beat the Eagles. Stop Saquon Barkley, who averaged two yards
of carry fifty seven yards on what twenty five carries,

and they blew out the Chiefs. But that was the
game plan because everybody was so busy disrespecting Jalen Hurts.
Is he the best quarterback in the league? No, but
this dude can play. Can we stop already with this?
We saw it a couple of years ago in the
Super Bowl. He had a performance that it was suitable

for framing like your College of picture. I mean, it
was fantastic. Other than the fumble. We might have beaten
him then as well the Chiefs. So now that he
has the Super Bowl ring and the MVP or whatever,
maybe we can calm down on this Jalen Hurts and
whether or not this guy is good or not.

Is he the best player? No, best quarterback?

No, but the idea of people kept second guessing whether
or not he could play. Despite It's not like we
didn't see flashes of it. We saw a whole season
of it. Last year he struggled, but a new offensive coordinator,
and this year I think he finally got what they
were trying to do and even said it. They were
basically because the run game was so strong, you don't

need to throw it around the yard. But guess what
when they locked down and put an extra man in
a couple guys to stop say kwon Barkley. Did that
stop the Eagles? No, it did not.

He made some great throatta. I think the only difference
I would say, I have a few different talks. I
want you to talk you sure, yes, hold on breaking news.
Depend the that Rob Parker is done in two minutes flat.
That means you must want to eat you a little

is his future, man, it's about to be scary, we thought.

And then there was a regression. Last year he threw
a bunch of interception what was it like fifteen interceptions
last year?

He didn't look like himself coming off that Super Bowl.

So we're Rodrick Mahomes, who so we said, it hasn't
looked like what we he traditionally does. So the same
way you questioned Patrick Home, same way Patrick Mahomes's question, like, man,
I got to get better throughout the season. That's a
fair criticism to have of Jalen Hurts was to say, man,
something seems a little offer.

He's not quite what you know we thought. Can you

Yeah, people were making him like he was the weak
link and all you got to do is stop Saquan
Not that's the problem.

let me continue to walk you through the season. What
made it weird? You hear about he and Nick Sirianni
having issues in the offseason, you know, coming to that
having some real issues because he wants to say, hey,
let me lose, let me get busy more, let me
do what I know I can do. Them saying now
we want to run it more. Kellen Moore wants to
run the ball more. Ultimately, great decision. But when you're

seeing these things in real time, you have his own
receivers coming out. Rob this is this is why I'm saying.
It wasn't just man, he can't play. It was like, man,
what's going on with them? His own receivers? You see
what it is. I ain't getting the ball, DeVante Smith
not saying something. So I think there was more of
a question of like, well, what seems to be the issue.
He wants to pass more, they don't want to. The
receivers mad at him. So it was more of a

why isn't why is there seem to be a disconnect,
And then you get into this particular gang what you're
talking about. They shut the heck down of Sa Kwan
the Chiefs. Good job there, But because the defense of
the Eagles de mallis the Chiefs, we didn't get to
see the scenario I was talking about. My question was
through the ball, but it was easy when I'm turning

the ball over in the resild. Now you got the
ball at the twenty when we got absolutely so my
scenario was the MVP because he had three scores from
the two yard lost. So Jalen Hurts is absolutely one
of the better quarterbacks. That's what our question. I think
what work a question is is he in the four?
Is he Joe Burrow? Is he Patrick mahons, Lamar Jackson,

Josh Allen. And a scenario I was painting was, let's
say it was twenty four twenty Eagles have the ball,
they got to start throwing it. Can they make the plays?
And that was the question I had. It wasn't could
he run the offense and be successful. He's done nothing
but that his career for.

But he still had to make throws because they weren't
running their their big hors got stopped.

Right, And so what I'm saying is he ran, He
threw the ball to the tune of what two hundred

like I don't that still doesn't make me walk away
wondering if it comes down to that is all I'm saying.

In a game that will get where the defense was.

I think he know he played the perfect game under
all conditions, and I think he is one of the
better quarterbacks.

Because the Super Bowl where he balled out, they lost, right, Yeah,
so they lost that game.

But this game where he did was the perfect exactly
what they were supposed to do. And I thought that
Turno was scary for a moment there because I'm like, oh,
like if they they meeting the Chiefs were to get
that and go down the score, it could kind of
changed it. Under the game, Oh, they their offense was trash.
They had one first down in tyre first half twenty
three yards. The defense of the Eagles was incredible. The
question now becomes, has Jared Jalen Hurts jumped into the

top three four guys? Has he taken out jo.

I don't think he's taking out anybody, like as far
as talent, because it's not just if you win.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
So then then to me, he did exactly. He did
what we kind of thought.

No, but I think that there were a lot of
people who were believing that he wasn't. I mean, I
told you to Michael Parsons. It was disrespectful, Like all
you got to do is stop say kwa, well, well
all year right. If that was the formula and it
was that elementary, you don't think any other defensive coordinators
would have been able to do it.

I think that sounds good, but it ain't.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
That's the difference to me, And this is why there's
a gap still between he and Jay and Lamar Jackson.
But credit him because he's the one in the ring.
He can look at the mar and say I got
the ring. But the difference is better. But this is this,
it's I agree. This is why why I'm explaining this
For me.

Dan Marino have a Super Bowl ring and no one's
gonna sit there and go he don't belong in was
on the top grade the quarterbacks.

Ever, the reason I say this though, the difference is
Derrick Henry had almost the same output as Saquon right
to two hundred yards give or take two hundred three
hundred yards short. Yet Lamar's numbers went through the roof
in comparison to last year. So Saquan being in addition
into the to Jalen Hurts, it was he had good stats,

but he didn't have like crazy ridiculous stats. And that's
the difference to me of Likeel Lamar where you can
add him if he were to have Saquon, And that
doesn't diminish from me or I mean I have to
play a lesser role. I can still be even more
incredibly because I have that person and that's just a differentiator.
And Patrick Mahomes as of now is still kind of
the leader of this camp. So obviously Jalen Hurts isn't

on that level, and then Josh Allen will be similar
to the Maar.

I think Patrick Mahomes, that's only on rep and it
ain't on a bill on what he's on, how he's
played the last couple of years. The best players, Lamar,
I've said that. I just I can't look at Pallyholmes
the same. And we'll talk about that. That's an hour
number three. It's just because because it's been it's been
too long. It's a long sample side. That's all I'm saying.

they lost yesterday.

I've been saying this for two years now. That's what

player all year, I've been saying that, you've been saying
to Lamar. So Lamar to me, has proved to be
the best player. He now needs that to translate in
the postseason. But just toways win a championship. But on
a basis, to me, the best player in the NFL

is Lamar Jackson.

I mean, he's got plenty of years. I mean I
said it to Sean. I mean I said it to
uh Sean King, who will be coming up. I mean
John Elway didn't win to his last two years.

Yeah he went to but he at least went to
a bunch so and I'm I'm not saying but he's
still just won to to he was two and three,
so people were cool with that.

I mean, but Denver's always had great defense and there's
a lot of stuff that goes in it. But all
I'm saying to you is once he won, nobody cared
out the other stuff, and the same thing will happen
with Lamar.

And Jalen Hurts.

To me again, two Super Bowl appearances, one win, played
great in the one he lost. He has really shouldn't
have doubters in that. He's a competent leader. He is
a good quarterback. He's a dual threat. If for him,
he wants to get to that next level, and it's
up to him where he you know where He's mentioned
in the top three, top four then keep doing what

he's doing. So I think he's proved the doubters wrong
that he can lead a team to the championship. He's
really like a a another NFC Rock Purty.

But how many how many videos did did I see today?
I oh, Jalen Heards an apology, Dan Olovsky, all these
NFL who played quarterback in the league.

because they got the hype of that, I mean, enjoy me, like, wow,
this man, we got another great stud in the league
and then you have a down season. So to me,

So that's a compliment to him that that's what happens.
Jane Daniels messed around to have a season we're gonna
have right here, ja, and we're gonna be saying it.

Jaye Daniels one of the ones or no is he
was that an anomaly, So that just happens. So it's
a compliment to him that, you know, we were wanting
to hold him up here down season. Can he bounce
back some weird things this season with beefs and receivers
and all that he pushed through. He persevered, So credit
him for getting the job done. And now he's and
he said, I want to come back better than this.

He sat there in that confetti two years ago he said,
that's all that's been on my brain. He got the
job done. So congrats to him. And that's what you
gotta do when they're gonna criticize you from time to time.
When you like Patrick Mahomes, he deserves to be criticized
right now for how he's played this year hasn't been
the smoke the greatest, and then how he played in
the Super Bowl. It'll be up to him to come

back and quiet the noise next year. The best part
about being the Lions. Playing for the Lions, you have
to worry about getting confetti in your hair, the light
of lions catching straight, ain't mind number day and can't

the Eagles won because I didn't think the Eagles to win.
I was surprised that they dominated them the way they did.

the defense and when Patrick Mahomes struggles, he plays against

this type of defense, a team that rushes for drops
seven in coverage. They played tight covers from the back
and they flow to the ball extremely well. They get
fresher on the quarterbacks with their front four and that
causes him issues. And they have struggled in his career
losing games teams like that. And obviously they just could
not block the guys up front. They were just causing
(22:23):
havoc and they just couldn't find their rhythm.

It was amazing. What no blitzes.
Speaker 5 (22:32):
They said, no blitzer, But that's what couple blitzer because
the linebacker came one time hit Patrick. I think it
was like in a many third or fourth quarter hitting
right after he threw it. So they had a couple
of blitzes. They say there was none, but there was
a couple, maybe just the one off the top of
my head for sure. But you know that's not what
they do. Vick has done a great job this year

knowing that he didn't need to blitz with the guys
that he has up front. And this team is going
to be set for quite a while because there's a
young team. They got to They got the off the
line uh under contract, you got a young quarterback, you
got some good receivers, you got you got Barkley under contract.

This is a really good team that maybe it can
repeat if they put it all together again.

Let me ask you this. The Chiefs had a guard
playing left tackle. Some people were saying, Rod, that's a
mistake because now you weaken two positions by moving somebody
out of position.

Yeah? I think, I think sometimes. I know they tried
other people out there, and I guess Andy just a
month the weight it looked. And but when you do
move the guard to tackle, which he doesn't play tackle,
now you've got to bring another guard in. You know,
you're you're basically playing with two guys now, Listen, seems

a he's a he did a solid job all year long.
He just couldn't play against these dudes, right, So you
know you got to take your hat off to him.
I don't. I don't. I wouldn't blame the coaches. I
just wouldn't say anything bad about the cause I think
Andy Reid has done a tremendous job with the football team.
Sometimes you do got to make changes. Sometimes you got

to move pieces around. And when guys, uh, you know,
when you say, okay, listen, we've tried X Y Z
at the tackle spot, he hasn't been the guy. Let's
move our guard over there. He's probably better. He's been there,
he's been through the wars, he's been through the rigor.

they just couldn't block the guys with the Philly had

time for them to get some more explosive options.

he's making some money off you got a couple off
of the players, of making them off of the lineman
and making some money, it's hard. It's hard to move
all that money around. You get you have sixty three
guys on the rockster that goes under the south the

salary cap, and you got to pick and choose what
you want. It's hard to get a lot of great
guys that play at a very high level under the cap,
especially when you pay the quarterbacks the way they pay
the quarterbacks nowadays. Right, So to me, I don't know
if they got to do a whole bunch. Do they
need a couple They need a couple of players, but

they need game changers on the defensive side. Like I
think the defense is solid, but I think they need
a couple of game changes. Listen, listen, they went after
the young corner for Kansasity Watson. They went after him,
So you know, do you try to upgrade that if
they feel that that's, you know, somebody that they're going

to keep targeting in the near future. Maybe so, But listen,
they've done it. Going to going to three Super Bowls
in a row is not a bad thing. So yeah,
I like what they've done. Uh yeah, they didn't win
this one, but you know he still got.

Fifteen Well well let me ask you about that, because
fifteen Rod the last two years, and I know, winning
covers up everything and you know, like makeup and if
you win, you kind of don't look closely at everything

got worthy, he had a couple of splash plays, but
not having that kind of a dynamic duel when you

running game and fifteen, right, you don't have you don't
you don't have? I mean worthy isn't. Maybe next year
he will be a little bit better and he'll have
more splash plays and that he can take the top
being off of the defense like Tyrek Hillier stud and
they can come back and have another explosive offense. But

it's tough to keep doing it year after your year.
Eventually somebody they kind of find a blueprint for you.
You know, Should you be ashamed of that? Absolutely not.
Can they bounce back from it? I think they can.
The question is, I don't know about this. I don't
know what the cap situation is. I don't how much
money they have, how close they are to the cap.

And that's that's one another main thing you know, if
you another team that has a lot of veterans or
you know, consistent presence veteran presidents on their football team,
they're going to be close to the cap. So I
don't know how much money they have to spend in
free agency. Uh. And if they want to keep getting
young at the receiving core, do you try to reach

out and try to find one of those guys that
you believe in that can make a difference in you?

Is he the best quarterback in the league? No, but

was fantastic. Other than the fumble. We might have beaten
him then as well the Chiefs. So now that he

maybe we can calm down on this Jalen Hurts and
whether or not this guy is good or not.

Is he the best player? No, best quarterback?

No, but the idea of people kept second guessing whether
or not he could play. Despite It's not like we
didn't see flashes of it. We saw a whole season
of it. Last year he struggled, but a new offensive coordinator,
and this year I think he finally got what they
were trying to do and even said it. They were
basically because the run game was so strong, you don't

need to throw it around the yard. But guess what
when they locked down and put an extra man in
a couple guys to stop say kwon Barkley. Did that
stop the Eagles? No, it did not.

He made some great throatta. I think the only difference
I would say, I have a few different talks. I

Depend the that Rob Parker is done in two minutes flat.

looked like what we he traditionally does. So the same
way you questioned Patrick Home, same way Patrick Mahomes's question, like, man,
I got to get better throughout the season. That's a
fair criticism to have of Jalen Hurts was to say, man,
something seems a little offer.

He's not quite what you know we thought. Can you
say this?
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Yeah, people were making him like he was the weak
link and all you got to do is stop Saquan
Not that's the problem.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
I'm about to get to that. So I'm about to
get to that. Let me before I get to that,
let me continue to walk you through the season. What
made it weird? You hear about he and Nick Sirianni
having issues in the offseason, you know, coming to that
having some real issues because he wants to say, hey,
let me lose, let me get busy more, let me
do what I know I can do. Them saying now
we want to run it more. Kellen Moore wants to
run the ball more. Ultimately, great decision. But when you're

seeing these things in real time, you have his own
receivers coming out. Rob this is this is why I'm saying.
It wasn't just man, he can't play. It was like, man,
what's going on with them? His own receivers? You see
what it is. I ain't getting the ball, DeVante Smith
not saying something. So I think there was more of
a question of like, well, what seems to be the issue.
He wants to pass more, they don't want to. The
receivers mad at him. So it was more of a

why isn't why is there seem to be a disconnect,
And then you get into this particular gang what you're
talking about. They shut the heck down of Sa Kwan
the Chiefs. Good job there, But because the defense of
the Eagles de mallis the Chiefs, we didn't get to
see the scenario I was talking about. My question was
through the ball, but it was easy when I'm turning
(06:22):
the ball over in the resild. Now you got the
ball at the twenty when we got absolutely so my
scenario was the MVP because he had three scores from
the two yard lost. So Jalen Hurts is absolutely one
of the better quarterbacks. That's what our question. I think
what work a question is is he in the four?
Is he Joe Burrow? Is he Patrick mahons, Lamar Jackson,

Josh Allen. And a scenario I was painting was, let's
say it was twenty four twenty Eagles have the ball,
they got to start throwing it. Can they make the plays?
And that was the question I had. It wasn't could
he run the offense and be successful. He's done nothing
but that his career for.

But he still had to make throws because they weren't
running their their big hors got stopped.

Right, And so what I'm saying is he ran, He
threw the ball to the tune of what two hundred
and twenty yards, and he had a good game. But
like I don't that still doesn't make me walk away
wondering if it comes down to that is all I'm saying.

In a game that will get where the defense was.

I don't know what else he could have done.

I think he know he played the perfect game under
all conditions, and I think he is one of the
better quarterbacks.

Because the Super Bowl where he balled out, they lost, right, Yeah,
so they lost that game.

But this game where he did was the perfect exactly
what they were supposed to do. And I thought that
Turno was scary for a moment there because I'm like, oh,
like if they they meeting the Chiefs were to get
that and go down the score, it could kind of
changed it. Under the game, Oh, they their offense was trash.
They had one first down in tyre first half twenty
three yards. The defense of the Eagles was incredible. The
question now becomes, has Jared Jalen Hurts jumped into the

top three four guys? Has he taken out jo.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
I don't think he's taking out anybody, like as far
as talent, because it's not just if you win.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
So then then to me, he did exactly. He did
what we kind of thought.

No, but I think that there were a lot of
people who were believing that he wasn't. I mean, I
told you to Michael Parsons. It was disrespectful, Like all
you got to do is stop say kwa, well, well
all year right. If that was the formula and it
was that elementary, you don't think any other defensive coordinators
would have been able to do it.

I think that sounds good, but it ain't.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
That's the difference to me, And this is why there's
a gap still between he and Jay and Lamar Jackson.
But credit him because he's the one in the ring.
He can look at the mar and say I got
the ring. But the difference is better. But this is this,
it's I agree. This is why why I'm explaining this
For me.

Dan Marino have a Super Bowl ring and no one's
gonna sit there and go he don't belong in was
on the top grade the quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Ever, the reason I say this though, the difference is
Derrick Henry had almost the same output as Saquon right
to two hundred yards give or take two hundred three
hundred yards short. Yet Lamar's numbers went through the roof
in comparison to last year. So Saquan being in addition
into the to Jalen Hurts, it was he had good stats,
(09:24):
but he didn't have like crazy ridiculous stats. And that's
the difference to me of Likeel Lamar where you can
add him if he were to have Saquon, And that
doesn't diminish from me or I mean I have to
play a lesser role. I can still be even more
incredibly because I have that person and that's just a differentiator.
And Patrick Mahomes as of now is still kind of

the Eagles won because I didn't think the Eagles to win.
I was surprised that they dominated them the way they did.
And but when you go back, hay I said it,
you know on radio row, is that when you look
back at how big Fangio is to set up to
the defense and when Patrick Mahomes struggles, he plays against

this type of defense, a team that rushes for drops
seven in coverage. They played tight covers from the back
and they flow to the ball extremely well. They get
fresher on the quarterbacks with their front four and that
causes him issues. And they have struggled in his career
losing games teams like that. And obviously they just could
not block the guys up front. They were just causing
(22:23):
havoc and they just couldn't find their rhythm.

It was amazing. What no blitzes.
Speaker 5 (22:32):
They said, no blitzer, But that's what couple blitzer because
the linebacker came one time hit Patrick. I think it
was like in a many third or fourth quarter hitting
right after he threw it. So they had a couple
of blitzes. They say there was none, but there was
a couple, maybe just the one off the top of
my head for sure. But you know that's not what
they do. Vick has done a great job this year

knowing that he didn't need to blitz with the guys
that he has up front. And this team is going
to be set for quite a while because there's a
young team. They got to They got the off the
line uh under contract, you got a young quarterback, you
got some good receivers, you got you got Barkley under contract.

This is a really good team that maybe it can
repeat if they put it all together again.

Let me ask you this. The Chiefs had a guard
playing left tackle. Some people were saying, Rod, that's a
mistake because now you weaken two positions by moving somebody

Can I get some offensive guys? They kind of been
cheap and figuring it out a penny pension. Is it
time for them to get some more explosive options.

Yeah, But when they're when they're paying your court quarterback
and you know you got you got your d lineman,
he's making some money off you got a couple off
of the players, of making them off of the lineman
and making some money, it's hard. It's hard to move
all that money around. You get you have sixty three
guys on the rockster that goes under the south the

salary cap, and you got to pick and choose what
you want. It's hard to get a lot of great
guys that play at a very high level under the cap,
especially when you pay the quarterbacks the way they pay
the quarterbacks nowadays. Right, So to me, I don't know
if they got to do a whole bunch. Do they
need a couple They need a couple of players, but

they need game changers on the defensive side. Like I
think the defense is solid, but I think they need
a couple of game changes. Listen, listen, they went after
the young corner for Kansasity Watson. They went after him,
So you know, do you try to upgrade that if
they feel that that's, you know, somebody that they're going

to keep targeting in the near future. Maybe so, But listen,
they've done it. Going to going to three Super Bowls
in a row is not a bad thing. So yeah,
I like what they've done. Uh yeah, they didn't win
this one, but you know he still got.

fifteen Rod the last two years, and I know, winning
covers up everything and you know, like makeup and if

you don't have? I mean worthy isn't. Maybe next year
he will be a little bit better and he'll have
more splash plays and that he can take the top
being off of the defense like Tyrek Hillier stud and
they can come back and have another explosive offense. But

it's tough to keep doing it year after your year.
Eventually somebody they kind of find a blueprint for you.
You know, Should you be ashamed of that? Absolutely not.
Can they bounce back from it? I think they can.
The question is, I don't know about this. I don't
know what the cap situation is. I don't how much
money they have, how close they are to the cap.

And that's that's one another main thing you know, if
you another team that has a lot of veterans or
you know, consistent presence veteran presidents on their football team,
they're going to be close to the cap. So I
don't know how much money they have to spend in
free agency. Uh. And if they want to keep getting
young at the receiving core, do you try to reach

out and try to find one of those guys that
you believe in that can make a difference in you?
