I have a good time. You're over here. I'm enjoying myself, too, old, baby,
you know what, I'm actually glad I'm here because you
and Rod would have been here. That has just been
(00:48):
three hours of Mets Yankees talk. What's wrong with that?
Oh yeah, nothing wrong with that? Yeah, nothing wrong with that.

(01:08):
we got Mark Fucky cole Madina. He's gonna join us
at the bottom of the hour. We'll talk some more
hoops with him. Speaking of hoops, we're getting ready for
this tip off of the Celtics, the Yankees hosting the Yankees,
the next hosting the Celtics. Too much New York talk
right now, A lot, yeah, and a big, big, big game.
And if you're the Celtics, maybe you feel like we
(01:28):
got something going. You got the whole do it for Tatum.
And I say this with the utmost respect similar and
it's not the same instance at all. But when we
saw when the late great Kobe Bryant passed and Lebron
and the whole crew say we're gonna do this for
Cob and it turned into you know, doing it for Mamba.
So again, Jayson Tatm's fine, he's recovering. So I don't
want to equate it to but what I mean is
(01:49):
you kind of have that thing you want to do
it for.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Well, there is a there is a like a lateral
type of I guess comparing situation here that kind of
it's taking place in real time where Tatum, Kobe was Tatum.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
That was his hero, that was his hero. He was,
he was a big supporter.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
They actually showed that they both hurt their achilles at
the same time in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Also, so even that spirit.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Around that part of it, it's it's it's a real
thing that you're breathing around.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
No, it is, no, it is, No, I believe you.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
But the reason why I said this because that's the
last name we need with Tatum, okay, because Tatum does
not he's not mister originality, okay, right, and so the
last thing we need for him is to start channeling
this Kobe would have did. And this is what Kobe
would have said, if our team wins and if we
want to do it for me, I'm mamba. I mean, oops,
I'm Jason. Like, we don't need him. We don't need
him doing that, you know what I mean? Because that
(02:37):
man is like what will Steph have said here with
Kevin Garnett have said here? With what Kanye West have
said here? I don't know I people to said to
Kanye one, but yeah, no, he would he did. He
literally what he did with Kanye the Kanye Uh was
it the what they're gonna say?
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Now?
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yeah he did the what? Yeah, I guess we'll never
know that's what it was. I guess we'll never know.
He like literally took every Congress like anything. Somebody wants
him big. He took it because they want him to.
They want him to be a certain way, they want
him to respond in a certain way. So I'm sure
he's just giving the people what they want more than
him being unriginal.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
I think he low key might be Kawhi Leonard and
we just don't want to acknowledge that.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
That's my point, Like, yeah, you don't have to have
a personality, I guess.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
To be really good at basketball.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
I mean, you know, Tom Brady did not have a man.
We just want to you know, I don't know. We
just played football and we just we win. We're on
a Cincinnati Like, No, he didn't have a personality at all.
Tom Brady was right beyond boring until finally he got
free of of Bill.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
We're like, oh, Tom's kind of wild and a little crazy.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Okay, I didn't know exactly, Jason Tay, he has a
little quiet.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
I mean, I can't even answer that.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Even I can't even see you right now, right right,
I can do that every day in my life is
the greatest thing, all right, what do you do this game?
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Though?
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Also we got the game we just saw last night
actually is what I wanted to bring back with you.
Jamal Murray, who had been dealing with the illness, goes,
it goes crazy for them, twenty five points. It was
scoring a lot early for them. It's kind of settling
them in the game. That a huge channel run that
kind of got really got it going for them. Now
they're heading to a game seven. Were you making him
(04:20):
that that win for the Nuggets?
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Yeah, no, Denver, that's the heart of a champion, right,
they just wanted two years ago. Their nucleus is still
the same. They've lost some you know, some some contributors
along the way, obviously that's how it goes. But same
club guys that wanted are there. They know how to win.
They're not scared of okay See. Okay See is a
team that's almost like, I don't want to say they're
Cleveland yet because they're still in it but regular season
(04:43):
And me and Massie actually talked about this earlier a
couple of days ago.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
Where are they.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
A regular season team until okay See shows that they
can get past real competitive teams, winning counts and they're
not getting foul calls, then we'll we'll, we'll see. But
as far as Denver goes, they you just know how
to win, and they have the best, the best player
in the NBA on the team.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Something. Y'all gonna quit calling that SGA the James Harden. No,
you can't.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
You watch how he You see how pedestrian he looks
in this in this in this second round.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
The man had thirty two points last night. You called
him pedestrian. Pedestrian thirty two, pedestrian thirty Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
No, he doesn't look like he doesn't look like the
guy that we were saying that's the unanimous MVP at
one point that that's not who's planning this series, is it?
Speaker 4 (05:24):
You would have thought they were playing the Mavericks.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
The way you acted, I don't even know who you
are right now, the way you acted right now.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Yeah, I've always I've been on record saying I think
sta is No, no, no, you have.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
We've done a few shows and you keep bringing that up.
If Carrie Roads ain't nothing else, carry Roads consists.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
You don't like unethical basketball, I do not.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
There you go, No, I'm a really you know, I'm
all wait, so who are you going for tonight, because
I know you're not going for Jaylen Brunton. If that's
the case, I am not because my man is a
foul bait. He wasn't like that at dallasy. He's picked
up some of that whole in the way. Yeah, as
you know, I was watching with the Pistons specifically. Yeah,
I've never wanted to drive to an arena so bad.
It was like ready to crash out as a kid,
(06:04):
say that I might not make it home.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
No, no, no, no stupid. Yeah, I gotta go do
something stupid. No.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Jalen Brunton is the king of that right now, which
is well gatting Luca you talked about yes as well. Yeah,
we'll get a little bit more of that series conversation
next hour, as there's a something I'm gonna throw at
you there as well. All right, so this is interesting.
I threw this out to Mike Hill last hour. If
you didn't hear it, go check out the podcast. We
had Mike Hill as a guest and we kind of
had a conversation there. During an appearance on the Bill
(06:32):
Simmons podcast, you got the WNBA commissioner Kathy Engelbert, and
she had a few things to say.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
One of the things she talked about was this, it is.
Speaker 6 (06:40):
A balance, but she's a generational talent. No league is
ever about one player, but in this case, Caitlin broought
tens of millions of new viewers into the w and
there's no denying that impact, not just in the WNBA
but the world of sports. Adam and I took all
the time about she's a most popular athlete in America.
But again, you do want to balance it because obviously
it saw what happened with Juju wacked In's you know,
get you want to balance making sure that you're also
(07:03):
promoting your other stars like an Asia Wilson, like a
Breonna Stewart, and a Fisa Collier. That's why this year
sustaining game, sustained the momentum we had last year and
gain even new new viewers.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
All Right, I'm gonna we're gonna get to that. We're
gonna work in backwards.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
So the first point she made, we're gonna come back
to that talking about the you know, biggest athlete in America. Well,
we'll come back to that in a second. I do
want to have a conversation about sustain and gain Rob
and I have sat here a few times talking about
his favorite sport in the world, which is a w NBA.
He never misses a game, And for me, I know
that I'm a basketball fan, so I sincerely can look
(07:40):
at you, look at anybody and tell you I actually peak.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
I keep it. I'm gonna act like I watch every
game go.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
I went to the game last year, saw Kaitlyn Clark
came to play the Sparks. Took my daughters. It was
good to see her. She had a huge shot to
put them up five to pretty much ice the game.
It was It was fun. So I do think there's
something that they have an advantage that I won't say
that the NBA doesn't have in the sense of the
NBA obviously is superior right now as far as ratings
and all that and notoriety, but the fact that you
(08:08):
end up knowing their players. And I was talking about
this earlier on the phone with Rob g Dude, the
last two years you know more they're the ladies going
in the draft going to the w NBA than you
do the players in the heading two of the NBA.
You know, Cooper flag that might be where you can
plant your flag that's about it, you know.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
What I mean. You might know one or do that's it.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Whereas they're a handful of players coming from college w
into the WNB Oh, I know her, No, Page Backer's okay,
I know her.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
I know her.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
And so what happens is there's some sustainability where you
get into you like, oh, shoot there's paging.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
Oh Juju is gonna get ready to be coming up right. Oh,
there's Andrew.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Reese, there's obviously Caitlyn Clark, the FISA Collier. I mean,
you start to know some of these players because you've
seen them. Of course, they had competitive games. Their tournament
has been fun to watch as well. So I think
Cameron Brink being another one obviously listening ye when she
comes back, that's another great one. When she comes back,
Breonna Stewart, so on and so forth. So I think
(09:06):
there is a chance to sustain it as long as
one of the points is they have to fully embrace it.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Now.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
I know you want to make sure you prop it
up everybody, but you have to fully embrace the Caitlin
Clark experience.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
And I like it too. Right around nineteen.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Eighty nine ish, when you start to realize I right this.
Michael Jordan, dude, he might be it. So we might
want to go ahead and say, like Mike Kazak and me,
like Mike ballpark hot dogs, you might with gatorade. You
want to get everybody going and get it Energizer money,
Spike Lee and the Jordans. We're just gonna ride this
(09:43):
train and it's gonna be the high tide that lifts
all And I think that's to me, they need to
fully embrace it, and by day I mean everyone, players, commissioners, owners, everyone.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
I think the only reason there was even puts back
to that idea at first was just the way it
was presented to us. I think on the when you
look at it as a brand and you have these
these women who have lay you know, paved the way
and really went to war and won championships and you know,
starting to get deals, and you know, you had Asia
Wilson and that team that was already winning and you know,
(10:17):
and winning championship, not just balling right, and so you know,
to implement somebody who hadn't taken a shot yet in
that league to the lights that she was at. I
think that was the reason that was so much pushback
early but as far as what you're saying, and it
shouldn't be that way now because she's kind of put
herself in that culture. She's been just one of the women,
(10:38):
and she's down with that, and she's letting her play
do the talking. Like we can look at her and
say she's a special player. She's deserving of that. And
I think that's part of why it was a little
pushback early on.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Here's the thing, though, Yeah, I get them, the immediate
pushback should have been on the court. What I mean
by that is, I don't care if you Michael Jordan,
I'm Magic Johnson, come a step, let's go. I am
Larry Birr, young fellow weed the ones getting these rings.
You ain't did none yet, you did not know. You
dropped sixty on us, but you ain't winning. So I
that's that should be, and that should consist no matter
(11:09):
what right I'm trying to bust her head tonight, of course.
But what happens is, and this is why when Steven A.
Smith gets one hundred million dollars, Kelvin Washington doesn't go.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
I don't go, oh man, he ain't worth it. He
ain't that good.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
I'm like, great, because now I look at it and
say the barometer like, oh, there's a possibility that you know,
and again maybe I never get it, but there is
a possibility of that. And what angel Asia Wilson is
absolutely the better player as we sit here and speak today,
without of doubt, was and currently is and we'll see
you up the upcoming year. But I think part of
(11:42):
Caitlyn coming in getting everyone watching, getting everyone talking controversy,
which is good, by the way, right Kevin, we're talking
about it now wall eyes are on. And what happened
was people were staying to your point, hey what about Asia?
And now Asia Wilson's shoes sold out in five minutes
to the two and that we were looking to maybe
consider getting some of my d oh, they're gone house
(12:02):
even going.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
Man, they got a size ten.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
I don't know what that is, females that are like
twelve and women's I don't know what it is, but
I might have to get some and they sold out.
My point is it's because of how great Asia is
first and foremost. But now hey, we got all eyes on,
people are having conversations. They're saying we need to highlight
and you know, maybe we do need to continue the
highlight of the players, and I just think it all helps,
is what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
People are watching.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
So the other part of that, again she said, was
Kaylor Clark is the biggest uh sports figure in America.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Stop the second age, Ken, I'm not even letting you
get to the point.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Let me go first.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
This is the problem, and this is why there is
so much heat when it comes to these type of topics. Right,
let's just say she's she's the best women's player out
there and she's the most popular. Why do you have
to compare it? The two aren't the same. The NBA
has always been the more popular. And even if you
talk about outside of basketball, you talking about football's not
(13:00):
more popular than Tom Brady or I know he's not
currently playing it. She's not more popular than Patrick Mahomes.
Like that's not that part doesn't matter though, Like why
are we trying to compare her? And that's that's why
I get upset. Just let her before I'm tired. Stop signing,
red light, stop sign yield everything. You hit me with
all of it. But okay, I will say this.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Yeah, what's the biggest sport in America?
Speaker 1 (13:27):
The biggest sport in America? The NFL agreed obviously, Dug.
I don't think you can name me three players that
are bigger than her outside. I'll give you two. Patrick Mahomes,
Lamar Jackson. I don't think Lamar Jackson is more popular
than her. What how I think Lamar Jackson is more
popular in her for guys who people who are football people.
But to broader America, if I just took America as
(13:50):
a whole, whether you're a football fan, nonfolk, just to
just what if I just pulled up on people, I
think more and I showed you a picture of them,
I think more people would know Caitlyn Clark than they
would Lamar Ja Okay, Lamar, I'll say, okay, take out Lamar.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
Patrick Mahomes, No, you keep him in there. That's what
you feel. Lebron James, Steph Kurt like about all sports, right,
I don't think you can get past four or five.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
But that's but that point is at least it's been debatable,
meaning all right, if I'm up in five, it ain't
like she's fifteen. No, Lebron Steph, I'm completely he Patrick
Mahomes completely agree. I didn't think about this one, so
I got to give credit to rob g robb Gi,
this is me giving you credit. I wanted to till
it Aaron Rodgers because I just think he's been around
(14:34):
so long and just everybody kind of knows him. Outside
of that, I mean, no, I think he's really popularing great,
So this isn't like a bashing of that at all.
I don't think there's a baseball player, no, no baseball
that is more popular O Tony. Nope, you'll think globally,
she said in America? Did she She did? Right, rob Gi?
(14:55):
She said America. Robb Gi ain't listening nothing, saying Robbie
has had enough. We listen to me, she said, America
to be confirmed, right exactly, Okay, old Tony globally without
a doubt. Okay, but in America, Old Tony can walk
around Kansas and they would they would, They would just
be like, hey, he's pretty tall.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
No, maybe he's six foot four. That's about it.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Well, her comments, which she's the most popular and she
isn't okay, but it wasn't the craziest thing at first.
At first I felt like I was like hold on,
and then I was like.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Hold on. She might be honest, and so.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Is Kayln Clark I mean I named four people that
I agree were easily those Steph Lebron, Pat Mahomes, robb
G said Aaron Rodgers. I'll give him that. It wouldn't mind.
You were talking about current, not q Q rating. Michael
Jordan is Michael Jordan. If you go Tiger Woods, we're
going current. And are we missing anybody?
Speaker 3 (15:57):
I mean Travis Kelsey would be up there as well,
just because of his girls. Well part of it, you know,
part of that interesting one. Yeah, that's an interesting one.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Eighty seven seven
ninety nine on Fox? Is Caitlyn Clark? Maybe you think
she is the most popular American athlete in America? I
should say I don't think she is, but I do
think she might be rounding out the top five. Are
we missing anybody? No, she's up there?
Speaker 4 (16:21):
Are we wrong? Maybe?
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Is there a baseball players? Aaron Judge, I think she's
more popular than thereon Judge, That's what I'm And he's
in New York. He's a Yankee.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
That's crazy. What about soccer? It's worldwide, That's what she said.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
America in America eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox?
Speaker 4 (16:38):
Are we wrong?
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Could she be the most popular American athlete? Or is
she top five? Is where I have her? Right around there?
You have about a Rod about the same Yeah, eight
seven seven ninety nine On Fox, It's the Odd Couple.
Carrie Rose, Infra Rod Parker, kelvin Washington, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
That's I'm name right, but I'm still riding it. Oh boy,
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
Here we go.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
When I got home last night? What happened? What heaven?
He went on love to?
Speaker 1 (17:19):
It was just tire a'ste Odd Couple kelvin Washington, Carry
Rose and for Rob On at Funky Flashback Friday. Speaking
of Funky, we got Mark Funky Comedina coming up here
in just a few minutes. I want to take a
few more calls real quick on a conversation we were
having for over forty years. By the way, tire Rek
has been helping customers find the right ties for how,
(17:40):
what and where they drive, ship fast and free back
by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like
mobile tire installation will come out to you tire rack
dot com the way tirebind should be.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Carrie and I were having a conversation.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
You have the WNBA commissioner saying that she believes Caitlin
Clark is the most popular athlete in America. Yeah, and
we said, well, you said hold up real quick and
and told her to stop. But I didn't disagree with
you that it is a handful more. But I thought
she might not be outside the top five. And uh,
that's the conversation we're having where she rank in that.
(18:15):
All right, let's take some calls A seven seven ninety
nine on Fox. We're gonna go to Troy in South Dakota. Troy,
you're over the at couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (18:22):
Here's the reason why I think Kaylen Clark is my
farther and most popular. So all the sports are not
so they know, you know, the guys watch football and basketball,
they know Kaylen Clark is. But the people who also
know who Kaylen Clark is, my grandma, my niece, people
like that. You know, all these young kids they all know.
Like that opens it up to a whole demographic of
people who have no idea who Lamar is. Or or
(18:44):
Steph Curry or Lebron.
Speaker 5 (18:46):
Something like that. That's why.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
That's why, Troy, Troy, I was with you, But now
I got to hit you with hold up because everything
you said makes sense. Sands for Lebron and Steph Curry
and to me, Patrick Mahomes, those three I cannot give
you right. Here's why. And Monty's making a face. You're
making a face about Patrick Mahomes. Here's why, Moncy. He's
(19:09):
been the face of the biggest sport for too long.
He's been in super Bowls and guess what your grandma
went to Super Bowl, a super Bowl party. Guess what
granddad hosted a super Bowl party. So I I those
are the three Lebron just simply twenty something years. He's
literally there's no debate about Lebron and they've verd debated Lebron.
Come on, now, that's just crazy. Are you trying to
(19:30):
debate the.
Speaker 8 (19:32):
I'm waiting for you to finish.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
I've been Patrick Mahomes to me of the three that
I just absolutely you gotta throw Kelsey in there as well.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
I don't care what you say either. He has another
fan base now that does. The Little Birl is only
a specific fan's only girls.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
That's only the guys that already know and the Super Bowl.
The same thing you just said about Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
But grandma might not know Patrick has been the quarterback
of these teams.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
But I'm not Travis Cat. I'm not mad at that. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (19:59):
If I told my friend and Natalie, do you know
who Patrick Mahomes is, she'd be like, put.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Some money on it, put some money on you. No,
if you shout, I agree, if you just you're right,
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 8 (20:09):
But I say Clark should be like that basketball girl.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
Showed the picture Patrick Mahomes again, but she.
Speaker 9 (20:13):
Really won't know if I even worse, if I showed
her a picture, even worse, if I showed her a
picture but just on the name, she'd be like Kaylyn Clark,
the basketball girl.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
I think she would know Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 8 (20:23):
No, I've had I don't want to talk Nali Colin
right now.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
I don't want to talk to you any more.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
To you text her and don't leave the witness by
the way you know it is.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
I'm getting hold on. I'm coming to you in a minute.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Okay, let's go to Kevin and Kob City Kevin, you're
on with the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
What you got, keV all the time?
Speaker 5 (20:46):
In my very Bond's voice, shame on you, Shame on
all of you.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
How are you gonna have this?
Speaker 5 (20:51):
Listen?
Speaker 4 (20:52):
I have my girl, Simon Biles there.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
Simon Biles is American, Apple far American.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
That's a fair one fair and that's why we ask
every grandma knows some mom Biles. I'm gonna throw my.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
Boy Freddie Freeman in there from the shot herd.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
See there you go, Kevin? How you go it? Kevin?
Speaker 1 (21:09):
How you go from American hero which I was with
you to this Saddie Freeman?
Speaker 4 (21:14):
You got the most recognizable home. You're right for baseball fans.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
I'm putting that man, Kevin, Hey, you gotta get you got?
Speaker 4 (21:25):
Kevin? You usually are like ant Man. Yeah, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
They literally would think you're talking about literally an man
the movie the movie. Yeah, all right about Paul Rudd.
All right, you know what, yeah, Manti, you better be
texting Natalie here.
Speaker 8 (21:38):
I'm not because I know that.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Because they know you don't know what she knows, what
she knows.
Speaker 8 (21:42):
She trust me, trust me.
Speaker 9 (21:43):
I do this to my friends all the time, I
asked him, do you guys know who Aaron Judges or.
Speaker 8 (21:46):
Do you know who Kaitlyn Clark is? And they were like,
killing Clark's the basketball girl. Aaron Judge, I think he
plays a sport.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Literally, I believe you. I don't. That's why I think
it's remarkable. There's no baseball player.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
I don't think there's a single baseball player that will
be more popular than than her. All Right, we got
Mark Fucky Comdino on the other side. Maybe we'll ask
him this question as well. But right now it's Natalie's friend.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
Man.
Speaker 8 (22:09):
Didn't this the sound?
Speaker 9 (22:12):
Doesn't she say Kaitlin Clark is the most popular under thirty?
Speaker 8 (22:15):
Doesn't she say that?
Speaker 4 (22:16):
I didn't hear that.
Speaker 9 (22:18):
She says it later, so she says under thirty, Okay,
thirty three, by the way, I'm just.
Speaker 8 (22:24):
Yeah, So she does say under right, she says.
Speaker 9 (22:27):
Under thirty, and like, I think I think there is
some truth to be under thirty.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
I might have to concede. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (22:33):
But also even if we don't say that Kaylin Clark
is is a Tiger Woods phenomenon.
Speaker 8 (22:40):
Tiger Woods made golf cool. She's making w NBA. I
agree with you it's like very few. I do think
more people know.
Speaker 9 (22:50):
Her name and maybe know nothing about her, but that
name is some people are like, I've heard that name.
I really truly feel like name's account.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Yeah, that's what I said.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
I only three people I would give you over that
and I you know, and some my own Biles was
a great one that's.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Been doing for some for quite some time.
Speaker 8 (23:09):
Is that in America?
Speaker 4 (23:11):
But that's what we're talking about.
Speaker 8 (23:12):
Oh, because I feel like Kaitlin Clark is beyond America.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Well, some biles are definitely a world sport. I would
argue Simons more global than Kaitlin.
Speaker 2 (23:23):

Speaker 4 (23:41):
Mark what up brother?
Speaker 5 (23:43):
Hey, Calvin? I know it's going to be a good
sports conversation with you and Kerry because part.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Of it, yeah, have you hey, listen, you ain't wrong
when you're right? Hey, real quick man? Put a button
on this. Kaitlin Clark top five, maybe the most popular
athlete America to you.
Speaker 5 (24:00):
Oh wait, most top two American athlete of all sports. Yes,
of all time?
Speaker 1 (24:07):
No, not all time? No, no, no, right now, current current
and they have to be current. Mean it can't be
Michael Jordan. It can be Shack or something.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
Yeah, I mean up there. But you know Steph Curry,
Lebron James, right, dak brou I'll put her in the
top five.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
But now number one, all right, Yeah, we're on the
same page.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
But later the WNBA commissioner said she followed it later
and said under thirty and we start talking under thirty,
she might be onto something there.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
I mean that.
Speaker 5 (24:32):
Oh good, that is a good one.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
Under thirty might be something. All right, So Mark, let's
talk about it man. Right now.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
You got a close game here in New York, Celtics
coming off that.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Big win in Game five. Uh, what do you make
of this series so far?
Speaker 1 (24:45):
And can't and is this a game where the Celtics
can actually win this game and then maybe win this series?
Speaker 5 (24:53):
Well, this thus can certainly win it. I don't think
they are because the Knicks are control of the series
or at home you know, home courts. You be the
most electric atmosphere in MSc history, even over the Willis
Reid moment because of the stakes of the game. But
you know, they didn't put a good, pretty good formula
in game five with just going all out and you know,
having Derek White race his game to another level. But
(25:15):
I think that, you know, that's usually a short term
fix with how teams rise to the occasion when their
star players hurt. I don't think that they can replicate
in game six, especially because Jalen Brunson is such a
clutch player. Yeah, their offense might balk down at times,
but Jalen's are pretty consistent.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
All right, Mark, it's your boy carry roads in the.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Hey.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
When you were talking with Monty, you were the only
voice of reason here being high on the nugget.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
I oh, it's all good, it's all fun and games.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
But you know, it's crazy about that series because that's
the one I want to talk about. It's it's okay.
See right now in this position, it's two years in
a row. They've been the winner of the of the
regular season. There comes a point where in the playoffs
the files aren't as easy. You don't get as many
points at the free throw line that you did like
they did in the regular season. Do you think that's
(26:10):
effecting their play more than the actual Denver team is
at this point. I think it's something about that energy
about for me, that kind of screens like they're used
to getting calls and they're not getting them.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
What about What do you think about that, Mark Mark?
Speaker 5 (26:24):
I think it is a factor, and it's a you know,
when young teams go through the playoffs, they have to
adapt to it. When you talk to the Thunder, even
during the regular season, even though Shay Goojis Alexander led
the league in free throw attempts, they weren't always they
weren't gained a lot of attempts as a team, and
so it's even more challenging in the NBA playoffs because
of physicality. But I would still give more creds to
(26:48):
the actual Denver nuggeting team when nikolea Jokicic being the MVP,
cansad the is Jamal Murray coming back to life, Aaron
Gordon being a really clutch player on both ends of
the floor, that is with the free throws. But you know,
I just saw the news from Sham's Aaron Gordon might
be out for seven because of some uh you know,
hamstring worries here that those are injuries that you don't
(27:10):
want to mess around with, we know with Steph Curry
and you go down the line. But yeah, I think
it's just been really the Nuggets coming back to life
with planther Beth under David Adelman, Jamal Murray being healthier
and a better version of himself, and Russell Westbrook surprisingly
being effective for the most part. You add all those
things together and they are a much different team than
(27:32):
they were in the regular season.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Well, I think also too when you look at Okay,
see it's fun the kind of collegiate atmosphere they have
and a bunch of guys and line shifts and this
guy comes three four, you know. But at the end
of the day, I'm a need Moscottie Pippin, you know,
and I'm a need And you can't have Jay Dubb
as they call him. He can't be out here what
(27:56):
was it two three for fifteen, sixteen seventeen. Yeah, he
can't be out there head down and look like I
need you if your SGA he didn't even SG didn't
have a great game, by the way, by his standards,
but he still at thirty two thirty three percent shooting
for Williams and you you need that guy, right, You
need your Jamal Murray. If you're your kids, right, you
(28:18):
are Jalen.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
On the money. You look at the Thunder shortcomings last year.
What have to do with Jalen Williams not shooting the ball? Well,
you look at the Thunder success this year. Yeah, Shay
Gildas Alexander has put of MVP numbers. I think he'll
win MVP. But it's also Jayl Williams becoming an all star,
more consistent score. When you're looking at the Thunder, they
(28:42):
have a lot of depth, but one of the things
that separated themselves this season is they had that definitive
number two option and he saw that at times in
the playoffs, and he've also seen him disappear in the playoffs,
and they they can't afford that because Shay he's gonna
get his points, but he's also going to be a
marked man where he's not always shooting efficiently from the field.
(29:03):
And so Jaylen Williams, he not only does he have
to be a pretty good defender, he's got to be
the reliable scorer. I would also argue his scoring is
actually more important than his defense because they already have
a lot of great defenders when you look at Alex
Caruso and Wallace, a lot of great wing depths. So
if he's not bringing it defensively, well they got three
(29:25):
other options. But when you're looking offensively, it's Shay and
a lot of decent but not great scores. Jay Dobb's
got to be that guy. And because he hasn't been
that guy, they're in the predicament that they're in right now.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
Yeah, Mark, I mean yeah, outside of that series, obviously,
Minnesota's already cleaned there waiting for the winner of that game.
Everybody's now trying to say that, you know, maybe Minnesota,
Minnesota should be the team that's favorite to win the championship.
What do you stand on that right now?
Speaker 4 (29:52):
Mark?
Speaker 5 (29:54):
Yeah, it's wild because I would still give the advantage
to the Thunder if they advance, or the nu if
they advance, because they're more experienced. But look, the Timber
was other are the real deal. I know that, you know,
the Lakers and the Warriors will say, well, what if
Lebron James is fully healthier with the Warriors? What if
(30:14):
def Curry did andrew his hamstring? But I think in
a way that also diminishes what Minnesota has done. Anthony
Edwards an even more consistent score, better playmaker, better leader.
Julius Randall has been more of a better version of
himself of brute strength, great play making, great scoring instead
of bad decisions and emotions when things don't go his way.
(30:37):
And Rudy Gobert all of a sudden, he's not a
punchline anymore. He's an actual rim protector and a reason
why he's been getting DPOI awards. You add those three
players up, plus the fact they got a lot of
bench depth or complimentary player depth. Mike Conley, Nas Red,
Jaden McDaniels, all those players, great perimeter scores, they can
(31:00):
defend pretty well as well, and their team guys. So yeah,
I don't give the edge to them, only because the
Nuggets and the thunder have more experience. But you know what,
they've been playing I think the best playoff basketball out
of everyone because they've been more consistent than anyone else.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Well, hold on, I'll get you out of here on
this one.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
The Pacers might be saying, not too fast, what about
us David playing some great balls as well?
Speaker 4 (31:24):
Real quick for us Mark?
Speaker 5 (31:28):
Yeah, what about the pacers.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
The question again, the Pacers, I mean they're sitting there
saying we're already in these comes fids.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
We're just sitting here waiting. Chill. What about us? Mark,
talk about us?
Speaker 5 (31:37):
You are right? I mean, Tyree Sowerburn, he's not overrated,
he's underrated. He's best passer in the NBA, he's a
great leader. They have a lot of good chemist for
his Hoscal Siakam. But you know what, I'm still a
believer in the Knicks or the Celics that they prevail.
I think Indiana they played really well, but Cleveland they
were beat up. Wasn't fully one hundred percent. But yeah,
(32:00):
they're the real deal. This has been a very compelling
Playoffs series. I will just say that because what's ups
and down. There's been a lot of upsets. Favorite teams
that have gone flat, and you know, up and coming
teams are sulling making a mark. So what I'm getting that, guys,
Indiana runs a table. Not surprise anymore. But I'm still
favoring some of these more experienced teams.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
There you have it, Mark, appreciate you man. We'll see
what happens here. Nick's feeling good about this first quarter.
There's still a lot of basketball left. Mark Madeina, thank
you as always, brother, I have a go with Mark.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
I appreciate having an actually good basketball conversation.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
All right, Mark, thank you. Man Hey the Steelers. Well,
is Aaron Rodgers on the clock or nah? That is
the question, man? It is the Oco. But and covin Washington,

Speaker 4 (33:41):

that's a fair question. Here's the best part too.

Fernandez is La stories. That's right.

You know it's crazy growing up and you know what
it was, and then you see an understanding of the
reasons of the why.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
So now when I dropped this, that's what we're talking.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
When I dropped this album of me understanding the process
of the equilibrium vibrancy frequency of music and how it heals.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
Hey, that's all about right. So I see Robgie Alex,
I see this.
Speaker 1 (34:23):

This is asking me this and I didn't even bring
it up and now.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
Now you're on fire.
Speaker 10 (34:46):
It was an innocent story with one of the part
time people here. Now it became well, you know Oprah

Speaker 4 (35:29):
Here, yes, sir.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Now we come to find out that the Steelers legedly
may be willing to wait another six weeks for Aaron
Rodgers and for I'll tell you where I've been with this,
then I want to throw it to you.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
Me and Rob always different on this.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
I'm blown away to an organization that has been one
of the blue bloods that has been so successful and
even though they haven't had the Super Bowl success they
would have won of late, they at least still have
had winning seasons and they're competitive. Right for me, for
that organization to be waiting on a forty one year
old to be not having not waiting on him, but
got Justin Fields in the tuck. They got Mason Rudolph
in the tuck, right, okay, Mason, let me repeat, maybe
(36:05):
hear me, Mason Rudolph in the tuck.
Speaker 4 (36:08):
Yeah, he's ready, he's waiting. They don't have.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Somebody backing up, you know where they can say, man,
we're feeling good.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
We got Geno. Say they had Gino Smith yea, and
they want to upgrade.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Maybe they feel Aaron Rodgers better at the Okay, well, okay,
you got Geno.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
I'll get that, yep.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Or we kept Russell Wilson totally can understand that, Hey,
why not try to go get Aaron Rodgers for one
more year when we're two. Mason Rudolph is who you're waiting.
You haven't won a playoff game in eight or nine years,
and I just feel and you're in a division where
Joe Burrow in the game feels like, man, that was
an underachieving year. We can be better. Lamar Jackson might
(36:41):
have the best team in the football. And then you know,
the Browns are still competitive. I think they're better than
most people think exactly. So my point is you're waiting
on Aaron Rodgers, who's just I don't know what I'm
gonna do. Let me go to Racheats and see. And
I'm just blown away by that. And I've never been
a fan of how they're handling their quarterback situation. You
are thought they're willing to wait the six weeks. Yeah,
(37:01):
I you just said it.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
They got Mason Rudolph there, so they're gonna wait till
the last second. If if it's a it's a if
it's an option, then they're gonna wait. They're gonna wait
it out. I mean, they're in a position where there
aren't anybody. There isn't anybody else out there that they
can go to, so yeah, why not wait?
Speaker 1 (37:19):
And about how they got here though, Carrie, like you're Okay,
they got here, Like.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
No, I'm not. They should have kept justin fields. That
is in my opinion, you stream it is for a year. Yeah, yeah, no,
So yes, they made a mistake. So now they're hailed
at aar row point. And I want to say, so
they were held at that situation, right, and so they
have to wait for the guy that's the best option
out there, and that's Mats Aaron rodgers Man.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
And that to me is just crazy because this is
a team again that felt like, hey, we wanted to
make a deeper playoff run, maybe get back to the
super Bowl, but.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
We got a great defense. The defense it needs just
tighten up a little bit.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
But like, and your offense hasn't been great offensive line specifically,
and now you're bringing the guy's for forty two late.
I just to me, the math doesn't make sense, Like
why wouldn't you be building up the guy that can
be the guy of your future instead of just putting
it all on the line for one possible year with
a big Maybe Kevin Durant, he's doubling down.
Speaker 4 (38:13):
We'll tell you why. Fox Sports Radio
