his baseball on. You know how he does. This is
right around that season where he gets enjoyed different ballparks
and whatnot.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
I see he went to the best one today. Obviously,
I'm a Yankee fan, so I'm glad that he's.

Speaker 6 (00:51):
There at me. Obviously I didn't know that.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Well, hey, I'm telling you now, I am a Yankee fan,
and I am in the building. Okay, I'm happy, I'm happy,
all right? Good, Well, he is a closet Yankee fan.
He will never admit I'm.

Speaker 5 (01:01):
From the Queen. I should be a Mets. Nah you
a Yankee fan? Yeah, he wouldn't. He wouldn't admit it,
but he is. We got a big show lined up
for you. We got Mike Hill getting ready to join
us set around four thirty, looking for seven thirty if
you're on the East coast, looking forward to hearing what
he has to say on a few different topics.

Speaker 6 (01:18):
Mike Hill no strangers to this spot.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
And also we got Mark Funky Comadina gonna be coming
up at five thirty as well.

Speaker 6 (01:26):
I can't wait for Marko. I owe him something.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
Oh yeah, okay, yeah, all right, well stick around here
that is whatever that is. And so we got that
coming up for you as well. Plus of course a
funky flashback Friday, so we know Alex dj Ali Alex
is gonna be on the ones and twos if you
wanted us to go through we got of course, we
couldn't do the show with out my man Rob G
producer extraordinaire. Is actually doing what I need to be

(01:49):
doing right now, getting my lights all on now, I'm gonna,
like hat matter of fact, I'm gonna do this.

Speaker 6 (01:53):
So I'm gonna do this in a minute.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Carry don't juge me, right, I gotta lights alt everything now, no,
you judge, don't do that, you lights all everything, not ever,
just here stop. I'm not a well in an air airport,
like when you get in you see at the airplane airport.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Yeah, what I was comparing you is for several hours,
people screaming into the mix, people coughing their hands and
touch all this stuff.

Speaker 6 (02:15):
Come on, I thought you would be with me. I
want you to breathe in my mouth of your sick
raise my immune system. Oh my gosh, see this one
heard I did? He Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Yeah, First of all, I don't ever want to associate
with your mouth anything. Okay, that alone scared me. Right there?
We got Alex of course, engineer and Manti Bilanos is
gonna get you set on what's training that is? I
can't see it from me. There you are Manico? All right,
we got Manzi coming up as well. All right, let's
get into this. Uh some big news broke not too
long ago, Carrie. Uh Brock party is feeling pretty good

(02:48):
right now. It is because he just got the bag
a big time payday, and it's been a conversation people
have had now for really probably a year year and
a half of do your paying me? Is he the guy?
How do you do it? If he is? Here's the
details of this. It's gonna be five year contract extension
value that two hundred and sixty five million.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
Here's the real thing that matters, of course, one hundred
and eighty one million guarantee.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
I get to that part, and the agreement positions him
to basically make around fifty three dollars fifty three million
dollars a year, and so way to go from mister
irrelevant to mister fifty something million dollars a year. So
initial reactions from me, Carrie, Rob and I have been

(03:32):
sitting here, you know, the duration of me doing the
show with him joining the odd couple, and I've said
I'm going to pay him. Yes, I said, he's he's
done everything you've asked of him. And now the best
thing to me that happened, believe it or not, Carrie,
is a down season because to me, they could have
been worried saying, all right, we only saw you at
your peak. You kind of came into a good situation.

(03:54):
Maybe you caught while that, you know, struck whether the
iron was hot. We had a bunch of people here
and they got to see him at as low and realize, okay,
his low wasn't that low, and it consisted of us
having a lot of issues having some issues at the line,
having some issues with guys in and out of the lineup,
and some people will say, well, everybody gets people, has teams,
guys that are injured. I would argue, I'd rather you

(04:14):
almost be injured for ten weeks than two weeks here
and then out here, because then we have no fluidy.
If you're just out out, then at least we know
we can switch it up and now we know what
we're gonna do.

Speaker 6 (04:25):
When you're in, then you're out, But then he's out.
But then he's in but he's out. It throws you
off a little bit.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
So to me, I think they were able to look
at the peak of him, the low of him, and
then find him happy media and say, all right, if
that's his worst, we'll be okay. Because it's my job,
John Lynch, to supply him with everything he needs around him.
It's my job now to find the new debo, right,
It's my job solidify the offensive line some more, to
solidify some of the defenders that have left.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
That's my job.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
But if I saw him at his low and that
was it last year, which wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible,
I'll take that and in my last point here until
I talked to you to carry Here's some other reasons
why I like what I've seen from him.

Speaker 6 (05:01):
He's still very young.

Speaker 5 (05:02):
It seems like he's been around for so long, and
he's like twenty five, twenty six years old, so that
I know what I have now, and this goes through
twenty thirty, so I know what I have for the
next five years and then obviously could be longer if
we decide to do that again. But I look at
the list of guys who are making the most money.
So let's look at this. The highest paid quarterbacks in

(05:22):
the NFL on a per year base.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Have this list, Carrie, Oh, I know there's only two
people that you would absolutely say, okay, he's they're better
than him.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
The rest of me are debatable. Some is clearcut, he's
better than them. I'm gonna read this list off theen.

Speaker 6 (05:38):
I'll let you go. My brother Dak Prescott, as we own,
he's making the sixty million.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
We all reference they're equal or if not. And if
you're going based off resume, rock Perty's smoking him.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
Resume.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
Okay, Joe Burrow is the only person we go okay, Well,
I mean the only two Okay, he's better making fifty five.
Other person next up, Josh Allen making fifty Now Jordan
Love is debatable right now Brock Party's resume. He can say, dude,
I've been the NFC Championship games. I've been the Super Bowls.
I mean, what do you want? What more do you
want from me? Super Bowl? And then Trevor Lawrence at

(06:11):
fifty five, clearly he watches him. Tua at fifty three.
Tua's good. I think he's not that. I think it
Brocked Party. I'm feeling good looking him. I die. And
then Jared Goff, which I think is actually more of
the perfect comp you do.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Yeah, now that one I don't agree with, but go ahead, Fenus,
go ahead. And that's the list.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
So those are the lists of guys making equal or
more money, and I think only two people you can justify.

Speaker 6 (06:37):
Now.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
Obviously Pat Mahomes isn't an list, Lamar Jackson is, and
they'll get paid again. But I'm saying, as of right now,
if I'm brock Party and his agent, I'm saying, why
am I not getting paid?

Speaker 6 (06:46):
My resume is better than everybody on.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
This list except maybe Joe Burrow, and it says that
he's been to a super Bowl, but I used to
have a higher winning percentage of you. So who am
I looking at and saying, ooh, I can't you know,
I'm I'm worried to that I'm not as good as him,
So that would be my reasoning. I saw him at
his low, I've seen him at his high. I feel
comfortable with that. He's still young, and the money is

(07:09):
about right. You got to pay quarterbacks, period, and this
break fifty three million.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
It makes sense.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Everything he said is correct, except for the comparison of Golf.
I think, uh, Golf is a better quarterback. Golf has
been to the Super Bowl as well, he didn't win it,
and GoF is in a really good situation to keep
building on that and to you know, make all of
its stuff and everything he's earned valid.

Speaker 6 (07:31):
Right when I was saying, I was saying the cop
of career.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
No, I got liked like both in the Super Bowl,
both feders some winning successful runs for sure.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Yeah no, But it's one of those things where you
know what you sound like brock Perty's agent, that's what
you sound like.

Speaker 6 (07:42):
What you know my wife is a lawyer.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
There you go know, and everything you said would be
what would be presented to the team. And obviously he's
in a perfect situation, perfect time. It's always perfect time
in place, because if this was another year where there
was other quarterbacks out there that could rifle him or
make him expendable, then is a different conversation.

Speaker 6 (08:02):
Right now where we are and.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Where the league is period, there were no other quarterbacks
that you could take anyway. So if you have a
guy that you know, knows your system, has proven that
he can get you to the mountaintop, obviously hadn't won
it yet, right, And then you the point you just
made though this past year where things weren't perfect, did
he look great? No, but he looked good at times. Yep,

(08:25):
he looked serviceable. And you look like a guy that
even when things are at its worst, we can count
on this guy to be this guy. And he is
this guy right now, right, And so that's point blank period,
And it's the market. You can't that's the that's the part, right, Like,
you can't fight the market when you're one of the
you know, one of the No I would say top

(08:47):
tier size, yeah, you know, I like he's right there
and the market says this is your value you got
to get paid that way. And if I was him,
if they didn't pay me that way, I would have
left and tried to has that market to see because
somebody would be in need. There are teams out there
that could still use a quarterback, right, And so you
throw all those factors into play and put him in

(09:07):
this situation. You have to pay the man, and I
think it's a good move by ser Frances And.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
I don't even again, I don't think it's crazy because
typically this happens. And let's say he had even better season.
Let's say they didn't even have to go to the
super Bowl. But let's just say they were twelve and five. Yeah,
won the division twelve and five, Maybe they want a
first round of the playoffs, and then maybe even they lost. Well,
now he will be saying, look what I've done historically,
Look what I did this year. Now I want why,

(09:33):
why why can't I look at Dak Prescott and say
I deserve more than him? And you wouldn't have a case, right,
you'd have to go. So to me, this deal actually
is team friendly. When you're projecting out another five years.
It fits to me about where he is as far
as rankings, of quarterbacks in the league, so it's not
an asinine group of money.

Speaker 6 (09:54):
Now again, I've argued this with Rob.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
Rob.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
I wouldn't pay him for I'd let him go out
of all I might, Dude, quarterbacks don't grow on trees.
Quarterbacks who I can depend on, don't go tree quarterbacks.
I ain't never gotta worry about drama, right, don't grow
on trees. Who shows me he can win a game,
because that's what he did against the Lions in that
NFC championship and he came back and he led every
big first down. He got it with his legs, with
his arm, so he showed me he can do that

(10:17):
in bigs phases as well. And he's not good. He's
not perfect. You could fall throw to some games that
he wasn't great. No quarterback is right, and he also
was an MVP candidate the season before last. So to me,
it just makes perfect sense. The money, the timing, the guy,
the system and how you can move forward. You still
believe you're in your window. You only can be in

(10:37):
your window with the quarterback, and you got it. So
I think this is it makes sense. I'm not mad
and I'm happy. I congrats to him a last boy too.
What an amazing story. Literally, your nickname is mister irrelevant now,
autom money problems are irrelevant, nothing's irrelevant, now.

Speaker 6 (10:53):
Yeah, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Yeah, yeah, no, I mean it's one of those things where, yeah,
it's one of those rare acted riches stories. I'm sure
I don't know his background, his backstory where he can
I'm sure it's not right ex But when it comes
to the bottom of the totem pole in the NFL,
being that guy and working at the craft and winning
the job, That's what the NFL story is about, right.
If you wanted to preach it or tell any young
kid out there that they do have a chance if

(11:15):
they do it this way, he would be the postal
child for that one hundred percent.

Speaker 6 (11:19):
So to me, I think it makes sense.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Maybe we're wrong, Maybe Carry and I are the only
ones who feel this way. Eight seven seven ninety nine
On Fox Do you agree that the forty nine ers
and brock perty made the right decision?

Speaker 6 (11:29):
Was he the guy you want to move forwards with?
Is just someone better?

Speaker 5 (11:32):
Do you feel like he ain't worth the fifty three
million year one hundred and eighty one guaranteed eight, seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox will take your calls on that.
It is the Odd Couple, Kelvin Washington, Kerry roads in
for Rob Parker on a Funky Flashback Friday.

Speaker 6 (11:46):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio Apports Radio.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
It is the Odd Couple, Kelvin Washington, carry roads in
for Rob right now?

Speaker 6 (12:04):
Is at this game?

Speaker 5 (12:06):
You got the Mets taking on the Yankees Yankees Subway series,
and well Rob was literally on a subway. We'll leave
that alone. But man Wan Solo just runs out and
fans are going crazy. I mean they're turning their back.
They got signs. I can't read something. You're a clown.
There's a bunch of signs in there and they're flicking
them off, which all that is fine. Carry I'll just

(12:30):
say this as long as this is my this is
my problem with sports and fans. Literally the game just started.
Bottom of the fourth, he comes up, Manci he hits
a two run home run. Finally the inning's over. He's
back out in the outfield. My issue with fans is,

(12:50):
you know, someone's gonna throw something at them.

Speaker 6 (12:53):
Mark my words, Mark my words.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
Some drunk fans gonna throw beer, some batteries. You know,
they might even be so stupid as to throw their
car keys at them. And you know him right, And
this is what makes me crazy about fans. The signs,
the booing, the flicking them all. Okay, get it, that's
part of the course. And seven hundred million dollars man,
I could deal with that, yep. But somebody always takes

(13:16):
it too far. If he hits a home run or
something like that, somebody's gonna do something crazy. We got
a lot of time to watch this game and see
what happens, all right, Carrie and I talking about brock
Party feeling pretty good right now as he is now
the one hundred and eighty one million dollar guarantee, but
two hundred and fifty three million dollar man. And the
question is both of us are just not to put
words in your mouth? I think we both agreed this

(13:37):
was It worked out for both he and the team.
Everybody's happy to win win. It wasn't sixty five million
dollars something crazy. He was a perfect deal for the
next five years in my opinion, your opinion as well.
We want to see what you thought. Eight seven to
seven ninety nine on Fox? Did the forty nine Ers
and Brock Party get it right? It's the right deal
for him right now? Would you have done it? Would
you have not done it? Eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox? Let's go to Tim Tim and eight L Tim.

(14:00):
You're on with the odd couples Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (14:03):
Yo, what up, Kelvin?

Speaker 6 (14:04):
What's up? Chili?

Speaker 7 (14:06):
Chillie Chilly? That's right.

Speaker 8 (14:08):
You know.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
I've been a forty nine Ers fan since eighty two,
so yeah, you know, I'm a diehard. I think I
look and see what around the other quarterbacks like Kirk
Cousins and Dak Prescott and all these guys haven't done
anything close to what Rock Purdy has done. And I
think he's done a good semple size.

Speaker 9 (14:28):
And I think had he not gotten hurt, I think
we would have beaten the Eagles in that the conference finals.
I think we would have been in back to back
Super Bowl. So I think his body of work, I
think we've seen enough. As a forty nine fan, I'm
happy with it. I'm happy with.

Speaker 7 (14:42):
Him moving forward and considering some of the other quarterbacks
that are getting paid a whole lot more. I think
he's proven enough already.

Speaker 6 (14:49):
So yeah, let me ask you this real quick.

Speaker 5 (14:51):
For we let you got a lot of folks would say, oh, man,
it's just the system. It could have been anybody. Uh
that's what Rod would have said. You know all you
could replace him anybody. That's just what the they do.
Jimmy g got to a Super Bowl. What do you
say to that? Why are you okay specifically him? Do
you buy into that it could have been anyone else
with that talent?

Speaker 9 (15:09):
Well, you know, I.

Speaker 7 (15:10):
Think you do any quarterback like that. I mean you
think about some of these quarterbacks. They're always saying, well,
like even with Lamar Jackson's talent as he was, but
he got to get a receiver or he needs this.
So I think sometimes we give passes to guys who
have super talent and we just want to load them up.
And you take a guy like rock Birdy Party and
they say, well, it's the system, So okay, it worked

(15:32):
for the system, and he's still not asking a whole lot.
It's better to just pay the coach rather than try
to load up in all these other players, So you
come out a lot cheaper, just fitting, you know, letting
the system work around him than trying to load up
with a bunch of Prima Donna wide receivers and all.

Speaker 9 (15:48):
This other stuff. So hey, yeah, all right, I say.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
It works, Jerlie bro I appreciate the call. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. Will take a few more.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
And it's crazy because their ultimate quarterback in San Francisco
in their history is a guy who wasn't that talented
and didn't have a strong arm, was in a system yep.
Quote that quote, and that's Joe Montowna. So you know, obviously,
Joe Montowanna, you can't compare him to that. That's not
what I'm doing. But I'm saying, look at high draft,

(16:16):
wasn't big, wasn't a fast, wasn't athletic, didn't have a
strong arm, and was considered the goat in too recently.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
So yeah, that's a great point. Let's go to Marty
out in Kentucky. Marty, you're on with the Eye couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 8 (16:28):
What's up, Marty?

Speaker 6 (16:31):
How you doing?

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Bro?

Speaker 8 (16:32):
Happy Friday and being as our guy Rob Parker's out here,
I'm gonna.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
Do some ripping.

Speaker 8 (16:37):
Okay, Okay, I do like Brock Birdie. I'm a fan,
but I'm not a fan of the deal. And you
said a lot of things that I'm gonna say, but
what I felt like with the talent around them that
I don't feel like anybody could steal them because you
had to be smart and you have to be accurate

(16:58):
Hi high football arque and accuracy. Those are two things
you had to have to do the things he did.
But like we talk about the NFC Championship game where
he brought him back agains the lives, I'll use a
comparison right there in San Francisco, Okay, everybody talks about
playing with Steph Curry in the space you get, well,
when you have Brandon Ayuk, Debo Kittle, McCaffrey, all these

(17:24):
guys out there, you're gonna get the space to break
off some runs. And the guy is smart. He is smart,
And I just feel like with this this new contract,
and you know, McCaffrey is I don't know if he's
ever gonna be McCaffrey again showing a Kittle's showing age,
a you's coming off an injury. I don't know if
they're ever going to be able to surround him with

(17:46):
that talent. And I'm not trying to bash the guy.
I just don't know if they can make it happen
once they're paying him like this, because the talent that
they had is dwindling away.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
Yeah, Debo being gone too. But I appreciate the call, Marty.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
I think to me though, Carrie, I think it's a
sign that they say we actually like you, not just
the guys around you. We trust you, We're gonna keep
weapons around you. Because first of all, everybody always says it.
Let me make this very clear to everybody. Okay, I
was gonna go through it, but its go. This drives
me crazy, man, Lebron needs talent around him. This player

(18:22):
needs talent around him, right, Rock Party needs talent around him.
If you go through the history of some of the
teams you pick the sport we're talking about, Yankees, Mets.

Speaker 6 (18:31):
Do you know what those nineties Yankee teams look like?

Speaker 8 (18:35):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (18:35):
I do?

Speaker 6 (18:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (18:36):
You know, Yankee fan over here, do you know what
those teams? Do you know what those eighties Magic led
Laker team? I'm sorry, maybe it was Kareem led the
first few years. Then it's magic. You got Big Game
James Byron Scott so good. You got Bob mcaduo, Hall
of Fey on a bench.

Speaker 6 (18:54):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
Like teams are loaded, period. Yes, I mean if you
look at some of those could teams. You got Reggie
and you got Marvin Harrison on one side, and Hedrin
James and the Bad James and.

Speaker 6 (19:06):
Running the slot and Dallas Clark is a tight end. Yeah.
Are you kidding me? Like that?

Speaker 5 (19:12):
Teams can get loaded, and the idea that somebody, oh,
he's just only doing it because yeah, some of the
best teams is your favorite teams had a bunch of
guys on them the only guy and this is and
this is funny and it kind of supersizes this conversation
what we're talking about, right.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
It's like one of those things where, yes, every team
has to have talent to win, there's no way around that.

Speaker 6 (19:33):
There's one exception.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
And I'm not down playing the guys that he had
because they were quality.

Speaker 6 (19:37):
Good. Tell me the era so I can guess like recent.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
It's it's two thousands, it's it's early early mid two thousands.

Speaker 5 (19:45):
And you're saying he was successful without the most talent. Yes, McNabb, No,
he had talent he had c O.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
I know that Tom Brady, imagine those teams where he
had Dion brad Deon rent as a Super Bowl MVP receiver.
Dion's a great receive. I mean, he's a really great,
really good receiver. Might even he's not a Pro Bowl
he's not. He's not a somebody's gonna be in the
Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Counter that counter, But I'm saying, like those guys agree,
I here's my counter to that. That is when Tom
Brady was a manager, and so therefore all I needs
you do is throw two hundred and twenty yards.

Speaker 6 (20:22):
You can even have one pick. Just don't have more
than that.

Speaker 5 (20:24):
We'll have you know, Yeah, our defensive special teams will
seal the deal one hundred. So I think that was
the game plan. Efficient kind of quick, easy outpasses and
then let the defense and our special teams. So it
wasn't as if Tom was what he would become later
when he started airing that thing out a little bit more. No, No,

(20:45):
when he started having them tight ends, when you got
multiple titles, Hernandez Gronk, Yeah, Randy Masson was, I mean,
it got it got ridiculous for a little while.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
Oh, that team. Yeah, it's crazy. And guess what though
they lost, they didn't win a super Bowl. And that's
my point. I don't I don't want to hear, but
that's what I'm saying, Like, that's the only one where
I see like the super talented thing.

Speaker 6 (21:05):
I get you. I agree. He wasn't runing around with
a gang ganggangy receivers. I'll give you that. All right,
it is the odd couple again.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
It's Kelvin Washington, carry Roads and for rob we got
Mike Heill getting ready to join us in a bit
FS one host, actor comedian. First of all, we're gonna
need a million titles if we gonna get Mike Hill.

Speaker 6 (21:20):
Here.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
Robbzie was just putting stuff down at this point. He
was like, Dad, I don't have his face on the paper, exactly,
doting father. Yeah, we'll get to Mike in a minute.
Right down Mount Toblanos. What's trending, hey, Manzi.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 5 (21:44):
All right, it's doc couple gain Kelvin Washington. We got
my man carry Rhoades and to build it. And for
Rob out there, I'm sure. Let me wonder, I'm wondering
it's the Yankees, Mets. Did Rob just diddy boo? You
think is he love? Yeah, he loves, he loves Aaron Judge.
So I think he robs you at booed? He quietly booed.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
I guarantee you he is in there taking all the
pictures of Aaron Judge.

Speaker 6 (22:09):
He is maximizing his zoom and his phone carry right now.
Pool King is definitely no, that's his boo boo.

Speaker 5 (22:15):
That ain't his poop with everything else except I told you,
if I'm trying to talk to him, he will turn
his back to me to look look at this TV
over here to watch Aaron Judge up. I could literally
have the keys to life like and this is all
you have to do to make twenty seven million dollars
in one day, Rob, And he would have been like,
huh what Aaron Judge was up?

Speaker 6 (22:30):
All right?

Speaker 5 (22:31):
As mentioned, Mike Hill is our guest now, and Mike
I gotta do a million of these things because he's
a f S one host, he's an actor, he's a comedian,
he's an author, you see him on TV.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
He's a best friend. He's a best friend. Father, he's
a voting father. Yeah, he's a brother.

Speaker 5 (22:46):
And Mike, yeah he all the asterisks called him Cordell Stewart.
He's a slash of the game, the hardest working man.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
Mike. Here, what up?

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Brood Manike?

Speaker 6 (22:57):
Mike, Hey, you know what carry? What's up? Man? Rogerie?
I knew this is gonna happen. What happened? Man?

Speaker 5 (23:01):
He's signing real extra New Yorky right now because the Knicks.
He ain't never signed this New York. Son, what's up?

Speaker 6 (23:07):
Son?

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Hold on Kevin right now? Son, don't even don't even
don't even let them go to the New York thing.
He's from where I'm from. He's from best in my Alabama.
That is that is yeah, that's that's that's that is
very true. Which Mike, you do to explain. I know you,
and I've read your book and I know. But for
those who maybe just follow you and then you're go
or seeing you and your lovely lady posting crazy videos
you tearing the house down because of the Knicks, explain,

(23:31):
Explain the.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
History U born born in New York, raised in Bestimon Alabama.

Speaker 6 (23:40):
I was raised and that's right.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
Car carry comes out here and going trying to enuciate
his words. Problem. All of a sudden, he's a bestmer Alabama.

Speaker 6 (23:56):
He right, he right, he right?

Speaker 4 (23:58):
My heart man, Like you know, in Alabama didn't have
an NBA team, didn't have a professional football team, so
all the New York team has always been my teams. Man.
So I wear it on my sleeve and I'm proud
of it. Bro. Let's go with your Let's get it
done tonight, Nick?

Speaker 6 (24:10):
All right?

Speaker 5 (24:11):
So there we have it, man, Game six, A lot
of people I felt Boston was. I just felt to
do it for Tatum. We ain't going out like that.
We are the ranking champs, and I believe, just man
for man, they're more talented, you know, the next so
I kind of thought they would be able to get
it done.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
But now here you are? Are you worried?

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (24:29):
How do you feel going into this one?

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Bro? I'm I'm really nervous. Man, I'm almost like, you know,
waiting on that pregnancy test from a woman. You don't
want to.

Speaker 6 (24:41):
Why okay, why though?

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Why?

Speaker 6 (24:42):
Why if they were able to get wins with Tatum?
Why you're nervous?

Speaker 4 (24:45):
Now without them, because it's Boston, man. You know, we're
talking about like the scrub team. We're talking about Indiana
without you know, like one of the super stars whatever there.
That's fine, I get that, But Boston didn't got the
heart oft champions. They got other players like Jaylen Brown
and stepping up. Peyton Pritchett is doing his thing.

Speaker 6 (25:00):
Honestly.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
You got guys a new Cortnett coming off the bench
playing away. He's playing right now. Obviously you know so.
And obviously you know their their team as the heart
of a champion. They got their met by coach Man.
So look, they this mantles to mix Knicks all season long.
I mean they were beating them by twenty points all
He's long. They swept them in the regular season. Jason

(25:21):
Tatum is a hell of a basketball player. I believe
Jayson Tatum is the most disrespected superstar of our era,
and it really is. I think Jaylen Brown is the
second most disrespected superstar in the NBA right now, and
I think when he's not there, other guys are gonna
step up. And I just don't really trust the Knicks
because I'm gonna use your fans.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Before.

Speaker 8 (25:44):
Man.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
Yeah, So I know Jalen Brust is gonna step up.
I know other guys, But what am I gonna get
out of Michel Bridges? What am I gonna get out
of og Ananobe? What am I going to get out
of Carl Anthony Towns? When is he going to earn
his right to call himself a true New York fan?
Hopefully that answers tonight.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
And that's why I was gonna go next, Mike. So,
I mean, obviously we know the main players in this series,
and you know for the next it has been Jaylen Bronson.
He's mister clutch. We know that, we know that about him.
In the fourth quarter, he's taken over and it's been
his team. But to get to the fourth quarter and
for the Knicks actually have a chance to win this game,
who are you eyeing to come out and put their
stamp on Game six?

Speaker 4 (26:22):
For the next here's oj Ananoby as this team has
gone O. J Ananoby's, by the way, surely plays great defense.
He was playing the terrific defense on Jason Tatan looking
me wrong, Jay James is gonna get here. Jays Jatins
go off for forty points on any player on any
given night, but he was playing really good defense, but
he was also scoring the basketball. Oj Ananoby can't go

(26:43):
once for twelve from the pild mi Kel Bridges. You
talked about waiting to the fourth quarter. Carry that's the issue.
We cannot wait until the third and fourth quarter is
time make a run. You have got to come out
and show that you are the aggressive tonight. You got
to come out and show that this series is over
tonight on your home court, because if it gets into
the fourth order, anything can happen. Hey, you know what,
the bosson Celtics lost their superstar to an injury. When

(27:05):
do we get to the fourth corner all of a sudden,
Jaylen Brunston gets hurt knock on Wood. I definitely don't
want to jinx myself or anything like that or the
other next season, but at the same time, you don't
want to take those chances. So come out tonight in
front of a frothy New York fan base who's going
to be fired up.

Speaker 8 (27:21):
Trying to get back.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
To the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in
twenty five years. You need to be fired up. So
I expect to see the same enthusiasm, the same type
of commitment. The same type of energy from the next
team to night.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
Oh, they're gonna be going crazy in there. I tell
you what you can automatically, You can automatically just feel
you're gonna be able to hear it at home and
hear it through the screen and feel it through the screen.
Mike Hill, our guests now on the Odd Couple, Kevin Washington,
Carry Roads and for Rob Rob out there in New
York actually enjoying the Yankees and Mets right now.

Speaker 6 (27:49):
I want to also go to this.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
You have been very outspoken conversation about Kayln Clark. We
got the WNBA commiss She goes out and says that
a couple of things. One just that they have to
sustain and gain from the momentum that they've gotten from
Kaitlyn Clark and some other players and keep it moving. Also,
she believes Kaitlyn Clark is the most popular athlete in America.
Just your thoughts on that statement and just where you

(28:12):
are as far as the run of Kaitlyn Clark the
last year or so.

Speaker 4 (28:16):
Yeah, I always have the preference myself when I talk
about Kaitlyn Clark. There's a lot of people, you know,
Kaitlin Clark has become a light and rod yep. For
a lot of the talk that we have in society,
not just sports talk, but in society today. You're gonna
pick aside. There are a lot of people that are
Kaitlin Clark fans that don't know anything about the WNBA,
don't know anything about basketball. They just know about Kaitlyn
Clark from her days in Iowah. And it all stemmed

(28:38):
from the Angel Reies. We know the whole history of
the whole situation that that happened there. I love Caitlyn Clark.
I think he is a phenomenal basketball player. I think
he is a breath of fresh air along with injuries
in the WNBA, the exposure that the league is getting,
it's because of Caton Clark. Don't get me wrong. A
lot of it is getting right now. And she is phenomenal.

(28:59):
She's basically we were considered. It was Matthew Johnson and
Larry Bird from years ago. Yay, why can't Angel Reaves
and Caitlyn Clark do the same thing? Look, Angel Reefs
is not the basketball player Kaitlyn Clark is, but her
popularity is up there with at Caitlyn Clark. For the
same types of reasons because we are so divided a
lot of times in this country. Why can't we just

(29:19):
let these young ladies breathe that life of fresh air
into the league and enjoy it instead of making it
so political. When it comes to Kaitlyn, I think she's problem.
She earned first Team All w NBA last year, Rookie
of the Year, she had a sensational season coming in
after a very slow start, and I think she's even
gonna go even more this year and become the superstar.
But my thing is I always put back on people

(29:41):
who say that the only reason to watch the WNBA
is Caitlyn Clark, and I think that's disrespectful to all
the great WNBA players that are in the league, say
starting off with an Agents and started with Breonna Stewart
and Sabrina iron Eskew and others like that that came
before her, that developed the league before that. So that's
the only thing I pushed back on when people say that, Destie,

(30:03):
she's the only reason to watch this WNBA, because there
are so many more phenomenal basketball players in that league
right now that you can't disuspect their contributions to the game.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Well, said Mike I want, I want to pivot to
a football question to you right now, And obviously there's
big news today about a contract that was five years,
two hundred and sixty five million for San Francisco San
Francisco forty nine quarterback Rock Perty. Do you think he's
deserving up that deal right now? Where do you stand
with that deal?

Speaker 4 (30:31):
It's the deal, It's this this fair deal. You know,
as you guys know, man, I judge quarterbacks on certain levels.
There are only a certain amount of elite quarterbacks. They
are great quarterbacks, they're good quarterbacks, and franchise quarterbacks. There
are only four league quarterbacks in the league, and you
guys kind of named them up earlier, the Joe Burrows,
La Mark Jackson's of the world of course, Patrick Mahomes

(30:51):
and Josh Allen Josh Josh Allen obviously the MVP. The
rest are franchise quarterbacks you're talking about, you know, the
Prescott to the World Jared Goffs or whatever. And what
I've seen out of brought party over the last couple
of years since he's coming the league is that basically
he fits that mode. Like you said, his resume speaks
for itself. On a football team now, elite quarterbacks are quarterbacks,

(31:15):
and I heard you guys having this conversation earlier that
could take a team that might be mediocre and make
them good. A great quarterback or elite quarterback can make
a good team elite and great. Tom Brady was then
laite quarterback, Peyton Manning was the league quarterback and carry
you know this very well. You played against those guys.
Those guys can take guys who aren't on proles on
their team and make the team put that team on

(31:38):
the shoulder. The rest are just franchise quarterbacks that need
to help around them, and Bot Perry's one of those guys.
So look, he's earned a quarterback money because that's the
money you get because, like you said before, quarterbacks, especially
franchise quarterbacks, don't grow on trees.

Speaker 8 (31:51):
You would much rather have a.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
Brought party on your team than be left with somebody
that is not good enough or somebody who's unproven, especially
when you're a team like San Francisco that's inspect you have.

Speaker 6 (32:01):
You said it just like us man.

Speaker 5 (32:02):
We think it made sense, and I think he didn't
have to reset the market and you'd have to pay
him sixty five million where you can say, hold on, hold on,
hold on, hold on, all right, right right, I think
it's a fair deal for both he and the team.
All right, Mike, appreciate you, man, Mike, Mike hill Yes, sir,
make sure you're give him a follow.

Speaker 6 (32:16):
It's Mike hill On X all right. On the way.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
We got the play of the day and we got
to get you ready for this Nick Celtics game. As
a Mike is over there shaking in his boots twice
understandably so it's the odd couple. Calvin to carry in
for Rob. Fox Sports Radio.

Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Uh uh uh oh, look at Manzi. Hold on. This
is getting crazy. Yeah, it's getting it's getting crazy.

Speaker 6 (32:54):
It's getting wild over here. Many Box Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
The Eye Couple, the Glasie Man is not here, kelvin Washington,
No tissues for you. Rob Carrie rolls in for Rob
and right now to sign for your play your tire rack.
Player of the day.

Speaker 4 (33:13):
Gordon peels off to the right wing, throws out of
Murray's for three Yes, eleven point lead for Denver ninety
three to eighty two.

Speaker 6 (33:23):
There you have it, Nuggets Radio.

Speaker 5 (33:25):
There big game from Jamal Murray, who has been There's
been a lot of guys Carrie dealing with like random illnesses, saclues.

Speaker 6 (33:31):
We still I just still don't have a clues going
on with man. I don't know. It's killing me. I
know I need to know.

Speaker 5 (33:36):
I mean, he's not starting or he does he aging
five points again, This is a guy that, Wow, you're
not gonna make it six years repeating no, no, no.

Speaker 6 (33:46):
Rob's not gonna make it. Alex, You're not gonna make
it either.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
So yeah, but Jamal Murray fighting what everybody I know
right is about to be me and you Rob uh,
and then you're gonna leave when somebody give you fifty
cent more an hour, you're gonna be out.

Speaker 6 (33:58):
He's out twenty five cents. You're right. I try to
double up on the once.

Speaker 5 (34:02):
But so to see Jamal Murray, it was big and
he actually has played very well for them and in
elimination games.

Speaker 6 (34:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
So yeah, we'll get to that a little bit more
of that in just a moment. But now it's to
make sure I gave you that the play today was
brought to you by tireq. For for forty years, tirek
has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, ship fast and free back
by free road hazard protection, accident protection, protection and protection
in case you didn't know, with Convenient Insulation OPSS like

(34:30):
Mobile Tire Insulation tyreq dot Comedy is the way tire
buying should be. A couple more minutes before we got
break here too, Game six Knicks Celtics New York is
going to be going You got the Mets Yankees right
now going crazy. You got Game six with the Celtics
in town. This is gonna be crazy for them. You
know what's so funny about the Knicks because everybody wants

(34:52):
them to be including the league, wants them to be
good and wants them to have success. And but you know,
you would think this was the Eastern Commerce Final. Is
gonna push them to the finals. This game like it's
just the second round of.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
The second But it feels like everything is on the
line for the Knicks, like the entire like this is
for all the marbles, and like no just.

Speaker 6 (35:13):
Kind is. But I'm saying, I.

Speaker 5 (35:15):
Know if this were Lebron Calves or even even you
maybe even Lakers or the Warriors with Steph, like you know, okay,
it's Western College finals or this is the finals or something.
We're doing all this for a semi final game, like
cause the Knicks again, the league wants them to be
so much better than they are, as much as I
like to kind of tease them and say they're the
cowboys of the NBA, where it's like we talked about

(35:36):
them all the time, making a big deal, but they
whatever really gotten from them. It is much better when
they're good. I have to admit that the city goes crazy,
there's a buzz. It's just better when they're good. So
that's why everybody's high on this. But I'm like, man,
this is second round games, and it feels.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Like it's also it's also who they're playing, though, Kelvin,
it's I think that part. That element makes it even
more of a big bang type of situation. It's the Celtics.
It's a good little rivalry there too, rainting champions. So
if the Celtics do they have a cop out? Now,
oh Man Tatum, you know we lost our best player.
Is that can they do that? If they lose tonight,

(36:13):
it goes to a game seven. They lose, can they
can they hang on to that and say, oh man,
we lost Tatum or are they still You got the
reigning finals MVP and a bunch of other good players.
Y'all should still win. The Celtics still believe they're gonna
win this series. This isn't over yet. Now this this
game's obviously if they win, the Knicks win, it's over.
But I actually think that Boston's gonna win this game.
But we'll talk about on the other side.

Speaker 5 (36:34):
Yeah, and I think too that they have enough talent,
which is a compliment to Brad Stevens and the way
they've run this organization. That time you can have your
best player who's arguably wherever you want to put a
top four, top six to seven player. And I'm still
looking like you guys have the better roster now. Obviously
a healthy Porzigas makes it incredibly but if he's if

(36:55):
he's solid, Jalen Brown, Pritchett six man another year, Derek
White maybe the most versatile player in the entire NBA
as far as what he brings. You had enough to
get the job done for sure, Kaylen Clark, we gotta
talk about it.
