call in and get lined up there. Justin will take
your call, let them know what you want to trash,
and of course we will not stop you or interrupt
you at all. So we got a lot to do.
(01:29):
But let's go here, Calvin. Last night, it was a bummer.
I don't care what anybody said. It was a bummer. Yeah, man,
Juju Watkins the world stopped for two seconds, dude, everybody did.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
So I'm all excited, you know, because the game started
seven Pacific time, so you know, we're we're like, all right, cool,
we get off, we get to watch it, getting ready
to go watch this get home boom. I'm like, wait,
what what just happened? In Juju goes down the first
quarter on a fast break. Couple girls kind of you know,
Cheryland are trying to stop them. There was nothing doing nothing,
(02:02):
that's clear, nothing to file. She's going the whole in
her defense. Yeah, and they weren't even they weren't even
following her, just on the sides of her, both sides,
and she kind of it looked like her right leg
just playing it wrong, and that thing just gave out, man,
and she tore her right a cl season ending surgery.
Was down for a while, and you know, obviously a
lot of pain and just yet the day before, everybody
(02:24):
was having the conversation about her and Jade and Daniels
and his mom kind of you know, coming in the
middle of them having fun with it was a cute
little story.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
His mom put the Kai boss.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
She was damn hold you see the point she said,
fuck out and listen, we're all being professional mouth leader.
They looked like she was like, boyfucking hey, focus, straight ahead,
straight ahead. Becuse Remember his mom came in when he
was with him and was like, no girls. First thing
she told him no girls. But everybody's like, Mom, that's juju.
That ain't like some little floozy trying to get with
your son. That's juju. She you know, she's self made.
(02:54):
But some point of bringing that up is it's just
amazing how life can go. You know, just twenty four
hours early, give or take a couple, you know, two
or three a day or two, she's sitting there watching games,
hanging out with Jay and Daniels. We're all having a
little fun on social media about where they flirting with
each other or not or are they just friends? And
that was like a cute, little fun story. Then the
next day or two, booms, she's down down for the season,
(03:16):
had an incredible sophomore season, breaking all times of records,
first team, this first team, that Big Ten Player of
the Year. I mean, just doing what Juju has done
twenty five a game looks amazing. And so it was
difficult because you know, there's page with Yukon, you got
Lauren Betts with UCLA, you got some some player flows
(03:37):
in a with LSU, some more you know, other players
out there.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
But Juju is Juju.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
She's the face of college basketball, women's basketball, arguably college basketball.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Including the dudes.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
And to see her go down, it just took the
wind out of the cell, not only for the Trojans,
but just for women's college basketball, like oh Man, because
you were looking forward to her getting to the Final four,
competing on a big stage. You know, and listen sports
these stars and if you especially o't heads basketball, Yeah,
and you look at all the success they had in
twenty twenty three, then that goes incredibly. I mean, you
(04:11):
look at there was an eighty nine percent jump in
the national championship game from twenty twenty three to twenty
twenty four. Of course, when we had Kaitlyn and Iowa,
LSU all right, South Carolina. I'm sorry. And so now
the ratings everybody was concerned row are not gonna go
down this year. There's no Kaitlyn, there's no Antel Reace,
(04:32):
there's no this, there's no that. There's no drama, you know,
per se, And that's not the case. They're putting up
all these numbers right now, and they've done pretty dug on.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Well, this shit ain't her numbers. It ain't Kaitlyn's.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
And now you could just find you some reruns of
the Golden Girls Marathon. I'm that serious. Would Juju not involved?
I know everybody trying to be nice and all those
that it's a rap. No, yeah, it's a rap. I'm
not interested. I'm not it's a rap. Women's college basketball tournament.
(05:07):
It's a rap because what the momentum that they had
going with Caitlin last year, Juju this year right, and
her pursuit of maybe winning a championship or getting to
the final.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Don't tell me that would have been back to back years.
Oh my god, this.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Really puts a wet blanket over the women's basketball tournament.
I don't care what anybody says. I've lost interest. I'm
not interested.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Now.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
I wanted to see Juju I did, and you know me,
I'm not that big of women's basketball, but you want
to see juju I did. And we know what Caitlyn did.
I never the one thing Chris and I talked about.
You can say whatever you want. The numbers are undeniable
that people wanted to see Kayln club. People are like
making oh well, they're just saying no, no, no. The
(05:51):
numbers her games went through the roof because she didn't
play as a normal women's basketball player. Now she was
doing stuff we hadn't we had not seen from a woman,
woman's player.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Stuff that normally breaks the rules, Like you're not supposed
to be doing that. I don't think it's over. You
still got Page out there with Yukon. Like I said,
you still got South Page. You still got South Carolina.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
I want North Carolina.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
You're gonna keep going. You got l s U. You
want baby Boo or something? What you're gonna say now,
b Yu no s U. I'm doubt U c l A.
Are they gonna get it done?
Speaker 2 (06:28):
You?
Speaker 3 (06:29):
No, I'm not interested in You got Lauren Benson, U
c l A.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
You don't like that? Can they finally get there and
get it done. I mean, there's still being nice. I
know you're trying to sell it, but I'm not trying to.
I'll say this, I'll say you lose a player of
that well out of doubt.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
But the credit I'm gonna give women's basketball for the
last two three, four seasons is that it is more
than dude. You could argue men's basketball is Cooper Flag
as far as notoriety. Now, there's some other you know team.
If you love Yukon, obviously there out. But if you
love I love the Rick Patino story, or I love
to know you, they're out. But I'm just naming out,
you know all I want to see if Kelvin Samson
(07:07):
can finally do it Houston or is oh does he
finally get it done?
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Is Calipari find another one?
Speaker 1 (07:12):
No players outside of Cooper Flag, you really can't name
too many players got And I would argue women's basketball
has had more stars in the actual game.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Players.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
You just gave me Paige and and Juju. Who else
I gave you Paige? I gave you for himself flows it.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
I can't give you something flows your nay over there,
l s U because he's a commercial. She's got commercials.
Literally during these games, she's rapping, She's all over the place.
I got Lauren Bett's six foot seven star with you
see Bookie Bets.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
I'm just saying I disagree she's the star rob, but
there's more stars.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Thomen I got hurt last night.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Listen because the one point the women's basketball is crying.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
They were sick first of all, all sick because it
was just terrible, Like it wasn't just like a bad ankle.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Give her a few days, she'll be back. It was terrible.
You saw the like the.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Worst possible scenario for her to be heard, and that's
gonna probably take her.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
What a year to get back a little.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
As we talked about eight from medicine is better nowadays.
That used to be the death blow back when my
eighties nineties basketball, you got an A C. L. It
was you could come back, but you were Penny Hardaway,
you were all these other guys never shell of themselves.
But now she can bounce back eight you know, eight months,
give or take. But you get my point. It's coming off.
(08:32):
Kaitlyn Clark.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
This could have been back to back years. It could
have been where the numbers are through the roof. Yeah,
it was like she was gonna have to further along
that she went. I think there would have been even
more interest, do you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (08:44):
For USC Yeah, and I think there was a she
was gonna have to see page two, which would have
been interesting, you know what I mean, to see if
they if we could actually have that game with the
two biggest stars actually link up. But yeah, again, just
a just a horrible blow man, absolutely a terrible, terrible
(09:07):
You just wouldn't design it that way, like you literally,
if any that's the one we need, we need this star.
But again, credit, I think there are still some women's
bas college women's basketball stars out there and some teams
that can still do alright with the numbers, they're gonna
go down because Juju is a casual watch, like meaning
people I.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Don't really know little bit about Juju's on. I'm gonna
watch that, That's what I'm saying. And that's a big blow.
I just I can't see how they're gonna recover from this.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
This are you saying this past this season?
Speaker 1 (09:36):
I'm just talking about the momentum that was being built
between Caitlin and juju is what I'm I'm just saying
this year, I'm it's like a wet blanket over this.
I'm telling you, I want to hear from people. Do
you are you still interested or did you lose something?
I thought college women's college basketball took a big blow
last night.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
We took a.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Body, but we're still in the fight, is how I
would view it. So you still you're still looking to
watch games?
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Yeah, I'm a definitely, I'm not watching it. South Carolina's playing,
I'm watching LSU's playing. I'm gonna watch Page and yukon
Is are playing on u CLA. I'm gonna put now,
I'll get I don't know every team. I'm not gonna
sit up here and act like I'm you know, but
those there's about four or five teams. I'm gonna peek
in get home, you and I get home, or if
it's on in the studio, I get home, I'll turn
it on for Yeah, but uf must see TV. I'm
(10:25):
not disagreeing with that. Must stage is still must see TV.
South Carolina is still because Dawn stating what they keep
running through. Everybody all this in the last four or
five years. But Page is the one. I mean, come on,
I'm not lying. She's she was white hot. She was
Steph Curry.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
And you know twenty fourteen, fifteen, sixteen seven, like that
run where it was just you gotta see what Steph's
gonna do tonight?
Speaker 3 (10:48):
That was Juju.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
You know, she's just a great player, and uh it
sucks to see that, and you're hoping in the speedy
recovery and she can get back as fast as possible.
But I still think that I still think people are
gonna watch I.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Don't I think that that really the ratings and what
you were talking about, the ratings so far this is
gonna have.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
They had so that the real quick selection the Sunday
was the second highest I've ever had. Obviously last year
is one point nine a year before one point seven.
This year, Uh, they have fifteen games of five hundred
thousand view which was the highest ever there. So they're
saying in this March mad Is obviously don't have all
the numbers yet, but there hasn't been a drop like
ones would have thought without Kaitlyn's gonna be dropp and
(11:27):
it hadn't been part of it because what you just mentioned,
people want to see Juju uh so that the numbers
have been steady, they're I'm telling.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
You the numbers will not continue to be steady. It's
gonna be drop again. And that's what I'm saying. It's
a body blowing a fight. Rock you got me, But
it wasn't a kidney fade.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
I'm in it. My kny's hurt.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
My look, my arms dropped a little bit. You know,
I got a block those my best mid section. But
I'm not I'm in the fight. I don't think it's over.
I think people are still gonna check it.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
If I'm working, I'll be working you over with some
barbecue ribs. That means that blood in there. I know
what you're saying. No, I'm gonna keep it. I'm gonna
keep I think people are gonna keep it all right.
Eight maybe an eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
Want to hear from You eight seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine on This Trash Talking Tuesday.
It is the odd couple, Rob Parker kelvin Washington, And
(12:14):
where are you have your lost interest with the injury
to Juju Watkins like with the women's tournament, or you're
still gonna watch people You're still gonna you're still involved
or interested because I know I lost all my interests.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Well that's because that's all you had with Juju. Rob, Yes,
that's all.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
But I'm saying I think a lot of Hooper hoop
fans are still like Juju only adds to it.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
She's not the only all right, We'll see most people
will falling off. We'll see, We'll hear you, We'll hear
from you.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Coming up next, it is The Odd Couple on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Stick and stay.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
Unless you're a fake women's age hooper fan in the
US of A like Rob Parker, be.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with
Rob Parker and Kelvin Waton weekdays at seven pm Eastern
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
I see what you're doing there, Mary mack tupat keep
your head up talking to the women in college basketball,
talking to Juju specifically the game because Rob said he's out.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Let's right, So that keep your head up and I'll
keep my TV off. You even more wrong for that?
What come wrong?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Coming to you?
Speaker 3 (13:25):
Live for the Tireck dot Com Studios.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
Robin Kevanant Couple on a trash talking Tuesday, Rob talking
trash already. Of course, let me read this real quick
before we get to your cost. Tractor supply, and he
knows that a winning season takes practice, team working, a
can do attitude. Thankfully, when you have a neighbor like
tractor supply, teamwork comes easy. Whether you came for pets,
chickens or a few acres, our team members will help
you succeed season after season. Tractor supply for life out here,
(13:52):
all right, I say, listen, Women's College of Basketball took
a major blow with the acl tier of Juju Watkins.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Obviously painful to see.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
She means so much of the game, But I still
feel like people will be invested. There are some good
teams out there. There's a few names you still know.
Rob says, heck, no, he ain't watching eight seven seven ninety.
I know Fox that we got Mark in Sacramento. You're
on the couple of Fox mortuadio. What's up Mark?
Speaker 6 (14:18):
Sub Rob? What's up mister Washington? How you doing doing?
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Good Man? Thanks for the call.
Speaker 7 (14:22):
Yes good.
Speaker 6 (14:25):
I'm kind of leaning on with Rob on this one,
and I hate to say that.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
No, but she's such a drawing right. I mean I don't.
Speaker 6 (14:35):
I agree because they were reliant on a few names
over the last few years and they rode the wave.
Well it's kind of changed. And another thing happened. As
far as men's college basketball. I think you're all of
a bit, mister Washington, because you know what we haven't
had in men's college basketball.
Speaker 8 (14:51):
That we haven't had.
Speaker 6 (14:52):
We haven't had all those buzzard beaters that we usually
have in the first round that keeps it exciting.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (14:57):
So we kind of went out of the end of that. Yeah,
we missed that. But I tell you what's gonna happen
at the at the back end.
Speaker 7 (15:03):
It's gonna they're really gonna get drounded.
Speaker 6 (15:05):
Out because all those number one seeds, if they keep
keep progressing, we may have we need to have a
collision course of number one seeds. Yeah, I'm looking at
it at the man so that I mean, that's gonna
dround out the women.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
Yeah, but let me ask you this though, real quick start.
That was what my point was. You could argue there
was more women's stars than the players. Now I'm not
arguing quality games or I'm not.
Speaker 6 (15:26):
I would think I would say yes because of the
nil thing and all this transfer going on, and then yeah,
there's a lot going on in men's basketball that's not
in women's basketball. So in that aspect, it does affect
stars because it's such a constant door, of revolving door
in men's basketball, it's constant.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
That's a good point because Page has been in ucon
seems like for twelve years. Jus you feel like she've
been in USC for three or four. It's only his
second year. Uh So I get you, all right, appreciate
the call, Thanks, Mark, appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Mitch in Oklahoma, you're in the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
What's up, Mitch? How are you?
Speaker 8 (15:59):
Man?
Speaker 9 (15:59):
I'm good. I'm I'm good down in Oklahoma.
Speaker 7 (16:01):
How y'all doing? Ray?
Speaker 3 (16:03):
We really are? He Mitch.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
I'm excited because baseball seams about to start and I'll
be at the Dodgers Tigers game on Thursday, So I'm excited.
Speaker 9 (16:12):
Well there you go. Well, hey, well catch that ball
for me and bring it to me down here normally. Okay,
that ex that thing, Rob, I'll tell you what I got.
You know this young lady, she's short, right five.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Three, No, she's six to yeah.
Speaker 9 (16:31):
Yeah, Wait a minute, I'm thinking of the point guard.
Did y'all see that play of that guard on Facebook?
Possibly on TV where she she did it behind the back,
but she didn't do what he did want to arn't.
Did you see that?
Speaker 3 (16:46):
I didn't see that, but I know that. I think
I know who you're talking about.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
She can do some some crazy.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
So have you been watching the women's I mean, are
you watching it? Okay? So now out.
Speaker 6 (16:56):
I've been.
Speaker 9 (16:57):
I've been a dedicated fan, uh for women's basketball for years.
And what I think is, I think you're right, Rod,
just because when you know women's still set behind face,
they're coming on strong though, no.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
They are, but this is a blow, it is no doubt.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
Thanks for you, Thanks for your appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Mitch Andre in Massachusetts. You're on the couple of Fox Sports. Maight,
I thought Andre only messed with men's basketball.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
What's up you? Andre loves hoop? Tell him Andre, tell him?
Speaker 8 (17:30):
Yeah, thanks taking the call. Let anybody that that's that's
a hoop fan, that that's truck tried and truth. They
dedicated to game of basketball. You have to support men's
basketball for me, and this is going all the way
back to nineteen ninety seven. The vision that David Stern
has starting to w NBA at the NBA level.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
You see the guys, but you remember there was a
women's league before the w NBA.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
I know everybody gives David.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Like you weren't in Detroit with the Detroit Shot winning
a couple of rings.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Rob bl Right, wasn't it? Andre?
Speaker 4 (17:55):
The wb sounds like a radio station wbls take delay.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
Right.
Speaker 8 (18:00):
You know Katie Smith played for the Detroit Shock.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
You know the w NBA win Cash Cheryl Ford.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Come on, Rob, you were there. You were covering those
Shock teams. Rob excited to be there at the Palace. No, no,
you ah.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
You didn't cover. But on, I've been covered, Steve.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
I've been covering to WNB I Sins nineteen ninety seven.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Okay? Is that the one? That's all? I heard?
Speaker 1 (18:22):
Dane?
Speaker 3 (18:23):
Where are you though? Are you gonna still be watching?
Speaker 1 (18:25):
I mean, I think they're gonna lose a lot of viewership, Rob, listen.
Speaker 8 (18:29):
I think that the basketball community is hurt right now
for Juju and for the women's game because it was
such a great story, and you know, Juj, she was
that rising star, best player in the game.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
You arguably the best player in the game in the last.
Speaker 8 (18:42):
Couple of years, and you just hurt for her, You
hurt for UFC, you hurt for the legacy, right because
she's walking in Cheryl Miller's footsteps. Right, so we have
the chance to see that lived out. Remember, Cheryl Miller
didn't have a w NDA to go to after her
shining bright Madina Dixon, the pride of Boston, Massachusetts, didn't
I have a WNBA here in the Commonwealth. So the
(19:03):
players have that next step and rob to your point.
Originally there's parody. It hurts the tournament because she was
the brightest star, but this was going to be an
open ended tournament anyway. South Caroline is not dominant. There's
some other storylines. Paige Becker is and Asi fund At Yukon.
Can Yukon just climb back up the mountain. South Carolina
is right still there in the mix. UCLA is good.
Speaker 7 (19:22):
There's a lot of.
Speaker 8 (19:22):
Parody this year for women's basketball, but Juju was the
brightest star in USC was the best story.
Speaker 7 (19:27):
So it hurts.
Speaker 8 (19:27):
It hurts everybody, just specifically the women's game.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
I'm taking the call no proble and I was right.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
The first women's professional basketball league in the United States.
The WBLS form in nineteen seventy eight, but it ceased
operating after three years. So when from seventy eight to eighty.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
One did Cheryl Miller get in there? Though I don't
remember her, I don't remember her run. If it was
before that, it must have been. Yeah, I think she
was like a year like. I think she would have
been in college as that was ending in eighty one.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Cheryl Miller, Yeah, I doubt she's so good. I remember.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
I know she had to be like y'all think the girl.
What if I was playing right now in this air.
Sure Miller was not.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Terrible logo and always say that. But it was the seventies.
Well it looks very tropic thundersh right there. And it's funny.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
It was the Women's Professional Basketball League, but they called
it the WBL. They Women Basketball League. They left the
p out and then yeah, they did maybe too long,
you know, NFL, NBA, MLB, they were like, we got
to have three.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
We can't go for nobody else.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
For NHL, the team that won the most titles, they
all won one. Give me the Cities lost, the Houston Angels, Okay,
New York Stars in Los Angeles.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
And the Nebraska Wranglers. Nebraska had a team. That's why
I didn't make it unbelievable. All right, there, you did
your information for the day. I just hoped that, Steve.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
I always feel good when I when I think it's
something to put it out there.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
And then I was right. I knew.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
I knew the w NBA wasn't the first women's league,
right because Ann Myers didn't she play in that league?
Speaker 10 (20:58):
Steve, I wouldn't doubt that's about her era. She was
drafted in the camp by the Pacers.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Remember she went to the Yeah, she played. She was
all in the Pacers camp. Was that a BA though?
And that day had they already moved to the NBA?
Was that a b A?
Speaker 10 (21:11):
She was on the seventy six Olympic team, so that'd
be after after the Marger Yeah?
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Uh And I'm trying to think.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
And she was married to uh Don Don Drosdale.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Nice, some great jeans in that family. Yeah, I was
a high powered couple.
Speaker 10 (21:28):
Right there, We're gonna go through all the WFL teams
next hour.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
You want to do XFL, euro League? What else do
you want to do? NFL? And the how many failed leagues?
They have in Europe, the World League. They had like
three leagues in Europe and none of them. Well, get ready,
there might not be a league, but there's gonna be
a team.
Speaker 10 (21:46):
Remember when Larry Zonka went to the w f L. Yes,
the USFL had Jim Kelly and other guys. Im there
was another women's league in the w.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
N USFL, and Steve knows this.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
That league was loaded with Reggie Warren Moon. They all
played in that league because they were paying Young. They
were paying more money in the NFL. The NFL wasn't
paying Steve Young.
Speaker 10 (22:08):
Eventually, I assume didn't get paid much at all because
he had a very long contract and the league folded.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Yeah, Steve, I bet about that. You haven't heard of
a thing called guaranteed. I went to watch them play
at the coliseum. We went the La Express.
Speaker 10 (22:20):
That was the next that's right, and they had Express,
the Washington Federals in that league, and eventually when they
matched up, it was the Federal Express game.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
You go look at that.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Day, leave home without it.
Speaker 10 (22:31):
The La Express. Things got so bad they took the
games out of the coliseum and they were playing over
in the Junior College here at.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Pierce JC oh wow.
Speaker 11 (22:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (22:42):
By the way, the Spring League, the UFL, starts this
Friday night.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
I'll never Fox, just like you never missed. Women's college
hoops saw to the NBA.
Speaker 10 (22:51):
We got eight games tonight, including at Detroit where the
Pistons are up seventy two to forty eight over the
Spurs in the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
It was like a five point game of my look.
Speaker 10 (23:00):
Steve, this is without Kid Cunningham. He's out again with
a sore calf. Did not play on Sunday. How's Jimmy
Butler doing.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
He's back in Miami.
Speaker 10 (23:08):
He's one of five shooting and they're down double digits
against the Heat. Late first half, it's forty eight thirty
seven Miami up against Golden State, and Miami has a
losing record at home this year and certainly a losing
record overall. It's the Knicks late first half, up sixty
four to sixty three on Dallas. Hornets lead sixty eight
sixty five on Orlando as they approach mid third quarter.
(23:31):
Jason Tatum of the Celtics is doubtful for Wednesday with
a sprained ankle suffered last night. Nicola Jokic of Denver
with his bad ankle doubtful for Wednesday. He could miss
a sixth straight game. Damian Lillard of Milwaukee out again
tomorrow calf injury, and Janis Antanacumpo is questionable against Denver
with a sprain foot. Philadelphia's Tyrese Maxie, who averages twenty
(23:51):
six points a game, we'll miss another game tomorrow with
a sprain finger. He's been out three weeks. The NBA
expects next season salary cap to increase by ten percent
the maximum allowed, so that would be up to about
one hundred and fifty five million dollars per team. The
Men's Sweet sixteen starts Thursday night, Women's Sweet sixteen begins Friday.
In college hoops, NHL has ten games tonight, including Tampa
(24:13):
Bay still up for nothing on Pittsburgh mid second period,
Brazil at Argentina, and a World Cup qualifier going on.
Argentina already a two to nothing lead after the opening
ten minutes or so. It's now two to one against
Brazil about a half hour in the US is going
to be co hosting next year's World Cup tournament. The
New York Giants are giving quarterback Russell Wilson a one
(24:34):
year deal. The Patriots are signing wide receiver Stefan Diggs
and Stanford fired football coach Troy Taylor.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
Back to you, he is Steve the Sacred, Thank you
so much, appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
We are company. You live forttyrack dot com Studios.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
It is the odd couple Robin Kelvin on a trash
talking Tuesday, which pop it off at about twelve minutes
or so.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
So we'll have that in just a bit.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
But right now with checking in with Eddie House, NBA champion,
as well as of course Emmy TV broadcast.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
They're in Boston with NBC.
Speaker 7 (25:01):
Eddie, what's up, man, What's what's happening?
Speaker 3 (25:04):
What's up? How are you?
Speaker 7 (25:07):
I'm doing good man. I'm a little tired man being
on the road for a little bit. Finally at home,
got my feet kicks up watching this game. Man, Very
nice in my robe, feeling great. You understand me.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Ain't nothing like that at home.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
All right, I want to start here, Eddie and you
got a couple of things, obviously, Jimmy Butler and all
this stuff. But before we get there, Lakers last night
in Orlando, I was a really bad loss. They just lookedgic, lookethargic,
Looke ball hogging out here in these streets, and uh,
you know they were.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
They couldn't stop Orlando.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Orlando's like the worst averaging team as far as points
all year, and they've they've scored one hundred and eighteen
very easily against the Lakers. What did you make of
that the Lakers have struggled of late.
Speaker 7 (25:50):
You got to remember Orlando being hurt, right, Uh, Wagner
been out. The other Wagner is out for the rest
of the season. So they and and Paolo was out
for while. They're good. Now they play extremely hard, Okay,
they do. Jamal Moseley has them playing hard. They believe
in him. They're young, young team that believes in themselves,
(26:14):
and so it wasn't surprising to see how much faster
they look compared to the Lakers. Okay, the thing is
the dust that's settled, right. The honeymoon season is over with.
You know. It's like that girl that you you you meet,
you like, oh, I really like her, and ooh she
(26:34):
looks so good in those jeans, and then you start
kicking it with her and he say, hey, cause you
make me something to eat, and she can't make a
bowl of cereal.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
You can't make her housewife, Eddie.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
No, that's not the same.
Speaker 7 (26:52):
Exactly what it is because they can't defend you know
what I mean.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Hold on, Eddie, now, I'm glad you mentioned that because
it's early January.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
They have been one of the best, if not as
right now, I know.
Speaker 7 (27:04):
That was a honeymoon face. Okay, you know that's not
taking him out and you were going out to eat
with her.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
I was no boaring it up. Huh, that's right. She
wasn't cooking them.
Speaker 7 (27:13):
You like, hey, could we get something to eat?
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Hot dog?
Speaker 7 (27:16):
Ain't k make a bowl of sterious?
Speaker 3 (27:20):
All right? So you JJ Reddick, what do you do?
Speaker 7 (27:24):
I don't know what he does. I think he's gonna
have to lean on his assistant coaches. I think he does.
I think that's one of the smartest things he did
as a head coach, would surrounding himself with other head
coaches that has been in this league before, that have
been in playoff series, that have went deep, that have
coach stars. I think that's the biggest thing to me,
the smartest thing that he has done. Everybody talks about
(27:46):
how smart JJ Reddick is. Look at how smart he
does this, Look at what they do. Now he blaming
it on fatigue. Well, if you're so smart, then why
are your team tired? Okay, number two, because this is
when you're gearing up for the playoffs. You're not supposed
to be tired at this particular time of the season.
You know you're in the best shape that you can
be unless you're injured. And so I think the best
(28:08):
thing that he did, the smartest thing he did, was
have Nate, Nick Millan and Scotti Brooks on his So
now Scotty Brooks on his coaching staff. So I think
he's gonna have to lean into them a little bit
and see how you can extract whatever you can extract.
And I don't know. I think Austin rivers. Again I
said this from the very beginning. I was like, all right, man,
I don't know if Luca and lebronco coexist. But then
(28:30):
I thought about after I retracted that statement and said
high basketball IQ players great players, they always figured it out.
But one thing you can't figure out is how to
play defense. I think Austin reeves the liability on the
defensive end. We know Luca's a liability on the defensive end,
so they're going to have to figure out what they're
going to do and their style of play on that
(28:52):
side of the basketball, they're gonna have to rebound the
ball to. And don't get it twisted. That ain't the
only team that just ran through them. They got run
through by Chicago.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Yeah, and Derek Rose and Michael Jordan didn't come to
that door, no doubt he did.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Uh Eddie in the East. Obviously we already know about
the Celtics. Uh, the next the Bucks?
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Who's he? Who would you look at?
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Why you ain't mentioned the Pistons. I'm not mentioned the
Pistons or the Cavaliers are. Just say, take the Celtics
out of it. Who's the next strongest team that that
could potentially get to the championship out of the rest.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Of the group.
Speaker 7 (29:33):
Nothing. There's no team there to me that's going to
get to the champion.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Outside of Boston. I said outside, I can't go outside
of outside of Boston. I get that outside of Boston.
Speaker 7 (29:43):
That's like you're asking me right now. I'm sitting comfortable
inside of my house right now. You say, okay, go outside,
and it's hell of hot house there. It's hot outside.
That's what the Boston Celtics is if they hot inside
is cold for everybody else? Okay, it's cool. I don't
believe that no thing could be them if for game series,
I'm talking about the Celtics. But as far as I
(30:04):
don't get the question because I don't believe that the
Celtics could get beat I don't think I think they're
the team.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Okay, we just we just got some news on on
Damian just justin give us what is that. They say
he's out indefinitely with Okay is right calf.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
Okay bo right, Yeah, I just heard that. I don't
know if you yeah, I mean that's a tough take the.
Speaker 7 (30:29):
Bucks out, take the Bucks out of it then? Right
now the Bucks is out of there. Do I think
that the Cleveland Cavaliers could rock with Yeah, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
I think that'll be a four to two series four two.
I think I could give one game the Celtics doesn't do,
don't do what they're supposed to do, and then I'll
give the other games Donovan Mitchell goes crazy. Uh. As
(30:53):
far as the other teams, the Knicks, I don't see
it with the Knicks, eith uh, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
The Knicks just don't feel the something. Yeah, they're just
they don't have enough. There's no depth. Obviously, Jalen Brunson
being out, they would say we lost our leader.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
But even when they are healthy, Eddie, they don't beat
good teams.
Speaker 7 (31:15):
Yeah, well they're not a deep team. You just said it.
They're not that deep. And I don't know if it's
because of the players pers see, but Tims just don't
go that deep into his bench, you know what I mean.
I think he trusts who he trusts, and he's gonna
play the guy that he trusts the most. So I
would say the Calves and the and the Celtics. The
(31:38):
Celtics number one, but the Calves. To answer your question,
which I don't want to answer because I don't like
putting focused stuff in the atmosphere.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Did you ever hear of upsets in sports? Come on, Eddie,
ain't nothing to guarantee stop it.
Speaker 7 (31:52):
Uh, as long as we healthy. I'm telling you, I'm
gonna be on a duck boat again this year, and
I'm gonna get another ring.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Hey, Jake quit you hell Tatum?
Speaker 1 (32:00):
All right? That ankle?
Speaker 7 (32:03):
I think he would be okay. He walked to the
free throw line and shot those free throws, and he
walked himself to the to the locker room after.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
That dirty place.
Speaker 7 (32:13):
Garrion, Huh was it a dirty play? I think I wouldn't.
I wouldn't call it a dirty play, per se. I
just think it's one of those dangerous plays. And as
a shooter, understanding that, like your space like that is that,
and when you're contesting shots, it's a it's a slippery slope,
you know what I mean. It's tough to not contest
(32:35):
and end up sometimes underneath somebody's foot. I wouldn't say
that the Bonus is a dirty player. I think he's
a hard playing basketball player. He's really good. He's a
walking double double. So I wouldn't call it dirty unless
I see him do it again.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
All right, all right, that role relaxing man with the remote.
Speaker 7 (32:55):
Watching games, you understand me.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
I appreciate you any house as always.
Speaker 1 (32:59):

The world of sports.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Will give you thirty or forty seconds and we will
not nt interrupt you.
Speaker 11 (34:42):
I am trashing anybody that's out in the Lakers guys.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
Okay, let's hear well, Look how he's staring into your soul.
I'm not right now.
Speaker 11 (34:49):
He's they got Luke and Lebron. Are they really not
gonna win the title? Come on, Lakers in five Rob,
he said, he why you gotta put my name, man,
because I know you're doubting them.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
What about what's my name? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, what you
got to say?
Speaker 1 (35:06):
I mean, I know we're not supposed to anything.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Just saying my you know.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
What mine is not sports related? Okay, I'm going full
rive g Off the sports radar here. What it's supposed
to be anything in sports?
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Will you dag it?
Speaker 4 (35:18):
Let me get this one off before it become about you. Okay,
I'm on my way in if good Wall home from
uh TV and I had to do some other stuff,
some other hits and everything. But what is it about
the lookie Lose. I'm like, man, why is traffic so bad?
And it shouldn't be this bad at this time of day.
I probably lost at a half hour thirty five minutes.
(35:38):
Come to find out. Now, I'm not gonna lie. It
was a big crazy look at there was a car
flipped over. I will say that, and I hope they're okay. Mary,
give me some stammy out. I hope they're okay. That's
first and foremost. They were on the other side, and
I'm like, that was what it was. It took forever
because everybody was doing the whole looky loo thing, lookie Lou,
and I'm thinking it's something on our side of the freeway,
and it wasn't. It was on the other side. So there, Well,
(36:00):
I hope everything's okay. Look like it was. U looked like,
you know, like people were fine. But what is the looking?
Can we look it? Still do sixty?
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Mary?
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Can we looking?
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Bam?
Speaker 4 (36:09):
I've seen what happened, but I'm still doing sixty. I'm sorry,
So that like a thirty?
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Why all right? Sure, I keep going. Here we go.
I'm sorry, Draymond Green, what you mad about?
Speaker 1 (36:21):
Draymond for don't politic or or uh, push or make
an effort to try to get Defensive Player of the Year.
You shouldn't have to do all that, And I think
that that cheapens it and it makes some voters be like,
what is this guy doing if you've had that kind
of year. People respect the writers who cover the league
(36:44):
and cover the games. That's what they do. You don't
have to put it out there. We know Wemby's hurt, right,
he could have been a guy who's who's up there for?
It was his right. Draymond got a shot once, right
once web Rudy Gobert right as always.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
He's one of four or five of all.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
They got to settle down. But I'm just saying I
can't take him with anymore.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Stop. I'm sorry, this is your track, this is mine.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
But I'm just saying, you don't need to go out
there and politic and try to convince people that you
should win an award. It just feels weird. Can you imagine, like,
like really it would be like Luca going, look at
my numbers? You know I got Josh. If Luca says that,
don't you feel a certain kind of way.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
We got you, Luca. We already know or we're gonna vote.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
Whichever way we are. Let your coach do it, let
your teammates let the you can't do it. I got
another not another trash talking Tuesday. This one goes out
to Giannis. Giannis is too good for us to be
having issues the last two or three seasons were they're underwhelming.
And I know Dame hopefully he's well. In a serious
(37:54):
note that the new news we just gotten not too
long ago, twenty minutes or so, that Dame is having
some blood clot issues. Don't know what that is. We
know the severity out indefinitely. We know Wimby's out, so again,
prayers up for him. That's a serious thing, But take
Dame out of it. Actually, Giannis is too good. If
I ask you who's the best player in the NBA,
you're gonna say Yo kich Sja and then probably Yanness
(38:17):
if you want to say Luke of if you want
to say n B was healthy.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
But that's right around there.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
Maybe you get down the five six, you throtate him
in there, and so on and so forth. Yannis Antetokumpo
is supposed to be so good that my presence alone,
like Peak Kobe, like peak Lebron And I'm not saying
you do it by yourself with four other bums. But
as long as I got some good players on this team,
we should be extremely competitive, a one, two three seed.
(38:43):
I should be the one that's say, man, huh, I
know Cleveland's good, but shoot, they run into Milwaukee. Hey
I know, man, I know the Pacers are good, but
they Hey man, I know Boston is a ranging chap,
but man, they're gonna struggle with or with Milwaukee, and that's.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
Not the case.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
So that's one more for me is that Yanni's man,
you're too good, You're too dominant singularly, and you're not
thirty four, you're not thirty five, You're like twenty eight,
twenty nine, thirty. And I fully expect Gianna to be
his teams to be better, especially when you go and
get a perennial All Star twenty four or five points
a game, like, dang, what the heck's going on? So
(39:17):
as much as we put on this on other star players,
I think Jannis needs a little bit of a little
bit of this, you know, flak.
Speaker 3 (39:22):
Okay, may you got one, I do, got one.
Speaker 5 (39:26):
I do my trash talking is anyone who's been crap
talking and pooh poohing on a mirror or a con.
I feel like everybody's just hating on him because he
got the ten million.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
Is it ten million for the NIO he got. I
don't know it's ten million.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
I think you had you might add it's I think
a hundred thousand, you might add down zero something.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
You know, he is ten million. He deserves it.
Speaker 4 (39:45):
Yeah, that's the I know you got the boombox deal
for sure, because, like you know, I didn't.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
See a lot of hate, Mary. I mean, it's a
lot of hate.
Speaker 5 (39:54):
I've read a lot of hate lately, and I think
I think y'all are just bullied.
Speaker 6 (39:58):
No.
Speaker 4 (39:58):
I thought he had a little nice little mo you know,
the NCAA highlighted them. He's all over socials, you know
what I mean. He mess around to actually get a
date now.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
I mean, yeah, now mcneice's in the congo.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
Yeah, come on, Giannis, you're too good again. Pairs up
for Dame too,
