You know, it's funny in New Orleans, which is really
good today at my other job, Spectrol News one shout
out to them. And if you're in LA, you rock
with your boy. Oh dub, you're going to New Orleans.
I'm like, yeah, yeah, you going to Emeralds. First thing
somebody said, I said, Rob hooked it up. Will be
there Wednesday, Wednesday night.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
No, it's really really good. I've eaten there like twice.
I don't I know, I didn't go when I went
to New Orleans. Did he have someone with another one
another location? Yeah, yeah, Emeralds. Yeah, yeah, he has a
feeling I've been somewhere, but I think he's from New Walk. Yeah,
he is from the one that's the one that's the spot.
You can't mess up about that home.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
And I was looking when I went and made the reservation,
and the other days like the Thursday, Friday, No, no,
seats available.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
So we did the right guy before everybody come to
town and all that. So looking forward to it.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Man, all right, Uh, so we have a lot to
talk about and it's time for somebody to get paid. Yeah,
let's let's let's start with the NFL and Rob G.
We're gonna get rob G in here. I don't know
if you're gonna do that. Rob, you don't want to
talk now or the top of the next Robbery? How
many figures I got up? All right, let's have robby
(05:19):
a little drug as we know, Rob guh miss the
show yesterday had a little minor procedure.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Uh, what's up, robb G? How you feel that area
ain't minor?
Speaker 6 (05:29):
I'm feeling fine.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yes, Yes, they gave you six hundred eight hundred you
need talking about They didn't give you six hundred iro
what they give you nothing coding? They get a K
I'm talking about posts. Nothing give you prescribe you any
kind of pain medal?
Speaker 6 (05:45):
Now, I don't know.
Speaker 7 (05:47):
Wow, So I guess no post on clarity. Huh you
can use that.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Rob, Thank you? Yeah? Who doctor did you go to?
Speaker 6 (05:57):
It's not It's really not that bad.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Doc.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
First, you know what it is? The opioid crisis that
happened for five six seventeen years ago. That's why they're like, oh,
we want to get to because they no way they
would be playing in people's regions and not giving you drugs.
Speaker 6 (06:10):
Well, either way, I have five hundred ibyprofnate at home anyway,
so that's not a big deal.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Right, So how you feeling?
Speaker 6 (06:15):
I feel fine.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
We don't have to say what happened. You just had
a procedure.
Speaker 6 (06:18):
I gotta a sect me, okay, right, we stand up,
stand up. I'm doing doing the lebron chock toss at
all times of the day.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Yo.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
So hey, and you have two beautiful daughters. I could
do it good. He's good.
Speaker 6 (06:33):
Right, I got two beautiful daughters. And that's it. It's
a rap. I'm done, Close up shop, hang up the jersey.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
But how about this right before, you had to be
scared like just it's natural. I think I don't think
like you thought like it's the end of the world.
But were You're a little just apprehensive a little bit.
Speaker 6 (06:51):
And I think that they thought about this because the
two medication they did give me, one of them is
for to make sure there's no infections. So you take
that before and then for a week. The The other
one they gave is anti anxiety medication.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (07:04):
So because one of that kicked in, everything was kind
of funny to me.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
So I probably couldn't have gotten the operation because you
said if you have an infection, they wouldn't do it.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Oh boy, Yeah, but they might have. They might have
helped you there with that first. They might have. Hey,
before we do that, let me leave you this. Come
back tomorrow, give it twenty four hours to do it.
They need to do what they do it.
Speaker 7 (07:26):
I asked Rob g something we won't say it on
the air. Please try and I don't even know what
it is, but just please don't. I thought his voice
might have been a little higher when he came back.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
Right, y'all are the worst. I got more add to
this later. But get this all right, let's do that,
all right, Well, let's get here. So Rob guh news
the kind of news of the day? I guess it
was ESPN, correct, That is correct? Now, I would I
don't know if it's news of the day as much
as it could be news of the NFL off seas. Yeah,
I'm just saying, like it came out today. ESPN did
(07:55):
a poll, right and talked to some executives.
Speaker 6 (07:59):
Right, ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
From the New York Days, you know, everybody.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
Spoke with half a dozen NFL execs and cap experts
around the league to get their thoughts on the upcoming
free agent market, what guys might get, what they won't get,
so on and so forth. Michah Parsons, Jamar Chase, Sam Donald,
the list goes on and on. But one name that
stood out especially for this show was Brock Purty Perdy.
(08:27):
And according to these execs, they're expecting Rock Perty to
re sign in San Francisco. But here's the headline. They
also expect that the contract will be using Daniel Jones's
type of framework and built out from there. You recalled
two years ago, Daniel Jones got a four year, one
(08:48):
hundred and sixty million dollar deal eighty one million guarantee,
made of the ninth highest paid quarterback in the league
at the time. Well, when you adjust for inflation, the
CAP's going up, the salaries are going up. They're projected
Rock Perdy this offseason will get four years, one ninety
six with one hundred and twelve million guaranteed, which would
make him the tenth highest paid quarterback in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Your thoughts makes sense to me a couple of reasons. One,
I think you look at rock Perdy and to his disadvantage,
Rob's brought this up. They're gonna hold over his head
when you were the last pick. I mean you know
you were the last pick, so you hold that into
where he came from. Also, I think you look at
the worst of him, which so far has been this year,
(09:33):
this past season for him, and then you look at
the best of him. You look at last year Pro Bowler,
he was number four in MVP votes, He's been to
the Super Bowl, he's been an NFC championship. So you
take the best of him, you take this year if
there was the worst, and you find a median and
to me, that's where you land. And that makes about
since you know, if he's nineteenth and I can name
(09:54):
not that it goes by obviously how good guys are,
because Dak Prescott is not. You know, the money he
makes doesn't have him better than other people. But it
makes sense about the where brock perty is and what
he is as far as elevating the team. He's not
gonna elevate them too much. He needs the guys there,
but he can still be a studying force. He knows
the system, he knows the team. He's are. I have
no worry about any issues off the field. So that
(10:15):
money makes sense. I think that that makes both parties happy,
he and the team, and it totally makes sense of
where you want to go with him. So to me,
that's about right about a fair amount of money. You
weren't gonna break the bank. He wasn't gonna be sixty
plus millions pass back. And last point, you somebody gonna say, well,
Daniel Jones was the ninth highest paid, and then somebody's
(10:36):
gonna say, well, Deshaun Watson got two wrongs. Don't make
it right. I don't. Just because they may overpay Daniel Jones,
who ain't even on the team anymore, and just because
they did something in the NFL had never done with
guaranteed money like that for quarterback with Shaun Watson, doesn't
mean I have to John Lynch in the forty nine ers.
So before somebody even says that this makes about perfect
sense to me, I get the I think they look
(10:59):
at him a certain.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Way because of uh, where he was drafted, where it
was drafted. But I don't believe that that is uh
that that sticks to you if you really perform and
people get to see and really believe in you. And
and I'll give you Kurt Warner was undrafted, like everybody
talks about him being mister irrelevant.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
When Kurt Warner came.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
On to the scene for the Saint Louis rams ain't
nobody cared about where he was drafted.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Am I right? The greatest show on turf?
Speaker 3 (11:30):
But I mean he was spectacular and nobody cared about, Oh, well,
you can't give this guy money or you can't did
what he was spectacular And what has happened is rock
purty for a lot of reasons, not only just the
draft place, but where the forty nine ers were, that
they had already gone to a Super Bowl, that they
(11:51):
already had all these resents, all that stuff. You look
at and go, well, well, it wasn't like we hadn't
made the playoffs in eight years and this guy showed
up and we can look at it and go wow,
oh look at what this guy did, because that wasn't
the case. And I think that the reason is when
you it's always about what have you done for me lately?
(12:13):
And coming off last year, he looks more mortal, he
looks like we saw more holes in his game that
if he doesn't have all the pieces and everything's not
just right, he's not nearly as effective as he was
when everybody was there for him. And that's what scares
people into making that kind of investment. And that's why
(12:35):
I believe that he should be about the tenth or
twelfth highest paid quarterback, not in the top five or
anything like.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
That, not close, even though normally if I told you
NFC Chamions or NFC Chamions Super.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Bowl, no, yeah, he's just trying to get you sixty,
right like normally.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
And that's why, Yeah, we agree that this is fair
money to me. And I would have went as low
as if he was the eighth. I mean, if he
was or high, I guess you could look at it
that way. If he was the seventh eighth, that would
have been fine with me too, just based off of
the resume, more so than even the individual talent. I
could see his agent say, look, man, all the kid
is known is NFC Championship and c Championship Super Bowls,
you know, and then obviously this season you could say no, no, no,
(13:14):
that was an anomaly. Guys are banged up, Guys are
in and out of the lineup. He'll be better next year.
But this fits. This feels right to me. I don't.
I don't. I think he's happy, very happy, and I
think the team is very happy, and I think this
will be good for them, and it keeps the money
down just enough they can still go out there and
sign some other guys. I got to see if he's
gonna accept it.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
I think if you're if you're his agent, you gotta
be like, dude, this might be like, let's not kid
yourself like it's it's nice to be team friendly. But
if they I just don't think there's any like anyone
else will give him more like no, but I don't
have that many windows open in your career, and as
(13:55):
you don't get top dollars what you deserve, you may
look back on it and go, man, what was that?
What the other side of it is he mess around
and go six and eleven next year ain't gonna work.
So it's that gamble of do you take it now
or do you betting yourself and say I'm a ball
out and we're gonna be you know.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
He could just go to lerteen and three, that contract
can go.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
I've done way more but the post season very then,
Dak and John Right, I've gotten all these almost Why
I was close to the MVP voting.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Yep, you can make a cake be like yo, and
I'm still worse sixty? Why am I not? Why am
I not worth? That's why I brought it up, Dak Prescott,
h No, I get a say, you know where Daniel
Jones whe people can say, Look, I hear you. I
get what you're saying, but I don't want to duplicate
the mistake they may make. That doesn't make sense for
us in our organization.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
All right, eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Does
being the tenth paid quarterback in the NFL sound fair
for brock Party?
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Should he be higher? Lower? Where are you? We want
to hear from you?
Speaker 3 (14:59):
On the Funky Flashback Friday, Rob Parker kelvin Washington will
continue this conversation.
Speaker 1 (15:04):

We got Mike Vorkanoff coming up the Athletic National NBA
reporter talk. Some hoops, got a big game coming up
here and just a little bit looking forward to that.
Right now, we're talking about Brock party and long story
short by reports, it looks as if he might get
around the tenth become the tenth highest paid court.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Danel Jones money, Daniel Jones money, you know, where he
was at the time.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Yeah, not Daniel Jones, who was just backing up people
holding clipboards now still making crazy money. U. So Rob
and I both agree that sounds about right for me.
He could have went up a little more or been
a little down, like.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Right around there. He could have gone down too, spots.
I'm alright with that. You should have went twelve. I
could have went eight. Exactly.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
What's that? You a seven? Seven ninety nine? Oh? Fox,
So we got Jared in Milwaukee. You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Hey, guys?
Speaker 8 (16:41):
Loving the show. Thanks for taking my call.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
I appreciate you.
Speaker 8 (16:45):
Yeah, I just wanted to I just wanted to say.
I mean, I'm with you that that seems abounce fair
right now, he could split hairs. Maybe he's a little
closer to eighth or ninth. However, with the way contracts
go up, like, let's be honest, a couple more quarterbacks
are going to sign, you know, probably this offseason and
the next off season, a couple more signed these huge deals,
(17:06):
and suddenly his tenth that he signs today is going
to be twentieth right in a year or two. So
I guess I could understand him wanting to hold off
a little bit or ask for more, And I could
see other teams being willing to give him more because
the way the market just keeps exploding, in two years,
that's going to look like a discount, even if right
(17:28):
now he's getting paid.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
I don't know, Jared, I don't know if I know, Jared,
I don't know if other teams will be overly interested.
There may be one or two, and there's always going
to be one or two and that's all it takes.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
That's That's kind of like like Patrick Mahomes when he
signed his deal and then all of a sudden, you
know what I mean, his deal is, but I know.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
He can keep signing special. What I mean, I mean
his deal when he signed it was bad. What I
mean is Patrick Mahomes is special, and so his deal
is always going to look like, Man, you could have
got more than that, you know what I mean. It's
like Lebron and his prime or would be his probably
like sweet could have got more than that. Brock. We
still don't know. We think he's good to maybe even
really good. But there's a chance, like I said, tomorrow,
(18:09):
our next season he goes six and eleven, and that
would be back to back seasons of not looking great.
Where now they can go, oh man, you know, we
shouldn't paid him that much. So I think it's a
fair deal to get it now for him. And here's
the part I was just looking it up right now
you can get the next caller. I'll just tell you
eight seven seven ninety nine on the follow five was
my point. He got another one in him if he's
that good. Drew in New Jersey, you're on the odd
(18:29):
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Drew?
Speaker 9 (18:32):
Hey, guys, I think I would pay him about no
more than forty I'd probably give him like any where
from thirty five.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
Oh he ain't taken thirty five.
Speaker 9 (18:41):
Yeah. But one thing also, you know what fun fact?
You know that if he was in the SEC, he
would be the least paid quarterback.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
And yes, I know, yeah, he's only making like nine
hundred million, I mean one hundred thousand, yes, yeah, which
is crazy. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
But but but Drew this year, did that change anything
about uh brock party four?
Speaker 1 (19:00):
You just watching him play this year?
Speaker 9 (19:03):
No, because he was missing a lot of talent. Now,
the only thing I will say is the n if
the NFC quarterback class is a lot better than it
was when he when he had that crazy year. So
where is he stack up now? Because now he's definitely
bo below Jaydon Daniels. I personally think Baker A Fields
a better quarterback than he is. I would say him
(19:23):
and I'd say Dak and Brock are probably about the same.
But I think that they had a lot of injuries.
But also you got to keep in mind he definitely
saved the forty nine ers. Jim possibly his job. Oh yeah,
because they drafted Trade, they drafted tray Land.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Yeah, no, they moved up for they bet on it.
It is no doubt about that. He saved some jobs.
Donald Lech and the whole crew. Yeah, without a doubt
because that was a swing and a miss real quick.
He said he's playing like thirty five forty, so thirty
five would put him around Baker. That thirty five is low.
(20:00):
That's too low, Aaron Rodgers. But we know he took
a huge cut on you know, he he gave this
Derek carr is at thirty seven half, he's he's gonna
want way more, ain't Derek Carr And did nothing compared
to him. Sorry, Robbie that was your man's for a while.
Matthew Stafford Conna's a haircut at only forty, Daniel Jones
at forty. But Stafford might retire. Yeah, no, he already
said he's not.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Back.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Yeah, like two a couple of days ago. Forty three
for Josh. We know that's about to change at some point.
Maybe they restructure with him. My point is it just
fits to me. Kirk Cousins is forty five. It just
fits where he is, you know what I mean. Deshaun
Watson's at forty six. Kyler Murray at forty six as well,
which is crazy for Kyler Murray. He ain't did them
a run around like a toddler, but he was mad
(20:43):
at them and he forced their hands and then they bit. Yeah.
I mean, he's fine if that's your start, but you
ain't necessarily moving the needle with that. Maybe Steve agrees.
All right, we got Mike Vorkanov on the other side
right now. I gotta say his name when we get
him on too, So don't say it. Then check with
Steve the second out. What's trending.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
App Steve, thank you so much, appreciate shant you, thank
you for a little bit. We got Mike Vorkanoff getting
ready to join us now broadcasting live from the tire
rack dot Com studio. Let me tell you this thing.
Go ahead, go ahead, Fins just gonna tell he's with
the Athletic National NBA reporter.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
So I wanted to say this because the Super Bowl
is in New Orleans, and I remember going to the
Super Bowl in New Orleans in two thousand and two.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Okay, your job, Rob, right? That was that was smart Man, Alex.
Smart man Alex. No, that was a twinkle in his eye.
You saw it? Oh you sat up, look at his arms.
Speaker 7 (21:46):
Yeah, anytime he does this, look Calvin like that.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
Yeah. Oh yeah, that was about to jump. That was
twenty twenty. That was twenty three years ago.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
And so I was just talking to my old radio partner,
Mark Wilson, and we were just reminiscent about.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
A trip to New Orleans or whatever. And then I
did remember.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
That we had there were two rooms, but three of us.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
It was me, Mark and our producer.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
So we had to figure out like who was going
to stay aware or whatever to figure it out.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
So I just all I said was white guys in
one room, black guys in the other room. I got
white guys. I got my own room. That's all. Martin
Luther the King, See he went to have one day
a producer in the radio.
Speaker 6 (22:30):
All right.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
They had a dream that chal can all sleep together.
And then you over here, well, segregating games in nineteen
sixties is going on here. It would have been the
same thing if Chris was in that and we're supposed
to have breakfast with him. No, go ahead. I mean,
I ain't like that joke.
Speaker 10 (22:47):
I don't like I love it, but I liked it.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
It was okay, it was okay. Sorry, let's get to Mike. Mike,
I'm sorry you had to hear this, Mike, all right,
I was just don't you think that was ingenious? No genius?
Even that's asking a lot, Mike. We appreciate you joining us.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
Man.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
How are you.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
I'm good. How are you guys doing.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
I'm doing well. I'm doing all right. But you see
what I'm ending five days a week, all right, man.
The Athletic National NBA reporter, let's talk some who's with you.
I'm gonna start because we're just here based in LA.
Obviously it's a national show. But you know, Lakers, what
do you make of what they're doing with Bronnie? He
had last nighty goods? Was it five points? Please? In
(23:28):
garbage time? Please? You know, And and he's in the
G League, then he's with the team. What are you
making what they're doing and just this whole charades if
you will, of Bronni.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
I mean, I feel like that's such a hard question
to answer. I mean, I feel like they're just trying
to make most of the best of it. I honestly,
it's hard to say, you know, like the fact that
he wasn't playing in all the G League games for
the first half of the season, and obviously now he's
getting some runs with the NBA team with the Lakers.
If he played twelve minutes last night, although it was obviously,
(24:03):
I think it's like a forty point blowout something like that.
You know, this is the circumstances that they've chosen, This
is this is what the kind of Pandora's box that
they opened up when they drafted him, right and everything
that would follow him in the organization. And so now
they're just I think they're just trying to figure it
out and probably trying to make everyone happy. Probably try
(24:24):
to make Brownie happy, We'll bron happy, and you know,
try to nurture a second round pick was probably further
away than most fifty fifth overall picks were.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
No doubt. Let's go to Detroit.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Deadline coming up, Jimmy Butler. Is he going anywhere? I mean,
I can't see where there's a deal anybody. Bradley Beal
kind of put the kai bosh on what Phoenix was hoping.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Where could he wind up?
Speaker 4 (24:52):
I mean, he'd like to go somewhere. We know the
Phoenix thing is hard to do because of Bradley Beial situation. Right,
He's not he doesn't seem very intent waiving his no trade.
I'm sure there's a bunch of options for him that
he might not be happy to. You know, I could
see a Memphis showing interest. I could see Golden State
potentially showing interest right like, that would be an interesting
(25:13):
landing spot for him. The question is does he want
to do that? Does he want to only be on
a phoenix or bust type of outcome for him, and
if he's not willing to move off of that, he's
already shown that he's willing to go go to Ward
to get what he wants. Would that be also something
he does after he gets straight out of Miami? Right Like,
would you know, even if there isn't a promise of
(25:34):
a of another contract this summer, or if he opts
in and it expands after that. Like, so that's the
big question. I think that's hard to answer, just because
this has become so chaotic and so toxic in Miami
right now, Well, all.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Right, I mean let me ask you this one. We're
going to talk about it at some point throughout our show,
but just get your thoughts on Devin Booker, who has
been an All Star, has been in the Olympics before,
but say, hey, sign the NBA goes to fifteen players
on a roster regular roster as fifteen, Why can't the
All Star Game? There's a bunch of snubs and there
were some snubs and rifles snubs every year exactly. But
(26:07):
your thoughts on expanding the roster good idea, bad idea?
The roster?
Speaker 8 (26:14):
Why?
Speaker 4 (26:14):
I feel like the who the whole point is to
make it kind of something special, right, like something for
select a few twelve players per conference. Already this year
it's going to be a little bit different because you've
got fifteen starters instead of the usual ten. Because now
the format this year with four different teams. I don't know.
I kind of like the fact that it's it's you know,
(26:35):
they're expanding the playoff field with the playing tournament. You
got an NBA Cups, you got something else to win.
It does seem at least with the All Star Game,
like you know, it's keeping it at twenty four. I
think keeps the specialty of it a little bit.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Yeah, the All Star Game, I'm really the format what
they're doing. I mean, I think this thing is so
broken it should be scrapped. I have no interest.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
Every time they tell me what's going to happen in
uh San Francisco, I get a headache. I mean, for
teams this that you got to win score eighteen points,
you gotta have four to three points, Like, seriously, is this.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
What is happening here with the NBA? Why can't we
just have like a fun game when guys play hard
for forty eight minutes and then go and enjoy the
rest of the season.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
Well, what are we doing?
Speaker 4 (27:24):
I liked it at you a ending, but I think
the reason why we can't have an over ult games
because we can't get a competitive game, right, And if
you're not going to get a competitive game, then you
got to start figuring out ways to fiddle with it
and try to make it more fun or try to
juice up the competitiveness somehow, and so like, if the
core problem is there, you're just trying to figure out
ways to do it. I mean, I wouldn't be averse
with the NBA just move away from the off our
(27:45):
game and try to figure out other situations and to
replace it. Right, you're basically talking about a two and
a half hour, three hour marketing block for the NBA.
Maybe there's different ways to do it now since the
league's in a different place, both to like in terms
of fans, in terms of people how consume it, watch it,
how frequent they players, and they were you know fifty
(28:05):
sixty years ago when the offer game began, or not
even that seventy years ago. You know, like this all
started had its origins in a much different era medior
era and consumption ara all that.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
But I still think that it's viable if people could
watch just a decent game. Nobody's asking for people to
get heard or overdo it when they play in the summer.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Okay, And when they play in the summer, you see,
you can't tell me.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
You can't tell me that they don't compete in those
games and just play basketball like this whole notion that
they can't play hard or whatever because somebody's going to
get heard or whatever. It's nonsense to me. When they
play in the summer, they played harder than they than
they do this.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
I mean, you don't have to convince me. You have
to convince the players to do that.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
I just I don't understand it. I really don't. It's
a shame. And I think that has something to do
with leadership. Was it a couple of years ago? Was
that last year when they sent in Doctor j and
Larry Bird?
Speaker 1 (28:59):
It is how we talked to the rally up to
the players and the two hundred points each. Oh man, hey, Mike,
I want to ask you this, well one more before
we let you go. I'm looking at some of these
teams and in the standings right now, and I look
at the Rockets and they were, if you will, the
(29:19):
Washington Wizards of the West for a few years, and
they get email Udoko and now they got I'm and
Thompson and some other players, Jalen Green coming around. How
the heck are they such a good if not dag
near very good the great team at thirty two and
fifteen playing some great basketball chagoons and All Star Where
did this come from?
Speaker 4 (29:42):
I mean, it all came together kind of quick, right,
Like they got a coach who really changed the culture there.
Emadoka has worked wonders and some of their young guys
finally are hitting this year, right, Like, you know, it's
been really cool to see kind of the Tarry Eathan
i'm In Thompson combination. Like the way they play defense
(30:04):
is awesome. It's you know, they're I think they're one
of the most fun defensive teams in the league. Alpha
and Shan Gun is really like this creative offensive hub
for them, and uh, Jalen Green seems to be coming
on just a little bit. And so it's been a
nice mix of guys and like a nice mix of
different styles of players too. That's been a good combination
(30:24):
for them. And you're right, they were downtrodden for a
while after that Harden trade and they finally figured it out.
And it helps when you get to take a bunch
of picks in the top three or four of a
draft and you really get to take a lot of flyers.
I'm big in talent, and then they finally hit yep.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Hey, Mike, Man, we appreciate you taking some time out
with us on a Friday talking to hoops with us.
Thank you, Mike working off. If I said that I
said that, I did, I make can feel confident with
that you did?

Right, all right, follow you focus one. I sat it right,
That's all I'm saying. All right, Mike, how much how
many times your name been butt you? Nine out of ten? Correct?
Speaker 4 (30:57):

I don't even mind.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Seven and thirty two, so off within striking distance?
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Yeah, of five hundred. All right, here we go tonight.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
I know.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Thanks kawhi h. Of course, these picks were posted on
social media earlier before the games.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
Milwaukee minus one and a half. They're at San Antonio.
I took Boston minus ten and a half. They were
in New Orleans taking on the Pelicans, and the Pistons
are at home and they're underdogs. But I took the
Pistons plus one.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
And a half. Yeah, they play the Dallas Mavericks. They suck.
They are the underdogs at home. I think that's a
good pick. Lost a couple of eight. Yeah, I think
that's a good pick. And they've lost a couple lately.
Pistons plus one and a half, Boston minus ten and
a half at Milwaukee minus one and a half.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
And remember this, what's that. I'm not telling you who
to bet on. I'm telling you who I bet on.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
All right, So bumb all that. We got to get
back to the story Rob g has for us? Uh yeah,
what's the what what's the story you have for us? Brother?
Speaker 6 (34:13):
It's a little bit embarrassing, but nobody's nobody.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Man, it's just a three four. Take too much off.
Speaker 6 (34:19):
There's not a lot to take off keeping one. But no,
here's the thing. So all the prep work is done, right,
they're getting ready to start everything. The doctors in there,
he's guys like people, just telling what happened. I got
a sect and I was that's why the way that's
built different. But anyways, so, as I said, I take
(34:42):
the anti anxiety and anti anxiety medication. You want to
relax as much as possible. And he's like, hey, if
you want to bring headphones, that's a good idea too.
So I tried streaming the Laker game on my phone,
but the feed wasn't good, so I just went to
Spotify and for whatever reason, historically the music that's always
calmed me down the most is either Frank Sinatra or
(35:03):
nineties R and B music. Okay, I went with nineties
R and B music, right, so it's no big deal.
I'm listening as like some Mariah Carey TLC. When I
tell you right as he's starting the incision boys to men,
I'll make love to you?
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Comes on? Is that bad on me? Or like smart?
Speaker 6 (35:24):
Like that felt weird to me, to be.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Honest with you, How could that be right then and
there that I've all saw that, that to me, I can.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
Tell you that was your last time you go making
loves of myny.
Speaker 6 (35:33):
That's what he and I kind of started to giggle
a little bit and he's like, can you feel that?
Speaker 1 (35:37):
And I'm like, oh no, I don't feel anything. But
what okay, what if two like you were a little
because you're a little rugged up, right or funny, made
you feel funny? And what if you just think about
you know, you and you and your love, your wife
and you know I make you think that a jan
like what if things would have happened down below? What
are you talking about? Nature rods? Yeah, I mean I
could have been bad. I think I don't know.
Speaker 6 (35:58):
Maybe probably, but I don't don't think I physically could have, right,
if I'm that numbed up with light a cane and
all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
Probably It's not.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Like the George Costanzo one way goes to get a
massage and the job.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
And he's like, jeez, and Jerry, it moved. What are
you talking about?
Speaker 10 (36:19):
No, no, no, maybe it was rearranging itself. No, no, no, Jerry,
it moved. And then here's this might be a shopt
off for later. So during the prep, the doctor doesn't
do it. You know, the nurse in this case is
a male nurse. He's coming in, he's getting me all situated.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
They saved some stuff. No I was.
Speaker 6 (36:33):
I already had to do it myself. It made that
very clear. They say, if you come in full beard,
you're leaving here. So I said, okay, okay, So I
was all cleaned up. But they have to tape things
down and make sure they're not in the way and
all that stuff. But while he's doing it, he's just
talking to me. He's talking to me about what's going
on and you know at this park down the street,
and what's going on with traffic, and what's going on
(36:54):
with the ice. The word like, do you want the
guy who's gonna talk to you while all this is
going on?
Speaker 3 (37:00):
Or I just wanted to be quiet and doesn't want
to make it so that you're like the nervous And yeah,
I meana they talk whenever they do those things.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
So I could also see somebody that don't you see.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
The major surgeries when they got their music that they're
playing all out that like right, So when Rob.
Speaker 6 (37:16):
When you get your colonoscopy, do you talk to the nurse? No,
you crack jokes. No, I'm just trying.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
I'm just tight. They need to get in, bro, you
got loosen up. I feel like girls loosen them up.
Speaker 6 (37:34):
How old is that front desk girl about it?
Speaker 1 (37:36):
I was just wondering, curious for my cousin. No, not
for me, for me, Come on, god, I'm trying to
say the truth. Well, we're glad you're back, Roberie. I'm
actually magic're back. I told you earlier as you're back
too early, man, I don't know what's going to New
Orleans on Monday, did you did you swap your ticket?
Speaker 6 (37:52):
No, they stopped calling me.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
The YouTube, yeah, nope, they didn't call me. Somebody took
that offer.
Speaker 6 (37:58):
We were trying to get that first.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
You did the right thing, because you start mixing, messing
with tickets and then you're gonna have.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
A problem and mess around not getting there. Devery book
is wrong. We'll tell you why. Rob. Tell them you're
flying Sunday now.
