right after we get off the air. And I want
people who are just tuning in, we're gonna talk about
the Jackie Robinson situation and what happened.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Yeah, I mean we will get to that. I don't
want people to think that we're like, uh, we'll just
give them very synopsticcause I think there's a lot of
go ahead and you should and then we'll get into
this song. There's just been a lot of secretive lead.
There's been a lot of things, and specifically with some
black leaders. There's been some black military, wonderful people who

(01:39):
have certain honors. They have taken their websites down, like
usually if you go to you know, these federal sites,
you know, oh wow, you know, it shows people who
were honored. One in particularly, I have to put up
a gentleman's name. They brought him down, and they got
a little outrage behind it. They put them back up
and put DEI honoree like that. This is a military
I'm wanna say it with a certain general. I have

(01:59):
to pull it up again and attorney general. I believe,
but I have to pull it up. But then we
find out Jackie Robinson's page was taken down. If you
looked it up, it would give you that little four
or four page not found thing. And of course there's
been some outrage behind them about the pushback talk right,
and so now it's back up. And so there's been
a lot of sneaky things rather that are happening that Again,

(02:20):
the average person, you're going on with your life, your works, kids,
school and all that, and you're not paying attention to.
But it's you know, the idea of rewriting or ignoring
or not highlighting so much of American history and run
Jackie Robinson means so much to American history.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
And if you're a military person, how disrespectful. He served
this country hundred percent. And I think that played a
role in getting it back up because people got to
be like, dude, he won. Just a ballplayer, what are
you doing? Yeah, And back in those days, players went
to war, they fought, and then came back, missed two
or three years of their.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Major league career. Seriously, nobody was immune from it back then,
ye asolt correct. So this is just some little.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Said it got put back up, which is a little
shocking that the pushback must have been really bad for.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
It to be pushback. But again, there's just a lot
of small things that are happening that if you don't
pay attention to, you know what I mean, that's kind
of rewriting or trying to rewrite history or race a
part of history. So Tony We'll jump on that a
little bit later on towards the end of this. YEP.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
So the rob g the report is from coming out
of Minnesota is that they're going to uh stick with
JJ McCarthy and that they're not in on Aaron Rodgers,
or at least not that they want a veteran quarterback
but not Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Is that correct?

Speaker 5 (03:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
The headline of the offseason for Minnesota is forget a
quarterback depth chart, because we only got one guy and
his name is JJ McCarthy. The news today, it came
out on Wednesday, is that the Minnesota Vikings, despite overtures
from Aaron Rodgers side. According to reports, Aaron Rodgers contacted
them said hey, I would love to play quarterback for y'all.
They thought of about it for about a week ultimately

(04:01):
decided nope, we are sticking with JJ McCarthy, which is
now just the latest quarterback that Minnesota has kind of
shunned in favor of their new QB one. Famously number
one Sam Donald, who was their Pro Bowl quarterback, won
fourteen games last year and signed what was basically a
one year contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Minnesota said, nah, we're not keeping you. You know what
Sam Donald's real record was last year, Let's just be honest.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Was what you say it was? Rob He won fourteen games.
What you're gonna say it was.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
He was owing to last year and those are the
two games he lost, the two games he was owning to.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
I do see I do hating, man, No, I'm not hating.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
That's why I got that terrible contract. Think about it,
Rob Jack, that's what you said about Seth. What are
you gonna say about the backup quarterback?

Speaker 6 (04:45):
Saying Daniel Jones, who they wanted to keep to be
the veteran PRESIDENTVI J mccarts terrible and he said, nah, fam,
I might start go ahead to head with that.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
He riching in Indiana. Yeah, and we'll see what happened there.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
You go, there's another general manager, Go ahead and put
Daniel Jones in. Go ahead, Let's see how long your general.

Speaker 6 (05:03):
Now the Minnesota vikingss Minnesota Vikings will enter the twenty
twenty five season, barring injury, with a quarterback in JJ McCarthy,
who number one, missed his entire rookie season due to
multiple knee surgeries. Because he's been rehabbing all they haven't
seen him throw a pass in a convetitive competitive environment

(05:23):
since Week one of last year's preseason, and last but
not least, even in college, only attempted six hundred and
fifty four attempts.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
As a starter at Michigan.

Speaker 6 (05:36):
Guys, are the Minnesota Vikings taking an unnecessary risk here
with JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Well, what they're doing is they bought into who their
guy is that they believe in, and whether I like it,
Rob likes or you like it, they are all in.
They all in on the JJ McCarthy experience. They went
up and got them. And I'm glad you brought up
Rob g those numbers because, again, as somebody who was
from ann Arbert, Michigan, I watched every one of his
throws and we were all like, good, But did you

(06:06):
watch Tom Brady at Michigan? I did? And how did
he look to you? Better than better than James, better
than he didn't be the goat?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Okay, Yeah, I'm just I just want to let everybody
who says they saw somebody in college I watched soccer
agree what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
No, that's why it was a sixth round draft, right, Okay?

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Because he wasn't that he had a dad Bob as
a as a college guy just out of college.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
You look horrible. He did, Seriously he did. I'm just
saying my point. Look at you now, you defended. We
have come a long way. You defending Tom Brady. This
matter off just threw him. My mouth fucked this down.
What is today, March nineteenth? This is the day Rod
Perker defended Tom Brady. No, what I'm saying is whether

(06:50):
any of us liked him. I saw him in college.
I didn't think he was that guy. Uh to be
jumping up to number ten to get him? Obviously you
got him. Great, he's winner. He threw seventy two percent
of his passes he completed. He didn't have to throw
a bunch, as Rogers alluded to. When you look at
like cam Warr cam Ward through five hundred passes in
a single season alone, let alone a career. Michael Pennix
through you know, like three times that. So these quarterbacks

(07:14):
that we've been talking about that have come in with
forty stars, fifty starts. He only had a two years
a starter, but they wont him. They're all in, and
I get it. My point with this has simply been
it actually isn't a knock on Aaron Rodgers. To me,
I just thought, if this is your guy, start the clock.
Go ahead. You have Kevin O'Connell who has been proving

(07:34):
to be a great quarterback, whisper, you have a great defense,
You've got a running game, you have a long runway
with JJ McCarthy. If this is who you're god and
you believe in, so to me, why hesitate? Why cloud
the room and get it weird? And Aaron Rodgers is
there or somebody else with some baggage, some history and
taking away attention. Just starting now. He had a year
to sit and watch. He watched a great campaign from

(07:56):
Sam Darnold. He watched a really good team roll him
in and if he goes five and twelve, if he
goes four and thirteen, so did Peyton Mann. He won
like two games his first year. It happens. You start
the clock, you get things rolling. If this is the
guy you believe in, now they got to go find
a backup because guys get injured, period, That's just the
nature of the beast. So they do need to go
find a backup. But to me, the larger point was

(08:18):
the Vikings fully are sold on Jajon McCarthy, even if
I Kevin Washington wasn't roll with it. This is your guy,
start the clock. Here you go now.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
But the Peyton Manning theme doesn't work because they were
a bad team when he got there. They won fourteen games,
they were in the playoffs, okay, so they had a
certain degree of where they are. They're a team that's
ready to take the next step, win a playoff game,
make a run, So you just got to be now.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
I'm not saying that he can't.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
We saw jayde Daniels go to Detroit and beat the
Lions as a rookie quarterback, so I'm not saying that
he can't. And the other thing too, I think just
because a guy didn't throw in college doesn't mean he
can't throw. Because Jim Harbar's offense was a running offense, true, Okay,
Michigan ran the football car Okay, so that was a
lot more to do When he threw the ball. He

(09:05):
completed seventy two. He missed some, okay, but you get
my point. You can't just judge it on what system
he was in. Obviously, they had to have looked at
him and looked at when he did have to make throws.
And I'm not saying he was perfect every time people
miss throws. I just talked about Tom Brady when he
was at Michigan. He wasn't the starting quarterback. The two

(09:27):
or three other guys you know what I mean that
got playing time over Tom Brady. So all I'm saying
to you is they have to feel confident in that
what they've drafted, that he's a winner, that he won
a national championship, like they put stock in that point,
that he's their guy. But I'm saying, okay, so that's
in my defense of them going with JJ McCarthy. But

(09:50):
if you're talking about getting a veteran quarterback that you
feel could put you over the top and maybe win
and solidify you win one time Minnesota is all you
gotta win. You don't have to win three Super Bowls.
And if JJ McCarthy bumps his head or as bad
or is it ready or whatever, and you kind of

(10:11):
mess up everything that you got going, then people are
gonna start to look at the GM, look at the coach,
and then all of a sudden, what was a beautiful
It's a tough call, and you have to know that
everybody doesn't know Jane Daniels. Okay, nobody knew he was
gonna do what he did, same thing CJ. Stroud these guys.
But also the flip side is JJ McCarthy could have

(10:33):
learned from the idea that the Packers have sat their
quarterbacks three years, learned under veterans, and then those guys
have been able to blossom and still do what you
want done. So I do see why you could even
look or think about an Aaron Rodgers in this situation,
or you know, you're deciding that you're gonna go with
the guy you drafted. It's a difficult spot to be

(10:56):
in because if it doesn't work out with JJ McCarthy's
not gonna be his fault.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
No, I think. But the thing about it is going
back to the Anon Rodgers side of it. To me
that just like I don't see the I didn't see
the upside of that, when again, you have the guy
who you deem to be ready and ready to rock
and roll like that's their that's their guy. So to me,
it only makes sense. I asked Rob g Who's who
else is available? Still quarterbacks? Obviously Aaron Rodgers still out there,

(11:25):
Russell Wilson, but who else as far as backups names,
you know, Guard Minshew's still out there.

Speaker 6 (11:29):
No, he's gone, Trey Lance, Drew Locke, Now straight on
the first two. Joe Flacco, Oh, there you go, Nice,
Jameis Winston, Nice Carson Wentz, case Keenum, Teddy Bridgewater, Russell Wilson,
Desmond Ritter, Flacco.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Just as far as having a solid backup, approving guy,
super Bowl winner has had some success, even the last
couple of years. Right, I had to have some success,
got to the playoffs in Cleveland. Flaco might be the
guy that just bring in as a backup. That think
Teddy Bridgewater veteran smart guy, or Joe Flacco. Those are
the guys I'm on the phone with right now. Hello,

(12:13):
I gotta do it for you. One year, six million,
Come on out here, eight million. I don't know what
Joe Flaco might want a little bit more, but come
on out here. That's that's what I'm doing. Joe Flacoh, okay,
back up, Yeah, don't act like Flacco ain't take the
Browns to the playoffs couple of years back. Did you
see him in the playoffs? Did you see that game?
I said, take them? Okay, So just I just need
a serviceable backup, because JJ's my guy. If that, if

(12:36):
you're the Timberwolves, timber Wolves, the Viks, yeah, there you go.
That was that wasn't the fortiest slip.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
That's what they're gonna be playing like like a basketball team,
going from fourteen wins to maybe not making the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
No, I'm not gonna likely they might not make it.
I mean they gotta they know, Rob.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
The problem with that is is you're banking on the
Lions falling off. So if Minnesota falls off, doesn't that
mean the Lions have an easier schedule?

Speaker 3 (13:00):
They know, because they can still beat the Lions. They
might only went to they won those two games. You
see what I'm saying. J. J. McCarthy's gonna fall out
because Rob g I played that. Michigan is gonna beat
the Lions.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Robb G. Let me ask you who's who more. Rob
hates the Lions more. I love the Lions more? Oh,
Rob hastily exactly exactly. Hate is always stronger than love.
Everyone knows exactly. But what you don't understand.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
I covered this team for twenty years, and all I'm
saying to you is I told you what was gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
This year.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
They blew that chance to go to the super Bowl
when they were all big at the half of Sir
Francis didn't tell me they were gonna be fifteen to two.

Speaker 6 (13:40):
Yeah, Robbie, what world is a team went fifteen to
a victory?

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Lab I told you they were gonna do nothing. Told
you was decimated on the defensive side of the ball.
That ain't got nothing to do with eleven guys.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
Thirteen guys were going to ruse getting reps at free
safety in the playoff game.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
No, no, no, they're like, but see that ain't give
us six players.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
That's all we asked. They were nine and a half
point four, which were you again?

Speaker 2 (14:02):
So don't give no?

Speaker 3 (14:03):
But those players were all when Vegas gave you nine
and a half points, those eleven guys were out, okay, because.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
You told me all season long as they went to
be number one seed fifteen and two, rob come on, man,
not find it? Come on right, No, you're not mind
it ain't mine all the way to fifteen to two.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
Are the Vikings taking an unnecessary risk by putting JJ McCarthy,
by putting I should all say all their eggs in
the JJ McCarthy basketball eggs.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
Right, that's too expensive.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Yeah, that's like nine ninety nine a dozen. Right, Okay,

(16:27):
ninety nine on five Rogers isn't backing up. He's never
going to be a backup. He ain't backing it up. No,
he might be back at home then. I don't know.
He might be backing up. He about to be back
at home.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
Who we got, Scott in North Carolina? You're in the
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Scott?

Speaker 7 (16:44):
What's up? Man?

Speaker 4 (16:46):
What's up? Buddy?

Speaker 2 (16:48):
So good?

Speaker 8 (16:48):
Just busting out some wings right now?

Speaker 4 (16:50):
But Conn, what kind all flats?

Speaker 7 (16:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (16:54):
He liked to make sure he got the mixture. What
kind of wins? Scott?

Speaker 9 (17:00):
Strawberry strawberry flavor at Buffalo?

Speaker 4 (17:02):
Wait? Did you say strawberry strawberry flavored wings? He must
have said, Weed say wings, wings, strawberry flavor wings. I
don't even want to hear your take about the Vikings anymore.
You got to explain strawberry wings. Now, what of.

Speaker 8 (17:17):
Those, hey from the North Carolina?

Speaker 7 (17:19):
Yeah, they're teacher.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Right out here, strawberry wings. All right, let's hear your
Viking's sake? Where are you good? You're good with everything?

Speaker 8 (17:29):
So yeah, I mean when they picked them first round,
I mean they was gonna have to play them at sometimes,
so either you play them now or trade them.

Speaker 7 (17:36):
That was either or.

Speaker 8 (17:37):
The question really is, did they make a mistake on
not choosing Aaron Rodgers? And I don't think they did that.
One year they was going to get them. I don't
think you'd be able to duplicate what Sam Darnold did
or even better. And also with a lot of auctions
out there, they still have Kirk Cousins out there looming around.

Speaker 4 (17:53):
Did you watch Kirk Cousins last year?

Speaker 8 (17:55):
I mean, he had familiarity with the system and stuff
like that, so I get that.

Speaker 4 (17:59):
I'm just saying, but did did you see him? He
looked pretty bad?

Speaker 7 (18:01):
I did see him.

Speaker 8 (18:02):
I was watching my Eagles, all right, Kirk.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Yeah, I told you. He told you he is Kirk,
your cousin, not mine. All right? Thanks Godberry, you're a wing?
Are you in on that now?

Speaker 3 (18:14):
YEA, certain things don't match. That doesn't go together, Strawberry Wing,
I'll try it. And Sacramento, you're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Sean?

Speaker 9 (18:24):
Yeah, I'll go from another. Butther cousin kill me and
my brother's mind the board. Look, man, I started up
the car today turned on to FM one oh four
point seven and heard Fox Sports Radio Line and Sacramento
and y'all are on the am dial n A man
sounding great. I got a couple of calls today.

Speaker 7 (18:43):
Like, is that true calling it all the time?

Speaker 9 (18:45):
That's me, that's me. Reppend for sex is way before
we've been on these airways. So glad to hear y'all locally.

Speaker 5 (18:51):
But you know, I had the.

Speaker 9 (18:53):
Call today because a couple of days ago I heard
this from you, Sean, whenever I wanted.

Speaker 7 (18:59):
To sign in Minnesota.

Speaker 9 (19:00):
You called back. You called back, and you apologize to me. Well,
I'm back, I'm here.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
I don't remember that.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
When did I say that? Give me the tape you
got to tail with, Alex? We got a blank tape, right,
there's no tape tape. That's right, there's no tape on that, Sean.
I remember, Sean. I'm sitting right here, Sean.

Speaker 7 (19:19):
We will have to.

Speaker 9 (19:19):
Look through them shallow oceans to find that tape, Alex,
because I know it exists somewhere, brother, But on this tape, man, Look,
we know that that coach can basically coach up anybody.
Why waste your time on a guy like Aaron Rodgers
or any other veteran quarterback to come in and fumble
the bag. You got your guy and JJ McCarthy. They're
giving him a year to sit behind and rest and

(19:40):
get his get himself right, get himself coached.

Speaker 7 (19:42):
Uff.

Speaker 9 (19:42):
It's the best move possible for the cat and for
this team. Stick with the continuancy and prove that you
trust this young man to lead the team.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
Yeah, I don't disagree. You and Sean Strawberry Wings, are
he gone about to say? See he down with Strawberry Wings?

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Drew in New Jersey on that you're in the odd
couple of Fox boys radio?

Speaker 4 (20:00):
What's up Drew?

Speaker 10 (20:01):
Hey, guys, I think the best situation you can be
in is if you have a quarterback on a rookie deal.
And if you have a quarterback on a rookie deal,
you need to take advantage of that. Also, if he
if he is bad, well, hopefully next year it's going
to be a better draft. This year is not a
great draft. Next year you have a lot of better
prospects coming out. So if he can't play, you don't

(20:25):
have that much money tied into him. Additionally, he was
going to start last year because he already beat out
Sam Donald last year. I don't know if a lot
of people are talking about that that actually happened.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
I know there's a mixed Yeah, I've heard what you said, Drew.
I've heard what Drew said that that he did not
win that job. You know what I mean, that Sam
Donald did not win that job, that they were going
to start him before the injury.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
But yeah, I can't I've heard the same as well.
All Right, right now, we've got to find out what
is training with Monty.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk line up
up in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search
FSR to listen live.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
All right, we're joining now with Brian Geltzeiler. He is,
of course serious XIM NBA radio hosts and NBA TV
contributor b gelt NBA on XAKA Twitter. Make sure you
find them there, Brian, what's up? How you doing? Math's happening, I'm.

Speaker 7 (21:24):
Doing I'm doing good, guys that we're doing doing good?

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Man with just of course, there's so many different NBA
conversations to be had. One of the big ones right now,
you have Michael Malone come out, and of course he's
gonna support his guy right as he should. But he
talked about Jokis and he was saying, look, if I
took the names off and I just showed you the score,
that the stats and all that, you would be like, hey,
nine out of ten times, ten out of ten times,

(21:47):
you're voting for this guy. A lot of people say
that's not the case. SGA is the MVP for their vote.
Where do you come out on this right now?

Speaker 5 (21:56):
You know this is so close that I vacillate week
to week, really do last week it was Jokic. I'm
leaning back towards SGA this week, and it's crazy. It's
so close that there's crazy things that will do it
for me. So like watching Jokic in that I believe
a week ago Monday where Denver want pulling away one

(22:17):
for twenty seven and played really, really well in the
fourth quarter. Watching Okac's de collapse like that and watching
Yokics put up huge numbers like that.

Speaker 7 (22:27):
Got my attention.

Speaker 5 (22:28):
But then I turned around earlier in the week and
the Nuggets, without Jokic and without Murray they go ahead
and beat the Warriors in San Francisco. So you're like,
because one of my arguments against SGA is that they're
really good without them, and which is not fair because
he can't help that and he's been awesome. But then
I'm going to make that argument against SGA in favor

(22:50):
of Jokic, and then Denver turns around and beats the
hottest team in the league and they're building without Jokich.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Yeah, but is that an indictment of the Warriors? Seriously?
Like that They've lost before I got Jimmy Butler.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
I lost by forty points at home one game and
they and that was just a that was a terrible
loss all the way around, with three starters missing from Denver.
That's if I'm Steve Kerr or I'm the Warriors, that
loss would bother me.

Speaker 5 (23:17):
Oh. I think it bothered him tremendously. But I also
think we have to be fair about it. It's a
different Warriors team. Jimmy Butler has completely changed the calculus
of that team. He has given them a presence on
both ends of the floor that they desperately needed. He's
created a lot of space for Curry. Him and Draymond
have fit in seamlessly together. It's a different look, right,
now and they have coming to back now. So it's

(23:39):
a very very good win for Denver.

Speaker 7 (23:41):
I hear what you're saying.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
It was a big hiccup for the Warriors, and I'm
quite sure Steve Kerr was very very.

Speaker 7 (23:46):
Unhappy with that loss.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
But the Warriors on a hole, have played great basketball here.
But it does show you is that as we get
towards the playoffs, the Warriors are going to struggle against
teams that have a lot of quality size because that's
the one spot where they're weak, and that's one spot
where just about everybody else they're competing with the conference
is strong.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Where are you on the Lakers?

Speaker 3 (24:05):
You know, they had to run a nice winning streak
and then Lebron got heard. We've seen Luca the good
and the bad, and obviously the Lakers have lost a
few games of late, but it's starting to win a game.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
But just where are you on the Lakers?

Speaker 3 (24:22):
You know a lot of people got excited when they
first got Luca and thought that maybe they're going to
the Western Conference finals, and a lot of people are saying,
pump the brakes on that. I'm pumping the breaks, but
I want to know where you're going.

Speaker 5 (24:34):
Well, listen, I think there's somewhere between where they were
in the Western Conference Finals right now right for if
they're going to do anything in terms of advancing to
a conference final, you're going to need Lebron healthy. You know,
it's all looking nice with Adam here for a little while.
You need all hands on deck and you're gonna need
Lebron healthy. But I will tell you what has been
the phenomenon with them that has that has really remained

(24:57):
after the trade and we're good right now six week,
five weeks. They have to the trade to throw the
All Star breakout. The thing that has remained is the defense.
The defense has been tremendous. Dorrif Finney Smith has played
excellent defensively, Luca has played pretty well defensively, and he's
a guy, it's not a strong defensive player. The unsung hero,
there's Jackson Hayes who's played.

Speaker 7 (25:17):
Great for them.

Speaker 5 (25:17):
You know, they bailed on the Mark Williams trade because
he wasn't totally healthy, and you know, Charlotte knew it.
They knew it, but they didn't want to take the
chance after examining them, and they hung their hat on
Jackson Hayes.

Speaker 7 (25:28):
He's played terrific for them.

Speaker 5 (25:29):
So when I look at the Lakers on a hole,
all hands on deck, they can absolutely go to a
conference final. They're going to have to have the matchups
fall right, and that's going to be something that's going
to be in true. I like the way they match up.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
With the Warriors. You know, I'm not.

Speaker 5 (25:43):
The One thing I will tell you is I think
the Lakers, whether it's the Rockets, the Grizzlies, one of
those two young teams, I think they wouldn't struggle with
either of them in a series.

Speaker 7 (25:52):
You worry about them against.

Speaker 5 (25:53):
The Thunder, you obviously worry about them and the Yolkis
matchup against the Nuggets.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
He is Brian geilt Zeiler. Of course, he is NBA
radio host and NBA TV contributor. All with the Akaba
Robin Kelvin on a worship Wednesday. You know there's stories
everybody's like, oh, you know, you're not covering the league.
You're not talking about the big team, You're not talking
about KC, You're not talking about Cleveland and maybe some
other storylines. What's the storyline to you? You but you
cover this, you watch you talk about it that you

(26:19):
feel like maybe isn't getting enough love. Is there a team?
Is there a guy who's playing that well that you
would say, hey, we gotta sign a light a little
bit more on this team or this player.

Speaker 7 (26:27):
I'm going to give you two teams.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
The first team I'm going to give you is the
Indiana Pacers, who have you know, they had a really
bad start. They're in the four seed right now in
the Eastern Conference, and they got a one game lead
over Milwaukee, in a two game lead over Detroit. They're
playing better than both those teams, as great as Detroit
has played.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
They right now in a two game lead Indiana.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Keep in mind they had two backup bigs that they
have one back the one backup thing Isaiah Jackson. They
brought in another backup big and James Wiseman, and both
of those guys go after the year. They make a
trade for Thomas Bryant. They kind of figure it out
on the fly.

Speaker 7 (27:04):
They're very deep.

Speaker 5 (27:05):
Siakam is having the best year no one's talking about.
They are really good teams. They're really well coached. You
saw the beat Milwaukee on that football style play last
week on the Halliburton four point play. Rick Carliles as
good a coach as anybody.

Speaker 7 (27:18):
In the league. Indiana is a team to keep an
eye on.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
And the one in the West that's been playing great
latelies in Minnesota Timberwolves, who have all of a sudden
when Randall came back, he looks like a different guy.
The balls moving out of his hands much quicker. He
seems more comfortable. They desperately need Dante Divincenzo's three point
shooting on that team. He's been back, He's played well.
Jada McDaniels carried them really well for the time that

(27:41):
those guys were out. Nas Reed has taken a step
up in his game. This is a deep, talented team,
and they can.

Speaker 7 (27:49):
Score and they can guard. And you saw them.

Speaker 5 (27:51):
They went into Denver last week and beat the Nuggets
by twenty.

Speaker 7 (27:54):
This is a tough team. So you look at those
two teams.

Speaker 5 (27:56):
Would not surprise me is either of those two teams
themselves in one form or another in a conference final.
Maybe Indiana would surprise me a little more than Minnesota,
just because of the presence of Boston and Cleveland, but
with only one truly dominant team in the West right
now and Oka see, I wouldn't be surprised at all
if Minnesota ends up back in the conference final.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
How about the Knicks. Have you soured on the Knicks
at all? And where they are?

Speaker 3 (28:18):
I'm kind of like you want more oft Yeah, I'm
like in the middle. Like last year had a good run,
they got hurt Nidian and lost to Indiana game seven, right,
good teams, Yeah, but now they just there's something that
feels like it's missing. Am I missing something?

Speaker 7 (28:34):
No, there's something very very well there.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
That's a situation where they'd like you to think the
chemistry is very good between everybody, but the chemistry is
not very good between everybody. There's a lot of backbiting
and sniping.

Speaker 7 (28:47):
You know.

Speaker 5 (28:47):
Michale Bridges had to be pretty damn unhappy. And by
the way, guys, he's the only one out of that
starting five that hasn't gotten paid yet and hasn't gotten
his contract extension. So you just keep that in mind
as you're watching Usage move away from him and Jalen
Brunson dribble out possessions and Bridges standing in the corner.
He hasn't gotten paid yet, and that's inspite of the
fact that Brunson took lets for him to get paid,

(29:08):
so he speaks out against Tom Thibodeaux in minutes, the
guy that's leading the league in minutes speaks out against
Tom Thibodau in minutes, and worse than that, does it
on behalf of the bench and throws Tom under the
bus with these bench guys. Listen, if these bench guys
could win games at all, Tom a plan. But Tom's
trying to win basketball games, and maybe Tom's got to
be a little more discrestionary with how he divides minutes up.

(29:30):
But it's hard for him to do that when you
don't give him a good bench, And that's part of
the issue. Now, the Knicks have put a lot of
money into starting five. They have Mitchell Robinson there. I
have it on good authority that they entertained trading Robinson
at the deadline and bringing somebody else in for that contract.
And Tom wanted Robinson to stay because he believes Robinson

(29:51):
is the path to being an elite defensive team. Here's
what's interesting about the Knicks. Nick's rapoor defensively with Jalen Brunson.

Speaker 7 (29:57):
Brunston gets hurt. Now in the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 5 (29:59):
They're not a good offense, I believe, which you would figure.
But they're much better defensively with Duce McBride in the line,
and that's something you got to keep an eye on. Listen,
there's an old adage you guys in the NBA when
it comes into the playoffs, you can hide one bad defender,
it's really hard to hide two. The Knicks have a
bad defender in the middle of Karl Anthony Towns, and
they have three really good perimeter guys in Ananobie, Bridges

(30:22):
and Heart that are out there covering for them. But
having a cover for Brunson makes it a lot harder
get it. And then not that McBride's the greatest defensive
player in.

Speaker 7 (30:30):
The world, but he's a decent defensive player.

Speaker 5 (30:32):
You put him on the floor that they don't have
to cover for him, the defense got tougher. They lost
the game Saturday night to the Warriors, where their defense
was fantastic. It had everything to do with the fact
that they didn't execute well down the stretched Towns, took
a couple of bad shots, had a bad turnover late.
It was all their offense. It's a weird vibe there
right now, and I'm curious to see how Tom Shibodaux navigates.

Speaker 7 (30:52):
Keep one other thing in mind.

Speaker 5 (30:53):
As I tell you. If those chemistry is coming on wham.
You saw Phibodeau and Josh Hart for TV cameras to
see going at it good. And those guys are supposed
to have a really good relationship.

Speaker 7 (31:01):
Some things are going bad. And I will tell you this.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
With the Knicks, we could see some changes. If they
don't get out of the first round, or even if
they don't get out of the second round, that will
be the third consecutive second round exit not being able
to advance to a conference final.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
It's gonna be.

Speaker 5 (31:15):
Very interesting to see what happens there with the roster
and potentially with the head coach.

Speaker 4 (31:19):

that it is easy for me.

Speaker 4 (33:28):

Speaker 4 (33:41):
I'm afraid that one day I'm gonna wake up.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
And someone's gonna be standing over me wearing that mask.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
I live with that fear every day, and you just
told everybody to there's a rap by the side of
you right there. He literally jumps, Gosh, I'm dead. I'm
dead serious. We know, So why do you even buy cloud?
I'm out with the KILLO Crime a couple of minutes.

You better not say so. We have Stars Born.

Speaker 6 (34:21):
Scarface, Oceans eleven, and Star Is Born.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
It a heat Ocean eleven that sounds like a I want.

Speaker 6 (34:27):
To lean towards heat.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
I just haven't seen it in soul that I like.
I feel like if I really loved it, I would
have watched it in recent times. And I haven't you
know what that Sinatra?

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Yeah, I just you guys.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
For me, it's like, I don't I've seen it and
I don't remember it at all. That's one of them
that can't go.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
I'm sorry, all right.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
Do you want me to go? All right? He can't go.
Scarface ain't going nowhere.

Speaker 8 (34:50):
I agree.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
Stars Born were surprisingly good. I didn't expect that was like,
I don't liked it. Yeah, I didn't see the original
back and back in the back and back in the
day Ocean's eleven. Come on, I was like a eerviic fun.
Just it's on T n T. You're gonna give it
some time. Movies get he ain't going nowhere? Dagging? Is it? It?
Ain't it? So here's the thing. It looks like a

(35:13):
good movie, but I'm not into the horror film. That's
gotta be racial. So you're not in the horror film?

Speaker 6 (35:18):
Are y'all saying black people don't like scary movies?

Speaker 4 (35:20):
Elijah likes to Please save us, Elijah, you like you

he said, All the options are so it is out
with a lot.

Speaker 8 (35:31):

Speaker 4 (35:31):
Maybe this room it's all the brothers in this side

(35:53):

it's really good that some metaphors it is for life
is like the game of the music industry. No like,
I don't like any of Lady Gaga's music. I don't

how all right, he's good in Las Vegas, whatever it was.

Speaker 6 (36:10):

history of accents.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
We know about it that.

Speaker 6 (36:29):
Everybody thinks they're a thug when they watched Garface. When
