Speaker 2 (00:22):
You're listening to the best of the Odd Couple.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
All right, let's go here, rob G. News of the day, Yeah,
let's get to it. Kevin Durant last time, the last
game of the night. For people who were sleep or
didn't know or whatever, or maybe you didn't watch the news,
he had a milestone yesterday.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
That's right, Kevin Durant last night became just the eighth
player in NBA history to crack the thirty thousand point mark.
Congratulations to KD. Bozzeltoff, two time champ, two times Final
MVP and now if we don't even know it, one
of the all greatest scorers to ever touch a basketball,
and you.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
Know what, no doubt about it.

Speaker 6 (01:04):
I can remember the first time I saw him at
the Palace of Auburn Hills playing the Pistons for the
first time, you know, up close he was real thin.
Everybody was ran and raving about this guy, unbelievable scorer,
unbelievable shooter, or just a tremendous player.

Speaker 5 (01:21):
But I'll tell you this.

Speaker 6 (01:23):
That came in the thirty thousand point mark and I
get it the Sons of Scoffland, but that didn't even
move the needle. People just are out on KD. I've
said it before here on the odd couple. Kevin Durant
is NBA dead most players. Only eight players have done this.

(01:47):
This would have been a big deal. But Kevin Durant,
as good as he is, we know that the two
finals MVPs with the Warriors. Me and you both agree.
If he wasn't there, they ain't winning. Knows Lebron might
have two more. Let's just keep it real. He was outstanding.
He was the best player, no question. But since then,

(02:11):
the way his career is taken a path with the
Brooklyn stop and the injuries, I want out of air
and then trade him right away. They trade him to
the Suns. He goes there, You remember the injury with
no contact, He's doing a layup line. He gets injured,
and now the Suns or a garbage dump like like seriously,

(02:32):
they really are, Like what are they? They were supposed
to be when he went there, You remember, everybody was
jumping on that bandwaggon about how great, Oh my god,
Kevin Durant, they got the team. Oh my, this is
going to be a problem. No, it has not been
a problem. And I believe that Kevin Durant, as great
as he is, doesn't move the needle.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
He's NBA dead.

Speaker 7 (02:54):
The craziest thing about KD is, for about a decade ish,
he was undoubtedly the second best player in the NBA.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
He even knew it.

Speaker 7 (03:03):
His whole point was I remember that, you know, in
an interview, he said, I'm tired of being second. Hey,
I'm tired chasing Lebron. I want to be the one.
I want to be the win in the titles. I
want to be the one, you know, MVPs. I want
to be that guy. And I appreciated that opening honesty. Hey,
he wants to be top dog, the top dog. The
issue is, for as great as he is, you just
mentioned it. I say it every time people, especially living

(03:24):
in LA. Who's the best scoring a great score you've
ever seen? I said, with my own eyes, it's Kevin Durant,
not Kobe Bryant, if you ask me, the hardest, tough
shot maker, Kobe Bryant, if you ask me, you know
the person who may be the lead my franchise over
him and Kobe Kobe Bryant, but the flat out best
scorer who makes it look easy on all levels. He's
gonna shoot ninety from free throw, forty from three, fifty

(03:45):
from the field, go post, you up, mid range, three pointers,
knockdown free throws, whatever you want, left hand, right hand.
Kevin Durant is the best scorer overseen. I didn't see
Jordan play in person, so always start with that.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
You want that young huh?

Speaker 7 (03:58):
I mean his heyday. I have gone, you know, like
if someone took me, but I just never saw or person. Yeah,
he's like the one kind of the great.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
And I always say like I was spoiled because that's
when David Stern moved the sports writers from up top
to court side.

Speaker 5 (04:12):
Was during the Jordan ear. He's like, y'all need to
see this.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
I watched and I heard all the chirping and the
you know what I mean, and all that stuff up close.
I tell you all the time, that famous Craig Elo
shot I'm sitting.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
Courtside like, like unbelievable.

Speaker 6 (04:28):
And I remember Clifton Brown worked for the New York Times,
a basketball writer, and I remember turning the cliff and
I said, they're they're going to let Jordan get the ball,
like if I'm the coach anybody, But you guys are
going to defend because it was just an inbounds and
whoever had it had to shoot, I would have had
two guys on Jordan and make them pass to somebody else.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
They let you. I just couldn't believe it.

Speaker 6 (04:52):
I was like, of all people people, he's going to
kill you, and he and you.

Speaker 7 (04:57):
Saw the superior athleticism. He just hunt Craig Elo. Craig
was on here just like I'm a normal human. I'm
gonna go him down now that I can't hang in
the air this the levitation ain't like that. Mike said, no,
I'm gonnang up here another extra second and a half.
But yeah, here's my issue with Kevin Durant. I said
all that to say how great he is, But Kevin
Durant was too great to become a hitman for hire.

(05:19):
Kevin Durant was too great to be a king without
a Kingdom. And that's my issue with Kevin Durant is
that for the scoring, it makes sense top you know,
eighth person ever get thirty thousand points. Absolutely for the
minute he walked into a basketball court at the national stage,
even at Texas, he was a walking bucket. Choose the
Seattle SuperSonics turned Oklahoma City Thunder.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
A walking bucket.

Speaker 7 (05:43):
Everywhere he's gone, he has been that, even with Steph Curry,
two time MVP walking bucket Kevin Durant.

Speaker 5 (05:49):
But the problem is what he's become. He's just floating around.

Speaker 7 (05:54):
Remember the show Kung Fu, where you just floating around
from town to town, from city to city. Who needs
some help in this town? Who needs some help in
this city? That's what Kevin Durant became. David car David Karndy. Yep,
he became a hit man for hire. And you don't
identify him with something right, you don't identify him. This
is where he is, this is where his home was.
And to be honest, Rober makes it even weirders he

(06:17):
was getting kicked out of places. You're the one in
Oklahoma City Thunder. Russell Westbrook was absolutely great, but it
was supposed to be your team he chose to Liday,
they let me get out here. Russe is too much,
he's too hard on me. Let me get out of here.
You go to the Warriors. You're the best player of
the team. I know, Steph's most popular face. You're the
one two times final. You're the better player. They start

(06:38):
picking on you. Draymond saying this, d ain't.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
Showing you love.

Speaker 7 (06:40):
The B word, called him the beat during the game,
caught him a bee worst said we want without you,
we'll win. After you got picked on left again. Then
instead of going and like I'm about to do my thing,
god to Kyrie, calls him, hey me, you James Harden,
let's go over here. That that don't work out. And
he played well, but that don't work out.

Speaker 6 (06:58):
That foot on the line change the legacy and dude
makes that. Remember the Spots won the championship that year.
Had he made that shot, you remember because Kyrie was
hurt and so was hardened. Yep, and he go there
in the game was seven, He had like fifty some point,
was balling and it gets that's the game winner.

Speaker 5 (07:17):
If its foot's not on the line, I mean that
would have changed.

Speaker 7 (07:20):
Every absolutely had a chance to so Now it's weird
telling the story of Kevin Durant because you're like, man,
he's as great as you tell me. Well, why doesn't
he have an identifia home, identifiable home? Why do people
why are people upset that he won two championship with
the Warriors? Why is he hopping from this team to
this team and not making a difference when he hops
to the team. That's what makes it even where he

(07:41):
goes to a team and it's not necessarily making the difference.
Because Kevin Durant is here now in this stretch of
his career, so marvel of a talent, probably play another
two three years, which means he might be able to
get in the top five. I have to, you know,
look at the numbers a little bit.

Speaker 6 (07:54):
But remember, let's give him some respect because he with
all those injuries, he's missed two and a half seasons,
so it's incredible eight with missing two and a half almost.

Speaker 7 (08:03):
Three seas and how that's incredible, And how great he's
playing right now. I mean, he was balling last night,
but that team is bad. But I'm just saying how
he's still as far as being a bucket. So it's
hard to tell the story of Kevin Durant. But the
scoring has never been an issue. The best score I've
ever seen in p just he just you look up,
you like he probably got what twenty four tonight. I'm
talking in person. You look at it. Thirty five is
the easiest thirty five. You're like, god money, no doubt.

(08:26):
It's just easy money when you watch him. So it's
been the overall of it all has been a little
underwhelming considering how great he is, but dynamic, the best
player from like I said, behind Lebron for like a decade.

Speaker 2 (08:37):

Speaker 6 (08:49):
All right, let's turn to the NFL. We already know
Aaron Rodgers is going to be on the move. There's
already been some speculation about where he could wind up.
You know, there's some teams out there that teams, as
we talk about all the time, you need a quarterback
football that have to half.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
The league needs a quarterback.

Speaker 7 (09:08):
As much as we can talk, you can say Aaron Rodgers,
wasn't this what you can say, I don't believe it,
Sam Donald and Brock whatever, there's there are not thirty
two quality starting quarterbacks in the nf NO.

Speaker 5 (09:20):
And that's the issue.

Speaker 6 (09:21):
There's about twelve or fifteen of them, and there's thirty two.

Speaker 7 (09:24):
And then there's about five or six they're like, I
guess and then the rest.

Speaker 6 (09:29):
Hey, man, we need a guy and another guy. I
canna mention you was a starter? Think about think about that.

Speaker 7 (09:34):
He was just Cally Brissett every other year as a starter,
you know what I mean. Jameis Winston was a starter
for some some games. So like, there's ten guys that
you'll go Bryce Young, the Jerry still got I think
his future once he gets away from Panthers could be
better than it is. But my point is there's always
gonna be room. So as much as you can say
about Aaron Rodgers, there's someone that might go, well, if
we can just get eighty percent of what he used

(09:55):
to be, you know, the best version of Aaron Rodgers,
whatever that is right now, Man, we could do this.
Maybe he's from the Bay Area, forty nine ers, we know, man,
what would he look like there as backup? But then
what if Brock goes out as something you can say,
but Pittsburgh Steelers right now, rob are the betting favorites
with Vegas. Uh to land Aaron Rodgers, as they are
gonna be looking like moving away from Russell Wilson. So

(10:16):
then maybe they feel again taking a shot at the
you know, they're not gonna right now, the betting landing spot,
potential landing spot for Aaron Rodgers is in fact the
Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
But that's weird because they have two quarterbacks and and uh,
but I think the census is Russell Wood.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
They're gonna move on from Russell Wilson.

Speaker 7 (10:39):
And I think that's why all of a sudden Aaron Rodgers,
because it's almost the same thing. Who's a guy that's
won a Super Bowl that we're just a guy away,
go get Aaron Rodgers And maybe they would do the opposite,
or at least how or like how it started with
get Aaron Rodgers in case Justin Fields doesn't work.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
Now if you're Justine.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
At this point, I mean, like every time I go,
they bringing in a quarterback that won a Super But
that leads.

Speaker 7 (11:01):
Me to the conversation we're having right now. So they
have one of the one of the Steelers Steelers safeties.
He is actually as Deshaun Elliott, he commented. He said
he was talking about this someone asking him on and
he shared the news on Instagram. He said, leave his
at the retirement home. Dang, but he didn't say no,

(11:22):
I'm straight. You know we'll pass. No, I really like
Justin Fields or no trust in our organization.

Speaker 5 (11:28):
They do right to Justin Fields.

Speaker 7 (11:29):
Yeah, but remember after half to the locker room was
torn and half one in Russell, half one justin Field.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
No.

Speaker 7 (11:36):
That was with the reports was that there was a
torn locker room because guys were like there were four
and two with Justin other guys.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
When they won the five in the row, did they
move over to Russell. No, that was when they lost
the six in a row. They didn't lose six.

Speaker 7 (11:47):
Yeah, you know what market down rod is are all
going battle. We're gonna be seventy two years old. Russell
Wilson retired. I wonder do you want it? Because I
told you think it's wrong. No, I think it's some regret.
But I told you all along that when Russe to Wilson,
help I did, Rob, you did, That's what you know?

Speaker 5 (12:03):
You know me? You were right?

Speaker 7 (12:04):
But Rob g will I be right if Russell's kicked
out and Justin Fields is starting this coming.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
Yes, then you will be right?

Speaker 7 (12:09):
All right?

Speaker 5 (12:09):
Agel will shifted? Was what did I say? All year?
Then they lost six?

Speaker 4 (12:15):
At some point there's gotta be a limit to be like, yeah,
I was right about this, I was right about that.
But then when you're wrong, like deb said, we will
never get to the point where we can't we can't
get to spind out someone else was wrong. I will
make you I was wrong.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
I was wrong. You're saying I'm VJA. Is that what
you're saying? What Michael was? All right? Right? You got
it's a little by that says TV talk back. You
gotta hit that. See they didn't hear what I just said.
Right there, Rob, I'm just playing. You know it ain't
me so yeah, but that's the question.

Speaker 7 (12:48):
I'm gonna hold that up, Rob, Rob g When Justin
Field starts coming this season, I'll be right again, right
because they kicked Russell out of town. But no, but Rob,
it's so interesting the irony of Aaron Rodgers to me
becoming the ending, not the beginning of his career, in
middle of his career, but the ending going out like
Brett Farve is so odd because they're so different we

(13:10):
thought initially even their style of play. One is more calculated,
Averts risk, you know, more accurate than the other guy.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
I am letting this thing fly more of a bit,
you know, the drink.

Speaker 7 (13:20):
But Wiser's with the guy kind of a guy, and
Brett Favr and Rodgers a little bit more reserved to
an extent, a little more calculated or even who he
deals with seemed like different types of guys.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
But the ending is starting to turn into the same guy.

Speaker 7 (13:32):
Literally to the fact of playing on the same team
with the Jets always kind of we're tearing from him
talking about it there in the media and defence is.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
I will say, this is Brett Farv as somebody who
was covering the league, you know, like extensively at that time.
They just got tired because he always was wishy washy,
what if not he wanted.

Speaker 7 (13:51):
That's Aaron Rodgers is becoming that now. But you're not
gonna go to my dark place. I don't know play.

Speaker 6 (13:57):
I mean, like I'm talking about it was always the
pack warn pins and needles until the very last, until
like the eve of training camp.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
Oh I'm not sure if I'm a player or not.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
And then that's when they finally pulled the plug and said,
you know what, we got Aaron Rodgers. We're gonna go
with him, and that's gonna be the end of it.
We don't care if you make a decision. We're making
a decision because they were hell.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
Playing right now.

Speaker 7 (14:20):
No, but you get what I'm saying, Like you thinking
as like I'm playing, I want back in who wants
your boy?

Speaker 5 (14:26):
I'm ready, I'm in shape. Yeah, but we still don't know.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
Yeah, but I'm just saying And even at the end
of the seasons, Rob He's like, you know, I don't
know what I'm gonna do.

Speaker 7 (14:35):
I'm just literally while they're still playing in weeks but
i'd be graad or no.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
I feel I just gotta go away and I gotta
see and I just still know. And it was three
years running with Brett Fark it's been three years. Had
How's it been three years he's been on the Jets too. Ye, Yeah,
we didn't know if he was coming back at the injury.
Then he's like, I'm coming back. Then were this year
during the season, doubt about this season came back during
the season he not the play. You remember he came back,
he was working out throwing football every offseason.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
He literally goes and I just I.

Speaker 6 (15:04):
Mean, I don't remember that year he said he was
coming back, and I don't know, like literally right now,
I don't know if he's coming back.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
And it's just and even more so than the am
I coming back?

Speaker 7 (15:16):
And it's just the in our eyes and it's not
about football, becomes about so much, so many other things,
and that just wears on people.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
I don't know that.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
I think it's a combination because he's he's one of
these guys where people it's it's an easy topic because
he's what he says stuff that's a little off beat.
So people just no matter what he said, it doesn't matter.
He's turned into that where no matter what he says,
it's always something you know, like they're bringing up.

Speaker 5 (15:43):
They're not talking about whether or not.

Speaker 6 (15:45):
Uh, he could cut down on his inner The conversation is,
don't go on, Pat McAfee, that's not football related, that's
not something right, that's not something control like that.

Speaker 5 (15:54):
You can because great question.

Speaker 7 (15:57):
Tom Brady, for as much as it was boring, never
really went on the show saying this. He was just
kind of straight down the middle because he was about football,
about this team was trying to win. And I'm not
mad at Aaron Rodgers doing this because this is his right. Well,
what comes with it is to criticians Lebron Lebron doesn't
shy away for any topic, politics, music. That's why he's

(16:20):
in a beating Drake because he's at show. That's why
he has people who mad because he talks about Black
Lives matter.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
That's why he's mad. Because he jumps in on every topic.
And that's his right, and I don't mind it.

Speaker 7 (16:29):
You can have the right, but what comes with that
is people are gonna jump in and criticize you. So
Aaron Rodgers doesn't have to do Pat McAfee every week.
He doesn't have much shared opinions about vaccine, doesn't Kyrie
ivers same things, very vocal sharing his opinions.

Speaker 6 (16:42):
That's what happens when you have you're open about things.
I think that if you win, you can do whatever
you want. It's really because the team didn't perform well
and he didn't perform well, so it's an easy target.
There would be none of this if the Jets went
to the playoffs and they won eleven to twelve game.
Would you admit that Pat McAfee would not be a
topic of conversation.

Speaker 5 (17:04):
It wouldn't be.

Speaker 6 (17:05):
That wouldn't be the reason that Jets just saying well,
you're gonna come back next year. No, Patman is because
you lose. When you lose, everything is up for debate
and up for question. We talk about all the time.
He didn't come to training camp, so they didn't win, right,
So you could use that had he come to training camp,
had he not done Pat McAfee, and had they won
ten or eleven game, that's not on the table. They've

(17:27):
soured on him because he doesn't win, And so you
can look at all the other quirky off the court field,
off the field stuff and use that as.

Speaker 7 (17:36):
The reason that with that. But he's a starting quarterback
who is a Hall of famer. That is going to
be an inevitability if he For instance, Kirk your cousin,
not mine. We haven't talked about it because you win.
The last time you've seen Kirk Cousins, you ain't seeing.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
I don't know if he's at home, I don't know
if he's working out, I don't know what he's doing.
But he doesn't say anything.

Speaker 6 (17:54):
But that's my point. Kar Kirk Cousins never won a
Super Bowl. Kirk Cousin and wasn't All Pro quarterback. He
hasn't won him win four MVPs. He's on a different
You can't put this again.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
Watch this.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
Patrick Mahomes again has one three. What's the off season comes?
You really don't hear from Patrick Mahomes. Yeah, but I'm
just talking. But I'm saying Patrick Mahoonmes has more Super
Bowls then than Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 5 (18:18):
But that's not what I'm saying. You would equating him
to Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 7 (18:22):
I'm only using an example of you don't have to
say anything. We talk about this all the time.

Speaker 5 (18:26):
Michael Parson wants to hear from Kirk Cousins, what does
he want? I moved on to Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 7 (18:30):
My point is Aaron Rodgers continues to put himself in
these situations Eddie doing documentaries while he's still playing, and
again that is his right, that's just right. But what
comes with it is more criticism.

Speaker 2 (18:41):

Speaker 5 (18:54):
We got the trade deadline that happened last week.

Speaker 7 (18:56):
We got some first of all the biggest trading leads
in my lifetime and Luca and Anthony Davis. But another
one you got that happened was Jimmy Butler heading up
to the Bay. They've already played a couple of games
now with the Warriors to and oh they've been happy
about it. A conversation was had with Draymond Green. Was
it on his podcast? It was on the Draymond Green podcast. Uh,

(19:16):
here's what he had to say about them acquiring Jimmy
Butler and what Steph Curry told him. We got Jimmy Butler, Like,
this is not what's small, dude, It's Jimmy Butler.

Speaker 5 (19:25):
Steph.

Speaker 7 (19:26):
After the trade, he looked at me and he said, man,
it's crazy because it just dawned on me.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
They're like, this is it, Like this is this is
the last run? That's roight like, and I said, let's
do it. Let's right to the hills, fall up. Yeah,
let's come out. It was an emotional moment. So they
call it the last drive, last ride already.

Speaker 7 (19:48):
Uh. Once, let me first start by saying This is
another example of when we talk about, man, can something
stay between us? Can anything stay between me and you?
You know what I mean? Steph Curry talking to Draymond like,
hey man, it's our last ry. Let's do what we
gotta do. Let's give it at all, Like, I didn't
mean for that to be public. That was between me

(20:09):
and you. But again, Draymond has a podcast. He got
a podcast and says he's got you know, folks to
get to listen to the show. But I just felt like, dang,
I was between he and Steph. But he just said it.
So now it's out there, so let's talk about it.
They acquired Jimmy Butler. They look good right now, they say.
Jimmy said, look, I've never been a guy to shoot
a bunch of threes. Steph obviously, as we know, shoots
a bunch of threes. I'm more of a defensive guy.

(20:31):
Steph not necessarily known for that. They like that they're
the opposites on each end, and they're calling this the
last ride. And I think it makes sense, rob because
remember Steph Curry said he didn't want this organization to
fall flat and give up any and everything for the
sake of him, to sell the whole team for the
sake of him, and then once he's done and you know, two, three,

(20:51):
four years, whatever it may be, be screwed for a decade.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
And never be the same.

Speaker 7 (20:56):
So this last ride actually reminds me of kind of
what we're witnessing as well. Who knows what's gonna happen.
But the Lakers go out and get Luca is for
the future. But Lebron, I'm sure, looks at it and says, man,
this is for the now, me and Luca for a
year or two. This is the last ride.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
Now.

Speaker 7 (21:11):
While I don't believe the Warriors have enough, I don't
think Jimmy Butler moved the needle enough for them to
do anything to actually be real contenders in the Western
Conference and have a chance.

Speaker 5 (21:22):
With the rest of the team or no Warriors, no
what I gave you Andrew Wiggins.

Speaker 7 (21:27):
They gave up a slow mo as they call them,
and some picks as well. But I do enjoy the
idea of seeing a possible last ride for Steph, you know,
for a year or two, last ride for Lebron, and
if they're competitive, I think that's great for the league.
If your main star players are actually competitive, not just
in the NBA, as we mentioned earlier a couple hours ago,

(21:47):
not just Kevin Durant on a Sun's team that ain't
really doing nothing.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
But if you have a very.

Speaker 7 (21:51):
Competitive Warriors team, a very competitive Lakers team with Lebron
and Luca, with Steph and Jimmy and Draymond, and they're
making noise and for the last year this season, maybe
next year, I think that'll be good for the league
as you begin to slowly start ushering in the new
teams that potentially in the new Stars can take this
league and hopefully, as the Adam Silver would hope, and

(22:13):
even us fans of the game to the next level.
So if this is that Fast Infurious last ride like
we watch with the Fast and Furious even though they're
on like the sixteenth movie, I hope it ends up
being a fun one where we get to see the
last little bit of stuff and it's fun and it's
before he's broken down and old, and the same thing
with Lebron, before he's broken down and old. I want
to see another year and a half or so where

(22:35):
this can be entertaining. And then they says hand of
paton over to the win Beast, the Anthony Edwards, the
John Morantz, the LaMelo balls and things of that nature.

Speaker 5 (22:43):
They don't have enough to win it, But I hope.

Speaker 6 (22:45):
I think it's a desperation move and I think it's silly,
And I get it. You want to feel like you're
not wasting staffs. She gave up Wiggins, who's younger. Jimmy
Butler's been banged up. He can play. I'm not saying
the guy can't play. You're giving up picks, You're giving
up Wiggins, Like, like, that's not the future. Do you
really think, you know, a beat up Draymond and Steph

(23:08):
who's not even playing that well himself, it's really gonna
it's gonna like come somehow win the championship or get
to the final.

Speaker 5 (23:16):
I don't see. I think they took. I just don't know.
We tried.

Speaker 6 (23:21):
You don't want to be in bad They were got.
They lost a home this year by forty points for
forty points for zero. So I just I like, I'm
not saying you throw the toweling, but I'm not giving
up picks and I'm not giving up younger players. I
just don't understand that. If you don't there's a lot
of teams in the West. I'm just don't.

Speaker 5 (23:40):
I don't look at the Warriors as one of them.
They're looking at it as.

Speaker 7 (23:45):
The ownership group is saying, you know how much I'm
spending on you guys.

Speaker 5 (23:49):
You know how much I spent over the last seven
eight years. Put it off more bad money, good money after.

Speaker 7 (23:54):
Bad money, And that's what they're They're saying, Hey, I
need for me, Joe Lakup.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
It's rings. So we didn't want to pay Clay but.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
No.

Speaker 6 (24:07):
But my point is, you want to spend money there,
but now you're gonna go and give a thirty five
year old who's been banged up, who's been I'm just.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
Saying, I get what you're saying it, but it's a
way better player.

Speaker 6 (24:17):
But what I'm trying to say they still they're acting
like they didn't have money for that situation. And I'm
not saying they had to break the bank. But then
you go give it to a money to a player,
a who held a team hostage, right, and b.

Speaker 5 (24:32):
Is heard a lot and is aging. I just I don't.

Speaker 7 (24:35):
I don't see the other issue though, what Clay was
it wasn't just simply the money. It was that he
actually thought he was better than he was and had
been for the last three years and starting to get this. No,
I agree with that he had the equity without of
that compared to Jimmy Butler equity.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
We didn't win anything like you could say, oh you
got the he to I get it to the finals twice,
but but he didn't win anything. I think if you win,
it gives you a little more cash at.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
I think the issue with Clay was where they needed
him to be. He didn't.

Speaker 7 (25:04):
He didn't want to come off the bitch. He did it,
but begrudgingly. He didn't really like it. He didn't want
to give away for you, and he talked about it.
I didn't handle the situation right. I wasn't the most
humble and best team player towards the end.

Speaker 5 (25:16):
He wasn't. He just got he was. He was not
that he just lost his way as a player.

Speaker 7 (25:21):
He was losing his way as a person to Clay
because he just wasn't handling all those injuries right.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
He wasn't handling the new role right. It was just
difficult for him. I act.

Speaker 7 (25:28):
Remember, he was mad, acting like he was a top
seventy five player. Clay, you had a heck of a career.
Bro going to the Hall of Fame, you're not a
top seventy five player. But he was really upset about that.
So I don't know, Clay the last few years was
really not understanding where he was. But I think the
Jimmy Butler move again, I don't think it's all of
a sudden put them as top three four contenders in
the West.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
Not in my opinion.

Speaker 7 (25:47):
I still got ok See, I still got Denver, I
still have the Lakers up there. Memphis obviously would be
sitting right there as well. But for me, if Daget
we get a crazy out of the blue run with Steph,
we get a crazy out of the run with Lebron, and.

Speaker 6 (26:02):
Everybody says that that's what I mean that, Like that
is like what people I'm.

Speaker 7 (26:06):
Talking about desire, what I would love to see, Like
I would love to see a last little one run
Lebron and Steph going at it before.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
We move on to this scene. I would love to see.

Speaker 6 (26:15):
Steph Clay and those guys can't even get in the playing,
you know what I mean? Like I'm dead serious, Like
Steph's had a chance a couple of times to advance
in the playing and they lost once while I was
at home.

Speaker 5 (26:27):
I just I just went to Ring a couple of years. Okay,
but that was you think they went.

Speaker 6 (26:33):
I thought the team that lost by forty at home
this year is what I'm saying.

Speaker 7 (26:37):
No, they got the same two. And then if you
want to include the coach saying Cora what I'm just saying.
But that's how bad you seen it rough, That's why
they were so desperate and they're out here they were
putting it is a team that wanted so desperate. They
were out there trying to spend the block with Kevin Durant,
and we know how bad that went.

Speaker 5 (26:54):
And it was public. Even Kevin Durant was I'm not
going back there.

Speaker 7 (26:59):
You this wasn't a leak thing. This wasn't a we
wasn't supposed to know thing. This was out there that
they're like, hey man, come on back. I know with
Draymond Cusser, b I know you felt like you were
getting you know, second fiddle. I know Bob Myers when
he was here was talking about you ain't steph and
you ain't homegrown like that, and I know all of that,
but come on back.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
That's how that's what they were for sure.

Speaker 7 (27:21):
But they're in their mind they want a return on investment,
all this luxury tax they're paying for all these years,
and the only way we get that is by winning rings.
And that's why they're just throwing things out there, training
and Jimmy Butler being there, they try to get KD said, no, I'm.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
Straight winning championship. Where are they go?

Speaker 6 (27:35):
Oh no, no, they're not winning no champions going to the
Western Conference finals.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
No, all right, I want the same. Obviously we don't.
We gotta see.

Speaker 7 (27:41):
I play like the tournament, the route, but the Lakers
could get there, and okay, see I like that
