Speaker 1 (00:27):
Radio, Welcome in our number three of the Odd Couple.
On a trash Talking Tuesday, Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington.
We just had a spirited trash talking We're broadcasting live

Mark Funky, Cole Madina, Cole Madina, that's right, Fox Sports

(01:14):
of course Radio NBA Inside, we'll talk some hoops.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
The Lakers aren't I guess gonna win every game? And
me rolling I guess right. I mean, first of all,
JJ Reddick, the greatest coach of all.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Time exactly and all that and uh, Bronnie James is
gonna be an All Star and me, hey, you know, we're
having fun with joking.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
But one thing I gotta give that was who was
who said he's gonna make the All Star team? Somebody
for real said it?

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah it was bad. Wait, like seriously, Sean King. Didn't
he say like it was Sean King?

Speaker 2 (01:40):
But he was serious or he said at some point
in his life's like in a few years.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Oh, I well, you know what if I'm and I'm
being dead serious here because of his fan vote, I
could see that happening fan vote, but it won't be
based off the merit of like, yo, that dude's really
an All Star, you get what I'm saying. So, like,
if there's some fan vote, that just goes crazy, because
obviously he's got a billion followers.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Even if he never went the NBA, he'd already had followers.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Maybe there's a possibility in that regard, but just actual, like, yo,
who are the twelve best players in this conference?

Speaker 2 (02:14):
This conference? And no, no, that's you know how many.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Times Mike Conley was an amazing player, you know for
most of his and it took him it's like sixteen
years to be in holl Star. It's so hard because
sometimes you get where there's a bunch of guards or
a bunch of big men. If you're a big man,
you're like, man, I'm never gonna make it. Like Damian
Lillard doesn't have as many as he probably shoul because
he couldn't get it. No, no way he'll get it
all Star. Sean King was tripping on that. I think

(02:37):
he was tripping. I was glad I wasn't doing that show.
Yeah that we both gone that day.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
That's what happen. This will happened, y'all. Let that, y'all.
Let that happen when we're going rock see. I mean,
that's what happened.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
They ran a monk, right, it was crazy, all right,
speaking of running a monk. Yeah, I think the Dodgers
are getting going off base and going crazy.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
They won the World Series. They beat the Yankees in
five games. They have a lot of reasons to be excited.
This team has had a lot of failure, you know,
like the Dodgers their history, like anybody knows anybody know
what the nickname of the Brooklyn Dodgers was.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Anybody know the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
You know what it was Dodgers, No, dim Bums, d
E M Bombs because they always lost to the Yankees
or in the postseason.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
No really, that was their nickname.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
And then the paper you google it dim Bombs were
the Brooklyn Dodgers because they dim Bums lost again?

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Em Bumb's Is that why they came.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
To lah because they wanted to build a new Dodgers
Stadium in Queens.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Uh, that was part of it.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
But you get My point is that they've had a
history of losing, so they win this world.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
Did you decide the Brooklyn Dodgers them bums with the
current twenty twenty four champs.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Yeah, no, I'm talking about the history of the organization,
like winning eleven of twelve division titles and only winning
one up until this year.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
That make it two.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
And my point is there have been more years where
last year they lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks, never led
in that series. The year before that they lost to
the Padres, and in in twenty nineteen they were up
to nothing to the Nationals. They lost the next three
games and got lost that series. That was a year

(04:30):
people thought they were gonna go I'm just giving you
like they've had a lot of you know, success, but
then they always wind up losing in the postseason. So
my point is that they've won this World Series and
now they're feeling themselves, like ripping the Yankees and ripping
their players and saying like calling them names and all this.

(04:52):
And Joe Kelly, who I don't remember doing anything in
the World Series that I'm missill well, but that's what
I'm saying, don't. Yeah, I'm moments for them. But he's
like the biggest talker. And Rob g he was on
a podcast, right, and uh, here's Joe Kelly. To picture
Joe Kelly for the Dodgers ripping the Yankees.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
We're saying every single game, just let them throw the
ball to the infil they can't make a play. I mean,
you saw show I got an extra base going.

Speaker 6 (05:16):
A third on sloppy glabor play. It's it's it's well known.
We all knew.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
I mean, we're the Dodgers.

Speaker 6 (05:21):
We know every little detail. It was a fun series.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
I mean, they almost almost snagged a couple of wins,
you know what I mean. But I mean, if if
it was like it was like the NC double a
like basketball baseball, hockey or football. I mean, like it's
it was just a mismatch from the get go, Like
we had to playoff reranking like they might be ranked
eighth or ninth best playoff team, you know what I mean,
Like you're putting the Podgers ahead of them, You're put
the Phillies ahead of them, You're putting the Mets ahead

(05:44):
of them, You're putting the Braves ahead of them. And
the Braves just got unlucky because they had.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
To play that doubleheader you're putting.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
I mean, the Guardians played like crap, but the Guardians
played better, better, the better baseball around. Like there's it
was just a complete mismatch. And it's kind of the
same feeling from two thousand eighteen when we had.

Speaker 7 (06:00):
To go play the Dodgers, Like the Red Sox were
just the.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
Way better team.

Speaker 5 (06:04):
So all we knew is that we just had to
play regular Dodger baseball.

Speaker 6 (06:06):
We didn't to play out of our butts.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
We don't have to do anything crazy, and we're gonna win.

Speaker 7 (06:10):
The World Series.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
It's facts, like look at the team.

Speaker 6 (06:13):
Look at the talent.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
RE ranked the teams and they're ranked eighth and they
played against the number one seed.

Speaker 6 (06:17):
So, like I said.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
Everyone knew we had we We go through numerous scouting reports,
videos like hey look at this is lot we play like.
I mean, we pay attention to every single detail. You know,
we have a lot of big superstars in our clubhouse.
But the superstars also care.

Speaker 6 (06:32):
And aren't lazy and play hard.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
So that's the difference in the biggest separator, ble.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Brett shots fired.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
You know what I love about it because this is
what we want in our sports mind you, we kept
calling this a rivalry, but they hadn't played each other
since nineteen eighty one, So this is how rivalries are brewed. Right,
This is how real like not rivalries because it had
happened in nineteen ten. No, right, I have a read
right now because they ain't played each other in the

(07:02):
World Series is nineteen eighty one. So now if it
were to happen again next year or maybe you know,
it takes another year or two, but it starts to
brew up, this is how it happens.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
So I love it.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
Now, going back to your point about them struggling a
little bit, this is why they are talking big smack
and having fun and talking about fat Joe because people
have downed them for winning.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
People have downed them for getting close. People have downed
them for.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Making it to the World Series a couple of times
before they won it and losing, and we all know
what happened with the Trashtros, I mean the Astros.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
So I think they're flexing their muscles now like they've always.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
Been very calm and just you know, and well, we tried,
and we play hard, and we'll have to go out
there and play harder and figure out things in the offseason.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
They normally are that.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
I think they finally had enough of that, and I
also think that's why they were gonna win. I told
Robb g I told you that from the beginning of
the postseason they I like this approach.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Talk a little smack, get a little crazy, let them
hang a little bit, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
You don't have to always be the most in profession
on methodical and intentional in this and this. Go out
there and have some fun, talk to smack. You need
some Joe Kelly's on your team, some Taioscar her Nandazzilion
team even show Hevy, you know, flexes out there a
little bit. I like this version of the Dodgers I
don't like when they get to business liking you know,
in there, even in their losses or wins.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
We just got to stay even keel, show some emotion.
I like it.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
People been talking smack about you for years, talking about
all your wins are good enough. Going to the World
Series ain't good enough. Winning in twenty twenty wasn't good enough.
It didn't count because of this man. I'm talking big
ish and I like it, and I hope the Yankees
heard him want it and get mad.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
I wan, did Joe.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Kelly do in the World Series? Can you give me
a staf hold on, hold on, let's hear it. How
about nothing?

Speaker 4 (08:42):
He didn't even play, didn't don't respect the monigators people.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
But Joe Kelly to say that when he didn't even
contribute instead that that's the part that is so lame
that he's talking about. He didn't They didn't even need him,
Joe Kelly to win the World Series and he wasn't
a part of it.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I know he was on the tee.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Okay, like that's the last guy who should be throwing
arrows at people. And the other part is all of
this talk about the Dodgers was warranted because there's no
way the Diamondbacks should have beat them last year, where
they didn't even never let in this series. It just
shouldn't have happened. Had way too much talent. The year
before they beat up. I think they beat the Padres

(09:25):
like seventeen out of twenty one, and then they lost
the playoff series to them.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Again, they totally dominated during.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
The regular season, so those things were all warranted and
it's just win with some grace, win with some grace,
because I didn't hear anything like if Joe Kelly was
really that dude, he would have said all of this
before the World Series.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Well, he's the one guy that done.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
But before the World if I heard this stuff, they're lazy.
This is gonna be a whitewash. They're stars over there, there,
this and that. Now you got my attention. If you
do that before and then it comes to fruition, anybody
can be after the fact talking smack after it's all over,
I don't respect that.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
I think it's lame. Joe Kelly, to his credit and
Rob G, I mean, you guys know this. They got
t shirts made of him making the face, you know,
doing all this, and he's always into something. Time He's
one of the few players on the team who does that,
who participates in the smack talking and talking trash, and
you know, he's there for all the smoke. And I
like that because you cannot have a team without a

(10:28):
few guys like that. Somebody got to get in your
own teammates ear like, hey, man, come on, you know
who you are.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
We better than a New Boys suck. Let's go.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
You need that on a team as much as you
need some even kill guys and some super professionals. You
need a couple of guys who were ready to go
out there and get into a brawl and get out
there and let him hang a little bit.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
And I like that.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
So for me, I don't mind a little trash star
because now the Yankees like what a word? That's what
he said, okay, and I do. And also it turns
me to a question, you'd watch you watch a little
you know more than me. You maybe keep up with
the Yankees more. Were they sloppy throughout the season? I
mean asked a legitimate question like were they more known
to be? Not as Aaron Judge.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Aaron Judge made his first errant ever, So but I
as question, Yeah, yeah, I mean, there were misgus or whatever,
but they also played and made some plays and stuff.
Sure it was magnified because they all came in one
inning like the Aaron Judge thing is.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
Like totally out of left field that inning, which is
crazy man at the documentary on that inning, right, it's
coming for sure.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
But let me let me give you. I just wanted
to give you everybody, no about dem bums. Okay, dem
Bums was an informal nickname for the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball
team from nineteen thirty seven to nineteen fifty seven. The
nickname came from a cartoon by a sports cartoonist Willet
Mullin that depicted circus clown as a hobo named the

(11:50):
Weary Willie, and the cartoon response to a camp driver's
comment to Mullins about how the Dodgers were doing, and
he said, dim bum are bums, and that was because
they always wound up losing his sash.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Well, they ain't the bums no more.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
No but but but the idea and the uh, the
idea of trashing the Yankees after the fact by Joe.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
I just think it's tasteless. You won the World Series,
you weren't even a big part of it.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Like like that if this was coming from Mookie Bets
or somebody, I could I could respect it a little
bit more, you know what I mean, because at least
they did something in it. But for Joe Kelly not
to do anything, it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
And I will say this, this is what happens.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
We talk about it when you get these podcasts, like
you're gonna get guys on because you can't always get
a Mookie or Show Hey or Freddie Freeman, right, so
you get the other guys. You get a Kyk, you
get a Joe Kelly, you might get a uh, you know,
Blake Tranning trying, who wouldn't say anything. But you just
get these other guys on the team, and then they
say something that because they're talking to you and they're

(12:57):
feeling themselves and had a couple, we got the mics going,
and then it gets out there, right, it starts with
it spread and now you got Rob Parker and Kelvin
Washington having a conversation about it as well.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
But yeah, I just I don't mind it a little bit.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
I like a little trash talking In My Sports eight seven,

a conversation about the Dodgers, specifically Joe Kelly been talking
to Smack, which he is known to do, talking big
trash about the Yankees, talking about their fundamentals as a team,
the organ to play, and they knew they were gonna
beat him, and it wasn't nothing to it. They were
outclass playing the Dodgers. You like him talking Smack. You say,

(15:06):
it's the classest thing, win with some class.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
What do you say? Eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox Who we got all right?

Speaker 1 (15:12):
Vic in Los Angeles, you're on the coming up back
sports radio?

Speaker 2 (15:15):
What's up? Vic?

Speaker 6 (15:17):
Hey?

Speaker 8 (15:17):
What's up? Kevin?

Speaker 6 (15:18):
Hey? Rob?

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (15:19):
Are you you know?

Speaker 8 (15:21):
Rob? The only one the reporter that has zero objectivitous
You wouldn't skip. You know damn well that the whole
baseball world has known that the Yankees are horrible base
runners and no one thinks of defense when they taking him.
I almost threw up when I've seen Judge catch that
ball against the wall, because that's nothing I expected.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
What are you talking about? He's only made one error
in his life in the outfield. Stop.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
You can't use Judge as a reason. Come on, Vic, Vic.
We just gave you facts, not feelings. I get that
you're a Dodger fan.

Speaker 9 (15:52):
Vic.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
No, no, be.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Quiet, stop it stop stop stop no no, no, hey, hey, okay,
I'm trying to tell you can't use Judge as a
reason because the guy doesn't miss balls in the outfield.
If you want to go and talk about other things,
but to say Judge who had never made an outfuel

(16:15):
error until Lynn, Come on, man, that's you just being
fan a fan boy.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
It's okay that the base running though, because Stanton, we
gotta work on that. No, they while I know, but man,
you're one to where he need to call you saying
Bolton work on his getting out the blox a little
bit something.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
I ain't saying. You gotta be uh each row with
the speed.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
But come on now, Charlie in Florida, you're in the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
What's up, Charlie?

Speaker 10 (16:42):
Yeah? Man, Hey, what's up? So anyway, Joe Kelly, he
just trying to make itself relevant again.

Speaker 7 (16:47):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (16:48):
Ever since Sat Poudy lived, you haven't heard nothing about him,
all right, right, I ain't gonna lie. I love him, man,
I respected him. That was awesome when he did that.
But you didn't do anything, now man.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Right, you.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Didn't do a thing to warrant all the way. You
know who else didn't didn't. But he was up there
getting crazy on the parade.

Speaker 10 (17:10):
He didn't talk about the I'm gonna be I'm gonna
be a hunted with you. I'm a Yankee fan, okay, okay,
but I'm gonna be a hunted with you. The only
person on the team that has any right to be
talking to me smack, it's Freddy friggin Freeman, okay, because
he didn't need anybody and it's sad for you say that.
But he beat the Yankees by himself, right.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Because o Tani didn't do anything when you look at the.

Speaker 10 (17:32):
Numbers, Conny didn't do nothing. But he's got a torn
labor I mean you got him something for stepping in
the game with a torn laborer.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Oh yeah, to stay in because I was saying at
the time, I thought he should have at least taken
a game.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Mookie can talk some smack keep.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
Not even mookies and the real that's what they appreciated.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Charlie. You know, man, I tell you what, Mookie is
one of my top five.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Boy I wish never seen him trash or say anything.
And that makes me mad because the real Mookie. Yeah,
but he's man.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
That's why. That's one thing about baseball. Just smart drives
me crazy. But come on, now, you've been in clubhouses
baseball players be in there lit while crazy talking.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Smack and it's soon as the microphone cup. Well gee,
I just.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
You know, uh we we played hard and yeah, uh
well we gotta you know, work on my swing and.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Man say something.

Speaker 11 (18:26):
So you must hate Patrick Mahomes like with a passion,
thank you, because he doesn't say he does he doesn't
it on the field all the mid up moments, He'll
be back and forth. It's like we got to respect
on our opponent. You know, they play hard. Both really
answered this question.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
Brady gee will John Brady was horrible that, which is
why we were all blown away. Once he got away
from uh Bill Belichick, We're like, oh, he's got a personality.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
The only I get what you're sam Rob.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
The only reason why I feel like it's a difference
between Russell Wilson and Patrick it is because Patrick mahonmes
we all feel like it's kind of tough che like
I'm just doing.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
What I'm supposed to.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Russell Wilson, you feel like legitimately, like dude, like it's
okay to say something every now and again.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
You know, you gotta come out here and you gotta
go go hawks.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
Like Patrick Mahomes. I know for a fact it was
like this, this is how it looks.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Get what y'all what now? What? Hey?

Speaker 10 (19:17):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Like I know he was just talking big smack. You
get what I'm saying. So I know he's putting on
a little bit.

Speaker 11 (19:22):
So you like the the Lamar Jackson style, like he's
a man of a very few words. What he tells
you exactly what.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
Yeah, And I'm not saying every time you get in
front of him, you gotta say something crazy. But like
baseball players in the middle of the contrast when you're
around them, and then like they hardly Like.

Speaker 11 (19:42):
There were people who got upset at Lamar and not
the minority of people, but were saying when they asked
him about Derek Henry possibly breaking two thousand yards, like yeah,
I think he could do it, and they're like, oh,
he's already saying that. They're that confident in them selling that's.

Speaker 9 (19:56):
It.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
And I just say anything I mean other than yeah,
I think you can do it. Not I'm like, oh, yeah,
for sure, he's gonna run over everybody in the NFL.

Speaker 11 (20:04):
H It was because he's a quarterback and the receiver says,
it's not a big deal of a running back. But
because the quarterbacks, they talk about him in a different light.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Let that. Man, I don't know. I just think Joe
Kelly is the wrong guy. That's all. When you haven't contributed,
that's all.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
But the only thing I'll say is, and I mentioned
but you should have contributed to it. The only thing
I'll say with that is like every even picked the sport,
not everybody can contribute it. I mean he didn't contribute
it at all, but like at a high level, like
somebody the caller was saying, you know, oh man, such
is only Freddy fore me, Like no other people were contributed.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
They just didn't contribute at the level.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
And if you watch the parade, nobody was more hyped
than Clint Kershaw.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
He even said it on the mic. I don't even
do nothing, but I'm hype. He was like going crazy.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
So if you've ever been a part of a team,
I don't mind if you're a part of a team
and you didn't necessarily do the most, but you were.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
You were on the team, and anybody don't have been
on the team.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
You know, everybody plays a role, even if it's just
you're the guy who's defending that guy really hard in practice,
Like that's literally your role on the team.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
I remember in nineteen eighty six World Series, Lee Mozilli
was one of the reserve players and the generalman. They
were celebrating in the clubhouse after with Champagne and Lee Mozilli,
Like I don't know if he got in that bat
or maybe one or two or whatever it was, and
he was going crazy throwing champagne and he was dousing

(21:22):
the general manager, Frank Cashing, and he was being interviewed
and he said on camera, no, lie, he says, there's
always the guys who do the least who celebrate the most.
And I was like wow, because he said it right
on camera.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
I was like, wow, he ain't necessarily wrong. Hey, they
just happy to be there, Like I was looking in
a building. Especially, we got some pictures of when the
Lakers won in twenty twenty. It's some players on the
bronze back I ain't never seen about, Like, wait, he
was on the team, but they're like, ah, why hey man, celebrate.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Shoot. If you get a chance to get a win,
you gotta get a win.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
Fucky Cole Madina, Mark Madeena's gonna jone join us to

Marmandina on the line, but Marmandina on the live, fucking code,
Mark Madino, what is Fox Sports Radio NBA Insider coming
on in live from the tirag dot com studios. Are
you in or out on Dark Knight Man? Are you
with us or are you with Rob Parker on this?

Speaker 9 (22:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (22:26):
I was hearing this segment. I'm trying to process this.
The Dark Knight is the most perfect Batman movie ever.
There was so much hype before I saw it, and
when I did see it, I thought, well, it lived
up to the hype, and then some Rob Parker, I
am disappointed.

Speaker 10 (22:41):
Time.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
You sound like my ex wife, but.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
I want to meet her day right, Hey, Hey, well, Mark,
let's do this. Let's talk about Joe l embiid and
we we discussed it. I told Kelvin the league's gonna
come down on him, and rightfully.

Speaker 10 (22:58):
So.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
You can't get physical.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
You can disagree, have a conversation, yell out a writer,
tell him you don't appreciate what he wrote or whatever.
We you know, Mark, We've all been there. Uh, but
you cannot get physical. And the league did what it
had to do.

Speaker 7 (23:12):
Yeah, one hundred percent. I wouldn't have been surprised if
Who's even a longer than the three game suspension, But
I was anticipating at least one game three games seems reasonable.
And I'm with you, Rob, and look as you as
someone that I respect for not being afraid to give
their opinion. I'm the mind that you know that column
was all fair game when it came to basketball, but

(23:34):
clearly it did cross the line with the personal references
with his family. But while I do understand why Joe
Embid reacted that way, you can't excuse it. And the
NBA had to, you know, react accordingly.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Yeah, because he has the right.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
He has a right to confront him and say, hey,
I didn't appreciate that. Whatever it is, I'm never going
to talk to you again. He has that right, Okay,
he does, but you cannot be physical ever, I just can't.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
Especially the league has to set that precedent because, like
I said, then if you don't, now you get guys
who start to do that, and especially in this era
where you have so many different outlets and guys are
writing the pieces, and then they're gonna be mad and
want to push around everybody. I want to go to
a team that people have high expectations for the last
couple of seasons, and this season alone, I think they're
not what one in six, one and seven.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
The Bucks look terrible.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
You got Giannis didn't play last night, but they but
they tried to beat the CASI didn't Cavs on the
other end, eight and no, But what's going on.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
With the Bucks?

Speaker 4 (24:30):
You're starting to hear rumors that the Knicks might be
interested and then Joelle part of the reason why they
got cat Carlthony Towns.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
What's going on there? Can this be reconciled? Is well
winning fix all?

Speaker 7 (24:42):
Well, it can get reconciled that they're not going to
have a one in six record of the rest of
the season. But as sad as this sounds, none of
this surprise.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
Man.

Speaker 7 (24:50):
When I talked to some people around the league, at
different assistant coaches gms, they all were saying, I'm not
buying the Bucks. Like, even with another year and the
full training camp been Doc Rivers finally finding a full season,
they weren't buying it because they felt like Drew Holliday's presence,
they've really missed him. The fact that the Celtics won
partly because of validated Even if they like the Damian

(25:12):
Loward Deannas Sonte Tokompo pairing offensively, they're not a good
defensive team, and I think there's mixed feelings that Doc
rivers like. There's I think some level of respect for
Doc that he's an experience head coach, he's been able
to manage star players' personalities over the years. But there's
also feelings that he doesn't make the most of his roster,

(25:33):
isn't good with adjustments, doesn't handle adversity well. So none
of this surprises me that they've gotten off to such
a poor start. Again, when I canvas people around the
league about the East landscape, it was the Boston Celtics.
Some teams were high on Phillies, some teams were high
on the Knicks. No one said the Bucks. No one's
really believers in them.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
How about this, let's go here. Everybody was ready to
crown JJ Redding after they started three and zero, and
then they lost it as evisted, And now people got
their panties in a bunch that maybe this team is
not what we thought they might be.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
I don't think people would.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Most people didn't think they were world beatings, but they
got off to a great start. Uh, What what are
your expectations of the Lakers? Because I think they were
inflated after they got off to a good start.

Speaker 7 (26:23):
Well, Rob it wasn't. It was hard not to feel
that way because they were playing in dominant fashion and
Anthony Davis is playing MVP type numbers. They did beat,
you know, legitimately good teams when you're looking at Minnesota
and Phoenix and Sacramento is respectable. But I think obviously
with NBA opening week, it always has a trend of

(26:43):
going down. I think it is disconcerting that they haven't
been good defensively.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Three on the road as well run again one.

Speaker 7 (26:51):
And three on the road.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
One.

Speaker 7 (26:54):
Davis has a left heel continusion. He's less as questionable
for tomorrow's game against Memphis. Now you can't discount that
because of Aighties' injury history, but it is something that
he said he's had this past offseason, even during the Olympics.
I think he can manage it just fine. But I
think to your point, this team is going to be
a team that goes up and down all season where

(27:14):
they have a fighter chance to be competitive, but they
also have a fighter chance to put up some bad
basketball games and as a result, they might get in
the playoffs as a playing candidate, or their season might
end early. But you know what, I think the early
signs tell us this through these struggles, they just haven't
played Brownie James enough. So maybe that go.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Wow, I love that. Let's go here though, and you
mentioned Memphis.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
You know, the Grizzlies have struggled, like like I think
people thought, Okay, John's going to get back, it is
going to be all about basketball.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
The guy's a talented guy. Well what are the.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Expectations for the Grizzlies because it hasn't been a small start.

Speaker 7 (27:53):
Yeah, there were a lot of expectations that was going
to be the exact opposite, not just because of job
Moran and his obvious talent, but when you look at
the very short time that he came back last season,
all of a sudden, they were making a lot of
headway in the standings from last that maybe having an
outside shot to make the play in tournament. But I
think that we've seen here is that, you know, John's

(28:14):
a little rusty. He has put up numbers, but it
hasn't necessarily been efficient. And defensively they've been struggling as well.
So the West is very you know loaded. You know,
I've seen Oklahoma City and Phoenix play it up close
and they've been just really dialed in. I do expect
Memphis to be part of that second tier mix, but

(28:35):
I think these early season returns are showing that it's
just not a matter of plug and play. You got
to establish chemistry again. Sometimes it takes time.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
Last one, Mark, I want to stay in that Western Conference.
Are we writing the Warriors off again? You know, I
lose Clay, They didn't you have a great season last season?
Are we starting to write the Warriors off? And they're saying, hey,
hold one six and one. They you know, they look fresh.
They got some young guys are starting to come into
their own finally in their prime.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
What are we thinking of his Warriors team? Are they
going to be in trouble?

Speaker 7 (29:04):
Well, they could be because they have a guy named
Steph Curry and similar like Lebron James. There's this adage
in recent years as long as either of those players
are on your team in healthy, you technically can't ever
bet against them. I think the question marks with Golden
State was what else do they have? Klay Thompson's gone,
Draymond Green's there, but you know how many times will

(29:24):
he be out because of suspensions? Orange? But I think
here here is what's leaving the Warriors optimistic. Obviously, Steff's
still playing a high level coming off the Olympic gold
medal finish. It's low hanging fruit. No one's thinking Draymond's
gonna suddenly become a choir boy, but they're thinking he's
going to be more available because he just won't put

(29:44):
a guy in a chokeholder punch him. He'll get technical
the normal way with arguing with rests, but we see
more available and because of that, he'll play a good
defensive level. And then the third thing is they have
a lot of good, not great players, but when you
combine it, at least makes or some roster depths. So
they're gonna fluctuate all season. But I do expect them

(30:04):
to make the playoffs, but beyond first round I would
be surprised. But again, as long as you have step
curR on your team, technically there still is a slipper
of hope.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
He gave him Buddy Hills bawling out by the way
for them. He's having him twenty two a game. That's
Buddy Hill. That's a good pickup if you lose Clay Hey,
mark Man, thank you so much, brother. As always, we
appreciate you, Yes, sir, my.

Speaker 7 (30:23):
Man, I appreciate you. Keep Robbin Lyn for me.

But you the man, Man, Well, I appreciate that for real. Thanks.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
I appreciate you. Thanks, listen, listen to the new show.
Appreciate it, no doubt. All right, that was last call.
We're talking about man got a few minutes before we
got to break athletes who you believe could in the
presidency of the United States.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
JJ Reddick, JJ, he's such a genius, JJ Reddick. Oh,
he's got the perfect hair. He does have flawless skin.
I don't know about that, all right, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
I love looking at COVID jump shot too. You have
one more, one more compliment or I was gonna be
a little concerned, like, man, you really do be looking
at Jjick like.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
That his nails are done. I don't know. I'm just talking,
all right.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
Since you got anybody, I got some people I'm gonna
throw at you, Rob g Alex Elijah.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Tell me if you think some of these folks.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
Let's start with the obvious Lebron because he's so polarizing.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
You and I were just talking about it.

Speaker 4 (34:38):
Forty Americans are not going to vote for him right
off the bat, right, but then you got forty who
will just because that I love Lebron rock with him.
Now comes down to that last twenty percent or so,
how are you gonna get You know, we would call
him the undecided so I could see Lebron.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Anybody thoughts on Lebron Rob G anybody has.

Speaker 11 (34:54):
No way, no way, no way? Why not because more
people hate him? I think they love him.

Speaker 8 (34:59):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (34:59):
I don't know if I don't know agree with that.
I think I just think who hate are louder I
would get I would say that.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
I think, yeah, I think that that's true. But I
do think that he rubbed a lot of people. I
just said, ain't voting for him off the rip.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
I agree, But I just think there's also a significant
people who either like him and or who would just
be like who are indifferent and then like want to
hear his what he's running away.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Because it's kind of like the Kanye West thing. Remember yeah,
Kanye was running for president. People like it's something different.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
I'm kind of in, well, that's how former President Trump
got in, all right, Magic Johnson.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
It's because they might not like Magic.

Speaker 6 (35:35):
Rob.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Would you think Rob's pick one? Magic is very likable?

Speaker 4 (35:44):
I don't know, you know, sure, he wins mayor of
l A. Like nobody would ever run up against him.
He would be smoking land.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
Because he's because because he's beloved, but and not.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Just that, it's the philanthropy is his business, and like
people would be like, oh, he knows what he's doing
in that regard, I got a couple more people. I
never thought of him as like presidential like in that regard.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Yeah, but not in a negative way. Everybody's not presidential.

Speaker 4 (36:08):
And I do mean again, did we did we think
former President Trump would be a president years ago? You
know what I mean? You never know less than a minute.
Here we got a rapid fire couple of Tim Tebow.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
No, he's polarizing as well. You gotta kind of be posing,
you know what I mean? Like you like, both of these.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
Candidates are polarizing, which is why it's going to be
like almost fifty percent each.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
He's got the god element, you know he does. He's
got the god element, he's got the looks, he got
the sports, he got version for long term.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
Josh r can't throw football fifteen year old yeh, thank
god he wants to do that no more.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
Some just stay ten yards when he signed autographs throwing
him at rally events. Greg Popovich hopefully he's doing well
health wise. I know he's going through some now, not
even close. Okay, just because you know he doesn't he
doesn't have to look it's too liberal, yeah, too liberal.
It's also old like Biden, I went younger.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
Well, did you see the candidates we had before? Uh President?

Speaker 4 (36:57):
We don't have them all? Now he got one who's
but we almost did. It was a battle of the
A A R P.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
All Right, tomorrow is a worship Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (37:06):
Right, it is a worship Wednesday, gonna be hosted by
Tim Tebow.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
No, hope not. Does that mean you're not coming in? No,
I'll be here Fox Sports for Presidal Man
