(01:19):
when I'm right, I'm right, and I want some credit.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Dang it for those just joining.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
We were having a conversation about most popular athletes in America.
Caitlin Clark came up BECAUSEWNBA commissioner says she might be
the most popular Carrie and I said, nah, no, as
a few others. I specifically said, there's three hundred percent
that she's not Lebron Steph and Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Next question is gonna be about Steph?
Speaker 5 (01:41):
Okay, go on, I said.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
You said no, my girlfriend Natalie would not know.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
I never And I said, he's been in a lot
of Super Bowls and a lot of commercials, and you
would ahead to hit a few people up who aren't
big sports people, would you find out?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:54):
So they all said, not super confidently, but they're all like, yeah,
quarterback question or football player question mark, you know, like
they all said that, and then one of them mentioned
literally wouldn't know who he was if it wasn't for
the Super Bowl. Yeah, that's what my friend Leah said.
Hey girl, Natalie said, I.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Think he's in a lot of commercials.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (02:13):
And so that's what Natalie said. And then I text
my coworker boss from the Dodgers, and she was like, oh, yeah,
I think he's a quarterback, right, And then I was like, yeah,
we're having a discussion about whether, like who's more popular,
and then she said, oh, Caitlin Clark is an icon.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
He's just a quarterback.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
And so you were right, you were right, But no,
my next question is going to be Steph great, because
I'm just like, Lebron is the one that I think
is obvious, right, But like with Patrick Mahomes, I'm a.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Little bit surprised, but I guess you were right.
Speaker 6 (02:41):
The super Bowl, they see their faces like, is just
too big of.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
An about a hundred million.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Some people like like it's a massive, massive show that
Americans might as well be a holiday the way we
treated yes, And so he's been in so many that
I just feel like, you know, and I think you're
going to understand understates, Steph.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
I think you're going to go, Okay, yeah, I bet
you had. They're like oh no, no, no, Steph.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
I think they will definitely know Steph Curry I think
I actually shocked you even questioning this. Really, Yeah, Seph
Curry Nazi Nazi NBA Finals.
Speaker 6 (03:12):
But if you don't watch the NBA, this is not
the same equivalent as a super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
I'll tell you why it is.
Speaker 5 (03:17):
It's not.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
It's not. No, it's not. It's not.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Six times you stumble upon he's hit too many big shots.
He's been too many commercials. He and his wife have
been on too many things.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
Right now, he's not on commercials like you would have
had to know who he was five years ago.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
So do you like being wrong?
Speaker 5 (03:36):
That's right? Hey, Kevin, that's enough. You can't you can't
be berating that. That's double. Speaking of doubling down, Kevin
Durant has doubled down. So I'm interested against your thoughts
on this. Uh, Carrie, so k d.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
You have Emmanuel Acho on his show and I'm trying
to paraphrase.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Do you want to go son? You want to be
a paraphrase? Well, paraphrase, so Auto.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Basically says, hey, I think the Celtics are a better team,
not a better team, but they fight harder, they take
the presence the essence of that leader at Jalen Brown tougher,
going to the whole more than tATu, who's more soft spoken,
more chill, kind of a more reserved and gonna shoot
a lot of threes. That was essentially what he's saying.
I'm paraphrasing KD Jumps on Twitter and he just basically says,
(04:27):
I actually want to pull it up to make sure I.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Get it correct.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
All right, read it for me, rodjer I want to
make sure I want to Quoe because his part is
the most important.
Speaker 7 (04:33):
He says, hot take artists have ruined the sport football guys.
No disrespect Carrie for y'all. Boys need to stay in
your lanes. You don't know what it's like in between
these lines.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Give it a.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
Break, which is not true.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
But go ahead, right, go ahead, Kelvin so I said
at that time, all right, first of all, well, actually
I'm gonna get to the double down. Auto comes back
today because obviously that happened after his show. He's at
his opportunity to say something. Essentially, but he took them
shot to Katie and he says, look, look, you might
have struck a corps because you weren't the leader. As
(05:05):
matter of fact, twenty seventeen, you said in a publication
that oh I don't want to lead.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
I'm not that kind of leader. I don't like having
people behind me.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
He said, you whenever you try to drive the bus,
the bus crashed, but you hopped on the bus and
the Warriors won.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I mean, he was calling him out KD.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Ryan Clark says something as well, Man, so you're trying
to you know, guys will have to stick to the
sport they know. And Katie said, y'all taking it too seriously.
All I was trying to say is y'all don't know
what it's like to walk in the shoes, to be
an NBA, play with so on and so forth. So here,
here's my thing with KD. So many things, by the way,
you're trying to be brief. Number one, KAD talks about
(05:40):
football all the time. He's a big time commander fans, right.
He talks about it to the tune of jumping on
with Kay Adams weekly FanDuel to talk about what football often.
That's right, which is perfectly fine. KD grew up. Guess
where he went a lot. Probably I would imagine a barbershop.
You know what you do soon as you walk in
man so and so way better than him, So and
so smoke him and you have conversations. Doesn't matter if
(06:02):
you were a barber, if you were insurance salesman, a
dope boy, it didn't matter. You had an opinion on something,
and so so did Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant always has
an opinion on music, you know what I mean? Like
we all do these things. So I can't be a
movie blogger or I can't be a movie film critic
if I never made a film.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
I can't write for Bloomberg or Wall.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Street Journal if I don't run a business myself like this,
these things happened, and the idea is to say as
if they haven't done the research, the homework to be
great analysts as yourself, and you know others do who
played football. And also my biggest point, Kevin Durant likes
to throw his nose and everything so much so that
he had a burner account carried because he wanted to
(06:44):
have an opinion here Opinionaire.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Opinionaire called him out getting the comment section.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
And lastly, Amanu Alto has a nice following, right, done
well for himself, doing well, doing well? Yeah, guess what
made this bigger? When you jumped in and gave your opinion.
Kevin Durant, you made it a thing. It would have
been on the show, died off the show, nobody would
have talked about it again. But when you, Kevin Durant
jumped out, made it bigger. Now it's on this show,
Ryan Clarks jumping in. Evaniel's got to come back the
(07:08):
next day, and Carrie Roads and Kelvin Washington are talking
about right now a couple. So I'm just blown away
by that.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
Yeah, No, the KD thing here, man, it's obviously he
only speaks about things that he wanted to speak he
wants to speak about, right There are plenty of topics
and plenty of things that go over that are hot
takes and hot take culture, and he doesn't respond to.
When it comes to the NBA, he thinks it's a
sacred place and it's a place that you know, only
a few can can can say they've done, which is true.
(07:37):
But most of these players, and most of us guys
that have played sports at a certain point in time,
also played basketball, right, so we understand how to play basketball,
We understand what happens, what needs to happen for a
team to win. Because most sports. I would say every sport.
If you're a leader, you know, if you don't have
a leader that's an emotional leader that can get you
(07:59):
to a place of being more physical or being having
a different approach to the game in a game, in
any specific game, then that team isn't gonna win. There
is truth to that.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
Now to say that somebody's better, and when somebody's there
or not there, that's an opinion. You don't have to
take that energy or that statement with any validity. That's
a true thing, and you don't have to go back
at it and say you don't know, I know better
because I do it. That's not always the case. And
so for me, it's just that like when you give
(08:30):
somebody a platform to actually what you just said. When
KD jumped on, that's when it was a real thing,
that's true. Like that's that's the part that throws me
off in any of these conversations. We don't have to
let anybody say anything and have any effect on us
in any way. That's just their thing. Carrie.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
What it wasn't about I know, it wasn't.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
About his brother, his mother, or his other It was
about Jason tATu It wasn't even about say it was
about Steph, like that's my guy, right, we played it.
It was about Russ that's my brother. I played with
my Jason Tatum. And it wasn't a hot take. Jalen
Brown was taking it to the right, being more physical,
and he was saying maybe they want to you know,
and then they show a video of him like what
(09:13):
the time out they were He was getting everybody up,
high five of them, get him going.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
It wasn't a crazy take. You might not agree, but
it was always like he was like.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Jason Tatum is not even a top fifty player in
the NBA.
Speaker 5 (09:23):
Right, Kevin.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
I'm gonna say this though, because he even said Tatum
is the better player.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
Yes, but I don't. I don't agree with this with
a cho's take at all. I just don't like that
KD jumps into these things and says that somebody's not
qualified to do it because he's not the person to
say that yet.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
And that's everything.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
And he even took a dig oh talking about toughness
from a guy that h would quit the NFL early
to do media. Dang, KD, Mike, and I don't even
act like I'm like Auchos, my guy. I don't even
know him, but I'm saying, but that was to take
the personal dig when he was talking about Jason Tatum
and already said he's a better player and he's a
(10:03):
great player. I was genuinely shocked that that affected Kade
that much. If he was saying, Kevin Durant is not
the top fifteen because he jumped on the bus with
the war. Okay, I defend yourself. Hey, I was the
best player in that team. I'm cool with that. But
that was the take that got you riled up to
the tune of everybody jumping in and now you're trying
(10:23):
to no, I wasn't even that serious.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
No, I'll do that. We got to know the history here.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
That's what I asked, g didn't I said, Am I
missing something to him?
Speaker 2 (10:29):
And help you have issues?
Speaker 4 (10:31):
Because don't now backtrack and say it wasn't even that
serious when you took a personal shot at him. You
said football players who quit early to do media.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
But then it'd be like, oh, it's not that serious.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Same dude again that has burner accounts to just jump
into everything, jump in in this comment section. Jump dude,
this is what you do as well, and it's that's
okay if you choose to do that. And the idea
again that because you didn't play that sport, you can't
talk about it. And I would even argue, and this
is coming from a guy who did not play professionally,
I would argue that a lot of the principles are
(11:02):
the same. The work ethic, yes, the camaraderie. It takes
the ability to follow leadership with coaching, or maybe you're
just the leader of the team. You know, some guys
have to just absolutely being able to compartmentalize.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Mom's sick.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
But I gotta go drop thirty or I gotta go
throw for three hundred, or I gotta go deflect four
passes and make six tackles. Like, there's a lot of
the principles that apply. So I believe yourself can have
a conversation about being a professional. Now, do you know
what it's like to maybe crossover spin over euro step
to the you know, maybe not, I mean not saying
you can't do that, brother, Maybe you're giving them.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Buckets to the YNCA.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
I'm getting I'm giving buckets, yeah for sure, but you
get what I mean.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Like the idea that you can never and again just
to to give out it wasn't as if he was
just questioning Tatum's talent or heart. I'm just blown away
by that that that would be the thing. Yeah, I
just blew me away. Yeah, I agree with you.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
I'm wholeheartedly on the KD should just he should have
let that one go. And for him to say that
somebody's not qualified to talk about something when you've been
hired to talk about that.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
When he talks about music all the time, he talks
about football all the time. We all talk about it.
That's the best part about life. We all have the
things we're into, right, and that's his job. If he
wasn't qualified to do it, he wouldn't be doing it.
And by the way, for a lot of the athletes
who get mad at people who do this stuff, I
get it now in current day because we have you
all have your own outlets, right, You got my own.
That's why I do my own podcast. I got my
own Twitter, kind of got my own.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
I got a.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Snapchat, twit talk TikTok. You do realize a lot of
what made sports popular is sports media, right, is also
having these conversations given the shows, and if you don't
think inside the NBA had something to do with helping
the game and people being a part of it. I'm
not saying it was singularly at all. Obviously, at the
end of the day, the games have to be good
in the sports. But I'm saying, read it, dude. There
(12:44):
are times you couldn't see a game. You just had
to read about it, right, sports right, you know what
I'm saying. You couldn't You had to hear it on
the radio. You had to hear the sports journalist shows
on the weekends, and like and how much and how
much time do we spend having sports debate with our friends.
You go to a bar, you're having wings and the
bear you talk about, Oh man, you crazy, Muhammad. I
leave it to got smoked by Floyd Mayweather. He was
the same way. That's the better. That's a fun part.
(13:05):
So the idea that he can't do that, or we
can't express our opinions from a guy again who does
nothing but that regularly.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
One, two, three, can't coon relaxing? Can't coon?
Speaker 5 (13:13):
They get off the phone, man, And it's not new
and this is this isn't new, like hot takes have
been here for the past that year that was a
lukewarm one. Shoot, but somebody could be a hot tap.
You know what I mean, a hot tag?
Speaker 2 (13:26):
He said.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
No, I get they're better off without Jason Tatum. They
don't ever need Jason Tatum again. As matter of fact,
he's not even a top twenty five player. That's a
hot task. Yeah, he said, he's the better player. He's
the better he's a great player. He's the better player
on top five sox seers in the league. But I
just saw from a leadership standpoint, I thought they responded
to him better.
Speaker 5 (13:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
Got me over here, Like I know, Aucho, I say,
you're defending them. Hey, hold up, I ain't know Johnny
Cocker going on right now. I'm just simply saying.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
That's the second time being a lawyer.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Lawyer eighty seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox, Kevin Durant, Right, maybe, hey,
maybe if you're if you're a baseball player, then you
can't talk basketball. If you're a football player, Carry Rhodes,
you can't talk basketball if you're a basketball player, Kevin Durant,
don't talk football. Sure is KD doing what KD does?
A seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Who are you?
Speaker 4 (14:18):
You want to hear from you as Well's the I Couple.
Kevin Washington carry roads in for Rob Parker Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
You know I used to make beats. This is a
crazy I could make. I might be able a sample
this go crazy on this.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
It is nope, it is yeah, it is nope.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Man. You gotta find what part I will want to use.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
When you do it, let me know so I can
see if I can get on the trap.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
All right, we can listen. We can do something, all right,
Fox Sports Radio. It is the odd couple. Kevin Washington
Kerry rolls in for Rob. Rob Parker out today enjoying
some baseball out there in New Yak and went back
home for a little bit, ready for a new job.
Well that Express employment professionals help. While Express helps people
in all industries, fine work. Our sweet spot is logistic
(15:07):
roles and Express never charges job seekers a fee. Go
to expresspros dot com real quick, My gosh, what a
beat down in New York right now, I mean the Celtics.
You said this shouldn't even can at this point. No, no, no, no,
it's it's looking bad man. They can't make any shots.
They reverted back to the first game where you know,
(15:28):
the three point shooting eluded them, and they've become super
dependent on it obviously, and nobody else has really stepped
up outside of Jaylen Brown today. So sixty four to
thirty seven at halftime, yeah, that would be a crazy
comeback and not having your best players and make it
more difficult to do that, all right, speaking the best player,
Jason Tata being out. Kevin Durant was upset with Emmanuel
(15:51):
Alcho and just some folks in law in general saying
that if you play football, you shouldn't have these hot
takes and all that about basketball. And I just think
Kevin Durant is being hypocritical in that. Dude, you talk
about so many different things, including football. You jump on
burner accounts and your account to jump into so many
different conversations. That's human nature. We all talk about sports.
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Foxes. Take some calls
(16:12):
to go to Andre Dre in Massachusetts. Dre, you're over
the oct couple Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 8 (16:16):
What up, Drake, how you doing? Thanks for taking the call. Listen.
In terms of Kevin Durant has to be the most
thin skin superstar that we have in all of sports.
He's on social media, he puts something, he has ten
thousand likes, and there's ten people that have a contrarian opinion,
and that's who he wants to dive into and battle with,
you know, and go to war with. So it's on
(16:38):
par for him. And the bottom line is, the logic
does not add up because, as was said in this
conversation yesterday, if it's not for the myth makers, the
people on the media, who the heck knows who Kevin
Durant is in the first place, how are you out
there getting sixty million dollars annually in all of these
leagues just printing money. If not for the fan base
that follows you, the majority of which who are not
high level athletes, what is it of one percent are
(17:00):
going to go on play at the division one level
and then of that division one level like point zero
zero that are gonna make it into the into into
the pros. Okay, So your sports, all these sports, it's
a community. It's a collective enterprise. Okay, if not for
everybody having interest, having an opinion playing fantasy sports following
you specifically every single day, then you're not gonna be
(17:21):
Kevin Durant. You're just gonna be a men's leg veteran
like myself, you know, playing for the love of the game.
So it doesn't make sense. But more than that, Kevin Durant,
You're just he's so thin skins, and he exposes himself
when he gets so riled up in these issues that
he does too much punching down, is what I'm trying
to say. Kevin Durant, let people make their point. You
just be successful and play the game that you love
(17:43):
and we'll all be better off for it.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Now, Andre, you're right man, And I just think again.
To me, goes back to the point I made. He
added the fuel Carrie. Yes, as point would have been made. Haha, cool, great, Yeah,
the show would have ended. Yeah, we all have moved
on and out have been that.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
But Kevin Durrant, you're Kevin Durant, like massive star in
America sports, and you put that out there and go
and then go on and start calling out other athletes. Now,
of course, you're gonna have the Ryan Clarks and Carry Rose.
People like, all right, why what you mean? I can't
talk about another sport? And I think that's what he
wanted though, if you think it has to be, I don't.
I think he just screams out loud. No, I hear that,
(18:18):
but he has to know that that's what they want.
So a show like that, if they do put out
a claim they would love for somebody like a Kevin
Durant or a Lebron James or you got to lead
the next next day. So that's part of it. So
it's it's just a little weird to me. Hey, Eric
out in Austin, Texas. Eric, you're on with the couple
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
What's up?
Speaker 8 (18:37):
What's up Kevin? What's up?
Speaker 7 (18:38):
Carry?
Speaker 2 (18:39):
What's doing? Good man?
Speaker 9 (18:41):
Man, listen, I gotta be honest with you. I've lost
complete and utter respect for Kevin Durant ever since he
went to Golden State. I legit think he forgets or
he just doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that the
minute that man decided the lace of those shoes and
become a professional basketball player, you were open to criticism, right, Yeah,
Sports Talk your radio guys, y'all open the criticism. Anybody
(19:02):
in the public limelight is open to criticism, and it's
okay for people to have different opinions.
Speaker 7 (19:07):
KD.
Speaker 9 (19:07):
He's just Superhanio hypocritical, right. We are taught about it
yesterday with the burner accounts.
Speaker 8 (19:11):
You got stuff to.
Speaker 9 (19:12):
Say about football, but yet I can't say something about basketball, like.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
That's crazy one hundred percent. Man.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
I just it's just so strange because again, it's like
the things that he puts his nose into doesn't make sense.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
It's unnecessary.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Like if again, if it's personal, I get it right,
because I certain people like a Russell Westbrook you gonna
get this smoke period.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
They should be you should be about that. At Russell,
you're making millions of dollars.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
You said you should, yeah, right, say something about me
to my faith you see russ Yo, Yeah right back
at you. Hey, it's Wama his wife who I'm a
grown man. I actually respect that. This is where I
do get in a lot of disagreement with what friends
of mine. I think Rob is in that too. Well,
you just don't say that. I'm not a fan of that.
I'm not a fan of fans Oftentimes probably seventy percent
(19:55):
of the time, grown people being allowed to call you, uh,
race his names, call your mama.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
I don't just take it. Guess what nobody's gonna do
right now.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Walk in our studio, call us names, call your mama this,
call you in word or something. I've never ever been
a fan of people just being okay with grown adults
all of a sudden getting into arena and becoming, you know,
acting like they're playing watching animals. Never like that, Never
ever have people I'm not actually blown away? How many
(20:26):
people okay things for fans like no other job. If
you're a sales insurance person and I walked through yard,
people like, well, you'll call the police, right. Why is
it all of a sudden one thing. Well, it's sports
and you're allowed to do that, and it's okay. And
they threw a few batteries at your football player, you'll
be okay. They threw a snowball, they threw where did
I will die blown away by that? But my point
(20:47):
is it's not as if he's defending himself against something
like that, like a personal attack or attack on one
of his own teammates or random one about Jason Tatum
Blew me away, all right, Mantis, getting ready to get
your set on one's trending. And then we got to
talk about Game seven Sunday gonna be a good one. Okay,
see Denver, who needs that win more will tell you
in just a bit, Manzi Blanos right now with trending.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
It is The Odd Couple, Kelvin and carry for Rob
on a funky Flashback Friday. And and Manzi just mentioned it,
Aaron Gordon. Doubtful right now, will see what happens with
that hamstring injury.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
As you know, hamstrings are weird.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Man.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
You might wake up. I feel all right, but one
wrong move and you're down.
Speaker 5 (21:38):
Kelvin is not a doubtful. He's not playing tomorrow. I
mean it'sday, it's Sunday. Yeah, he's not playing Sunday. It's
if it's a hamstring issue.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Game seven.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
He may try to go out there. He ain't gonna
be productive.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
No, no, no, I call him the Hammi soceas the
Hammi soaces Man when the hammi soces get going. Now
you see Steph right, he's at an age where you
think he's trying to do it all to try to
maybe win one more but those when the hamstring get going.
But with that being said, they were five and oher
whenever he scores twenty and more in the postseason, So
show Yeah, he's probably been their second best player.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
He's been great.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
They're out this postseason, and so he's he's a massive
blow because Jamal Murray has played great for them, and
he's played great in elimination games as well. Uh do
you want to pull up some numbers on Jamal Murray
when it comes to elimination games. But losing Aaron Gordon,
who brings size and they've been dominating down there on
the between he and Jokic, that's a big blow for them.
(22:37):
So that that to me and I already I had
to think long and hard watching the game yesterday, like.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Championship experience.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
But then I'm like, Okay, see just got a bunch
of younger and he's got the wave of guys and
they're all not going to play that bad again. Losing
possibly losing Aaron Gordon or Aaron Gordon not being the
best version of himself for me, that leans me towards okay, see,
but the question I have is who needs this game more?
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Who?
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Who's does it? You know, which franchise does this matter to?
Maybe as a player in particular, Okay, that this game
matters the most to, I'll let you go first Game seven.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
Who needs it? That's hard? Player wise, it's Russell Westbrook,
But we got bigger fish to fry in my opinion.
But if it was a player situation, amazing, right, sounds good.
It doesn't have fish, I would say Russell Westbrook. But
the team that needs it more, it's definitely okay. See,
I mean they've been the best team in the NBA
record wise for the last two years in the West.
In the West is usually the stronger confidence in theory, right,
(23:32):
so you know, for them to not make it out
the second round would be a huge disappointment. They're at home,
you know, they've never won a championship except in Seattle.
They win Seattle as okay, see, they haven't won it yet.
And so with all the teams they've had, all the
success they've had, to not be able to hoist the
hoist the championship in their existence in okay See, and
for them to be the best team the past two
(23:54):
years regular season wise, to not get past this game
in the second round, it'll be it'll be a big discipline.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Here's why I disagree.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Okay, I think it's Denver, and I think it's Denver
because Denver has an opportunity to get to the Western
Conference Final, which ultimately you'll have to be chance to
get some revenge on Man. And also I think it'd
be great for the league, meaning them going at it again,
right because you need to start building up some rivalries.
You need to start building up things that matter to
draw you in. Oh, they don't like this Steph and
(24:22):
the Warriors versus the Calves and Lebron like you know,
you need some of that. You need that Pistons, Bulls
and eighties and Bird Celtics and the Lakers. So I
think that I think that would be obviously something. But
also for me, this is how if you get to
the Western Confagce finals, if you're Denver, and then you
get to the finals, and then if you obviously would
be trying to win the finals, this is where you
(24:43):
start to separate yourself. If you're Denver, specifically Jokic. Now
you got two, you got three MVPs.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
Thanks the conversation.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Yeah, two championship. Now you're an elite.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
Frogged a few people that we're right now, like I
don't know, is he better than I don't know?
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Is he better than a keem?
Speaker 4 (25:01):
And now you get another ring three of me people,
we gotta start having some conversation hundred right, And I
think it would be a great opportunity for him and
the Nuggets. Right now, you got two championships and went
three four years, you start having different conversations about even
the team, right because I, oh, shoot, okay, yo, kids
ain't going nowhere, you know, if they choose to keep
Jamal Murray.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Okay, now we're bringing one more piece here. Now we
might have somewhere.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
We're not maybe the Warriors of going four or five
years in a row, but maybe we're more like the Spurgs.
Speaker 5 (25:29):
You know, Hey, we're there every couple of years. Right
back there, he's our Tim Duncan.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
We kind of got a staple, so I think for
them because also it's the flip then to me, if
they were to lose in the second round, you gotta
start having some conversations about, all right, for him to
be this great, why is there only one finals appearance?
Yeah right, yeah, hear yeah, for him to be three times,
(25:53):
excuse me, three time MVP. Steph Curry got a couple
and he stayed in the finals. Lebron had you know,
we've had for four to four of them, he stayed
in the finals. Kobe had only had one, but he
stayed in the finals. Like, all right, now, I'm gonna
need you to be in these finals more frequently for
us to be saying how far you are better than everyone,
how great you are? Jokis And again he is the
(26:15):
best player. I'm not even denying, but I'm saying that
should equate to that, because usually, specifically in the NBA,
it does. Kakeima, Elaijau, Michael jordan'siven go to play baseball.
The Kames said, cool, I'm the best player in the
NBA now, And he got to two finals straight back
to one back to back and won an MVP. So
my point is, usually when you become the best, it
equates to all, right, more finals appearance. Tim Duncan, We
(26:38):
were like, oh, he's the best power four, one of
the best top two, three, four players at the time
stayed in the finals. It might not be every year,
but I mean giving it moone, three, five, seven, took
some years off, came back again, went to two straight
again versus the Heat. So my point is, if Yokis
was to lose in the second round again, I'll be
all right for all this greatness. One finals appearance and
(27:01):
one what Western Conference Finals all I got to show
for it.
Speaker 5 (27:03):
Yeah, but coming into this playoffs, did you think Denver
had a chance to go to the finals?
Speaker 4 (27:08):
So like, like, that's a chance, because I'm supposed to
say that when you have him, how big of a chance?
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Well, I actually believe it was open.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
You did serious, sincerely, I think, okay, se he was
too young for us to just crown them. This ain't
the Kevin Durant when Steph Warriors, Luke and Lebron. Yes,
those two were great, but we all had questions about
the you know, the roster, and you thought I thought
they could make up to the Western Conference finals run
and then from there you used to crapshoot, We'll see.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
So I thought it was open.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
My original preseason pick was the Timberwolves, who maybe look
foolish the first third, maybe half of the season, and
then they decided to come back. But I thought it
was open, you know what I mean. I didn't think
it was then only team. I felt like Clearcut was Boston.
That was the team I thought Allan Boston's coming out
of it. I thought they were coming out.
Speaker 5 (27:53):
Well, you would be in the minority. I would be
in the minority as well, because I didn't think because
a lot of people thought, okay, see was gonna walk
through the West.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
Yeah, I know, I don't. Ah, Yeah, I did, you
know what I.
Speaker 5 (28:00):
Mean, So like that's why I raised that question to you.
But yeah, I mean it has I could see your
opinion and it's a valid one. But okay, see, this
has been two years in a row. Yeah, and SGA
has been MVP Race, the same team as Jo Kitchen,
considered the best player in the league the last couple
of years. So I think the same thing weighs for them.
And they have the better team and the deeper team.
So if they were to lose this, it'll be a
(28:21):
big disappointment. Here's why I hang on to though. Their
average age is like twenty four to twenty five years old. Yea,
and I can hang my hat on.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
Well Man were almost there were just young check didn't
even play last year. Yep, you know j Dub Jaylen Williams.
He's getting better and better. Like I can hang my hat.
We're on our way. We're on our way. We're on
our way. Jordan didn't get there, you know, until he
was twenty like eight or something like that, twenty seven eight,
and so I could be able to like hang my
hat on that. Yeah, whereas differ, it's like because now
(28:50):
Diver has created themselves where they're now at championship or bus.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
I guess what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, no, they are.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
They're at that place where what's the ball? Okay, we
got to Westcount's final we lost. They're the place where yokis?
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Is that right?
Speaker 4 (29:00):
We're just trying to win rings and MVPs until he
can just have this, you know, fifteen year, twenty year career.
We look up and go he was a top ten player,
top twelve whatever it ended up being.
Speaker 5 (29:08):
For sure.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
Yeah, okay, see I can sell myself and my fan
base on we one year away, one year away, now
we got it. We had to go through a bumps
and bruise a couple of times, I think Denver because
let's say they lose, all right, stuff starts happening here.
You said it earlier. You get rid of Michael Porter Junior. Yeah, okay,
he's gone. Now it's another one of your core guys
going all right, Jamal Murray?
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Is this is this? Is he not two enough? Meaning?
Is he not strong enough?
Speaker 5 (29:32):
Too? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (29:34):
You gotta start having these uncomfortable You already let your
you let your coach go, you let your GM go,
and you might start thinking, all right, maybe Jamal ain't
two enough. You know, he's not our pipp and he's
not our young Kobe to Shack. You know, he's not
our you know. Yeah, yeah, I mean ever been an
All Star, which he's All Star talent, but obviously in
the West. But but but maybe it's time to, you know,
(29:55):
see what else out there for sure. And I think
they're gonna they're gonna do that anyway. I mean, this
team is almost to the point where you have to
break it up anyway. And so when you bring up
the point of what you're saying, I could see that
and I understand it, and I, like I said, it's
a valid one one of those ones where it's like
I just you know, okay, see was overwhelmingly out there
and they destroyed every guy. Yeah, the team the team
(30:17):
to beat. All right, Last Call eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox. Last Call, We'll take a call and
been a bunch of different topics. Carry weed on today,
and I'm sure it's a lot of people want to
get in on a couple that couldn't get into Uh,
we'll do that again. Also, there was a list let's
do some pocket watching. Oh, let's Washington pockets. They got
the top ten highest paid athletes. We'll tell you who
(30:37):
they are. It's the Odd Couple. Kelvin Washington carry in
for Rob Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
It's last call time on the Odd Couple. If you
had a take and couldn't get in all show, where's
your chick? You'll call it your ninety nine on Fox.
Hurry up, Robin Kelvin gotta get out of here. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with
Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern
(31:01):
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
App Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
Huh dj Ali Ali al Ali X dj Ali Alex
on the Ones and twos on a funky flashback Friday,
One more time for you boys, the odd couple. That's right,
kelvin Washington, Carry rose Man joined doing the show with you.
Had a good time, sir Carrie, And for Rob Rob
out there enjoying, uh some Yankees mets right now six
to one, bottom of the eighth couple runners on for
(31:30):
the Yankee soul. Looks like they should should seal the
deal here. We'll have to wait and see. And speaking
of Carrie, my gosh, man, you know this. We knew
it was a tall task for the Celtics to win.
Thought they had enough talent to win. Of course, yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Not.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Torzingis came out trying his best, had a couple of
buckets blocking shots. You're like, all right, yep, I don't
know what illness he's been dealing with. Man, he can't breathe.
But I did not expect it to be eighty to
forty three. My god, Yeah, this is this is this
is going down bad. This might be a Boston massacre.
I mean, this is just I got a question for you.
Speaker 7 (32:10):
Yeah, so yesterday you had a very eloquent, very well
thought out take. Most because I agree with you about
Jimmy Butler and you were very disappointed that he did
not empty the clip in games?
Speaker 5 (32:19):
Was it four and five?
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yep?
Speaker 7 (32:20):
So Jalen Brown is probably the only player in Boston
right now who is quote unquote empty the clip. Taking
seventeen shots, he had eighteen points. He also has seven turnovers,
so it's not affecting, you know, emptying the clip in
a positive way. Are you happy that he's trying to
or are you upset that he's being reckless about No,
I'm actually happy he's has the seven turnovers.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
That means he's being aggressive, right, They're not like casual,
lazy turnovers. He's trying to force the issue, so trying
to make something happen.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Yes, yeah, yeah, I absolutely have no problem with the turnovers.
I absolutely have no problem with the shot selection. Yeah,
I'm disappointed. Maybe maybe he's the person I'm about the
name here. Maybe he's just reached that point where you know,
he's just now a Maybe I'm still high on him
more than the reality is Drew Holliday. Oh yeah, I
(33:11):
feel like Drew Holliday could have produced more. I feel
like clearly something's wrong. Porzingis because if Porzing, perzingis is
eighty percent of himself. I think we're in a different
game because I think you're looking at a guy that
can put up twenty.
Speaker 7 (33:25):
News report hits sometime this offseason about what was really
going on. It's gonna think it's gonna blow people's mind.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
I do too, seriously.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
I think Porzingis not being him was huge because you're
banking on that. Okay, I have an all star caliber
guy in Porzingis, going up with an all star guy
within six Man of the Year Pritcher, with a Derek White,
who's one of my favorite just role versatile players in
the league, you know what I mean, Just that kind
of guy. And then you got Howser, you got Hordford,
you got enough guys who could do things that you're
(33:53):
feeling like, all right, we got we have offensive talent.
But I also think after this loss and it's lost
not only just this game, but the series and the
way they performed, I think they need to go back
and on not not gonna be in a difficult situation
because Tatum might not come back to the end of
the year.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Next year, however, points still remains.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
I think Missoula needs to go to a different school
and the School of SII to switch it up.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
It's okay. They try to do it.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
At the end of the first half, there was a
play there was like twenty seconds left. The inbound it
to Jaylen Brown and he looks downloaded. It was a
great set, actually, because what the set did was it
emptied out everybody in the paint except Drew Holliday posting
up Jalen Jalen Brunson and Jayalen Bruns had no choice
but the follow becau Drew Holliday would demolish him down
the Drew Holliday can body up some sinners draws, file
(34:45):
goes the free throw line. I've been screaming to Rob
and Rob that Drew Holliday can post up Jalen Brunson easily.
I've been screaming Jason Tatum is more than a three
point shooter, of course, and then I have sets where
you get him in great advantages on the elbow and
I'm gonna scream this is my last point. I'm talking
to you here. To carry Luca Tatum, Anthony Edwards a
(35:08):
little bit. He gets there more. Some of these young guys, Polo,
Ben Carroll, He'll do it some, but he needs more
start at the elbow. Carlmelo, Anthony, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Kawhi, Leonard,
Dark Novisky, guys made a living at the elbow. Dark
Novisky at the elbow is are not dirt. Luca at
the elbow is a problem. Yeah, that's two dribbles in
(35:31):
a layup. Yeah, easy, that's the Oh my god, send
a double team an easy corner three for somebody else.
That's an easy step back. Little Joe starting at forty
feet every time go pick or that to pick one?
Good Jo, Give me another pick now, shot clocked down
to seven. Yea, Luca needs to start. And I say
the same to Tatum starting at the elbow. Kawhi Leonard
killed the league for like three years, starting.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
At the elbow.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
Yeah, yeah, no, no, no, I mean the whole thing
about jew Holiday is the way they play offense. He's
not expected to do that now, and so I lost it.
So now you ask him to be put in the
position to do that, he cannot do it. You can't
just you can't just go into a game without any
muscle memory to do that thing. And so yeah, Drew
looks like a shell of himself as an offensive player.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
And he's not though. That's relegated to Hey, just be
three and d guys. Yeah, Drew Hollie can get to
the rack and body up. And I hope Joe Mizula
realizes it's okay. Look at some of these teams right
now that are left well.
Speaker 7 (36:26):
I mean, friend, it's for tonight's game. It's not just
a schematic issue. None of their guys had it tonight.
Holliday and Whiter could my four for eighteen. Yeah, that's
not gonna do it. Like you could have him running
exactly what you want, but if he can't throw the ball.
Speaker 4 (36:40):
In the value as you Rob rob g because if
I have what I'm doing what they want, my.
Speaker 7 (36:45):
Brother, they're down by forty points. I mean, all the
scheming in the world ain't gonna help you. Right now, man,
I'm about to scheme on.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
Hey, we'll be down by Sam with the show with
Mike Harmon is coming up next.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
I never missed your radio show. I never hear it,
so I never miss it.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
Did you hear that?
Speaker 9 (37:03):
I
