That's a story for its old self. And I know
we're talking a little bit about that, such a big deal,
getting excited. We got the NFL playoffs kicking off as well.
But we can act like we don't acknowledge something. Rob today, Alex.

Happy birthday.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
But thank you.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Yeah, I had to get you. I had to get
your hype man.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
You know, I didn't want you to play some you know,
I gotta get some energy up in here.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
That's all good, you know, Thank you very much.
Speaker 7 (03:20):
I'm very uh happy to be alive, happy to be here?
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Are you a which I know the answer, but for
the for the the listening audience, all right. Some people,
a lot, especially a lot of guys, are just like
like you didn't even know, like, oh, your birthday was
three days ago, yeah right, or you're like, yo, it's
my birthday. I'm happy to be alive and sell annoy,
which I'm happy to be alive, you know what I mean.
A lot of like, yeah, I get it. A lot
of people do that.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
I don't. I don't understand what that means to me.
Speaker 7 (03:47):
I'm going to live life to the fullest like everything
that I do. You know that I come in every
day with passion. I've been doing this a long time.
I still enjoy it. I still enjoyed my coworkers, my
friends everything. Last year, a year ago, you know, Rob
G and I were in Los Aengele Lamar Mitchell, you
know what I mean. And I had a big sixtieth
birthday party. This year, I'm not doing that.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
You know.
Speaker 7 (04:09):
Last year was a milestone, a milestone birthday. This is
just great. I'm gonna I bought it some food for
everybody and some cakes or whatever. So we'll just celebrate
amongst ourselves. But I appreciate everybody.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Thank you. No man, again, big birthday, and you know
I had to be better at that. I used to
die and then people like no, and somebody says something
to me. It was great.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
They kind of had an attitude and said, it ain't
about you, it's about people.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
We want to celebrate you.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
We want to be And I was like, oh, because
I there's some psychologist. I've really been deep diving deep
in why I'm like this. But I don't want to
be a burden. I'm one of those I don't want
to I don't want to add that's you know, No,
I'm gonna do anything. You don't have to. Just don't
make a thing. It's like and so we're like, no, man,
we want to be part of we want to what.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Are you doing? What are we doing?
Speaker 7 (04:52):
Birthday is a good thing, so very good. We got
a lot to do, so little time. On this Friday,
a NFL football playoffs are gonna kick off. Alex though
on the birthday cake you should have, you should say,
because Alex laughed he saw the birthday cake that I
have and.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yeah, it's a little off, a little off the numbers,
a little off Rob.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
So Rob, I didn't know you were a toddler. Turning
to today.
Speaker 7 (05:19):
Yes, so I'm gonna put on social media the birthday
cake and it has a number two on it.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
So Alex and Rob g missing quite quite a bit
of bumbers.
Speaker 7 (05:30):
Well, I I want you to know that the mayor
of Los Angeles told me not to put candles on
my cake, you know, with all the fire going on.
She just didn't want to have like there's any chance.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Having been covering this for days now, as you know,
my first job news ain't here.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
There was a little levity there. Yes, you know, I'm
okay with a little levee.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
You had you you, you your habitual line stepper, you
right on the line of the levity.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
But we'll take it.
Speaker 7 (05:57):
Yes, But no, I have the numbernumber two on the
cake because as I looked for the candles, it was
the only one that was marked down was the number two.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
So that was the candle we wound up with for
the cake.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
You know what, Hey, at least this is what we
can say about him if he ain't nothing else. He
consistent number two and rob G times thirty two times
thirty one and a half thirty o's that.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
I'm on this.
Speaker 7 (06:22):
I'm not buying any clothes this year. I'm not spending
and rob G guess what he did. He gave me
a gift card to Marshaw.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
I swear to goodness. I swear to goodness, and I
had that. I had that, but then I was like, no,
I don't want to contribute. No, but but rob G,
that's fair.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Yeah, and I broke in the card.
Speaker 10 (06:39):
Oh cheese cake, but I got go ahead. Robie said,
resolutions are made to be broken. That's rob ain't get
a whole firm forever.
Speaker 7 (06:48):
No cave in because I went to Macy's today and
I showed rob G to receipt. I had a ten
dollars star money. Yeah, so I spent ten dollars and
forty two cents. Okay, so you only spent what what
was there? Yes, okay, read the card, but it's kind
of funny. Ice age, stone age, bronze age, okay, old age.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
And then there's a mirror. Thank you very much. I
appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Yeah yeah, and then I got one more for you too.
But but keep going, keep going. We're good what just
keep going?
Speaker 4 (07:22):
All right? All right, let's uh let's go here. Where
did Rob G? Where are you?
Speaker 7 (07:27):
Okay, Uh, let's talk about Lamar Mitchell today, rob G.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Jump on here the news. I would love to talk
about Lamar Mitchell. I'm Lamar Mitchell, Lamar Jackson, Lamar Jackson.
I'm sorry. One more thing in here? What is this?
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Oh my, oh my, had to get my boy right,
some baby or baby to get my boy right.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Got my phone.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Hold on.
Speaker 6 (07:55):
I was at your leftover gift from the Diddy party.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
No no, no, I'm just saying first was still hard
to find. They're like, we're still out can you believe it?
But the following in the back I had to get
you right. Don't worry about the rest of that yet.
It's one more thing that got you on Monday. But yeah,
look at that. So if any of your crazy wild
predictions things you want to happen.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
Can't believe if.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
The Chiefs go out, or the Lions go out, or
Lamar wins the MVP.
Speaker 7 (08:21):
There you go, you already know, well, let's do that.
Let's start there, Rob g with Lamar Jackson in the
News of the Day, News of the Day, shuck were
you and Calvin? That's what I really wanted.
Speaker 10 (08:32):
I was shook it because we found out in the
mid morning today on Friday that the first Team All
Pro quarterback of the NFL was not the odds on
MVP favorite Josh Allen. Instead, Lamar Jackson ran away with it,
getting thirty first place votes eighteen for Josh Allen. This
(08:53):
is his third first Team All Pro, the third most
NFL history, behind only Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
He's in lead twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Not only that, Rob, this is why I like singing
his praises. This was the same guy they told to
be a receiver, the same guy they said won't have
a place in this league. He should go be a
running back or you know, kind of a GIF gimmick
player HVAC. And now he's setting records with the season.
(09:23):
He is his highest percentage of anything. You look at
highest yard, it's like he's getting better and better, not
just as all he's FASTI no, no, no, no, as a
quarter back. And that's to me, what's been tremendous about
his his career thus far is that he had some
deficiencies and you know what he did, Like many people,
he got better, Magic Johnson knockdown free throws got better, right,
(09:43):
you know, Kobe Airball got better.
Speaker 7 (09:45):
Have you changed your mind now on the on the MVP,
because the whole time you said the narrative and the
writers you said that he played well enough, but you believe.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
That I just felt like the narrative. There you go.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
So I'm gonna still believe that Josh Allen by the
hair on my chinny chin chin, I think is very close.
And last point, I think Josh Allen did this service
the last few weeks, how he played against bad teams,
he just it wasn't horrible.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
One was horrible. I was like, eh, and to credit Lamar,
he just kept being Lamar.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
And then that last week we talked about just not
playing when it wasn't that he necessarily needed it, but
it would have been great. If you're Josh Allen if
I was in his camp to say, let's put an
exclamation point on the season and just not play and
just you know that just wasn't good and such a
close race.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
But rob G, you have changed. You flipped now, right,
I have?
Speaker 7 (10:34):
And that's only because listen to the stat that he's about.
Speaker 10 (10:37):
The history is working against us. Doug Okay, that's because
the last eleven first team All Pro quarterbacks went on
to win the MVP. In fact, we have not seen
a quarterback who was not First team All Pro that
won the MVP that was like a second team All
part it ended up winning since nineteen eighty seven. And
(10:58):
John Elway, well.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
You know started covering the league then.
Speaker 10 (11:01):
That's right, That's that's what I started covering the lab
and as a result, I know you guys are both
degenerate gamblers.
Speaker 4 (11:07):
What's happened now?
Speaker 7 (11:08):
A five hours ago, Oh, Vegas, the consensus MVP odds
where Josh Allen minus five hundred.
Speaker 10 (11:16):
Now you can get a different place, different places, but
minus five hundred this afternoon, now that the All Pro
odds are out, Lamar Jackson minus two sixty.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Is that unbelievable. Vegas is not giving away not giving
away money. That's unbelievable and it is a massive, massive
credit to Lamar if this ends up being the case,
because his whole and he didn't buckle at having Deshaun Jacks,
Derek Henry. You know, we're like, no, this's my team.
I don't want to take away from what I do.
Like it only enhanced him. His numbers went up. You
(11:46):
would think that take away from him. His numbers went up,
He played the best of his year, better than last year,
and he won VP. All the stuff is in the making,
and if he wins it, I'll be happy for him.
I just thought my whole point was it ain't that
he ain't the best. I've said that. Then I just
felt like I thought people were gonna go, oh, Josh Allen,
the numbers are too good that they just that's the
credit to him.
Speaker 7 (12:05):
That he's the numbers are too good. The over forty
touchdowns for interceptions quarterback wait for the fourth best quarterback
waiting in the history of the NFL. That's Harvard Rodgers
has the first two, Peyton Manny has the third, and now.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Are Aaron Rodgers is below that? Yeah, you know what
I mean, Like, let's listen. I don't mind being wrong,
especially when it's the guy I believe he has been
the best. I just thought they were, you know, Like
I said, My whole point was Lebron was the best.
He only won four. Jordan was the best, he only
one five, like it happens. And I just thought Lamar
is the best, and I thought they would be like, yea,
(12:43):
he is. But I never weigh a couple, you know,
I didn't. I never wait, I still listen, it's still
very close. It's not close from this standpoint, thirty to eighteen.
Those people aren't gonna flip their votes for they just
photo for. Those are the same at most, That's what
the same most of them are.
Speaker 7 (13:04):
That's why it's always looked at as a precursor. I mean,
eleven years in a row, right, right, wrong, That's what
I'm saying. That's a precursor to it, because no one,
if you voted for him all pro how are you
not going to vote for him for MVP.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
It makes no sense. So you're not going to change that,
change your vote? Who just did that?
Speaker 10 (13:21):
Well, I will say, even though it didn't happen in
the totality of the vote. The last time something like
this happened. Was we talked about it for Aaron Rodgers
Tom Brady a few years ago with the MVP. There
were voters who voted for tom Brady for All Pro
because his numbers were just incredible, but when it came
to MVP, they thought that Rogers was more valuable. Now,
(13:42):
the problem, though, is you got to flip fifteen of
those guys too many?
Speaker 4 (13:46):
No, right, that's it's thirty to eighteen.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
So that's that's the law. And again one of the
two things. Two things. Also, I think hell Lamar Jackson
is the best player had and not only he's the
ranting MVP and had a better season, so that only
helps his campaign. Secondly, I do believe Sakwan Barkley not
going for the record, not that he was, you know,
running backs don't win it, but breaking a record. I
do think he might have gotten some votes. We've had
(14:11):
former players come on and say, hey, if I had
a vote, I would vote for him. That's been Yeah,
they probably would have taken away from Josh Allen. And
then well that's possible too. And and then I think
Josh Allen again bad little three game stretch where he
wasn't playing great, and the teams he wasn't playing great
against weren't great or good teams. That definitely left that
window open. So he he uh he Golden State worried this.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Thing, all right? He was up three, was up three
to one? All right, t I mean I'm reading I'm
so big stuff? Is his birthday? He'll not act, Rob,
Rob g Did you have to write teas there? Or
I have to read it? It's like when they when the.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Anchors look up trust me, I know teleprompter and they
you know, and it says like, yeah, don't read this,
don't read this.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
No, I wasn't supposed to read this. Okay?
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Yes? Is the NFL?
Speaker 7 (15:00):
Is the NFL MVP officially over? Does Lamar Jackson have
it locked up or not? Where are you on this?
Speaker 4 (15:07):
The NFL?
Speaker 7 (15:08):
And have you changed your mind now that you've seen
the All Pro vote and now you see clear about this?
Speaker 4 (15:14):
It is the odd couple.
Speaker 7 (15:16):
We'll continue this conversation next with you on a funky
flashback Friday, Rob Parker kelvin Washington right here on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (15:23):
Stick and stay hold on, let me read this, please
Alex from Rob Parker and tell everybody it's my birthday
in the US.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
Are good? We're right us off bat to the tax Man
on it eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
That's right, it is the Odd cover, Rod Parker, Kevin
Washington on a funky flash back Friday. We could say
we're flashing back to Friday sixty one years.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Ago, nineteen sixty four.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
That's right, Yeah, that's when our guy was born. Happy
birthday to Rob. All right with comedy lot for Tireck
dot com Studios. Rapid Radios are the walkie talkie for
the playoffs and they are insidn pushed to talk off
for national LTE coverage and no subscription ever. Perfect for
ansign contact with your friends we use around the show.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
You should too.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Go to Rapid Radios dot com now for up to
They should make it sixty one percent off today.
Speaker 7 (16:32):
You know what, just because my best friend Fred he
sent me a Buffalo wild Wings gift card for sixty
one dollars. Yeah, And at first I was like, why
would he send sixty one?
Speaker 4 (16:44):
I thought to myself that was weird, and I was like, shoot,
you making around? Make it to a hundred. You living
it up? All right?
Speaker 1 (16:51):
We're talking about Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson VP, and
you have Lamar running away with the all pro votes
getting thirty to eighteen, and that's been the big sign
of who's gonna win the MVP for the last eleven years.
Is it a watch? Is it giving outs to Lamar?
Have you changed your mind? Is there hope for Josh Allen?
Eight seven, seven ninety nine one Fox?
Speaker 7 (17:09):
So we got let's go Matt and Illinois. You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
What's up, Matt, gentlemen.
Speaker 11 (17:16):
I really appreciate it. I just want to say that
I rarely call sports talk radio shows. I just like
to listen and chill. But with this MVP thing, I
gotta time in.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
Okay.
Speaker 11 (17:25):
Now, I'm a Ravens fan. I've been Ravens fan for
a long time because I was a Brown fan and
they moved to Baltimore, so the MVP by definition, most
valuable player to their team. Lamar Jackson had an all
Pro year, no doubt with the numbers. But where's Baltimore
without Lamar in a regular quarterback? They're still in the
playoffs with Derrick Henry and the rest of the sporting squad.
(17:46):
Are you sure where is positive with Derek Henry and
Derreck Henry and in the tight ends and flycay so so.
Speaker 7 (17:55):
Earlier in the year, Joe Burrow had nine touchdowns in
two games against the Ravens defense.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
Who won those games?
Speaker 11 (18:05):
I couldn't tell you.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
And you know why, because Lamar played even better.
Speaker 7 (18:10):
I'm just saying, I don't say no but to say
to take, but to say to take him off, and
it doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
I just I think.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
I mean, that's crazy, but I do think people this
is why I said I reserved the hair of my chin,
that they're still hope for Josh Allen in that there
are people who really leave that thanks they really believe Josh.
They're acting as if Josh Allen has no one on
his team. That's a big thing. They're saying, who's he
throwing to you? Okay, but he doesn't have Dereck Henry
in his backfield.
Speaker 7 (18:35):
But the AP All Pro and the writers, these are
people covered the league year. This isn't like a fan, right,
These are the NFL writers who are at every game
all year along.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
That's all I'm saying, But that the key part of
that title most valuable, not best, not best offensive, most valuable.
There is the one hope for Josh Allen.
Speaker 7 (18:55):
Right there, Brandon in Riverside, California, You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
What's up, Brandon?
Speaker 12 (19:01):
It was going on, oh Man, happy birthday, Thank.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
You my man, old man.
Speaker 12 (19:12):
Like I've been on. I've been on the same man
when you guys been on with Lamar, I'm rooting for him.
I think, yes, I hope that those numbers that they
took up the polls can secure it, especially because his
last two weeks of this season he's been taken out
of the game early. I do know that because in
Week seventeen in my fantasy league, I won my fantasy
(19:34):
league because the guy I was going up against he
had Lamar Jackson, and they set him down in the
second half and he already had thirty points and I
was like, oh my god, But anyway, do you win. Yeah,
I wanted the lead because of that.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
Boy, you better be rude for Lamar Jackson for the
rest of the year, no doubt, no doubt.
Speaker 7 (19:52):
I believe it. Thanks Brandon, appreciate you me. How about
the Garrett and Idaho. You're on the EYD couple of
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
What's up? Garret's up?
Speaker 12 (20:01):
Dad?
Speaker 11 (20:01):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (20:01):
Guys? How are you good man?
Speaker 2 (20:04):
I wanted to call in. I was. I was hearing
you guys talk about the the MVP race, and I think, uh,
I think Josh is the MVP this year. They don't
have enough. They had like two Pro Bowlers and when
you look at the stats, Lamar stats have been unreal.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
But you know that's the reason he wins the MVP
this year. Then he probably shouldn't have won it last year.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
But that's not true.
Speaker 7 (20:28):
Last year he had ten wins against even this year.
You know what I looked at. This year, they beat
pretty sure the game.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (20:36):
Last year they beat ten teams over five hundred. This
year I think he was He beat seven teams that
had winning records like he It's not like he wasn't
beating anybody like I don't want people to make it
like like he didn't beat anybody. I don't have it
right in front of me, but they were they were
still impressive, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
Like there the wins that they did.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Have, yeah, but losses, and I did think that would
hurt him too. Uh, that was more so than the wins.
Speaker 7 (21:04):
I thought those had two losses and run where that
kicker missed some field goals as well.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
And I think people look at that.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Yeah, I still think that hair on that chinny chin
chink is the same narratives we just got from these
calls happened. There's people saying, don't enough, don't have a vote?
His stats were better, but look what he did.
Speaker 7 (21:21):
Let me think this is gonna flip after it's eleven
years in a row.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Some the first time for everything.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Dang it all right, let me hang on to it,
Tom Brady loot, Okay, let's.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
Let me have this. We'll argue some more. Hey, good conversation.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
If if what we've seen is true that by Lamar
winning all pro thirty votes to eighteen over Josh, then
the question is he's the man, he's got three MVPs.
Is there more pressure now for him in the playoffs?
Will have that conversation after we see what's trending with
Steve the Seger.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker week days at seven
pm me Stern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
On a funcky flashback, Oh my sixty one years ago
was Rob Parker was born?
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Happy birthday to Rob. All Right.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
So there's the thought is if Lamar Jackson has sealed
the deal, third MVP, twenty seven years old, it's been
to the postseason all these years, but hasn't had the
success in the postseason you would desire. Is there more
added pressure now that he once again is the MVP.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
I don't think he's added I think it's the same pressure.
Speaker 7 (22:34):
I don't think he I don't think he goes in
the seasons saying I want to win the MVP. You
just play and you win because you're that good. So
I don't think there's any added pressure. I think that
there's the same pressure until he can break through. There
are always gonna be people that are gonna use that
and hold it against him, which I get. Josh Allen
(22:55):
is the same way all great players. There's expectations. Dan
Marino went to the Super Bowl his second year in
the league, never went back. You don't think people were
talking about that was Dan Marino ever gonna get back?
Speaker 4 (23:08):
When is he gonna get back? Those are expectations because.
Speaker 7 (23:10):
People believe in you and think you're that good and
you deserve to win or you will win. So I
think it's external, But I don't think it's internal pressure
where he's like, oh my god, I gotta win this year. No,
he's going he wants to win. I don't doubt that
for one second that he just wants. He wants to
win a super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
And that's why you play, and not only that's why
you play, that's why you get better.
Speaker 7 (23:33):
Right, he played well last year against the Texans and
then they had that crazy game plan.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
We all watched that game. Hey, he talked about it recently.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
I don't even want to Roger if we do have
that sign it off from Lamar talking about what he's
been why he's had these playoffs six struggles. He said
that you know, he was just kind of overthinking it
and he just wasn't at ease. And he feels much
more at he's and Obviously, anytime you're in a big
time pressure ize situation, that's the tended you know, you
ever think it. But I love the fact that he
(24:02):
continues to get better, he continued.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
He doesn't.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
He didn't come in the league and just say I'm
better than everybody fast and everybody more talented, and they
take that. He keeps getting better. And to me, when
I see that mixed with this talent, that's only gonna
lead to to a Super Bowl appearance.
Speaker 7 (24:15):
You got that, And then then and then the second
part is right, last year didn't have a Derek Henry.
They were doing it by committee to running back and
last lost in that In that game where they lost,
Uh Chiefs, they rushed the ball for like four or
five times from their running back.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Can you imagine that? Like seriously, like what gamest and
fired if he did that with Derek Henry.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Lamar Jackson speaking Lamar Jackson, here's what he had to
say about the playoffs and his lack of success.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
Yeah, I appreciate his honesty, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
He knows these are big games. He wants to perform well.
And he didn't say it, but I think I'm right,
and I'll say it for him. I do think there's
an element of him that wanted to prove everyone wrong
that I can win these games on my arm. Now
my legs, not mathleticism. We talked about my arm. I
think he a little bit of him wanted to prove
the doubters wrong in that regard. And with that you
(25:18):
sometimes take away your superpower, which is you're gifted and
talented enough to do both. And I think he kind
of took away a superpower by being hell been on
proven that he can win it with his arm.
Speaker 7 (25:29):
Do you remember for me this year was that throw
to Bateman. Remember we talked about yep, and through the
forty or five yards right on the money, right on it,
like the window is this small and the only place
that could go. And I looked at that. That was
a guy that people thought couldn't throw them.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
And he's done that now another ten times this season
where he was running, run and running and just you know,
hit the guy right on the money again.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
He has become superman.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
Uh. But yeah, he's at that place where the greats get,
you know, where that place says we expect you to
win one, We already know you're gonna win ten eleven, twelve,
thirteen games. Now we already know you're gonna be an
MVP candidate, But Lebron James, can you win a championship?
Michael Jordan flying through the air, You won an MVP
(26:15):
seven championship. I remember I.
Speaker 7 (26:17):
Was covering the league back then, and people are like, well,
he's a great player, but he doesn't make anybody better.
He doesn't win because them. Yeah, and that's what they said.
That's where you gay said. And here's the other thing
we talked about off the air. Say he does win,
he's got three MVPs before. Right, if he wins this,
which I believe you will by twenty seven his birthdays.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Yep, is he ate twenty eight? Ye, he'll be eighty seven.
Speaker 7 (26:41):
Okay, twenty seven, but he'll be twenty three before twenty
at twenty eight. And if he wins a super Bowl
and he can like just play and rely and like
that's the monkey's off his back, so to speak. Can
you imagine what this guy, what damnage he could do
the next I mean, he's already got he'll have three
MVP Aaron Rodgers has four.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
He will have people he didn't think four years ago
he would have because he's not a good passer. He
can't do that.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
He's only a runner. He's just an athlete, not really
a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
Well, we're gonna start having some conversations in the next
three to four years if he keeps going at this rate.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
And gets one maybe two.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Didn't you saying, all right, well, let me think because
he's gonna start knocking some people out, Like, does he
not got a jam?
Speaker 4 (27:25):
That way?
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Does he knock I'm not saying we don't. We have
time and you not talking about this. I'm saying, but
he starts to be coming. Oh well, shoot, is he
better than Aaron Rodgers? Is he better than an that way?
Speaker 4 (27:35):
You know?
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Is he better than a Peyton? Peyton was a pure passer.
But you start to have he's you know, and I'm
not saying he is, but you start having.
Speaker 7 (27:43):
The five m vps and what's seven all pros? That's
pretty impressive for real. But not even when he's seven.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
No, I know.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
Him to have seven more years of around this. Maybe
it's eighty percent of it, you know, but he ain't.
I don't think he's going anywhere. And he's proven us
he takes his craft seriously and only wants to get better.
Speaker 10 (28:03):
Bob G jump in this question might sound blasphemous. I
think it's appropriate given what we got today.
Speaker 4 (28:09):
I think I know where you're going is go ahead.
Speaker 10 (28:11):
If he gets the super Bowl this year, which is
not out of the round of possibility, for sure he
gets it. And and I'm assuming if he wins, he's
probably gonna be the envy because.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
He's the quarterback. Just that's the way it works out.
Is he suddenly in the Mahomes.
Speaker 10 (28:24):
Conversation, where like, hey, he could also be the guy
who's in that Tom Brady got debate. Yes, because individually,
his accolades are.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Gonna be or better, are right, right, right because of
the especially the last two years with Mahomes right, and
that helps.
Speaker 7 (28:42):
That helps, And if all he has to do, he
doesn't have to because Mahomes is what three and one
yes correct. So so say he wins too and without
a loss or something, and he's piling up these other numbers,
you'll start to look at it during this it's listen,
it's because of his other accolades. But of course he
has to win super Bowl to even get in that conversation.
(29:04):
But Rob G, I don't think it's outraged because.
Speaker 10 (29:07):
It's very similar to Peyton and breaking down there you go,
Brady was not viewed as the greatest until he got
like number five, right.
Speaker 7 (29:15):
But but yeah, because he also passed Joe Montana, who
had the far and that's when when it flipped because
it wasn't like that. Don't forget Brady. And here's the
other thing with Mahomes that that could possibly happen. He
could have a Brady like where Brady won three early, right,
and then went nine years without winning.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
Like as the Chiefs get older and any weeks like there's.
Speaker 7 (29:40):
A chance that the Chiefs have to say they don't
win this year, just say okay, and then they go
nine years or eight years, Mahomes a little older, right,
all of a sudden his career and then the last
you look at him in the last seven or eight
years and you go, well, you know what, Lamar ran it.
Speaker 10 (29:57):
And then to go back to the Brady conversation, why
I said until he got five, that was when it
was kind of like, all right, well, there's no debate anymore.
I'm not even talking about just the Montana that I'm
talking about of his generation, right, it was no I
think Payin's better. Payn's got the five MVPs, got all
the All pros, even though he only has one Super Bowl.
He's a better quarterback than Tom Brady and Lamar is
(30:17):
gonna he could theoretically have that going for him, where
he has, you know, four MVPs and five first team
All Pro whatever it is.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
And suddenly it's like.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
His conversation conversation is going at one thousand percent. And
especially I keep banging on this point because he's become
a better passer. I think if he was doing this
but still subconsciously he's just an athlete, it's just now
people would have they wouldn't want to have given him
a hiss full credit, you know, but now that he's
actually a legit passer just as good as all these
(30:47):
other guys, if not as a passer, and it's not
as aesthetically pleasing his throat, I do think that also
hampers him a bit.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
But I think you have to strongly consider.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
And this is why when I said, I have been
saying all year, he's a better player in the NFL.
By no, no, no, you come on, Patrick, He's still He's
still I'm I know, Patrick makes clutch play.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
He's not.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
Patrick has the history, but people get the layer. They
think it's a lifetime achievement and that you can't Petrick
will one like, nah, I gotta be forever. I gotta
be forever and you gotta admit And we talked about
it they were fifteen and two. This year he's not
in the All Pro conversational.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Or and it was a conversation because of him. Their
defense bailed him out. He made the right play every
you know, when he needed to. But no, Lamar Jackson
to me, has become the best player because I don't
know what to do with him as a defense. Stop
to pass, he runs all over us. Stop the run.
He passes all over us. He's making big throws. He's
making throws that we didn't think he could make. And
that's why to me, And again, it's a fluid thing.
(31:42):
Josh Allen might be the best player next year, you
know what I mean. It's a fluid situation. But uh,
all right, we'll continue to see. We've got secle city

Speaker 7 (32:46):
Last night I was looking good with Penn stayed up
ten to nothing.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Thank you, thanks a lot. I thought I had that
one in.
Speaker 7 (32:52):
The bag and Philip and I had the other one
that I thought I was in good shape too.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
Was the Miami Heat. They needed to win.
Speaker 7 (32:59):
By six, State one by five, so they screwed me
as well. I did have Golden State plus four and
a half about the Pistons. Here we go tonight, best
bet I'm taking Ohio State minus six. That's my best
bet tonight. I'm taking Philadelphia minus five and a half.
Speaker 11 (33:17):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (33:17):
They're hosting the Pelicans without Zion right because he got.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
Suspended for one game. Yep.
Speaker 7 (33:24):
And I got the Milwaukee Bucks minus six and a half.
They're in my in Orlando taking on the Magics. So
the Bucks minus six and a half, Philadelphia minus five
and a half, and Ohio State minus six. And remember
what's Helvin. I'm not telling you who to bet on.
I'm telling you who I bet on.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
Making my post to you right now, you wouldn't know
what I said. What's that?
Speaker 1 (33:47):
It's a happy birthday to my man Rod Parker. The cheapest,
most splurshing dude, I know. Oh then I put in
parentheses Gucci shirt but can't buy two candles. There you go,
that's the best way to describe you. Ro has on
a good shirt but won't buy two candles.
Speaker 4 (34:03):
I'm not paying for two candles. Make it make sense,
robb g, It don't make sense. You know Rob? You
know Rob' never made sense. Robb G.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
You know I've told you my wife and I own
a brand shopped to Misfit active Wear, and we used
to have a store in Glendell Gallery out here.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
Blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
My point is, I know what it takes to make shirts,
what people spend on these shirts and jackets, is that
it don't cost on that.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
But dagga, you can't buy two little pieces of wax.
Speaker 7 (34:27):
No, no, not at full price if they were marked down.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
On Do you have one six laying around because you
can keep the two for next year when you're sixty two?
Speaker 4 (34:37):
Do you think I'm throwing that two away?
Speaker 1 (34:38):
So I'm saying you should have a six as well?
Right if it's yeah, mineus six.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
It might not match, but it'll be all right.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Nobody's asking. It's a bunch of dudes in here right now.
I know we don't care. We ain't asking about nothing,
all right. You just mentioned James Franklin, Penn State up
ten feeling like this might be it. We spent a
whole segment or two yesterday talk about he's got to
get it done.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
This might be the last run for him.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
If he loses it, might be trying to fire in
his record against top ten teams is the top five
teams terrible?
Speaker 4 (35:09):
And he's like, what is it?
Speaker 1 (35:10):
One in fifteen yep one and fifteen now one and
fourteen yesterday when we were talking about it, and he
and by the way, that's I didn't know when I
found that Joe Paternal stat. It was kind of staggering too,
because where we ranked Joe Paternal think I had it.
What I say is three and fifteen. I think it
was three and fifteen against top five teams. From himself,
it's like, dang, Joe, Clearly this is the institutional thing.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
Y'all are not getting it done.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
But now the question is, you said, fired, man, how
you feel after that loss last night?
Speaker 4 (35:36):
Come back lost?
Speaker 7 (35:36):
It's hard when your quarterback has a terrible interception and you.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Ain't thrown across the middlefield when we got the ball
with fifty seconds left.
Speaker 7 (35:43):
Ain't the right thing to do. No, it's not the
right thing to do. And there you go.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
And that.
Speaker 7 (35:48):
So there were circumstances where you look at the game
and go, dude, really like, like that is not the
right play. You're throwing the path behind his back, remember
behind the back right now?
Speaker 4 (35:59):
But no, what are you doing?
Speaker 1 (36:00):
That's one of the greatest gifts of all time, as
in not gifts like a birthday give, but the g
I f a gift. Just you remember that when when
they put the ball, but it was the change, the
O'Brien whatever, the Larry O'Brien trophy, and it's him.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
Throwing it out of bound. I was like, dude, that's
one of the greatest gifts of all time. They just
have him thrown it behind his back.
Speaker 7 (36:18):
But he was doing it like it was a February game,
meaningless game against some bad team where he's like.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
Let me be cute. I'm like, what the finals?
Speaker 1 (36:28):
That was one of the strangest steps moments of his career,
like wait, what are you doing right own casual with
forty a minute whatever left and throw the clay was
looking at him like player, But no, I don't think
he's listen. I get your point. There are you know
what I'm saying. I'm you've heard me say this, and
you will hear me as we continue to do the
show together. I'm not big on firing somebody just because
(36:51):
he coached well enough.
Speaker 7 (36:52):
You can fire somebody if if, if you feel like
you can better, saying with their track record, it's not
like he's played three top five teens.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
You know what I'm saying. I'm agreed. So standing fifteen
is a real number, and.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
That is why he needed it last night to justify
him still being there.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
He didn't get it.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
So I'm at the point where I could see them saying, hey,
really good coach. You're gonna have a heck of her
career in his business, but not with us. We're trying
to become Michigan. We're trying to beat Ohio State, who's
playing right now against Texas. We're trying. Why not we're
penn State. Why can't we be Ohio State or Michigan
in the Big Ten? You got Oregon on our heels
now coming into the Big Ten. We got sc coming.
You know, we need to be up there. So maybe
(37:36):
they go find that other guy. We'll have to wait
and see. We got Speaking of Pennsylvania, the state's go
under pressure right now,
