still to get to, including some MBA and of course
last call your chance to get in if you weren't
able to get in for any other topics Earlier in

(01:13):
the program, but interesting conversation Doc Rivers coaching the Milwaukee
Bucks had with Mark Spears from ESPN and Andscape. Yep,
and yeah I read that.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
Yeah, so he was talking as you just mentioned to
Mark Spears do the outlet of Vandscape, and he brought
up something that was gonna catch you by for surprise.
So he goes on to say, talking about the fact
that he's been known for giving up some of those
three one leads in series, he says, it is what
it is, Rob, It's part of my legacy. And he
goes on to say, there's nothing I can do about it.

(01:48):
I got a team that was an eight seed up
to three and one that's coaching that is not bad coaching.
The one with the Clippers that's the only one that
got away. But people don't realize. Chris Paul goes on
to talk about he was injured and all that, but
he says, no one tells a real story, and I'm
fine with that. It's unfair in some ways. I don't
get enough credit for getting three wins. Let me reread
this please. I'm just gonna make sure you're heard. I

(02:09):
gotta go, I gotta go. You look at this this thing.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
I gotta go.

Speaker 5 (02:13):
Rob Parker on this one, he said, I don't get
enough credit for getting the three wins in those three
one series blowing leads. I get credit for losing and
I always say, what if we had lost to Houston
in six? No one cares. What are the things that
I'm proud of is we've never been swept. All the
coaches have been swept.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
In the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
My team's achieved and a lot of them overachieve, and
I'm very proud of that. Rob Parker, what's your response
to my conversation with Mark Spears.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
I'm Duck Rivers.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Now I see what a problem is. He actually thinks
he's achieved something by giving up a three to one lead.
He's lost more three to one leads than any coach
in NBA history. Doc, Come on, man, you're better than that.
You want a championship in Boston. It ain't about winning
three games. You gotta win four to move on. It's okay.

(03:09):
It ain't like you never won. You did win with
the Celtics. You won a championship. They don't tell you
the whole story.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
It can't be like that if we're gonna give you
credit when you had Garnet, Pierce and Allen and you win, right,
you win.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
We give you credit for winning that championship, and when
you lose, you can't be like well, players, done went wrong. No,
you get credit when you win, and you get blamed
when you lose.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Doc, you can't what.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
It's mind boggling that you would even touch that or
even deal with that. It is what it is. Your
record is what your record says it is. There's no if,
ans or butts at it. I've said this some million times,
Doc Rivers, is this on for you? Sports as a

(04:09):
short menu wins and losses and guess what, You've had
some of the worst losses to lose series. It's fact.
It's just fact. Does that mean you can't coach? You
want a championship? Everybody can't say that. A lot of

(04:30):
coaches would die give their right on for a championship.
You have that, you would have been better off not
touching that, trying to pacify or whitewash or whatever word
you want to use to try to soften the blow
and change people's minds.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
You made a mistake by even opening that can of worms.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Not only were worms in there, there was a dead
rat in that as well, and you just went running, you.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Know I did, all right?

Speaker 5 (05:00):
That was so disappointing to hear from Doc. Grossly disappointing
to hear from Doc, especially a guy who played with
some of the toughest competitors, a guy like a Paul Piers,
a guy like a Kevin Garnet. Kevin Garnet, you know,
he's a live so I don't want to say rolling
around and great, but Kevin Garnet is rolling around in
Chicago somewhere, or La out here, Melibu, wherever he lives.

(05:21):
Listening to that because that was surprisingly a I lose
three to one lead response. That's what that sounded like
a person who lose three to one leads. Because to me,
this was a chance Rob to actually address those three
to one leads that he lost and say, man, do
I want some of those back?

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Man? Is a disappointing and yo, I got to own
some of that.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
But you guess what the best part about it is,
there's Tomorrow and his Bucks team. We're gonna fight through
and you know what I mean, progressive forward. We're gonna
try to win this year, and we got a better
team next year.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
We're gonna get to.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Look back and next says if we're all missing it
because you won three Kobe Bryant, God bless it dead.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
You know what he said, Rob, Job's not finished, right,
go be brianonbout three to one. Job's not finished.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Remember they were up three to one against the Suns
and lost that series.

Speaker 5 (06:10):
You remember that Musch Parker jobs. I want to know,
Job's not done. So you to say, well, at least
we got up three. At least we got three wins.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
And the brag about never being swept, How is that that's.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
Disappointing from somebody who has a championship on the resume. Yeah,
that's a chance. That's from a coach who hasn't won anything.
And I have to highlight something, right, I gotta find something.
No rummers into paper. I've never been swept. You got
a championship, you went back to the finals and if
ronar test at the time medalworld piece doesn't make a shot,

(06:46):
maybe you win back. You know, you win two championships.
You don't have to go down tunnels that at least
I won three. At least I was never swept. And
you want to know what else, robbed Let me tell
you about coaching. You know what coaching is when you
look at a situation sometimes and you say, man, Chris
Paul is banged up. Let's find a way to go

(07:07):
through Blake. Let's find a way to go through Jamal
Crawford or DeAndre Jordan. Let's outscheme them tonight. We're gonna
shoot nothing but threes.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
Tonight.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
We're not gonna shoot any threes. My point is, you
scheme your way. That's coaching. Coaching isn't when I have
the best players all the time and it's easy. Coaching
is how do we figure this thing out when it's
not easy. How do I get this guy who's been
playing only twelve minutes a game to all of a
sudden have a great game so we can get this
one more victory. Coaching is when you say, hey, man,

(07:36):
I know you've been doing this. I need a little
bit more out of you tonight so we can secure
this series. So to me, those are some of the
greatest coaching jobs. When you find a way when it
wasn't easy, when your guys are nicked up, when guys
are tired, when guys are banged up, when another team's
thought to have figured you out, and you figure out
another scheme another way. That's great coaching. Rob up three

(08:00):
and to go at least I won the three.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
At least I won't swept. I mean that's I mean
that's rob.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
That's like my wife coming home and saying, Hey, why
are they evicting us?

Speaker 4 (08:09):
And I say, well, at least I played the mortgage right.
I paid ninety percent of it.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
No, you gotta pay the entire amount, and you got
to win four games to advance or to win a championship.
Want to get to the championship or whatever it is.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
I've read this. I was blown away that he said this.
It doesn't make sense. Does it make sense.

Speaker 5 (08:28):
For somebody who played the league and won a champion
want a championship, play with some of the hard nosed players,
coach some of the hard nosed players, Rondo.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
You think Rondo would say something like that.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
I've never heard anybody say that. I'm dead serious, And
I guess they were.

Speaker 5 (08:42):
Like kids, we have to come up with something, you know, like,
at least I did this. I just I find at
least I don't eat. I find out to be crazy
to even put that out there. At least, and you
don't know the whole and the whole story hasn't been told.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
What what's the whole story? What are we leaving out?
I don't know what Mark would said. I would have said,
what what story? Would that be what's being left out right?

Speaker 5 (09:05):
You are a good coach who had a chance to
be great if you won some of those.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Series, not every single one, but and you're a.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
Very likable guy, which is the reason why Doc keeps
getting job. He lives on this. He'll get a TV job.
If he gets out of TV after a few years
on television, he's going to get a coaching job. There's
something to being liked. Doc's very likable. People like Doc,
so he'll keep a job no matter what he's he's gonna,
you know, most teams he's on the win games. He's
never gonna necessarily suck with his team. But he has

(09:35):
underwhelmed at times. Several times. He underwhelmed with the Sixers.
He's underwhelming right now with the with the Bucks.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
With the Clippers up three to one, that was the
bad one against themver you remember that there are three
to one. Kawhi was healthy, Paul George was healthy. That
team right, that team was there. And when he did
win in Boston, what do he have?

Speaker 5 (09:56):
Three Hall of famers and a young rookie that we
were like, oh, this boy is good in Rondo and
I don't fault him for that. Because that doesn't bother
me in that Phil Jackson had absurd teams.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
No no, no, no, like you know, but my point is,
but that's the only one you got.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Is That's why I'm saying to me, he would have
really proven himself and not again he's a good coach,
but to be a very good or great coach if
he would have said, remember that series when Chris Paul
was banged up, but we've schemed up away.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
We found a way.

Speaker 5 (10:26):
We played a zone defense because we know he couldn't
guard right now or we you know what we did.
We decided to uh to use Chris as a decoy
and we got another guy, JJ Redick was we got
him hot and got him you know he shot and
made ten thres like there are so many ways to
me showcase all that is how you coached up some
good things. That's how you scheme the idea of just

(10:47):
winning three and not finishing the job. That becomes disappointing
because you had three more opportunities to simply win one
more game.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
And you didn't. So how is that? How's that a
How's that a qualify? How is that a good thing?

Speaker 6 (10:59):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (10:59):
I three more chances to win one game, and I
did multiple times. I'm really I was disappointed Doc from
that because he's too he's too he's been a basketball lifer.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
He I wouldn't the idea of not closing the deal
or finishing the job. And if he would have just said,
you know what, I've had some bad breaks. I would
like to have closed out two or three more of
those would have been the greatest thing in my career.
And that's the thing that that that I think is
missing in my career is that I didn't get.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
A chance to get another one. That I don't think
anybody would be mad.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
Because nobody wins. I mean, Steve is going to go
to the Hall of Fame as a coach, and Steve
Curry he only want to lose three to one in
the finals. So my point is that that's on his record.
That's on his record. But again he did. He he
has come back from some of those. Remember when the
year before they won uh ok S was up three
to one. They came back. So Steve Kirk and said, hey,
you know, I've been on both sides. Did I understand

(11:54):
what it's like boom boom boom or not yet? Before
the same year, my bad. But you get what I'm saying.

Speaker 7 (12:00):
Man.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
So I was blown away by that from Doc.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
I just would have never the first sentence or two
was like, okay, it's not the full story. I get that,
all right, but to say hey, at least I never
got swept, or to say hey, at least I got
up to three.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Come on, Doc, next time. My start is clean up
your room, all right, we want to hear from you.
Eight seven the roommate clean, but I made my bed
eight seven, seven nine nine, six sixty three sixty nine.
I want to hear from you, Doc Rivers. At least
he won three?

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Are you buying.

Speaker 8 (12:31):
Five?

Speaker 4 (12:32):
I don't even know.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
I mean, it reminds me of Tracy McGrady said when
they bight and he said it was at least he
said to that one, he said, at least we were
an eight seed and we won some games.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
You hear that. I remember that at least we were
eight seed and we won some games. Time out Pistons
in a series, you can't do that.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
And I remember that one with Tracy McGrady that was
a Detroit and he said, it's great to move to
the second round. And then they were like they went
for you know, they changed the it's the best of
seven this year.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Last year was the best of five.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
And he was like, and we had him one yeh
And he was like, Rob, you can't prove I said
that you got Do you have tape for that? Because
nobody recorded? Was like, right, so nobody, he said. I
I don't think I said that. I said you got
tape because that that's what But he did say it.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
He did. I was living there.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
I remember was like, oh really yeah, just moving, okay, okay,
and came right back.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
Age seven, seven ninety nine on Fox It is The
Odd Couple.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Rob Parker Kelvin Washington on a trash talking Tuesday went
in from you right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Stick and stay. But like unless like I actually am
doing my job. I showed up to work in the
US event.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
You know, that's it. You just showed up. You ain't
doing your job, but you showed up here.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
At least I showed up.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
App Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (14:03):
Odd Couple Robin Kelvin on a trash talking Tuesday, we
got Adam Kaplan getting ready to join us NFL Insider
and just a little bit about eight minutes or so,
by the way, right after the show, our podcast goes up,
and if you miss it in today's show, be sure
to listen to the podcast. All you got to do
is search our couple wherever you get your podcasts, and
be sure to follow and review the podcast rated five stars. Again,

(14:26):
just search Odd Couple wherever you get your podcasts, and
you'll find today's show and the best of version. Post
it right after we get off the air. We're just
both disappointed in doc rivers if you just joined, and
it basically said we all need to shut up, grow up.
So what if he lost three to one leads. At
least he won the three games. At least he's never
been blown.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
He's lost the most three one leads of any coach
in NBA history, and like he did it once.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
And he actually is kind of can't believe that we
make a big deal of it.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
It is a big deal to Robin.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
I can't believe he said that, And I was disappointed
considering he's a champion. He understands that, like Kobe once said,
John's not finished. Being up three one ain't enough. You
gotta win it, no doubt. All right, Chili Chim in Atlanta.
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Chili?

Speaker 6 (15:08):
What up?

Speaker 7 (15:09):
Kevin? Oh? Yeah, Man, Hey, Rob, Thank Kevin. I'm gonna
get to the Doc Rivers second. But Rob, I was
talking to some other baseball kind of dad and stuff
when we were talking about and I look to see
you maybe address this.

Speaker 9 (15:21):
On this show.

Speaker 7 (15:23):
We were saying, like, where are like when we were
coming up, we had you know, the Doc Goodies, Barrybond, Strawberries,
Tony Gwyn's, Kirby Puckets, you know, just who can name
in quite a few. But like we don't have those
guys anymore for our sons and grandsons to look up
to and maybe address that. Maybe you know, see what
you think about that. That's the subject that all right.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
There's some players, definitely, yeah, definitely, please tell them to
check out our website mlbbro dot com. That's all we
do is cover black and brown Major leaguers and there
are plenty and names and people.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
Hunter Greed, the Cincinnati Rest.

Speaker 7 (15:58):
Yeah, you don't know what the browns we want.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
No, no, no, no no.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
When I say black and brown, I'm talking about mixed
with black, not as fat player.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
Okay, Okay, go ahead, Doc Rivers.

Speaker 7 (16:10):
So my thing with Doc Rivers is I'm sure Tyry
lewis somewhere laughing, like dude. I had a team that
I took the Western Coveras Finals that was held together
by glue. We lost Kawhi and we were just a
few plays away from getting to the NBA Finals. That's overachieving,
no doubt. You did not overachieve, TYLERU overachieved with what
he had with the Clippers, fighting with Kawhi not being healthy,

(16:30):
Paul George. No, he's achieved a whole lot more with
the Clippers than you ever did with those stars you had.
So maybe he needs to go coach, you know, teams
like the Pelicans or somewhere that if he does make
the playoffs or something, he can say, yeah, you know,
I overachieve and he can pat his ships. He needs
to quit coaching a high profile teams, and maybe they
need to quit giving him these high profile gigs and

(16:52):
he can really go somewhere and say he overachieved, because no, Doc,
you're not overachieving with these teams, with these star players
you have, And I'm disappointed. And I don't know, I
think he just become a mediocre culture or whatever his
situation is. But nah, dude, you don't get.

Speaker 8 (17:08):
That kind of pass.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
All right, it's ridiculous. I'm blown away by that.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Actually, Eric in Texas, you're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
What's up? E?

Speaker 6 (17:18):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (17:18):
Wrong?

Speaker 10 (17:18):
What up telling? How you guys do it?

Speaker 4 (17:20):
What up?

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Man?

Speaker 4 (17:20):
We're going good? Brother?

Speaker 10 (17:23):
I'm look, I got to pickyback on what he said
real quick.

Speaker 7 (17:26):
Number one.

Speaker 10 (17:27):
First off, Doc Rivers, let's not forget Doc Grifvers was
responsible for the Cuippers collapse, just in terms of culture.
He laid quiet apology and running buck and run the
franchise into the ground.

Speaker 6 (17:38):
Dag here right, yeah.

Speaker 10 (17:39):
Second of all, Second of all, when he was in Philly,
he wants to talk about all this and that. Bro,
why didn't you tell if you're such a good coach,
why didn't you tell you all of them be to
stop jacking up three if they get in the low post,
they would have won the therapy if you would have
done that.

Speaker 11 (17:53):
And and this.

Speaker 10 (17:55):
Man stole the job from Adrian Griffin when he was
doing great with the buck right, Doc revers times passive
and I'm sorry, and se Tim is right. He needs
the code like the Charlotte Hornet or the USAH Jazz
or something. I've seen him that he can build it
up and then they can find the next coach and
leave him the chip because he can't do it no more.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
All right, appreciate you.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
Making the playoffs will be like, Wow, the Jazz made
the playoffs. Wow, you know, look at the Hornets. Wow,
Because yeah, he's getting the high for these star players
and where we have high expectations and Mead and Giannis
and Chris Paul and Blake back in the day.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
Hey, CP in Virginia, you're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up?

Speaker 11 (18:34):
Hey, A tie is like kissing your sister. But according
to Heel the Washington losing a series with a three
to one lead is like eating your boogers.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
Okay, dude, you get what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
Come on now, you can't be up three to one,
you know, and they want some credit.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
CP.

Speaker 11 (18:53):
No, I think I think that goes right next to
your time.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Is like kissing your sisters.

Speaker 11 (18:57):
Let's let's write it down.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
And use it right. Oh man, I can't you listen?

Speaker 5 (19:02):
Man, my daughter's no good will if I tell him
clean that room and I come in and stuff all
over the floor. They didn't do anything else, Dan, get
the room ain't clean just cause you made your bed.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
No doubt.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Thanks, CP, appreciate it. Dion did Dion in Texas? You'r
hony yard couple of Fox once wait, I had no
comment on that.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
What's up?

Speaker 11 (19:21):
Hey?

Speaker 7 (19:21):
What's up?

Speaker 11 (19:21):
Robert? How are you doing? Calvin?

Speaker 6 (19:23):
Hey? Guys?

Speaker 11 (19:23):
Look, no, Hey, shame on Doc. They should have beat Kobe.
They should have beat that team twice. Uh he go
one and one. He kept Lebron out the finals of
a couple of years in Cleveland when he was over there.
Uh so they kept him out. He's he has a
good resume all the to do his own it. Hey,
things happen. I beat Kobe, I beat I kept Lebron out.

(19:44):
I got a decent resume. But guess what I fell
short a couple of times. You don't win every time?

Speaker 5 (19:49):
Perfect? And that's all you be his pr person? Yes,
now a lot that the rest to his wife. You
know a girlrid like he can you know, you can't
just your experience that out.

Speaker 11 (20:00):
That's it. Absolutely, And then he was the best team
in LA with Lop City all those years, and uh
he's in. Oh lastly, Adrian Griffin, that's right, took hover
for hreim. I think they fired Adrian when he was
like thirty and thirteen, the second.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
Best record I think in the league at the time.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
That was they honest thing by the way, that was
that was clearly has not.

Speaker 11 (20:20):
Been that good since he hadn't duplicated that yet. Thanks, guys,
I'll have.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
A going I apprepreciate you, Dion Man no great stuff,
great stuff. Yeah, well, I think we're all in agreement
that that was a my mind boggling here, Doc say
that we got Adam Kaplan coming up on the other side.
So much NFL news, so it's all, yeah, we're like, man,
not a lot of NFL stuff. And then, boy, were
we wrong. Steve is trending right now with Steven Sager
and you.

Speaker 12 (20:41):
Guys who are mentioning baseball Mookie Betts. Don't your short
stuff is back on the field tonight for them. Grounded
out his first to bet he.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
Looked I know he looks thinner, but did you look.
I didn't see the first time, you didn't see it?

Speaker 5 (20:52):
Okay, you round? And the third Justine said, yeah, look fine, Okay.

Speaker 12 (20:56):
Will Smith has just hit a two run homers.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
Thank God that that Mookie's back there. I was one worried.

Speaker 12 (21:01):
Yeah, after the illness and the effects of it. And
again the illness existed in Arizona at spring training before
the ever got on the flight to Japan, and he
missed all four games, the two exhibitions and the two
against the Cubs they played overseas. This, by the way,
this exhibition at Anaheim ends the preseason for Major League Baseball.
Dodgers up to nothing in the second opening day is Thursday.

(21:23):
The Mookie Bets update. After things were so bad the
last couple of weeks health wise, Monday, he was able
to finally keep some solid food down. The Mariners gave
catcher Cal Rawley a six year extension. Outfielder Cam Smith
made the Houston roster less than a year after being
drafted in the first round by the Caps, so he
hit about three point forty in spring Congratulations. Cam Smith

(21:44):
and a reliever Ryan Johnson made the Angels roster drafted
in the second round last summer. He's never pitched in
the miners at all. Arizona pitcher Jordan Montgomery will have
Tommy John surgery. Veteran lefty eraldas Chapman will start the
season as the Red Sox closer. Stanford fired football coach
Troy Taylor. The New York Giants are giving quarterback Russell
Wilson a one year deal, pending a physical. The Patriots

(22:07):
are signing wide receiver Stefan Diggs. The NFL's Competition Committee,
to try to promote more kickoff returns, will likely propose
the touchbacks would put the ball at the thirty five
yard line, not the thirty. In the NBA, we already
have two finals tonight, Detroit without Caid Cunningham at again
with a sore calf whip San Antonio one twenty two
to ninety six. Piston's halftime lead was sixty to thirty four.

(22:31):
Orlando has just won at Charlotte one eleven two, one
oh four. Still a big lead for the Rockets in Houston.
Early third quarter. Rockets up on Atlanta seventy to fifty three.
Golden State well, believe it or not, their starters combined
for only ten points in the first half tonight that
included Jimmy Butler back in Miami. Now, Butler is up

(22:52):
to eleven points as the game is early fourth quarter,
but Miami is still leading double digits over Golden State
eighty seven to seven in the fourth six minutes to go.
At New York, it's now nixt one ten ninety two
over Dallas. Saint Francis, which just played in basketball's first
four says it will move all of its athletic programs
to Division III in twenty twenty six. The men's NIT

(23:15):
Tournament quarterfinals started tonight. Chattanooga wins sixty seven sixty five
at Bradley And we mentioned earlier in the show the
NBA item from Milwaukee, Damian Lillard, who was already going
to be out tomorrow with a calf injury. It's a
blood clot in the calf, so he's out indefinitely. You
can't be in a contact sport on Bloodthinter's back to you.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
Thank you, Steve, have a great night, brother. We appreciat it, yep.
And Cam Smith huh an MLB bro made it. That's unbelievable.
That's unbelievable. Yeah, less than a year and is he
the starting thar basement or he's all just.

Speaker 12 (23:45):
Going to push him to the outfield to get him
some time.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
Okay, I was gonna say, wow, it's pretty amazing. Hey,
we already at couple. Thank you Steve Comedy Live Fortyreck
dot Com Studios on a trash Talking Tuesday, and we're
joined now by Adam Kafley Man of course.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Fox Sports Radio NFL insider.

Speaker 5 (24:03):
Adam Man thought it was a slow day today, not
too much and out the blue literally as we start
our show four pm or here on the West Coast,
boom breaking news, the Russell Wilson store, boom Stefan dieing.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
So we'll start with the Russell Wilson.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
One year twenty mel but ten ten and a half
guarantee going to the Giants.

Speaker 9 (24:22):
Your thoughts, Yeah, look, he'll be the starting quarterback. I
mean that's that's the expectation. Jameis Winston will be the backup.
Now what's gonna be fascinating, guys, is they pick it three.
The Giants do, and they've got a general manager who's
you know, he's on a contract and he's still there.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
But when you look at their situation, they need a
quarterback of the future.

Speaker 9 (24:46):
But you have a quarter you have a general manager
and a head coach or fighting for their jobs. So
I'm fascinating to see what happens to Brian Dable and
Joe Shane the general the general manager, and Brian Dable
the head coach, if they're just trying to save their
jobs to go with Russell Wilson as a starter and
passing sure to or Sanders let's say at number three,
because they don't either and they don't think he's good

(25:07):
enough or b they think he's good enough, but they're
trying to win, so they're going to go with another
position so they can get immediate help. That's they got
to be careful with that. So that's something to keep
an eye on as we go for here. Now with
Russell Wilson in, he gives him a better shot. Look,
the quarterback play was dreadful last season. Now, in my
reporting on Russell Wilson's situation with Pittsburgh, and I've been

(25:28):
quoted a lot last couple of months, so let me
just explain this. So what I put out was that
Arthur Smith, the offense coordinator, wanted a bench Russell. He
was told last season he couldn't do that. He was
overruled by Mike Tomlin. Tomlin, it's his call and he
he had to play Russell Wilson at the end of
the season. You know how he collapsed there for a
really good middle of the season. Now they kept Russell

(25:50):
guys as Steelers did on their list.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
But way down on it.

Speaker 9 (25:55):
If the Rogers thing collapse, which is not going, it's
just a matter of if just Rogers want to play for
them or not, he'll be the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
Robbers.

Speaker 9 (26:02):
I sent it back to you, But they ran out
of options here and they want Rogers badly. They really
didn't run Russell Wilson back. A lot of people there,
but they had to have a quarterback. I could tell
you that they believe that they're going to make a run.
The Steelers really believe they can make a run the season.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
And I've been saying this. I think you're spot on
on the Giant situation about the coach and the general
manager trying to save their gigs. You know what I mean,
They're in trouble. I know it's a bad spot to
be in, but also you know they need to get
that team. That team has been so bad at them,
you know, like they got to get some sort of

(26:38):
sense of the franchise back on the right access because Axel,
I guess is what I was trying to say, they
have been so bad. Who's the other running back? I
mean a wide receiver who got signed today? I'm the
big Stefan Diggs got a deal twenty six million guaranteed.

Speaker 4 (26:56):
They said it was sixty to sixty nine. Come on,
do them like, but you know, well, we'll see what
the real money.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
We don't know.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
I was like, that's real money.

Speaker 9 (27:04):
I don't believe the guarant Listen, he's coming off with
twenty acl. He's a he's a declining player. I know
they have coaches on that staff who worked with him before.
He's Here's this is what I'll tell you about Dixs.
He's a very competitive player. They've got a quarterback in
Drake May who they think it's got a chance.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
To be really good.

Speaker 9 (27:22):
He's very, very gifted. But man, Stefan Dicks is coming
off a major knee injury. I I just I think
I think there, I think that the Patriots are reaching
here a little bit. I I just don't I get
why they're doing it. Because they want someone to help
him and and and dis is a really good possession receiver.
But folks, he's not. He's not the same player as

(27:44):
he once was, and we have to understand that.

Speaker 5 (27:46):
Yeah, I mean, but you feel like Drake may Is,
he's your future. Maybe you need obviously a weapon. Maybe
dig still has a little bit in the tank and
he's not. I mean, you you know better than I.
But it doesn't seem like it's crazy money, especially when
you're throwing out sixty nine if it ends up being
just a twenty six. So maybe he has something to prove,
because you're right, he's been coming off injuries and you
don't want to get back to at least eighty percent

(28:07):
of what he used to be with the Bills. Adam
Kaplan our guests now, So, so what the heck is
Aaron Rodgers a Steeler?

Speaker 8 (28:14):
Is that?

Speaker 4 (28:15):
It is that the only thing left?

Speaker 9 (28:17):
Yeah, honestly, I mean, if he'd be stunned if he
doesn't go there that that I know. I don't want
to say the whole off season's made by getting Aaron
Rodgers to say that the Steelers want him as an understatement.
He met with him last week. He just has to
tell them one way or the other. What he's going
to do, or just put it this way. They know
he has interest playing there. It's just he's gotta he's

(28:40):
just got to get this out of the way. Now
here's another thing.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
Let's say this.

Speaker 9 (28:43):
Let's say later this week he decides he's going to
go there. Ready, he grees to a one year deal
or a deal that he can get, they can get.
After one year, when's he going to show up with
his teammates. That's the thing with Aaron Rodgers that that
he's got to do a better job of. He's just
got to be there for their offseason. But we're talking
about I get this. The first Jay went to the Jets,

(29:06):
he gave all his money back to them. He was
that there, which is huge.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
She was at all that camps.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
He did all that stuff the first year, I'm saying,
then he got hurt and then everybody the second year,
you know, when things it just didn't work.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
Well, it was away and he had something set up right.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
But but the first year he got there, he did
everything you could have asked for the Jets other than.

Speaker 9 (29:25):
We actually did Rob real quick, let me just say this,
he was this is what they told me. The Jets
did he was great behind the scenes working with younger players.
I know it didn't show in the field, but with
Zach Wilson, he couldn't. He could not have done more
for the kid.

Speaker 8 (29:42):
So he did.

Speaker 9 (29:43):
I don't know Rochet personally. I have nothing against him.
I'm just calling it down the middle. My job to
give you information. Now, I still say, I still maintain
you got to be there with your teammates, particularly when
you're you're with players you've never worked with before. There's
no by the way, there's no Devanti Adams here. He
doesn't know any of these players. So and he's with
the new Colt.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
I agree with you. I'm not saying that he shouldn't,
but I'm saying the first went to the Jets. He
did do all that. So yeah, that makes sense to me.
That's all sure.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
Uh any other surprise. I'm trying to think Cowboys off season.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
They'll get Parsons done. Look, it may take about trading
him to get they need so many things. No, you
can't trade him. No, he's too busy worried about that podcast.

Speaker 9 (30:27):
Here's the deal, Robi, you don't trade Hall of Fame players.
I'm going to give you before you get out of it.
I'm going to give you a great story. So twenty eighteen,
Klo mack is having contractual issues with the Raiders, right,
So I was calling the Raiders a lot because you know,
there were rumors and all this, and they flatted to
these not being traded.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
When he goes, we're not trading him, blah blah blah.

Speaker 9 (30:46):
John John Gordon kind of commeddeered personnel from Reggie mackenzie.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
Reggie was told he had a trade.

Speaker 9 (30:53):
He was told that, listen, we're going to extend Clio's contract,
but he's got a first. So it was it was
August they got they got cold feet. Gurdon did a
one to eighty and he told Rechie McKenzie to trade him.
This is after saying they wouldn't do it, right, So
what I Why am I bringing this up? You never

(31:13):
say never, Okay?

Speaker 4 (31:15):
I just so much money though tied in the Cowboys
have paid so many people. But you're talking about a
You never trade Hall of Fame players. You just don't
get it. Do you see how defense was last year?
Adam On? But I know, I know, leave it with
him out there.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
I would say, I always do the uh branch Ricky
to Ralph Kaind know when he played for the Pittsburgh
Pirates and and Ralph kind of led the league at
home runs, and he went in for a rays and
branch Rickey said, I'm not giving you a raise. He said,
we finished your last place with you. We could finish
your last place.

Speaker 4 (31:46):
Well, let me give you one.

Speaker 9 (31:47):
All right, Rob, you and I are Rob you and
I are close to say, mate, you remember I'm gonna
this is from your childhood.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
Remember von Hayes Bill, he's acquired from Cleveland. Yes, five
for one.

Speaker 9 (31:57):
Listen if somebody, if a team calls Jerry Jones and
Steven Joses says, hey, listen, what about these two players
and three first round picks. That's a different story that
could happen to any player. But in general, you do
not trade Hall of Fame players. And Michael Parsons and
I got to give him credit, he's been phenomenal. He

(32:17):
let's put it this way, he's been one of the
draft picks that they've developed, and it's an absolute superstar.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
And you just you don't trade these guys. Yeah, I
mean we saw that with Miles Garrett. They're like, uh uh,
you ain't going out nowhere. Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 5 (32:29):
Yeah, they stuck to Everybody thought, well maybe you know
he wants to leave, so why not, but he's stuck around.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
Adam Man, thank you appreciate taking some time with that
on this Tuesday.

Speaker 5 (32:37):
Brother, thank you so much. Good you got it later. Yeah, Mike,
and they ain't going nowhere. And Jerry loves to keep
stars right, you know what I mean, so forever we
can have those, no pun intended is up right? Y?

Speaker 4 (32:48):
Yeah, you found out all right. You know, Tony hits
one hit one deep. It's just good. It's just great
that he's out there, been able to be out there.

Speaker 5 (32:57):
You can tell he'stinner by the way, which he's already
thin and amazing shape. You know, he's you know, two
percent body fat. But I saw it when he was
up to bed. Look, I go, Tony lost a little
bit too, by the way. I know, Toni's a big dude.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Look, you might have lost
you know, seven eight pounds so far. I'm sure he's
on a high coming off of that trip to Ja. Yeah,
oh for sure. Family.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
The only time he's ever really nervous, right, Yeah, with
all those people watching and everything all right, we got
last call.

Speaker 5 (33:24):
We do have last call eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven ninety nine On Fox Man,

Speaker 13 (34:47):
Justin jumping up, I'm like, hey, who we got I though,
justin thank you for adding to Georgia New York.

Speaker 4 (34:59):
You're on the out Fox Sports Radio and you are
the last call on the odd couple.

Speaker 6 (35:04):
That is the shame. But you know, I was just
wanted you consider State Cang the Hall of Fame player. No, okay,
because when you guys take him because the Giants so
they didn't trade him, they just didn't resign him.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
Yeah yeah, I mean not yet when he got there
to four years of being if he he's himself for
two more years he's in, it's just a lot. I
think one year one thing, because remember the Giants wouldn't
even offer him a contract.

Speaker 4 (35:29):
The talent is there, He's well on his way if
he continues at this rate.

Speaker 8 (35:34):
Yes, George, that was it some way to get get
the fan of the son and like you said, trying
to rebuild, because where's Launch Tailor when you need him involved?

Speaker 4 (35:46):
Lawnce Taylor was in New Orleans winners.

Speaker 6 (35:48):
We saw now there you guys think very good, But
where's guys like Launch and all those guys that they
used to have? I mean, really, what happened to him?
I mean the boys called the Bullie boys? Whatever happened
to that?

Speaker 7 (36:00):
You know?

Speaker 5 (36:01):
Well, you know what that is, George. Thank you for
the call, George. That was an identity, you know what
I mean? And I think sometimes that's what I'm big
on With teams. Well, I don't even if you want
to go back. We were talking about the Lakers earlier.
Whoever you are, what's your identity? Like, I know what
some of the successful teams are, doesn't mean you're gonna
win everything. Only one team in all sports are gonna win.

(36:22):
But what's your identity? What is in lockdown defense? And
whatever the sport is is a fast paced offense, whatever
the sport is is it, we're gonna grind it out.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
You know, I need to know your identity and that
that he's.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
Talking about those Giants when that was there, they were
hard nosed defense and they were gonna run the ball
and then make a pass when they need to. So
that's you gotta get back to an idea, if it's
Russell Wilson, if it's chadeor eventually and start to say, hey,
we're gonna be pass heavy or we're gonna be this
type of team.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
But teams that are out here just living rop no identity.
You don't know what they're like. What are the hornets?
I don't know. I know what they on?

Speaker 8 (36:53):
Bad?

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Well, yeah, to me, what do they do on the court?

Speaker 5 (36:57):
You're right about that, But you know what I mean,
you look at something like I can look at the
Kansas City Chiefs. Okay, they're gonna play really good defense.
They weren't gonna you know, they were gonna take no
down to field plays. They're gonna dencon dunk you, and
they're gonna win close. Okay, boom, love it, hate it.
I knew what they were, you know, if you look
at the uh the Eagles, you knew exactly what they were.
Gonna run the ball, run the ball, throat lock you up,

(37:17):
big boys on both sides of the offensive defensive line,
and we'll play action here and there and get a
play you knew what it was. Most teams that are good, too,
very good to great have an identity, and so many
teams forget that part man having an identity. By the way,
don't have the right team on your court. Express Employment
Professionals can help from contract placements to full time hires.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
We've got you cover.

of growing your business, gotta show some love out to
the men's tournament.

Speaker 4 (37:49):
Were talking about the ladies earlier.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
They had the nerve to have a really good showing
so far, the men's basketball tournaments afterged about nine point
four million viewers, marking the best figure to the second
round since nineteen ninety three. Uh so, man having these
bigger names, Yeah, big schools, right, and we talked about it.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Uh you know, the Cinderella story sounds good, but people
like the blue bloods. People like the big schools that
they know, coaches and coaches that they know. And there
are a lot of older coaches from the from the
good old day.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
You had Rick in there for a while obviously, Kelvin Samson,
Mike tom Izzo, John Cayler, PARI. Who else am I
missing a handful of the Oh uh Kansas bill self bill?
So yeah, so you had you had you had them
in there, you know and where you knew. It was like, okay,
let me, let me watch these teams and kind of
what I'm expecting. So I, you know me, I said,
I wouldn't mind a couple more storylines, a little more sillier,

(38:45):
a little more upsets, buzz.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
But especially get some buzzer beaters. But come on out,
that was missing. We did have the bank. We got
the bank Colorado State. Yeah, almost won that one, right,
they got banked out of the You gave me the
mother loving ball, That's what he told.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
I'm from Baltimore, from b Moore's son to you watching baseball.

Speaker 8 (39:03):
Arm right here.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
I'm starting to get jimped because this is where, at
this time, this time of the year, when I come
home or whatever, I'm looking for game.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
Yeah, I am every night. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (39:15):
The little fondness in your eyes, you got a little
sparkle in your eyes, a little misty. I'm not gonna lie.
You're getting excited about your something. You can you can
smell the hot dogs, yes, that I'll be eating with
no bun, but it's okay.

Speaker 4 (39:28):
I'll do you know what I do. Somebody that's Rod Parker,
The're gonna record you and put you in a gram.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
But what I'm gonna do is I get I buy
two hot dogs with no bun, put them together, put
mustard on them, and then or I'll put two hot
dogs in a bun, put the mustard on tie, and
then use then as the whole as a holder, and
I eat the hot dogs out of the bun like that.

Speaker 4 (39:50):
I know it's kind of gross. It is gross, and
I'm trying to be an adult, but my weight loss
as good as selt. But I'm just saying, because here's
a problem.

Speaker 5 (40:00):
I'm associating with you now, okay, And I just don't
want somebody at me and tagging me just watching you
just scarf down these buntonless dogs
