(01:39):
the show.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
Some more NBA conversations to Rob that's involving Steph Curry.
In a recent interview, Rob g if you want to
break it down some of the interesting thoughts or comments
coming from Steph Curry kind of talking about the end
of the road.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
That's right.
Speaker 6 (01:57):
So Steph Curry is basically being seen as the the
uh what is it like, the pied piper of All
Star Weekend. It's in his city, it's on his foam floor.
There's been a lot of features done on him and
about him here in the last seventy two hours. So
one that we're talking about here in this instance longtime
NBA NFLM'LLB writer Tim Kawakami.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
God, I'm an exclusive.
Speaker 6 (02:21):
That's my buddy, Tim Kawa Kahm with the San Francisco Standard.
Never heard of that one, but I'm sure it's a
great paper. And in the interview, Kawa Kami asked Steph, like, Hey,
what how do you envision the last few years of
your NBA career going. And here's what he said in
part competitive. I've seen different scenarios, Like everyone talks about
(02:42):
Kobe his last few years. From my vantage point, I'm
comparing it to guys that only played for one franchise, Dirk,
Tim Duncan Kobe from our era. You don't want to
be in a situation Lakers in the last three years
with Kobe. I know he came off the Achilles injury,
but it was like they were a lottery team and
it was more just about how many points in Kobe
score down the stretch of his career. I don't want
(03:03):
to be in that scenario. I'm sure that's what our
fans want to see me, playing meaningful games no matter
how it ends.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Kel Well, I'll say this for somebody who you know,
usually is kind of parcels out his words sparingly, doesn't
necessarily you know, doesn't take any and every opportunity to
talk about things. That was an interesting statement, specifically the
Kobe won for me, just because obviously he's no longer
(03:32):
with us.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
It was bad, though, but it was surprised that he
did bring up. Yeah, it's very bad, say it was
no it was bad Kobe's they didn't make the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Rob G did they last five years?
Speaker 2 (03:44):
No, they were bad.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
I remember they had the number two pick, number two pick,
number two pick. It was a rough go. But I
am I'm just more or less anything. I'm just shocked
that he actually the way in which he said that,
because of how beloved Kobe it was, and just the
legendary career.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
I get what he's saying.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
He is saying, Steph Curry is saying that I want
to still be playing for something.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
I don't want to just be out here.
Speaker 5 (04:04):
Just to be out here, especially when he has known
nothing but winning for a maybe seventy five percent of
his career at least being in the the you know,
have a chance to compete for a championship. You become
accustomed to that, so I can understand and appreciate.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
See, That's why I disagree with all of the say
that that that they have to be You got to
like mortgage the future, destroy your team so that they
can be, you know, playing on a team that you
know hypothetically or you know it has a chance to
win or whatever. And I'm not saying he should be
(04:40):
on a terrible team or maybe that's what that's your
queue to retire or something. But it shouldn't. It's not
a birthright. A lot of great players play where teams
were bad at the end, like a lot.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
But right, you know what I mean. I mean, but no,
I totally that happened. I mean that probably happens.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Far more greater.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Five percent on that side of it. Yeah, because you
were a large portion of what made you had version
you know about the Bad Boys, right after the Bad Boys,
I mean it tanks, tanks, after the Larry Bird, Robert Parrish,
Kevin McHale. They went nineteen years, they went nineteen years
(05:24):
without winning a championship, and they were bad, like.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
The only thing. Though, No, I don't so.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
I think what you're saying is very much what has
happened most of the time. I think there are a
few rare occasions. I'll give you an example in Tim Duncan.
One team competitive from literally beginning of his career to
the literal end.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
They won a ring in twenty fourteen.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
I believe it was so uh Tim Duncan being a
rare occasion where hey, I was competitive. You can even say,
kareem competing for championships to the end, So Kareem, he
wasn't one team though, so you kind of almost be
di missed, dismissed for this, with Tim Duncan being that example.
But I saw when you get used to winning, I
can see him saying, what's the point of playing and
we just win twenty games? What's the point of playing
(06:03):
we win fifteen games. I'm not used to that. There's
no point. I want to be competing. I'm not saying
I have to win it, but being in the mix,
which is why I think he is excited, Draymond excited
and Jimmy Butler for this trade so they can say
at least we're competitive right now. You know what, three
out of four believe with Jimmy and they feel like, okay,
we got something here that we can at least try
(06:25):
the second half of the season to compete. So I
understand when he says that, but I will say it
is interesting Steph. I do think still gets held to
slightly different standard than the peers that people put him
in the ranks with, and like, if his team isn't bad.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
It's kind of all the team. It's less about him.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
If his team isn't performing greatly, they don't make the postseason.
A couple of years back when he was still in
his prime, it's, oh, Kevin Durant left. It's oh, you know,
they don't have a good this when nobody's saying he
has to win a championship every year. But where people
place him in that Kobe Lebron you.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Know, shocked him Duncan Air.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
It's kind of like, no, I'm gonna need you to
sometimes single handedly keep your team in the mix, sometimes
make these teams more competitive because you still had some
talent on those Warriors teams. And he kind of gets
escapego even in the finals where he doesn't play well
and nobody really talks about it.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
He doesn't really show up at times and people kind
of give him a talk.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
About it all the time.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
The big shots to turnover, yeah, and they're a moments
deal with stuff.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Hasn't played well.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
And he has kind of gotten a pass for again
for where people place him. If they were saying it
was top twenty, then okay, great, But people already have
him Rob top ten. Some people already tell he's top
five after.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
This, which is absolutely ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
And I'm like, hold on, now, hold on, because I
told Rob g Earlier we talked about that. I said,
when y'all start saying top ten, this goes for rappers too,
or greatest rock bands whatever. You gotta start naming them.
And if you're putting them in the top five, then okay,
you so who's out? Kobe's out, Lebron's out, reams out,
Jordan's out. Magics are like, who's out? You can't just oh,
(08:04):
he's top five, now he's top ten?
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Okay? Then is we already named the five? Is Larry
Bird out his shack?
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Out?
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Its Tim Duncan out? Is you know what I mean?
He just starts.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
Hold on now when you start just throwing guys in
the top ten. But my point is Steph has gotten
a different and there's like a different expectation or he
kind of gets escapegoat more than I think guys at
his caliber or where people want to rank him do historically, Kobe,
the Lebron's, the shacks, they kind of kind of gets
a bail out more. And what's being expected of him
(08:34):
and his greatness and his team's performance that I've ever
seen for where people rank him like it's just the
words aren't good, that's it.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Well, they don't expect small guys, right guards to lead teams.
That's what makes Isaiah Like when people discount what Isaiah
was able to do, you know, without another top fifty player.
He went through Bird, he went through Georgic and Magic
all in their primes.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Like I'd like, I just I find that to be.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Shocking on how little people figure that out or you know,
I and Steph doesn't get that at all.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
He really doesn't.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
And that's what's what's been weird to me because where
people rank him, it's like, like the Warriors are bad,
He's still he's only I mean, he's a very healthy
thirty six, Like he's still you know, he's not beat
down and broken down. And it's like, oh the Warriors,
like they're just they're terrible, and it's it's like, okay,
not saying they should be at number one seed, but
I'm just saying where people would place other people of
(09:34):
his greatness to you know, he does get tendency to
kind of get the team versus him, whereas Lebron or
Kobe or you know, Prime Shack or Prime other people.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Give you a perfect example, the three to one choke
job to the Cavaliers.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
If that was Lebron or somebody.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Else starting sports center every day.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Stould be it would be.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
It would be the end of it because no team
has ever choked down a three to one lead in
the NBA Finals.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Right, That's that Steph was That was Steph KD. Wasn't there?
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Remember they go, well Dreymond mister game game five? But
wait a minute, there was still two more games, including
he lost game seven at home. And all year they
hadn't won, hadn't lost more than two games in a row,
and they lost three in a row to lose the finals, Like, like,
how was that not? How did that not leave a mark?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (10:31):
And it does, like people will bring it up, but
it's not like blasphemy and it's not like crazy talk.
Whereas you like Lebron would literally like might as well retire.
It's like just walk away, because that would never happen.
If Kobe did that, just walk away, don't ever bring
him up again, you know, and some of the some
of the other greats.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
If Magic Johnson did that, I just so.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
But with that being said, I give him one thing
I'd give him credit for for me was his last
finals run that he had when they beat Boston A
couple two three years ago, because I always wanted to
see could he absolutely unequivocally lead a team where it
was him when it was now you need a team
to win all out of Magic Bird, Kobe.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Everybody had team and great teammates around them.
Speaker 5 (11:12):
But I'm saying, we still know who the best player was,
and it's not a question or you weren't you know,
could you be the best player on the court in
an entire final series? Because even when they won in
twenty fifteen, the best player was still Lebron. When they
won in twenty sixteen, clearly was Lebron because the Cavs
won that year, and then the seventeen and eighteen well
that was Kevin Durant. So at one point I wanted
(11:33):
to see could Steph be the absolute best player in
a finals no matter the team, his own team or
the opposing team. And I finally got to see that,
you know, a couple of years back when they beat
the Celtics. So I was I was happy to see
that because for me that I wanted to that was
kind of that one.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
But did race the other one? For me?
Speaker 5 (11:52):
Oh no, no, no, no, I didn't say it, great brother,
we ain't got no, Razer.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
This is a big pin, especially the one that's just
you can't let go.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Is that it's never happened in the history of the league.
You know what I mean? Like that?
Speaker 1 (12:04):
That is an unbelievable Staying on Steph Curry's resume, all right,
why isn't Steph held to the same standards as some
of the other all time greats? Eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. Well, can continue that conversation next with you.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
I can still remember one romantic Valentine's Day where she
was my high school girlfriend and then we were in
our twenties. But she baked a meat loaf the shape
of a heart with tomato sauce on top.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
I thought that was cute. I thought that was really nice.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Ah was it good?
Speaker 4 (13:56):
It was good too. We had talking about the me.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
That's Kwhy eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox we're
talking about Steph Curry and why doesn't he get to
save smoke right as some other big stars in the NBA. Uh,
Jeremy in Nashville, you're in the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
What's up, Jeremy, Guys.
Speaker 7 (14:24):
I've always been a critic of stuff because of the
inability to play defense. But one thing I'd like to
bring up is what he did in the Olympics. That
took like another level of respect for me for him
because to come through and make those shots like he
did on the biggest stage, to bring on the gold,
that significantly, you know, showed the like amount of respect
that he is due for the game that he's capable
(14:44):
of playing stuff on.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
He bought. He bought in those Olympics. He bought out
without a doubt. He was he was.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Jim Jeremy, you're still there, Jerremany's he there or he's gone.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
Okay, let's go to MJ. Who we got to meet
it New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
MJ.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
You're on the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's
up but.
Speaker 8 (15:06):
Flash back Friday?
Speaker 1 (15:08):
No doubt. Great to meet you in New Orleans. Man, Yeah, man,
thanks for coming out.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
Bro.
Speaker 8 (15:13):
Hey man, you guys are the best.
Speaker 7 (15:15):
Man.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
Wow, appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Appreciate you, MJ. No doubt.
Speaker 8 (15:20):
Check this well. Bardell Stephen Curry. He grew up on
the NBA sidelines before our eyes, right. Yeah, So he's
a he loved David like figure from Davidson to laying
the NBA golias. So he's not just to critique like
he's you know, in the good conversation. So I mean
(15:40):
that's just what it is, that that's how he's us.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
Yeah, but there are people say he's top five, and
I mean, you can't be top five and then when
you lose or something goes wrong or Kevin Durant comes
and takes your team like your lunch money, it's okay,
and you're still top five.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
That's why I have an.
Speaker 8 (15:59):
Issue, you know, sports debate talk shows, that's just fire
man that that's not really he's not time five.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
No doubt.
Speaker 5 (16:10):
I've heard people I know I mentioned, especially when he
won this last one. Thank you and Jay, it was
good seeing you down in New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
To who else? We got?
Speaker 1 (16:16):
No dre in Michigan. You're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, drap dre hold on?
Speaker 5 (16:25):
There?
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Are you?
Speaker 2 (16:25):
There?
Speaker 4 (16:27):
Is the phones of phones not working? Let's try Andrew?
Speaker 2 (16:31):
All right?
Speaker 4 (16:32):
All right, Oh there it is dra Are you there?
Speaker 9 (16:37):
Yeah, I'm here. What's going on? Fellas?
Speaker 4 (16:38):
Okay, it's working on myself?
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Man?
Speaker 2 (16:40):
How you doing?
Speaker 4 (16:40):
I actually put a phone call on the ad? Can
you believe it?
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Look at that and they say, there's not the first
time for everything.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
Making this chatter today.
Speaker 9 (16:50):
Hey, before I get to my point, Rob, you appreciate
this reference.
Speaker 6 (16:53):
Man.
Speaker 9 (16:53):
You know you jumped jumped the shark yesterday. The shark
man you put on last week with Day, but this
week you officially jumped the shark. I just want you
to know that not happy days over here?
Speaker 4 (17:04):
Brothers, what why not? You were mad?
Speaker 9 (17:08):
No, it was just that it was like, come on, man,
how you gonna put that old kayln cart He ruined
all start waking.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
All I got is like God was went viral today?
Is that true?
Speaker 10 (17:18):
I'm imagined that.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Boy.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
Stop you woke up with some tea looking at it,
don't play with Rob woke up like, oh let me.
Speaker 6 (17:26):
Let's be honest. That wasn't even Rob's hotes take this week.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
I think.
Speaker 10 (17:31):
I agree with you.
Speaker 9 (17:32):
But man, I don't know what's going on Rob.
Speaker 10 (17:33):
But he has become the poker.
Speaker 9 (17:35):
He's been an habitual live step for lately. I don't
know what's going on with him.
Speaker 6 (17:38):
Man.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Maybe it was the pancake I had down in New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (17:43):
I wouldn't gonna even bring that up.
Speaker 9 (17:45):
I let that slash Dre.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
I had to witness it. Dre.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
What listen.
Speaker 9 (17:54):
In this day of society, we don't judge.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Oh wow, just becoming we out a pancake. My god,
live you.
Speaker 9 (18:00):
Live your life you want to.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
I'm with you, regardless what you got on staff.
Speaker 9 (18:06):
When it comes to Steff, I think the reason why
he doesn't get the smoke like everybody else is because
of expectations when he came out. If you just said
Steph Curry was going to be the fourth time when
four time champion and changed the face of the change
the way the league is operated, most people be like, yeah, right,
so Steph really been operating on gravy, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
But that's just that.
Speaker 9 (18:24):
But also think too with as people get older, realistically,
you don't expect that anybody over thirty five and just
keep continue leading their teams, you know, all in the
same way they did in the twenties. That's not even possible.
I mean, I know it ain't the saying, Rob, but
you probably can't even write like that. You just write
your twenties, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Now, I'm a better writer actually.
Speaker 9 (18:45):
But it's just I think, you know, it's just that
un Plus, he's a real humble guy. He's not bragged
dogs like lebron Kobe in the world. So I think
that's his personality allows him to get away with a
lot more.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
I think. I agree.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
I do think him being kind of the silent baby assassin,
chill old guy makes him hard to not like. Like
you can't not like him. I think it is what
a lot of people you know, he's not. He's very
hard to dislike. I appreciate the call, Rob, you see
all you want.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
He ain't want to think about you eating the pancakes.
I know.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
I'm sorry it's gonna be And Elijah put it up
on social so.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Oh yeah, I can't wait.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
I haven't reposted, cake, I can't no, no, not that
just our conversation about it. Yeah, well listen, listen, Alex.
It happened so fast we couldn't It wasn't like we
could film it. It was just like it was just
like you and your okay, Alex, you and your girl.
It was so quick, like it was just natural what
they do. Hey babe, is that I mean? Oops, my bad,
Hey Rob, it's not a pancake. And then robb Gy,
(19:42):
you know it is boom and it just cuts a
little supper that dime loge and bad bad you know
as a week ago I forgot you.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Know, you're just you're just embellishing this story.
Speaker 5 (19:53):
And then the best part I'm telling you, Alex was
Rob g feeding in without looking just Boom, didn't even look.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Stay looking at his plate, right, just Alex Boom.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Here you squeeze and one more call you for sure,
ladies in life, My god. All right, Andrew in Bakersfield, California,
you're on the on couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
What's up, Andrew?
Speaker 11 (20:13):
What's up? Guys? Yea, with All Star Weekend coming up,
I've been thinking about Sputweb and that poster of him
just flying through the air dunking the ball. Yeah, but uh, steph.
I think what made him special was he came from Davidson,
a little undersize, had good handles, great shot to chuck
(20:35):
it up from thirty feet and uh so that's why
I think Shack said he like changed the game. And
uh I just think a lot of kids look up
to him, and I think he should keep it going.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
All right, all right, you sure the call?
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Yeahm ba ya, because Andrew's all.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
Definitely gave small shorter people hope, Rob, that's one thing
that nobody could be six eight six two sixty running
like Lebron. That's like a once in a lifetime thing.
So he didn't give hope to anybody, you know, six
foot five ten six ' one. You know, let me
just fire that thing up and hope it comes in.
And I got hope to be in the league. He
(21:15):
gave him hope a little bit.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
He did a lot of little people.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
Yes, all right, all right, so we got Andy Reid. Rob,
you said something earlier. I want to see if maybe
a little change of heartles all of a.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Sudden, nuh, here people talking about some of the stuff
that I talked about.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
You went to Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 5 (21:46):
Yes, sir, we're coming to you live from the tire
Rack dot Com Studios, The Eye Couple, Rob Parker, Kelvin
Washington and Double bring in Rob.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Rob Jeter's an offensive coach for the Chiefs who had an.
Speaker 5 (21:58):
Interesting thing to say publicly about trying to coach one
Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 6 (22:04):
Yeah, and he's not even having the excuse of these
players on a podcast where you know they're just saying things.
This guy had a chance to talk to a reporter
before the Super Bowl and for whatever reason said, now
go ahead, this is on the record. I'm gonna let
you print this. He said, this is all right, okay.
Chiefs passing game coordinator Joe Blameyer spoke.
Speaker 12 (22:23):
To ESPN's to blame blame he's a blaze. Spoke to
ESPN before the Super Bowl. So this is before the
things went haywire and discussed you know what it's like
coaching Patrick Mahomes, with many believe could go down a
great quarterback of all time. Blae Meyer said this on
the record, mind you, it makes it so much more stressful.
(22:48):
You feel the burden as a coach and as you're
putting a game plan together to not waste his abilities
to not go through a season where you don't give
him the opportunity to not screw it up as the
coaching staff. So rather than like this unbridled excitement that
we could do anything, it's actually more like a terror,
like we cannot be the reason that we screwed this
guy up, or this team up. Are we utilizing him
(23:10):
the best? Are we giving him the stuff that he needs.
Speaker 6 (23:12):
It's just constantly second guessing ourselves just so that he
has everything he needs to go out and be himself.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
I can't believe he said that publicly, Rod Parker.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
I can't either. I mean I don't especially the last
two years. Correct me if I'm wrong, Rob g they're
fifteenth in offense, like they're middle of the pack. You
have this dynamic quarterback right fifteenth, and you're afraid to
do stuff to help him, you know. And even that
(23:46):
interception to pick six all wrong, like thrown across the
field across your body like that. That's like the oldest
thing in the book. And there were other stuff that
maybe they could do stuff to correct. I understand, no
one's gonna be perfect or you know, but everybody can
use coaching, right, You can't be afraid everybody can use coaching.
(24:07):
I don't know anybody who's that good where you can't
say anything to them.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
I don't get that.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
Yeah, I mean, I think some things are okay to
stay in the house, you know, and some things are
okay to keep in house as we figure this thing out.
And you mentioned I'm looking at the last four or
maybe five six years for the Chiefs, and I mean
they were if you go back rob to let's just
say twenty twenty.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Well, if you go back to twenty twenty.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
They were sixth in offense, first in yards, right, then
you keep going. They were fourth the next year and
points for you know, points and offensive rankings. You just
keep going there first in points and yards the next
year in twenty twenty two, and.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Then the last two years where the struggles begin.
Speaker 5 (24:54):
They're twenty twenty three, there are fifteenth in points, twenty
twenty four fifteenth in points and sixteenth in yards. So
there has been two years of something's off, something isn't right.
Speaker 4 (25:05):
What is the issues in hyperbole by us? You know
what I mean?
Speaker 5 (25:08):
No, this isn't Oh, we're just over exaggerate, exaggerating even
making a big deal out of.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
That big jump.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
Because twenty twenty two you were first in points a game,
first and yards. Then you jumped to fifteenth and ninth,
then fifteenth and sixteenth.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
In points per game in yards. So what is going
on here?
Speaker 4 (25:27):
So I got the solution, Go ahead, we'll hit me
with it.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
So this is where if Andy Weid Okay, it's gonna continue.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
He's got to make changes with the coaching staff.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
And I'm talking about the on the offensive side of
the ball because they have really struggled and and it
could be a coincidence, it could be uh, you know,
have nothing to do with it.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
But since Eric b enemy left, they haven't been the same.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Like we we all right, Andy Weied's an offensive genius,
but Eric me was the offensive coordinator. They're something too right,
like like, seriously, it hasn't been the same. And yes
there's been some players missing and all that, but along
with that, Patrick hasn't played as well. And Eric binem
Me was the was the bad cop. Andy's a nice guy,
(26:19):
you know, the jovial one holding.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
The Denny's menu.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Eric remember when he went to San Francisco and the
players were complaining he was too tough, Like he's that guy.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
I don't know. I'm dead serious. They need to make
a change. And who is it.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Matt Nagy's the offensive coordinator now you know about him. Yeah,
there's there's a change. And that's where if Andy's not
gonna make a change, there you got you gotta say, dude,
one or the other. Even other coaches you know, they
either have to let go their coaches or make some changes.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
We saw it in Philadelphia, and guess what they do.
They wanted to just won a super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
You beat me to it.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
I was gonna say, I mean, and this is a
team that could say, you know, the year before it
went downhill, they were eleven and six. But you know,
on paper you could say, hey, we were eleven and six.
Change but they weren't the same and they needed to
make a change, and they did that.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
And even credit here's another credit.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
Kellen Moore came into this season and art Nick Sirianni
talk about it saying like, all right, this is what
we're gonna do that. Wait, we just got say Kwon Barkley. Okay,
we got a revamp and the Jalen Hurts bought into. Look, man,
it ain't gonna look pretty as far as we light
it up and run it all, you know, as far
as offensively with the big pass plays and all that.
But we have the ability to run this game how
(27:31):
we want to run it, and dictate the game how
we want to do it. And Kellen Moore adjusted point
being at this point, the Chiefs are gonna have to
find a way to get some offense. And yes, they
were fifteen to two, and I credit them for finding
a way and inching.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Their way back to a super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (27:46):
But if you want to be who you think you are,
as far as dynastic, then you have to be able
to pivot.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Right.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
You pivoted, you found a good defense to good to great.
Your defense has held you down for the last couple
of years. Now you want to find a way. Okay,
how can we be complimentary? Shoo that defense? And it
has to be one of the things. Rob, you gotta
get some weapons to Patrick Macones. No longer fair to
just be like, oh, he'll figure it out, Oh he'll
do this, Oh he'll make a play.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Can you get him some weapons.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
It would be nice to get a power goodsaw, you know,
it'd be nice to get it obj for Matthew Stafford,
you know Von Miller for Matthew Stafford. Go get some
players offensive defensively. But that can make a difference. So
you don't have to just say, Patrick, make some magic happen.
And I think they have to go get some weapons
so that he can say, all right, it ain't gotta
(28:33):
be Tyreek Hill level.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
But there's some people out there that ship sail right.
Speaker 5 (28:37):
Yeah, but that you can say, I can take the
roof off this team a little bit and show you
guys what I was doing back in twenty twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
And the other thing is, you got you have to
there's gotta be a run game, like you have to
run the football. You can't make Patrick Mahomes one dimensional.
Where this was Andy reached downfall in Philadelphia. He did
he wouldn't run the ball. I mean, ay, you talked
to any Philadelphia Eagles fan and they'll tell you that
(29:07):
he won't run the ball.
Speaker 5 (29:08):
Yep, he would be man it quickly. But Checko being
out obviously that hurt them. You know, that's one of
those things. I mean, you know, you're looking at last
season leading rusher nine hundred and thirty five yards, season
before that, lead rusher eight hundred and thirty. And yes
he's not Sakwan Barkley, and yes he's not Derrick Henry,
but you know a guy alo was getting a thousand
mixed in with a couple other backs. All right, now
we're cooking. We got something going here, and they did
(29:30):
not have the this year. They're leading rusher was Kareem Hunt,
who came back who was you know, he spun the
block and came back with seven hundred and twenty eight.
So you you you need to get the rush game going,
run game going, and then again you need to find
some better offense for Patrick. So you're not just saying
it's all on you to make his magic happen.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Right, and Rob g you heard Mark Mark Slayer today, Right,
this was yesterday, and listen to this.
Speaker 6 (29:52):
It's like he took your Andy Reid retirement quote and
he's like, I'm gonna say the same thing, but a
little different for a nicer way. That's not as you know, strong.
But he said that watching the Super Bowl, he was
very unimpressed by any Reid That wasn't a lot of
people with football people said that. And one thing that
he pointed out was that Philadelphia was gonna play a
(30:14):
two high shell the whole game. They're gonna play zone,
no man covery. They only had one snap of man
the entire time, So they're gonna make you play quarterback
without having man beaters and scheming guys open. You're gonna
have to just go through your progressions. And he's like
Andy Reid is letting them dictate what he's what's going
to do to him? Yes, they're playing zone the entire time,
(30:34):
two deep safeties. He's like when I played and there
was Mike Shanahan and they're sitting in too deep, he
would be livid on the sideline and insulted that they're
saying you can't run the ball against a light box.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
That's exactly that is exactly what happened, right, And that's
what I was talking about, is like like the the
where they've fallen kelvin the last two years offensively, and
then to have that performance on a super Bowl like.
Speaker 5 (31:00):
Jump bad without out of Justin and that's what he's known.
It would be different if he was a defensive coach.
He said, you know that you are literally known. Some
people think it's the greatest offensive coach of all time,
one of them at least.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
And you guys were like, all right, here's what we're
gonna do.
Speaker 5 (31:14):
We're gonna go out there and we pray that he
pray Patrick doesn't get sacked on three what two?
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Three? Like that was it? That was the game plan?
Mix it up. So yeah, I was a little disappointed
in that performance for sure. All right, last call, we.
Speaker 5 (31:27):

thought you're getting little bit more. We remember, we.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Were like, oh, they're bringing the steak, like that is
a sampler, right, this is the sampler.
Speaker 5 (33:02):
No, this was the Yeah, literally, Alex, we all thought
they they're bringing it, and it was like, no, it's
on the plate.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
It was.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
It was on the plate with the potatoes, and that
was it. That's crazy, but but I will admit it
was delicious.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Oh they didn't miss with anything.
Speaker 5 (33:16):
Man, I had crab viigns Alex, I never even heard
of that in my life. Crab Vigne's steak, fried rice

creole on a bombbond, dude.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
So did Sager feed that to you? I'm just asking.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Now we tugged it out. It was like, yo, here
you go, bro. He like threw it at me.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
Hey, I threw it at back. I could push back,
you know, after you make h.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
Yeah, no, no, no, no, he didn't.
Speaker 5 (33:43):
This was when you were taking Robsie's bread, when he
was buttering up their breaking the tramp.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
All right, let's go, Yeah, I bet you want to.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
Let's go. Who we got.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
In its last time on the odd.
Speaker 5 (34:19):
Dude clearly does not have a Valentine's data. Now he's
just screaming call all night.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
You go, Kevin in Culver City, You're in the last
call on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
What's up? Cast up? Kevin? Got? It's good all the time.
Speaker 10 (34:33):
Hey we got I got something for you. Guys man,
you're playing that that rip James you're taking back to
the Forum in nineteen eighty two.
Speaker 13 (34:41):
I'm saying, all I need to hear is Lantanna.
Speaker 10 (34:43):
Going Laker Girls. But uh, that was a great, great,
great song.
Speaker 13 (34:47):
I got. I got two words of the chiefs. Hey,
you better go get Ronnie Stanley to go help out
my homes and for the NBA Robison spot on. But
what's destroying the league, or the coach is telling these
players you gotta shoot three. If you're not shooting threes,
(35:08):
you're going to the bench. So the players are scared
and they just don't shoot those threes.
Speaker 10 (35:12):
They're gonna be on the bench. I'll never forget Alvin
Jentry telling a young Anthony Davis when he got the
job of the Pelicans, I want you shooting more threes.
You better shoot threes. And it's destroying the league to
showing the mid range game. So now we don't have that.
So now you got these players coming up on teams
thinking they got to shoot ten fifteen threes, and before
you know, that's why you have so many blowouts at
(35:34):
ten points a thirty five am.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
All right, Cam, there's so many blowouts night after night
after night.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
It is bad. Hey man, pictures of type of big booty.
That's especially on Valentine's Day.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
All right, so much.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
Rob G, you got something?
Speaker 6 (35:50):
Yeah, just quickly, because you guys will give me a
lot of crap this week that I wasn't here, that
I was here, but I wasn't really here because I'm
making you last.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
Yeah that's true.
Speaker 6 (35:57):
But as far as today goes, all right, this was
my Kobe sixty point night on the way out.
Speaker 4 (36:04):
No sporting events.
Speaker 6 (36:05):
To talk about. I feel like we had a damn
good show.
Speaker 4 (36:08):
We did have a good.

But let me sit there and do that. We already

Speaker 5 (37:00):
