Speaker 2 (00:19):
You're listening to the best of the Odd Couple with
Chris Bruce and Ron Parker.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Jets lost last night. They did twenty three to twenty.
It was a good game. Aaron Rodgers looked good. He
did almost had three hundred yards, the receiver, wrong route,
fell down, whatever, and an interception at the end. They
had a good shot to win that game. But they
played way better. We could admit that.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
And then they went out today and you know what, Kelvin,
they did the right thing.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
You go all in. You got a forty year old quarterback.
There's no five year plan. You're not trying to wait
till next year or down the road, or Aaron Rodgers
might not even play next year.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
You're not out of it. The season is still there.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
It would have been great had they won, they would
have been tied for first right at three and three. Instead,
they're two and four, a lot of games left to play,
and they feel like, why not, let's go for it.
I applaud the Jets and ownership to just say, we've
already hitched ourselves to a forty year old quarterback. We
got to give him everything anything he needs. And for

(01:27):
Devonte Adams, I don't blame him. You know he went
there for Derek carrs because college quarterback that blew up
in his face. When they jettison Derek Carr out of
Las Vegas, they don't know who they're gonna run a quarterback.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Now, they got a couple guys and they.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Tom Brady right quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
I mean, like, so, so there's no quarterback there in
Las Vegas, so why would he want to stay there?
This all makes total sense. And he had so much
success with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. Do I mean
that this is gonna this puts them over the top. No,
there's no magical elixa for this team with his franchise.
But Kelvin, you add a talent like that, you can't

(02:08):
tell me it's not gonna make the other pieces parts
even better.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
I think it makes them a wee bit better. I
think it makes them a little bit better. I don't
think all of a sudden puts them over the top
end now they're better than the Bills, or they're better than.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
Some other teams in the AFC.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
I think it just adds a little bit of a familiarity,
which Aaron Rodgers seems to love. I mean, my goodness,
he is definitely you know how you want to go
into I'm gonna start clean. I wanna start fresh. I
want a new environment. I want to build onto something.
Aaron Rodgers said, give me the same thing, just in
a different location. Give me the same receivers I had.
Give me the same offensive coordinator I had. He wants

(02:44):
it all in the same place, just in the big apples.
So listen, they went all in and they've literally given
him the case to the Kingdom, which again I've never
had a problem with as much as saying, this is
what you're doing. I hope it works because now there's
really no built in excuses anymore. If Robert Salah was excuse,
he's gone. If you know, you wanted your own offensive coordinator.

(03:05):
And Nathaniel Hackett, obviously he was there for a couple
of years and now he is in a demoted position,
but he's there. You wanted this receiver, you got him.
You wanted that receiver, you got him. Now you want
Devonte Adams, you got him. So I think this there's
no more excuses for Aaron Rodgers, really for Devonte Adams too.
You're with now your second hand picked quarterback. So go

(03:26):
out there, ball, make it happen and get this offense
back going. Which is like in the lower twenties right now,
offense looks bad, looks stagnant.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Came alive a little bit.

Speaker 5 (03:35):
Last night, almost for three hundred yards last night.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yeah, but defense, they're still making something's off rob like
they're getting so many offensive penalties, the false starts, receivers
aren't in the right place. It's like something's off here,
and they're not built right now based off an identity
or coach like, this is who we are, this is
what we do, and they're trying to figure that out
on the fly while they keep also changing things. We're

(03:58):
trying figure out who we are, tying to figure out
who we are. New coach, trying to figure out who
we are, trying to figure new offensive person playing making calls,
a new interim coach, trying to figure out who we are,
trying to figure out who we are. Now we got
DeVonta Adams, so it just seems like they're like a
hamster in the wheel, just spinning, spinning, spins space.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Six teams that have the same thing that Dallas Cowboys
have the same stuff in place.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
I don't want to be like Dallas. I'm just saying
I'm trying to be like Kansas. They have this sam
stuf from.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Place, and it doesn't mean that you're going to win
because it's the same as what I'm saying. Sometimes you
need to make changes if things aren't working, and obviously
it wasn't working where there are.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Let me just give you numbers.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
The last four years together in Green Bay's eighteen to
twenty twenty one, Adams average one hundred and nineteen receptions,
roughly one thy four hundred and sixty three.

Speaker 5 (04:40):
Yards, and fourteen and a half touchdowns per season.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I mean, like when he left Green Bay, it was
like Green Bay, Las Vegas the Hall of Fame, and now.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
Are we going there? I'm not positive or it's not.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Ye, he's another year too, you know what I mean?
Like he was going there from with those numbers and.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Which is why I'm always a firm believer when we
have these conversations about you know, just outside of the quarterback,
these players, these positions that you want to me again,
That's why I want a TJ. Watt, That's why I
want a Miles Garrett. That's why I wanted Aiden Hutchinson
because those guys, no matter who's on the team, no
matter who's making the calls, they can produce.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
They can play hard. Uh.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Devanta Adams, he's a couple of years removed, like you said,
from from the great Davanta Adams. I think there's still
some in that tank. I still think he can be
very productive. With Aaron Rodgers, I just don't think that's
quite the issue. I don't think it was singularly just man,
if we had his Vanta Adams, we're good to go.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
I don't think they running. I gotta think they got
to keep running the ball more. They got to.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Keep protecting Aaron because Aaron is not mobile as he
used to be, and he is not the same guy
when under pressure, and so you got to make sure
you're protecting him. But they went all in, and I'm
not listening. You got what you wanted You've got what
you asked for. Now they have no choice but to
go out there and make it happening.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Ball.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah, I just think a talent like that and he's
available for a third round conditional, you got to make
that that that that's not like.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
A mortgage in the future, you know what I mean. Sorry,
Now they're like, we are winning now. If it ain't
this year because you said it, Aaron Rodgers might be
not might be there. Maybe you don't want to do
anything with data, ye layers. So you got to go
all in and give yourself a fair shot.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
This organization that at least has one super Bowl, there's
a lot of teams that never even want to want.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
To do that.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
No, no, no, because you do that all the time,
somebody at least a long time.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
At least a one to one. But I'm just saying
one more time. They still want a super Bowl. You
can say whatever you want. A lot of teams bowl that.
Was that an NFL championship? No, that's what the Lions
have about that. Like the Lions. And there's about a
handful of the teams that have either never even been
to the super Bowl or never never won one. All

(06:53):
I'm saying is for the Jets, nineteen sixty nine is
a long time and you're not waiting on anything. You're
going to do whatever you can add talent. That's all
they did is they've added talent to the team. I'm
gonna throw this at you, Aaron Rodgers. One thing that
I think we all know is like you and Robb G,
you and I are building this report. We're building equity.
You and rob G have it, you know, and Alex

(07:13):
and Elijah guys have been here. So like rob G
can probably say something to you, Hey Rob I didn't
like this, or don't do that, or hey man on Tuesday,
we're gonna do and you can be all right, you
know what, Yeah, I can bring it.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Oh No, my panties might be in a bunch if
he says you okay, you'd be sensitive thug like that,
like Jay Zves once said, sensitive thug. Do you all
need hugs right now?

Speaker 1 (07:31):
No. The reason I bring that up is one thing
that Aaron Rodgers is doing a lot of. He's doing
a lot of pointing fingers and calling people out. And
if you're Patrick Mahomes, I've built that equity within the Chiefs,
You're Tom Brady when you were with the Patriots, I've
built that equity. If you're you know, even Jared Goff
now in three seasons three four seat with the Lions.
Did you did you see when Tom Brady's with Tampa
Are you ignored that?

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Did you see?

Speaker 1 (07:53):
What?

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Did you see? His hand full of rings?

Speaker 1 (07:55):
No? No?

Speaker 4 (07:57):
What did you see? What I did?

Speaker 3 (07:58):
What did he do in Tampa Bay? When when wide
receivers call him out and he and he and he
bashed his iPad on the on the back and he.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Has earned remember to earn. That is where I was
going saying, is when you've played that long, you've had success.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Aaron Rodgers, whether he's there five minutes or five years, he's.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
Still more accomplished than anybody there.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
He's got four oldp you're gonna hang on to them V.
He's going on you r m VP.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Tom Brady doesn't even have four him, I know and
time Brad now, No. But my point is that everybody
don't win for MV. Listen, let me be very clear
about this. Aaron Rodgers, up until about five years ago
was my top two or three most talented football players
I've ever seen, just pure talent, not winning this at
the Super Bowl, just pure talent. I was an Aaron
Rodgers guy in the sense of man that he gets

(08:51):
it done. He's talented, but I need to see more
at a certain point, and especially now when it's always
something he's talking. I mean, I don't know who's on
my TV more Elijah, Is it Jones or Aaron Rodgers?
And I don't mean because they're playing, I mean interest,
this is my podcast, this saw this?

Speaker 5 (09:04):
Aaron Rodgers owns the TV networks to put them on?

Speaker 1 (09:07):
That? Is that?

Speaker 4 (09:08):
What happened? Does he own them? I'm sorry?

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Is he not a girl man who can decline? Okay,
so I'm just asking you decline any anything that costs
some five dollars. I think he can decline going on TV?
Is he Well, they were paying him a million dollars
to go, and you can say no.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
Sometimes I'm not maying, know to a million dollars to
come out to the league ten minutes.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
And my point is he's doing. He's talking all the
time doing. Is he calling players out? That has to
be exhausting, So he better start winning because that has
to be Like br I'm tired of hearing all that
and seeing all you everywhere, Turn on my TV, sit down,
come out here in ball with us, Come make it happen.
You don't like man, you don't like guys on podcasts
all the time. But over Aaron Rodgers can do Pat

(09:47):
McAfee six times a week.

Speaker 5 (09:49):
No, my point is he does. He does Pat McAfee
and he wasn't.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
Even doing it.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Raymon can't stop doing it, right, rob g he's not
even doing it. That was like, no, he was just
but he doesn't have a week.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
He's been on every week. I thought he stopped.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
He's on every week. He might have been a multi
taper last week. He's last three week.

Speaker 6 (10:06):
The only time that he missed last week was because
it was in the wake of the solid firing, so
they gave him an extra day before.

Speaker 5 (10:12):
I'm gonna say, I know I haven't seen I haven't
seen him one I.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
Have been put your glasses. He never missed Pat mcafeell.
That is part of it. I never missed Pat McAfee.
I never missed it, so I never I never seen
it miss more or should I say lest w well both, Okay,
it's gonna say.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Kelvin, let's go here, oh boy.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
And we've talked about I've talked about Jerry Jones for
a long time. He runs the Dallas Cowboys like a
mom and pop store. That's why they haven't been to
a league championship game in thirty years. And you know,
when Jimmy Johnson was there, they were a dynasty, and
I know they won three out of four and all
that stuff. I know Barry Switzeen won one of them,
but it was Jimmy's tamy. That was all Jimmy, right,

(11:07):
and that was it. That was the last time the
Cowboys were able to do anything. And that's when Jerry
took over. I'm gonna be the general manager. I'm gonna
make all the decisions, all this other stuff. And one
of the things we you know, on this show, we've
talked about for a long time, is Jerry just he
can't help himself. You want to be the owner, you
want to be the GM, the team president, you want

(11:28):
to have a radio talk show and be on every week,
and you can't.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Just you just got to hear yourself talk.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
So today, you know, coming off of four straight blowouts
in Dallas, not on the road in Dallas, what it
been being And they've been getting annihilated, right, They won
sixteen games in a row in Dallas. They always played well,
it was going away that they struggle. But now they
can't even win in Dallas and their season is on

(11:57):
the brink. So he goes on the what is that
the fan in Detroit? I mean in Dallas the fan
and one oh five Troy and he's been doing this right,
and he don't like the line of questioning today of
all days, and basically threatens one of the hosts that
maybe they need to replace him or go do something else.

(12:18):
Listen to Jerry Jones on the.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Radio, This is not your job. Your job is to
let league go over all the reasons that I've did
something and I'm sorry that I did it.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
That's not your job.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Well, my job is asking my job, or I'll get
another I'll get somebody else to ask these questions.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Man and Joe, you got something else? What else?

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (12:40):
This is what makes it even worse.

Speaker 6 (12:42):
Okay, So that the owner's meetings right now, right as
you guys know, that's how Tom Brady got confirmed as
the minority on Earth.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
The raide comment right, but Danda received as a great.

Speaker 5 (12:52):
Job, body cheat to get the minority.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
I'm sorry, you're gonna even load the man as an owner.
You're gonna load the man as an owner.

Speaker 6 (12:59):
But Dad or one of the few reporters out there
nationally who is not really beholden to agents. She kind
of does her own digging. She asked Jerry Jones directly
about this situation. Here's what he said to her hours
after this interview, when it all became a big media firestorm.
The facts are that I'm going to be grilled by
this tribunal. I don't need it to be by the
guys I'm paying. The wrong ones were doing the questioning. Now,

(13:23):
if those had been real fans sitting there, are there
people that knew what they were talking about, football people,
I may have had a different answer.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
So first of all, he's saying, hey, just because I
pay your bills, you know, allegedly, I don't even know
how that all works out?

Speaker 4 (13:36):
What over?

Speaker 3 (13:37):
But you mean I think he has part ownership of
the radio stakes. Why isn't it put ownership?

Speaker 1 (13:42):
He didn't ask him how do you and your wife
blah blah blah. He asked some very simple things. Do
you feel like you made enough moves? Do you feel
like you know your team's made the right decisions when
it comes to getting personnel? Like that's a normal question. Now,
you didn't ask him anything off off color in the
off beating and going his personal life. He literally asked
him about, Hey, you're going up against teams.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
Did you make the right moves?

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Is this?

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Do you guys make all this right decisions you needed
to make?

Speaker 1 (14:07):
By the way, he's asking the person who will not
relieve themselves of this duty, you can just be the
owner Jerry Jones and just sit up top own obviously,
make a few decisions, come down, talk to people, see
what's going on. But you make sure your face is
and everything you have a saying everything.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
What did he say a.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Few weeks back, I'm the reason everything comes here to
buck stops for me. There's nothing that happens without me knowing.
You put your son in front of a personnel as well,
when we know all he's gonna do defer is defer
to dad. So it's like, what was wrong with him
asking a question to the person who actually does the
decision making.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
That's not a far fetched idea. I'm gonna ask the
person who does.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
If you go to a rest or, hey, chef, you
made this food, right, I'm talking to chef, you cook
this food. So to me, that's not a crazier asonine
idea that they would ask him this, any idea that
just because you asked me, now I might get somebody
else to replace you. And who's gonna toss me easy
softball questions when you've luntier to come on every week
for the last twenty years.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
I just I just don't get it. I just genuinely
don't get it. And it shows me.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Yeah, he's more frustrated Rod Parker with this team than
he's usually lets on.

Speaker 4 (15:11):
Usually he comes back, he'll say some things here or there.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
But he's won thirteen games in a row of thirteen games, right,
the last three years.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Twelve, yeah, twelve twelve three years.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
To get my point, so the last couple of years,
even though they haven't gotten any success in the playoffs,
he's going on there with his chest stuck out. Right,
my team's winning twelve games a year. Blah blah blah blah.
You can say whatever you want you know what I mean,
I'm making money all this stuff. Looking look at the
place at and T Stadium. But now this is the time,
like it's bad, Like he can't hide behind that. This

(15:44):
team don't look like it's gonna win twelve games. They're
getting blown out at home when they used to have
a monopoly on winning there all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
But this is why Jerry's part of the problem is that.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
He doesn't want to He doesn't want to have any
ability because the questions that the guys asking them all right,
especially the first sight everybody they didn't make the moves
last year. If everybody said that a terrible off season,
they didn't. They didn't go get a running back. What
they do bring Ezekiel Elliott back right for no money? Basically,
I think Ezekiel's paying them to play.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
For the couch. Want to be home, right, That's how
bad it is.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
So so there's like all these bad things going on,
and now Jerry's being pressed and the first thing you
do is to kill the messenger.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
This is like the oldest trick.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
This is why I have an issue and a pushback
when it comes to the quote unquote new media, what
they want.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
In life is they want to be able to be
on ask their own questions that don't compromise them or
hold them accountable by people who they are comfortable with.
That's why I pushed back on the like the Draymond
Greens and all these guys and and and uh Gilbert

(16:58):
of Reenis and all these acting like that they're breaking
some news. Most of the time they're compromised. They're in
bed with everybody. Tiki Barber is on the radio in
New York. He won't bash the Giants. You know why,
because he played for the Giants. He wants to sit
in the owner owner Swede. He wants to goodie bag
every Christmas.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
I'm telling you so you're not gonna be able to
get the real stuff when people are compromised. I'm telling
you fans out there listening, you gotta be careful with
who you're listening to and why they're coming at you
with this stuff, because most of them are compromised.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Most of them can't be honest with you. That's why
you come to us and Fox Sports Radio in places
like that where they've never I've been on the radio
for thirty years. I've never been handling a sheet of
paper and told don't say this or don't say that. Ever,
I've never been done.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
But this is what Jerry.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
That's why Jerry. He somebody didn't get the email. Hey,
you can't get the email. Hey, I'm coming in, but
don't ask me this. Hey, I'm coming in. Don't say that.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
Come on the radio if you're not going to answer questions,
and just what's the point to me?

Speaker 1 (18:08):
To me, you got to own when you are going
out of your way to handle and do things differently.
What I mean is most owners divvy up the responsibilities, right, Hey,
you do this, you're gonna be GM. You're gonna be
the coach over there, you're gonna be my scout. Well,
when you're trying to hold all of these different hats,
wear all these different hats, and hold control of these

(18:28):
different arenas and areas, then well I got to ask somebody,
and it has to be you because you're responsible for this.
You've taken ownership for this. So now if I want
to ask these difficult questions, it has to be you.
And don't come in there mad at a radio guy,
a lowly radio guy. When you're really mad at your team,
don't go in there mad at the lowly radio guy,
the lesser of guys who's probably making it. He made

(18:50):
one hundred thousand dollars, he made NOICII, and you're mad
at him. No, you're mad at Mike McCarthy for not
having your guys prepared. You're mad at your guys for
not performing and playing what did you? You're mad that
you gave out Dak Prescott a hundred million dollars between
he and CD.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
You know you're mad at that.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
You're mad that you're looking at your investment like, oh wee,
am I gonna get this return on what's.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
The ROI on this? That's what you're mad at.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
And then Michael Jackson, right now, somebody needs to put
the mirror up and tell him he's looking at the
man in the mirror and stop yelling at some lowly
radio dude's doing his things, just doing the job, asking
very valid questions. And this is the thing that just
drives me crazy. I just don't I don't get it.
Sow Its double down to Rob Ry. He doubled down too.
He was like, oo, matter of fact is what I'm saying.

(19:34):
I expected from over there.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
But not my own. That's kind.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
And then to say, like this guy they do a
radio show in Dallas. What they make it this is
the thing that kills me. I might not be a
football coach, but I watched football for a long time.
And I'm not saying I know the excellent old like,
but it ain't brain surgery.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
I can't.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
I can't do brain surgery tomorrow, right, we'll scrub up
and cut somebody open and do brain surgery.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
But I could watch a football game and go, that's
a bad play, that's what using Derek Henry exactly. Or
wouldn't you call time out here with the clock kicking down?

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Like I could do that. It ain't that hard.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
They make it like you don't know football because you
didn't play or you didn't play at that level.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
And every time I hear that, right, oh, well you
didn't play in the NFL, I say that's funny. Bill
Belichick didn't play in the NFL either. Andy Reid didn't
play in the NFL. I could go on and on
and on, and they know football, right, So you don't
have to exactly play to understand the game.

Speaker 4 (20:33):
That's all.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
That's my point. I'm not saying you're a football coach
or on that level. But it ain't brain surgery.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
We're not to just mention something right because y'all getting
blown out forty whatever to nine or the six. I mean,
so clearly something right right. I don't have to be
a rocket scientist or former coach to know that that
something's not right. Your offense isn't clicking, and I'm producing
right now.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
So I don't.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Again I've already said, I just thought that was pretty
weak to go at a guy who has a very
very appropriate question about a team that is playing in
performing poorly. I don't see what the issue was with that,
and that had doubled down as if now I gotta
fire this guy because of that. I thought that was
pretty weak from a guy who's very powerful, and he
really doesn't need to do all that.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
He don't need to say anything that flex his muscles
and tell you it wasn't necessary for a dude. Go
get somebody else who will as the right question. You
don't even know what you're talking about. Well, Jerry, if
that's the case.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
Why are you on weekly? You chose this is what
you want to do, Jerry? You every week.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
I had the same thing. Me and Rick Barry had
a big fight on the radio. When I first started
on Fox Sports Radio, he was doing that same thing.
He played in the league, so obviously I can't tell
him anything. So I told him, well, what are you
doing on the radio. You don't know the radio, you
don't know journalism. So so I always say that to
players whenever they.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
Underhand shooting free throws. You know what I mean? Yeah, like, yeah,
oh Rick, all right, if we were in the same room.

Speaker 5 (21:51):
I would have kicked his cane from underneath them.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
So now, all right, rob Gi, Now I know when
we go to New Orleans or if we go to
the NBA All Star I need to know who to
look out. So now Draymond Green because he's Rudy goberro
head lot coming. And then uh and now Rick Barry
might might not smack you up with you with his cane.
That's all right, ma, Cheryl swoops, we can right.

Speaker 4 (22:12):
What did I say to her? I'm just doing all
idio matter of fact. After the show, Yeah, Rob, I
need to know.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
It'll be categorized because listen list, it's been a month now,
it's been a month of me being I'm starting to
get associated with the show. I need to know on
the streets people go looking at it already. Squeaz, come over,
Draymond from Michigan. I walk up to Joe up, Dret
getting smacked up.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
I need to know what's coming man.

Speaker 2 (22:38):

Speaker 3 (22:50):
It was reported that the UH Steelers could start Russell
Wilson as the starting quarterback. What is that is that
Monday against the What day are they playing Sunday? I'm
sorry because some more primetime jets with Davante and all
that and they playing Steelers. Fine, yes, and this does

(23:12):
not come as a surprise to me at all. I've
said the whole It doesn't that they're looking to move
on and go to Russell Wilson as a starting quarterback
over Justin Fields. Justin Fields didn't play awful.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
He did not.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
They won their first three games, they lost a couple,
then they won their four and two. Under normal circumstance,
you would be like, yes, this is good, and I
said this to you. But he didn't do enough to
where he was overwhelming, where there's no if like there's
no room for improvement on the offense, there is room
for improvement. And you have a veteran quarterback who's won

(23:47):
a Super Bowl and been to two Super Bowls. And
here's the other thing. And I said this to you,
this is about Mike Tomlin and what he's done there.
They haven't won a playoff game in eight years, since
twenty sixteen, and they have a defense they he wants,
you know what I mean, wants to give himself a
chance to win something. Now, if Russell Wilson gets out

(24:09):
there and what's the bed, all bets are off then,
but he has to at least see Russell Wilson and
see if this offense can do more if you take
the training wheels off. And that's what they had with
justin fields. That's why he didn't turn the ball over.
You looked at a lot of his games. He didn't
throw a lot of passes right ten to twelve passes.

(24:31):
Most of it was running plays and all that kind
of stuff. And they still were able to score and
kick a lot of field goals. But they know deep
down that if you're gonna win and win big, you
gotta do a little bit more than that. And so
this is why it's not a surprise. There are people
out there and Steelers fans who were like you, who
thought that there's no way they're gonna replace Justin Fields.

(24:52):
Coming off a win and being fourign too, people thought, well,
had he lost, maybe and they were three and three,
maybe they didn't make.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
The change, but they won.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Well, there's a couple other circumstances why you would thought
maybe that they would stick with Justin Fields.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
So so I want to say two different things here.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
For me, one, Kelvin Washington would be and would continue
to stick with Justin Fields.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
I think he is your long term answer. I think
he's only going to get better.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
I think he's free from what the Bears were and
actually has a team that has a defense, has an identity,
know what they are, and he can grow from there.
You're four and two, only to get better. He's what
twenty four to twenty five years old, So I like that. Also,
last time I seen Russell Wilson, wasn't that great? Wasn't
that great?

Speaker 4 (25:35):
He had a pretty good unit, wasn't that great.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
I'm not saying he was bad, but I'm saying he
didn't make me go, whoa, I have to get in there.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Well, but this, but this is the only thing is
Tomlin even said it. Go look at the quote. He
said that Justin Fields was good, but look for great. Yeah,
but there's a difference between good and great, like get great.
I'm gonna keep playing him. So this is what I
was going with this rob. So the thing I said
was Kelvin, I'm still running Justin Fields out there. But
I said, this is what I kept.

Speaker 4 (26:01):
Arguing with you.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Mike Tomlin doesn't have to marry himself to Justin Fields.
I kept saying that he didn't have to make a
decision because he has these two girlfriends that are new.

Speaker 4 (26:09):
I'm dating both of y'all. I'm dating to see what
I like, what I like about her. I like her.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
She doesn't like to cook. Oh, but she gets great
back inside. But that's not what but you and that's
what that's no, No, that's what I said every week
I said, I'm going with Justin Fields. But I'm I'm
saying kept saying Mike Tomlin doesn't have to make that
decision because he has no marriage between the two. It's
not Ben Roethlisberger. We got this thing. We've been going
together for years. I know you'll trust you. I'm a
ride with you, or I'm not gonna ride with you.

(26:34):
These are two dudes that came literally at the same time.
I don't know what y'all do. No, that's what I
rob g Was that not what I was saying? No?

Speaker 3 (26:40):
But but the but here's the issue is that if
Justin Fields had played well enough, he could have made
that call. Yes, you gotta stop shaking your head. He
could have made the call if he played well enough.
Because Russell Wilson as the older quarterback, your futures with
Justin Fields, would.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
You give me that? Yeah, I'm just saying he didn't
win the job out of camp. That's number one.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
He got the job because Russell Wilson got hurt, right
and he didn't like them. Go look at the numbers
that if they're at the bottom offensively despite their record,
despite winning the first three, despite.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
Two Do you did know it was not good? Now?
You do know?

Speaker 1 (27:20):
As I go back to about ten minutes, fourteen minutes ago,
I said this, that or both, because Mike Talmin has
not said he's going to Russell Wilson. Number one and
number two, you you killed I'm being serious.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
And he's also saying, to let me ask you this
right here and right now, who's gonna start on the
game on Sunday?

Speaker 4 (27:39):
It could be just that's not what I asked, because
I'm at you. He said both. No, no, no, Aunty.

Speaker 5 (27:43):
He just said the situation, who's starting the game on Sunday?

Speaker 4 (27:49):
I don't know?

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Okay, just like me and you don't know me and
you talked the other day. I asked you would Russell
Wilson play this year? And you told me no, that's
what I would. If i'm I would not have him start,
because I like what.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
Just got me.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
That is, even in consideration, tells you all you need
to know if it's a no. He didn't have to
say that. I'm not questioning that. What now he's saying
that they might get both. They might go to do
some hybrid. He just said, we there's a situation where
we use both starting on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
Hello, is this on? I don't know today?

Speaker 1 (28:24):
Choose that on.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
I don't know. I don't know the starting I'm not
asking you. I don't know who's started. Who's starting in
Russell Wilson, Yes, he started? It might be justin fields
and Russell Wilson comes in.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
And they had a sources say story, and Russell Wilson
won't start on sun.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
Really like this.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
If this worked, this worn't Mike tom and I would
be with you, Mike Thimland and Bright do that. He
would do that to spite somebody, just to tell you
don't know what's going on in our organization. And my
whole thing is, again, this was the best case scenario
if you're the Steelers in that we have a I
told you, I said it break in case of emergency
potential homes k to be.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Wrong once in a while. I have no problem to
be wrong. I still start just twice with Christophers wrong
Rice or twice this week and Tuesday.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
How did you even get that clip? That was the
one time I said that. This week he gets to
do it daily. I'm sticking with Justin. If he wants
to go to Russell Wilson, it makes all the sense. Again,
he's a more proven quarterback. He's a super Bowl winning quarterback.
Should have been two super Bowls, but they blew that.
I don't think I lit it with that interception. I
don't like what I've seen from him the last couple
of years. He looked better last year than the year prior,

(29:35):
for sure. But again, for me, this is why Mike
Tom and again I kept saying he's dating them becauselet's
say they go through a three or four game stretch
and Russell Wilson is I Let's say they go four games,
Russell Wilson goes too and two and he looks either
just like Justin Fields. I don't think he's athletic as
he can run as much at this point in his career.
But let's say he's all right, they very well may

(29:56):
go back to Justin Fields like I think he's in
a I'm gonna see what I like and then I'll
start to lock it down as we get towards potentially
a postseason. I think he is flirting and Dayton with
both of these dudes because I owe him nothing I
got him. At the same time, both of them are
on with these small contracts, not like I got some
fifty million dollar guy in here. But I like what
they were doing with Justin Fields, and also their offensive

(30:17):
line has not been great, and a lot of Pittsburgh
fans we actually had some calling and saying he's gonna
give them the best option as far as getting out
of the pocket and running and making places because Russell
ain't what he used to be as far as ye,
but you still have.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
To throw the football too. You just can't run every
down and they and rely on field goals. And that's true,
that's true. That and that's one of the issues and
why they had the training wheels.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
I don't think they needed it though, I really don't. Right,
like all jokes aside, I don't think they you know
how you like try to like, all right, let's just see,
let's just hold on. I think Justin Fields can sling
that thing because if you if you let guys go
out there and start to have a different organ sets
of offense, all sense of plays. We had to eight
from Solamo earlier he mentioned that like they kind of
were restricting him. Let that let him do his thing.

(31:04):
But now you have Russell Wilson, who obviously has a
better arm historically. We'll see if it still is uh,
and we'll see what he's able to do. But I
think I think we're gonna I don't think we're not
gonna see Justin Fields again. Like if Russell Wilson starts
whatever Sunday, I don't think we're not gonna see rus
Justin Fields again. I think they're gonna keep riding this
thing out until they say wholeheartedly he's the guy, like

(31:27):
whoever he might be.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
You might see him in a different set or out
there like as a slot or slash or something like that,
or you know, like some sort of.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
They got Ben Johnson the Lions offense, of course, but
I get you saying like a yeah, like that.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
And that's why I say when he says they might
both play, it's gotta be like that. It's not gonna
be like you come in for the running plays and
Russell you're out there for the past. I don't expect
him to go back and forth.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
I don't. I just don't.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
I don't if I'm in it. I don't quite see
why he had to pull the trigger so soon. I
don't like Again, I get you have Russell Wilson back
there and he looks healthy and you can do your thing.
I just still don't feel I feel like Justin Fields
was doing enough, playing well enough defense, good and really
good defense, and you're heading in the right direction to
where it to me, why I'm just ryaning with Justin

(32:18):
Field here.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
Are the numbers, and these are the numbers that I'm
sure that they saw and they know what the issues
quarterback QBR through six games fifty four, ranking twentieth amongst
all quarterbacks. Steelers ranked twenty eighth and passing yards and
twentieth in point you definitely want more of that, and
they ranked twenty fifth in total yards on offense. This

(32:40):
is why the change is being made despite the six
because they know that it's the defense and the field
goals that have been made. But those are not numbers
where you're gonna stick with the quarter.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Russell Wilson, he better come in and cook, you know
what I mean, because I think you're I think they
were building something with justin fields.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
I mean, shoot, is what six games? You know? I
mean like it's only six game.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
Wasn't like sixteen, So yeah, he only ten touchdowns, only
two turnovers give you about two two to thirty two
forty yards total yards defense away, They're built, They're built
to kind of play this ball right now with the
defense and TJ.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
Wattna guy.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
So I just again, I'm I'm not making the change
if I'm Mike Tomlin yet those numbers, but those numbers,
I just gave you because my projection is we're only
going to get better. He's he's this is his first
six games with us. He's only gonna get better. We're
only gonna start. And I'm also looking out there too.
Maybe we go get to Mike Williams, maybe we make
a trade and get another offensive player. I just wouldn't

(33:36):
make the move right now. But again, it's not like
he's making the move for you know, Kevin Cobb or something.
He's making a move for Russell Wilson. So I understand it.
He's approven veteran who's had a Hall of Fame like career,
if not a Hall of Fame career. So I again,
he's not going back to It's not just Joe Flacco
where it's like, okay, why why Joe Flacco, Like I know,

(33:58):
he's not your future. He's going to Russell Wilson, who
was a potential Hall of Famer. So I'm not mad
at it. I just wouldn't have if I'd ride this
thing out until we start to either lose more games
or just I'm giving you ten twelve weeks and it's
not working.
