Let's say, hey, hey, Rob, can you believe that's one month?

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Hey, let's make sure we give it a little little time.
It's a lot going on in New Orleans right now,
Let's take this month.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
It's a month. But let them get But let's be honest.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Yes, they're going to p's and q's because everyone don't
say replaced.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Yeah, you know, I agree, it'll be.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Because of what have just happened, unfortunately, with the loss
of life, and.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
That's a serious thing.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
By the way, though your point, I got an email today,
Uh that said, of all the folks on Fox Sports
Radio that are taking care of business and responding to
emails and getting ready for Super Bowl and stuff, we
got coming.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
You know that we need guests.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Who are the two people that have been responsive and
on it?

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Me and you? Bruh, what do you mean? Nobody else?
Nobody else? What do you mean? You know? What do
you mean? Come on?

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Man?

Speaker 3 (02:32):
I got sources. Well, Rob Gen, you know what it was, right,
I don't.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
You didn't see the email? So, uh, we have a
new sponsor. Yeah, so you're like me. You saw you saw? Oh,
we're gonna take care of you. Always did is they
asked for our side sizes and closing it. You know,
we were on G so of course. Gee, we were
at the same size. I got you, so of course,
then again, you want to be all skinny me. Mine
went in, My request went in like you beat me,

(02:59):
and I five seconds after the email came in. Yeah,
I don't know how you beat me. I'm being honest
with you, like that was. I just happened to be
up and they you over to pops in and you.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Just yeah, So don't you ever beat me that fast?

Speaker 4 (03:12):
In fact, Yeah, but that's a that was a funny
little email I got. You're officially the best. Blah blah blah.
You and Robber are the only two.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Oh that's how you know? Okay that I got.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Hey, Alex, make sure you take all of that out,
just in case I wasn't suppoed. Say now that whole
first segment.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Can we can you get us up to date on
these crying lions worried about changing the NFL Man New
Year knew me.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
I'm not even about to jump over this table. I'm
just saying New Year knew me.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
Well, to your point, everybody who listens to the couple
knows this, but Sunday Night, Lions and the Vikings for
all the marbles in the NFC. The winner will win
the NFC North will be the top seed in the
NFC playoffs.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Can you tell Kelvin please? And we'll get a first
round by what.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Happened depends if the Lions lose the game, the loser
of that game will drop down to the fifth seed,
will play in the wildcard round.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
But not only that, they gotta play on the road.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Oh wait, rob G, rob G? In the words, remember
one said, I ain't gonna be no problem. Ain't gonna
be no problem. Let me ask you this and guess
Lions or what do you know? The record this year
on the road undefeated?

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Undefeated? Okay, ain't gonna be no problem. Ain't gonna be
no problem?

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Get and guess where I'll be Sunday night. I'm coming
over if the Lions lose, Now, how will I be?
I will be in the parking lot in my call,
waiting for Monday show.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
I just want you to know I'm not coming on Monday,
rob G. You know that it's gonna be like first
day of school.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
So excited I'll be in the Yes, Christmas finished the challenges,
you right over to the parking.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Right after the the fastest NBC.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
You know, the.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
Fact that this game has so much riding on it
has not been lost on anybody, including Lions wide receiver.
I'm Monross Saint Brown. He has a problem with the
way the loser is being penalized in such a way.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Take a listen.

Speaker 6 (05:08):
That's the craziest I'm thinking about now. It's one of
the craziest rules ever. The NFL needs to change into
division winners obviously make the playoffs after that.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Best record from seeding. That's how seat is gonna work.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
Best record, top four teams get you know, one through
four seedon all the way down.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
What why is he even entertaining that win the game?
You don't have to worry about all of that. I
just hate the idea because this is an anomaly. You
know that this doesn't happen rob at this It's happened
one other time in the NFL. Okay, So here's my
point is, it doesn't happen that often. And you want

(05:48):
to make the divisions worth something, right, winning the division
otherwise what would be the point. Then then you're gonna
get rid of all the divisions. That's why you make
it worthwhile. So then not gonna change anything because one
year the Vikings and Lions happened to each go fourteen
and two.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
I think the only thing that would make it considerate
is we've had the opposite. We've had teams that were
just back when it was sixteen games, but you know,
seven and nine win their division. Cam Newton did that
a couple times where he won the division, like three
years in a row. Two of the three he wasn't
even above five hundred and so that kind of I
can see them saying, if you know, the rules committee

(06:26):
say that is kind of question that. But I'm gonna
not reward the Vikings or the Lions in this case
and give the you know, if it were the Panthers
of the you know, say this year, the seven and
nine Panthers they get to get a bye. I can
see them saying, we want to line it up where
we're trying. I wouldn't want the Vikings or the Lions
to lose to that. Like I want to get the
Vikings or the Lions in the later rounds against the Eagles,

(06:47):
Like I could see them one and again that's the
best teams, you know later in the in the conference.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Uh we saw two years ago in baseball that the
best teams got the bods and they all long.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
But you know, baseball is sport with.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Automatic that because especial because it's a one and done football, right.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
But I think that that's the only reason why I'm
saying I could see them considering is like, well, now
that we have this and it still only happened twice,
That's what I'm saying. But now that we have that,
you're not hardly ever again twice. Where you're gonna have
a team that be fourteen and three a five seed.
That is absolutely crazy to think about. But I but
I think the larger conversation is more so because it

(07:31):
just happened the only second time in history that it
makes you go, oh well, I never even thought about
that because it never happens. But now that I'm thinking
about it, that is kind of crazy that Lions or
Vikings would have to do all this going a road
and you can have a terrible you know, the Falcons
or the Bucks who didn't have some great season.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Now they give fourteen and three, it doesn't matter, go
and beat them.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Choice but it's gonna go go beat a team that's
seven and nine or whatever.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
I mean, going the road.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
If you're gonna win a super Bowl on making to
the Super Bowl, you're gonna have to face some challenges.
We talk about all the time, when Eli Manning won
those two Super Bowls, or get on the road, go
to Green Bay.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Ben Roethlisberger and then did that once to go.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Go go where you gotta go and and win the game.
When Aaron Rodgers and the Packers won, what were they
a sixth seed?

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Right?

Speaker 1 (08:18):
They were six seed? They went on the road and
they played three rule games a super Bowl to get
to get to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Listen, you can get it done.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
And again I just mentioned and I wasn't even you know,
just trying to be funny, like the Lions are undefeated
on the road, like they they beat Minnesota on the road,
they beat Green Bay on the road, so they're doing right.
So it's not I don't think he's overly worried. I
think it's more of an observation like, oh, shoot, now
that this thing has happened for the second time, and
I guarantee you he doesn't know the first time. I

(08:46):
think it's the first time it's crossed his mind, like, oh,
wait a.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Minute, but crazy.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
When I first heard it, I thought to myself, Okay,
is this brown like.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Greasing the skids so they lose?

Speaker 1 (08:59):
So then you know what I mean, because you're putting
it out there, and then you'll have something to complain about.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
And then if the Lions go on the road right
there and lose.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
To somebody Bucks or something, right then they'll be like,
this wasn't fair, right, Oh, this wasn't fair. We should
we were fourteen and three. We should have had a
bi or we should have been this, that and the
other thing. That's the part that I don't like. I
just wouldn't have entertained it. I don't even if he's asked. Dude,
I'm the only thing I care about is Sunday we
win the game and we'll have what we what we

(09:30):
worked for all year.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
I know, don't mind it. I don't mind if he
goes that is kind of wild. Has that ever happened before,
because I'm sure he doesn't know. They go, Oh, it's
happened with other times. Oh, that is kind of crazy.
But at the end of the day, we got a
team in front of us. We're going out there to
win and smash whoever's in front of us. That's you know,
that's the answer. But remember this is the air of podcast,
is the air of you know, I gotta get my
stuff out there. Because the first place he entertained this

(09:52):
was on his podcast. This was the first time that
he actually talked about it. And then obviously the reporters
got a hold that say, hey, you said this before.
But I don't think he's overly worried. I mean, I
think this team has been built the way they are.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
The way their defense is right now, what I saw
Brock Party do I'm afraid if I'm a Lions No,
I'm just talking about just in general.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Listen, but don't break rob Ge.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Look at their defense that I caught them, the Detroit
Lions Troit that. But that's why the only thing I'll say,
and I'm not even saying rightening, is what I'm saying,
their defense here's where you Here's one thing that I'll
say though, and I was telling rob g this, their
defense isn't great right now. It was actually really good
throughout the season to all these injuries, but it hasn't

(10:36):
been great the last four or five weeks or so.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
We all know that injuries.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
But the thing you have to do, Vikings or the Rams,
if they were to lose and go face the Rams,
whoever may be, you better keep scoring. The Buffalo Bills.
Did y'all see that game destroying the Lions? Josh Allen
looked like the greatest thing since Cy spread and.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
You know what happened in the game the Bills.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
But that's what I'm saying, you better keep scoring because
that's the one thing the Lions are gonna do. Keep
scoring at the biggest plus differential plus my you know,
points differential in the entire NFL. The number one offense,
So so I'm just saying their defense can give you
Vikings twenty five twenty some Hey, just put it on
the board.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Y'all got twenty six.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
Well, y'all better maybe get to thirty because this offense
is going to score. Jared Goff is going to produce.
They're gonna run the ball, and they're gonna have trick
plays and they're gonna score. So that's the thing. I'm
not saying they're unbeatable now because of this defense, but you.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Better keep, say, giving up thirty one plus in three
of their last four game.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
That's a lot of points they win on them to
try to win. How many they win, that don't matter.
What do you need, It don't matter. It doesn't matter.
That won twice out of the four and and you
better win them. Boys are fourteen and two.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
All I'm saying is when you look at it as
you get to this twice, what out of that? The
Vikings aren't like some and you already beat the Vikings
already and there so they kind of owe you one
and they this is like you beat the Packers. We
beat them twice, okay, but this is the Vikings. You'd
have won Sam Donald's this and then they got the
coach and you got the defense like they got.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
They got a good defense.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
That defense is really Dan you Brian Flores, I just
I don't know, say you button Miami.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
I'm gotta feeling the lines. Mike get skunked in this game?
Is that possible? Thirty one?

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Nothing? Is that? Is that? Two?

Speaker 7 (12:17):
Rob G?

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Did you just now he went the boy?

Speaker 8 (12:20):
Rob G?

Speaker 4 (12:21):
We always went a whole showed out in extreme Rob Parker,
I was I was worried about it. I thought it
was New Year, New you for a minute. Thank you
for coming back to earth and giving me a.

Speaker 5 (12:31):
Robstock the minute short, because not just they gotta lose
thirty one, nothing is Jared GOB's gonna throw four two.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Up the Big sixes. It's gonna gamble four times and
none of them work.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
None of the plays worked three times, fourth and goal
at the goal line.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
They're gonna get stopped every time. Hey, the best part
about this, Rob g for the next one. Is it
seventy two hours or forty eight hours? Rob Parker is
about to be a Sam Donald fa hating on them
all year. Boy, you about to have a Sam Donald.
Believe I got his jersey at home. I can't wait
to see you with your saying Donald, palm pom, Where

(13:06):
are you watching the game?

Speaker 3 (13:07):
I might pull up. Oh you're not, I might pull up.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
I can't watch games like that, Nah, I might pull
up on you. Because the last time we had that
what was that playoff game where where Tom Brady threw
the interception against the Chiefs and who was it? Ford
lined up? You remember, I can't remember what was his
first name, d Ford? You remember lined up offside? Yeah,

(13:30):
that was a game losing interception and it got called
back and I could not believe we were all out
at a sports bar.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
That's what Chris was used to hang out with, living
out here in LA and all that, and we all went.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
It was like twenty of us. I was so sick.
I was like, I can't watch games. I had to
walk out. I walked out.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Chris was like, you disappeared because you know it was
a Brady and all that. Yeah, I need a smoke brick.
You don't even smoke. I need it one after that,
tell you, yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
Whatever, text you, I'm gonna pull up, put up to
the Parker residents.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Here we go.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
All right, Does the NFL need to overhaul this uh
playoff format? Or is Saint Brown just preparing himself for
a Lions loss? How did you read this with him
talking about this prior and worrying about it about chang
as if the rules committee is going to make a
change after they lose.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Brought that up. We'll continue that conversation next with you.

Speaker 1 (14:27):

Rob Parker kelvin Washington, talking about the I'm a Saint Brown,
I'm in Ron Saint Brown who for the Lions receiver,
basically said that they need to rethink the way they
do the seating and the positioning in the playoffs because
you can have the Lions be the number one seed

(15:44):
or the fifth, and the same thing for the Vikings
depending on the Sunday night game?

Speaker 3 (15:48):
So is he wrong? Is he right? Eight seven seven
ninety nine? On Fox, we got Let's go Marty in Kentucky.
Happy New Year, Marty? How are you.

Speaker 8 (15:57):
Happy New year?

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Rock?

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Kevin? How y'all doing doing great? How are you out
the family? Marty? Everybody good?

Speaker 8 (16:04):
Everybody's good. We just watched Sonic three and I am
taking River back home. He's in the truck with me.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
What's up? River? How old is River?

Speaker 7 (16:12):
Now?

Speaker 3 (16:13):
How old is he?

Speaker 8 (16:16):
Think that.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Ten? You know what? Kelvin? You don't know this, but River?

Speaker 1 (16:22):
How old was he when I brought him his first
pair of Jordan's, Marty.

Speaker 8 (16:26):
I think he is here four or five?

Speaker 3 (16:30):
That's what. So you just run around?

Speaker 4 (16:31):
You were running around like just getting everybody their first
pair of Jeordan That's I don't Dan's.

Speaker 8 (16:37):
He's wearing the Lucas right now, but he plays in
Curry's wowne.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
All right, Marty, where are you this? I just don't
talking about changing the plant. Just play the game. Who's
talking about changing anything?

Speaker 7 (16:51):
Well?

Speaker 8 (16:52):
This is five. Always hesitate to take ad from players. One,
they're young and they're in their feelings, and I think
I'm on Rale Saint Brown is in his feelings right now.
If they lose this game, they won't be the first
team that took a hit from this. I mean, how
many years has the NFC South, you know, had the

(17:14):
winner have a losing record? Thank yeah, some other team
of the winning record gets it doesn't get in the
playoffs at all. So you got to keep the division important.
Those six games of the year are very important, especially
to the loyal fans that come to games. I've been
to every AFC Norman one.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Hundred percent, Marty.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
That's a part of what do the teams you want
to see the region that you can make the trip
right to go to those games, Marty.

Speaker 8 (17:41):
It's it's important, Yes, it's important, and it's a it's
a it's good business and I know how it feels,
but business is business.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
All right, Marty, Hey, thank you for the call. He's
looking at the NBA and that's what he's doing.

Speaker 7 (17:55):
Right.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
They have division winners.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
You're in the playoffs, but that doesn't mean your seeding
is going to be you know, you're gonna you can
be still the eighth seed even if you won your division.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
That's what he's trying to reference. He being on gonna say.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
Round God in North Cata, Lerca. You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. Happy new Year, Scott.

Speaker 9 (18:12):
Thank you, thank you having new year.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
How y'all doing doing good?

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Feeling good on a Friday? What's up? Man?

Speaker 9 (18:17):
Yes, sir, I gotta agree with Rob. This sounds like
he's putting that built excuse already if when.

Speaker 8 (18:23):
They lose, you're telling me all year y'all.

Speaker 9 (18:25):
Been a dominant offense, putting up forty to fifty points
having lost on the road. I don't think they lost
at home, and all of all of a sudden, you
need one more game to solidify your spot in the playoffs.
And you're talking like you're scared, right like, like.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Oh, why can't just be answering the question?

Speaker 1 (18:42):
Rob, you don't have to answer every question. I keep
telling you that I can't argue with that.

Speaker 9 (18:46):
He answer little Dan Cambell, who built up the energy
of biting me caps going for it for fourth down
and being but when the time has to be aggressive,
you talking scared.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
I ain't thank you for the cost.

Speaker 7 (19:02):
Guy.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
He ain't talking scared, he answered the question. And if
you know the Lions, they go man, man up. But no,
I think it is it's just an anomaly, right, none
of us. We haven't seen it in so long, Rogie,
what was the last I know? You said it was
another time? Do you actually remember when it was? When
it was something like that?

Speaker 5 (19:15):
Yeah, according to CBS, Now it wasn't this exact kind
of thing where it came down to week eighteen that
like never happens, right. But another situation was the year
of the Music City Miracle Tennessee Titans. Titans and the
Jags both had at least thirteen wins.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
Now they had thirteen. Oh yeah, I had forteen ninety nine.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
Yeah, so they ended up having to go on the
road and had the Music City Miracle that ended up
being the difference. Right.

Speaker 7 (19:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
So so I mean they twenty five years, it doesn't happen.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
That's what I'm saying, they don't.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
Yeah, I agree to the NFL is not gonna change
the thing because of something that happens twice every year.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Right, But you've gotta be like, Okay, we gotta rethink this.
There's no reason to have a heart attack over go
out when it's gonna It absolutely sucks.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
If you're the Vikings organize right that you had this
amazing season, Sam Donald, it's totally bad.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
For the Lion.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
No, no, I said the Vikings. I'm that serious. Wait,
why is it not bad for the Vikings? Because the
game is where what do you mean? Where's the game
being played in Detroit?

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Okay? If the Vike no one expected. The Lions are favorites? No, no, no,
yes are they? I don't know that they rob you?
Are they favorite? Minus three?

Speaker 4 (20:23):
The Lions are favor But I'm saying no, no, no,
I'm saying the scenario now, if the Vikings lose and
they have to go like you were, fourteen to three,
it's moved to two and a half rocks by the
time we get By the time we get there, did
you see my mighty?

Speaker 1 (20:35):
My point is that you're the Vikings coming in the Lion, right,
The Lions are the favorite, so you go in you're
not expected to win. The Lions are the ones whose
feelings will be heard if they lose at home.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
But you know, the Vikings have this amazing season, Sam Donald,
is you know light MVP CA and then they go
fourteen three.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
They gotta be the fifty. People didn't even pick them
to make the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
No, right, but that was back in August. We're in
now January. But I'm just saying who has more pressure?
It's not the Vikings. It's not the Lions went to
the NFC Championship game last year.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
I guess what I'm saying, I'm not denying who, like
Rob James, who do.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
You think has more pressure? It's harder to be the
favorite at home playing.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
I guess we're saying two different things.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
I'm not asking like the Lions are trying to get
back to the super Bowl and the Vikings have been a
fun story, Like where did that come from? What I'm saying,
I'm saying now present day to reality. I sit here
fourteen and two, I could be fourteen and three of
the Vikings and now I'm a fifth seed. Like that sucks,
period that you have this amazing record, amazing season.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Not if the game is in Detroit against a team
that hasn't lost.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
There, right, No, they've lost at the crib the Bills
two losses are at the crib, seven and on the road.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Yeah, yeah, all right, be sure to catch live editions
of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussa and Rob Parker
weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
Sean King joining us now comany life at the Tireck
dot Com studios. That's right, every Friday, form NFL Quarterback,
Fox Sports Radio, NFL Analysts Real Sean King on social
media and we are down with the King?

Speaker 3 (22:21):
What up? Brother?

Speaker 7 (22:23):
Then? What's happening? What's happening?

Speaker 3 (22:24):
How are you a?

Speaker 1 (22:28):
I just you're out in Vegas twenty and a half
for the Ravens. I mean, seriously, Shaw, like that's a
bad college football game.

Speaker 7 (22:38):
All say is this, It's never as easy as it looks. No,
bugs are two touchdown favorites against the same FL Like
something's changed, is gonna happen tomorrow, So don't get carried away.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
No, I'm just saying like that, that's what you're saying.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
That's almost yeah, forsing you to put money on the
the Browns.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Right right, I mean that's what Vegas lewis. Please please,
they're trying to get people.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Because when we saw the Ravens take on the Giants, right,
what was that thirty five to nothing or whatever, you
know what I mean, And that's kind of what I'm
expecting that it would be ugly, But I wouldn't bet
that game at all.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Yeah, you just got to stay away from it. It
is dangerous.

Speaker 7 (23:15):
And what I would say is, I don't know exactly
what the team total is for the Ravens because I
don't have that in front of me, But I'd be
more comfortable with that's somewhere twenty four undertaking Ravens team
total and not worrying about the spread. Like there are
different ways to bet a game like that where you
really like the Ravens but as bad as the Browns look, Like,

(23:36):
what if the Ravens are up twenty four zi.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
And they just get bit That's what I said, you right,
and then they could just run the ball and just
get over righty Hey, we were just talking about aman
Ron say Brown for the Lions talking about the you know,
the positioning and seeding of the playoffs and how it
needs to change. He wants to be basically saying like
the NBA, where yes, you won your division, but they
go by the record, so you can win your division
but still be an a seed, not to case in

(23:59):
the NFL where the Vikings or the Lions, whoever lose,
is going to be a fifth seed. Where do you
come out on that something to consider or now it's
been great for you know, fifty years, leave it as is.

Speaker 7 (24:08):
I'll be honest with you. I think the NFL and
the college football playoffs, if you win your conference, you
automatically are in the tournament. But then they should reseed
it before the playoffs start. And I say that being
a Bucks fan and we've kind of gotten a home
game in the first round. I went in the South

(24:28):
where we have not really.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
You know, a lot of teams in the South riot
on the panthersday.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
That a bunch with cam.

Speaker 7 (24:35):
Right, I don't think they should reward you in that
way because you want a weekly vision like the same
thing in football, there's no way to meet that. Boyd State,
Arizona State should have gotten a buy in the first round.
There's no way. In my opinion, Oregon should have got
Ohio State in the second and Penn State's in the
semifinals by beating SMU and boy like they gotta tweak

(24:56):
it a little bit. I like it better than the
fourth man playoff to tweak the college football playoffs just
a little, and I think that's the change theation making
the National Football League reward the team has been dominant
across the entirety of the year, not the team that
won a week division.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
How about what games should we be looking at?

Speaker 1 (25:15):
Obviously we talked about the Bucks, We talked about the
Lions and the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
Where are you in that game? Who's gonna win that game?

Speaker 7 (25:23):
I mean, the Lions are such a enigma, right Like,
there's so average on defense, and.

Speaker 8 (25:30):
The coach is so like color outside the.

Speaker 7 (25:33):
Lines for no reason all the time. At some point
it's gonna bite him, right Like, So I think this
might be a game and I'm going Minnesota. I'm going
to underdog here. I mean, I just think Minnesota's defense
has been more consistent there. You go, as much as
you may like Dan Campbell and his you only live once,

(25:54):
live on the edge. I mean, that's gonna hurt him
at some point, right to go for it on fourth Bell,
regardless of it's gonna catch up at some point.

Speaker 4 (26:01):
There's a lot of hoping in that on You're like, right, right,
I mean, it's that's all right, Sean.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
I think that ultimately, because he's now played himself into
a thing where he has to live up to the.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Filing, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (26:16):
And that and that, and that's where that's the scary
part I agree with that is that is that you
shouldn't have to play that role. If this got you
to this point, now, now win the game. Do what
you need to do to win the game, hoping. And
that's what he didn't do right in the NFC Championship game,
because had he taken a couple of.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
Field goals, you would have been kicking a course.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
You would have kickn a game winning field goal is
go to the super Bowl at the end, sean, you
know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (26:39):
Or the forty nine ers is so defeated because they're
down so much. I completely I completely agree with that.

Speaker 7 (26:44):
I want to think about think about Dan right quick
for the move on. For a guy that seems so
in tune with like energy and culture and positivity, he
has no feel for momentum on game right.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
But well, okay, let me let me push back on that.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
You say that, but I don't know that, And this
is coming from somebody who's literally watched, you know, every
Lion snap for the last forty years. I've never seen
a Lion team be more in tune and intat with
their with their coach and their staff, like I've never
seen this, So like what you it seems like the
team has completely bought in in everything they do.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
So where where do Why do we say that?

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Then?

Speaker 7 (27:25):
So I'm not talking about him and the team. I'm
talking about the individuality of what every contest is. Like
last year at San Francisco, like, you gotta kick that
field goal, right, you can kind of feel the momentum
in a game, y'all will dominating.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Right in the second half, Right, they gave up twenty
seven unanswered points.

Speaker 7 (27:46):
Heetering on switching. You gotta kick that field goal. But
I agree with Rob He's I think now he's kind
of backed this up in a corner, and I just
don't know if that's the approach that you're gonna win
a championship with. We'll see. It's letna be fascinating to watch.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
It really will be. If Lamar has a big.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Game in the first half three touchdowns, run for another
one or what hour two to run for one? Is
he gonna win the MVP? I mean, Josh Allen is
going out there to kneel down on his first snap
or whatever. Uh and and you know for.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
The the thank you for the season, appreciate that. Yeah,
what is that gonna look like?

Speaker 7 (28:24):
First of all, what in the hill is say Kwan
Barkley thinking you mean him or the team like him?
Like almost? I feel like as much as I don't
think they would give it to a running back, if
somebody broke the single season all the time rushing yard record,

(28:46):
I mean you might even see the first running back
win MVP. And before you tell me that he played
more games than Eric Dickerson, he has less rushing attempts
than Eric Dickerson had in a game less season, So
why wouldn't he go get the record?

Speaker 3 (29:03):
It's not him. He wants to meaningless game. Sean. Here's Sean.
It ain't just him playing all the guys.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
If you lose your offensive lineman in a meaningless game,
you can't improve your your status or or you can
rest all those guys. If he wants that, everybody has
to play. It makes a big difference. And there's no
buy they have to play next week.

Speaker 7 (29:33):
That doesn't mean greatness even been easy. It's mine. You
gotta take risks. You can't be afraid of failure. When
you're chasing greatness. You can get somebody hurting practice. Where
are you gonna not practice next week before the playoff.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
Game, Sean, Seante, Let me be honest. If Sorianni plays
him and he gets hurt, I'm just saying.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
Don't tell me. No, no, no, they would, they would
run him out of town. How was he playing in
the Meadless game. We're trying to make a Super Bowl run.

Speaker 7 (30:07):
Being a former player, I just think we go, we
show up, and we playry.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
So why so why isn't Patrick Mahomes playing? Why not? Why?
Why would they want to go in? Why is he
not playing? Then? Shawn? Finish the season out? Why isn't
Josh Allen playing? Finish the season out? Your players? You
could get hurt in practice. Just play. None of those
guys are playing.

Speaker 7 (30:31):
None of them are that close to something that would
put you in a separate category than everybody else.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
If you during the hole course of a game.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
If they were playing in the Lions Vikings game, then
of course he's playing.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
Sean, I'm with you. I'm saying it all the last
two three weeks, man, you go for that record, you
mess around, don't make it in the playoffs, you losing
your first game, and how's all or not you go
for that record and not gonna get it, and it's
against the Giants.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
I get to revenue guaranteed.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
The Giants will be going after him saying we running
and that to you.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
We're gonna put twelve in the box.

Speaker 4 (31:08):
We getting were trying to get the record, we're trying
to show the Giants and we're trying to win a
super Bowl all in once.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Why not the box you put the extra coaching out
that the owner, the general manager will be out there
on the line. Let him get it.

Speaker 7 (31:24):
Hey, what about the irony in breaking it versus the
team that didn't think that he was worse being compensated
what he wanted.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
That would mean, that's what That's why I wanted to
do it. We have time for quick. You have a
football pick quick.

Speaker 7 (31:43):
No, don't bet this weekend unless you're doing player props.
A lot of guys have some contract incentives. Take the
time to really research and look it up. Pick which
one you like, because those guys will be trying to
get the bag. Trust me, all right?

Speaker 3 (31:57):
All right, thank you man, Happy New Year. To you.

Speaker 4 (31:59):

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Earlier in the show, we gave you some news about
what's happening with the whole Jimmy Butler Miami Heat Soka
going on where Jimmy Butler was asked and he said,
I'm trying to get my joy back and you want
to enjoy playing basketball again.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
And then pat Riley in the heat. But what do
they do?

Speaker 4 (33:12):
They come out and suspend him for seven games? And
I'll Rob g and I mentioned this. We have Mark
Stein on the show not too long ago. Uh, and
I asked him. Then I said, is this something where
the nfl PA, the Players Associated, is going to jump
out and say, hey, hey, hey, hey, seven a suspension?
What's this all about? What was he doing that was
so detrimental to the team? And now Robb G right,

(33:34):
that's what's happened. You got the nfl PA coming out
and taking issue to this.

Speaker 5 (33:37):
Give me the NBA p A, yes, me, NFL yes.
Retarding to ESPN Sean Sharanya and Brian Windhorse, well, don't
tell pat Riley shawncause they might they fight.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
He's a liar. Oh, I'm sorry, I was quoting Pat.

Speaker 5 (33:48):
The Players Association will fire file a grievous to dispute
these seven games suspensions? Union problem though, guys, According to
that Cordin to Shams and Brian Wainhorse, the grievance process
is lengthy and unlikely to stop any kind of suspension.

Speaker 10 (34:03):
Yeah, but seeing baseball, what I like is, you know,
like you play while you're you play, yep, yeah, wow,
I figure this thing out and then and then a
lot of times you're going to see the commissioner or whatever,
and then they usually always reduce it by one game
or whatever it is.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
And and but you get you got your suspension, you
got a little less playing tool.

Speaker 7 (34:22):
Right.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
Yeah, that's that's a fair I mean, it's got all different.
You gotta remember you're playing every day too, right, So
they they do.

Speaker 4 (34:28):
But the union is also strong in basement, well we
you and I have talked about that a couple of times. Yeah,
and the NBA is pretty strong. NFL is the worst
of them all. Uh but yeah, so just kind of
rehashing this, Uh, Jimmy Butler was up for what is
like one hundred and ten million dollar extension.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
Pat Riley and them said, nah, bro, we're gonna, you know,
play this thing out. We'll figure it out later. And
he's just kind of been unhappy. The one thing I
am up, and I'm really asking you guys this outside, Like,
I know he wants a trade, but for from how
I've seen it, I haven't been behind the scenes. I
don't know what he's saying in people's faces around the team.
What has he done that has been so egregious, Like

(35:07):
if you just felt, hey, we're not trading you, We're
not gonna.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
No, no, no. Did you hit a press conference? Yeah, and
he was like, I'm not happy.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
I'm in a little bit before this, but but once
you start talking about that, I'm unhappy.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
You're not happy.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
That's saying that publicly to your teammates that you don't
want to be there.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Oh I want to find my joy.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
I mean, those are things that that's not like like
you can have those concerns, but once you make them public,
you've included now the ownership and management, you've included the
players and the fan base. Now now he don't want
to be here. You see what I'm saying, And that's
what they talk about.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
I guess what I was saying that That's where still
we've seen in any sport you name it, we're players.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
I don't like it here. I'm not happy that happens.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
And I guess this is where I go back to
Pop pat Riley being like the Godfather, right, operating things
on a different type of you know, playing field. Like
most teams were just, hey, you know, we're gonna be
rather him keep that in house right now.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
You know, we didn't like to they did. There's seven
game suspension for that. Do that.

Speaker 4 (36:10):
You've never seen that For that, people have literally punched
people and got two games just the other game that
he's trying.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
To strong arm them, and the money that he doesn't deserve.
But I'm not questioning that.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
What I'm saying is for the organization about it, they've
already said, hey, they weren't trading them. They put all
that stuff out, and the still you don't cover sports.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
Since nineteen eighty six and eighty seven.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
You ain't seventy six, no, I know eighty seven for
certain leagues, let's not be paying attention. I got you
seven games is crazy, rob right, dude, pat Riley is
the Godfather. Only pat Riley could do that. Fox Sports
