in my career, I let that go, Let the guy
get to the rim. They're not going to fail you.
Blah blah, blah blah. I hear a lot, but there
were people criticizing them. That another one where coach Cal

doesn't move on and you know, like do something different.
I know what he's been around. He was forced out
of Kentucky finally they got tired of disappointments. And let's
hear what I like to offessionally affectionately call him, can't
coach Cal.

In my career, I let that go, Let the guy
get to the rim. They're not going to fil you.
You know, they're and with that kind of time just me,
you call time out. Now, you got to worry about
what he's doing, how he's playing the inbound, what are
you doing? So I usually let that go now because
it ended the way. Yeah, I wish I would have

called a timeout, But ninety nine percent of the time
I let that go because now I.

But you, Michael ain't getting the ball because there wasn't
enough time to pass it, so you you had to

I just couldn't believe that he would would be able
to get the ball. But anyway, my point is, this
is a long history for Cali Perry. The one championship.
What is that the one year they had six players
drafted right by six six players drafted in the first
round of the NBA draft. They had one championship in

Unbelievable and and and I'm just at some point when
you look at him, hell of a recruiter. Oh that

I just don't think you can coach. I really don't.
You can't have that much talent and come up short

all the time. And then the other thing too, He
says like that's that's his philosophy or whatever, right to
just let it go. But wait, the way it came down,
I would have called time out. Does that make sense
to you?

No? No, you can look, where are you on him?
They were middle of the road in the SEC, right,
I'm not saying that they will in ten in conference play.
Nothing to write home about twenty two and fourteen or
whatever that is.

He had an opportunity yesterday to extinguish all of that,
or at least have people go wow, right like to
wash all that away, because the deeper you go in
the tournament, the furthest away your regular season record matters.

And you had an opportunity to be a Texas Tech
team that was ranked third by the selection committee. You
dominated the game. You had control of the game until
you didn't. And now it literally goes, we're having this conversation,

and you allowed yourself to be exposed in this conversation
by not calling the time out, by not drawing up
the right play, by not doing the things that the
great coaches do to secure a win.

It's always two options a great play, that's what you want.

we got more of the same disappointing moments where a
coach Cow for whatever reason. I'm not saying he's supposed

to win every year, and every nobody said that, but
I always tell you from when you have that kind
of talent and you win once, it's.

Only that Well, that's the problem. He became just the
one and done whisper like when you only when you
when you're hyper focused on the one and done. Guys
they don't they don't have an allegiance to you.

They're just here your bart a couple of months, a
couple of coffee in a couple of months.

And and once that became the thing, now there's no
urgency to win a championship because you're just passing through.

But how can you have a team with six first
round They all went to the league, right, that's how
good they were. But they couldn't. You couldn't.

You haven't been able to duplicate that sense.

No, but you you weren't able to get something more
out of them.

guys may have stayed because the money is gonna be
so big. But that would that that may be different now.
But back then, dudes was like, yo, man, you give
me for eight months and I'm out.

I just wonder. I know he's won a championship, won
a lot of games in basketball, o that. But when
you think of Coler Parry, what what do you think of,
like what comes to mind? The first thing just to.

Do one of the top recruiters in the country.

And mine is he can't coach like seriously, like and
I'm and I say that from the standpoint of when
you're when you get that much talent, it's not about
winning every year. And he did win one, but man,
I can name uh fifty coaches that won one, you
know what I mean? That just had the right players,

the sun and moon aligned and everything worked out that
year for you and and they won, and just no
other real success he should have won. You want to
like cement your legacy. If he went to Kentucky in one,
two or three in a row, like then you're like,
my god, recruiter coached Stars one championship.

It's hard to do that when your philosophy is based
on just young guys. You gotta remember these are seventeen
eighteen year old kids. That's a lot of responsibility every
single year for a new seventeen year old to come
in and carry you to a championship. Like that team
he had with Anthony Davis. I mean that was Anthony Davis.
(11:24):
Was Anthony Davis. What he's doing in the pros he
was doing in college. There's nothing you can add with
the handle he had, and so that's a formula that
he used. It it's hard to duplicate. Why would you
duplicate Why would you try to duplicate that?

That's so difficult to do.

And so, yeah, he can get the kids in, but
they're out just as fast as they get.

There, right, But you would think that still you would
be able to maximize them for a year because there's
so much talent. I just don't have time build enough.

Think about that. You don't have enough time. These kids
come in. Where do they get there with August? August?
They're done in February, March, it's over right, So you
got to build this whole thing with this teenager along
with other teenagers.

Who played all over the place.

You got to bring them together and they gotta be
a weld or machine in a couple months.

I understand it. It's just that some of the coaching
moments in circumstances, I get it. But that's because I
look at it as well, you know what I mean.
I get that part of it, and we'll throw it

thing in the second half. I tune in the Arkansas

in the beginning Cali Perry was a great coach. He
came out of, you know, a smaller school like Patino
was in Providence. He was in Massachusetts. He was a
great coach. Then he got to Kentucky. He started off
pretty good. But when he got today one and done stuff,
he just lost his edge. I don't think he's got

the edge anymore to really carry it through and gets
hurt him. Maybe he can get it again by who
knows what. But I thought in the beginning that's why
he got to Kentucky. He was a good coach. He
fought a lot of good battles. I used to watch
him goes down from serious.

He just didn't win enough for me to have that
many great players. Hey hey, Chris, real quick, because you're
in Syracuse. Is Jim behaim a good coach, just curious.

I I yes, then he should have know him second.

he won one championship with Carmelo and if Carmelo didn't

Let me make a point. He should have won against

they hit that Brazilian guy and they took him right
right before the NCAA Championship and they said he couldn't
play because he didn't pass a grade and they had
a great team that year.

forty eight minutes a couple of games, and to me,
that's an absurd thing to do in today's day and age.

but two teams sit at the top. If you had
to pick right now, who would you bet on an
Eastern Conference final? The Boston Celtics shooting way they're shooting.

I'm liking Cleveland a lot, and I say that with
a low trepidation, just a minor one, only because I
need them to make shots. I need Streets to make
shots in the playoffs. But at the same time, the
reason I'm not really so one hundred percent of Celtics
is because they take too many three.

You gonna have a bad night at the office.

Yeah, I don't know if you can sustain that in
the playoffs because the adjustments are going to be made,
and so outside of that, you know, you're right to me,
it really is a two teams race right now. You know,
I don't think Milwaukee's gonna have enough. You know, Dame
his situation, you know, hopefully you know he's healthy and
get better suit. But I don't trust Jack Rivers. And

again there's nobody else really in my opinion, you know,
so I'm going with Cleveland. I think that Biggersta has
done a hell of a job, Kenny Actin, He's done
he actually Biggers.

Had done with Detroit like he's been phenomenal, but kept

you're on to something, right, But that was also I think.

It's an indictment of Manti Williams. He never wanted that

you make of this? Something really bad had to happen

I believe it comes down to either Jahn Moran, oh
Jamn Jackson or both going and saying something management, because
that's the only way. There's only a few games left right.

the day, I thought that sacramental thing was the worst
one with Mike Brown, you know, having him practice and

last time I asked Houston minus thirteen and a half,
they won, but they didn't cover the spread. There only

had Sacramento minus five and a half against Portland. I
got that one right, So one and two. My record

gonna say, we saw Lebron try to get Eric Spostra

fired down in Miami. Pat Riley said, no way, no,
how well Eric sposed to is still there, got a
big contract, hadn't won a championship since then, but they
chose the coach over Lebron.

Yeah, it's very few organizations. I mean, you're not gonna
muscle pat Riley. It's just not gonna happen. Right, Eric's
supposed has been a tremendous coach and franchising somebody like
pat Riley knows number one, he's not gonna be fired,

and so he knows he's seen Remember he was with
Kareem and Magic and like the Knicks, Like he's seen.

His coaching job with the Knicks might have been as
great as Yeah, he didn't want a title.

But you know, oh yeah, yeah yeah, but he's seen
players come and go, and he knows the value of
hold on to a great coach because he was a
great coach, So he's looking at it a little bit
different than your normal president of basketball operations be like,
what does want right, give it to him? What he's like, Yeah, no,

we're gonna go this way. And now they've had success,
not the ultimate success, but they've had success. They've been
to the finals a couple of times, been deep in
the playoffs. I'm may never get over the hump, but
they couldn't get over the hump. They didn't have enough
talent to really get over the hump. But you know,
Jimmy Butler was playoff Jimmy for a couple of those
years and supposed as a heck of a coach. I mean,

he's one of those coaches they can take undrafted guys,
late round draft picks and and and tournament two high
volume players, uh, and they love to go there because
that means they gonna get a real second contract.

Yeah.

No, It's it's interesting always whenever UH players don't get
their way, especially the NBA. But something happened here obviously
with nine games to go in the season and they're
the fifth seed and the coach gets fired, Like I
could see if the only way I see far in

the coach in this situation was some NBA coach who
had won a championship or two becomes available and is
ready to go, and you think I'm gonna upgrade my coaching.

Yeah I would do that. Yeah, where's the upgrade right now?

There isn't one. I know this guy.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
Nine games, you're in fifth place. No, I had this
thing in those dies. I don't.

don't know. I mean, I look at his record long term,
letting things go haven't really worked out. His quote was
in my career, I let that go, Let the guy
get to the rim. They're not going to fail you.
Blah blah, blah blah. I hear a lot, but there
were people criticizing them. That another one where coach Cal

doesn't move on and you know, like do something different.
I know what he's been around. He was forced out
of Kentucky finally they got tired of disappointments. And let's
hear what I like to offessionally affectionately call him, can't
coach Cal.

In my career, I let that go, Let the guy
get to the rim. They're not going to fil you.
You know, they're and with that kind of time just me,
you call time out. Now, you got to worry about
what he's doing, how he's playing the inbound, what are
you doing? So I usually let that go now because
it ended the way. Yeah, I wish I would have

called a timeout, But ninety nine percent of the time
I let that go because now I.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Know what they're doing. They know what we're doing.

That's why we did it.

But coaches Ephraim draw plays all the time. So what
if they know what we're doing? So what if they
know the ball's going to our best player, does that
mean we can't get it. We can't get the basket
because you know the ball's going into Ephram. No, come on,
Oh wait a minute. Let me see. I was sitting

courtside when Michael Jordan hit that shot over Craig Elo
in Cleveland. Okay, Aphram, I'm sitting there courtside. I'm talking
to Clifton Brown from the New York Times. I'm going
for the Daily News at that point, covering the NBA,
and I'm like the Cavaliers on double team at Michael, like,

there's only one guy who could get the ball, could
hurt you. I would have two guys draped over him.
Somebody's gonna be wide open. Go ahead, I dare you to.
But you, Michael ain't getting the ball because there wasn't
enough time to pass it, so you you had to
throw it to where we was gonna shoot it. And
(04:20):
I just couldn't believe that he would would be able
to get the ball. But anyway, my point is, this
is a long history for Cali Perry. The one championship.
What is that the one year they had six players
drafted right by six six players drafted in the first
round of the NBA draft. They had one championship in

his career.

And it was him what boogie? Who else? John Wall?
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Unbelievable and and and I'm just at some point when
you look at him, hell of a recruiter. Oh that
not that, that's that's not that's not even an issue.
I just don't think you can coach. I really don't.
You can't have that much talent and come up short
(05:11):
all the time. And then the other thing too, He
says like that's that's his philosophy or whatever, right to
just let it go. But wait, the way it came down,
I would have called time out. Does that make sense
to you?
Speaker 6 (05:27):
No? No, you can look, where are you on him?
They were middle of the road in the SEC, right,
I'm not saying that they will in ten in conference play.
Nothing to write home about twenty two and fourteen or
whatever that is.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
And so.

He had an opportunity yesterday to extinguish all of that,
or at least have people go wow, right like to
wash all that away, because the deeper you go in
the tournament, the furthest away your regular season record matters.

And you had an opportunity to be a Texas Tech
team that was ranked third by the selection committee. You
dominated the game. You had control of the game until
you didn't. And now it literally goes, we're having this conversation,
(06:44):
and you allowed yourself to be exposed in this conversation
by not calling the time out, by not drawing up
the right play, by not doing the things that the
great coaches do to secure a win.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
I gotta play that we're gonna get a look at
a basket. It might not go in.

It's always two options a great play, that's what you want.
It's always two options unless you got a Jordan, unless
you got exactly the ball's going on now, right, But
other than that, there's always two options on a great play.

That's why the play is great. That's why it's great.

And for him not to have that in his bag
and ready to go and have confidence to call the
time out and set that up.

Right, we've been working for this moment.

We've been working for this moment. What happens if we're
in the NCAA tournament and we have a chance to
tie the game or in this situation, I need a play.

It's the only I believe double digit seed there was
remaining in the sweet sixteen. Right, So now that becomes
the story. That becomes the story.

Because a big story, huge, Well, coach.

Cow comes over to Arkansas, right, I.

Got rid of muscle Muscleman, Right, you.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
Got and he got run out of Kentucky. And look
at where he is with this team, look at what
he's done and the run that they're on. And instead
we got more of the same disappointing moments where a
coach Cow for whatever reason. I'm not saying he's supposed

to win every year, and every nobody said that, but
I always tell you from when you have that kind
of talent and you win once, it's.
Speaker 6 (08:42):
Only that Well, that's the problem. He became just the
one and done whisper like when you only when you
when you're hyper focused on the one and done. Guys
they don't they don't have an allegiance to you.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
They're just here your bart a couple of months, a
couple of coffee in a couple of months.
Speaker 6 (09:08):
And and once that became the thing, now there's no
urgency to win a championship because you're just passing through.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
But how can you have a team with six first
round They all went to the league, right, that's how
good they were. But they couldn't. You couldn't.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
You haven't been able to duplicate that sense.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
No, but you you weren't able to get something more
out of them.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
You weren't turnovers too much. Your turnovers too much.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
Now that may be different now because some of those
guys may have stayed because the money is gonna be
so big. But that would that that may be different now.
But back then, dudes was like, yo, man, you give
me for eight months and I'm out.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
I just wonder. I know he's won a championship, won
a lot of games in basketball, o that. But when
you think of Coler Parry, what what do you think of,
like what comes to mind? The first thing just to.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Do one of the top recruiters in the country.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
And mine is he can't coach like seriously, like and
I'm and I say that from the standpoint of when
you're when you get that much talent, it's not about
winning every year. And he did win one, but man,
I can name uh fifty coaches that won one, you
know what I mean? That just had the right players,
(10:36):
the sun and moon aligned and everything worked out that
year for you and and they won, and just no
other real success he should have won. You want to
like cement your legacy. If he went to Kentucky in one,
two or three in a row, like then you're like,
my god, recruiter coached Stars one championship.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
It's hard to do that when your philosophy is based
on just young guys. You gotta remember these are seventeen
eighteen year old kids. That's a lot of responsibility every
single year for a new seventeen year old to come
in and carry you to a championship. Like that team
he had with Anthony Davis. I mean that was Anthony Davis.
(11:24):
Was Anthony Davis. What he's doing in the pros he
was doing in college. There's nothing you can add with
the handle he had, and so that's a formula that
he used. It it's hard to duplicate. Why would you
duplicate Why would you try to duplicate that?
Speaker 2 (11:41):
That's so difficult to do.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
And so, yeah, he can get the kids in, but
they're out just as fast as they get.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
There, right, But you would think that still you would
be able to maximize them for a year because there's
so much talent. I just don't have time build enough.
Speaker 6 (12:00):
Think about that. You don't have enough time. These kids
come in. Where do they get there with August? August?
They're done in February, March, it's over right, So you
got to build this whole thing with this teenager along
with other teenagers.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Who played all over the place.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
You got to bring them together and they gotta be
a weld or machine in a couple months.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
I understand it. It's just that some of the coaching
moments in circumstances, I get it. But that's because I
look at it as well, you know what I mean.
I get that part of it, and we'll throw it
out eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven nine nine, six sixty three sixty nine. Just your
thoughts on coach cal can't coach colt.

was in Providence. He was in Massachusetts. He was a
great coach. Then he got to Kentucky. He started off
pretty good. But when he got today one and done stuff,
he just lost his edge. I don't think he's got

the edge anymore to really carry it through and gets
hurt him. Maybe he can get it again by who
knows what. But I thought in the beginning that's why
he got to Kentucky. He was a good coach. He
fought a lot of good battles. I used to watch
him goes down from serious.

He just didn't win enough for me to have that
many great players. Hey hey, Chris, real quick, because you're
in Syracuse. Is Jim behaim a good coach, just curious.

I I yes, then he should have know him second.

One, wait a minute to coach fifty two years and
he won one championship with Carmelo and if Carmelo didn't

Let me make a point. He should have won against
Indiana with Colvin. He missed that fole shot broke our hearts.
But he should have won a third when they when
they hit that Brazilian guy and they took him right
right before the NCAA Championship and they said he couldn't
play because he didn't pass a grade and they had
a great team that year.

just seemed like he's Lebron too caught up with that,

a run, get his team together, and he's focused in
on a sports analyst on television. Is he distracted?

It's very distracting for him. To do that, especially during
a game. You know, you're in the third quarter of
a game. Every game, to you guys right now is important.
Whether you're trying to like position yourselves for the playoffs
or not, but it's they're all important games. And now
you're arguing over with a guy who made a comment

about your son. But that comes with the territory.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
You know.
Speaker 8 (21:26):
I was talking to my brother to day. He said, hey,
if you're getting a check, you all fair game. Everybody's
fair game. And so to me, Bronnie, whomever they fair game,
you push for him because one of the main things
he did, which I think ticked a lot of people off,
saying that he's better than most NBA players.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
Right, well, yeah, that tweet is gone, you know.
Speaker 8 (21:48):
That to me that was so like the word that
was just he was egregious, and so to me that
was foul. Don't disrespect your brethren like that. And you know,
stephen A, you know, I don't like Steve at all.
That's a personal thing between me and him, but I'm
still siding with him because he was still doing his job.

And so at the end of the day, lebron was
totally wrong. And now they're doing the whole tour, and
so to me, it's just it's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Even the commissioner comment and on it.

Now can you see a scenario where they fall all
the way to the play in. It's only like two

They get that tip in against Indiana and then Giddy
makes the three almost three quarter you know, or half
court shot and knocks them out, and so it's like, okay,
so Karma is a real tricky female, and so it

was just like, wow, you win that game and then
you turn around and lose that one. But the problem
was that no one's talking about it is the fact
that how they got to that point twelve seconds to go?

Did you lose that? You got supposedly two of the
smartest players right right?

I agree with you that that's the part that you
look at and go, how did you give that game up?

That was luck all day every day. How we get
how did we get to that point? No doubt?

How about the new the Knicks, you know last year
they had the nice run. I know that they're not
one hundred. Jalen Brunson right is he? He's still out?
But but what about the what about them? If they
get Jalen Brunson back and they have Cat there, do

they have enough to really make a run in the
East When you look at the teams that are that
they have to take on Boston and Cleveland and those teams.

No, you know, I got to go back to my
I gotta go back to my favorite saying, if my
aunt had testicles, she'd be my uncle. I don't believe
in that is all I know is this Thibodeau wears
his players out. The Nicks are not built for the
playoffs because they will tear down, break down and everything

else down, and they're just not gonna have enough come
to playoffs, especially when they need it. And it's unfortunate
that you got to play guys thirty eight forty some
guys forty five. I mean, I've watched Josh Harp play
forty eight minutes a couple of games, and to me,
that's an absurd thing to do in today's day and age.
You know, with the way the game is, you have

enough players. Give these guys a breather. He's wearing them out.
So I'm not I'm buying the Knicks at all.

Coming out of the East. Clearly it's a one team race,
but two teams sit at the top. If you had
to pick right now, who would you bet on an
Eastern Conference final? The Boston Celtics shooting way they're shooting.
Are the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Speaker 8 (25:56):
I'm liking Cleveland a lot, and I say that with
a low trepidation, just a minor one, only because I
need them to make shots. I need Streets to make
shots in the playoffs. But at the same time, the
reason I'm not really so one hundred percent of Celtics
is because they take too many three.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
You gonna have a bad night at the office.
Speaker 8 (26:19):
Yeah, I don't know if you can sustain that in
the playoffs because the adjustments are going to be made,
and so outside of that, you know, you're right to me,
it really is a two teams race right now. You know,
I don't think Milwaukee's gonna have enough. You know, Dame
his situation, you know, hopefully you know he's healthy and
get better suit. But I don't trust Jack Rivers. And
(26:43):
again there's nobody else really in my opinion, you know,
so I'm going with Cleveland. I think that Biggersta has
done a hell of a job, Kenny Actin, He's done
he actually Biggers.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
Had done with Detroit like he's been phenomenal, but kept
and look that was that was a little slip, but
you're on to something, right, But that was also I think.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
It's an indictment of Manti Williams. He never wanted that
job and they should have never been that bad. Oh
did you know this league? To lose twenty eight straight
games in the NBA with all these bad teams, you
can't even that's almost impossible to do.
Speaker 8 (27:23):
Almost it is, it is, but it's done right. It happens.
And so to me, sometimes guys get jobs because you know,
it's like, well, we're so used to this guy. He's
a nice guy, and no, we got to get the
right guy. Right to me, sometimes you know something like
that happening, you know, And I'm not trying to disrespect money.

He's a great guy, but again, just because he's a
great guy, that does not mean he's going to be
the right guy.

And it just seemed like he really didn't want the job,
and they threw so much money out of him.

It was almost how do you not take that?

Last thing, the Grizzlies fired their coach, Taylor Jenkins. What
do you make of that? Here we are, h right,
and the season is about to be over and you're
getting a new coach like like this, the coach was
hard in July, just this past July. So what do
you make of this? Something really bad had to happen

for them to make that move now and not like
go through the playoffs and then make it after the season.
Speaker 8 (28:28):
I believe it comes down to either Jahn Moran, oh
Jamn Jackson or both going and saying something management, because
that's the only way. There's only a few games left right.
Speaker 4 (28:42):
Well, and they said that now ja Moran is available
for the game.
Speaker 8 (28:47):
Exactly, That's what it is. Because at the end of
the day, I thought that sacramental thing was the worst
one with Mike Brown, you know, having him practice and
then you know, then calling him on the font. Hey,
by the way, don't come back. But you know this
one is up there too with I mean, they're sitting
in fifth place. What is it about him that you

couldn't let go another week and a half?
Speaker 4 (29:10):
That's what I'm That's what I'm saying, like you don't
make the run in the playoffs, and if.

If you feel like Milwaukee did it last year, Adrian right, yeah,
but that was that was water.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
But they had the second best record the time.

I think they were like with thirty three and like
thirteen or something.

Like that, Like, how do you fire that guy that
was right at the halfway for you? How do you
fire that guy is at the end?

I know, I can't believe how late we are in
the season. It was a shocking just to see you
guys fired.

Like, Okay, you don't expect any coach to get fired
right now.

That's that's why I think there's something else there.

different Brank, Here's why. I had the Lakers minus four
and a half. So when they were up in double digits,
you know, I kind of counted all as a win
as I got that one, right, the Lakers minus four
and a half of Chicago, Uh not so quickly. And
last time I asked Houston minus thirteen and a half,
they won, but they didn't cover the spread. There only

one bar eleven, not thirteen and a half. And I
had Sacramento minus five and a half against Portland. I
got that one right, So one and two. My record
now stands at eighty one and eighty two. And remember
Checho City. I'm not telling you who to bet on.
I'm telling you who I bet on. But I was
gonna say, we saw Lebron try to get Eric Spostra

fired down in Miami. Pat Riley said, no way, no,
how well Eric sposed to is still there, got a
big contract, hadn't won a championship since then, but they
chose the coach over Lebron.
Speaker 6 (33:40):
Yeah, it's very few organizations. I mean, you're not gonna
muscle pat Riley. It's just not gonna happen. Right, Eric's
supposed has been a tremendous coach and franchising somebody like
pat Riley knows number one, he's not gonna be fired,

and so he knows he's seen Remember he was with
Kareem and Magic and like the Knicks, Like he's seen.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
His coaching job with the Knicks might have been as
great as Yeah, he didn't want a title.
Speaker 6 (34:14):
But you know, oh yeah, yeah yeah, but he's seen
players come and go, and he knows the value of
hold on to a great coach because he was a
great coach, So he's looking at it a little bit
different than your normal president of basketball operations be like,
what does want right, give it to him? What he's like, Yeah, no,
(34:37):
we're gonna go this way. And now they've had success,
not the ultimate success, but they've had success. They've been
to the finals a couple of times, been deep in
the playoffs. I'm may never get over the hump, but
they couldn't get over the hump. They didn't have enough
talent to really get over the hump. But you know,
Jimmy Butler was playoff Jimmy for a couple of those
years and supposed as a heck of a coach. I mean,

he's one of those coaches they can take undrafted guys,
late round draft picks and and and tournament two high
volume players, uh, and they love to go there because
that means they gonna get a real second contract.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
No, It's it's interesting always whenever UH players don't get
their way, especially the NBA. But something happened here obviously
with nine games to go in the season and they're
the fifth seed and the coach gets fired, Like I
could see if the only way I see far in

the coach in this situation was some NBA coach who
had won a championship or two becomes available and is
ready to go, and you think I'm gonna upgrade my coaching.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Yeah I would do that. Yeah, where's the upgrade right now?
Speaker 4 (35:52):
There isn't one. I know this guy.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
Nine games, you're in fifth place. No, I had this
thing in those dies. I don't.

I don't get it.

It must be good for us, the Lakers. But hey,
