(01:05):
hot Seat coming up in about twenty eight minutes, very ball.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah, I apologize to him in advance. You know how
we do yes? Is he around?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah? Yeah, he's grab something for real real quick.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
Yea.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
So it's good. We'll do that.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Ye last call in case you couldn't get in earlier
in the program. Will do that as well. But first
let's get a table set up with rob G.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
He just eyes. I know you see that. I saw
you roll your eyes. Rob G, what you did? You
can't see that far. I can't lie. I got my lie.
You know you can't. I didn't roll my eyes. But
if I did, you know you can't see it.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Oh man, let's talk about Magic Johnson had some very
nice words for the joker. What do you say, rob.

Speaker 6 (01:51):
Yeah, about twenty four hours before Nicola Yogic did not
play against the Lakers, because apparently that's what's going on.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
The right he was at least, you know what, they
didn't play the other game so they could easily say
this was real.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
This wasn't right. The eye is open. You don't give
up two games, right, No, that's real. So that's real.
That's real. And they said the elbow contusion. He bruised
his elbows, so we can't play basketball all right.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
Anyways, Magic Johnson was on Byron Scott's Fast Break podcast
Byron Scott, Friend of the show, and he was talking
about the new wave of NBA players and in the conversation,
he explained why he believes that Nikola Jokic two time
MVP runner up or possible winning this year as well.
Is easily the best player in basketball.

Speaker 7 (02:33):
They listen best playing basketball right now, and he reads
situations and defense as well. His basketball IQ is off
the chuck yeah, and then he beats you because he's
off rhythm. He's not one of the best yet, but
he is up there. And the only thing he can't
do like Kareem could do is dominate on both hims. Right,

(02:56):
That's what was missing for him because he's not a
big shot blacker.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
Right.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Defensively, he's a little bit.

Speaker 7 (03:03):
Yeah, to a certain extent, he's the best player in
the league.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Where are you?

Speaker 1 (03:12):
He is the best player in the league. And the
biggest difference is he absolutely is not a great defender,
without a doubt. You know, you can look at some
of the best players in the league. Kobe had his years,
great on both ends. Lebron had his years obviously both
great on both ends. You look at Giannis had a
couple of years. You could argue not nearly like it
used to be. Not right. My biggest thing, you don't

(03:33):
have to be Kawhi, Leonard, Draymon Green, Ben Wallace.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
All I asked for Rob.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Is effort defense is all I ask.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Can you at least be putting up an effort and
can you at least show me that you care Steph Curry.
A lot of people, Oh, he's not a great defender,
You're right. But one thing I give him credit for,
and you know I've been critical love him for a while,
is that he at least gives effort on the defensive end.
He at least tries. Again, he's not Gary Payton, you know,
in his prime, but he gives effort.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
So for me, Gary Payton was the glove, then stuff
is the mint. At least he's covering up something, right.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
My biggest issue is at times we've seen Luca Bruh,
you're not even giving effort, like you're not.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
These are the big NBA players you're gonna be, and
we've seen.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
That, and with Lebron and in this later stage of
his career where Lebron we've even seen some players if
you remember who wasn't who pushed Lebron towards his playing.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Who was that.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
That?

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Like?

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Dude, Because seriously, when.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
A lot like when you play ball, anybody who's played
I don't care if it's Y M. C A you've
pushed the play right and Lebron be and Lebron is
one of the moments you're pushing.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
You go, then I just pushed Lebron on national team.
Oh my gosh. But effort, and that's been an issue
with Luca.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Nowan to let me say this, Well, he'll look at
somebody else You ain't man exactly like LEBRONO look over
and go like, oh you didn't.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
That's your god, dude, that was your man who got
an easy leap. But you should have known he was
coming down the lane. Lebron just say my bad, bruh.
So that's my biggest point. I think you can absolutely
be the best player. I think jok is the best
player in the NBA, and is he the greatest defender.
He's actually taking a step back. They had on the
notes that you know he's a keys U had other
years where he was ranked a little bit better. He

(05:26):
giving some more efforts. So that's my biggest thing. As
long as you give effort. Look, we left some things
to be desired with shak as a defender. You thought
Shaq could be a better defender, better rebounder, blockmore shots.
You know, some Alan iverson didn't really play the He
got stills because he was fast, but he didn't play
great defense. It happens with some guys where they're just
not going to be the best defenders. As long as
you care, as long as you're making effort, I'm okay

(05:47):
with it if you're that dominant, that unique on the
offensive end. Last point, because Matgic Johnson, let's not act
like he was Kawhi Leonard. Let's not actly he was
Bruce Bowen himself. You know, he wasn't Scotty Upping on
the defensive end and Larry Bird, but they cared, they
gave effort, and they were that dominant on the other
end that they kind of made up for those sins.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
That's my biggest point. Yeah, I think you're right.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
You're not gonna be everything that you know all around
in all world on both ends.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
That's why when you talk about Michael Jordan, some of
the stuff he's scary.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
It's scary because he was a very good defense, MVP
and right and stuff like that. What you just don't
see averaged over thirty points in a postseason like like
the Whenever people just talk about Michael Jordan, they think
it's just because he was six and oh, you just
haven't watched him or done.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Your research, Iron Poe.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
I tell people go back and watch a good five
to ten to fifteen minutes of just You once a year,
just to remind, because you know, we all can be
creatures of the moment, a prisoner's of the moment, that's
to say. And just you know, I'll look at this
every now and again. Go remind YOURSELFLF exactly.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
And as a guy was covering the NBA back then,
I was fortunate, h because I was sitting there and
I think I told you this before. That's when Avis
Sturwot's commissioner, and he brought all the writers from upstairs
and put us down court side so we could take
in the game. We could hear the players talking, we
could write about those things and the rivalries and and

(07:11):
you know what I mean. And I'll give him credit
for that, because you can tell a story better when
you're up close and you can hear all those things,
whereas if you're up top, you can't tell what bird
said in that moment or what it Yes, it was
a big deal, but anyway, I think, uh, when you

(07:36):
look at so I don't expect the joker to be
all world on everything. But it's hard to not think
he's not the best player because he easily.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Could have won that MVP that HMB win. It was
it was a drum beat.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
It was a drum beat against him, and he's still
you know, and he didn't win it, but that was
because of that drum beat. Perkins was a big part
of that and talking down about you can't give him
another MVP, hasn't won a championship, and then of course
he went won the championship that off season, and now
you're looking at this year, which is better than any
of his MVP seasons. And then he puts up a

(08:08):
thirty twenty twenty game which is never never an EVA,
never been done before. So when you add all those
things together, how is he not and it's not him?

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Who is it? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Well, I mean the best. So that's again that's where
it gets weird. We all agree he's the best player.
Does that mean he's the MVP for some people? Know,
that's where it gets weird, right, best player and he
just come up with award who's the best player in
the NBA. The best player of war goes to period.
Just call it the best player because so many years
Lebron was the best player for the MVP was Derrick
Gross first, Chack was the best player for a few years,

(08:41):
but it was Steve nash or you know, because that's
where it gets confusing. Some people vote, I'm giving the
MVP to the voy Valuable Player.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Because they're the best.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Some people vote, well, it's based on the team and
if that person, if you subtract them from that team.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
See, I think that it's just changed because everybody thinks
everybody should win stuff and that I don't. I don't
have I don't think you need to. The MVP shouldn't change.
It should just be the best player, uh, the best
player in the league.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
You know what I mean. But I'm with you, But no,
we don't call it that. It's no.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
But if you took him off this team or then
he doesn't have for the help. Sometimes can it just
be the best player the league? Was Michael Jordan period,
But that's just eight nine times, maybe more. But I'm
just saying anyone he only got five MP's. Rob g
you had a question.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Yeah, So to go back to you guys.

Speaker 6 (09:25):
Original point about yokis because the MVP is a whole
different ball of act. We could talk about that all
show if we wanted to. But Magic Johnson said at
the beginning of that clip and early on in the podcast,
you know, Nikola Jokic is just so good. He's one
of the all time great centers already. That's the way
he's starting. He's that good of a player. He's gonna
have that kind of hardware. The question, though, is because

(09:46):
Magic says so, when you guys said so, he's also
a defensive liability. So when we're having that hypothetical conversation
twenty years from now, like, hey, the greatest players of
all time, can Jokic, even with his offensive capable abilities
and all the accolades he's gonna have, can he be
seriously considered amongst the top five or ten players?

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Ever?

Speaker 6 (10:07):
If he's acknowledged of being a turnstile on the other end.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
I think I say no, just off the surface of that.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
But he would have to have such numbers and and
dem like nine MVP, you know what I mean, something
something that's just rob g and not.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
He didn't. He wasn't the first to have a thirty
twenty game. He had a forty thirty thirty game or something.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
You know what I mean, it would have to be
something of that ilk to what you'll be like, Okay,
I know the defensive thing, but dude, this guy could
not yeah, Ween be there. He's supposed to be there.
He was supposed to be that. This dude demolished the
league he won. He wound up winning three early m
vps and then he won five in a row like
something like that.

Speaker 6 (10:52):
Is because with the closest cop be like Larry Bird.
That's that's why is like a great defender. Now he's
still viewed as one of the top good trajectory, I
say yes.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
But the challenge, while he's going to be hard to crack,
it is because when you start listening, first of all,
everybody always says somebody Steph Curry's top ten, and you
gotta relax because once you start NA and not top ten,
there's thirty five people right exactly because it gets crazy.
But if you look at let's just say a roundabouts
top ten, so Jordan clearly right, you're not going there
both great on both ends. You start looking at the

(11:27):
top ten, Rogie, that's one of the things they do
have in their factor. If you want to put Tim
Duncan in there. We know that you want to put
Kobe in it. We know that Lebron in there. We
know that Keem Olajuan, we know that. So like he
started to get a lot of the guys that you
will play Bill Russell if you want to put him
in there. Literally that was his best part was the defense.
A lot of those guys are known for being on
both sides of the ball, so it would be hard

(11:49):
to knock out one of those.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Like is he better than Nikim Olajuan stats?

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Maybe yeah, but like I don't know because the last
point I'll make, he has the benefit. And I always
love hearing when they talk about this. So Chem always said, man,
he should talk to Kenny Smith. He say, Kenny, you
have it easy. Kenny Wild say why why big man?
He would say, because you only got a once every
few nights. You gotta go up against somebody every night.
I'm going up against David Robinson, Shack Alonzo morning to

(12:15):
Ken Bab Matombo like he was going up, you know,
just doing gewing like night after night, Rick Smith's He's
big night after night, really talented. Biggs and Jokis does
have advantage and he doesn't have to what is it
and beating is out. He's hardly plays off the top
of your neck, off top of your adle. AD's always hurt.
But here's the thing, though, who is he going up

(12:38):
against night and night out? And I'm not taking away
he's only beaten who's in front. But I'm saying that
was one thing you might but but to me that
would be a nitpick. And that's fair.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
But the other part is he's destroyed all the like
what he's supposed to do. No, but but with nobody there,
and when he has played some of these guys, he
still has played, you know what I mean, It's not like, okay,
when he plays when there's when there's somebody there, he
says his numbers are bad. That's not the case and
that and that's the only way you could look at it,

(13:08):
because it's not fair to say you can't count him.
I mean, we know this Will Chamberlain when he was
playing in the league and dominated to change all the
rules because he was the biggest guy there, right, nobody
they couldn't guard him, they couldn't go They had to
change the rules to stop him.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
No, that, without a doubt the head you couldn't stand
in the paint. You couldn't dunk. You couldn't do this,
can do that. But that's what my last week. J
played his whole college career. He couldn't dunk. Been dunk
in college.

Speaker 6 (13:36):
Imagine coming down and laying on a fast break really
hard there and gotta just drop it.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
David Thompson, you had to drop it in. David Thompson
was Michael Jordan's favorite player.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Used to dunk Oliver. He used to jump out of
the gym. He would have to just throw it in.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
He couldn't do it all right, eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. Should the fact that Nicola jokicch is
a defensive liability hurt him in the greatest Player in
the World debate. We'll continue that conversation next with you
on this Worship Wednesday. It is the odd couple, Rob

All right, Rob, we're talking about defense. How much does
it matter when it comes to the best player of
the league. Magic Johnson said, Joki just the best player
even though he's not a great defender, and where does
that maybe factor into his all time status eight seven
to seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
So we got all right?

Speaker 4 (15:36):
Mark in Sacramento, NBA Savant, you're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
How are you?

Speaker 5 (15:41):
Mark? Hey, Rob? You guys doing doing good? Great?

Speaker 4 (15:46):
How's the book coming along? Is you got in some sales?
How's it going?

Speaker 5 (15:50):
I am it's coming along good and thank you again.
But it's it's better than not thought. Ralph's good.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
Set the name of it real quick. So people if
they want to go in and order it online.

Speaker 5 (16:01):
Toxic feminism in the Black Sisterhood. Matter of fact, there's
a there's a it's in Times Square running an ad
this weekend. All right, yes, real quick?

Speaker 4 (16:16):
Mark, did we lose you? He said, real quick, and
he meant it now. I think he had something on
his button on the phone. Mark, call back your phone died.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Don't interrupt my joke with some semantics.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Okay, Andre in Massachusetts, you're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (16:33):
How you doing?

Speaker 10 (16:34):
Thanks for taking the call it listen. In terms of
Nicola jokers, yes, he's not a shot blocker. He's not
the Ken Bay mctumbull. Right, he's not out there changing
the games, specifically on the defensive end.

Speaker 11 (16:44):
But I can't.

Speaker 10 (16:45):
Allow that, and I'm not even gonna call it a weakness.
You know, he just doesn't do one specific thing. He
doesn't play above the rim. I think he's a good
position defender. I think he understands angles. But when Nicola jokes,
when he gives you not just from the offensive end,
but in general, he has one of the higher highest
player efficiency rate, if not the highest player efficiency rating
of all times. So in his case specifically, I can't

(17:06):
allow this one area where he's not elite to dissuade
me from all the other things that he does to
impact the game in such a dynamic way. You know.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
You know what's funny, Mark who was up up there,
was talking about how smart he is.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
You know, he didn't get to get his comment in.
But but Drey, I think you're right.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Yeah, I mean he gives it goes back to my point,
and you felt me on just like effort he's trying.

Speaker 12 (17:31):
He's not.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Everybody can't walk around Kevin Garnett Garden multiple positions, but dang,
and I need some effort in some attempt and some
know how up out there?

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Ken in Massachusetts. You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
What's up? Ken?

Speaker 13 (17:44):
Hey, Helenlujah, Herpy Wednesday, yesday, how are you Wednesday?

Speaker 2 (17:50):
You too?

Speaker 5 (17:50):
All right?

Speaker 4 (17:51):
Man?

Speaker 13 (17:51):
Hey, you know you guys are hitting it to too
right on. I can't. I can't stand there when you
and Kelvin agree that I can't put the joker in
the an elite status because he don't play d because
I can't even put Curry in an elite status because
he's the only shoot Street. There's no defense.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Man.

Speaker 13 (18:08):
If they would have played the muscleman, the muscleman, the untrels,
the shocks, the mutimbo block shots.

Speaker 11 (18:18):
Man, this they wouldn't last.

Speaker 13 (18:20):
It wouldn't last. But that's today's basketball.

Speaker 12 (18:23):
No doubt.

Speaker 13 (18:23):
They'll respect still respect Magic.

Speaker 5 (18:25):
It's all right.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Oh you're gonna Lakers. Thank you, kem. I thought we
were talking to John in Massachusetts. That's what threw me off.
That's Ken in California and Kevin John in Massachusetts. You're
on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (18:38):
What up?

Speaker 11 (18:40):
What's up?

Speaker 5 (18:40):
Guys?

Speaker 11 (18:41):
The base Bay be well representative side by time Massachusetts.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Indeed, Yes, how are you good?

Speaker 13 (18:47):
Good?

Speaker 11 (18:48):
I'm good fellows.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
How you guys do it?

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Great? Brother? Thanks for asking?

Speaker 11 (18:50):
All right, anytime, anytime. Enjoyed the show. As always, the
two greatest players in the history of sports Lebron and
Michael Jordan's what separated that was their defensive ability. But
if you're going to look at centers, I think the
four greatest centers of all time Russell, Kareem, Wilt, and
of course Shack, and they were all forces on defense,
especially Shack.

Speaker 5 (19:09):
When he was motivated and in shape.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Not the whole time of his career, Let's not at all.

Speaker 5 (19:14):
No.

Speaker 11 (19:14):
I think in some sense you could make a case
that Shack underachieved in his career. He should have led
the league at rebounding more, should have been a better
defensive player. But so what he gave us was quite
a bit. But I would put I would put Jokic
in with Moses Malone, who was an ultimate effort guy
and also a large rue a lodge One is a
better defensive player than Jokic. But Jokic's offensive numbers are
so incredible. Well, I think here's the here's the thing, guys,

(19:40):
I want to bring this up. I still think his
numbers are inflated somewhat. The rebounds again, with so many
three point shots, there's not like seven men under the
basket fighting for a rebound. In the eighties, guys got
traffic rebounds. Moses Malone, Larry Bird, these guys were like,
you know, battling to get a rebound. A lot of
times the guys get rebound come right to them. That's

(20:01):
one thing. The other thing is the assist. I mean,
if he makes a pass to Jamal Murray and Murray
takes three dribbles and goes to the cop and lays
it in, that's not supposed to be an assist.

Speaker 9 (20:09):
That wasn't before.

Speaker 11 (20:10):
So I think some of the rebounds of the assist
could be somewhat who played it still a marvelous player,
not taking things away from but just in context, I
think that some of his numbers aren't.

Speaker 4 (20:19):
Yeah, I think people used to say about John Stockton, everybody,
you know what every time he I told you best
of salt and pepper.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
That was a two assists already before they gave even started.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Anyway, I got to skey, there was a thing how
you got two sists that we ain't tipped off yet.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
There was a thing with Mark Jackson when he played
with the Knicks and all, and they were like the scorers.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
They were like, wait a minute, what was the other
one I missed?

Speaker 5 (20:43):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (20:46):
We're got to add me, add three or four to
the mix.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
And then all of a sudden, got your average in
twelve assistant, exactly home, Cookie, It doesn't matter, man, all right,
we got the hot seat very long in a second
finigat smizz up. Sorry, man, I apologize in advance for that.
Uh we got no courts coming up with just a
bibber right now? And is what's trending with Monty or Bologna.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live. Damn Sonature, the odd couple are making it
hot in here.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Damn hot.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Time to sit your butt down in.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Cutch pot cooking the hot seat, rob g. We have
an alternate opening. You didn't even know that, did you.
Damn all right, guys, it is the hot seat here
on the OKAPA.

Speaker 6 (21:38):
Fox Sports Radio say when we invite somebody into the
squared circle to.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Go toe to toe with the tag team Champions of
the World. Calvin Washington, Tonight's victim.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
The first time we stepped down of a Fox Sports radio.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
Family, We've got on air personality buried long in the build, embarrassing.

Speaker 14 (22:00):
And looking into the camera right now. Got to put
one and two up and you've got to roll it
because I'm ready. Let's go see you about to get
They're matching tonight. They're matching tonight because they're looking like
attack team.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
We'll have a short night here on because I'm five seven,
five eight on a good day.

Speaker 6 (22:22):
Barry's got three very hot tasing event two on one
against the odd couples. So let's get started. Take number one.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
It is a doozy.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
Barry says that Pete Rose Rest of Peace, the greatest
baseball player of all time. Barry, you got thirty seconds
stay your case.

Speaker 14 (22:37):
All time, Okay, Because when you guys talk about, you know,
like who's the goat when it comes to basketball, we
talk about you know, Michael Jordan, Lebron James. Yes, Michael
Jordan is the greatest I've ever seen live with my
own odds, I'm thirty eight. But at the end of
the day, when you talk about longevity. That's what that's
what it tails when you when you talk about greatness,
it's not just that you were great, but it's how

(22:59):
long you were great, all the different things that you
could do that you brought to the table.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
And Pete Rose, Pete Rose, he leaves the least losing
your first times. Right, it's enough. You heard the bell?
All are you talking? Can I see? Can I see
my timer?

Speaker 5 (23:14):
Though?

Speaker 4 (23:15):
No, you got the buzzer that said that's all you need? Oh,
here you go, longevity?

Speaker 2 (23:19):
What are you talk?

Speaker 4 (23:20):
First of all, I can name like three players off
the top of my head who are greater. Babe Roots,
what Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
We can start with those four who got the most?
You want to talk about You want to know who
play the most games? This is not a debate.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
You had your time chance And when you talk about longevity,
Hank Aaron played twenty four years, had averaged one hundred
RBIs for each.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Year, twenty four hundred.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
And also if you took away his seven of his
all of his home run seven hundred and fifty five.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
He's still have three thousand. You go rebuttal go Berry.

Speaker 14 (23:56):
It's not even close, because at the end of the day,
Pete led the league, get hits, led the league in
the most games plays. And if we want to break
it down, like I mean, he's in top five statistical
categories of a lot of these like main categories that
we talk about, like exit v low and all that
stuff doesn't matter. But like, ultimately, this man not only
was he a leader, he was a great player, but

(24:18):
he was a great manager too. Barry Bonds and Hank
Aaron and all these guys. I loved him, and I'm
a black man that played baseball at a high level.
But at the end of the day, nobody that loves
the game in baseball can sit here and say Pete
Rose wasn't the greatest player of all time.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
You know what he was. He was the greatest hustler.
You know what he was.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
He was the greatest gambler. You know, he was the
greatest hitter. But he was not the greatest player. And
that's okay. There are about a two million people who
had played baseball mobs.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
They go back to the eighteen hundreds.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
So there are plenty of people for him to be
considered a top ten twenty fifty player. That is a compliment.
He ain't got to be the goat, all right, they
call him Charlie Hustle, not to goat. Don't dispect what
he made. It's like that again for you have to
catch his fade.

Speaker 8 (25:00):
Sallis and gentlemen, boys and girls, this is by far
the easiest round I've ever had to judge.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
We don't hit after the bell or the buzzer.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
Guy.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
When your time is up, it's up, it's up. You
will get points deducted for going over. I'm officially squating
because I don't know. And by the way, you listen
to the show, stop backing brand new. Let's go all right,
take number two. Moving down the list, Barry says, and.

Speaker 6 (25:23):
Get this, this is a shot at everybody that was
born in a certain seventies sixties. Here, Chris Brown is
a better dancer than Michael Jackson.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
You got thirty seconds, go for it.

Speaker 14 (25:35):
I'm thirty eight, so I grew up watching Michael Jackson
right where everybody holds the lighters and he's dancing. I've
seen James Brown, I've seen Michael Jackson. I've seen Chris
Brown do the moon walk, but I ain't never seen
them older brothers do the cat Daddy due the Dougie
hit the kwan. So at the end of the day, like,
I'm not saying that Michael Jackson wasn't a great dancer.

(25:56):
I'm saying Michael Jackson, Chris Brown took it to the
next He's better.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
No way, no, how is Chris Brown a better dancer
than Michael Jackson, who's been dancing forever.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
All of his moves, all the stuff we've ever seen, iconic, iconic.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
The reason Chris Brown dances like that is because of
Michael Jackson, plain and simple. Mike was a trendsetter. What
he did people tried to mimic. And we know James
Brown was a great dancer as well. But ain't nobody
better than Michael Jackson as an entertainer, a dancer, and
a singer, period, point blank?

Speaker 14 (26:35):
Have you ever seen Michael Jackson hit the cat Daddy?
Like do some of these young dances, right? Like, Chris
Brown can do everything that Michael Jackson has done, But
I ain't never seen Michael Jackson. I seen Michael Jackson
in a flight jacket, but I ain't never seen him
hit the cat daddy. So Chris Brown, yes, he is
the reason why, you know what I'm saying, Michael Jackson

(26:58):
is the reason why Chris Brown dances like that.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
But he took it to another level and he's better.
That's that's my argument.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
What you want him to cat Daddy from the grave,
He was already dead when it came out. Let me
smoke you real quick, bruh. First of all, ready for
this name of Chris Brown dance. I wait, but you
know the moonwalk and that is Michael Jackson. Chris Brown
wears you can't, but you know.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
The glove that Michael Jackson wears. You know the hat
that Michael Jackson wears.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
And you know who else kinduggie who can cat daddy
my eight, six and three year old daughters? That ain't
saying much. They can do that as well. Don't disrespect
my heap. What he's just telling you the most rolls
from the grave. Don't play with that.

Speaker 8 (27:37):
Now. I will say this, Michael Jackson may not have
been able to do the Dougie, but I know Chris
Brown is definitely more physical in a lot of ways
and just not with his dance moves.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
So we can say a lot more about Michael shows
getting canceled g You're gonna be the last one standing.

Speaker 12 (27:59):
Yeah, on this store, just because I would love to
see Michael Jackson very long yere on the hot seat
with the eye couple one on one.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Hey, this is game seven right here, this is it.
This is for all the marbles, the hottest taken the night.
We say the best for last.

Speaker 6 (28:17):
Barry says, Girl Scout cookies, which are on sale now,
overrated and overpriced. You got thirty seconds tell us what?

Speaker 2 (28:26):
All right?

Speaker 14 (28:27):
So my daughter was a Girl Scout, right, we were
out there selling them outside of Walmart.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
But then it hit me in that moment, I was like, yo, were.

Speaker 14 (28:35):
Selling these girls Scout cookies for like four dollars a pop, right,
don't They got better cookies inside the store and they
cost less.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
And at the end of the day, I see the lady.

Speaker 14 (28:45):
Driving by with with like a little like Marco on
the back of her cars saying, Hey, if you want
Girl Scout cookies, hit us up at seven Saint.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Zero whatever, And I was like, bro, first of all,
that's lazy.

Speaker 14 (28:56):
But at the end of the day, all the girl
Scouts sell cookies outside of the grocery store, which is
the cookie plug, and then they cost more and they
taste worse. Like at the end of the day, like
I mean them in I can get a better THEYMN
min for three dollars and thirty two cents inside the
store made by Nibisco.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
That's what I say.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
Is this on, Do you understand the purpose of the
Girl Scouts is to raise money so that the girls
can go camping.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
And go to Canada Cookies.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
Okay, no girls, but that is the reason we're buying
the cookies, and that's why it's okay for them to
camp out in front of the supermoar. Can we know
that they're cheaper cookies inside, but we're trying to help
the Girl Scouts and the cookies, the butter cookies are
really good, and there are some cookies that are really
good Girl Scout cookies.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
We pay extra because we're trying to help.

Speaker 14 (29:50):
All right, So yes, I understand that, and like I said,
my daughter was a Girl Scout. But at the end
of the day, why spend four dollars for some great
value butter cookies when you can go inside and get
better butter cookies for like two dollars and twenty two cents. So,
like I mean, shout out to all the Girl Scouts,
and I understand what it's for, but like, let's make

(30:11):
it more accessible to the casual cutsuper and like, let's
not park out in front of the grocery stores.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Let's go out from what are your Walmart?

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Then nobody asks you to be worrying about what they
got going on. First of all, let me say something.
Your daughter's so mad at you right now, she's over here.
You disrespecting the Scouts. Don't disrespect the Girl Scouts. Second
of all, when were you selling these cookies in nineteen
ninety six? Four dollars a bus? It's six or seven
dollars a bus. Now what are you talking about? Also here,
where are you getting some of us from?

Speaker 2 (30:41):
You're not?

Speaker 1 (30:41):
They got it on lock. It's just like the NFL,
you only get sixteen games. They only pop up once
or twice a year, MONTI, and that's why we love them.
And it's like, crap, you can't get them any and
every time. I can get those little old random oreos
every day, you can't get those Girl Scout cookies but
once or twice a year.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
And that's why they're winning. It goes wild.

Speaker 8 (31:01):
Barry almost had me there in the beginning because like,
every time I know it's that season, I see their
booth outside of staters, I'm like, I just want to
get water. I don't want to look at some seven
year old's face. In the mom's mind, A're like, go
talk to him. No, you talk to me. So I'm
making your child do it. Also, i'd like to see
where the money actually goes. I don't believe it's going
to them camping Rob. I know you like to help
young women out there, but I don't believe all the

(31:22):
cash is going where it should in this account because
you're not the one making sure the tippings for the
pip you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
So I would like to give it to Barry. But
you did have me at the Samoas and I love those. Yeah,
well done. You tried, young man. Try you sure did.
Many have tried. Mania Fair. Hate the girl Scouts. Oh
my goodness. I just like them. Man. They heckle me,

(31:50):
they do.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
I tell you, they're their original Kiosk people at them.
All all you do is give them go make a donation.
You don't have to buy cookies, make it.

Speaker 8 (31:57):
Any time I go to the store, they're always there. Hi, Okay,
I'll come talk to you. You know, I'll come talk
to you. You ain't got to have something.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
But you can also say I've already bought girls, got cookies.
Thank you.

Speaker 8 (32:06):
I don't want to lie, no, but I'm just saying
I look at them in their little seven year lives
and I say I don't want.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
To with that being said, Uh, you know you talked
to my daughters all the time. Yeah, I got some.
I'm big. I got some cookies to sell you.

Speaker 1 (32:17):

Last call, time on the odd cover? All right, last call?
Who we got? I think I coughed up a kidney? Yeah,
I see it right there on the counter.

Speaker 10 (33:40):
Who we got?

Speaker 2 (33:41):
All right?

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Chili Tim in Atlanta? You are the last call on
the odd couple. What's happened in Chili?

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Tim?

Speaker 3 (33:51):
Up?

Speaker 9 (33:52):
I'm good?

Speaker 5 (33:53):
Let me call me.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Hey, Hey, I want to say this real quick.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
I'm coming to Atlanta the first weekend in May, and
I know I'm going to the Braves Dodgers game on
a Saturday.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Uh, and if you want, maybe we can meet up.
If you want to go there and go to the game.

Speaker 11 (34:11):
We don't have tickets, so probably be there, all right,
so we.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
Need to definitely meet in the stands. Absolutely no, no,
But I know he's in Atlanta and needs a baseball
when we meet at New Orleans again. M Jack came
in and yeah, that would be good.

Speaker 5 (34:29):
We'll meet Okay, yeah, that'd be great.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
And then after that we could go to Madis City.
Definitely not Maxican.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
Come on, man, man, he's trying to stay saying him Wednesday,
But I'm gonna Gary.

Speaker 9 (34:42):
I thought you had Gary Coley because he could have
been been than Gary Long did tonight.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
You know what I'm saying, Very you got Barry, you got.

Speaker 15 (34:51):
Right.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
Now here's my name with Yo.

Speaker 9 (34:54):
So when I can see the great players, I'll look
to see if they could have played in different eras
and so that kind of as you know. And so
I think Yoga's man could have banged all the way
with those guys.

Speaker 11 (35:04):
But I think he could have held.

Speaker 9 (35:05):
His ground one to play with those guys because I'm
fifty six, so I kind of grew up watching Pati
Lonja Moore King. So, but I think he would have
gave them fit to his ability to go out beyond cariminals,
there's a shift level and.

Speaker 12 (35:19):
Things like that.

Speaker 9 (35:20):
I'm not saying those guys didn't have high cues, but
I just think those little.

Speaker 11 (35:23):
Things that he could do.

Speaker 9 (35:24):
So I think he could have played in that area
and dominated, whereas I think they would have they would
have struggled in this area trying to play, you know
with the gage games.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Oh no, chilly, chilly, I mean we always say that.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
You're telling me Patrick Ewing if you if you told
him he could have worked on A three a lodge one.
You gotta remember there are these bigs are allowed to
do stuff that other guys weren't allowed to do, you
know what I mean, It just wasn't part of the game.
So if I told Dream, hey, you can shoot six
threes tonight, and that wouldn't be crazy. If I told
Patrick youw and hey, you can put up four or
five threes, like those guys could knock some stuff down

(35:54):
to Rick Smith, you kidd me, yah yah would have
been hitting them. Sorry, everybody does because it's just a
different game. So you bring up I can think a
good example you bring up with Michael Jordan, like that
wasn't a part of his game, but he told him
if he was, yeah, you.

Speaker 4 (36:07):
Could put up thirteen three and we would eye yeah,
and nobody would like roll their eyes. A coach wouldn't
take you out the game. This stuff that people just
didn't do, because it wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Are you kidding that? Mark Price? Are you kidding you? Kids?

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Go look up Mark Price. If Mark Price was told
you could shoot fourteen threes at night?

Speaker 2 (36:24):
Are you kidding me? It would have changed and everybody
would change in the same thing. Man, we didn't get
to really get on the Jackie Robinson too much.

Speaker 5 (36:31):
We do.

Speaker 2 (36:32):
I'm glad we brought it up earlier. Good point. Yeah,
make sure you check that out if you can, which ye,
And then I'm glad the story's back up. Well you
know that.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
It was, just we have to check tomorrow too to
see if it's still the way things are going around
these parts for sure. Man, I'm gonna get some girl
Scout cookies. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon is
coming up next.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
I never missed your radio show. I never hear it,
so I never miss it. Did you hear that
