a Fox Sports Radio NBA insider, he will be joining
(01:09):
us and also last call, last call, in case you
missed getting in on any of our juicy topics today,
you'll have one last chance to get there.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yes, can you hear me? No, we got a malfunction
on microphone. Boy, there we go. We got you. You
can hear me now, all right, there we go? What what?
All right, I'm back, You're back. All right?
Speaker 1 (01:34):
So our number three and you know what the big
thing is, So I'm just JJ. Reddick recently told the
media that they're going to get up today, that they're
going to get Bronnie in the game and they're going
to try to do it in the flow of the game, correct,
rob g right, in the flow of the game. And
(01:56):
you just wonder, I get it, you know, like this
whole build up and it's national television and instead of
just letting it happen because there's that moment or that
situation where you could put in a rookie who it
just feels weird that just because you make a team
and you're a rookie doesn't mean you play game one
or you get you know, playing time. That's why the
(02:17):
whole thing doesn't feel right because it's not organic. And
even you know, the Griffies are going to be there,
Ken Griffy Senior and Ken Griffy Junior. The difference in
the dynamic of that is that Junior was the star
and Dad was the veteran, right left handed bat off
(02:38):
the bench. That was a real job for somebody to have.
And you could say, yeah, we need a left handed
bat off the bench. Why not to be senior? Right,
he could still hit and go you know and d
H or whatever it is. But he wanted to start
a team. This is like so different because the dad,
the older guy, is still the star and the young
(02:58):
guy brought is it. So it doesn't feel organic and
that's why it's going to feel a lot of people
won't embrace this because it doesn't feel organic. And I
totally get that. There are some people will be repulsed
actually by it.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Saying that is that you repulse because I had you
with the you know, if it wasn't organic with it repulsed.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
No, there are there are people who think that sports
is the last place, especially when you talk about we
talk about this all the time in this country where
a country could be sixty some odd seventy percent white
and the National Football League is seventy percent black, because
it's not based on anything other than your talent.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
You have to earn your way on.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
You can't say that in any other business in this country,
for you know, like a management or you know, meritocracy.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
It's the true, true, the truest.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
And that's the same thing in baseball where you have
the Hispanic players, the black players.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
It's not a league Japanese.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
They got players from Japan who are who the highest
paid players, not before any other reason other than their talent.
And we don't care what they look like, we don't
care where they come from. Can he play, can he hit?
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Can he pitch?
Speaker 1 (04:12):
We're gonna give him some hundred million dollars. And this
is where people who believe in that and love the
idea of this the best person makes the team has
a hard time with.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
In a vacuum. I don't disagree with anything you just said.
I think there are in anything of life, there is
cause for an exception. There is an anomaly, There is
a exception to the rule, and I just think you're
looking at one because again, this has never happened before
in the NBA. There's a great chance it never happens
unless Wmby has a kid like right now, and then
(04:47):
maybe there's a chance if Winby plays another eighteen twenty years,
because you know, he looks like he's going to be
a great what have you. This is just something I
think is so fascinating. We heard about the possibility this
is happening maybe four or five years ago, and it
was a far fetched idea. Maybe in a perfect world
it can happen if the stars aligned. Well da get
(05:10):
Rod Parker, the stars aligned. And this isn't just the
only way to make this happen is you have to
be able to contrive. Is it has to be a
little not organic in the sense that it has to
be planned out, because it would be different if Bronni
just happened to make the NBA. Lebron specifically said, and
so as Bronnie, I want to play with my father,
(05:30):
I want to play with my son. And in order
to make that happen, you gotta vocalize it. You gotta
talk to the team. The team has to figure out
a way to make it happen. It isn't just circumstance
that you actually get to play with him, not just
in the NBA able to play with him. But I'm
agreeing that this had to be orchestrated.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
No, but the idea that he even plays on opening
night on a rook on a rookie goal didn't even
look good in the preseason. Is the other part that
where people if Ronnie balled out, like who's the other
rookie at that?
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Yeah, and like if you ball there would be no question,
there would be none of that.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
There would be no hate, no dislike of it, no
sour pusses, sour faces. Because he's earned his way on sure,
he should get some playing time. Did you see them
ball out in the preseason? No? But Bronni until the
last game where he finally got some points. Right, he
scored seventeen point but other than that, he didn't look
that good. So people are looking at this as saying,
(06:27):
this feels like a photo op for lebron. This is
about Lebron, not about Bronny. It's about Lebron to have
a photo op, to be able to say, see, I
was the all all right, forget that I lost the
most NBA finals of any other.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Because forget about that.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
I want you to know that I'm the all time
leading scorer because I played like thirty seasons. And I
want you to also know that my kid played even
though Michael Jordan owned the Charlotte Bob to whatever they
would call the Hornets bobcat right, and he could have
easily put his two sons on a team if he
wanted to own the team but never did that.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Like, that's a feather in his cap, and that's what
this feels like to me. I don't disagree. I think
this is a feather in his cat. I think this
is a scratch that the Lakers helped him itch and
it's the scratch. And I think this is something the
league is embracing. I think the league wanted to see this. Listen,
you've been covering this too long and not understand that
this is also entertainment. Sometimes I think we get to
(07:31):
where we actually they sell any more tickets tonight. No,
I'm asking it's a story being told. Robin not saying
the Lakers don't need to sell they it's the same. Okay,
that's like saying the Yankees don't need stars, or they're
the Yankees. No, you still need story, You need stars,
You need story, and he's not going to be playing.
You keep telling me.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Wait a minute, I'm asking you if you're telling me that,
but you're sitting here saying he's gonna play a couple
of games and then going down.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
To the league. Yes, what is that I'm telling you?
If you so, how is that a story? Happened, because
tonight everybody's tuning in to see this historic moment, the
moment that a father plays with his son, not in
a random game or not on the same thing on
Opening Day. Everyone's tuning in. Everyone's gonna be there, including
the Griffies, and this is gonna be a moment, and
(08:20):
the moment will have been had, and then they're gonna
get down to brass tax and saying, all right, Bronnie,
we need you to go get better, and they're gonna
send them down to the G League, whether it be
tonight or in the next two or three games, he's
gonna go to the G League for a while and
he's gonna get better. And that Lebron and Bronni can
check that box, can say that we did that, we
were able to play together, be the first to ever
do that. What a cool moment. I don't see the
(08:43):
big issue. I can understand what you're saying, with maybe
some other folks are saying, I don't see the big
issue in this because I looked at the list of
the last twenty years of the number fifty five pick.
When I tell you will not know a single name
on there. It is ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
So he got a four year, get fully guaranteed contract.
How many played Opening Night?
Speaker 2 (09:06):
That's but my point is, my point is none of
them does. None of them deserve it. None of them
even really played outside of a year. So I mean
none of them. Like when you look at these names,
I mean, I know the NBA, I love the NBA
and watched I don't know hardly any of these names.
I don't even know. If they walked into me right now,
I wouldn't know. So my point is we got to
stop acting like them taking a gamble on a fifty
fifth pick, doing a favor for the guy Lebron and
(09:29):
doing something cool that the NBA has never seen happen,
and being a part of that for a game or two.
And then he's going to the G League. What's the
big deal? Like, I don't get it. I don't even
believe he's going to the G league. He's not about
to sit there and just be playing every game.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Here's the reason why I don't think so. And here's
the danger. If you send him to the league, you
send them to the G league and he doesn't play well,
or doesn't shoot well, or is getting cooked every night
down in the G League because these kids are trying
to make it and.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
They're like there, yeah, they're ready.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Okay, they're ready go at him every single night, okay.
And and and he's not shooting well, he's the airball
and whatever, misson lea, whatever it is. That doesn't bode
well for him to get back into the league, to
even make it legit. Oh wait a minute, leb Brown's
shooting thirty two percent, thirty percent from the field in
(10:20):
the G League. How can you justify bringing him back
up later in the season. Lebron can make the case
he can learn better from me here, with the coaches,
with whatever, practice against the best of the best. I'm
telling you, I'm not buying that he's going to the
GI He's going to the G League because he's gonna
go down there. He's gonna play against these other young cats,
whether they be just now rookies or guys two three
(10:42):
years in the league competing and trying to get a
job in a spot. He's gonna go down there, He's
gonna develop, he's gonna get better. This is Lebron. He
has his own personal coaches. I'm sure if he doesn't
play well, then is that help. Well, No, it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
No, I think you're the only person who has these
high expectations for him at nineteen twenty years old, who
just came off car ack arrest last year. Nobody's expected
him to be a world beater. So if he's down
in the G League on and off for two years,
who cares? That's what most guys, the fifty fifth pickre You.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Just don't believe that Lebron went through this, got all these.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Just tonight, just just most of the year. Yeah, I
don't believe it. Absolutely. And at the end of the
season the Lakers make the postseason, I don't know. And
then they bring him up and he rides the bencher,
then that's fine. The idea is I wanted to play
with it, and Lebron's not leaving the Lakers, right, we
all agree on that for another couple of years. So
then I got a shot to play with him next
year where he'll play more. This year is about playing
(11:38):
with him. We did it. We did something never done before.
We had a ceremonial game or two. I'll see him
back in March or April. Maybe he'll make the playoff roster.
May see, you don't play in the NBA this year.
Give me your number eight, ish rob G. Where are
you Laker fan? How many over under eight? Or just
told me that you play four or five early and
(11:59):
then come back towards the end of the season and
be on the playoff roster. Mab game.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
You're saying playing as in more than three minutes.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Right, I was saying just on the total gets the game.
Speaker 5 (12:09):
Right.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
You say he's gonna get into eight games? No, no, no,
I thought you might be active on the real roster.
So you're saying he's not gonna get in that. He's not.
He's gonna get into how many games? He'll probably get
into six or something. I mean he's not. He's gonna
play the first couple just to get ceremonial. This is
what we have him here for. How many games? You
got four? Yeah, it's not gonna play a lot.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
I think he plays tonight and then doesn't play again
until maybe end of the season.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Why and then you know they just want to he's
I'm not buying it. I'm just not playing in November.
He's not playing Christmas Day. Stop it. Ro It's gonna be,
This's gonna be. I'm starting for the Lakers. On Christmas Day,
it's Bronnie and Lebron. No, he's not a one shot tea.
Yes it is, but it's not a one shot deal
(12:53):
because he's gonna play next year. That's what I'm trying
to tell you. He's gonna go down the G League
on and off for two years. Know about the.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Lebron's health and his age, you don't know how many
years he's got left A many years. You're saying that
out of the contract, But that doesn't mean he's been
hurt a lot already here in La Bute.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
But that part I can't predict. Yeah, of course not.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
But I'm just saying, if you the odds that he's
been hurt a lot, right, and now he's only getting older.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
You can't sit here and go two years from now
gonna play unless his knee rips off the shreds. Lebron
is not retiring this year. Why are you say retiring?
But I'm just saying next year he's gonna play with
Lebrony again. He's on a he's a multi year contract.
They're gonna play more next year. I think I think
you guys, don't, you're underestimating Lebron. I think Lebron's gonna
(13:39):
get his fixed. We did this moment now and he's
fully aware my son needs to go get better.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
No, that's why he got the coach that he wanted
to say. He wants JJ Reddick to cheat the coach.
He wants Bronny to learn from his JJ trying to
win a championship. Who's the coach down in the U
G League? Nobody even knows who he is. Lebron's gonna
send his kid there to play for that.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Guys, go to give me thousand people plus our own
private coaches, go get better while we try to win
this championship. We'll bring you, We'll high at you in
March and April. We'll bring you back up then.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
All right, eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Do
you have a problem with Bronni playing tonight on Opening Night?
Speaker 2 (14:20):
And we want to get a number.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
How many games do you think Bronni will play this
season for the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
We'll continue the conversation next with you.
Speaker 1 (14:30):

(15:17):
Fox Sports Radio. The odd couple Grumpy Parker, Rod Parker
kelvin Washington talking Tuesday eight seven, seven ninety nine on
Fox were having a conversation about Bronni and bron will
get to that real quick. I gotta tell you, of course,
coming to you live from the Tirack dot com studios. Hey,

and Lebron and kind of where you are with that.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
All right, let's kick it off with Andre in Massachusetts.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports. Ready, what's up?
Speaker 6 (16:11):
Dright, see how you doing?
Speaker 7 (16:14):
Thanks for taking a call. I don't have a problem
with Bronnie James being out there tonight simply because that's
what the league wants. That's the storyline and the narrative
that people are gonna be tuning in to see. And
he's gonna be as big a rating straw I think
as his all time great best of you know, number one,
number two. Everyone to put Lebron James. People want to
(16:34):
see how this experience now.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
People like a train wreck is what they like.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
There are people who are hoping he goes out there
and puts up an airball or two.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
The people love a train and then other people who
are gonna be like, Wow, how cool this is man,
and just this is actually I might not even really
like Lebron, but I gotta admit this is kind of special.
You're gonna get a lot of people who feel like that, too. Goodness.
Everybody ain't gonna be back. Who're going to next, Leo?
Let's go to Leo Leo in New York. You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports. It's up.
Speaker 8 (17:02):
I mean, thank you, kid, but I'm going to need
some stronger pushback because this grumpy old man is a.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
Good driving That's crazy.
Speaker 8 (17:11):
I mean, come on around, let the kid play. I mean,
this is just a photo op. You know, everybody is
out there just to see them play together. I mean
the Griffy, the griff is out there. Griff is senior
and Junior just came to see them film, you know,
on the same course. You want them to do that.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Yeah, they got free tickets.
Speaker 8 (17:27):
I would have gone to exactly. So you want that
narrative to be, you know, done with after the first
game and then we can focus on basketball. We know
that Lakers always start like two and seven and one
and five.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Yeah, tonight, when the Lakers lose to the Timberwolves, there'll
be owen seven and openers.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
During a lebron James. You know, Ronnie might be that
missing piece.
Speaker 8 (17:47):
Hey, you never know.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Leo appreciate the call. Yeah, man, quit me and let
people live, let them have a great time, Let everybody
get this photo op, and then the season will start.
He'll pop back up in March or April, maybe on
the playoff run and be clapping it up as a
thirteen fourteen fifteenth man. Who we got?
Speaker 1 (18:02):
John and Orlando, you're on the eye couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, John?
Speaker 6 (18:06):
Yeah, what's going on? Robert's good man, great grit to
be on board, man, And I love the pushback that
you give. Man, You're like a GRUPI old man. But
we all need pushback.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
No, we might pushback in life, no doubt about it.
Everybody need handing. Everybody and everything's cool, everything fun like something.
Speaker 6 (18:26):
You let me get to my point real quick. There
are two games that are essential that Bronnie James must
play it Tonight and Christmas. He must play in those
two games. It is an attraction, it must happen. And
when you say people want to see Bronnie James fail,
they don't want to see him sail. You want me
to tell you what they want to see. They want to
see Lebron and Bronnie James on a fast break like
(18:48):
how him and Dwayne Wade was Jimmy John. Imagine seeing
Bronnie James throwing the alley? Who do his pop show us?
Forty Savage? Stop playing? Rob? You can't you hate on that?
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Thank you? That's what I'm trying to tell you. That
castle go about. That's well. Now, if Lebron throws it,
Lebron throws it, we're good, Irony. If Ronnie throw it, yeah,
you know we might be a little off right now.
He might look like Daniel Jones out there in the
streets in Virginia on the eye couple. Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Kyle?
Speaker 5 (19:19):
What's good? Fellas?
Speaker 2 (19:20):
What's about hey?
Speaker 5 (19:22):
First of all, Rob, I want to appreciate you for
saying my Nuggets are gonna make a comeback and uh
tell us for the championship because we are, yes, and
we're gonna play the Celtics. Who didn't did him? Looks dangerous.
But he looks you got point to prove from the Olympics,
you know, oh.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
No doubt and boy he bawled out very nice.
Speaker 5 (19:42):
He's anyways, to the point, it's hard to say that
you don't want Bronnie to play because you think about
like you know, high school coach ja v varsity javy
guys good. But he's gonna do nothing playing. He needs
a praise with the marsity guys. That's what they're doing
(20:03):
Bronnie because Bruny athletically has proven he's athletic. NBA good
and there's funny guys in the G League who have
done their thing. But Bronnie in that last game against
the Words. I know the game was out a hand,
but that's how YOUPI called. Shows that he's like as
that you know star stud the NBA good.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
He's undersized guard a lot of people I'm talking about,
I'm just talking about Go forget about fans. Go read
the reports from the scouts and the front office people,
and they all say that he's not ready for the NBA.
And these are people who do this for a living.
It ain't about a sports writer of sports Broy. I'm
(20:42):
talking about people who have done this and evaluated talent
forever in the NBA, and as I'm hard pressed to
find anybody who says that, oh my god, this this
is a layup.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
He should have been.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
He's a great players, going to be a star in
the NBA, a really good player.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Nobody says that.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
Give me that, Give me that space to respond. I
agree with you on that aspect of where he's not
currently ready, but like Calvin says, you know, he's got
to get this time, you know, and the people want
to see it.
Speaker 7 (21:10):
Now.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
You can agree on both points and also say that
we're being realistic here. The people want Like tonight, I'm
gonna go home and I'm gonna turn it on my TV.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Absolutely where you are.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
I guess what you would have turned it on anyway
for Opening Night with the Laker.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
No, you watched it anyway. I mean, this whole idea
just stop. Do you know how many people are absolutely
gonna watch We're gonna watch it anyway. No, I'm saying
there's a new audience who are gonna watch it just
to see this. Oh, let's watch the game. Brianni and Lebron,
Why are you acting new to this? You've been doing
this way too long. Look at that, man, I'm not
dealing with you right now because you already not now.
(21:44):
I just realize you're playing with me right now. You
already know, just because you already know you just doing this.
You know, they add seats to the crypto doc. But
they added they added that were they gonna be empty?
What the seat's gonna be empty tonight? No? Absolutely not
not as thanks, but that's when we may seventeen thousand.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
So let me see this on The tickets for tonight's
game are hired in the Dodgers Yankees World Series tickets?
Speaker 9 (22:07):
Right?
Speaker 2 (22:07):
No, okay? What they got to do with the fact
that this is a ratings driven thing, and you know,
good and well they're gonna get an extra couple of
million people or whatever one hundred thousand people watch him
simply because of his stop playing. You already know that.
I won't even know why. It just got worked up.
Mark Medina, Fucky co Modena's gonna join us.

He is Mark Funky Cole Madina, Fox Sports Radio, NBA
insider Mark g Underscore Medina on Twitter on X and
and this season that's started and see this is you up?
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Brother?
Speaker 2 (22:51):
This is it And maybe he can also be here
to talk some sense in the rod. My gosh, can
we just enjoy a wonderful historic moment in peace? You
hear what I'm dealing with, Mark.
Speaker 10 (23:00):
Rob, I am hanging with the Griffies right now about
to see an amazing NBA moment. What do you think?
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Tell him I loved it when they did it because
it was really organic.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
So that's all. I don't know why that was organic?
This one is it because Griffy Junior was the star.
Who was the star? Mark? Back then? Who was the star?
Was it the father or the son?
Speaker 10 (23:22):
I would think it was both?
Speaker 2 (23:24):
No, it was not. What is the junior win? The
biggest real question? What if one of them is the
star to help make it happen? Why does it matter?
Speaker 9 (23:32):
Now?
Speaker 1 (23:32):
It's supposed to be that way. But let me ask
you this, Mark, how many games? Uh will will Brownie play.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
In the NBA this year?
Speaker 7 (23:41):
What?
Speaker 2 (23:42):
What do you think will be the over under number.
Speaker 10 (23:44):
For me, well, I don't think it'll be anything greater
than eight.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
And that's what I said.
Speaker 10 (23:50):
Why is the reason why is next month in a
few weeks is when the Chilie Calender will start, and
that's where he'll be spending I think the majority of
not all the time, this upcoming season. But until then,
you know, maybe there'll be a few moments here or
there during mop up duty, you know whether the Lakers
are up by a lot or down by a lot,
(24:10):
and then there's rare short moment that Brawny and lebron
will have.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
That's what I mean trying. I'm not buying that.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
I think that if you put Bronni down there in
the G League and he doesn't play well, it'll be
harder for him to get back.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
To the NBA.
Speaker 10 (24:25):
Oh, I don't think he's going to struggle so much
that he's gonna not be played well in the cheer league.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
I'm just selling.
Speaker 10 (24:34):
But there's guys so much different.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Right, But there are guys down there looking at it
as their chance to go at him.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
And and that's what he's this guy like he's some
windy or something. He's not coming away with any expectations.
Speaker 10 (24:48):
That that is a fair point that guys are want
to want to be able to go after him. But
I think the obvious thing that he'll have to his advantage.
I'm like his time with the actual Lakers is he'll
be able to keep playing minutes and develop, you know,
and we'll see what his actual feeling is that looks
in all seriousness, I'm not paying Brownie as a player
that's going to be an All star or even a
(25:11):
rotation player to his career, but you know, he could
be an end of the bench guy if he just
continues to work hard. But I do validate kind of
Rye rolling at the circus here because pregame, JJ Reddick
you know, said it has to be with the flow
of the game, nothing's predetermined.
Speaker 6 (25:28):
Has to make sense.
Speaker 10 (25:29):
But he said the same thing in the preseason open
or preseason game when they played together, and afterwards Brownie
was saying, yeah, JJ gave Lebron and I heads up
about it's a weird reparent know, and here's and here's
the other thing. Guys, Uh, the groupies are in town.
They're not going to be in town not to see this, right,
(25:50):
And remember when Lebron James broke Kareem Abdul Jabbar's scoring
record two seasons ago. He admitted afterwards that he was
intent on breaking the record. Uh not uh not just
because he felt like you could. But he had a
bunch of family and friends visiting that we're going to
be flying out the next day. So if he doesn't
(26:10):
do it, then they're not going to be able to
witness this. So it's inevitable. We're seeing it tonight. But
I don't think it's gonna be anything more drastic than
a minute or two because of the regular season game
and the preseason when I played four minutes they got outscored.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
No, completely agree. I still think I think it's a mockery.
Oh my gosh, this is so far. It's a mockery
of the of the league.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
It really is.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
It's one.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
This is a sad moment for the NBA that has
turned into the WWE NBA ain't nobody.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
That's what we all say, all right, Mark, Mark, So
let me get to the actual game. Let's talk about
you got the new little Timberwolves with Julius Randall no
longer Carl Anthony Towns. Anthony Edwards determined to really just
continue to elevate his game, and you got the Lakers
who didn't really make any big moves. They kind of
resigned some of the same guys. Uh, what do you
think of this Laker team? I think the league hasn't
(27:03):
been like fifteenth some of the polls and an NBA
as as a whole. Where do you think it is Lakers?
And what do you expect to see tonight with against
the Timberwolves.
Speaker 10 (27:12):
Yeah, well, picture I expeck with the Lakers is that
similar to last season they'll be. They'll have a chance
to make the playoffs either as the sixteed for the
playing four of it, but I think that's their ceiling.
They're not going to get past the first round. I
think that they could be better than last season only
because they have more continuity and gave Vinton Is healthy.
But their role players only have a certain level of
(27:35):
feeling that they can reach. And that's assuming that Lebron
James Anthony Davis are going to stay relatively healthy as
they were last season. That's not guaranteed, but I think
they'll at least be better than last season because of
what I mentioned. I think JJ Reddick, because of his
lock to the least make better in game adjustments and
relates to the players will neild net improvement. But the
(27:56):
Wild Wall West has gotten so much better it's.
Speaker 8 (27:58):
Not going to be.
Speaker 10 (28:00):
Enough for them to make a significant run. So as
I came to the Night, I give it to the Wolves,
even though it's still a work in progress for them
for try to mitigate Carthon Town's absence. Anthony Edwards is
a great star, and Julius Randall, even though he needs
some more time to figure out the Kings with Rudy Gobert,
it's not going to be the same effective pairing as
(28:22):
it was with Carthy Towns, but I think eventually it
will be. There'll be some more spacing challenges. I don't
think there'll be any personality clashes. So with that, I
see the Wolves being able to get to the second round,
but not anything beyond that. But it's only because there's
just so much Harry in the West and better teams
with Oklahoma City and Dallas.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
No doubt on the Celtics have a minute to go
to beating the Knicks one thirty two to one oh nine.
They've made twenty nine to three pointers. In fact, they
missed their last ten like, think about that the Celtics,
Why should we.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Not think that going to get back to the NBA
Finals from.
Speaker 10 (29:02):
The East rough everyone thinks that. I ask a few
gms and assistant coaches before the season started, and they
didn't say it's like the Golden State Warriors when Kevin
Durant was there, but they felt like, yeah, the Boston
Selish are the favorite unless there's a major injury of
paying their core guys. They're running it back. And while
you know injuries can't happen to anyone, it's unlikely it's
going to happen to the Celtics because Jason Tatum, Jalen
(29:24):
Brown and the rest of their core with Derek White
and Drew Holliday, they're all in their prime and they're
all pretty durable. Obviously, Chris tops Porzingis has an injury
history and that's not guaranteed, but he's a third fourth
option that his health and effectiveness isn't going to fundamentally
change their titles.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Test Hey, Mark, real quick, we want to get one more.
Give me a team or a player that you're keeping
your eye on for that you think is going to
make a rise this season. This is their season. A
team to make some noise or a player to make
some noise.
Speaker 10 (29:52):
Well, he hasn't come out of nowhere. But I say
Jay Jojes Alexander with the Almos City's Under only because
I think he's gonna win MVP. I think the Thunder
going to get to the NBA Finals. And we've seen
Shaye continue to grow ever since weren't going the Clippers
traded him to the Thunder and made that Paul Georgia
trade look more and more regrettable. But this is his
(30:12):
moment where he can lead the Thunder to a deep
playoff push because of just how complete of a team
that they have, and he knows how to play an
elite level on all sides of the wall.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
You disappoint me, Mark Funky cole Medina because you the
answer was supposed to be Brownie James right there, and
you didn't say it.
Speaker 10 (30:30):
You really, I can neither confirm nor deny that at
halftime they're going to raise his jerkey up in the
rafters right.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Already, Well, Magic Johnson's already given him so much love.
Magic you know he did that to Lonzo Ballangelo. Yeah,
he does know that before Bucky co Medina, Mark Medina.
Thank you so much. We appreciate it.
Speaker 10 (30:48):
Man, appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Guys. Wanted to show him some love, some more, but
he didn't bring us our cheesecake. That's right. I didn't
want to call him out, you know, but he didn't
bring us our cheesecake. Last call, Hey nine on Fox, No,

last call? Hit us up on that. It is the

Speaker 2 (31:35):
It is time for last call.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
It's last call, last call time on the Odd Couple.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
All right, that's right, let's do it. We got Aaron
aa aa Ron, what's up, Aaron? What's up? Your last
call on the Odd Couple?
Speaker 6 (31:59):
Yeah, Man, I told to you guys last Friday about
the Clippers.
Speaker 10 (32:02):
Today I want to talk about the Raiders and Tom
Brady as a real.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
Maybe putting some putting his fingerprints on this team.
Speaker 8 (32:10):
And you think mister Davis will maybe step aside a
little bit and let him do his magic.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Yeah, I don't actually think Mark Davis is one of
those guys who like, like, no, no, it has to
be my way. I think he absolutely is gonna fully
embrace Tom Brady and fully and Brady, and he's already
said it. I want Tom Brady to have his imprints
on this team, handprints on it. So I think he's
gonna embrace tom Brady's help. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
I mean, I think it sounds good. Tom Brady never
put together a team before. I saw Matt Millan win
four Super Bowls and everybody thought he was a guru.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
When it came to uh, you.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Know, only won super Bowls all that he was a
disaster as a general matter.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
That's not the question is I'm good. It's who you
think is gonna let him do it.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
But I'm saying that's why you gotta be careful. Just
because somebody was a player, or they had success as
a player, doesn't mean that they can evaluate talent. That's
all I'm saying, so you better be careful about giving
people who have no experience in that business a job.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
That's that's all I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
I hear you.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
But when you're Tom Brady or if you're Lebron James's son,
you're gonna get opportunities. And that's you know what I mean.
I just think you're gonna He's absolutely gonna get that.
Uh that what I'm saying. It could be a mistake. Yeah,
all right, I appreciate the last call, Aaron. We appreciate that. Man.
All right, we got a few more minutes left for
getting excited. You got the big game. The Celtics just again.
They demolished the Knicks. I think you did well. And
(33:32):
you know you got some little, you know, little pikety
picks out here in the streets. Oh man, are you kidding? Yeah,
you're I'm back, baby. You had to go out there.
So the over under for Browny is negative two points.
I got the under. That's what I'm talking about. Man,
This is about to put me under that I put
me under anesthesia something. I can't can't take the number
(33:53):
he actually does he have a number. I thought they's
gonna be a problem.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Better something get it out with ten year, ten day
or twenty day contracts. Can't get prop Oh wait a minute,
he's got a full respect on his money. He's got
a fully guaranteed hold on rob g jump in.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
All right.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
So these odds can vary depending on where you get it.
But Bronnie James odds versus Timberwolves in his NBA debut
tonight over under set at half a point. It is,
I'm taking over the that's actually plus money if you
go over. The heavy heavy heavy favorite is under minus
one fifty seven.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Yeah, I'm going over. I would go under that. I mean,
that's just one bucket. That's just one or one or
two free throwadings. You don't but you don't know if
he's going to be out there. You don't know how
many times.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
I'll tell you what though, if you really gonna get up,
if you really want to make money, these are the
odds you want to bet for Bronnie Okay, to score
five or more points plus three thirty, to make at
least two three pointers plus five.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
That's just to win one hundred bucks. You gotta put
a five hundred, right, No, he lost.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
The opposite You bet one hundred to get five hundred
to get he's got to get two of them, two
of them to get two assists. Now, no, I'm not
going to get to assists plus five hundred.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
He might get two assists now I'm listen on the NBA.
That's that's what he's gonna He's gonna get a bucket
because he's gonna get a steal or fast break.
Speaker 4 (35:24):
So okay, how is he gonna get his first buck
You can also bet on that.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Oh wow, okay, uh to It'll be a fast break,
as I say, fast breaks, free throw, gold, layup, dunk
or other. They don't have to be a he's getting
a layup plus two ten. Yeah, he's getting a lay up.
You're not, but plus not nine to one odds for
a dunk. I was paused because my layup might be
(35:48):
a good I.
Speaker 4 (35:48):
Told you during our last commercial break that if jj
Reddick is really worth his salt here and he wants
to make a show with this thing, draw up a
great draw a brownie to get I'm a dunk from
Lebron James. Twitter would break would have to sell it
because it would just shatter in a million pieces.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Rob wouldn't come in tomorrow I'll come in. Let me
tell you something.
Speaker 9 (36:10):
Everyboddy gets one good play. Come on, if Ronnie goes
like twenty four tonight, it was fixed. Adam Silver called
on the teams. It told him Brownie has to score tonight.
You know you ring stuff up so you can't try
to win either way. You know that, right, I'm not
worried about it.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
If Bronnie comes in and drops thirty, you're gonna be like,
oh ron You're not gonna be like oh man. You
know he just played well. And if he drops zero,
you're gonna I told you about You know you do
that right. You set it up so you're good either way.
You can't even can't even.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
If he plays bad, it's because he's terrible. He was
fixed in the NBA. You had a four on the ball.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
He saved that for tomorrow. That was good. I don't
know why you just gave him one. That's all right,
It'll be all good. I'm gonna sleep either way. I'm
not expecting fireworks. I'm expecting there. It is right there.
The Griffyes, you got the showing the shot of the
Griffies and the James is hanging out. Look a Kidgrit's
when I did, when I sweated, back to when I
ran to make that catch, I ran his luck. You
(37:11):
know what, my kid is in the Hall of Fame,
a lebron. My kid made it to the Hall of
Fame because he was that good. Dad didn't make it.
And King Griffy is like, wow, man, that is your
dad's one of the greatest full times. My dad wasn't
no his my dad. He's being right back to the
Hall of Worship wins. I need Jesus.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
You have to buy his way in
