other job you have to plow through. You know, it's news.
It's a little different, right, that's the thing saying. It's
it's you know, you're kind of I'm not trying to what.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Are you trying to? Don't know what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
No, this that that's why Rob, That's how I know
he don't watch the show. You know what it's like,
no fire, no pun intended. My show be lit man,
But you do. That's how I know you're gonna watch
my show.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
You do radio show? There you go.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
You know you're gonna watch it? First of all, well
not in all seriousness. Yes, the last couple of weeks
with the fires, but no, that's not it. We have
a listen you know how we have a blast on air,
but we also have a blast off air here like
we have a great time.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
You know, so you're doing it today? Shows that what
you're telling me?
Speaker 5 (03:37):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Like, yeah, that's the goal.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
The morning show is supposed to be fun, entertaining, obviously
when you're dealing with fires. Yeah, oh yeah, we gotta
talk about Trump. We got to talk about inaugurations and fires.
There's that element too, and boy, Trump and Trump. He
ain't wait you talking about it, ain't waste no time.
He came in swinging.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
All right, I'm glad we're doing a sports bad. All right,
all right, let's welcome into the Auctor. Tell you ever
tell me to shut up and dribble say that. I
did say that.
Speaker 5 (04:02):
I just said, I'm glad we're doing a sports show.
Let's welcome to the odd couple of crew. We wouldn't
be able to do this five radio program without him.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
I think we'd be alright about this a little bit. No,
I don't think so. I mean, this is seven years
in running. Well, we got to get ready without them.
We got the best crew. They're not going anywhere.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
One of the I'm talking about one of them talk
about Yeah, he'p me go over the three years they
were all just yesterday they both committed to me that
they're going to be on this radio show until I retired.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
But that's how I know. You didn't talk to him.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
I talked to him and after that were we here
for that that one in particular, you didn't talk to
You couldnt leave until I'm yeah yeah, Alex.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Just say yes Alex, but you can wink it's okay,
just say yeah, Rob, You're right.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
Rob G is our producer, Alex is our engineer. Moncey
Belanos is at the anchor desk. What's up Manzi? Not much, hard, guys, He's.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Got something going on with work, That's what I said.
She acted like she came to work to work.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
I came from work, so I am a little bit
you know, like, yes, yeahfully.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
We got bright.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Yeah, you know, I am literally working because I came
from work.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
So yes, I came to work to work.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
You know what It's like, Oh, y'all acting like y'all
came to work and walking around here acting like he
came to work to work today.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
What does the boss up in here or something? Everybody
acting like they were working today.
Speaker 5 (05:17):
I didn't see Scott at all, right, all right, And
Elijah is our social media gurgle.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
He ain't working.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
He's the best in the business as always, all right, Uh.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Rob G.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
Can we get to the news of the day, Rob
The news of the day, Rob G? The news of
the day. We need you as our news of the
day anchor.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Yeah, I'm done with the news, yes for the day.
I did that earlier this morning.
Speaker 8 (05:38):
And if you missed Manti's Award winning up to the
top of the hour, then you would know that Jimmy
Butler has been suspended again, this time for two games
by the Miami Heat. He reportedly skipped a team flight
and as a result, pat riles like, we're not having it.
You're suspended again two games. Jimmy Butler, as his ongoing
trade demands still linger.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Mm hm, you want to start, because I got something
to say, Well.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yeah, you start, I know where you're going. Mine is
more of a rebuttal to you.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
I love what pat Riley's doing here, because at some
point there's got to be a grown up. There's some
point that you have to be professional. They pay Jimmy
Butler every pay period, all the money that he signed
and agreed to a deal. I get it if you
don't want to play there, But guess what, you don't
(06:30):
get to dictate that now. If they held your paycheck
or they didn't pay you all your money because they
said you put in a poor effort. You'd be crying
like a baby that it ain't right and it's unprofessional,
and you signed a deal. I'm all for free agency
and going and doing what you want to do and
being happy, but once you sign a contract, be damn professional.
(06:55):
These guys are all babies. I applaud pat Riley only
from a standpoint that at some point somebody's got to
stop the madness and let people know that that's not
how it works in the business world. You work for
somebody else. Most people, if they if they win against
(07:15):
their balls or the places they worked, they wouldn't be
working there. And I understand athletes are specialized and that's
why they make that much money. But if ownership did that,
people would be crying and going crazy on the owners.
You're going against the contract. I signed the contract. You
(07:36):
said you were gonna pay me a certain amount of money,
and now you're renigging. You know how many guys are
aren't playing and getting paid millions that don't play.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
That that it's ridiculous. We get it.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
When your contracts up, go and turn down the option
with the heat and go sign with you want to go.
You can't put a gun to somebody's head and say no,
you gotta pay a thirty five year old who's always injured.
You ain't win no championship in Miami. They don't owe
(08:14):
you anything. What they owe you the money that they've
paid you. Thank God, there's a pat Riley. All these
other owners buckle. That's all they do. I wish somebody
would if I own the company, said that they're gonna
do what they want to do. Missing a flight, unprofessional,
(08:35):
saying the stuff that he said. That's a distraction to
a team. Unprofessional.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Talk to me.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
I'm in charge, Come into my office, yell at me.
Don't distract the other the rest of the team and
make the fans turn on the organization. That's what I
don't want you to do. And if I'm the other
owners watching Jimmy Butler, who also did this in his
previous stop, I need to do this, I'm not the.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Minnesota say I would not.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
After Jimmy Butler is done with his contracts and turns
down the option in Miami, I wouldn't touch this guy
with a ten foot pole.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
I wouldn't give him anything. I don't care.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Who would want to go and sign up and get
in bed with somebody who's done this and the other
stops that he's been. He's unreliable, unprofessional and as a
big baby when he doesn't get his way.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
It is awful.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
I'm be honest, I didn't know you was this passionate
about Jimmy Butler like you you really had.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
I'm passionate about this damn radio show.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Get on it. I'm going to be a know but
jim Here's the thing though. Number One, you just mentioned
a couple of things. When you sign up for the
Jimmy Butler experience, this is part of the experience. Jimmy
Butler has been doing this so the last two or
three franchises he's been a part of. Now what you
get with Jimmy Butler is you get a guy who
(10:00):
win plays probably gonna miss, you know, a third of
the season. As you mentioned, he's out, whether injury management
or you. The team just says, let's just keep him out.
He's going to be your best player in the playoffs.
You don't have to worry about him competing. You don't
have to worry about him bringing it at night in night out.
I'm with you. It is a distraction. It is unfortunate
at times that you got to deal with this with
star players. But when you sign up for this and
(10:21):
the business we're in, when you sign up for this,
if you're running this, if you've got TV stars and
radio stars, you know what comes with it. You know
what some diva attitudes, you know what some person at
why I can't do this, why he gets to work
with me, you know all that that comes with it.
My concern and disappointment with pat Riley is at a
certain point he's done this before. Are you costing your
(10:41):
team just to hold it down? Are you costing your
team just to be like I'm not budget Because you
know who's been the best player for the Heat the
last three four years. Jimmy Butler. You know who's gotten
him to the finals? Hold on, I'll let you rock.
You know how many Tier roll you know who's gotten
in the finals even have a chance to win. Jimmy Butler.
Jimmy Butther has gotten them to the finals twice. Pat
(11:03):
Riley hasn't done anything outside of Lebron in a long time.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
What are you talking about? Did Dwayne wad win?
Speaker 9 (11:09):
No?
Speaker 1 (11:09):
I'm saying since then, no, But I'm just so I'm
saying no, No, Nobot was let me hear me out. Pat
Riley is a great But what I'm saying is he
went on Dan Lebotard show, because Dan LeBatard have known
him for obviously decades, called them out and he said,
maybe I am washed. Maybe he said, maybe I do
need to go put my feet up somewhere. But he said,
but this is how I am. And if I would
(11:29):
be this compulsive with something else, point being pat Riley
trying to have a monoy mono ego ego stand off
with Jimmy Butler, even if Jimmy is wrong, you're costing
the other eleven to fourteen guys on the team. You're
hamstringing Eric Spostra, who's saying, man, I need help.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
And you know what they keep doing.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
They keep missing big Star because they're holding out for
the big Star. They're not getting them and so now
they're stuck with the same roster, acting like Tyler Hero
is that guy. Tyler Hero is a solid piece, but
he is not one of them. You damn out of by.
You ain't one of them ways, But that's fine.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
So then you can if you ran a business, if
you ran a business, right, you could sit here and
say all that and that was your business and you
were president of the organization, you would have a different tune.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
That's easy for you to sit there now, It's very simple.
I would just a business none of no would a
business owner. You made gravity year row one hundred. Here's
what you're missing. Then you can say there won you Jack,
and you can you ain't did Jack without him?
Speaker 3 (12:27):
But he has been by far your best has been.
What are you bringing up? He won? Okay, he won
the Lakers in eighty seven. What does that matter? He
won with Miami without him? What does that matter? Lebron?
Speaker 1 (12:39):
And so he has got nothing? Okay, So did you
sit there screen that the high have is what you did?
You tell me what you did back in the day.
All I know is Jimmy Butlers all I'm Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 7 (12:50):
Done.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
What I'm saying, you're missing the point. I'm not sitting
here advocating for Jimmy. What I'm saying is get something
for him. Make a move for your team. Now, I'm
not gonna you gotta and then you sit there and
be and you be with you, then you go ahead
and sit there and be nothing. What I'm gonna do,
be nothing with them? I'm not win a championship with
him right now? That makes non get something you want? No, Okay,
(13:16):
they don't didn't be bad, they just be Badn't just
be bad and you're seventy nine years old and be
bad when you're eighty, be bad when you're eighty one,
being bad when you're eighty two.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
They named the court after him?
Speaker 7 (13:27):
What is that?
Speaker 3 (13:28):
They can't? So they retired. You keep living in the past. Retire, retire.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
I'm not gonna allow something to understand. You never want
anything in his life, your hands string and your team
allow This isn't about him, This is about Eric. This
is about the team, about Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 7 (13:45):
Then you being a.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Personal battle, you being a personal chicken battle with him,
and y'all just continue there to be a bad team.
What I'm trying to do is a business person to say,
we're not gonna hate Jimmy. We're not giving you your money, Okay, Cool,
We're not gonna give you what you want.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Cool.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
Jimmy says, I want to trade. I don't trade them
necessarily where he wants to. We figure out to trade.
I do his best for the team. He just sitting there,
Mono a mono and Pat Rodley has done this before.
He talked about it.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Maybe I did.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
I shouldn't have let Lebron go like that easily. He's
talked about it. Maybe I get my my cheese won't.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Get to the won two more championships in the in
the next fifteen years.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
I think pat Rodley did alright with that. How many
did he win? They won two and Lebron won two.
I'm talking about after Lebron.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
No, I'm not I'm saying Lebron only won two fifteen
to only fifteen years.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Haven't You're not he any right now? They literally haven't
won anything since Lebron. No. But and the only person
who's competing Lebron and gave them a chance and shot
is Jimmy No. And you don't want to get You're
not making any sense right now. I'm making sense.
Speaker 7 (14:45):
We can break.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
You're not making any sense anything. You're not making anything backwards.
For God doesn't have any championships. Get out of here.
Just keep screaming at the moment. Yeah, and then y'all
don't have anything.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
How should pat Riley in the heat handle the Jimmy
Butler situation eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine nine six, sixty three sixty nine. It
is The Odd Couple on a Worship Wednesday, Rob Parker
kelvin Washington, right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Be there, Fox Sports Radio, The Odd Couple, Rap Parker
kelvin Washington.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
You see how we're doing already.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
It almost feels like a trash talking Tuesday, except it's
to worship Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Coming to you live from the tire rack dot Com Studios.
Speaker 7 (15:56):

about Jimmy Butler now suspend it again and with pat Riley,
(16:17):
they don't want to make a trade. So now it's
just a standoff to see what's happening. What do you
think needs to happen there? With Jimmy Butler eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox who we got?
Speaker 5 (16:27):
All right, let's kick it off with Andre Dre and
Matthew Sdrace, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
What's up?
Speaker 9 (16:33):
Hey, what's going on? Thanks for taking the call, Listen.
I got to say that I am fully behind pat
Riley in terms of how he's handling this situation old school,
going back to how he got down winning those championships
with the Lakers, going to the New York Knicks, and
then bringing his brand to the Miami Heat. We're not
having this player empowerment. Throw yourself at tantram and then
(16:54):
we're gonna back off in case you got to stand
up and on to the contract. This is what Jerry
Reinstor for tablished him. He's with the balls to the
point where Michael Jordan's had it in his mind you
honor contract, and Michael Jordan knew if he would have
thrown it the same type of fit that you know
as the bull Dynacy was coming to a conclusion. He
knew where Jerry Ryan Thorpe stood. So to Jimmy Butler's point,
(17:14):
Enix Suns are making some moves. They're they're getting picks
together to try to put together a package for you.
But this whole player empowerment stuff. And as soon as
I don't get my way, I'm throwing a tantrum and
everybody came I'm not for it, And I credit pat
Riley with being old school at handling it's bits. Thanks
taking a call.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
Thanks right, I appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (17:31):
How about Justin and Tucson, Arizona. You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Justin?
Speaker 7 (17:37):
Hey you guys, thanks for taking my call.
Speaker 10 (17:39):
I kind of want to echo the sentiments of what
Andre just said. It's, uh, you know, I think if
the deal were good enough, uh you know, despite Miami
saying they don't want to trade him, but the deal
was good enough, they'd move them. So that means to
me that they're not getting deals because this guy is
running himself out of the league by acting like a baby.
And you know, you know, you have to respect the
cloud in the in the tree, you know group that
(18:00):
Riley is. He's telling you and sending a message to
everybody else in that rock locker room. If you don't
want to be here, this is what's gonna happen to you.
Let's focus on playing basketball and winning games. So I've
gotta I gotta agree with you.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
On they win the games up there you go, I'm
with you, justin that's all right, take the yel It's okay.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
He'll take an l too.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
Drew five million next year when you're in the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. I dare him to opt
in on that deal. I dare him, what is it?
Speaker 7 (18:26):
Like?
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Real question? What is it if you're not going to
trade it?
Speaker 7 (18:28):
Was he?
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Why did he not opt for fifty million somewhere else?
Go get five million? I got a new deal somewhere else.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Will you go about this is I'm about to spend
me Give me a fifty five mil. You're in the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 11 (18:41):
Trade him and whoever gets him. You know that you're
getting probably one of the better postseason performers of his generation.
In a way, he's kind of like Joe Flacco of
the NBA, right where Joe Flacco.
Speaker 7 (18:52):
Is the King goes, you know, going in on the road, being.
Speaker 11 (18:56):
An underdog and constantly playing insane NVT level football come
postseason become regular season, this mediocre.
Speaker 7 (19:04):
It's kind of weird like the Ravens.
Speaker 11 (19:06):
That's kind of like how the Ravens used today where
they would go in they would be underdogs. I kind
of like, I see Miami, I see whoever gets kidby Butler.
If you're getting a guy that's gonna win, I think it.
Speaker 5 (19:16):
Well, I'm just saying, you got to honor your contract, Drew,
and at some point somebody has to stand up to
these guys. You can't strong arm somebody into paying you
one hundred and ten million dollars when you're not worth
it and he's not worth it.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Well, could ask you why why we got We gotta
get quickly?
Speaker 1 (19:32):
But why did don't owners have to hover honor their
contract in the sense of they dominate. What I'm saying, everybody, man,
you're here, We're committed to this person, he's gonna be here.
So they do literally, they do this every time around
you at the press conference. Not the trade you release
you got you That's just that's the part of honoring.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
You don't know. You don't have to trade him. That's
not what he trade. You ain't got to trade him.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
You're doing fuzzy math over there. That is not because
you get your money. Whether they trade or not, that's
the contract. What I'm saying, no trade they can trade
you with. What I'm saying is you give me your
here for this pressure and what we're gonna do. Why
do people put no trades into the contract to co traded. Okay,
Then if you don't have one, I can trade you,
(20:15):
then trade me. Okay, That's what I'm asking for. No
Moncey Belanos. What's trending?
Speaker 3 (20:21):
We got Thrma Thomas on the other top today.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
You either be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at
seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
We are coming to you live from the tire rack
dot Com studios.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
It is the eye Cup of Rob Parker and Kelvin
Washington On a worship Wednesday, joining the show, now is
Thurman Thomas of course all pro you know him, Hall
of Fame running back as well. Thurman Thomas is comparing
behalf of the grid Iron greats Assistant Fund g g
af for. They're teaming up with Southern Recipe pork Ryands
to celebrate pork ryand Appreciation Day this year with it's
(21:00):
crunch Time sweepstakes.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
We'll have them talk a little bit more about that. Thurmy,
what's up man?
Speaker 7 (21:04):
How you doing nothing much? Man? I'm sitting there listening
to you guys talking about Jimmy.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
Here we keep it real. I'm just dude.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
You gotta honor your contract. You can't be unprofessional. That
That's my biggest thing.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
I get it. You want to move on, you can
move on, but you gotta be professional.
Speaker 7 (21:25):
Yeah, I get that. How many how many owners and
gms honor their own contract? Now?
Speaker 5 (21:33):
What? But wait a minute, is not when you say
honor a contract, they have not paid a player.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
What are you talking about.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
Have they ever gone out and said, hey, Lebron, you
weren't hurt, but you set out of the game Thursday night,
I'm not paying you. Did they ever do that? No,
they honor the contract. You get your money. Whenever people
when you talk about I'm not honoring a contract or
trading somebody.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
That's why.
Speaker 5 (21:59):
And you you know this Thermoon, that's why people have
no trade clauses written into their contract.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
That's the only time you have leverage. They have a
right to trade you what what's the issue?
Speaker 7 (22:11):
Yeah, well I think they should trade it. I don't
I think they should trade it. They're not playing, They're
not They're not getting anything.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Out of say that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
You should just yourself spite the team. It just threw.
Speaker 5 (22:24):
Okay, I'm knocking y'all just keeping bad. And let me
say this before we get to football and the bills.
I love pork rhymes and I'll tell you this then
you do you do like pork? They fit in the
low carb diet. Go look on the bag of pork rides.
They are zero cars?
Speaker 3 (22:43):
Am I right? Bacon'sman? What am I telling? Am I
telling the truth? I know I eat pork rhymes?
Speaker 7 (22:49):
Yeah yet yep, great protein, fiber, all of it. Yeah,
it's it's great, man. And I've been associated with the
great the Grid nine Grace Association. Fun. Now you know
we started this a couple of months back, and I'll
tell you what, man, it has been phenomenal to really
talk about the players in need, you know, the guys
(23:10):
that didn't make the million dollar contracts, and how they
you know, it takes a lot of pride for any
athlete to come in, you know, and say that they
need help. And these guys and Mike Dicker and Ron
Jawashki and Brian Urlacker, they have done an outstanding job man,
since well Mike Dicker started it back in two thousand
and seven, and they've done an outstanding job with helping
(23:31):
these players who are in need of some financial help.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Let's talk a little football. I appreciate you breaking that
down for us. The Bills, your squad.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Is this the year? Is this the year they can
get past Patrick Mahomes?
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Dude?
Speaker 7 (23:48):
I thought it was. I thought it was gonna be
a couple of years when we had this all, you know.
But yeah, it goes through Kansas City. But you know what,
I don't think a lot of people were thinking that
the Bill were going to be here at this point
and at this position right now because of the off
season things that they that went on in offseason, trading
Stefon Diggs, uh not signing Micah Hyde, Jordan poy Letting,
(24:12):
Trey White go. Uh. Yeah, there were a lot of changes.
But you know what, man, when you have number seven
team back there anything and I do mean anything is
possible with this football team. And I think he's grown
over the years. You know, I think this year was
a MVP level type season.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Was he the m v P?
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Was he the m v P in your mind? And
I mean, try to be objective. I know you played
for the Bills, but be objective.
Speaker 7 (24:37):
The objective it should have went to Saint Huan Barker.
Speaker 5 (24:40):
No, it shouldn't. There you go run and you know this,
and you know this. This is a This is a
throwing league, now Theurman, It ain't when you played. This
is a quarterback league.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
And you know that.
Speaker 7 (24:54):
I do. I totally understand that. But I had to
throw some love out this all right, Well that's because
he's a runn.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
He deserves some votes. I mean, you can't be mad
at the idea of sakwan uh, but you know this, Thurman,
without a quarterback, you can't win in this league?
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Is that true? Am I right?
Speaker 7 (25:12):
Without a doubt?
Speaker 9 (25:13):
You know?
Speaker 7 (25:14):
And that started way back with Peyton Manning and all
those Philip Rivers and all those guys. They were just
throwing the ball all over the place. And that trend
has continued, uh, you know, pretty much until this year.
I mean, Derrick Henry was right there, Saint Corners, right,
Josh Jacobs, you know, James Cook who was running back
for the Bills.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
There was a resurgeon stuff without.
Speaker 7 (25:34):
It back this year, No doubt it hasn't been And
I think that's some of the you know, the things
that have changed over the course of the years, because
it was such a passing league and you're trying to
get these pass rushers that there's not a lot out
there pass rushers, and so some of these offensive coordinators
like Ben Jonson just got the head coaching jobs. Hey,
we're going to run the football. We're gonna be physical upfront,
(25:57):
and if you want to play your your package, go
right ahead. We're gonna run the ball right now in
your throat. And so I don't know if the times
are changing, but it's great to see that the running
game has started.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
Against Ill tell you what.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
Thermit Thomas is our guest former NFL MVP. You saw
him get down with the Bills for so many years.
Speaking of running, we were just talking about Saquon rob
and I argue for a little bit, would you have
wanted the record? Would you have made sure your coach
let you go for the rushing title, the all time
rushing yards leader, or would you just let them say no,
we're going for something greater.
Speaker 7 (26:31):
Man, I would have I would have let go for
that record. Man. Its just it's just not too many
times where you're gett an opportunity to break a record
like that that it stood for what forty years, held
by Eric Dickerson and the team. You know, hey, look,
this offensive line was no joke for the Philadelphia Eagles
this year. They could have very easily gotten ta Quan
one hundred yards and yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
What happens if he gets hurt?
Speaker 7 (26:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (26:54):
I mean you played football, guys get hurt, and not
only that. Let me just be honest.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
I'm gonna go, what if one of those linemen right
gets hurt when you're running in a game that doesn't
matter to the team, and then somebody goes down in
a game that really doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
I get it.
Speaker 5 (27:14):
If you got it in the natural course of the season,
no problem, But in a game that doesn't matter. You
put yourself open to criticism. Now they are one game
away from going to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 7 (27:26):
Let me tell you some all games matter no matter what,
because even if you don't put your starters in there,
those guys that are second team or whatever, it matters
to this. So don't say it doesn't matter, because it does.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
So why did I Mahome now played the last time
of the year. Why did he not?
Speaker 7 (27:41):
You don't you don't think that the offensive lineman would
have been proud to have been on it?
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Thank you, thank you? If you would have broke his
leg in that, I gotta break his leg. Why you
can't just break the record.
Speaker 7 (27:53):
He was going to get the giant. He was going
to get the giant. They couldn't stop nobody.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
You might go out there and get one hundred and
ten yards right.
Speaker 7 (28:04):
Now, you got one hundred and fifteen yards to get
the giant. Heil Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
After that said the same thing, Go for that record,
make this even even special. If they would have Super
Bowl even more special.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
We got a ring. I gotta said the record.
Speaker 5 (28:15):
I gotta ask you this because of course everybody knows
you guys had a great team in Buffalo went to
four straight Super Bowls lost all For two questions. One,
you know, if if the field goals made in the
first one, do you think that would have altered you know,
that team and maybe you would have won a couple
of them or something, you know by missing it being
(28:37):
that close?
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Scott was it? Scott nor Wood? And that and then
number two. Answer that first and I'll follow up.
Speaker 7 (28:45):
But yeah, yeah, you know what, I don't know what
would have happened because I know at that point in time,
we did have a guy, a lot of guys that
were free agents going into that second year, so we
might have lost a little bit more players than we
wanted to because some guys a new contract for some
guys left, and so uh, you know, you go to
those four super bowl there were only twenty two guys
(29:06):
who played in all four Super Bowls, so there was
some changes after the first couple of years. But I
do think if that if that field goal goes goes through,
you know what, we're not sitting here talking about will
the Buffalo Bills everyone, because they would have had one.
But yeah, it's it was you know, it's something that
the older players and the players that I played with,
we always talked about, you know, had we just won one,
(29:28):
how would things be how would things be different? Uh,
there wouldn't be as much pressure on Josh Allen as
Sean McDermott to win one for the Buffalo Bills and
Bill's Mafia.
Speaker 5 (29:38):
Follows and the follow up to that. And I've talked
to people all the time losing four straight Super Bowls?
Is that something to be proud of that you got there?
Or is that dubious that you lost for straight?
Speaker 7 (29:51):
I'm proud. I'm not gonna say I'm proud. Yeah. Absolutely,
Some some guys go through expren don't even get to
the super Bowl. So yeah, I'm proud, and do I
wish we would have won one a absolutely, And the
perfect time for that would have been the first one
that we've just been talking about. So yeah, it's a
element in the comperence, I think. Uh, And just to
(30:11):
put it in perspective, nobody has been to four straight
super Bowl since we did. Yeah, we lost, but nobody's
been because it's a it's a tough lea to get
through it. It's a tough league to even get to
want Super Bowl. As you know, Detroit Lions found out
who everybody was kind of picking me.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
Everybody but me, Thurman, I just want you to know
everybody but I get you.
Speaker 7 (30:33):
But you know that's just the way and just the
way the ball bounces, man. And uh yeah, I'm extremely
proud of the team and the fan support that we
got those four straight years.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
And here is Thomas Hall of Fame running back. Thank
you so much too, man, I like that.
Speaker 7 (30:50):
What's that I said?
Speaker 3 (30:51):
You're spicy too, you know.
Speaker 7 (30:53):
Oh dude, I'm a tarist. I'm always gonna be spicy.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
There you go. I like, yeah, here you go with
the port ground too.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Yeah, you do the best. The best part about it
is them here. He might have a he got three backpacks.
I think one is full of some port grinds.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Go all right, man, you get in touch.
Speaker 7 (31:10):
With those people. And at the Green Isroe Greets and
Southern recipe. They'll sitting you to up just for doing
this Autumn the misinterview. And I appreciated.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Hey we go hold it to a Thermot. Thank you
so much more. Appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Last night, tottal is now twenty and twenty four.
Speaker 5 (32:53):
Okay, I'm all right, I could get back tonight. Best
bet Cleveland Cavaliers minus two and a half. They're taking
on the Rockets in Houston. All about say it gotta
be somebody good. They only favored by two and a half.
Speaker 7 (33:05):
And a half.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
You know, they're like thirty six and six or something
like that.
Speaker 5 (33:08):
I also have the Atlanta Hawks minus three and a
half now they're hosting the Pistons on the road.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
Yeah, that's a tough one. That's a tough one.
Speaker 5 (33:17):
And I got the Sons minus twelve and a half
that taking on the Nets in Brooklyn. So Sons minus
twelve and a half, Hawks minus three and a half,
and the Cavaliers minus two and a half. And Kevin
remember this, what's that. I'm not telling you who to
bet on. I'm telling you who I bet on.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
You know you don't fear those big large margins that
people gotta win. Twelve and a half and on it.
Speaker 5 (33:40):
Sometimes I don't because I see in the NBA a
lot of twenty one blowouts.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
That's for sure. They got blowed out.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
It's some team's getting blowed outut here, that's for sure.
Real quick, just a little quick football conversation before we
break here. Caleb Caleb Williams obviously gets Ben Johnson arguably
the best offensive mine out there that was available to
be his coach. You had a lot of people lining up.
You have Mike McCarthy lining up another great offensive mine
and Rob g and I were talking like, why aren't
(34:07):
people lining up to get with Trevor Lawrence, who we
were sold on and told was the next great thing
four or five years ago, was supposed to be the
one the best prospects since John Elway.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
This is Trevor Lawrence? Or is it owners? And that
was what I was about to say. I was what
I was saying.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
They just fired the GM there, and I was telling
Robersey the same name, Yeah, cod yep. I think team
or coaches are like, man, I don't want to go there.
The situation, the GM ain't right, the organization and right,
And I like Trevor.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
He might be solid.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
I might be able to do some with him. But
it don't smell right down there, and I don't like it.
And it's Jacksonville, Florida. I'm not okay, I mean only thing. Hey, no,
we got an affiliate Rob G in Jacksonville, Florida. But
I'm saying no state income text. Okay, Yeah, but that's
a selling point, right, you like money.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
You're in Florida. It ain't Miami. It's Jacksonville. And here's
the other Smith thing walking through that door, just singing Miami.
Speaker 5 (35:02):
They thought they could do the Green Bay thing and
jackson everybody in on it, everybody working out.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
It ain't And that's why they have the most games overseas.
They send them up. They're like they're petitioning.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Yeah, they're like, hey, London, y'all got a couple of
extra bucks, go ahead, and by these Jacks from us on.
Speaker 5 (35:21):
Their on their yearbook it said London calling Jaguars seriously.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
I mean they play every year over there, it seems.
But yeah, I'm like Trevor Lawrence, you would think, oh, man,
if I go there, I got the quarterback kind of
set man. He's owners the GMS obviously. Now he just
got fired. So it's just not a stable situation. Uh,
and they're not overlyloaded with talent either. So it's like, okay,
you got him. How about them looking and saying, what
happened to urban Meyer down there?
Speaker 7 (35:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (35:49):
Yeah, seriously urban Mia went down there. He was there
for one year. I lost in the sauce, went down there,
he got lost in I was in that bar. And
that's what I said, Yeah, down there, lost in the
sauce for And now he thought he forgot he was
urban Meyer. Urban Meyer, you know you urban Meyer? Right,
You're just sitting at the bar just regularly. Like it
wasn't like somebody snuck in VIP with care.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Do you know?
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Do you know everybody has a camera on their phone,
you urban Meyer? I literally did he forget?
Speaker 1 (36:16):
This wasn't like an overly like somebody did something found
out And then some deep cover investigator Bruh was like,
let me get too hot Toddies, let me get an
Arnold Palmer, and just I'm like, you, Urban I don't
know what's going on right there. But yeah, so I
just was out that interesting that Trevor Lawrence, who was
supposed to be the one. You don't have all these
(36:37):
coaches beating down the Jacksonville Jaguars door to get to
Trevor Lawrence, I found out to be interesting right there.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
The Lions now they lose Aaron Glenn, they lost Ben Johnson.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
As we just mentioned, there is the door closed on
the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
We'll tell you Fox Sports Radio
