(01:15):
Fox Sports Radio NFL analyst, and much more so.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
We got an action packed hour.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Ahead yep, looking forward to it. So we were talking
about this earlier, had our guests. If you missed it,
of course, check out the podcast What's a Guest? He
had Mike vorkanoff of the Athletic National NBA Reporter, and
we had a conversation. I asked him. I said, we're
gonna try it about it a little bit later. But
just Devin Booker went out there and brought the idea
of hey, the NBA should have more than just the
(01:44):
twelve men roster.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
In fact, he said this regular rosters are fifteen.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Should also rosters be fifteen?
Speaker 5 (01:50):
I think so, you know, I think there's enough talented
guys out here, like I said, that are deserving. I
mean you look at Kyrie and Norman Powell. Those guys
are heaving believeable for some years.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
You know, the more talent in.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
There, the better.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
He went on to say, uh, Trey Young putting up
crazy numbers, LaMelo ball, and he talked about some of
the guys who were doing some big things. At his
point was you know, not seeing guys like that, it
feels snub Not seeing guys who are doing absurd things
seems wrong.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
I'll let you start. No, no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
No, Devin Booker, this is the problem of where we
are now. Everybody can't make the All Star team. Everybody
can't be in the Hall of Fame. Everybody shouldn't have
their jersey retired. Everybody shouldn't have a statue. Can we
stop already? Devin Booker? Your team's not even that good underachieving, underachieving,
(02:47):
so you should make the All Star team. Let's make
the roster fifty since we have so much great talent
and we don't care if guys play. Guys don't even
want to play when they get there, what is the
purpose of it? That's good point, I mean, really, somebody
should have pushed back, dude. The problem with this league
is that you have an All Star game where people
don't even want to compete right or put on a performance,
(03:10):
So you we should have more players.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Come come on, man, this is so lame.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
This is what this is where we are the participation league.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Just put everybody in.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Make everybody feel good, Rub my back, rub my feed.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yes, I'm great.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
No, Devin, you didn't play well enough and your team's
not good enough.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
So guess what happens this year?
Speaker 1 (03:35):
You don't get to go and when we have to
pick this always, I don't care what league, what situation, Kelvin.
You notice, somebody's always gonna get left out. There's never
enough spots. I mean, why why don't we come to this?
Speaker 4 (03:53):
I just caid you almost at a connumption. I just
can't understand why we're here.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
And this whole notion that like like the idea that
people are getting snubbed. This is going on for everybody
sports rider for thirty nine years, I've been hearing the
same thing for.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
And you will if you go another thirty nine nine example,
will get snubbed here. So here's my thing, d Book
number one. The All Star Game. That's the point, that's
what makes it special. That's today. That's why they showed
those videos. And I know you're gonna say it because
it's Homer, But when they showed the video, k cunning him.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
It's first one. He didn't he didn't know.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
You make it, it happens right, it's a special moment.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
You don't know it's your first time.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Mike Conley, how long did he go, like fourteen fifteen
years never being an All Star and then he finally
got it and everyone was happy for him. Because it
wasn't as if he was an All Star caliber. It's
just hey, though, he was in the West, and that's
just the way it worked out. You had Westbrook and
you had James Harden, and you had Steph Curry and
Damian Lillard and you know, and Chris Paul what was
(04:55):
he gonna do? But Mike Conley finally got in there
and it felt great and all of us were happy
for It's supposed to be special. It's supposed to be earned. Also,
this is what makes your credentials. When you start debating people,
you go, all, right, this person's really good, average twenty
five points a game in his career, and then you go,
he was a seven times, eight time, ten time All Star.
(05:17):
These are parts of the thing that make your credential
into where your legacy will be. Right, and so we're
just giving everybody all Stars, then they'll be hard to
different differentiate. Right, it's supposed to be this person was
a three time All NBA, eight time All Star. Boom boom,
boom boom, all down the line. So it has to
be unique. It has to be special when, especially when
(05:38):
it's going to be a part of your legacy and
credentials and also, man this stuff. Hey, people be having
some stuff in their bonuses too, Rob, you make All Star.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Name, you'll get X money.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
No, I'm saying that's why the teams say, hey, I
can't be paying everybody. You know, you get extra million
dollars if Trey Young is a is an All Star.
So I just think he's taking a There's always somebody
who got snugged snugged, and there will be because watch this.
There will be when there's fifteen, because there'll be that
sixteenth person that's sitting there like what about it?
Speaker 1 (06:09):
And it will be when it's twenty five, the roster's
twenty five, there'll be somebody who had a good year
and didn't make it.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
So that the only man now the one thing I
do have, and I don't know the remedy, but I
had an issue with and Rob g correct me if
I'm wrong. LaMelo Ball had the most votes for guards
in his conference, yet he's not a starter.
Speaker 6 (06:34):
It's the first time in history that's ever happened.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
That one did not And on me, I'm trying to
read into it. I'm like, maybe I'm missing he is
he did not play games? Is he injured?
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Like?
Speaker 2 (06:42):
What am I I.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Thought it was positioned that they don't. They don't do positions,
do they? They still do like forwards like bigs and guards.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
But but that's why I think he did right.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
No, he didn't make it because he was would have
been the reserve the coaches pick and he didn't pick him. No,
but I'm saying you said he had the most votes
of the guards, right, that's what it is, Bob G.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
I don't understand how he became the first player in
NBA street to lead his position group in fan voting
to not actually be named it All Stars since voting
changed in twenty sixteen.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Yeah, I don't. I don't get it though, Like well.
Speaker 6 (07:14):
Because now it's done on like a scoring.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Center of fantass writers.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
But he's the one where because but it's not like
before where it was all fans. So that that's when
that when they allowed the players to vote, but.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
The first since they've done this, so that is interesting.
And I know his team isn't good. I don't know
for sure, just chucking up shots, dude, Listen, this is
what I was telling, Rob G. They're a merits saw this.
But then there's also a boy I would love to
see because I don't LaMelo Ball and all.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Stark and he'll get there, clearly, he'll get there.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
He's so young, but man oh man, he will be
going crazy with the behind the backs threes als like that.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
That's his.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
But that is his anything though, Like like seriously, like
if there was a game I'm with you, then it
would be great to see. But nobody's defending anybody. Nobody's
doing that.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
The perfect era was like the early two thousands with
Jay Kidd and Kobe Ai, Kevin Grant. This serious but
they still knew how to do it right. That was
the best in my personal opinion, that was a great era.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
I remember it was the year and then I was
thinking about going to the All Star Game?
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Right, ye this year? Oh this year, you say?
Speaker 1 (08:23):
And then I just was like, you know what, San
Francisco is a great town. You know I've been to
a million All Star Games, and just like, what has
happened to this event?
Speaker 7 (08:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (08:32):
You would have to go, say, Like I was like,
you would have to go for everything, networking and hanging out.
The food in San Francisco might be number two behind
New Orleans with food, but I was like, really, do
I do the gaming and of itself, like the Friday
Night Saturday Nights can be fun, right, they get the
dunk contest right, like when Aaron Gordon, Zach Levine and
all that, they got it right to it. Steph Curry,
(08:53):
Klay Thompson going out a three point contest. That's good,
even the dunk contest. They gotta go get people who
aren't even in the league. Well I know that, and
that think about that. That that takes me off so
mad because if you don't go get me Zion ja
Morean Anthony Edwards and you can pick the fourth, they
can be a rookie. I don't know about any of it.
I'm in Thompson or something. I don't give a dang there.
(09:16):
If I don't get a zion A Jaw and Anthony Edwards,
I'm done. Man, Adam Silver, put your executive press the
red button the Gotham phone, give us aunt Jah Zion
and you can pick the fourth. Bring zach Levine back.
Maybe there's some young Jalen Green. I'm cool with that.
That's a young leaper, Like come on, rob G.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
What do you have? Rob G?
Speaker 6 (09:39):
So there's four guys in this year Slam Dunk contest
talking on you just said.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Guys, I already know it's about to be you're some flags.
Just a guy.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
Mack mccluk is not in the league. He's a two
way player.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
What I'm saying like, he's not even in the league.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
Kay, I'm gonna give you the other three names.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
This is about turning to who he played for.
Speaker 6 (09:54):
Yeah, shout out Charles Barkley, because Charles don't know either,
and he covers the league. Rob's been covering the least
and movie Dick was a gut seven. So I'm expecting
you to get every one of these right riders.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Have no shot, all right? No shot?
Speaker 6 (10:06):
Number one is an easy one. Spurs guard Stefan Castle,
I'm sorry, Spurs guard Stefan Castle. Who do you play for?
Speaker 2 (10:18):
You said? You said, you're right, it's the right.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
We looked at you and to the point on I'm
missing the stated all right, here we go. I was like, what, alright,
the next two we'll see. That was funny. Uh he's
a rookie. Matas Bozellis, Oh, yes, easy the jazz.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
I'm gonna say, very nice Toronto Chicago Bulls. Okay, just
go get Zack Ain. Al Right, here's the last one.
Andre Jackson, junior, second year player.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
I know his daddy was good. I could just tell
Andre Jackson junior his daddy was good. Uh. He is
definitely with the Nuggets, on the bench of the Kings.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Definitely the Nuggets. What you say, definitely on the bench
of the Hornets. The heat.
Speaker 6 (11:21):
I'm gonna say, Rob's credentaying that final answer. Yes, Milwaukee Bucks.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
This is crazy.
Speaker 6 (11:33):
Who watches more basketball? Rob Parker, Charles Barkley.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Man, it's close close or you can throw Hey, you
can throw shot in there too.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
By the way, probably we watched more.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
That's a good point. We're here right now. We got
the Denver Philly game. Games going, usually a watching game.
Before I screwed up.
Speaker 6 (11:53):
If I said Stefan Castle, you would have know he
was the number four pick in the draft.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Exactly horrible draft.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
We remember the top not even I can't listen, but
they but they were from France, like two of them.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
I just know I know their names. Two or from France. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Here's the issue though. The issue is you always had
unknowns or like a tenth man on the bench that
always had Sometimes we over fantasized like man Kobe and Lebron,
I mean the Kobe and Jordan dummy. There was always
one or two guys like Spud Webb was just a
guy just happened have an amazing dunk contest, right, Kenny
Skywalker with the Knicks was literally just guy averaging like.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
He was just a guy. Right. It always happens that way.
Harold Minor was just a guy.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Like so, I don't want us to over fantasize that,
like everybody was a celeb and a star, but what
you at least had was two or three of the
five or six people would be the Jordans de dominiques,
established guys, you know, the Jason Rich, oh, young guy
we know of he's playing good, Vince Carter, the young
rookie who's a phoenix. You know what I mean something
I mean second year, like you knew the guys, what
(13:00):
I'm saying, Like you knew two or three, and then
there'd be some young guys.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
We don't know anybody. And that's the problem.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
If you told me two of the guys you just
named Rob g and then you said and joh and
Anthony Vera Tuck. I fine, because a young guy might
surprise us, but at least I got Joe, at least
I got Zion, or at least I got somebody couple.
I know that's the problem. And again I put a
lot of this on Lebron never doing it, where he
was the face of the league for fifteen years or
so and never did it. And if Leron did it
(13:27):
once or twice, and then okay, whether you won or lost,
I'll do it if I'm such and such person, you know,
so that that disappoints me right there, Like the fact
that we don't know a single person use just name
is ridiculous.
Speaker 6 (13:37):
That kind of sounds like you are full circling your
original point. Where if it's the All Star Game, the
slam dunk content, three point contest, I want the stars.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Right, that's what that's what it's supposed to be, where
you showcase the league.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
So doctor j did it. It didn't get any bigger
than Dr.
Speaker 6 (13:52):
Jeso to play Devil's Advocate. Does that then prove Devin
Booker's point? No, because no offense to Jalen Williams and
these other guys, they no, but you could pick them
out of the line. No, Williams, he's playing really well.
He's but he's not a star.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
But the but the thing is you can't if you're
gonna have an All Star game and it's based on
playing well, that doesn't mean that he can't be continue
to be a star like that.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Yeah. I remember when he made his first All Star Game,
you know what I mean? And then as time went on,
you like, your first has to be your first.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
It's something right At some point eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine, does the NBA need to expand all
star rosters to fifteen?
Speaker 8 (14:35):
No?
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Thanks, Devin Booker. Uh, we'll continue that conversation next with you.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
It is The Odd Couple, Rob Parker, kelvin Washington, right
here on a funky flashback Friday here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Stick and stay if you believe every basketball player should
be now a Hall of Famer and an All Star
player in the US to.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

Speaker 4 (15:06):

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Not mad at that, all right?
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Robin and I are talking about Devin Booker said he
wishes the NBA would expand the fifteen players in the
All Star Game versus twelve for each team, thus less snubs.
Robin I Bo say, you're still gonna get snubs. The
sixteenth player gonna feel like he was snubbed, no matter what,
no matter and just Towell was supposed to be honored
to be selected, right, It supposed to be selective with
your selections.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Belly aching all the time? Andre in Massachusetts, you're on
the odd couple?
Speaker 2 (15:57):
What up?
Speaker 7 (15:57):
Dre?
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Fox Sports Radio? What's up? Hey?
Speaker 8 (16:00):
What's coming on? Thanks for taking a call. Listen, the
NBA has already known for the participation Trophy in terms
of what goes on with the Basketball Hall of Fame,
and everybody who was a nice guy and patted somebody
on the back and was on the championship team hits
in the Hall of Fame. Okay, it's ridiculous, Rob you
you having a vote for the gold standard for Hall
of Fame. The baseball Hall of Fames know how it
(16:20):
should be, all right, meaning the best and the best.
So it's the same standard with it, Devin Booker, you
want to make the All Star Game, how about you
win more games?
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Thank you?
Speaker 8 (16:29):
Okay, and not seeing the playing tournament when you have
three when you have three potential All Stars on the
team and a capable coaching with with with coach books.
So no, it's the teams that are winning that are
trending in the right direction, not all these empty calories
stats play better make an All Star team. And that's
the correction that we need. That's taking the call.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
All right, all right, appreciate that, but yeah, yeah, very
good point there, all right.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Brandon in Riverside, California, You're on they couple of Fox
Sports radio, we're going on guns.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
What's up Brandon?
Speaker 9 (17:02):
Hey with you guys, No, we don't need all those
just like you like the lave fall sense, play better, make,
get your make, make your make your name exciting to
the point where we want to vote you in right
and everything you earn it and you all have right
on All Stars meant for the All Stars, and that's
gonna be one team that's gonna be on Lebron James
(17:25):
record where they're gonna talk about the negative part because
he's never gave anything to the All Star Game but
the game itself, nothing extra, the dunkin contest or anything.
Speaker 7 (17:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Yeah, he's played well.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
He's brought the energy, especially I remember that first about
a ten year run where he was perfect balance of
playing around a little bit, then got serious but not
I mean, obviously we don't want him in a three
point contest, but definitely not doing the dunk contest really
just once it doesn't make sense. Arguably the greatest athlete
the NBA has ever seen, arguably right one or two
or three right up in there, and you never did it.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Arguably the most popular for sure too.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
For sure to him and Dominique went up twice and
I might have been a theme, might have been thrice,
but like and he wasn't six Championship mics at that point, Mike,
but he was still star player.
Speaker 10 (18:13):
You know.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Dominique was a star player. Yeah, yeah, Doctor J was
a star. Kobe was a young star. He was when
he was a wizard.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
And so he just thought that Lebron would have done
it by then. You know, you would have hoped at
one point just just for the fan, like just for us.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
So that's what the All Star Game is supposed to be.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Andre in Bakersfield, Andrew, Andrew, Andrew, I'm sorry in Bakersfield, California.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
What's up? How are you?
Speaker 8 (18:37):
What's up?
Speaker 10 (18:38):
Guys? Uh, yeah, I'm with you, guys. You don't need
more All Stars. I remember when being an All Star
meant something playing soccer. I made the All Star team
and then I was able to, you know, make a
club team. But anyways, I think David, I also think
NBA players are soft. You know, did some wind sprints
(18:59):
and maybe he'll start working out the muscles in your
legs and have some stronger legs so you don't always
get injured. And also, David Stern made a mistake by
blocking the trade of Chris Paul to the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
All right, all right, I.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
Don't know he was going I mean he was right,
but I don't know that.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
You gotta remember, I mean I think there was a
rhyme and reason too.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Were the Pelicans and they was gonna get screwed over.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
Yeah, but but right and whatever it was going to
be sold and they had no value.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
You were going to take the best player off of
the team. There was a lot that way. Yes, didn't
like that.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
Like we've had a million trades before, good trades, bat
trade at that.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Time that the league owned the.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Team, they were about to get power gasol uh and
they got what they needed, got to make Kobe and
CP three would have been crazy.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
All right.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
We got Sean King on the other side. But right
now we're getting ready to tell you what's trending.
Speaker 3 (19:57):

Speaker 4 (20:09):
It is time now with company line for Sorreck dot
Com Studios. Shawkick, former NFL quarterback Fox Sports Radio NFL
analyst Real Sean King on x sew what broh, what's happening?
Speaker 7 (20:21):
Hey? All good in the I'm just sitting here basketing
all of my glory because, as I said, Ronnie James
would improve and style player only person Ronnie's JJ reddick.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Oh god, did you watch what the fifteen minute extended
play against Philadelphia?
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Did you watch that? We can move on to the Yeah,
I thought I thought so. Yeah, And wait a minute,
and then you picked the commanders. I thought you picked
the commanders.
Speaker 7 (20:51):
No I didn't. I did not. I said, I give
you guys a two team moneyline Parley Eagles and Cheets.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
I thought you were hoping them all right, Well, you
surprised at how big of a lopsided game that was.
Speaker 7 (21:03):
Yeah, I was surprised that got out of hand like that.
But hey, it happens. It happens. I'm kept. You know,
there's you know how the Dolphins kind of get together
and like sell a party. Yeah, every time somebody loses,
like I kind of like him in that famous situation.
I'm still the only rookie quarterback whose team covered in
(21:27):
the conference. Cheverg that's right.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
And every time they make it like no rookie had ever.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Been to a Conference game, Dan Sean King to say,
guess what, and I.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Covered ye know what I mean? Hey, listen, you gotta
get wins wherever you can get them. I'm not mad
at that.
Speaker 7 (21:43):
The things we hold on to as we start to
get old.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Trust me, I work with somebody who always brings one up.
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
I got to see you here, my bad here, Hey Sean,
let's stay with that game for a minute. The Eagles
are so dominant both offensive and defensive line.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Didn't think that Jaylor hurts? No, he good? I know,
I see that's how it started. No, I said, I
was worried about it.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
If you have to get into a passing game, and
I still don't know if he has to go up
against Pat Mahomes and that's to.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Actually, you know, I got a running game too. They
do have a running game.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
So I want to ask you that that front, that
offensive line, that defensive line, how important is it for
him going into this Super Bowl that they continue to
dominate because that seems to be the strength on both
sides of the ball.
Speaker 7 (22:23):
I think one overlook thing about Mahomes is in these
big games, he tends to run the ball a lot more.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Yeah, we saw that last game.
Speaker 7 (22:32):
Regular season, so I think in their hurts to get
past pressure on him, they have to be very disciplined
and how they rush.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
Do you need to have a game, Do you need
to have a spy or somebody who I'm went you
on that, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (22:48):
I think you allow him to do that.
Speaker 7 (22:52):
I think people forget that Mahomes is athletic, and when
they design the defense, they don't design it with containers
a pont like when you play Josh Allen Lamar Jackson.
You're preaching to the defensive line all week. Hey, we
gotta get a rush, but we gotta be disciplined. We
gotta contain like we gotta keep in the pie. And
you gotta approach Mahomes like that too. If you look
(23:12):
at Kansas City's explosive plays, they've either been by creative
design cause they've been worthy, or they've been by Mahomes
extending the play, meaning it's worthy on a motion, double
move or a reverse or it's Mahomes extending the play.
So if you can take the Mahomes extending the play
big play away, I think you can really minimize this
(23:33):
Chiefs offense. I'm gonna go ahead and say it. I
know it's a week out right now. I'm heavily leaning
Eagles to win this game.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
I'm with you on that.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
I like the Eagles in this They are a lot
better than they were when they played them two years ago.
I like what they have. I want to get here
and then we can get back to the super Bowl.
But a couple coaching hires, just your take on them.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Pete caw will.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Be seventy four when the season starts with the Raiders,
and then the Brian shot in high who wasn't on
anybody radar?
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Exactly what do you make of Pete Carroll?
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Like if you're trying to build something as a seventy
four year old guy with a league issued walker good
enough to be a head coach anymore.
Speaker 7 (24:16):
I actually thought that was a great fit. And here's
why I think Brady's kind of new into whatever role
he's going to have for the Raiders. John Spotek a
friend of mine, his first time being a GM bringing
a veteran.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Is he going to hire you?
Speaker 10 (24:34):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (24:35):
Well, hopefully you know the good people in Fox you know,
make me part.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Of this, Okay? All right?
Speaker 7 (24:41):
If not, Hopell, that's a fall back option. I think
having Pete's experience in the building is important as they restructure.
I also would encourage Pete to hire a coordinator offense
or defense they think it's close to being ready to
be a head coach, and kind of let Pete get
the organiization, all the departments headed in the right direction,
(25:03):
with the right vision, you know, operating in the right way,
and then kind of groom a young coordinator to take over,
because the Raiders weren't a good destination for a young
up and coming coordinator because they don't have a quarterback,
they don't have a clear means to attain one.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
At Brian Seanhaimer with Dallas.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
A lot of people say, here's Jerry Jones not serious
about winning, and here's another example of it, hiring another
coach that has strings attached to him.
Speaker 7 (25:33):
I don't think Jerris is not serious about winning. I
just think Jerry has decided that if I do or
we do win, it's going to be my way. So
this hire makes a lot of sense, a kind of
non descript off the weight on God that owes everything
to Jerry forgetting this opportunity. Jerry can control who's not
gonna push back and if the Cowboys win under Sidenheimer,
(25:57):
then who gets the credit? Yeah, jn't what are.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
The chances of that?
Speaker 1 (26:01):
I mean, I'm just like we've we've been for thirty years.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Thirty years.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
They haven't even been to a an NFC championship game,
forget about going to the super Bowl in thirty years.
Speaker 7 (26:14):
I'm not justifying it. I'm just explaining what I think happened.
I don't know if you guys ever have any free time,
but if you want to have a ball, just go
to a nursing home and see how Camden is stuck
in the ways people are as they get older. I'm
saying Jerry has decided I'd rather not win a Super
Bowl than win one, not doing it my way.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
Now, I get that that's real, But at some point,
why would you wonder a lot of people say, Steven Jones,
why did he give him more? You've been you grew
up nothing, knowing nothing but football. Your whole life been
a part of this organization. Why not say, all right,
I'm still the owner, I'm still about I'm around, But Steven,
get busy, go higher like you?
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Just why at what point is it when I die?
Speaker 7 (26:55):
Well? Jerry don't really come off as the most diplomatic person.
I mean nice plus cheer. You know it's expensive mic
and talk about you know, why don't you if you
played for the if you work for the Cowboys, you
just don't get rid of the cowboy employee.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
Yeah, he already went on radio show, Sean and was
telling people he might get him fired on the radio show.
So we already we already know how he does. All right,
I want to let's go. I want to go back
to the Chiefs a little bit on this.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
And then I want to ask you about the Lions too.
So how much want about the coordinators? Because Shawn has
already ready to you let them be SHAWNA has already
said and that the window might have closed already.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
And now and now you know, you got Dan Gamble
who doesn't call plays on any side of the.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Ball, uh, Sean.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
So you know, now you're taking away his coordinators. And
now they're uh, I.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Got assistant They think they have seven assistant coaches.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Yeah, everybody's got trouble, Sean.
Speaker 7 (27:55):
I think I don't know if trouble is the White terms,
just because they return the majority of their key personnel
and they get some guys back from injury. But I
will say this, and I don't know if you guys
have talked about it, the National Football League is doing
a major injustice by making the regular season more important
(28:17):
than the postseason. And here's what I mean. It's tampering
during the regular season to talk to someone else's coaching staff,
but in the postseason everybody does it. You can't tell
me that Glenn and Ben weren't distracted by having to
do multiple head coaching interviews as they're trying to prepare
to play in the playoffs. Why won't they just institute
(28:39):
a rule no one can interview or be contacted until
the day after the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
I mean, well, I mean it makes sense what you're saying.
But their thing is, you gotta have to the leagu
who ain't gonna make the playoffs. They trying to get
busy right now, hire some people.
Speaker 7 (28:57):
You're punishing the guys that make the playoffs. Think about
everything that we've heard, and I'm a former coach, so
I can I can verify about how much time you
have to put in in order to be fully prepared
for one game. During the regular season, coaches are there
day and night, locked in trying to get every edge
you can get. So you mean it's less difficult come
(29:18):
playoff time. Now, all of a sudden, those same coordinators
have time to game plan and prepare for a playoff game,
but at the same time have three four head coach interviews.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
So you mean to tell me that if they didn't
interview that Jared Goff wouldn't have had four turnovers.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
In the Lions game. Is that what you saying? Yeah,
that's what he's saying.
Speaker 7 (29:36):
Remember, what I'm saying is maybe there's something that was overlooked.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
No, get I get that, But I'm just saying.
Speaker 7 (29:42):
What offense was distracted?
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Yeah, but at that that I wouldn't say I don't
think they understand what you're Sair Johnson wouldn't blame it
on that. But I'm saying, but but but there were
some players who didn't play well. I mean, I you know,
I guess you could have the best game plan, right,
It doesn't mean that they're gonna jar other team and did.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Not help, you know.
Speaker 7 (30:02):
It takes away and think about all the coaches that
he took with him. It says an uneasiness that exists
inside of an organization at the end of every season.
That's true because all of those coaches at the same time,
they again prepared for the commanders, but they're also trying
to make sure that I make some cool with Ag,
makes some cul with Ben, just in case they go.
(30:25):
Can I get a promotion, a raise, make sure Dad
know that I'm rocking with him like it becomes an issue.
Not blaming it for the commander's loss. But Rob bought
the question of about moving forward without either guy. I
think both guys pursuits of being a head coach may
have played a small role in the result in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
All right, there it is Sean King, Matt, thank you
so much, Dog having a wonderful weekend.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Make sure you give them a follow again.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
King on ex and you did peau my interest about
the nursing home, so I might look into that.
Speaker 7 (30:58):
Man, it's an hilarious conversation. Let's try it.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
Listen, he already did that. It was called the Golden

Speaker 4 (32:11):
I grew up in Queen Yeah right, that's hey, Alex, Hey,
Rob on three on three.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Everybody go right one, two? Right?
Speaker 4 (32:19):
Yeah, keep going, rob g No, Robgi. Is Rob Parker
a Yankee fan or not? What bag is Steph carrying?
Is that like it's a reusable we got a laptop,
but no, that's a reus to get it.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Yeah, like so that you can buy groceries and not
have to.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
Pay the time Trader Joe's on the way. All right, No,
so let me just tell us what your team is
up to. I don't have a team. I'm a reporter
and I have been for thirty nine years. Okay, there
in Judge right over there, whatever, But I will say
this two things can be true.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
And this is one time where it is a lot
of Yankee fans always say, hal star brother, it's cheap.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Because George was man, whatever it takes, whatever it takes.
He was trying to win.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
I'm gonna sign Reggie Jackson, I'm gonna get Catfish Harder,
who who Dave Winfield at the time, like whoever was
the best players he was getting?
Speaker 2 (33:13):
And how hasn't exactly been that?
Speaker 1 (33:15):
You know, they did sign they let some of the Robinson,
Cano Goo and some other players where they didn't pay him,
but they did sign Aaron Judge, and I'm.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
Gonna give him credit. I was shocked.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
That he offered seven hundred and sixty million dollars to Want,
So I'm sure from the yank from him and the
Yankees it's like double what Judge got. And I get it,
he's younger and all that, but it's a lot seven
sixty and the Mets offered seven sixty five and they
got him. But here's my point, but for him to
(33:52):
be belly aching about what the Dodgers are doing and
the money they spend, the Yankees print money, the television
deal with Yes is like they get four hundred million
dollars in revenue before they even sell a ticket.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
So when I start.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Hearing like, oh the Dodgers doing huh makes things a
little difficult, is that, you know, like like like no
sympathy for the Yankees.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
So they're the number two team and then the tennis
Dodgers number one, Yankee number two. Almost every single year
they're right there. They make plenty of money the local
TV rights people. The other day we were talking about
the money that baseball revenue twelve point one that doesn't
even include the local TV Like if a team the
Yankees own the Yes Network.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
It doesn't include that money on that advertising money. Yeah,
so a couple of things I'm looking at. This one
makes me laugh. This is a direct quote from him.
It's difficult for most of us owners to be able
to do the kind of things that they're doing. We'll
see if it pays off. What are it's difficult for us?
What is he in Milwaukee? Is he in Tampa? I
can't believe he's looking for sympathy. And then this one,
(34:55):
you know, it's hey, this is what I call it.
It was hate and it's okay because you know the
team because what he said, he goes on the site,
we'll see if it pays off, and he goes on
to say and they have to wait to see about injuries.
I mean, you know injuries playing Ron Dodgers were beyond
injured this past season. That's what made their run so remarkable.
They literally had to have bullpen game. At the bullpen
game all year long. Starter gone, starter, gone, go pick
(35:18):
up some pieces, Go get this guy.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Here's the here's the come on. How I agree?
Speaker 1 (35:23):
How but the one thing I want to see is
teams don't repeat in baseball.
Speaker 4 (35:27):
It's hard, very true. What did we say that? And
now it has been since the nine so that's twenty almost,
that's twenty five years. Yeah, so I mean on paper,
they got all the reasons to do it on paper,
but I think so right, But to his point, we
got to play it out. But but the idea that
how we just all of us owners, we just can't
do what they're doing. Settle down to including sixty years
(35:48):
y'all been doing this now of a sudden.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
You know, us, us poor owners and us, we just
I don't know if we can do I don't know
if we can handle that.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
Come on now, how so that was that was that
made me laugh, right there a little hate between that.
See if it pays off and I don't know that
I have been the injury bud. But I like it though,
because you know me, I like a little trash talk.
I like a little rivalries. We finally got one.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
He's a salty kiddy because they thought had they won
game won, they would have won the World Series. Like
that was a turning point and they were the one
out a way Freddie Freeman could have got under that
ball and popped it up and it could change everything.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
So yeah, I like a little spice, you know me.
And it's good because I like rivalries. And hopefully we
don't have to go again another what forty years to
see them match up again, hopefully not. John Calipari reception.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
How would it be? Fox Sports Radio,
