final hour as well. Last call in case you didn't
get a chance to UH. In case you didn't get
a chance to get in on some of the topics,
you'll have a chance to get in UH later on
this hour.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Yes, sir, that was a crazy play.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
I don't know if you got to tell you you
reading I don't know if you saw that another one
of those trick plays the Lions do.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
That's just absolutely Listen.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
You can hate the Lions, but they're an amazingly fun
team to watch.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Is it about being trickery or is it about winning?

Speaker 5 (01:42):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Yeah, that's why they're thirteen to too. I don't even
try it.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
We're talking about you could do all this. Yes, if
they don't win in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
That if they ain't taking care of the business, they
can't yere what matters this year for the Lions winning
every single game?

Speaker 1 (01:58):
No, it doesn't, it does doesn't game don't get back
to the NFC Championship game. This season didn't mean anything.
You know how you don't get to the nfcchamp game.
Do they have to get back to the NFC chair
at the minimum, or do they have to get to
the Super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (02:15):
What is it for the Lions?

Speaker 4 (02:17):
I say the NFC Championship. I get like, that's the
ultimately organization that's never been there. That's why I'm the
greatness that they've because to me, the only thing that
matters for the Lions because they were already in the
NFC Championship game a year ago.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Okay, and people believe that they choked that down, that
they should have gone out. So anything short of that
will be a disappointed reason. Why would you agree or not?
That's all I'm asking you. If they don't, okay, but.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Why can't they enjoy the season you did? Does it
not matter? And I'm saying, I'm just saying.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
They literally have.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Been the most fun to watch. Whether you, let's say
you were a Raven.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Fan, Minnesota Vikings has been the most fun team to watch.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
And guess you don't believe, Yes, you don't believe. I
don't believe you because nobody. You don't believe it. Nobody
expected it.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
That made them fun, Nobody expected like this, nobody's defense
to beat this good still could be If you said
the most.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Been fun, Oh my god, I can't believe made all year?

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Oh yes, you can't say even believable. Did you see
the shower that gave them yesterday?

Speaker 4 (03:33):
That was That's probably the most Vikings football you watched
all year. It was him getting the aquafina shower.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Stop it.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Their lions have been so fun to watch, man, And
that's why so many people love it, even if they're
you know, their own home team.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
They love the stealer. I think it's hard.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
I think it's overblown. When you say that it's like
everybody loves the Lions.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
I just I don't know.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
I just think that's overblown. I think that's Lions fans
who really want to because I got a call the
other day from Detroit and people were they were mad
at Colin Cowherd because he's not on board with the Lions.
And they can't believe that Colin Cowherd's not on board
with the Lion. And I'm like, what do you need
everybody to be on board? I don't understand. No, they

(04:18):
were complaining. People would come high. Can you look at
him and not say they're fun? Nobody said? They were
world talking about the idea that everybody has to be
on board.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
That's all I'm saying. You got fun, you got you got,
you're enjoying it. The Phoenix, the Steve Nash Era, they
didn't want anything. Well, they were fun right there. They
played they want a bunch again. Their fun and the
Kansas City Chiefs the first you know a few years
of my homes absolutely fun.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
So why can't people just enjoy it?

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Man?

Speaker 4 (04:46):
I'm a I'm a Seattle Seahawk fan. But man, I'll
tell you what those Lions show are fun. Why can't
it be like that? Why you gotta be they gotta
win the Super Bowl? They gotta Oh I said, was man,
it sure as a fun team to watch. No matter
who you root for, you could be going for the
forty nine ers, right, Man, it's a fun team.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
I don't think I think that that's coming from a
Lions fan who has been who's been starved, So you
think you're fun. So that's not what I'm saying. But
you think everybody should be on board with the Lions,
And I don't think that that's really the case in
NFL America.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Okay, Well, I know every single thing that they put
out polls. The number one anytime someone takes a poll
the Super Bowl people want you know who it is?
The Lions Bills. You know, the next one is the
Lions Ravens. You know who Vegas had all season long?

Speaker 3 (05:33):
As make it?

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Do you understand what Vegas died? I understand that, and
I just gave you multiple options. You momenty people say, hey, man,
I'm a big time such and such fan.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
I gotta admit, man, the Lions are fun?

Speaker 4 (05:42):
Man Like, I personally got that so many even after
they lost last year, you know you everybody's homes and
they were talking about them.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Let's move on because you can't say they're fun.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Geez no, I didn't say that they weren't fun, but
they say they're fun.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Are they fun? I just don't like this.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Let me let me do you No, no, no, it's
just like every time something if something bad happened to go, Oh,
I don't know what did he get in?

Speaker 3 (06:10):
You don't want anybody to score. You act like every play,
Oh did he get in? Oh? I don't think he
got in. Oh I'm not feeling good because they did.
The forty nine is just scored. They were up to fourteen.
Really really, Lions are fun? Is the super question. But
that's what I'm asking you. Look how you can't answer
everybody gotta answer your question? Every part? Are the Lions
of fun?

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Play with the Lions is like you feel like question
cheated or something.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
They should win.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
If they don't, if they don't lose them, if they
lose the Minnesota, you come up, you go they were
what an excuse on why they gave choke down the division?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Are they well they got injuries.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Are they anything that matters is that they Oh, they
break people's next they just wait?

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Are they a fun team? Let's talk about are they
a fun team?

Speaker 4 (07:00):
So let it be known that you didn't answer a question,
as mister always trying to pin somebody down.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Are the Lions of fun team? Can we talk about?
All right? We told it?

Speaker 4 (07:09):
Can we talk six oh eight, December thirty if you
didn't want to answer.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Questions nine oh eight East Coast? What the Lions play
the most fun team?

Speaker 5 (07:19):
All right?

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Rob g can you tell us what happened we were talking
about cam Ward please at nine o eight When he
didn't answer.

Speaker 6 (07:24):
Besides getting Rob Parker's panties in a bunch, cam Ward
really upset a lot of people in the college football world.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
It was ridiculous. I saw everything he decided. Now here's
the thing, here's the backstory.

Speaker 6 (07:37):
His head coach, Mario Cristobal made a big point over
the weekend and say, hey, our guy is playing in
the bowl game and he deserves to be commended because
a lot of people in NIL in this era of
football would sit this kind of game out, and our
guy's different.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
And rightfully he is playing in the Pop Tarts Bowl.
That sounds like a joke.

Speaker 6 (07:56):
So cam Ward came out in the first half and
lit the world on fire through a couple of touchdown passes,
became the NCAA all time leader in career touchdown passes
in the first half, and then just decided he wasn't
going to play the second half. And because he did that,
couple with the fact that Gristobol after the game was

(08:18):
basically giving the no comment as to why his guy
didn't finish the game out when they had a chance
to win it in the fourth quarter. They're only now
by one and if you got to imagine if they
had cam Ward, they would have won that game.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
He didn't play.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
But again, him deciding to play the first half not
play the second half rough with a lot of feathers
in the college football world.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Rock Party's fun. Did you see that passed outfield? Okay,
that's not fun. That's not fun. No, I don't have.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
An issue with cam Ward at all. He didn't even
have to play at all. He played the first half.
They kind of knew what was the situation is. And
that's not going to change that football that college football
teams uh anything by him not playing in the second half,
and this guy is going to be a top pick

(09:06):
and his.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Whole career and people need to stop.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
The biggest fallacy going is that everybody who plays college
football is making millions of dollars with n I L
It's not true. There's a handful of people I'm asking.
We could say, can you name all the TV national
TV spots?

Speaker 3 (09:29):
You know you've seen whatever? I mean. Juju Watkins has one.

Speaker 6 (09:34):
And.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Caleb Williams had a few hullias after coming off the Heisman.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
But where are the other people? I don't know where
they are. I don't see him. And That's what I'm
trying to say.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
So are you saying I guess I'm saying what I'm
saying with him, what's the money part have to do
with him playing.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
The idea that he already committed to playing like that half,
which was putting his potential NFL career in jeopardy. Whether
people want to acknowledge or not that he could get hurt.
You can get hurt, you can lose millions of dollars,
But to put itself out there for longer than he

(10:15):
needs to. I have no issue with that. The coach
obviously they talked about it. They all came to an agreement.
So it ain't like, oh my God and the end.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
Of the world.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Oh that they gotta win the Pop Tarts Bowl for what.
That ain't If this was for the college football playoffs
and the national champion, he would play.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Anybody worth the assault would play in that game.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
I just I don't have a massive problem with it,
but I would have preferred him to finish it just
because he started it, you know what I mean. Mean
if you say, look, if you're gonna play, if he wasn't,
we get it. You're top five.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
But you're okay with Saquon Barkley starting it but not
finishing the game. So you said you're okay with Saquon
starting and if he doesn't get it, he doesn't have
to finish against Why doesn't he.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Have to play the entire game?

Speaker 4 (10:59):
I answered that because for Cam, this is it, like,
this is your last game, Sakwan, try to get it
first half. We're going on to the playoffs. Hopefully in
a perfect world for them, they're going to the super Bowl.
This is Cam's last game, so this is your last game.
You didn't have to play. I agree with that. If
he's just saying, man, I'm a top five pick. I
choose not to. That's his choice. Just like I said,
I respect Travis and shadoring them saying they want to play.

(11:20):
They want to finish the job with their team. So
that was my point is if he chose to play,
and he looked this coach, you want to play, then
I'm like, all right, cool, just play. Finish the game.
This is your last game. Go out with you boys.
You came in, you want to finish with him. That
was what I would have preferred.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
And if it way that they were like, well just
going in the last draw. No, I didn't play the.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Second, but that made now that I agree, that makes
it weird at that point to like you're.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Gonna pick a spot to go back in there.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
That's the worst statement to me than just saying I'm
not gonna play. Hey guys, look, i'm gonna play. I
want to, you know, play with you guys. First half
that to die, but I'm not playing the second. I'm
gonna let you guys rock out. Then to come back
in when it's convenient, be like, oh wait, let me
go win it, And that would be weird.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
That would be in there. So maybe to the quarterback
who would have been in because the yo, you weren't
good enough to play the first four team.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
You got to just come back when it's convenient to make,
you know, making a great play for you.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
I won a game for you. So I don't agree
with that.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
But that's why I prefer him to start it and
play it or just say, yo, I was with y'all,
we had a good run. I'm going to the league.
I would prefer him to either just do that or
play the game. Just play the game in a way.
I'm okay with it because I get why guys don't.
It ain't the college football playoff. I might get hurt.
I'm a top five pick. I get it. But I
would prefer you to play. If you're given insurance money,

(12:35):
it ain't.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
It ain't the same as what you would make if
you're a top pick being decapitated.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
To like not still get when you're this good but
you're not to be You're not getting It's not up.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
You don't have an insurance policy for one hundred and
sixty million.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
I'm saying right.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
What I'm saying is like cam Ward fractures his leg,
He's still being a top ten pick yea, but you
know what I'm saying, like, I'm not when you're that good,
it's the middling guys. If you're a third round, picks
a kid.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
Who's the kid rob G who got caught with the
on Twitter with the gas hospital and it cost him
money in.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
The beginning, injury is different than but I'm thinking you're
a you know, it might be a bad kid because
you got a freaking gas mask full of weed on,
you know.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
But I'm just so the man, but Batman would we
it cost him money, is all I'm saying. And you
don't know if if depending on how bad the injury is.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
No, I'm not saying he might go from seven.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Nine if your foot is detached or it needs pins,
you know what I mean, or or it's some injury
like that that changes your.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Whole Like we don't know just when you're that good
as good as he is Heisman candidate and in this
good like he'll be fine. But I get the idea
for that's I said, I'm not mad if he didn't play,
I'm not mad at that. But you play, just go ahead, finish?

Speaker 1 (13:57):
It is how I feel eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox, Did you have a problem with cam Ward
sitting out the second half of the Pop Tarts Bowl.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Continue that conversation.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
It is The Odd Couple on Fox Sports Radio, Rob
Parker Kelvin Washington on a Magic City Monday.

Speaker 7 (14:14):
Stick and stay unless you're also told to answer yes
or no.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
In the US, I'll answer what I want.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Hang Up Me?

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Is that couple Rock Parker kelvin Washington on a Magic
City Monday?

Speaker 3 (14:40):
They say, who is this?

Speaker 8 (14:41):
Rob?

Speaker 3 (14:42):
I got faith and Rob, this is uh NICKI minaj No.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
But you know, keep going. I'll give you a clue.
It's a play on the name of an animal, like
a great ape. I don't know who is Glorilla glow Rilla. Yeah,
as many twenty three year old. I was gonna say,
now this has been blasting in your car with Shorty

(15:09):
doo Wop. You just didn't know it. She got in
and was playing, and you like, I don't know who
it is. I'm Trilla. Okay, So next time you're picking
up whomever and get in, just play a little go
to Apple Music and just play a glorilla playlist.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
But after, you know, sometimes she's tired after getting off
from Wendy's. You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Wait, is that where y'all go afterwards? Because I know
you ain't picking up a Wendy's not on the Magic
City Monday. I'm just saying, you know, hey, real quick,
coming to you live from the tirereck dot Com studio.
Tirereck dot Com is gonna help you get there and
unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road has a protection
and over ten thousand recommended her.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Grown you tire You listening to glow the way tire
Binks should be. His wife might be. Actually, I have
a life you don't know about. You must have it.
You know I've seen triving for an hour and fifteen
minutes to day. I got time. Yeah, you know you
know about that traving? No what that's true. That's true.
That's when you listen to all your music. But that's all.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
It was like massively viral, like every cute girl was
using it, you know to do something online like I'm.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
Going out to an eight, especially if it was hot outside,
like oh my godness.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
And it was when I dropped too. That was one
of them. One all right.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox we're talking about
right and do you have an issue with the Let's
go to Andre in Massachusetts.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Dright?

Speaker 9 (16:25):
How you doing?

Speaker 3 (16:26):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (16:26):
Man?

Speaker 8 (16:27):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (16:27):
After Monday another week. I do have a problem with
cam Ward sitting out in the second half based on
the optics. You know, your coach is going out there
talking about how you're stepping up, you know, and you're
gonna be out there for your team and leading all
the rest of that stuff. And I know what is
NFL draft status and.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
His teaching career.

Speaker 9 (16:44):
Why don't we do some communicating and let it be known,
just like what's going on with Josh Allen. Right, he's
out there for the Iron Man records, you know, to
keep it going. He's gonna play a little bit, but
then we're gonna pull him back, you know what I mean,
and get ready for the long haul. So the larger
problem that I'm seeing is this is going around. Guys
aren't getting off the hook. What happened with the young
man from Indianapolis Richardson when he sat out. Okay, Aaron

(17:06):
Rodgers just this last week, the chips are down. Okay,
Now all of a sudden, you want to give Tyrod
Taylor some shine. So there's this primadonna thing that's kind
of going, uh that is present that he's a part of.
And then you tie in the whole nil and entitlement
thing and you.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
Put it all together.

Speaker 9 (17:22):
In the bottom line is you're not a winner. I
don't know if I can trust you.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
Right.

Speaker 9 (17:25):
We got guys like in my concluding points, you got
guys like Travis Hunter. He's out there playing. Yeah, they
got the breaks beat off of them, but he's playing
and he wants to play.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
And you look at but why can't it be at
It's up to you whether you want to play.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
In those situations, it would be different.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
The only way Dre that I would question somebody is
if they were in the college football playoff and they
said they didn't want to.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
Play because they were going to the league.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
That guy, I don't want that guy who should be playing.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
There's something else. Second, yeah, you know what I mean.
Point of it. I think the second half part, like
I said, I think I.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Don't have an issue with it. You're lucky played in
the first half. I wouldn't have been mad if he
didn't play at all.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
That to me is where I would rather you not
play at all or play the game you play play half.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
So then Josh Allen shouldn't go out there and get
to just snap for the record.

Speaker 4 (18:15):
Right, I'm okay with that too. Why why are you
okay with that? No, I'm saying, okay to your point,
I'm saying what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
But do you frown upon him that he's acting acting
like he's an iron man, but he's not actually playing
what But it's fraudulent.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
It is fraudulent. There's the other way around it. I agree,
But he's gonna do it. And what happened is as
he gets, you know, another ten twenty thirty games on
his belt.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
We won't remember that game, but there.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Are moments when you start to look at it and
and that was That's the other thing that Eli had.
He played every game. I mean, he don't bring it back.
He was incredible. I'm just saying, well, I'll give him that,
but don't bring it back that weekend. That's gonna be
what they say to get him in the.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
Hall of Fame. Man by the way he played. Every
game he beat, he beat was he beat your your
goat twice. He has.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
The only reason he's here is because of two last names,
Manning and Brady. He's a Manning and he beat Brady.
That's the singular doing with them. Absolutely, he's a Manning
and he beat Brady. No, he's the most middling quarterback.
Matthew Stafford won't make the Hall of Fame. And he
is eternally better and more talented and not a signal,

(19:18):
not in the not in the big moments, because.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Stafford gets busy in the big moment.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
On the big threw, he threw a pick that should
have lost the Super Bowl that that was dropped. But
Eli has two signature throws and that got him in
the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
Boy his last name was Smith, Eli Smith thinking it
and he's got a two m vps. Eli Smith, who
beat Ben Roethlisberger in the Hall and the Super Bowl
ain't getting in.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
What is this overtime? The bulls, Oh, I can see
who'd you have? Yeah? But they're up by five, eight, seven,
seven ninety nine. On Fox. We have one more. You
got to turn that way.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
Yeah, but I think a lot of it will take
one more real quick before we get to h what's
trending with Steve?

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Yeah? This this this? Uh, what's the So it's at
halftime or still got a minute to go?

Speaker 8 (20:06):
Right?

Speaker 3 (20:07):
Yeah? Under a man, Oh, they're replaying that NFC Championship game.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
Some of the miscues and drop passes and mispasses it's
called it's called football. Yeah and non uh and in
bad situations from Dan Campbell that just man, you talk
about unraveling, That's what that was right there.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Dude, they were killing them in the first half.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
I mean, like seriously, and I really mean this, Rob
when when we've had conversations about just like what they
should or shouldn't do should they play that? I think
he has PTSD of like you know, letting it go
and taking easy foot off the gas. And I think
that's why they're playing right now. And obviously they want
to win this game. They're gonna play next week because
they have to Minnesota, and so I think they don't
want to ever take their foot off the gas again.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Drew and Bakersfield, California. You're on the couple of Fox
Drogs Radio.

Speaker 8 (20:49):
What's up what's up, guys? Someone has to look up
the stats as people who sit out the last game
a bowl game or even the last year when people
used to stay for four years, who got hurt in
the NFL. So my question is, where's Christian McCaffrey who
set out a bowl game? He's hurt.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
He's also had a great career and made a lot
of money.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Well, okay, but you got anymore because I want to
say you might be cooking, keep going?

Speaker 3 (21:17):
You got anymore?

Speaker 5 (21:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (21:18):
Because Andre in Massachusetts hit on something. You got to
be a winner and you got to be willing to grind.
And these guys sitting out the bowl game, which is
the most important, supposed to be most important game of
your season, not anymore.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
When they've they've made the bowl games meaningless. Thanks Andrew,
appreciate it. We appreciate it. It's different. The bowl games
aren't the same. We know that, robb gi.

Speaker 6 (21:43):
Yeah, just a quick question before we get to Stephen
and trending. So I mentioned before Christova made a big
deal to say, hey, our guy is playing in the
bowl game.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
This means a lot of YadA, YadA YadA.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
You guys have talked to you and been around a
lot of NFL decision makers evaluators. How much do you
think it's going to matter come draft season that Shador
Sanders played in a meaningless bowl game and cam Ward
pulled himself at half time.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
I don't think it.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
I just can't see that being the reason whether you
decide on somebody or not between the two of them.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Yeah, I just don't. I really don't, because you have
to look at it now. I agree with you, But
you know how some of these guys are some of
them are weird. And we noticed with Caleb you know, hey,
he has a social life. I don't know if I
like that. He's smart. Oh, he paints his nail.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Oh he cried towards mom after a game.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
You know, like we heard all that he still was
a number one pick. Yeah, I'll tell you.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Looking to despondable in just a moment, Let's go to
West Trending right now with Steve the Seger.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to

Speaker 4 (22:51):
We are the odd couple Rod Parker Kevin Washington on
the Magic City Monday, coming to you live from tyrack
dot com Studios. Roger asked a good question, and I
think Rob g just to reiterate your question for those
maybe just joining you had Cam Warden not played in
the second half of that game for Miami, and you
were asking, do we think you know Shador santor Travis
Hunter they played in a meaningless game, you could say,

(23:13):
because obviously they're gonna be top five picks it right
around there. I think you have particular owners, just like
you have old school coaches. So I think you'll have
some owners or some gms who have a philosophy. By golly,
you remember the movie what was it called Just Draft,
the one with Kevin cost Draft Day. There we go,
we're like, who came to his birthday party?

Speaker 5 (23:36):
You know?

Speaker 4 (23:36):
And if none of his teammates came, clearly he's a
bad guy. And so I think you'll have that kind
of GM who's like, hey, you know, you didn't do this,
you didn't show up. I think others will be like,
I don't give a dang. What can he play? Is
he good? Is he?

Speaker 3 (23:49):
You know?

Speaker 4 (23:49):
The guys are skilled. The skill set match what we're
trying to do. Let's run with that. So I think
it's gonna depend on what type of caliber of GM
and or owner you are, because you know what I.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
Mean, Like some of these philosophy, I think it's dumb.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
I think you got to look at guy's talent and
you can't let one situation or circumstance.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
And and I think if if I'm a GM or what,
it's smart, the kids smart.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
He shouldn't be out there. Why you worked this hard
to get to that? But then why that's my own
Why just don't play? And your point is valid? Hey,
you he I don't want to play. I gave him
all but.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
To me, if he plays the half it was there
was a record on the line, right and he had
a chance to get it. And you don't know, maybe
the coach said it would mean a lot to me
in a school that we have this record.

Speaker 6 (24:37):
Do you think that that could actually work against him?
Because again, NFL front office guys are weird. So you
only played to break.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
The break your record for you. You didn't stand in.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
My coach asked me that this was important to the
university and something that he really wanted to have under
his belt. Well, what if the coach. I'm just saying
he wanted it not as well. I mean, that's different.
I'm just saying, better not throw his players, you know
what I mean? He kind of did already by refusing
to say, like why, what the what? Why he didn't
go back?

Speaker 3 (25:06):
He could have just said, hey, we made a decision.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
And then I do agree that was kind of weird
because if to me, you walked into this knowing what
it was.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Right, I just think we're playing a half. People have
a right to play or not play. And then you
know what I'm talking about the communication of it. I
meaning if he said, hey, he only he's only playing
a half. He wants to go out there see if
he can break his team. They all rally and said,
we want him to break this record. He's gonna go
out there and double We'll see you at the second half.
I doubt he's gonna play. You said, all right, cool, But.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
When you make it like he's just about his team
and he wants to show up and he wants to
be there and he doesn't play the second half, and
it makes people go, well, what the heck is that
all about?

Speaker 3 (25:44):
But That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
I thought for a meaningless game, Like if you're a player,
I'm just saying, if he's not sitting out the National
Championship game, he's sitting out a bowl game that doesn't
even really count. For people to be Bowl eligible, you
need to win six games. Come on, really, like like

(26:06):
these bats anybody could some bad teams too. Was playing
in my face right now, not like like that's what
we're talking about.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
The only thing, the only thing I'll pushed back, especially
because you you, you know, you teach kids and all
of that.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
Like the only thing I'll push back on.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
It's not that the Pop Tarts Bowl was a life
game changing moment. But I do think there's something to
why I why I liked what Travis and you know
shad Or did.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
Yeah, because they got out of it unscanned, right, But
I'm just so.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
But I'm saying it's the point of like, man, we've
been in this blood, sweat and tears. We've been preaching
this it's all about us, and then we've came in
and they kicked people about them. Yeah, and so what
that's literally a part of it. But that's literally a
part of football. You're gonna get smacked, you're gonna get
blown out, You're gonna win or lose close games.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
That is a part of four.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
You know who's gotten smacked up Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State.
But they didn't playing those games they've gotten smacked up.
It happened. That's a part of the game.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
You're just saying, like for for Chaquor and those guys
like like them Tupac.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
But I just don't understand, like the.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
Because what I'm saying you finishing, Like if you and
I went into something and like, what's wrong with the yo, man,
I'm not This isn't changing the game, but you and
I want to finish something like I don't. I don't
have a problem with that. If if if people want
to finish something, start with my boys. I came in
me and this dude with the same class, and I don't.
I think that's kind of cool. Like if that's what
they want to do, this wouldn't move me at all.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
If I have a teammate, seriously who's on that level
and is that talented and has this whole future and
a career, I'm happy for them and whatever they decide
for themselves.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Because you all haven't season though you also know.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
The flip side that, and and and if I was,
I would be a coach to show them the videotape
of all these other players who played in meaningless games,
who got hurt, and.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
And like that happened so infrequently, but it happened. If
you go by it happens. There's like literally like eighty
guys on East team in Collags football, and at the
end of a bowl game, like one and a half
are hurt, and then maybe one is like maybe not
even serious, but you know he's banged up.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
He'll be down for a few weeks.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
Like you keep going with the hurt when that just
doesn't happen that often at all.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
So to me, he doesn't. It only needs to happen
one time.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
But when it does, you still get Well, that's mc
gaye's leg almost fell off and he still got drafted
in the first round.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
What kind of career did you have a nice career?
Did you have the career that people thought?

Speaker 3 (28:33):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
I mean, I'm saying I don't know what happened to
I know he got he got injured, came back, had
a nice career. So I'm like, if you're that good,
you're going to still be drafted.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
Noain saying that you're not gonna be drafted, You're gonna
get drafted high. Travis Hunter in Harm's way, rakes an
arm guess will still getting drafted top seven, eight picks,
Travis Hunter.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
It doesn't matter. It still doesn't. It's still your decision.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
And I don't know why you're why you're bob or
you think that his teammates are gonna think less of
him because he's playing in some bowl game that any
team in college football who wins six games can play in.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
But watch, there's nothing special about it.

Speaker 4 (29:12):
But Okay, it's not just keep saying that, But I
do feel like that is a new phenomenon when we
literally for decades set up here and praised bowl games.
Now again, we're not talking about six and sixteen. We're
talking about teams who were ten and three who couldn't
go to the you know, the Final four as they
had a the you know, FBC or whatever. We forgot
the name of the initials. But like that was a

(29:34):
big deal going to a big bowl game for years.
So I understand there's all types of bowl game, and
I'm not gonna act like going not going to a
bowl game for a ninety percent of my life was
a big deal for these big schools, and now all
of a sudden, they're not. And I think if a
guy wants to play with his team and go out
there and compete, it said. I was with here with
all my brothers the whole season, and I'm gonna go

(29:56):
out here for this last game with my brothers. I
think that's cool. I gotta If you don't want to play,
so be that is all right. But I think it's
admirable that should do. And also Travis, guys who absolutely
could not have chose to.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Yeah, I just don't think it it to me. It
doesn't factor in either way. It's your You have a
right to do it, and if you do it, that's fine.
If you want to put yourself out there. I think
the smart person thinks about the rep the worst case scenario,
which is what you.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Always have to think.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
They can't go through life since you do, no and
in situations where you put yourself in harms, you do
that from five years old.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
No, but not not in a football game. That doesn't
matter when you're during the season. I'm not saying I'm
gonna sit out Game four because they have the best
defense in the league, and they might hurt me that
you cannot do. But once you've already your team did
not qualify, you were Colorado to go to the College
Football Players team win.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
Like there's like, most teams aren't gonna make it to
the college playoffs, So I can't just finish up a
college career because I'm not gonna make it to the
college football playoffs. Like that doesn't make sense to me.
Most teams aren't it. Up until this year, there wasn't
no twelve teams making it. There was far So I
can't what's the point of playing?

Speaker 3 (31:15):
I got you.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
I want to finish something I started, and I don't.
I don't have I don't have a problem with that,
all right? Last Call eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 10 (32:50):
All right, Daniel and Wichita, You're the last call on
the Odd Couple Sports Radio what's up, Daniel?

Speaker 5 (33:02):
Hey, how you guys doing today?

Speaker 3 (33:04):
Great?

Speaker 5 (33:05):
All right, So I just wanted to bring a point
about Eli Manning and why he should be in the
Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
All right now, I.

Speaker 5 (33:11):
Think everyone would agree that Peyton Manning first ballot Hall
of Famer. No dispute there. When you look at Peyton
Manning's two Super Bowl wins. The first one was against
a far in for your Chicago Bears team led by
Rex Grossman. Yes, really had no business even making the
Super Bowl that year.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
When you think about it, yep, I agree with that.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
Okay. If it wasn't for our defense and special teams,
we wouldn't have been there. The second Super Bowl was
against uh was with the Broncos, and same thing. It
was the defense that wanted four.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
Oh yeah, Peate Manning did played poorly.

Speaker 5 (33:49):
Right, Yes he did. He was He was actually on
the bench a good part of the regular season. Okay,
Eli Manning has two Super Bowl wins over far super
here your team. I'll hang up and let you guys
do I want I wanted.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
I want him to cook some more. He just like, okay,
I can't. Peyton Manning was m v P. Peyon Manning
was feared he was the sheriff he was like, but
he didn't play that great. And that's a fair point.
But Eli didn't play great for so much of his career,
is all I'm saying. And you can't, come on, you
can't never be all pro and never be one of

(34:26):
the top three four of yours.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
But it's not that hit.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
Here's the other problem, okay, is Eli, because of his
durability and his playing ability, he is in the top
ten and passing you.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
So I want you to hold that same energy with
Matthew Stafford. I want you to hold that same energy
with Matthew.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Everyone knows better.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
Matthew Stafford didn't win an MVY. I'll find a Super
Bowl m and left. And here's the best part about it.
Matthew Stafford threw a game winning touchdown to win the
Super Bowl and didn't get the m v P. That's how.
But that's how poorly he played, that's how poor.

Speaker 8 (35:09):
For that.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Two interceptions should have been too, he had too, That's
why didn't get the m v What I'm saying, and
he's a better player than Eli. Nobody that Eli wouldn't
even deny that.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
I want to say this though, but this did you
see the FBI?

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Oh wait what basically given a warning to UH athletes
all these robberies, and yeah, this is getting crazy, like
like who is it Lucas House Lucas, But now they
got Holmes Kelsey, it's Joe Burrow. It's like big time.
And they say that this is organized. This isn't like they.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
Know exactly when you're going out of town for the
game and how long they've been watching your house. Yeah,
this is it's very brazen in the sense that these
guys you would assume have the best of the best
of the best security and you know, can have private
detectives at the house. So it is pretty brazen in
that regard. But yeah, I saw some Italian job movies.
You know they're just taking it out, figuring out what's

(36:10):
going on, and yeah it is. I'm starting to get
alarmed and the scary thing and I'm not trying to
be funny. You remember Sean Taylor's instance, right, Yeah, he
got killed.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Kim somebody broke in the house.

Speaker 4 (36:21):
He tried to, you know, defend his home, get shot like,
and my thing is, you know what happens a lot
of times these robbers, especially in these types of situations.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
They're not really violent like they're they're more brain than violent.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
But if you get in a situation where you get
put on you know, I'm in a compromising situation. I'm
you know, you know what I mean, Like you freak out,
you do crazy things and it's just yeah, it's a
scary situation because it's happening way more frequently uh than
anyone us brought it up.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
But athletes more now are targeted than before because there
was there was a degree of respect if.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
You made and if you made it to the league,
people you know what I mean, like they wouldn't like.
But now athletes are going out, they're getting their chain
snatch forty thousand dollars watches like it's it's.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
A man in the forty nine ers got shot right
and rob Yeah you know what.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
I mean, like it there's no there's none of that
like there there's there's no like, uh, I'm gonna respect
him because he plays for my team or he's from
my city or whatever.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Man it is for.

Speaker 4 (37:27):
Raising wild you know, because if you think of all
the uh, the smashing grads we're seeing things or trending
kids are like running in because they're like, if we
go twenty deep, there's no way they can get all
of us. Let's just go. So there's a lot of
that going on. There's a lot you know what I've
seen to Alex. I know you've probably seen this on TikTok,
like they tell you, like, yo, the best cars break
into or this one because they're easy. Because you know,

(37:48):
it's like we're in a wild little you know time
right now where right people are just doing stuff, just
robbing and and I.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
Think more information too.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
You know where these guys live, you know their homes,
you know, you know what I mean, the access to
it some scary stuff tomorrow today it was happening today
in these times. Stuff you know who we touched on,
but we didn't really get a chance to go a little,
you know, further with Lebron's birthday, Happy fortiethby fortieth sometimes
you look like fifty, but yeah, I know you're only forty.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
We'll talk more about it tomorrow. Don't worry about it.
