one out, bottom of the sixth, leading two to one.
Of course, the Dodgers and Mets game four coming up.
I think that game starts at eight oh eight eacht You.

No, not ado? What time is it starts? Uh? Start soon?

and much more.

Of course, we got an NFL game on Thursday night,
a lot of stuff to talk to about. But uh,
we're having some technical issues with Kelvin. Right, we don't

do not. Possibly Elijah, somebody looking at the zoom by
the shots to the folks looking at we have the
exact same outfit. I mean not the exact as far
as the name brand, but the same, the exact color
scheme and style hat, hoodie.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
It's pretty actually hilarious. All right, there you go. We've
been doing this show together too long now that we
were starting dressing a like. That's good. Webelievable. We got
to relax here, all right. What's up my man? How
are you good man? There's a whole bunch of stuff
to get to today. Man, we got it.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
You know what I like about what's out there is
we've got a great variety too, you know, of a conversation.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
So I'm looking forward to that.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it as well. So much
to do, so little time less. Welcome in the odd
couple crew. We wouldn't be able to do this fine
radio program without him. Of course. Rob g is our producer.
Steve de Seger is at the anchor desk. He'll keep
us updated throughout the program. Elijah is our social media.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Go wow, that's right.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
And on the ones and twos, it's none other than
there you go and coming up Anthony Wrotrotto, who is a.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Forbes senior MLB writer.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
Wrotrotto will join us in about twenty five minutes and
obviously we'll talk some baseball and whatnot, so I'm looking
forward to that. Oh yeah, but let's start here, and
let's start with some NFL and Rob g we do
have sound right. Patrick Mahomes, tremendous quarterback, has done so
(04:11):
many unbelievable things in such a short period of time. Obviously,
he's won two MVPs, three Super Bowls. You know, you
can just talk about the way this guy broke into
the league and how people are saying, you know, he
has a chance or a go potential. I do have
an issue. I think he hasn't even passed Joe Montana yet.
(04:33):
But that's neither here near there for today. But I
do have some criticism of Patrick Mahomes, and most of
it has to do with off the field. Okay, okay,
and here's my off the field issues with Patrick Mahomes.
He had a chance to do something very very special
(04:54):
when he came into the league and he won the
Super Bowl in the MVP. And it's by the time
when his contract ca up and they were ready to
pay him, he could have forced the Chiefs to sign
him to a fully guaranteed contract. Shorter just said, hey,
this is what I want. The Chiefs were in no
position to balk. He had just won a Super Bowl
and an MVP. You know, at his first full year,
(05:18):
like what are you? What is the conversation? Or second
full year? I can't remember now, but you get my point.
He was very young. He took a really bad deal
home team discount. They promised him to Moon that he
would be able to hold on to all of his
players and all this stuff, and right away they started
getting rid of people because they couldn't pay them.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Right. So I didn't like that. And now he's in.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
A position where he should be able to dictate some
of the stuff that the Chiefs are doing. And I'm
not talking about being a diva. I'm talking about just dude,
you're down three receivers. Can you go get us a receiver?
We just saw two really good receivers, right, get traded? Right,
(06:03):
And we're not in a conversation for any of those.
Come on, they're bringing back reed Jacks, They're bringing back
Kareem Hunt, right, They're bringing back.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Juju Shusters, Smith Shuster, Smith Shuster.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
They're bringing back those guys, and talent is being moved around.
Can you tell me what a chance to three pete
which has never been done. If they got DeVante Adams,
do you understand what I'm saying, like this is for
your legacy?
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Why are they being cheap with me? And let me
just hear.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
Let's hear from Patrick Mahomes and then you can jump in.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (06:42):
Yeah, I have extreme confidence with the guys that are
on that football field. I mean they've won games, they've
they've won Super Bowls, They've made plays in big moments,
and Brett Veach does a great job of bringing players
in that can step up whenever their number is called.
And so every time I step on that football field,
I feel like we have the best ability to win.
And I think that that's the credit to Brett Beach
and Coachy bringing guys that really get after it and
put in the work to be great every single day.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
All Right, So here's a couple of things that I
think is happening. Sometimes I think success can get in
your own way, and I think Patrick Mahomes Andy Reid
in that organization has had success in a multitude of ways.
They've had success with all the stars, Tyreek Hill, They've
had of course, Travis Kelcey, Kareem Hunt when he was
(07:25):
at his best in the backfield. They had a bunch
of success with guys. Then they had all the drops.
Last year, guys had butterfingers, couldn't hold on a nothing.
I don't know if they was hanging around Diddy and
had baby oil on her hands, they couldn't catch anything.
Yet it didn't matter because they would won a Super Bowl.
So Rob, I think there's a part of Patrick Mahomes
(07:46):
that says, you can give me Boo Boo the fool,
or you can give me Tyreek Hill.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
I'm going to the super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
I think he believes in his skill set so much,
Andy Reid so much and what they've built that he's saying,
no matter who here, yes we can win. And it
reminds me again, I keep comparing to me the iterations
of the Patriots. Where it started off where it was
the defense, special teams, and Tom Brady was a good
game manager. Then it became Tom Brady was very explosive.
(08:14):
They had a bunch of weapons, and there was different
varieties in which the team is you know was created.
This version of them is we've got great defense. Patrick Mahomes,
you don't have to be spectacular, just don't hurt us
and make key plays at key times we can win.
And I think he's just kind of at this era
right now where he's thinking that he's gonna fall into
(08:34):
the era you're asking for in another year or two,
where he's gonna realize I need some stars. I need
some guys who can.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Get it done.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
I can't keep depending on rejects or rehires. I need
some flat out dogs. And I think he's gonna get
there to hear two right now. I think he could
just win. It's like Lebron at his Apex. Me you,
Alex and Rob g had a chance to go to
the finals with Lebron and his Apex because he's not,
but he didn't win enough if he had a chance
to get there. I'm not This isn't a Lebron conversation
(09:03):
about greatness. I'm saying Lebron with anybody could get to
the finals. And I think Patrick Mahomes is in is
no matter who's around me. As long as I got
me Andy Reid, this system, this is what we do.
I can get there right or wrong. That's where he
is mentally, I believe.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
I think here here's my issue with Patrick Mahomes. He
should be an example for the NFL, and it could
be both on and off the field, and he's failed
at both from the standpoint of he didn't secure the
(09:39):
contract that he was entitled to for his body of work,
and he's turned into a company man for the Chiefs
because when you sign that contract and they tell you
they're going to keep everybody in place so that you
have a chance to win in the first thing they
do is get rid of Tyreek Kill because they don't
want to pay them. That's when I'm done being the
(10:01):
company man. I can't do that for you. And it's
worked out, it's worked out for you, but let's be honest.
You got shut out in the second half of the
AFC Championship game.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
It worked out, but if it didn't work, if.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
They didn't win that game, you would go back and say,
what do you want Patrick Mahomes to do? Because he
doesn't have any weapons. All I'm saying is people are
being moved around us, not like guys on change exchanging
teams or talent isn't available.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
That's my point.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
And we've had Andrew Brand on this show a million times,
the former executive with the Packers, and he said time
and time again. These teams can do whatever they want.
They can kick the can down the road, they can
spend the money. It's all a shell game. And for
(10:58):
Patrick Mahomes not to feel like Davante Adams is available,
what you just told him that Last year they were
dropping passes and everybody's hurt this year, I don't want
Davonte Adams.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
I'm one of the all time great quarterbacks. Are you kidding?
But that's the challenge.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
I'm not even necessarily disagreeing as much as I'm saying
I think where his mindset.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
This is what I believe he's thinking.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
I believe he thinks I'm that good, I'm that great,
and unfortunately or fortunately, he has been right. It doesn't
matter if I'm surrounded about stars. It doesn't matter if
Fro'm surrounded by mid it doesn't matter if I'm surrounded
by bubbs. All that matters is he keeps winning. Literally,
He's known nothing but winning in this league. So I
think until he has a few seasons where maybe they
(11:45):
are go eight to nine, or maybe they're just ten
and seven, barely walk into the playoffs and the guys
keep dropping passes, Lamar Jackson beats him a couple of times.
Then I think he's looking around like, all right, I
need some help. But right now he's five and ohero.
Right now he's.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Raining chap not a good but and I hear you,
but this is his mindset.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
I think you gotta be realistic and you keep doing it.
And my my point is, why should a guy of
this ILK accept the bargain basement stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
It just doesn't make sense. It's not fair to him.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
Is that there's a real chance that he could do
even some extra special stuff if they just do what's right,
do right by him. Nobody's asking for them to get
ten players. Don't do a Lebron. I'm not asking you
to team up and go get the five best wide
receivers in the league in order to win.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
That's Lebron. But he can't get one of them. They
already took Tyreek Hill away. That's what I'm talking about,
replacing a guy of that ILK.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
He had it is I'll say this, it's early, meaning
they still got another what.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Two weeks to give or take. They're not doing it.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
They might do something, and I think they're not gonna
go get a superstar because I don't know who else
is go on, But they're gonna go get a Mike
Williams from the Jets who's already out there. They're gonna
get it Mike Williams, who's gonna end up with like
five six touchdowns. They're gonna go all the way back
to the AFC Championship game. Maybe they get into Super Bowl,
maybe they don't. But they're gonna just keep winning games.
And I'm saying your idea is right, but I think
(13:16):
winning and having success, having a great relationship with the owner,
great relationship with Andy Reid, this is what's happening. They
feel they can get it done no matter what. It's
gonna take some losses. It's gonna take some hard seasons
for them to actually change the way they've been operating.
Because right now they're gonna say, Rob, if if was
a fifth we'd all be drunk. We ain't we keep winning?
You talking about if they would have lost?
Speaker 2 (13:35):
They ah no.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
But I'm telling you what they're gonna say this is
this is You could already see it. Being a company man,
isn't there people have to be company men because they
don't have any talent or that's where they fit in.
He's not that guy and for them to treat him
that way is ridiculous. For him to accept it and
just always make excuses and go along with whatever the
Chiefs tell them to say, That's what I feel bad
(13:58):
about because it's not necessary.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
He's better than that, all right.
Speaker 5 (14:02):
We want to hear from you eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Are you tired of Patrick Mahomes being a company man?
Speaker 5 (14:13):
Does he need to start flexing his muscles with the
chiefs front office and say, dude, get me help. There
are people out there available that's very doable.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
We'll continue the conversation next with you.
Speaker 5 (14:26):

Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
So we got.
Speaker 5 (16:09):
Jerry in Seattle. You're on the eye couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Jerry?
Speaker 7 (16:14):
Hey, guys, how's it going right?
Speaker 2 (16:16):
How are you hey?
Speaker 8 (16:18):
Good? And uh, first time.
Speaker 7 (16:19):
I'm calling since the switch over at.
Speaker 9 (16:21):
Calvin out really really digging.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Your vibe in there and appreciate you man.
Speaker 7 (16:25):
Yeah, that's good stuff.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
Thank you, Jered.
Speaker 7 (16:28):
Yeah, Rob, this one's really got under your skin. Man.
I think, uh, I think Patrick Mahomes might just be
looking at you know, twenty years of the dynasty that
the Patriots had and you know, maybe they're just trying
to emulate that.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
And as far as.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
Sound like, but Jerry, Jerry, there was a nine year
gap where Tom Brady didn't win.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Why should he put hisself through that?
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Like people forget about that because no, may let me
make my point.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Let me make my point.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
He went nine years without winning, and they did go
get Randy Moss. They did go get him a big
time receiver after having dog food for the most part
as receivers.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (17:12):
No, I got it, but I would, if you don't mind,
I would.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
Say that, yes, nine they didn't not win.
Speaker 7 (17:18):
They didn't win the Super Bowl, but they won more
games than everybody else.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
But they went nine years without winning.
Speaker 5 (17:22):
That's a long time with tom Bill Belichick, can you
acknowledge that?
Speaker 10 (17:27):
Absolutely?
Speaker 7 (17:28):
I just think that Patrick's got something figured out. And
you know, but I hear you, but you know, the
Raiders weren't going to give him DeVante Adams and you know,
no disrespect.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
No, they said they were out.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
They didn't even make an offer. They were out because
its financial.
Speaker 7 (17:42):
No disrespect to Davante. But my hamstring hurts until I
get to go play with Aaron Rodgers and then a dozen.
I mean, I don't know if that's the kind of
guy they want there. They got a really good culture,
even though I think DeVante seems like a first great person.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Anyways, all right, Jerry, thanks for the call.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Yeah, you you sneaking in the whole Patriots didn't win
an years. Rob they were a helmet catch away and
a great pass again and the second one from.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Peyton Europe or no, no, they lost.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
They got to the super Bowl, though you acting like
they they went lose.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
They got to the Supers.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
They didn't win for nine years. Either you win or
you lose sports.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
As a short man, they got Randy Moss. Yep, they
got Randy Moss, got to the super Bowl and lost.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
Right, but they went out and got Tom Brady a receiver.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
That's my post. I'm saying in the middle of your point.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
They still lost, but they went out and did something.
Speaker 5 (18:30):
And that's all I'm saying. You can't keep saying, look
at the receiver. They dropping the ball. It's not fear
of Patrick Mahomes. It's because they don't have good receivers.
And then they are good receivers out there and they're
not trying to get one.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
That's my point. Ring that man, that man got three
rings about to get four.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Well, I'll believe it when I see it.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
Sean and Sacramento, you're in the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
What's up showing.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
From another spicy Thursday.
Speaker 8 (19:02):
Hey man, y'all over here snapping right now. But look,
Uck is right, and I'm not even mad at Patrick
Mahomes putting on the company line in front of in
front of everybody, in front of the media. But behind
the scenes, you got to be applying that pressure, especially
when you got your ex over in Miami talking about
how great a ball you throw, talking about how great
you are, consciously flirting with you through the media himself.
(19:26):
You got to go and make that move. And I'm
on top of all that. Man. Look, if you are
chasing the Patriots, the Patriots gonna stand stagnant. They made
the hard moves. They got rental old bets when they
weren't worth eight dollars anymore. Man, they did all the
hard stuff you have to do as a GM if
they want to do their team right, Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes,
they can't sit on their hands.
Speaker 9 (19:44):
Man.
Speaker 8 (19:44):
You got to make those hard moves. Man, Stop with
the recycled goods. Kareem Hunt.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Yes, that's ridiculous. They got rid of those guys.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Y'all act like that like Patrick Mahomes is forty two
years old or something like I'm not listen I'm not.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
I would love.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
I've said at some point they need to go get
some they need to go get a talented person. I'm
with you, but I think for the problem is the
challenge is they keep winning. So for them it's like, well,
we haven't done anything wrong yet because all we keep
doing is winning.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
I think they're gonna have.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
To take a couple of l's before they realize they
do need to go out there and get somebody. Anthony
which Richroto, is going to be joining us Forbes Senior
MLB riter and just a bit.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
From the tire rack dot com studios.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Right now, Anthony Ritroto is joining us Forbes Senior MLB writer.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
You can follow them on Twitter as well. A with Troto.
We appreciate you joining us today. What up?
Speaker 9 (20:43):
What's going on? Fellas? I appreciate the time. And you know,
before we get started, I just want to say when
I was a young scribe on the Baseball Beat and
I was just kind of starting out on it. I
met Rob in a presscox. It might have been in Detroit.
I think the Tigers were in the playoffs, you know,
like twenty years ago or something like that before this season.
And uh, you know, we talked for a while and
(21:03):
then he told me that I ever needed anything or
had any questions to never hesitate three shots too. And
I'll say this as a young journalist and especially the
youngers of color, that meant a lot to me. Rob.
So I always told you in very high.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
Regard, Anthony, that means the world to me, because, uh,
there's no way I could be in a press box
see a writer of color, especially and especially a young
guy just trying to you know, get in there footing
in the business or whatever and not reach out. So
I'm glad that you had that experience with me. And
you know, it's always there.
Speaker 9 (21:36):
For me, you know that, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
All Right, there you go. I know Kelvin sick. Now, Okay,
I'll just wait for the I was waiting for the bromance.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
He just he just man, because none of those TV
guys have ever come up to him and said anything.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Right, is that I got Listen, I have I have
my whole slew of of mentees and what nook. So sorry,
Rob already knows how I feel. Man, you knew great
stuff from so many people.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Man, I appreciate that.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
Here now, really all right, let's go here the TV
ratings we were just talking about on the update that
through the roof. I mean, I think baseball has done
a lot of things right lately. When they change some
of the rules to pitch clock, the games have been faster,
stolen bases, you can't do the shift, and you can
see the numbers. And now this year you got some
really good teams in big markets, good stars, and the
(22:25):
ratings are really good for baseball.
Speaker 9 (22:28):
Yeah, you know what, I think a lot of it
has to do with who's in and then who's on TV. Now,
the whole changes and the shorter games and the quicker pace, all.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Of that is a plus.
Speaker 9 (22:38):
But when you have a team like the Padres, who
are you know, they're not really an upstart, but like
sort of the new sort of flavor of the day
kind of teams, and the team who is looking to
knock off, you know, kind of a big bad payroll
right in the Dodgers. That helps. And then you have
the Dodgers, who are the big bad payroll or one
of them.
Speaker 8 (22:57):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (22:57):
And then they have Jolo Tani first time in the postseason,
superstar kind of player like like you know, may go
down as as one of the best players in baseball history,
is not the best. And then you have obviously the
Yankees and the Mets, two major market teams in it,
and so all of that stuff. You know when you
when you roll it up help and and you going
to attract eyeballs from even tagle and people outside of
(23:20):
those markets. So uh, you know this is you know,
baseball looking their chops. That what could be for the
World Series? Uh, that's for sure. But yeah, it's excellent
for the game.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Well I'll tell you what.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Yeah, you mentioned all the star power you get in
this game, but I'm gonna go to the series with
uh one of the stars of the hun Tire MLB
showed up and that show Heyl Tani. Folks were worried,
like Rob Parker that he was gonna be able to
do anything leading off he showed.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Up a hit with people with nobody on It's the
Weirdest Yesterday or no, can you just admit that, Rob geez?
So so I digress.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
I'm looking at this Dodger team, and I'm thinking it's
either feast, they're famine right now. They're either shutting you
out or they're losing. What do you make of what
they're able to do? And we've talked about it when
you got the bullpen going right back to what they
started a couple of games ago, shutting people out.
Speaker 9 (24:14):
Yeah, I think they have the best roster top to
bottom when you look at everything, and that bullpen has
been absolutely lights out. You know, they've had a couple
of hiccups and then seems got off the rails for him.
And I think there was a one game that's against
San Diego and then a one game against the Mets.
So far, but I think top to bottom they seem
to be the most complete roster. And the whole tiny
(24:35):
stuff that is just so so weird. I mean, we're
dealing with the super small sample sizes. You know, this
is over the course of you know, like a week
during the regular season is what it would be kind of.
But you know, you look at what he's doing with
with nobody on base, and it's pretty clear he is
swinging at a lot of first pitches that he typically
doesn't swing at. You know, maybe he's trying to get
(24:56):
something going on his own, you know, just a little
impatient there, sing a little bit more. Uh. And then
and and also I think that you know he is
he has sort of gotten out of himself at different
times this season, doing similar kinds of things. Uh. And
maybe he's just the kind of rare player where the
(25:17):
pressure and the leverty gets higher and he calms down
because when he's got guys on base, they almost can't
get the guy out. And he's he's leading major League
Baseball in the postseason, uh, in just about every offensive
category when it comes to you know, hitting with guys
on and so he he's not disappointed in that light.
But you know, if we need news angle, we need
(25:41):
channels that we can that we can go down. So
you know, his O four with nobody on, is it
for him right now?
Speaker 2 (25:46):
How about Dave Roberts, the manager of the Dodgers.
Speaker 5 (25:50):
If they make the World Series, they'll be happy even
if they lose it. But if they don't make it,
is there any like they had the best record in
baseball all Did they just give him a mulligan because
of the some of the injuries and the pitching, or
do they say man, this is bad. We won the
nl WES eleven out of twelve times and we have one.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
World Series to show for it, Like where where is he?
Speaker 5 (26:14):
Is he safe if they get to the World Series,
if they lose this series to the Mets, does that
change how they look at them?
Speaker 9 (26:21):
I'll say, first off, if they don't win the World Series,
they're not gonna be okay with that. It's gonna be
there's gonna be some people who were highly, highly upset.
But I think in terms of the Dave Roberts question, Look,
I've written in the past, you know when he's had
his wonders in October, you know it may be trying
to move on to the sky for the next was
the no standpoint. But this season it's been hard to
(26:44):
find the things that he's done that's that cost him game.
And I've given him the flowers and I know a
lot of other people have to this this year so
far to say, you know what, he's pushing the right button.
You know, it helps when you have the kind of
bullpen they have, But you know, he's made the right
moves this season. And I think that had they lost
(27:05):
in the against the Padres, there would have been a
conversation I think in the winter time about what do
we do from going forward. But I think the fact
that he got past that, and especially if they end
up beating the Mets, I think he gets a little
bit of a mulligin here, because they're going to look
at it, and even if they lose to either Cleveland
or New York in the World Series, they're going to say, look,
(27:25):
the rotation that we had even halfway through the season,
that's that we thought was going to carry us through
the postseason. One guy was left from that rotation one
and and we put that on days if we didn't
get far enough or if we didn't accomplish the eltonend goal.
I think as of now, the answer is probably no,
and he's probably safe.
Speaker 6 (27:46):
Well.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
I mean, that's what he gets all the blame for everything,
he gets none of the praise. It's got to be
a difficult time at times for him. Anthony Metrotto is
joining us for senior MLB writer. For me, I look
at this as Rob Manfred, We've been having this conversation.
He has to be, you know, excited about his options,
whether it's if the Dodgers win and if the Yankees win,
(28:07):
you get Yankees Dodgers. We've been waiting for this for
forty years, nineteen eighty one, for nineteen eighty one. This
will be exciting. The Mets win, Yankees win, you get
the Subway series.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Which one do you think matter? If you're Rob Radford,
I would prefer X.
Speaker 9 (28:24):
Oh, there's no question about it. You want the Dodgers
and the Yankees. I think you get that sort of
traditional rivalry, even though they haven't met each other since
nineteen eighty one, the year that you're truly was born.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
All right, crazy, I'm here, brother, But you know.
Speaker 9 (28:42):
What I think that you know, having two New York teams,
you still just get one major market, and it's a
mega market, but it's still one. I think it's you
get the Dodgers and the Yankees in it. You get
two mega markets. Not only do you get two mega markets,
you get the country of Japan, who was going to
tune in no matter what time of the day, the
game's on over there. So you know, when I mentioned
earlier that they're probably looking their chops and rubbing their
(29:04):
hands together. They've got to be hoping for a Dodger's
Yankee series preferably. But you know if it's if it's Mets,
Yankee thinks they'll be okay with that.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
All right, Anthony Richardo, thank you so much.
Speaker 9 (29:16):
Ben Man.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
We'll see you down the road. Are you gonna be
at the World Series?
Speaker 9 (29:21):
I will be. I will be so uh. I will
be checking in from there with everybody.
Speaker 5 (29:25):
Yep, all right, I'll see you there. I will be
at the World Series as well, no matter who's in it.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
All right, we'll check up. Thank you.
Speaker 9 (29:32):
I appreciate it, okay.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
And so that's what happens. Somebody come in and pay
you a little compliment. You can you give them inside information?
Speaker 2 (29:38):
You don't give me. You didn't tell me you was
gonna be on in the world. Look at that.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
See how he is, Roger, somebody comes off. Where would
I be without rib and now? Oh hey, I'll see
you didn't tell me. Know what happened though? Is my
hat just busted? Like like it just somehow distrapped?
Speaker 2 (29:53):
Yeah? I bet it is. Yeah, I bet it is.
If we've over here all right to say nothing? What
because he said something nice? Why can't you just go like,
oh that's off, that's awesome.
Speaker 10 (30:05):
He's giving kisser for what? No, that was awesome. That
was a story.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
That was cool. And I've told you before you do.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
In fact, when we were at NABJ What was that
Alabama when you were honored?
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Yes, we all were there. It was about twenty of us.
Speaker 8 (30:20):
Man.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
People, you've shown love to support it.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Man, you've been a big mentor to We all popped
up at of champagne for you and celebrated you. So
I acknowledge that. However, you over here getting inside baseball
not telling me stuff, telling telling them.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
GZ like, what what do you mean You're going exactly?
Speaker 9 (30:35):
Rob?
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Do you feel me? See how he.
Speaker 11 (30:37):
Does is he's not told anyone else here he's going
to the World Series.
Speaker 10 (30:40):
But as soon as that got said something nice yea.
Speaker 5 (30:42):
I know Scott is texting me what do you mean
you're going to the World Series?
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Okay, Hey, Shekel City plus Antonio Pierce. They messed up again.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
One right here the other way around, by the way, No,
that's what I'm saying. Friends ripped Living Single off. Yeah,
it was so Living Single ripped off the Golden Girl.
So stop it. Hold let me think about that.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
I'll never consider that because I wanted to think of
something from the nineties and up.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Let me think.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
You might uh yeah, yes, you might be onto something.
You might be onto something that you know what, I'll
give you that. Man, you're gonna ride to the Golden
Girls see you the Wills. I'm just gonna call.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
It like I see it because I've heard that before,
and I just think children have been copy back forever.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Children have been copied for. But that was like in
the same era and act.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
But here's what makes that one interesting because the actual
person's from NBC admitted they did that.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
So Golden Girls, I'll give you that.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
However, it's like a decade apart, give or take it

You know what time it is, right Chuck the city, Yes, sir,
well here we go. Unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (32:41):
Aaron Judge just hit a two run home run the
tidy game off, the best closure in baseball with two strikes?
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Are you kidding me? He's back?
Speaker 5 (32:52):
Rob g Did you see him go the other way?
He went the right field with that, Steve, that's that moment.
That's that moment you were looking for. They were dead
in this game. Unbelievable. Wow, you know they're quiet in Cleveland.
I can't hit the crowd because we're on the radio.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
But anyway, and sometimes listen, Sometimes fate is what it is.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
We need the Yankees and Dodgers. So dude, it looks
like there's three three that that game was over. Wow,
all right, Checko City.
Speaker 5 (33:21):
I was one and one last night, uh one and
one tonight the Mets plus one and a half runs.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Mets plus one and a half runs.
Speaker 5 (33:31):
They host the Dodgers Game four at City Field in
New York.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
And I'm going with the under.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
They scored a lot of runs last night, Kelvin, I
got the under. I'm gonna go with the seven is
the number. So I'm gonna go with the under tonight
that it's just not as high scoring, not far fetched.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
I picked the score earlier to be four to two
Dodgers my schedule, Okay.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
So where did it go? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (33:57):
And so I got again Mets plus one of that runs,
and I'm taking the under under seven and a half.
And remember, I'm not telling you who to bet on.
I'm telling you who I bet on.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Well, Aaron Judge just saved that bet. That that one
and a half he might have might have just saved
you with that one.
Speaker 5 (34:14):
Dude, that's a big That's that's what the postseason is about, though.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
One hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
You know what line I love, man, and I can't
take credit for I gotta give Kenny Smith love for it.
He said, you know, the regular season is where you
make your name. The playoffs are where you make your fame.
And that's so true.
Speaker 9 (34:30):
Man.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
You know you you can be Aaron Judge MVPs with.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
This is where you become immortal, you know, making me
having these big plays. He's big at bats, he's big
catches out on the outfield.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Whatever.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
It may be a big night pitching if you're if
you're a pitcher. Walker Buehler showed up last night the
big time pitched Wasters Bueller.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
Day off, and I couldn't even blame you because I
had some He actually was Walker Buehler's day on is
what happened yesterday?
Speaker 2 (34:55):
Yeah, so I totally get it.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
So you got some beef with the Raiders and they're
handling their head coach Antonio Pierce over there.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
Huh, Just it looks like it's a mess now. And
here we are the Raiders, rob g jumping. This is
your team. And it wasn't that long ago that they
all were in love with Antonio Peers right, Oh, don't
interview anybody else.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
He's the guy. We want him, we want him, and
now look where we are. You know what I mean?
Speaker 10 (35:21):
And you know the guy who was most vocal about that.
Speaker 5 (35:23):
You gotta be kidding me, John Carlos, stan just hit
all run. This guy's the Steve Is he not the
best closure in baseball?
Speaker 10 (35:35):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (35:35):
I'm gonna just say yeah for Steve. Sorry, no, Mike's
not on Steve am I right.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Yeah, I mean this is listen, this is what we
talked about the two different times. Remember there are two
different approaches. We had a conversation Michael.
Speaker 11 (35:50):
Yeah, in seventy four games, he only allowed thirty nine
hits this.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Year seventy four Wow, put it this way.
Speaker 10 (35:58):
Six month season, he didn't even allow six earned runs
this year.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Wow. He just that that that's that's sick.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
And we seen you see the manager. It's okay, it's
all right, it's okay. No, it's not Now what are
they saying? What's going on here?
Speaker 10 (36:15):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (36:15):
I thought the umpire Well.
Speaker 10 (36:16):
He was touched first on the way around.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
He did he did all they were saying he didn't
all he turned around, but he touched it. Just Stanton's
been a little extra.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
Did he did he tie Babe Ruth for the most
home in the postseason or something like?
Speaker 2 (36:32):
That's crazy?
Speaker 6 (36:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Yeah, crazy? All right? Rob g what should Antonio pears?
The bottom line?
Speaker 5 (36:41):
And should he still be coach or did they make
a mistake by not interviewing other people, or you're cool
with it, this could be worked out.
Speaker 10 (36:48):
Well, all of the above is bad.
Speaker 11 (36:49):
You know, we talked, we talk about this for months
now and we don't have time to play the sound.
But the biggest supporter of Antonio appears getting the job
in the first place, Number one, DeVante Adams, and he's
publicly adverquat to the trade out.
Speaker 10 (37:00):
Of town and Max Crosby.
Speaker 11 (37:02):
Max Crosby said today in the locker room that you know,
I'm not anywhere to be in a rebuild, and wherever
I end up is I'm there to win. That doesn't
sound like a guy who has plans on being in
Vegas long term just.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Saying, well, he's going to be a Lion, so it
doesn't matter to me. He's coming to the Detroit Lions.
He went to ma Ama Mater Eastern Michigan, so come
on back. I'm excited about that. Speaking of though, if
they got rid of Pierce, who should be the next
coach or who shouldn't be We'll tell you next Fox
Sports Radio
