forty minutes, one's gotta go Christmas Movies from We're gonna
have like five choices and you're gonna have to pull
one out as far as the favorite all time Christmas movies.
(01:14):
And if you're joining us listening wherever you are celebrating,
driving on your way to see family, friends, coming back,
going whatever it is, thank you. That's why we have
a live show for you on Christmas Night because we
value you and we want to hear from you on
these topics that we're talking about, a lot of stuff
going on. E. From a full slate of NBA games. Right,
(01:37):
the Lakers and Warriors are about to kick off, about
to get started, I should say in a few minutes
in Los Ange.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Is that us in La? Right? Is that they stay
in San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
And then games were earlier NBA game, couple of earlier games,
Nicks and Spurs, Pallas and the Timberwolves, and of course
two NFL games have all been played, the Chiefs beating
the Steelers and the Ravens beating the Texans. So there's
(02:12):
a lot of stuff out there. And from let's shift over.
We talked the NFL and our number one, our number two,
let's talk about the Wemby and the Spurs. They lost
today one seventeen one four team to the New York
Knicks at Madison Square Garden. It was the third quarter
(02:32):
where the Knicks turned it around. He from thirty seven
to twenty five in that third quarter and the Knicks
win by three wimby well impress of forty two points
eighteen rebounds. E. From and four assists okay forty two
eighteen and four Miles Bridges Man Bridges for the Knicks
(02:56):
forty one points forty one. So Wimby was supposed to
be on Broadway the Big Show Christmas right, and Bridges
came through big time with forty one points.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
How about this.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
One rebound and for assists Spurs are fifteen and fifteen,
Knicks are twenty and ten from. What What is Wimby
going to be? That's that's my question to you. We
see the numbers, they're ridiculous. We know what he can do.
He can handle the ball, shoot threes, I mean forty
(03:31):
two points for this cat?
Speaker 2 (03:33):
What is he seven four, seven five? I mean seven three? Still?
Still the kids? Do? Still a kid? He can you imagine?
I mean kid? What bet is he sleeping in at
the hotel? From them? Seriously stack him? It's unbelievable. But
but what is he going to be? That's what I
want to know?
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Do you are you? Is he an all time great talent?
Is he gonna be when it's all said and done?
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Will it be?
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Michael Jordan Lebron Weimby and then Kareem like that?
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Is that where he's headed I'm trying to figure out.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
This is the problem that I'm having right now, and
it's this is a now problem, not a career defining problem.
Wemby is like no one we've seen in the NBA.
He doesn't take advantage of it, especially early in games.
(04:33):
He's a young player who grew up playing overseas, playing
in Paris. Been a pro for a very long time
since he was an early teenager. The problem I'm having,
I'm watching this game. At the beginning of the game,
Wemby's won for seven. He missed six or seven threes,
(04:56):
and the one shot he made was in the paint.
He missed too, he missed a mid range jumper and
the other were threes, and the one shot he made
was in the paint. And I'm talking about He's shooting
thirty five foot three pointers. And in order for the
Spurs to get better and become a more dominant team,
(05:23):
the closer Wenby is to the basket, the better the
team will be. I don't need my seven to three
center taking sixteen to three pointers.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
You already know Larry Brown has he been coaching Wemby
would have a heart attack, am I right?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (05:42):
But this is the problem. It's just he comes down
and he lets it fly.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
I'm talking about.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
No one can can test his shot right like you
can jump out the it doesn't matter. So they're wide
open threes. You always be wide open at seven to three,
whether a defender was on you. You can get that
shot any time you want. But is that the shot
that will help your team, especially early in the game. Now,
(06:15):
I'm a student of the game of basketball. I love it,
I played it, I coach it now. And so when
I see Wimby, who clearly has an advantage on anyone
he had, case in point, early in that basketball game today,
Wimby had the ball in the post and Jalen Bronson
(06:38):
was guarding him. Oh no, excuse me, it was Josh Hart.
Josh Josh Hart was guarding him, and he kicked the
ball out to a three point shot.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Right to me.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
I'm like, oh no, that's no, no, no, I'm calling
time out after the next dead ball. What I'm calling timeout.
That's not the type of basketball we need to be playing,
because what you're doing is you're letting the defense off
the hook. You're not making them stress about how they're
going to stop you. They don't care if you're shooting
(07:17):
twenty eight footers, thirty five footers, thirty foot jump shots, threes,
they'll give you.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
That all day.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
If you shoot sixteen threes and you make six, they won.
And I don't understand why Chris Paul is one of
the greatest screening role point guards in the history of
the NBA. He's made a lot of big men a
(07:48):
lot of money. And so when he does a screening
roll with Wimby, Wimby doesn't roll to the rim. He
screens and it's called a pick and pop. He pops
out to the three point line. I don't need that.
(08:10):
I don't need you to do that. I need you
to dive to the middle of the rim because I
can throw it up and no one is going to
be able to get it. And if both defenders go
with you, then me, the actual three point shooter, will
have a wide open three point shot. If I miss,
You're there to clean it up, get the rebound and
put it back.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
So do you think I hear you and what you're
saying is all logical. But I don't believe that he's
going to change what he's been doing. And the European
style of big guys playing out at the perimeter and
putting up shot and let me.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Say, it will never be as good as he can be. Okay,
And if they did, there's my point. There, there's the answer.
That's what I was trying to get to, and that's
what I wanted to get to. Well, I wanted to
break down I really know basketball, and I got it.
I got And that's why I didn't say anything. You
know what I mean. I wanted basketball. He was no, no, no, no,
(09:10):
no no. He played basketball at a high level. Okay.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
So that's I know, people want to paint you in
a box, but that's not what we're doing here.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Yeah, and that that was my question to you.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
You know, it's funny because you remember dark Old Militich
who was drafted by the Pistons and he was Larry
Brown was his coach, and Darkle didn't pan out for
a couple of reasons.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
The Pistons were good if you.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Remember two thousand and four, and there Rashid Wallace was
in his spot, you know what I mean, like that
he came to it. They were lucky to get a
player of that caliber. You know, a number two was
it's number two pick with a team that you know,
had a chance to win a championship exactly like that
never happens, okay almost never.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
But anyway, my point is he came into the league
too early.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Larry Brown refused to allow him to play that style
of basketball, you know what I mean, Like like, yes,
had he come in the league ten or twelve years later,
he'd be doing what all these guys are doing. But anyway,
my point is with Wimby, Yeah, forty two tonight, forty
two today, forty two eighteen, it.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Has sixty literally right, and they had sixty and probably
could do it on a regular basis.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
But that's what I'm talking about, Like if you want
to talk about all time great and putting pressure on defenses,
so you're for sixty on Christmas, they win this.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Game, right, So you're talking about like like Will, like
he should be the way the way Will dominated when
he had that advantage and they had they had to
change the rules.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Yes, that's the only way Wimby is going to be
that guy.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
He's got to make people go, well, wait a minute,
we got to do we gotta do something that right,
This is ain't fair, This ain't fair.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Listen, the man was sixteen for thirty one, right, Sixteen
of those thirty one shots, he shot more threes than
he did two pointers.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
How that's I don't need that from you.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
He shot ten more three pointers than anybody else on his.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Team, and nobody can stop them. Look at it, Look
at his height advantage and where he is. Who can
stop them at the basket? There no one. But that
is the problem that I'm having with his development today.
On Christmas, we're marveling at the forty two points. Wimby
(11:43):
could have had fifty sixty points like a sixty twenty
five game, because you know what happens when you that
close to the rim, you get he's out of place
to get rebounds because he spends a lot of time
at the three points oh way far away.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
So these are the.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
Numbers where we're looking at me, like, how did Shaq
have fifty five and twenty r.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Right? Those are the things that make you go, oh
wait a minute, hold on.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
And people never like I always remember that, People say, well,
all Shaq does is dunk and why wouldn't.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
He Please tell me why you would he remember hearing
that all that was the dumbest thing dunk?
Speaker 2 (12:25):
No, yes, because nobody can stop him. Why would you
not dunk?
Speaker 1 (12:30):
I just you can't walk to the perimeter and shoot
like like what.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
No man, get the ball in there. Put the defender
into the rim. Put them in the rim. Now Wenby
has to get stronger, right, his lower body has to
get stronger.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
But still there's a toothpick. You can't.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
Yeah, but you can't let you can't let a guard.
You can't let Josh Hart stop you from scoring in
the post. I can't have it. I can't have that.
All right, that's that. Then he makes himself just like
everybody else.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine, we'd love to
hear from you on this Christmas night, and we saw
Wemby with the forty two and the eighteen rebounds. Uh
Ephraim says, hey, he's gonna have to change the way
he plays, not shooting so many threes in order to
(13:28):
beat this uh once in a lifetime top three all
time greatest player in NBA history.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Because you you.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Don't just e from the unbelieve that even with the
numbers he's putting up and what he's doing, that this
is the right way to use a guy of his
talent and size?
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Where are you on Wemby?
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Can he wind up being a top three all time
player shooting threes and playing on a perimeter eight seven,
seven ninety nine On Fox, It is the Odd Couple
on the World Wednesday, Rob Parker Ephrom Salam right.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (14:05):
Stick and stay, or you may catch Santa Claus kissing Mommy.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Tire rech dot Com. We'll help you get there.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
And I'm Matt Selection fast free shipping, free road hazard
protection and over ten thousand recommended installers tire rech dot
Com The way tire buying should be. Ephram and I
are talking about Wemby at forty to wait a minute.
Everybody knows what it's wimb but do we know know
(15:01):
Wemby's going to be an all time great top three.
People will say, Michael, Lebron and Wemby. Is there a
chance of that? Yes, we want to know. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox, Ephraim is not convinced not
playing the style of play that he has exhibited thus
(15:22):
far in his early NBA career. All right, e from
we got people loaded, locked and loaded.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Here we go Dion in Texas, You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
What's up, Dion?
Speaker 6 (15:33):
Hey, what's up, guys? Christmas?
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Christmas?
Speaker 7 (15:37):
Thanks for having me on the show.
Speaker 6 (15:38):
Hey, guys, I got so much to say about this,
But first of all, I want to say Wenby was
the most highly touted NBA prospect since Lebron. They said, well,
let me just say this, Michael Jordan's man. He gave
us that swag, and then you had Kobe had that mentality.
Then you got Lebron, who's a mixture between Lebron and Magic.
Speaker 7 (15:57):
They were just special. Wimby is going out there putting
himself in the same box, which has resulted into like
twenty five percent.
Speaker 6 (16:05):
Less NBA viewership.
Speaker 7 (16:06):
He just going in there, going down, jacking up threes,
and whether he make them or not, I just consider
those bad shots because I just cringe. Even when he
make it, it's still a bad shot to me. I
just cringe when he shoots like that, and there developed
him that way because.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
It's just a bad shot.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
I hear you.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
I know it's not not for a guy of that side.
Like why why are you settling for that?
Speaker 7 (16:30):
Why are you selling for that? And what makes you different? Man?
You supposed to be that dude to do something different, man,
like put your mark on the game. So, no, he's
not going to save the NBA. I think that's a
question you asked a couple of days ago. Nope, he
can't save the NBA plan like that, And he's just
going to put himself in the same box and we're
just going to turn that crap off. So he needs
to do a little bit better, get stronger, and man,
(16:53):
he's behind the power curve. If he's going to be
the next guy to replace the one of the faces
of the league, hes behind the power curve.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Yeah, thank you, my man appreciated. What about Phil in Minneapolis.
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio Merry Christmas,
Phil phil In Minneapolis. We we got you.
Speaker 8 (17:13):
Listen, Wemby, listen, he's gonna play into his contract. He
hasn't played into his body yet. You know, give him time,
you know, look at Lambert was heck of a shooter.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Lambier. We're not Lambier and and Wemby. Is that we
want to do.
Speaker 8 (17:29):
No, No, I'm saying as far as the shooting, the
Lambert could shoot, but Shee Wallace, Cashoe, there's some big
guys who could shoot. So let him get developed that
side of his game. The team's not him. Duncan and
Tony Parker.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
You just but philed you like you like what you're seeing.
Is that's what we're asking you.
Speaker 8 (17:49):
Well, No, to be honest, I'm disappointed in what I'm
seeing because I'm not seeing him take charge like the
previous call of just mentioned. I want to see more
take charge of this NBA. Then he's doing, he's going,
he's going up here, he's doing just enough to bring
people to the crowd, but he's not doing what he
(18:09):
should be doing to keep people in the seats.
Speaker 9 (18:12):
All right, right, but give him time.
Speaker 8 (18:14):
He's a young guy. He's gonna go in through his
body and he can shoot, so once he develops that
part of his game. Watch out for this kid.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
All. I appreciate that. Thanks Phil Dylan in Portland. You're
in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Dylan?
Speaker 10 (18:27):
Hey, guys, Merry Christmas.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
First of all, I just want to marry Christmas.
Speaker 10 (18:31):
Yes, right, I mean if you want to get mad
at anybody or have a dispute. Steph Curry changed the
game with the whole three point shooting, So anybody since
if you're gonna be starting to play basketball, you're gonna
have to learn how to shoot that three pointer. So
even though Winby is a dang twin tower, he's so tall.
Speaker 6 (18:51):
I mean, this.
Speaker 10 (18:51):
Guy how ady, who's gonna block it?
Speaker 9 (18:53):
At three point shot?
Speaker 11 (18:54):
You can't do nothing about it.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
But you can't block the two point shot at the room.
Speaker 11 (19:00):
That's why go three when you Why go two when
you can go three?
Speaker 10 (19:03):
Is that extra point?
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Is because he was six for sixteen?
Speaker 4 (19:07):
Right?
Speaker 2 (19:07):
He wasn't. He was six for sixteen.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
He made sixteen two point field goals and six three
point field goals.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Right, And what he Felm miss saying is he should
be shooting twenty twenty for twenty two.
Speaker 12 (19:20):
Every night, That's that's how you change the league. Right,
you're just souther three Wilt Chamberlain. They have to change
the rule for Wilt Chamberlain. You're seven three shooting threes.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
He's always gonna be open number one because no one
can challenge the shot. Number two. They're not gonna guard
him out there. They want him to shoot. If he's
shooting sixteen threes, that means those are sixteen shots that
he's nowhere near the rims lan you or not, and
he's not able to get a rebound.
Speaker 10 (19:49):
Off of miss I know, I get that also, but
you're forgetting one chief actor. He's French's gonna be physical, Okay,
all right?
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Zilla got every funny how about it? That's what that's
what the coaches for though.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Ye John and Georgia, you're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio on this Christmas night?
Speaker 2 (20:07):
How are you right?
Speaker 13 (20:09):
All right?
Speaker 14 (20:10):
Robbie from how are you guys?
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Great? Thanks for listening on Christmas Night.
Speaker 14 (20:14):
Hey play a comparison Ralph Sampson. I will tell you
Ralph Sampson played in the box a lot more than
Wendy does and he can't play out. Sampson could have
shot out side, but played in the box a little
bit more right. She had a better crier if he
didn't get hurt. That was the problem with him. Yeah,
it's fragile, But Ralph Sampson, I think it's you know,
similar in size and wait and everything else. And Wendy's
(20:36):
got to start playing down low. You have to get
stronger otherwise it's not gonna last.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Yep, we get that. Appreciate that, John, thank you. How
about Steve and Jersey. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. It's a work, that's right, Joys.
Speaker 15 (20:50):
Merry Christmas Man. Oh yeah, yeah, I just want to
add on. I totally agree. I totally good bulking guys,
because well, one being's going he's making a game more
difficult for himself and it should be easy.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
For him, man, Yes, easy.
Speaker 15 (21:06):
For him, and it should be easy for his teammates
defeat offense. And by him being so far from the
room taking difficult shots, he's not getting it that he
should be getting. He should be getting double doubles easily.
He should be he should be out during forty.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
He's right right, and he and he should be shooting
like seventy percent from the field.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
He should literally be shooting seventy five percent from the
field and averaging close to thirty nine points a game
and eighteen rebounds.
Speaker 16 (21:35):
Right, he's not using his gifts.
Speaker 15 (21:37):
He's not using his gift for the Mets, that which
is not going to make a team better in ten years,
fifteen years. He should be looking at him like touching
Lebron scoring if he played the game the way he
played game, an easy way for him.
Speaker 11 (21:50):
That's all I'm saying, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Thanks for the call.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Appreciated eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. If you
want to get in, we'll take it. More calls all this.
He's in the Andre Andre in Massachusetts. Merry Christmas, Drey.
Speaker 11 (22:06):
Marry Christmas. Yes, thank you for taking the call. Thank
you guys for all that you do through the holidays.
You know what I mean, bringing the flavor to this
Christmas Day. And there's certainly a lot to talk about.
When it comes to Victor Wembayama. The comparison is very simple. Okay,
he reminds me of Luel Cinder right at a Power
Memorial UCLA. But you and I both know what made
(22:27):
lu Al Cinder going on to be Kareem Abdul Jabbar distinctive.
How we got the six championships, how he got the
six MVPs. He had an unstoppable move, something that nobody.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Could could talk, nobody could stop Kareem or block that shot.
Speaker 11 (22:41):
Nobody And that's the com and that's what Victor Rembam
is missing hook line and center out there on the
three point line. I think they're using him, so that's
it's not going to be successful in playoff times. That's
not what got Kim Duncan those five championships. Tim Duncan
on the block with that bank shot, okay, and using
his side and his strength is what made him distinctive
(23:03):
and what made the Spurs dynasty unique. So with Victor
winbin Yama, it's nice, it's cute analytics have him out
there shooting all those type of threes, But if he
wants to be a generational and an all time great player,
he's gonna have to use his unique side and get
down on that block and be a little bit more balanced.
Here's I think the secret. They're a little bit scared
he's a little bit of a bubble boy. They don't
want him to get hurt, so he's gonna have to
(23:24):
have the durability in order to be able to play
a more balanced game, to get the championships, to be
who we think he could be. Odd couple, Thank you
so much for being on on Christmas, Mary, Christmas, Happy holidays.
Speaker 15 (23:34):
I'll see next time.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Yes, associate, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
We'll take more of your phone calls eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox, so you can call up. But
first let's get you caught up. Chrispher Rhett is at
the anchor desk. Chris, how are you have?
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Mary? Christmas?
Speaker 17 (23:50):
You and he from and everyone else there is a
wonderful night and from.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
I don't know if you know, but I'm always I
say this every time Chris is doing an update, and
I'm Chris was one of my students at USC.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Proud of CoRIS that he's here at Fox Sports Radio
and what he's done.
Speaker 17 (24:07):
Not only was I one of your students, but I
believe I was a late addition. I was dropping a
class and I just ran into you out of the
blue with two of my other friends. He talked, He
talked me out of a very good, very academic class
to start writing sports columns. And before I know it,
I'm writing about Rashid Wallace for him, and uh, that's
that's that's the whole story.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Howstructor very good.
Speaker 17 (24:31):
He had a lot of good connections. It was I
believe our first year we had in uh Joe Dumars,
which I met Joe Dumars as a kid. I had
gone to a Pistons gain when I was young because
my dad knew Bill Lambier, so it was kind of
meeting him again. And I believe Aaterell Owens stopped his class,
came in on campus. Man, there were so many people
(24:52):
from the sports cluster all stopping into the class like
that's d o d os here.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Let me get a picture with ta.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
And I'm gonna tell you this. He from t oh
volunteered to come into my class. Like I didn't have
to ask him. You heard that I was teaching, said
if you ever want me, let me know, and you
can't just.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Show it me.
Speaker 17 (25:09):
The Rob Parker method is basically to do what we're
doing here on this radio show and then all of
a sudden, all right, now write a column about that,
and then it's just like wait a minute, hold on,
all right, even on Fox, but Chris has update. Yeah,
let's get to everything. So it's the end of the
first quarter for the Lakers in Golden State Warrias is
the twenty fifth straight Christmas appearance of the Los Angeles Lakers.
(25:31):
On Christmas, the game is tied twenty three to twenty three,
coming off of a Dulton connect three point shot to
tie it up there. We'll get more on that as
it as the night goes along. Sixers and Celtics one
eighteen six one eighteen six Ers one fourteen Celtics Tyres Maxey.
This game thirty three points, twelve rebounds. NFL Action has
(25:52):
wrapped up for your Christmas Day. Kansas City Chiefs twenty
nine over the Pittsburgh Steelers ten but homes, three hundred
and twenty yards, three touchdowns as the Chiefs lock up
the first the first place seed in the AFC, which
means that they will probably be resting starts at some
point down the line. Here for Pittsburgh gets a little
(26:13):
less rosy. They have taken three losses in ten days,
and with Baltimore's rollover of the Houston Texans thirty one
to two, Pittsburgh has lost this division lead and now
sits a game back. With the final week of the
NFL coming up before them. Pittsburgh is going to be
playing the Bengals. Baltimore will be playing the Browns. So
(26:34):
it looks very bleak for Pittsburgh to reclaim the division
title and home playoffs going forward. Also earlier, also some
other news here. It is a bit of a sad
day for the NFL Eagles. Linebacker and five times Pro
Bowler Bill Bergee passed at the age of seventy nine.
(26:55):
His son announced he had lost his battle with cancer.
Burgie had announced that he had jaw some sort of
cancer in his jaw back in twenty twenty one. His
last season was in nineteen eighty and he played in
Super Bowl fifteen. And one more piece of NFL news
before we get out of here. In a bit of
a coupe, DeMar Hamlin's Supported Hearts Act was signed into
(27:17):
law today by President Joe Biden. Hearts Act is grant
schools for purchases for automated external defibrillators CPR AED training.
Damar Hamlin, of course, having a cardiac event on the
field during NFL play.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Rob Ephraim back to right.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
That's a good thing, right there, no doubt about it,
all right, appreciated eight seven seven ninety nine. Oh, Fox,
it is the Odd Couple coming to you live from
the tire Rack dot Com studios. More of your phone
calls about wemby Franklin in Texas. You're on the odd
Couple Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 9 (27:51):
What you got, Oh, Merry Christmas, guys.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Merry Christmas. Absolutely quick.
Speaker 8 (27:58):
Monday can shift like one championship, or he can dominate
like Timmy and win five.
Speaker 11 (28:06):
That's kind of the difference.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
I hear you, I hear you. I well say, that's
very good. That's what I like.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
I like the comparisons and what needs to be done.
I agree, Jay and san Antonio. You're on the couple
of Fox Sports Radios. Christmas night. We are live and
in living color. What's up, Jay, Merry Christmas, Mary Christmas.
Speaker 16 (28:28):
I agree with the previous caller. I can't top that
Dirt and Timmy comparison.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
That's a great comparison.
Speaker 16 (28:36):
But but if he did that and then I got
one more common denominator, I had no disrespect to Pop
get backing Hammon in there.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Oh wow, Well, you know what, that's a good. That's
a good. That's nice.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
And I'm gonna tell you this anyway before and I
know pop is sick and whatnot, and I'm not take okay,
but even last year I thought something was wrong, Like
remember they lost like twenty semi games in a row
with Wimby. They were worse last year with Wemby than
the year before when they.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Didn't have them, when they didn't have them. Ye yeah,
I was like, that doesn't make any sense to me.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
As good as he is, Dre and Michigan, you're in
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio on this Christmas night?
Speaker 2 (29:16):
What's up Dray?
Speaker 13 (29:17):
What did you do with you?
Speaker 2 (29:18):
All right?
Speaker 10 (29:19):
Fellas?
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Oh?
Speaker 16 (29:19):
Yeah, man, good good gay, thank good?
Speaker 14 (29:22):
Hey yo.
Speaker 13 (29:23):
Honestly, I think Wenby has an opportunity to change the game.
If he played his back to the basket, that will
force other people to get big. And now you can't
play all that, ye yes, because now we know it's
a reactionary league. Every time they even shoot a three
and miss it, I'd go down a low, give him
his two points. We're gonna punish them every time they
miss it, and I guarantee to change the game. This
(29:44):
man has an opportunity to be up there with the
Steph Curry and le Bron and Michael Jordan.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
And then from seven.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Right, there's no reason why he should be six for
sixteen from three.
Speaker 13 (29:55):
When I watched the game today, Yes, you see how
many times he was if he had just win download
when they had a couple of easy money, he had
to a score to two points. But no, they want
to shoot threes, and that they got back in the game. Right,
I got opportunity. Man, he don't waste it.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
No doubt. Thanks Dray, appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
How about Kurt in South Dakota on this Christmas night
of worship onesday here on the YDD Couple.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
What's up Kurt?
Speaker 7 (30:21):
Hey?
Speaker 9 (30:21):
Rob Parker, thanks for all you do your hard work
here my holiday go.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
To my man?
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Is there always always my man. I appreciate you supporting
the Odd couple.
Speaker 9 (30:33):
Yeah, and your your new partner. He's doing a great job.
I miss Chris, but you know he's doing great, So
that's great.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Thank you.
Speaker 9 (30:41):
Yeah, let's put the physical back in basketball number one.
Come on, and Steph Curry was great. Uh, he changed
the game. But you know, I'll never pay for a
ticket in Minneapolis to go watch the Timberwolves if I'm
going to go watch three point shooting con seven point
(31:01):
three or seven three inch guys, y'all throwing up bombs, y'all.
I'm not gonna do it.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
Come on, I hear you, Kurt.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
I mean a lot of fans have turned on the
league and we've seen it e from with the seventy
five Myssteres like.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
It's too much. It's too much. And now you know
the caller before Kurt was absolutely right. Wimby has an
opportunity to shift the pendulum back the other way. If
he plays with his back to the basket, then you
every team is gonna be looking for Zach Edie.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Everything like, oh my god, we got to stop him
otherwise we won't win anything, or.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
It's gonna be over because he's gonna be getting every rebound.
He's gonna be punishing you at the rim. Once he
gets some size, all he has to do is turn
dunk to basketball. Todd turned down to basketball over and
over again. You're going to force teams to really start
adjusting and then you'll have wide open three pointers for
real other guy shooters. That's exactly right, Roger, last one,
(32:02):
Roger in LA. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
What's up? Roger?
Speaker 8 (32:06):
Hey, happy to be on what you guys for making
my Christmas.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
Happy to have you, Yes, thank you.
Speaker 16 (32:13):
You guys must have old timers.
Speaker 13 (32:15):
The Shack years was terrible with that half of Shack.
Shaq was tired of it.
Speaker 6 (32:19):
Kobe was tired of this.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
They were tired of winning championships. Is that what they
were tired of?
Speaker 4 (32:24):
They weren't tired of it. They were tired of not
getting the calls. They had to change the game because
it slowed the game down right.
Speaker 7 (32:30):
Yeah, we didn't like to see Shack just get fill
fill fut.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
That wasn't even basketball.
Speaker 16 (32:34):
So you guys forgetting the half of Shack.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
So you would rather see winby take go six for
sixteen from three?
Speaker 2 (32:40):
Is that the game you want to see?
Speaker 4 (32:41):
Or would you prefer him to go sixteen for sixteen
from the free throw?
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Which one would you want?
Speaker 7 (32:47):
They're going to hack him up, send him to the
free throw line.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
But he can shoot.
Speaker 12 (32:51):
He can shoot. He's not shocked. He's not putting up
bricks as free throws. He'll go to the free throw
line sixteen times. Free throw he can make.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
He can make threes, but he can't but he can't
make a free throw. Come on, he's a shooter. Come on,
Roger swinging miss, I'm sorry that big swinging miss. I'm sorry.
All right, We love you though, we love you. Thank
you for listening. On Christmas Night? All right?
Speaker 1 (33:17):

Speaker 7 (34:16):

Speaker 16 (34:17):
Here? Funny even number figure.
Speaker 5 (34:19):
It out, gentlemen, It's quite simple. You know this segment,
We've had fun with it. Shout outs to k Dot,
the new guy on the show, obviously taking time off,
that's okay, but you know nobody's gonna ca him out
for it.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
No, no, no, oh, we'll do it tomorrow. But he's back,
please and thank you.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
And also he came up with a fun segment that
he brought over to us, rob that if Ephraim you've
never done this, it's quite simple. One's got to go,
one's gotta go. And so how we host the sephram
is We're doing a Christmas antithesis and basically, I'm giving
you five iconic movies in the world of Christmas, but
we all have to choose one to go. And if
(34:56):
we all agree on one enough, well.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
It's going forever in the universe the game. Yes.
Speaker 5 (35:02):
So how this works again is everybody's going to have
a vote on the show, so you and Robbie from
myself shout out to Shy the producer, and also Chris
for updates. We're all gonna choose. One's got to go.
So here are your five choices. Everybody home alone. Number
one a Christmas story The Grinch. Let's use the Jim
Carry one because he's.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
The class the TV the cartoon okay, perfect?
Speaker 2 (35:28):
What's his name? Them? You know which one? The I
know the cartoon one? That's a class all right?
Speaker 5 (35:34):
So again Home Alone number one a Christmas story, the
classic Grinch, Elf and Scrooge.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
What's what Scrooge? Let's just do Screwge?
Speaker 1 (35:49):
All right?
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Those are your five choices. First, I will go first.
Goodbye Grinch? Really that was safe? Wow? You don't like
that cartoon version of the Grinch? Over Home Alone? Okay? Overscrewged,
Bill Murray, over Elf.
Speaker 17 (36:11):
No Scott Boris Karloff narrating it, No Macula is narrating it.
My goodness? All right, Chris, what you got? Oh? This
is easy Christmas story? Get rid of it?
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Overrated? Awful?
Speaker 17 (36:24):
I don't Here's the thing. I don't relate to it.
And even if I did relate to it, it'd be fine.
But the problem is is that I don't mind that
it is a kid upset about not getting the toy
he wants for Christmas, but that it is narrated by
him as an adult. That is telling me that adult
has not let this incredibly petty thing go from his childhood,
(36:45):
which means he's whack as hell. I don't want anything
to do with the Christmas story.
Speaker 18 (36:51):
Go up, Shay, I'm gonna have to probably agree with
Chris here on Christmas right, not because of but I
just I haven't when it comes to watching something on
Christmas Day?
Speaker 2 (37:03):
Christ how are you? I'm twenty four, That's what I
was about to say. It's it's okay, I'm pretty young,
so that number one.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
You should even have a vote. But okay, yeah, but.
Speaker 12 (37:11):
No, what he's too young to vote on these on
these movies, these movies, I wasn't born.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
It was a negative, negative rouge.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
But no one else, no, no, but he hasn't been
able to experience him.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
You a young person.
Speaker 18 (37:30):
I've seen a Christmas story, but when I think Christmas time,
I don't really think of of that one.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
I think of everything else from literally the only movie
with Christmas in the name in this guy. I know,
but it's just I don't really know.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
I'm going. I know it's it's hard to believe. Where
are you going? I'm gonna do some contrary. I'm gonna
eliminatee elf. Why see why? Because can you can you
believe that I'm being honest.
Speaker 17 (37:55):
I'm being you teach it, you teach at usc you
want to invoke the wrath of Will Ferrers.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
I've never seen the movie. What what it's on? Hold
they have it all the time, on every chance.
Speaker 17 (38:08):
I'm being honest, hold on, hold on you we have
to drop.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
You sit on the throne of lies, Alex. You play
it all the time.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
I've never I've seen like as you flip around and
you see a couple of minutes of it, I've never seen.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Believe, we're a lot about each other today. I wish
I wasn't.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
I'm being honest, though I'm right, I'm not gonna I
could fluff it or make.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
It like it.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Sounds like something.
Speaker 5 (38:41):
I just have a question, how come you have never
been just interested? Like it's everywhere.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
I like Will Ferrell too, But that really hilarious Christmas movie?
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Yeah I do, But that movie just never moved me
to watch. But how can a movie if you don't
watch it?
Speaker 1 (38:56):
No, But I'm saying, like I've seen bits and pieces
of it. I've never stopped and said, oh, yeah, I
gotta see this.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Well, this is going to be interesting because actually I'm
with Ephraim Grit.
Speaker 5 (39:07):
Yeah, I don't know why, because when I've watched the
Jim Carrey rendition, that just to me was last it's
one of his best roles.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Amazing, Oh my god, that is.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
The original cartoon with bars of course, and that.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
Miss Grit.
Speaker 5 (39:28):
That's that's that's cool. But that's a song that doesn't
justify the movie.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
You know, most of the movie.
Speaker 5 (39:33):
Yes, it's okay, like maybe if I was ten, you know,
that'd be cool. But I'm just saying, like, from all
of these movies here, there's no way I'm touching any
of those.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
The Grinch has to go with a ten foot pole
you wouldn't touch.
Speaker 5 (39:45):
Let's do this right therefore, okay, right, you got to
decide now since you haven't seen the movie, you chose
your shoes between the two. You have to get rid
of one, Rob, What are you getting rid of the
Grinch or Christmas Story?
Speaker 1 (39:57):
Christmas Store? There's nowhere let's go. I'm not getting rid
of the that's a part of my life, my childhood terrible.
Speaker 4 (40:07):
Well you know he was a child when it was
just radio, right.
Speaker 19 (40:12):
A radio show. That's all right, Our number three coming up?
Get ready to Ravens. You better be afraid of him.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
I'm telling you, let's go host a good show. Fox
Sports Radio,
