):
rid of them because all you do is catching, you know,
giving them finally and checked until the end of December whenever.
But I don't think it's going to happen right now,
But the next two games, as I said, at Friscope
at Atlanta will find out where they are.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
All right.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
Well, last thing, if CD Lamb makes another face at
dot Dak on the sidelines during the game, what is
that all about?

Speaker 4 (28:44):
I mean, my guy, what is going on between those.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Two uh, Jerry Golson's is the culprit there. Here's why
you could have paid. You could have got CD Lamb
fined in the summer sin Jefferson got his deal and
Jerry dismissed the fact that you need to be working
in practice and training camp and all those kinds of
things to develop chemistry. So when the season starts, you

(29:09):
in good shape. Instead, cde Lamb shows up basically about
a week and a half, two weeks before the start
of the season, and now he's thinking, you know, you
got je Pearson and Rogers starback. It doesn't work that way.
And so now you're seeing the lack of practice reps
in the offseason to CD then show up for the
OTAs and the mini camps and all that. He is
shown for basically three and a half weeks of training camp.

(29:29):
So the chemistry is off, and I think CD is
very frustrated. I wouldn't say CD is a diva per se,
because I didn't think that was him, but I but
I did agree with you guys. He has been He's
been a mouthy, a little bit on the shotlights more
than usual. I think he's frustrated. He's he's pressing because
he got a big contract. Dak gets pressing because he

(29:49):
got a big contract and nothing is working right now.

Speaker 6 (29:52):
One of these signs, Dak go haul off and punch him.
You know he's going to happen at some point. Hey, Calvin, man,
we appreciate you joining us.

Speaker 5 (29:58):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
I then, my man, thank you, buddy.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Shake you guys, Yeah, take care, all right, all right?

Speaker 5 (30:04):
Eight seven seven and ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 6 (30:05):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, Your chance to
get in last call. If you had been trying to
call in throughout the day, couldn't get in, this is
your chance again. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
This is your chance for last call. Plus Rob has
some words for Bill Belichick. You'll hear those. It is
The Odd Couple, Rob Parker, kelvin Washington, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (30:34):
Fox Sports Radio. One more time for your boys. It
is the idd Couple.

Speaker 6 (30:38):
Rod Parker, kelvin Washington, coming to your live from the
Tireck dot Com studios. Tired of filling the loan in
your job search, with just one connection you can find
endless job opportunities, and that connection is Express Employment. Professionals
don't go out of the loan. Visit expresspros dot com
to find the location near shoe. That is expresspros dot Com.

(30:58):
And now, folks, it is time for the Express Pros
of Pro of the Week, and the Pro the Week
goes to Bears rookie quarterback Kayn Williams.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
We didn't talk about him enough.

Speaker 6 (31:06):
He has accounted for two hundred and eighty two toty
yards and threw four touchdowns in Chicago's win over the
Jags in London. So again, Congress Kaylyn Williams for being
our Express Pro Pro of the week. Well, he was
our last topic we're going to do. I wound up
talking about him. Definitely, he's played well.

Speaker 7 (31:22):
But first last cold times, it's last call, last call
time on the odd couple that Troit.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
And then Ron is our last call here on the
odd couple on this Magic City Monday.

Speaker 4 (31:41):
What's up Ron?

Speaker 5 (31:42):
What you got Ron?

Speaker 9 (31:44):
Well, he got Ron and it is really supposed to
be burned from Detroit.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
Burn. We got you burn from Detroit.

Speaker 5 (31:52):
What's I'll let that man he's Ron for the rest
of the night. What's up, Ron, how's it going?

Speaker 8 (31:56):
Ron?

Speaker 5 (31:56):
Thanks for calling the odd couple.

Speaker 9 (31:58):
So first off, I want to kind of apologize with
Rob Parker. He is a pretty decent human being, but
the moment from Tom Brady hate comes out of his mouth,
he will be back on the list I originally put
him on. So my last call would be that this
last win for my Detroit Lions is bittersweet. I am

(32:20):
a Michigan homer. I root hard for anybody from Michigan.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
My last call is I'm kind.

Speaker 9 (32:25):
Of hurt about my man. At as much as I
love the public dismantling of the biggest thief in Dallas
aka Dakota Prescott, when I saw the picture of that
man's ankle flapping in the wind like a city woman
on a strong windy day, I was legit hurt. The

(32:46):
only thing that made it better is to see the
owner of Candy Land aka Jerry Jones, sitting up there
looking upset on his ninety second birthday.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
My last call is.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
His age.

Speaker 9 (33:01):
I know ninety two thirty two. He probably own one
of my ancestors. Their zones Kick Rocks and Aighton Hutchison
get will soon love y'all show. Oh and I'm sorry,
I want to put in a bid for TV theme
song Thursday. Yes, perfect Strangers theme song is one of

(33:21):
the most underrated and slept on themes.

Speaker 5 (33:24):
Wait started, start, Remind me how it goes against started.

Speaker 9 (33:28):
Sometimes the world looks perfect. Nothing can rearrange. Sometimes you
just get a feeling like you need some kind of change.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
Right, Yeah, thank you, Wait a minute, we gotta hear
you sing.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
All days were good? Thank you.

Speaker 5 (33:46):
I appreciate the call, man, thank you. Yeah, he's right, man. Hey,
that Aiden Hutchins was That was bro.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
And let's talk about Caleb Williams and what he continues.

Speaker 6 (33:55):
To Johnson right now, showing his highlights and saying that
boy got a cannon. He's playing great and I want
to just go back and I get it. But if
you remember, Bill Belichick was very adamant critical of him
and basically.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
Said, well, he wasn't really accurate ten for twenty and
had a couple of highlighted play but they weren't that good.
And all I'm saying is you gotta be careful for
paying people into a box like that. Early on in
his career and people kept saying, well, all of his
plays at USC were broken plays, and he can't like
he played major college football, he won the Heisman, and

(34:32):
they're telling us that the only plays he made were
broken place.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
Come on, man, what did Caleb do to you?

Speaker 5 (34:38):
You know, it's funny.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
What do you do to you?

Speaker 6 (34:40):
Well people say stuff like that to me. That only
makes me go, well, you know, what, what is he
gonna do when he actually has time?

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Right?

Speaker 5 (34:46):
But he actually has a system and we and.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
What was the story that was in the Athletic rob
g where they said basically that it was the offensive
coordinator and the offensive line that let him down.

Speaker 6 (34:58):
Right, yeah, the head coaching off yet right, yeah, listen,
Kayler Williams ain't nothing.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
We ain't got to work about that crowd.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
And then we're not saying he's gonna be the MVP
or anything, but the way that people were coming down
on a rookie quarterback just getting started.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
And we've talked about this a million times.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Most guys look really bad in their first games when
they start, and it takes a little adjustment.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
He looks grave right now.

Speaker 6 (35:20):
Sally, for me, considering where he landed right. He landed
with the Chicago Bears, who always grew over the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
They haven't had him a franchise quarterback since Sid Luckman
in the forties and fifties.

Speaker 5 (35:32):
I don't even know who that is. That's how long.

Speaker 4 (35:33):
That's how long?

Speaker 6 (35:34):
Say Luckman is he alive? Because I was gonna say
around the grave right now we're talking about the Bears,
and so they absolutely, they always mess up the quarterback situation.
That man is extraordinarily talented, the reason why everybody said
he's the biggest prospect since Andrew luck And if you
give him time, he can absolutely shine and do it
and do his thing.

Speaker 5 (35:53):
And I think he's only going to get better.

Speaker 6 (35:54):
And I'm actually, as a Lions fan, I'm a little
worried because we got deal with him for the next
ten fifteen years.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
And I also want to say this, we just saw
Aaron Rodgers throw up a hell.

Speaker 4 (36:06):
Man hail Mary touchdown. We've seen him do this a lot.

Speaker 5 (36:11):
If he can't do nothing else in life, can do
that throw a hail Mary. And it was a touchdown.

Speaker 8 (36:15):
So the Jets closed the gap to what is it
seven twenty seventeen or down three twenty seventeen and here
it is, Rob g are you recording this?

Speaker 1 (36:25):
It's the play that will turn the Jets season around.
You just witnessed it. There's no way, nohow. They should
have been down twenty ten. They can change everything. They
can win in the second half. When you know, win
the game in the second half, you'll remember that touchdown
and it'll be that Aaron Rodgers through that hail Mary
that changed the New York Jets fortunes. Remember I told

(36:48):
you this ahead of time. Remember I told you that
the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers wouldn't make the
playoffs before the season. Remember I just told you about
this Aaron Rodgers hail Mary that will turn the Jets
season around.

Speaker 6 (37:05):
I was what happens if you're wrong? Do we just
forget about everything you just said delete the tape? No, Elijah,
go ahead and scrub that. No, we're waiting for that
moment to happen.

Speaker 5 (37:15):
Rob Jas, You're right, we're gonna play the tape. If
you're wrong, we're gonna play the tape.

Speaker 6 (37:19):
You're good well, because I'm just saying that with all
the Sheco city that's going on right now, Society old stuff,
joh Aaron Rodgers. That was huge because your start, if
you're the team, we're down ten the bill as you're
thinking it's over.

Speaker 5 (37:34):
That gave him life. We'll see how.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
Trash Talking Tuesday tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (37:37):
We're looking forward to it already. Trash talk you all show, whatever,
