like I was like, I want to reply, but I

I don't have time. It's like, so what are the
keys of life than Kelvin right now, Kelvin Washington.
Speaker 2 (00:53):

get through the radio thing. Are you gonna talk about sports? Now.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yeah, you know, I gotta give them. Let me continue

They always do great works to appreciate everybody. Oh matter
of fact, let me let me do this too. Uh
you know, I do the news Spectral News one out
here in LA. We did this and shot out to
of my ep there.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Mark.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
He had a great idea to the end of the show,
and we ended the show crazy. We have people with
blowtorches in there cooking food and I literally mean blowtorches
and I literally mean cooking the food I posted on
my Instagram Kate Live follow me there.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
But he did something really cool. He just uh and
he was doing it all week.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
He was taking pictures like kind of like hey, you
two get together, Okay, hey YouTube it right, Hey you
three And what he ended up doing was created a
uh because today is National Employee Appreciation Day and we
have a lot of crew.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
You know, everybody sees me every single day.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
They see our meteorologist, they see our you know, update person,
they see they see the people, right, but they don't
see the Alex if you will of Spectrum News one.
They don't see the Shade, the Steve the Saga of
Spectrum News one, if you will. And so he did
something really cool there and we took all those pictures
he was taking off through the week. He did it
like like the end of a movie if you will, credits,
Like it was like their their pictures and everything and
(02:43):
then what they do in their role and it was
really cool. So what that being said, I want to
shout out you guys. Shay Alex obviously I'll hear Steve
all the day, all day, but Steve as well, Saga, Elijah.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Brandon and everybody.
Speaker 1 (02:58):

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Seriously, Rob and I they might post our stuff, our
faces on the clips and our voices on the podcast,
but you all help it.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Help us do this.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
And shot to Rob g who's not here as well,
and make this thing, Mary Mac all the people, man,
mon see everybody man, So uh appreciate everybody. You all
do amazing work. And I want to make sure I
say that not to get all muschy and stuff around it.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
You got really bushy though, but yeah, you know what,
I'm single tier coming out. It was, but you don't
all blame.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
But Jesus, to Jesus would have appreciated. He would appreciate it, correct, right,
that's right.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Oh man, we gotta get to this. Lebron James has
a big game. He and the Lakers take it on
the New York Knickerbockers and it's going down. It's a
great game, fourth quarter, competitive but in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
It was a moment. I ain't have anything to do
with the game at hand, Carrie.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
That was Lebron and stephen A having a moment there
which we couldn't really tell in real time. Someone posted
it weird because he it like blew up later through
like throughout the night because they seemed like just a
fan got a great shot of it really quick, maybe
no more than seven eight seconds, and Bullman goes and
it takes off. So essentially the National Mouth Readers Association,
(04:14):
and that's made that up kind of can you get
to the point and in steven A will talk about
it until you hear that in the moment, but that
Lebron essentially say hey, man, keep my son's name out
your mouth. And he said it in an unusual Lebron way,
meaning Lebron no matter what players. You've seen players slam
him on the court, you've seen players talk about it.
He kind of takes it very politically correct. Or he'll
get up from a hard file and kind of shake
(04:35):
it off. He doesn't go a guy you've never seen
him fight, you know, really he was in stephen A
Smith like he wanted.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
All the smoke, like all of the smoke.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah, he wanted to smoke, and it was first you
kind of like it was jarring because that's typically not Lebron.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
So you're kind whoa.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
But again you talk about someone some But here's what
steven A had to say today on first take.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
That wasn't a basketball player confronting me.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
That was a parent. That was a father.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
And I can't sit here and be angry or feel
slighted by Lebron James in any way in that regard.
By all accounts, he's obviously a wonderful family man and
a wonderful father kids very very deeply about his son.
And based on some of the comments that he had
heard or shall I say, I think he thought he heard,
he clearly took exception to some of the things that
(05:25):
he heard me say, and he confronted me about it.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
He went on to say that if I were the
roles were reversed. As a father, Stephen H. Smith was saying,
I cannot definitively say I wouldn't have done the same thing,
meaning if I were Lebron, when I have not confronted
said reporter you know who had said things about me.
This is an interesting conversation because We're an interesting time
where we're starting to see so many players in the
(05:52):
NBA we knew their sons, right.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
We got Scottie Pippen Jr.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Playing pretty well out there Memphis obviously, Klay Thompson has
a Hall of Career Michael Thompson, his father, Steph Curry Delker, Like,
it's normal, Tim Hardaway Junior. Like, we have a bunch
of guys in the league, and those are the father's names.
We know there's a bunch of other fathers who you
didn't really know because he was eight, nine, ten men
on the team.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
But it's sons in the league. You just don't know
that you didn't know him for sure.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
And so now we're getting in this area where guys
are like, we're talking about players' sons that we knew.
You know, and you know when you're seeing you're connected
to or maybe you have a relationship with in this case,
steven A with Lebron And we don't know the exact
thing that he said that may have ticked Lebron off, right,
But I do think what I found interesting was and
(06:38):
I got to give some love to steven A. Smith
because I know he takes a lot of flak and
a lot of people go at him and about certain things.
But I was actually shocked because you know what I expected.
I'm doing my morning show. I'm up early. He sends
out a tweet about an hour before first take, and
he says, I didn't want to address this, but I
have to. We're gonna do it on first take Da
Da da Day and my Steven A. Smith show on
YouTube Da Da Da. And I'm like, oh boy, now, Lex,
(06:59):
you know what I thought was look.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
At me, put the camera on me. Let me tell
you something right now. I know you. That's good. I'm
not scared of you. I ain't going to know. I
thought it was gonna be that game Earth.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
You don't even know me, tough guy, Stephen A dark
wing dunk, Yeah, dark exactly. That was actually pretty shocking
for me that he turned it around and said, hey man,
as a father, I get it. As a father, I
wasn't talking about your son. I thought I was talking
about you, Lebron, is what he said. But I can
see as a father where you have feel some type
(07:32):
of way about this.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Now.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
What I also will say is Lebron James for the
remainder of the next whether it be one year, two year,
twenty year career of Lebron Brani. Yeah, this is par
for the course, meaning he is now going to get criticism.
He's going to get criticism about his game. He might
even get criticism about the way he had. What are
we talking about with Luca? He's out of shape. Maybe
(07:54):
they say Brianni needs to getting better shape. Maybe he
needs to do that. Like these things are happening, and
these things are coming, and this is part of the
thing with a professional athlete. Now, it is uncanny how
much he gets scrutiny or even conversation for a fifty
fifth pick, but that is because his name is Lebron
James Junior. Yes, so I'll say this and I'll talk
to Oliver you Carrie. I was blown away the way
(08:15):
Steve Nate Smith had. I totally thought he was going
to go skate, you know, burn the air down.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
He didn't.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
I also was shocked at how Lebron ran up on
him like that, because that's very just very much unlike Lebron,
which lets me know, and I think it's what let
Stephen A.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Smith know.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
It struck a personal nerve, yes, and not just a
basketball And.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
This has been bubbling underneath the surface for a long time. Right,
that was if I ever see you as owned. This
isn't an isolated event, right, it's a nice laated the
event because he's at the game. But this has been
brewing for a while, right, But I just go back
to Lebron. He bought this. He brought this on himself.
The helio centric culture that is Lebron James. Everything that
(08:56):
happens around him is coordinated one hundred everything gets a
hundred percent. Everything is in his control, and so when
something isn't in his control, he doesn't like it. Even
just take this, I mean, just to have this perspective, Stephen,
they said it earlier. He can't text Lebron directly but away,
(09:17):
and that can happen both ways. So if he really
wanted to have a moment like he had the other night,
he could have text him and they could have had
their moment outside of the cameras. Lebron did that in
the fourth quarter against the Knicks, knowing that everybody's going
to see it and know that Steve Nay is not
going to come back at him in that moment.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
So again, it's control, it's controlled.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
So I always have a problem with that when it
comes to lebron I can't get around that idea. Love
him as a player, what he's done for the game,
I believe has been really good for the most part.
But he's at that stage now where he feels like
he hasn't gotten his just due, which is crazy to
me because he's gotten.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Just forty years, Like there's no more on top. You
can go, No, just play basketball.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
Enjoy that your sons in the league because people are
gonna talk about your son in the league. He's there
because other guys, if they would have been in his
Bronni's position, would not be playing day one in an
NBA game.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
It's just part of it, part of what he did
and add to a care not only that they wouldn't
be necessarily playing with the Lakers franchise. And oh, by
the way, at the exact same time their father's playing
and in game one, game one, he's not ready and
not have to go to the G League to do
home games here and then not traveled and do this
and do that. So listen, when there are special circumstances,
(10:38):
it's going to cause for special criticism or attention. Yes,
if Bronnie gets drafted and he goes. So I'm looking
at Memphis right now and he's a fifty fifth pick,
and Lebron kind of chooses to do more of a Hey,
I saw him.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I'm just let him. He's gonna grow, he's gonna be
on his own.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
And it kind of goes away a little bit, not extreme,
because you still love Bron James Junior, but he's on
the same team with him.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
He's plays day one.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
He sticks with the team when everybody else at this
point goes to the G League and has to earn
it and kind of grow through it. And I'm not
saying he's been putting any work down there when he's there. Yes,
I was a strong proponent of him going down there,
killing the G League for the rest of the year
and coming back up, you know. But I do think
there's a part of Lebron where you're not being fair
to the given circumstances. He comes into the league. He's
(11:26):
your son. He had a healthcare the year before, so
it wasn't that he even played that great the year before, right,
But that's fine.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
The Lakers shows a draft him, that's fine. Eight that
was their decision. That's fine.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yeah, but he's going to the team while you're playing.
You are a special, unique, one of a kind player.
We talked about you for the last twenty plus years.
These are special circumstances that make for fodder for make
for conversation, and you're involved.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
We're gonna talk about it now.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
I do think there's an element I don't know that
Steve and I have ever said anything personal like that
was disrespectful for And the last one I'll make carry
is this can't just be about Bronnie to me, I
do think there may be an elemental more so the also,
are you questioning my parenting skills?
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yeah, you said off are Yeah, you.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Get what I mean, because Steven a is actually never
really to my knowledge, and I went back and listened
to things said anything flagrant or out of bounds about Brownie.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
He wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
He would because that's not as much as people don't
like Steven that he doesn't make things personal. He made
a personal once with Kyrie Irvin. Yeah, that's and they
squared that away, they did. But you're right, I'll give
you that. But I think it's more. I think bron
took offense to the idea that you don't you're maybe
saying I'm not putting my son in the proper position
(12:39):
or I'm not doing what's best or right by my son,
And I think that may be offended him more so
than the actual backsketball criticism of Bronnie.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
And when you said that, off Ara, it made sense.
I mean, I'm not a fother, but I would get that,
like I could. I've been around enough to see that
if you mess with somebody care.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Yeah, and you're questioning how I'm parenting or if I'm
putting in the best position that I know what's best
for my son, that hits a little different, then just
Bronnie can't make a jump shut all right, you know right.
I mean it hurts because it's your kid, but all right,
you know he got to deal with this either way.
You know, Bronny shouldn't be in the NBA. I know
they were gonna say that anyway. But if you start
questioning I'm doing what's best for him, or I don't
know what's right for him, or I'm putting him in
(13:19):
bad positions, I think that's where it maybe comes a
little bit personal. But eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox,
lebron and Stephen A. Smith, what did you make of
that and did Bron had a lot of people online
are saying, hey, man, he's a father first. Some are saying, hey,
Bronni's a you know, a relatively grown man. If you will,
he's in the league, you know, he's he can be
(13:39):
on his own. Some people are mad and stephen A
staying you should have stad more. Just your thoughts on
this eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Was it
handled correctly? Or were you upset with how it was
handled and how it went down? Eight seven to seven
ninety nine on Fox. We got Mark Medina coming up
as well. We'll talk some more NBA action with him.
It is The Odd Couple, Fox Sports Radio, stick and Today.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Unless you heard Lebron's feelings in the US.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

Speaker 2 (14:16):
You know, I love this song and it's because of
the movie Friday.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Obviously when it came out I was either not born
literally or like one or two when it originally came out,
but then Friday, Fox Sports Radio. It is the hot
couple kelvin Washington, Kerry Roads and for Rob. Rob is
enjoying some time with some spring training baseball. You know
how much he loves baseball. And we're coming to you

Oh you dullion yea. That echo was crazy in like
(15:03):
eighty two to bost that back you hit it out,
Big James. Was still a little reburb and a little
left right on your cap. But I know, but that
was crazy in eighty two. Wow, big shot there this
Memphis Dallas game, the hitting buzzer beat. Oh you're a
Mavericks fan, aren't you. Yeah, I'll pray for you. It's dark.
It's some rough times for you right now, dark, right now. Man,
(15:26):
Lebron James, you brought up a great point too. By
the way, I appreciate you bringing up a good point
like that. We're talking about Lebron James and Steven A.
Smith just the Lebron and everything obviously or operating in
his world. And if you've ever been around him, it
is true. I mean there are people that you don't
even see off in the distance who are watching and
knowing exactly what's going on. He will literally look side
(15:46):
to side. You've been around here. He is aware of
everything and how everything's going. You brought up a great
point just of him maybe confronting Steven A. Smith in
a position where I can't lose in a sense of
you know, I gotta get back in his game. So
it's not like we're gonna fire. I gotta get back
in a game. And I'm bigger than you, so I'm
not really worried physically. But I get to say, it's
in front of you. I know everybody camera's on me,
even if you ain't here. Yes, but in this moment,
(16:08):
blah blah blah blah, they'renna see it. So there was
an interesting point there. But I will say for him
to buck up and kind of be like that, that
definitely something felt personal for Lebron because he doesn't normally
do that. Even when players literally elbow in the face.
So we're taking calls about their interaction. I actually was
blown away at the what's the term I want to use,
the restraint, maybe the introspective perspective from Steven A.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Smith.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
I thought he was gonna come for all the smoke.
You don't you ever try to you know, next time
I see you. The next day today he sat with it.
He thought what he said, I thought up, pondered for
underwooded for hours and and he just kind of said,
as a father, I get it. I can't say I
wouldn't have done the same thing as a father. That
was interesting to me. Want to hear with your thoughts
eight seven to seven ninety nine on Fox taking calls.
Let's go to Phil out in Minneapolis. Uh, phill you
on the eye couple, Fox, Worset Radio Phield don't Henfield?
Speaker 6 (17:01):
Yeah listen what what?
Speaker 7 (17:04):
Who?
Speaker 8 (17:04):
Listen?
Speaker 6 (17:05):
How many sports I played?
Speaker 9 (17:06):
Pick up?
Speaker 6 (17:07):
Fickbawn note, baseball note, hockey note the basketball's played pick up.
It's a street game. So when you talk about Sammy Sallely,
you're gonna get that even at the pro level, it's
just a natural cultural type thing. You guys know, you
talk about SEMy Sally that the spots ality artist New York.
(17:29):
It's already a bunch of trash talking and all different
type of venues out that way.
Speaker 8 (17:33):
Yeah, he just brought it to the table.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Yeah, Phil, I think that's all good.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
But why do it on the stage where stephen A
can't get back at him?
Speaker 6 (17:41):
Because because just what you said, Phil.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Said, I had Lebron on Lebron. All right, Phil, thank you, man,
appreciate the call. Let's go out to Riverside where we
got Brandon. Brandon, you're on the eye couple Fox Sports Ready,
what's up being?
Speaker 9 (17:57):
It's going on? Colors man? What's going on?
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Yo?
Speaker 2 (17:59):
Yo?
Speaker 9 (18:01):
Hey man? I think that was whack man. He he
did that and like you said, on a T and
T Network game in front of all them people. You
already know that thousands of cameras on you. You said
all these things about your son. He's Steven Age just
doing his job as criticizing you and the Lakers and
your son for his for Bronnie James. We all know
(18:24):
what is he gonna go after everybody?
Speaker 10 (18:26):
Now?
Speaker 9 (18:26):
That means he will have to go after everybody, Charles Barxley,
he had to go after Shack, he would have to
go after you guys. There's nothing to say that you
all are saying anything.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
No, he would, Yes, you're right, Yeah, we have to
go after Rob Parker, like come on, like that was wack.
Speaker 9 (18:42):
I'm understand it because I have I have children too,
and I would defend them if it's needed to be defended.
But you all said the work team. Bronnie James is
a grown man now. He's just young in the league.
We understand he got in there because of his father,
and that's cool and I have nothing against that. But
you just gotta let Brownie James. What is like you
(19:04):
just made it worse because all it's gonna do now
is people gonna say I want lebron James to say
something to me at a basketball game and he not. Hey,
up there, You'll have a good week here, no doubt
you too.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Be Thank you for listening. Man, We appreciate you. Let's
go out to I mean we're gonna go to Chili
Tim in Atlanta. I don't know your fall working this time.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Tim. You're good?
Speaker 7 (19:22):
Yo yo yo yo yo yo yo, Yes, I'm good.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
Almost almost had a fire shave, man. I thought she
was doing him something.
Speaker 7 (19:29):
Man, Man, I'm gonna do real quick about the shoot everything.
I'm gonna address the job. Bro. The only guy I
was gonna say about the shooting. And this is double
standard because you know Larry Johnson's Stacey aug and Greg Anthony.
You know, they had a certain day to do. Guys
playing with passion, Angel Reese and those guys. The ladies
had the same reputation. But you know, came to cart
(19:51):
plays the passion.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Jo Listen Tom Brady cussing somebody out on the side.
I look at him, and he cares somebody else doing
there being in mouth continent. I get what you're saying.
Speaker 11 (19:59):
That's real passion.
Speaker 7 (20:01):
So but with Lebron James, I'm kind of disappointed in
Stephen Ain't a little bit. And here's why, because I've
heard him on news occasions, you know, talk about you know,
black fathers and how we should be in the community
and stuff like that. So I think at that time
you kind of back down when you should have, you know,
because I've heard you do it before. I've heard him
(20:21):
comment plenty of times about you know, things in our
community and how we should behave and things like that.
So I think he kind of let Lebron off the hook.
I don't know what the reason was, but I think
there's other times that he didn't give considerations. He was
so he didn't mind talking about, you know, things in
the black community and black fathers and things like that.
So I was a little disappointed. I thought he let
(20:43):
Lebron off the hook for whatever reason, and then to
Lebron brought this. I mean, he put that target on
his kids back when he was still in high school.
What did he say, Bronni was better than half the
guys playing in the league. So, I mean, you invited.
And that's the thing that bothered me about Lebron. He's
I don't think he's sincere, but there's any gene about
about him at all. Everything's manufactured and uh and so yeah,
(21:07):
I just think his passive aggression name ship, he just
kind of turns me off.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Yeah, you don't say tim, I didn't think so. Wow,
I didn't see that coming. Chillie Man, appreciate the call.
Thank you so much. You're making Rob smile somewhere wherever
he is. And one more quickly before we get to Steven,
go to Charlotte. Team out in Charlotte. There you're on
the eye couple. Fox Sports Radio. What's up team?
Speaker 7 (21:29):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 6 (21:29):
Guys?
Speaker 7 (21:30):
I appreciate y'all, man, no problem, thank you, hell man.
Speaker 11 (21:33):
I didn't like what Lebron did to Stephen.
Speaker 7 (21:35):
Ain't like that, man, because I respect Stephen they and
how it's respective on the game and how he called
the game. And I didn't think Stephen they wanted to
mess his money up. That's why he came out with that.
It was on the day he just signed, you know
what I mean, because he's on NBA Countdown, he's all
over the NBA, cover in the NBA. So I just
didn't think lebar should came at him with all that
(21:56):
steam when you see a lot of other reporters of
journal is doing the same thing that Steve's.
Speaker 9 (22:02):
Doing, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Yeah, all right, So.
Speaker 7 (22:04):
That's that's that's all I want to say.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Now, y'all get it, Tea.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
I mean, that's one of the things if you go
for him, do you go for everybody?
Speaker 2 (22:10):
You know? And that's an interesting point there. All right,
t thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
We'll continue this conversation Mark Funky Comdina gonna join us
here on the other side of trending right now.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
Steve the Sega, what's up, Steve.
Speaker 10 (22:20):
Well, Cleveland Calves have won twelve games in a row. Hey, there,
and it's only a two point lead for him in
the final seconds against the Hornets, who have lost eight
in a row.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
Charlotte with a record the opposite direction.
Speaker 10 (22:31):
Exactly, Charlotte with a record of fourteen and forty seven.
But Miles Bridges has thirty nine points in this game
about twenty seconds left, Calves up one twelve one ten
Grizzlies lead with nine minutes left to Dallas one hundred
to ninety seven. The mav say Anthony Davis with the
strain deductor is improving, but there is no date for
his return.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Kind of I'm not sure that's a story.
Speaker 10 (22:55):
Oklahoma City has won five in a row and they're
winning again tonight mid third quarter against Portland's seventy four
to fifty seven. If OKC wins, the record will be
fifty two and eleven. It's Utah at Toronto, Okay. It's
probably not televised, but the Raptors are leading ninety six
eighty two early in the fourth quarter. Raptors at currently
(23:15):
twenty forty two.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
How much would have to pay you to go to
that game?
Speaker 10 (23:19):
Well, it's in Toronto, so quite a bit.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Quite a bit right, man, I'd be that's a bad game.
Speaker 10 (23:25):
Not that I wouldn't love to visit Toronto, h still
the city next to Toronto. Timberwolves are leading mid third
quarter at Miami seventy to sixty two. The late game
is the Clippers hosting New York after ten thirty pm
Eastern Time. Jalen Brunson of the Knicks out at least
two weeks with a sprained ankle. Final weekend of the
men's college basketball regular season. There's a game on Fox
TV right now. Number eighteen Perdue leads at Illinois sixty
(23:48):
three fifty three with about eleven and a half minutes
to go, and in the first half at number sixteen
Memphis Tigers down twenty one to twenty against South Florida.
The first conference tournament title game is this Saturday nights
in the Ohio Valley. There are conference tournaments going on
right now and women's hoops. In fact, Duke's about to
put away Louisville in an ACC quarterfinal. Number one Texas
(24:10):
won an SEC quarterfinal, and in the Big Ten quarters
USC advanced, UCLA advanced Michigan upset Number fifteen Maryland. The
NHL's trade deadline was today, defending champion Florida acquired Brad Marshawn,
Boston's injured captain. Right now on the ice, it's a
lead for the Capitals of five to two over the
Red Wings with about seven minutes left. Winnipeg has won
(24:33):
again six to one at New Jersey, and the Seattle
Seahawks did trade quarterback Gino Smith to the Raiders, where
he'll play for coach Pete Carroll. Seattle gets a third
rounder in return.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Back to you all right, Steve, thank you so much.
Have a great weekend, Steve, thank you. We are coming
to you live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
It is the couple on a funky flashback Friday, kelvin Washington,
and we got my man, Carrie Rhodes. And for Rob
who's enjoying some spring training for right now, carry the
time for our guy, Mark Fucky co Medina. Mark, you
(25:03):
can rest assured, well maybe we'll see carry my yell
at you. I was gonna say, you and Rob have
your little yelling matches, but carry my yell at you man.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
What's up? Mark? How you doing?
Speaker 11 (25:13):
Mark robs the way at spring training because I was
about to rip him for trying to do this Floord
management during the NBA season exactly.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Hey, Fox Sports Radio NBA insider Mark Funcky Comdina here,
Mark Man, just, uh, let me ask you this. You
covering the league for so long, have you had any
remote kind of incident like steven A and Lebron had
ye last night?
Speaker 11 (25:39):
No, certainly, not like that. I mean I've definitely had
I haven't really had a lot of those conversations. There
was one during my years on the Lakers feet where
D'Angel Russell and I had some exchanges throughout the season
just because he was a rookie and didn't like certain
lines of questioning. But it was always respectful professional. I
mean Lebron and even it was out in the open.
(26:01):
Obviously Lebron was very very upset, and I think we
know what the subject matter was all about it. It
was about Braun and there's kind of a lot to
on tack on what to make of it, for sure.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
Mark, I want to move on from the Lebron stuff
for a little bit, but also stay with the Lakers
and Laker country. I know Luca once he got traded there,
the situation was a lot for him and it was
pretty tough for him to handle being a guy that
sees loyalty being such a big staple in his life.
How has the move been, How has he progressed to
be to fit more in with this Laker team.
Speaker 11 (26:37):
Oh, it's been automatic. It's been plug and play. You're
seeing after the first I think two games, Luka doctors
been lukadciv So I don't want to say that he
has gotten past the trade. I think emotionally he's more
about embracing the Lakers and finding the joy and playing
well than you know, revisiting how could the Mavericks trade me?
But he definitely has a chip on his shoulder. Was
(27:00):
like the rest of this season, it's going to be
an few tour to the Dallas Mavericks for every time,
every time he's hitting a shot, he's yelling and talking
you know what the opposing team's bench, and the Lakers
like that because they want competitive fire and I think
a motivated Luca is a dangerous Lupa. So you know,
(27:20):
after after the Mavericks game that they had, I think
that's all out of his system. But now he's he's
riding that ship and the Lakers will take it because
usually that helps them win game so far.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
I was about to say, you sure, as out of
his system. He doesn't have that April date circle.
Speaker 11 (27:36):
Believe me. I was gonna say, well, maybe they mean
the playoffs, But now the Mavericks season is done, like
they don't have any healthy players anymore, so I guess
wait till next season. But I think the emotional part
of it is out of his system as far as
stealing sad as he got traded, the connections he had there,
he thought he was going to obviously be with the
Mavericks the same way that Dirk Knovitski is there. So
(27:57):
now I think the emotions for it is about the
competitiveness as well. It's just embracing the fact that he's
with the Lakers. I mean, even though he's only been
with the Lakers for a month. He fits a lot
of criteria on what a lot of Faker Laker fans
liking the players. One he's a superstar player. Two he
might be able to help them win a championship. Three
(28:17):
he's already had a connection to Kobe Bryant when he
was around, and four he hates a lot of the
teams that Laker fans say. He doesn't like the Clippers. Yea,
Al doesn't like the Mavericks, so it's like a perfect
good here.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
And by the way, you did the disrespect you have
with the Mavericks right now. Okay, they're at one oh
three to one hundred right now, beating up on Memphis.
Take that Mark talking about they're dune Mark Fucky comedin
our guests right now in the odd couple.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Hell, I want to ask you about this. Let's stay
on the West coast. Man.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
You got the Lakers twenty and eight since New Year's
they've been playing well obviously and even better if you
want to go more recently with the record. But then
if you also look at the Warriors what they've been doing, man,
and all of a sudden they start to look at
you know, Okase, he's running away with the West. But
people are starting to worry. Well, okay, see, do they
have the veteran experience, how they have the bruises that
they've been through the battles enough in an actual playoff thing?
Speaker 2 (29:07):
So do you think they're up against it?
Speaker 1 (29:09):
And when we get into the actual playoffs or are
they just still so far and above better than everyone else.
Speaker 11 (29:15):
Well, if I had to place money and believe me,
I'm not placing money, but if I had, it would
still be the Thunder. I think that they're a complete team,
and yeah, they don't have any experience that they went
through the playoff shortcomings last season. But Lakers Warriors, they're
now in the championship contention conversation. Where before the trade deadline,
before the Warriors got Jimmy Butler, before the Lakers got
(29:37):
Luka doncris, I thought both of those teams best case
scenarios second round, most likely scenario is maybe playing first round.
Though the Lakers and the Warriors are on another level
here that I would actually guess that at the end
of the season, the seeding is going to be in
this order, Thunder, Lakers, Warriors. That's how much impactful these
(29:59):
trade deadline moves have made. And as as it pertains
to the Warriors, you know, Steph Curry is still able
to cook as he always does, but he doesn't have
as many double teams Himmy Butler scores in every way.
Steph Curry doesn't with mid range shoes, free throws, easy
buckets at the rims. Steph still does his threes, and
he brings a level of toughness that's frankly, only Draymond
(30:21):
Green has had on this team in the past season.
So it's a really good combination, and you know, it
just makes for a more dangerous while wild West.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
We've been talking about the Eastern Conference, I think for
the most part, with it just being Cleveland and Boston
the top, you know, a top the East and pretty
much is going to be that. That's going to be
the Eastern Conference Finals. But I'm going to talk about Milwaukee.
They've gotten healthy, they got the trade mccous man, They're
playing well down the stretch here. Joannis has been planning
uh an all star, superstar level NB. We don't talk
(30:54):
about him, right, Like, what do you see about that team?
Do you think they can make any noise in the East?
Speaker 11 (30:59):
Yeah, I think they very well could make the noise.
I still have Boston and Cleveland, as you know, clear separators,
but Milwaukee's defense has elevated that Jannis Antlykupo Jamian Lillard pairing,
I think is one of the best duos in the league.
I think that from a statistical standpoint, it's at its best.
And I'm at the Clippers next game tonight. And why
(31:21):
bring that up is that creates a pathway for Milwaukee
to climb up in the standings, because we just learned
that Jenleen Brunson he's going to be out at least
two weeks because of his right ankle spring they suffered
last night's game against the Lakers. Tibodeaux was saying, not
sure what the grade level of sprain is, but we
have to keep in mind two week timetable just means
(31:42):
that's when he's reevaluate him. He had no idea whether
Brunson is actually going to come back this season. So
ve gain at is the Knicks are going to be vulnerable.
They're competitive. They got car off the towns, but on paper,
Milwaukee I think has what it takes to eclipse them
for third. But I think even if that happens, they're
just going to run into a buzz saw, whether it's
(32:02):
Boston or Cleveland in the second round.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
All right, well, we're gonna stay at EASN Conference one
more real quick, not much time here. The Detroit Pistons
are going to the finals. I couldn't hear you. Help
me out. It was loud in here. I couldn't hear you.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Was that what you said about this?
Speaker 11 (32:17):
How about this they're not going to the finals, they're
at least going to the playoffs, and they're at least
avoiding the playing they're going to get in these are
conference as a sixty kid Cunningham all NBA Jamie Bickerstaff
Coach of the Year candidate. They have a good young core,
great defense, and a lot of good veterans on that
same All right.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
That's ALLDI day.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
They're gonna win at least settle for a winning a
playoff round. I think they're gonna be able to do that,
all right, Mark fucking Cobedina Man, great talking to you
as always, brother, have a wonderful weekend.
Speaker 11 (32:44):

You can tell who what's one of the artists. You
can tell who's got the breath of trouble. He's in
EP shape right now. Yeah, we talk about that all right,
last call on the odd couple. Let's see who we got.
Let's go to you know, maybe we'll take two of you.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
We'll see out field to day Pheling Luca is a Friday.
Let's go to Andrew and Bakersfield, Andrew and the O Cup.
You're the last call or one of the last two.
Speaker 11 (34:54):
We'll see what's up, guys.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
What's up Andrew?
Speaker 12 (34:58):
Hey, I don't know if you heard there was a
Star Wars setting last night in La Lucas. Skywalker and
Obi Wan Lebron, Oh no, and then real quick, I
have a request for you, Lebron. I think you got
one or two years left to respectfully do the dunk contest,
and so I'm asked. I'm asking that you do the
(35:18):
dunk contest. It doesn't matter if you lose, just put
your heart in it and be creative. That's my request,
go Lakers.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
I'm not mad.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Added but to Carrie's point earlier, and there may be
a greater example of Lebron James caring about like perception
and what is there to gain If I win a
dunk contest, you're supposed to win. If I lose every
then it's bad. And then the next part that has
been maybe no greater example to your earlier point of
just how everything is well contrived and operated and it's
(35:49):
or you know, it's orbiting in his own world, his
own solar system, the Lebron system, Because why wouldn't he
do a dunk contest?
Speaker 2 (35:56):
You know what I mean? In his prime?
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Obviously now I get it. Yeah, dude, it would have
been incredible to see. But I just think he for
brand purposes. If I lose, it would have heard him,
which it really wouldn't have, Like we would have we'd
have last for a day or something and all I
can't believe Player X beat him and we'd have moved on.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
No, if you would have lost it and said, see
Michael Jordan won and slam dunk contests, he didn't win, it's.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
You ain't wrong. You ain't wrong when you're right.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
One more, we'll go to Emmitt out of the Olympiam Man,
you are the serious last call on the couple.
Speaker 8 (36:27):
Oh that's gotten. That's the chiefs ont of Andrew but Kel.
I I noticed you're doing that the little uh like
four Man's Christmas hard. I'm not mad at it. I
see what you did there.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
I know I like it. I like it. I don't
love it. Yeah, get mad, Dophin Alex.
Speaker 8 (36:45):
But Kerry Rose, how you doing man, Kevin Washington? You know,
a great show today, Guys.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Appreciate your brother what you got for us.
Speaker 8 (36:51):
No, I'm a Seahawks fan. I feel like I like,
would it would be like disservice and not talk about
Genos Smith. Now, I feel like this was the perfect
deal because Gino, you know, I kind of believe even
a lot of situations in sports or in football, you know,
when you have a new coach, you should start with
a new quarterback. And Gino is that is all time
best with Pete Carroll. And like you guys said, it's
a bridge year for the Raiders and I'm really surprised
(37:11):
we were able to get that third round pick, and
it's like what's next for the Seahawks because you know,
it could be a tank year. But there's also a
lot of reports that we go after Sam Donald, but
the consensus is like among everybody, it's like, yeah, we
can get Sam Donald, but we can't fix that offensive line.
If we can't fix that line, then Donald's not going
to be doing anything no matter who we have. Look
at at Mahomes back there, and it's going to be ugly.
But I like the it's looking up because we have
(37:34):
a bunch of picks. You know, we have the third
round pick, our picks and then whatever we're going to
get from DK metcalfs. So if I'm the Seahawks, the
number one focus this year is drafting an offensive line.
You can sign a filler receiver for a year or two
in free agency, but I think the offensive line is
our number one need this offseason.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Hey, good call and thank you man.
Speaker 6 (37:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
I mean I DK wasn't even the best maybe talent
wise best receiver, but he wasn't the number one focus,
number one receiver this year. I mean, they obviously can
find somebody else to get in there. And that's kind
of a conversation you wish you we have more time
to talk about We were talking about how the s
been feasts are family with receivers, like you got the
top end, and they're making crazy money. And I think
the league is starting to say, you don't have a
(38:15):
real elite receiver with the Ravens, and look how far
they go. Right, look at the Bills. They don't have
an elite receiver. Look out far they go Patrick Mahomes
and act that Kansasy chief DeAndre Hopkins ye has seven
years ago. Yeah, but now I don't have an elite receiver.
Travis Kelcey had two three years ago. They didn't have
an elite receiver. And you're looking at a halful of
teams that have done well and you're like, all right, well,
(38:35):
maybe we don't need that guy.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
I mean, you look at even the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
They paid thirty something million for a j Brown, but
they barely I mean, he was reading books at some
point during the season.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
He wasn't even catching passes anymore. Out there.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
He had a good Super Bowl. But you catch my
drift on that. All right, you got a little over
a minute, So man, what you got going on?
Speaker 2 (38:51):
New EP?
Speaker 1 (38:52):
Working on some music. I came in and you're dropping
some some bangers.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
With Alex.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
Yeah, yeah, yah, just working on the new EP right now.
I mean, just trying a new assortment of sounds. I
want to spread joy and I want to spread like
real love on the airways again. I mean, I think
everything's gotten so negative when as for music. So I'm
just trying to do that. And you know, Alex is
a big music guy. Share it with Alex earlier. If
I would have known you were coming in, I would
have waited. Yeah, but no, Alex school I came in
right there.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
I don't cap no, don't like he wasn't gonna let
it ride, I know.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
But he wasn't.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
But either way, I got to hear it alar and
it was sounded.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
It was exactly.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
I know that the I did a story on Cat
you probably actually know him, but the point of it
was vibration, and he was like, you're switching into a
vibration that spreads positivity, that makes people feel good, that
gives people the energy that they need to kind of
you know, life is life is lifeing and a lot
of people and you can still bounce to it still.
(39:45):
You saw me, I was trying to get out my
water cover of Hey. So yeah, so make and then
hit him with a Twitter. The Socials again. Carry twenty
five roads, Carry twenty five roads. Make sure you find man,
give me something man. I always enjoyed doing the show
with you, sir as always good stuff. Hey have a
one wonderful weekend. Rob will be back Monday. I'll be
back Monday as well.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon is coming up next.
I never miss your radio show. I never hear it,
so I never miss it. Did you hear that
