Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Cubs.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Former Cubs Sammy Sosa was honored at Wrigley in his
first visit there in over twenty years for Seattle cal
Rawley with two homers. He has twenty nine already this year.
That is a new record for a catcher before the
All Star break in Major League games. Right now, Rangers
up to nothing at Pittsburgh. Top of the second. Jacob

(00:20):
de gram the starter. Three WNBA games coming up tonight.
I'm Steve de Seger. Suspensions handed down by Major League
Baseball against the Padres manager and Dodgers manager and the
Padres closer Robert Suarez a three game suspension and a
fine for hitting shohe Otani intentionally late in last night's game.
Suarez will appeal, but the two managers got one game

(00:43):
suspensions and fines and have to serve their respective suspensions tonight.
That's Padres manager Mike Shild Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. As
for Fernando Tatissa San Diego, he was hit on the
hand last night in La imaging showed no fractures and
he is in the line up for their series opener
at home against Kansas City. The Rangers lead for too

(01:05):
in the top of the fifth at Pittsburgh, and on
the mound is Jacob de Gram. He's got on the
first four innings with four strikeouts. Orioles at Yankees tied
to too in the top of the third after a
rain delay, Tigers at Ray scoreless in the first. Seattle
beat the Cubs nine to four. Today I'm Steve de Seger.

Speaker 3 (01:24):

All right, so make sure you get all that together, uh,
and don't miss it our YouTube channel. You see a
lot of our stuff out on there. A lot of
people like our videos, our takes on different things. It's

(02:15):
pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
We we appreciate everybody's showing love, going to check out
our stuff, yelling at us, supporting us.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
That's good. All of it, all of it.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Uh, do you want to talk about the Cooper flag first?
And then we'll set this up just about you know, uh,
you know, everybody's random raving about what he's going to
be out at first pick. Everybody knows that consensus out
of Duke and he's the best thing since they since
sliced bread and blah blah blah blah. I mean it's
just I'll see anything negative, you know, Well, yeah, I

(02:46):
mean there's not there's not a lot.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
He's he's the consensus and a lot of people are
really starting to dissect how good, how great can he be?
You have a lot of people Jen Beheim coming out
saying he, you know, he reminds him of Larry Bird.
Larry had the better jump shot, he's more athletic. But
he's saying he's the most complete basketball player I've ever
I've seen. He has it all in His jump shot

(03:07):
will continue to develop.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Jason Kidds said gren Hill, And that's that's an interesting
person too, because that's who I was thinking about.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
That's what and that he can shoot. No, he's not
Reggie Miller or Larry Bird with the shot, yet it
could get there. So freaking young. My goodness, just turn
eighteen not too long ago. He's a heck of a defender.
He competes, he blocks shots, he's athletic as heck, so
he he This sky is the limit for them. And
this is why it was a foegone conclusion that Dallas

(03:39):
is gonna take him because when you watch him, he's
one of the rare kids who kind of lived up
to the hype from his high school mixtape days. You know,
we've known about him now for a handful of years,
and then he gets to do any balls out, So
the question becomes how good can he be? And is
he a franchised changer. He's absolutely gonna be a franchise player,
I meaning he's the best team player on your team.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
But is he a game? Ain't changers?

Speaker 4 (04:00):
He a We got shots at finals because we got
this kid for a decade, ten fifteen years.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
You know, here's my issue.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
I get it to comparisons because Larry Bird's white, a
great white American basketball I get.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Larry Bird white. Yeah, I didn't even notice that.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
I get all that, but I think it's just such
a reach. I'm dead, sir. As somebody who was covering
the NBA during that time, watching lot Larry Bird.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
I didn't watch him on YouTube. I saw this guy
play was It was a monster. He really was.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
And Larry Birrd, let me just give you talking about
Cooper Flag is going to be the next Larry Bird.
Can I tell you Larry Bird is the only person
in NBA history?

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Did you hear me say only.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, Finals MVP, All
Star MVP, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the
I'm just like, like, did you hear what I just said?
And that's why the only nobody could have those kind
of accolades.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
It's insane. And I do believe.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
That there's a window you want to do the white
guy basketball guy thing, if you got to do that.
Christian Laightener, who I think is on the Mount Rushmore
of college basketball point we think that.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Okay, I don't think that's debatable.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
I think Christian later for college basketball is up there.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
And for those who don't know, all your favorites, he
gave it to all of them. He gave it to them.
Get some of this. Chris Webber, get something. They all
got it.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
He was Larry, Larry Johnson and in that second time
around in the church.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Get some of this. I mean, an incredible career in
college at Duke.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
So Christian Layner here, okay, Larry Bird here, all right,
And I'm positive Cooper Flag has a much better chance
of being closer to Christian Laightner than to Larry Bird.
And that's not to dis respect him at all. I

(06:02):
just don't think when people start throwing out names and
thinking somebody's going to be they made this mistake before.
And I'm not saying that Adam Morrison was the same
as Cooper Flag.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Okay, I'm not, but boy did.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
They throw his name out. You remember that he was
a name at that time. Obviously he didn't live up
to it. Christian Ladner, as great of a college player,
wasn't a great pro. He was good, he was good,
he wasn't great one all star right appearance. And here's
the other thing. And we mentioned Grant Hill and some

(06:39):
other Duke players. They don't have a big history of
great NBA players. Now, Grant Hill could have been different
if they didn't have the injuries.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
I think we saw enough to know, like, but I'm
just saying it, but we didn't get to see it
in full seven more years of Pete Grant. We didn't
see it, Zion, I don't know what about to get him, Well,
we don't know. We've seen a little bit, but not enough.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
And this is my point is that those are lofty
expectations every kid coming out Wimby's gonna be the greatest.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Player I ever played? Can you pass Kareem first?

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Like seriously, like I gutt He's a big man, he
could do stuff two three dribble of basketball.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
But he's the greatest player ever.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Say now, Cooper Flag is the greatest white player who's
ever come out of Really, I can't get with it.
I just think it's in the anticipation and the expectations
are way too lofty to mention him in the same

(07:45):
breath as Larry Bird. And if it wasn't for their
white skin, I don't believe that people would would even
come close to saying he was gonna be Larry Bird.
That's just me and that's why I say, if I
had to pick where Cooper Flag gonna wind up, it
ain't gonna.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Be all the way over here with Larry Bird.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
It's gonna be somewhere over here closer to Christian Layton.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
I think the guy he's gonna look the most like
for the first five six years of his career is
Paulo Ben Carroll. I think he's gonna look like the
guy who was just a duke not too long before
him cut two three years ago, who was a player,
who was a number one pick and who was a hooper.
And we can all see he's gonna be, you know,
several time All Star. I think that is kind of
the comp for me. Can it be a little bit better?
We'll have to wait and see. But he does have

(08:31):
an engine that I love. He being Cooper Flag, He
plays hard, he wants to win, he competes.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
Now.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
A couple things that concern me, And this isn't just him.
This is a Zon thing. This is a Blake Griffin thing.
This is a Jowelle emb thing, This is an Anthony
Davis thing, This is a Kyrie Irving thing. Guys who
I can keep going down the line, by the way,
Ben Simmons, guys who became these like all were.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
We know they're coming. This number one pick.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
Guy who've done nothing but played basketball since they were
four and five years old. No breaks, no nothing, no football,
no tennis, no swimming, no baseball. All I do is
hoop And guess what I do rob I play my
basketball team for high school. I'm playing an AAU team,
I'm playing a travel team. I'm playing some people special tournament.
These games a weekend, eight games a weekend, because I

(09:14):
mean the AAU got this game on Saturday games.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
And then guess what too, I'll playing special.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Games like a cool playing the show Gus and I'm
playing the Nike things. And by the way, I'll play
against the USA team basketball basketball, basketball, basketball, basketball basketball,
and guess what happens. Let's talk about Linzo Ball, Let's
talk about LaMelo Ball. All these guys who play basketball
basketball baskets. They are four years old, Zion Like I said, LaMelo, Lionzo,

(09:43):
Blake Griffin, they all start breaking down early. And my
thing would be, he is very good, and I expect
him to have a heck of a career. But I'm like, man,
is he gonna be the one that kind of buck
the trend? And I'm not saying every player clearly, but
a lot of these guys, I'm iran. They have a
lot of injuries, man, because all they've done is when

(10:04):
you look back at some of the greats. Michael Jordan,
the great is played baseball. Lebron, you can say the
great is second, greatest, third whatever. He played football, like
guys played Jordan play base Michael Jordan play baseball, Mike
Lebron played football. Other guys saying, you and I talk
about Randy Moss arguably the second greatest receiver all time.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
He played like seven sports. He was an outfielder.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
He was mister basketball and mister football West Virginia. Uh,
he ran track, utterly ridiculous, So many of this. Kyler Murray,
Kyler Murray the.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
First player ever to the first round in the NFL and.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Ever baseball player.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Jameis Winston baseball, Patrick Rohan's baseball player, like these guys
played so uh, Matthew Stafford baseball player, like so he
grew up with Clayton up in the same which is ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Right, you got potentially pure right and well one, yeah,
for sure.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
That was heavy on the potential, you know, all right,
go ahead, won for sure on Kirkshaw Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
So but you get what I mean.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
And that's one of my concerns about Cooper Flag is, like, man,
can he be another guy that very good no, no
doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
But he gets nicked up.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
And then as far as the player himself, again, the
thing we got to relax is when we say Larry Bird,
when we say Lebron, when we say a shock or
something of these these these types of players. What may
Larry Bird special? Wasn't just a jump shot, wasn't you know?
He's six ten, he rebounds well, He rebounds way better
th people thought. He almost averag ten per game for

(11:31):
his career. It's the feel for the game. And you
can't just say, oh, so and so because he's this height,
he's this that, and he's got to feel for Lebron,
feel for the game.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
I'm about to for the game.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Notice against the Pistons, steal the ball, makes a beautiful
pass in Dennis.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Johnson for a game like stole the ball the.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
Ball, miss it, stay, run, go jump get it. That
left feel for the game. One of the best forward
passers we've ever seen passing forwards. So when we say
things like this, hold up, because again, it's the field
for the game. Magic Johnson means well loves the Lakers
more than anything. He said DeAngelo Russell anlins O ball
gonna take his records down, they're gonna be better than me. Magic,

(12:14):
settle down, You're at worse, in my opinion, the fifth
best player of all.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Now taking your stuff down. Recall as to who comes
and went.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
To nine finals coming like twelve thirteen years Magic, relax.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
You're something coming down on this.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
He's you're compelled with this, the haste to say so,
and so is this. I think Cooper Flagg will be
a perennial All Star because I believe it's his athleticism,
his tenacity. He wants to be good, he wants to
be great. He plays great defense, and I like it him.
Like I said, maybe a potentially better version of Paulo Benchero,
someone who went to do and maybe not the same

(12:51):
exact skill set, but at max.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Now Larry Bird, maybe a Kawhi.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
In the and that a bad player to be to
be a Hall of Fame trajectory, but just an ability
because Kawhi handle was nice. It ain't the crazy Tatum,
you know I thought of Tatum. He's a little uh
Tatum is not a bad one else either. I think
he plays a little bigger than Tatum, but I'm not
mad at that. So the polo ban Carrol, the Tatum
guys who went to Duke. He finished that mold as well.

(13:20):
He's big, he rebounds, like I said, he blocked shots,
and he wants to win, and he's got a nice
mid range and he's gonna get that long three ball
once he gets to the NBA. He's scary. I remember
seeing the videos two three years ago, like you know,
let me see. Then he goes and plays against USA,
go oh shoot, I'm not saying that all the scouts
and and I'm giving him that. I just think when

(13:40):
when that's the Larry Bird is extreme, Lory Bird.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Is is we gotta find a middling white guy?

Speaker 6 (13:45):
Is there?

Speaker 4 (13:45):
Who's the middling American white guy? Can we no white American?

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Can we say? Can we say Tom Tom Chambers?

Speaker 4 (13:54):
I thought about Tom Tamors was nice. I know all
stuff are Tom Chambers? Is the Tom Tom Chambers? Tom
Chayers might actually be the answer?

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine, nine,
six sixty three sixty nine.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Here's the parameters.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Larry Bird to the far right, okay, Christian later to
the far left Cooper flag. Which one will he be
closer to Larry Bird, Christian Leno or do you have another.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Name, Tom Chambers. Okay, I like the Tom cham.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
We want to hear from you on this eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox it is The Odd Couple

Speaker 4 (15:00):
I'm not saying that it's raining and outside and it's
actually a beautiful day on his first hand sound.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Oh you thought I was gonna say that's like the lyrics. Hey,
you're not getting me on this one. No you can't.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Yeah, that's permanently that will get played a couple Robert Kelvin.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
First day of Summer for those of you out on
the East.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
Coast seven forty two, officially summer started uh fucky Flashback Friday.
And by the way, for over forty years, Tire rec
has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive shit fast and free back
by Free road has a protection with convenient insulation options
like mobile tire installation, tirerech dot com. It is the
way tire buying should be. Rob and I talking to

(15:38):
Cooper Flagg and just the projections. You got a lot
of folks who are come out. Obviously he's getting ready
to be the number one pick for the Mavericks. Jim
Beheim saying he's closest thing he's seen. The Larry Bird
reminds him of him, and he's the best player, most
complete player he's seen.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
And we're just wondering what's the projection?

Speaker 4 (15:52):
Rob throughout the idea of Christian Latner on the left
Larry Bird on the right.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
I said, dagd what about Tom Chambers up in this
month and are a couple of you know, we got
the extreme.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
Okay Chrismas he's more physical, Mark Letting, Chris Chris Bullen
could score though for sure.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Oh yeah, left bucket.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Yep, no doubt got so we got to get yet
A gave you what's gonna be closer to Bird or later?

Speaker 4 (16:15):
Now, if it was a college later, that would be
a great confidence. How about David in Tennessee. You're in
the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
What's up, David, Hey, Harry, y'all tonight we're goat.

Speaker 8 (16:27):
I just want to say it's an honor, first of all,
to be able to talk to y'all listen every night.

Speaker 9 (16:31):
Thank you guys.

Speaker 8 (16:34):
My projection is I see him being more of a
Chris Mullen.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Wow, okay, Chris Mullen.

Speaker 8 (16:41):
Chris Mallen could move all over the floor, he could
score and everything, but he is not that Larry Bird projection.
They're handing this young man everything and they need to
back off a little bit. And then now let's see.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
How come on, David, this is what we do.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
No, but David, I'm with you as the new lebron
went to Larry Bird. Let please, I just read everything
Larry Bird did in the NBA.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
Larry Bird was better the call day, like the first
half of the eighties, like they were just like Larry
Bird's ridiculous. People forget everybody was like, man, let me
challenge him. Go listen to all the stories people say
about him.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Oh, I got.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
John in California. You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
What's up, John, He's gonna be a Tom Chambers.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
You can see it.

Speaker 6 (17:26):
I have to.

Speaker 8 (17:27):
Agree with Calvin because Larry Bird, come on, you're.

Speaker 9 (17:30):
Talking to Rarefy right.

Speaker 10 (17:32):
Once he gets in there with that uh, with that
level of competition, we'll see what he's made.

Speaker 6 (17:38):
Of course, he's so young.

Speaker 10 (17:39):
It's hard to tell at this point.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Just turn eighteen. I know.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
I'm just saying, people are like that is lofty every
Larry Bird.

Speaker 7 (17:47):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
I just people understand how I feel.

Speaker 10 (17:51):
We're older and so we remember how great that guy was.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
I watched and covered. I was covering the league sitting court.
I used to just shake my head. I was at
the old Boston Garden and watch this guy just put
put on a clinic.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
You know what. By the way, John John, thank you John.
This is it. He is Tom Chambers, Tom Chambers six ten,
just like him.

Speaker 4 (18:15):
You know wherever they you know they six but six
ten Tom Chammers a four time All Star, two time
All NBA All Star.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
MV really good play.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Well for those of you don't know Tom and go
look up Tom Chambers dunk on Mark Jackson if you've
never seen it. You want to see a human play
for the sons. Mostly who else did he play for?
He played for a handful of teen's sons. Sons was
like the run when he was. He had one season
with one all Star season with Seattle as well, but
Seattle and the Phoenix Sons were kind of the d years.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
I mean, look down, he was giving you at.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
This peak, he was giving you twenty three a game,
twenty lie, twenty seven a game. Oh, he was really good,
Tony listen, twenty seven and seven, twenty six and eight,
couple of a few assists. Tom Chamers was nice for
those who don't know you got a jump shot. He
could hit the three just d They didn't shoot the
three like that back in the eighties. Tom Chambers might
be four time All Start, two time NBA. If Cooper

(19:07):
flag is that, you can't be mad at that. How
about Ken in Orlando? You're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
What's up? Ken?

Speaker 6 (19:15):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (19:15):
How you doing? Rob? And Elvin?

Speaker 1 (19:17):
How you doing great? Great? On this funky flashback Friday.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Okay, I'm an old Nick fan back in the cough
On Wing Go Tickie Burdens for the fair days, So.

Speaker 10 (19:29):
I know what I'm talking about. I'm gonna give your name.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Okay.

Speaker 8 (19:32):
One that started in the abaight they went to the
Philadelphia seventy six is Bobby Jones.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Bobby Jones, okay, Bobby Jones.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
And you remember on that team Steve makes Bobby Jones
all those.

Speaker 8 (19:43):
Guys, right, I think cool Hall he could be a
Kicky vandaway.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
You're gonna say that. I knew you were going to
with some shooting. Was nice, I know, but hey, all right, hey,
appreciate it real quick? You still there?

Speaker 10 (19:57):
Yeah, I'm here.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
The Larry Bird talk is crazy to me. I just can't.
I can't get with it.

Speaker 10 (20:02):
No, not yet, not not not. And then you gotta
also talk about they don't never talk about.

Speaker 9 (20:08):
Chemistry, team defense, how to get other guys better? Can
he make other guys Kenny Rod's.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Other guys up?

Speaker 6 (20:17):
Bird did that because you remember who he had now,
He had Partish who.

Speaker 8 (20:21):
Was almost a journey man right before he got He
had guys like.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Kevin mccam, Kevin McHale, Dennis Johnson, Dennis Johnson, don't forget.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Cedric Maxwell, who was an All Star and in finals
MVP and eighty one, no doubt. All right, archiball the
first archiballing around, right.

Speaker 9 (20:43):
So he made guys better and uplifted guys. I mean
he even had mL Car look good well, he.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
Was looking good. Flag, he was waving the time. Nobody
better than mL Car, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
All right, thanks appreciate it. That's what I was saying
when I said Larry bird'st feel for the game. People
just throw that around like, oh edge Larry Bird. I'm like, Uh,
that's why lucas more of a fit because the style,
like the field.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
I can pass, I can shoot in the field.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
Squeeze one more in before we get the update, and
then we're gonna get to more of your calls, so
you can still call in eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox. We'll extend the calls on this good topic.
Here ak forty seven one bad justin he's more offensive.
But I can see Andre in Massachusetts. You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Drey?

Speaker 10 (21:27):
Hey, how you doing? Thanks for taking a call.

Speaker 6 (21:29):
Listen.

Speaker 10 (21:29):
I'm gonna agree that Larry Bird is a little bit
exaggerated on one end of the spectrum. Not quite Christian Laightner.
Christian Laton is a very good college player, obviously didn't
transition to the NBA. For me, I have two names,
you know, because he is talented. I think about Mike Miller,
coming out of Florida.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
You know he'll be better than that. He'll be better
than that.

Speaker 10 (21:48):
Okay, Okay, but again, Cooper Flagg just the one year
Mike Miller freshman at Florida, took him in the National
Championship game, came into the NBA, We've never broke through
to be a star Okay, all star level player, you know,
but a consistent player. And again the other uh player
I'm gonna bring up, and I'm not sure if Cooper's
at this level. This is my view. He's had a
good freshman year. He's not wowing me for the Pete Marrivitch,

(22:09):
somebody like Epistol Pete Maravich who was just a savant
and really dominated in all lines. As much as I
like Cooper, he didn't really show me much domination at Duke.
Had a good freshman year, wasn't able to get them
over the humps. So I'm not gonna crown him on
the Larry Bird level.

Speaker 6 (22:23):
I say Mike.

Speaker 10 (22:24):
Miller, he goes he's a rich man's Mike Miller. But
I'm not putting them in a level of all time
great like Larry.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
I want you, oh well, Jim, definitely with you and
the Larry Bird.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
But man, he's way more athletic and his engine is
way more you know, revved up than Mike Miller.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
Mike Miller was nice, but he Cooper Flags can be better.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Now, all right, we'll take more of your calls on
this eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Will Cooper Flag be closer the Larry Bird?

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Or Christian Laydener or do you have another name somewhere
in the middle between these two extremes?

Speaker 4 (22:57):
And I know it's today after Juneteenth, you can say
a brother's name too.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
By the way, No, no, we're doing the white guy basketball. Yeah,
we're doing that. Steve Sega's gonna get you set on
with Shendy right now. Heisty.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Hey, they're major League Baseball today at Chicago, Seattle beat
the Cubs nine to four, and Cal Rawley hit two
more home runs. He has twenty nine this year. At
Yankee Stadium tonight, twenty seventh of the season for Aaron Judge,
Yanks lead the Orioles three to two in the bottom
of the fourth inning. The Rangers and pitcher Jacob de
Grom lead four to two at Pittsburgh in the top

(23:28):
of the seventh rain delay at the start in Tampa Bay,
it's now bottom of the second race four nothing over
the Detroit Tigers, and it's already a White Sox seven
nothing lead.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
At Toronto.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
In the bottom of the fifth, Marlins lead the Braves
four to one in the top of the fifth. The
Braves have a record of thirty four and thirty nine
this year. Mets at Phillies scoreless in the bottom of
the fourth, Brewers at Twins scoreless in the top of
the second. After all the bean balls this week at
Dodgers Stadium, Padres and Dodgers each received suspensions from Major
League Baseball. Those are Robert Suarez of the Padres gets

(24:02):
three games for hitting shoe O Tani with a pitch
late last night. He will appeal, but the respective managers
get one game suspensions that have to be served tonight
and fines. By the way, that's Padres manager Mike Schultz
and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. As for Fernando Tatis Junior
of the Padres, who was hit on the hand last night,
imaging showed no fractures and he is in the lineup

(24:24):
for the Padres opener of the homestand a reminder of
the next IndyCar Race on Fox TV is Sunday at
Roade America in Wisconsin. US men's soccer plays again this weekend.
The Gold Cup Tournament is on Fox and FS one.
NBA Finals will conclude this weekend with Indiana at Oklahoma City.
Three WNBA games tonight and the Stanley Cup Final average

(24:46):
just two point five million viewers on TNT plus three
point eight million in Canada.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Back to you, my guys. Thank you so much, Steve,
appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Wait just wait, Steve, I think somebody else got suspended
right now, somebody else just got hit by a pitch.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
The Dodgers and Padres they had to relax.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
My gosh, he got ridiculous. If you went up the bat,
you're like, well, I hope he just hits me in
the leg.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
They hate each other. That's a real rival.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
Yeah, and the Padres they had the Dodgers down. They
should have gone to the world. They're bitter on bitter
over they would. They won't let it go.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
And like I said, this is good for baseball and
that if we mess around and get them in the
playoffs again, which has been three out of the last
five years, you'd.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
Want to see that for sure. Everybody would enjoy that.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
All right, So again, man, you guys are definitely interested
in this one. We get talking about Cooper flag presumptive
number one pick going to the Mavericks clearly and heck
of a player. Heck of a year averaging almost twenty
at Duke, and I think it was like seven eight rebounds,
really good player. Question is where's the peak? Where do
you put him at? Christian Ladner one time all started
on sleep solid. Adn't be a career just not matching

(25:50):
his college career. It is a great college.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
And ain't Larry Bird? Who I think?

Speaker 4 (25:53):
And you know I've spent this for years knowing you.
Larry Bird keeps getting pushed further and further back. People
just wanted to put it. I'm like, hold on, right,
I remember Larry Bird. No they no, they don't remember
Larry Bird. And I'm like, all right, send me p's
in a row. I'm like, y'all got to relax. The
dude was insane.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
And he had a bad back.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
Was like broke up bucket a past maybe top three,
top two passing forwards off.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Maybe it's like Lebron and him.

Speaker 4 (26:19):
If you're talking passing forwards I mean utterly ridiculous for sure,
So Ary Bird spectrum or the Christian Lader spectrum or
someone else. I'm running with Tom Chambers right now. I'm
really feeling love, enjoying that Tom Chambers pick.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Who got what about Don? In Nashville. You're on the
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Don? Oh it's
Don in Boston, but you're driving down in Nashville.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Yes, what's happening? How are you?

Speaker 6 (26:48):
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Guys?

Speaker 5 (26:50):
How's it going?

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Doing? Great? Buddy? How are you? I know you not
with the Larry Bird thing because you're from Boston. You
know that.

Speaker 6 (26:57):
Well, tweety bird couldn't shoot it either, so he's closer
to tweety person. But h no, I you know, I
like the kid. He's gonna have a great game. Chris
Ballin's baby, Sure, you know, definitely some. But I call
to congratulate you on two calls on this final series

(27:18):
of Indianapolis. Uh maybe you know, taking the first game
and taking last night both calls very very bold.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Yes, and I'm gonna call it. I'm picking them for
game seven. I am Don you are, Yes, I am
to win, not just to cover. I'm gonna pick them
to win. They feel like a team of destiny to me,
that's that's just what it feels like.

Speaker 6 (27:40):
Well, I tell you that that would be the boldest
call of all and uh, you know, because well, don't
bet on them, because your your record. Kids.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Yeah, I'm struggling right now, struggling, struggling, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
And you picked today, right, So if you if you
go on three today, just don't come back from guys,
it'll be bad. All right. I appreciate you, appreciate it.

Speaker 7 (28:03):
Who we are.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
Andrew in Bakersfield, California, you're in the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
What up, Drew?

Speaker 6 (28:11):
What's up?

Speaker 9 (28:11):
Guys?

Speaker 1 (28:12):
What's going on?

Speaker 9 (28:13):
All Right?

Speaker 6 (28:13):
I got Kevin Love, Luke Walton or Kurt Rambus, although
I haven't seen Cooper fly play.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Okay, then you can't.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
I was gonna say Rambus and I'm like, okay, yeah,
and how did he missing play? And Luke Walton, h
Luke Walton was but he on this level? Come on
this level now, Luke Walton College was nice.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Mark in pennsyl Tucky. You're in the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
What's up? Mark?

Speaker 6 (28:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (28:41):
Hey, thank you?

Speaker 5 (28:42):
First time, long time Kelvin you've been a great gold
nugget frizzle. Fine, So thank you that you're on there.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
I appreciate nice.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Hey, you know what Mark don't even say. You didn't
got to say to Mark is a caller of twenty
twenty five. Put him in the Hall of Fame. Oh shoot,
he's still on the phone. My bad, I didn't hear you,
Mark going. So Mark, you've been listening from the beginning.

Speaker 5 (28:59):
Oh my god, I've I've gone back with you and
Chris for I don't even know how long, Wow, long,
long time.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
I know, so you've you've never called though, but you've
been listening. What what today made you call?

Speaker 5 (29:12):
Well, because you went with the Larry Bird and being
one of those old white guys, I have to go.
I have to go with Kevin McHale and uh, although
I don't know if Cooper is ever going to ride
the bench. I mean when you talked about the best
six man player I've been coming in and I mean
they're the same height, they're the same weight. Kevin did
everything and did everything in college. You know, I'm I'm

(29:36):
a Yankee, So the fact he was a Gopher, I'll
give him a lot of credit. For that, and uh
so I have to give my shout out to Larry's
you know brother on the team, Kevine and Mark.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
Let me say this, this is the only thing I
could never figure out with Kevin McHale.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
How did he not scrape his knuckles when he was walking? Stop? Stop?
All thanks? He has some you.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
He had a unique build, he had a unique friend. Yeah,
shoulders and his arms were long.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
I give that. Man.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
He was nice, he was a bucket. He might be
top three for postal stretch Armstrong. How about that? You
got Hachem Olajuwan, Kevin McHale. If you're talking bigs down
there on the block, who else would I putt in
that category? Because if you talk an other post, you
got Jordan and Kobe with the fade ways and all that.
But on the block, Tim Dunky was nice down there too.

(30:29):
But man, let's go. Let's go with Mo in Alabama.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
What's up?

Speaker 5 (30:34):
Mo?

Speaker 6 (30:35):
Hey God, I'm lower than you, guys, I'm sixty eight.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
What about Rick Barry Man?

Speaker 7 (30:42):
Rick Bearn was a bad boy.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Rick Barry was nice.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
He was he was more guard centric and I think, yeah,
he's then Cooper would be.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
Oh but yeah, Rick Berry's legendary too, without a doubt.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
I think he's a little I think people are starting
to forget a little bit how athletic Cooper Flag is.
Like I don't know, if I don't know if y'all
have been watching him play. He that boy's jumping from
dagnar from the free throw line. He's banging on people
two handed and blocking shots, hitting his head on the backboard. Like,
Cooper Flag is crazy athletic, and that's one of the
things I think people are kind of forgetting about.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
Thanks Moe appreciation. How about Tony and Wisconsin. You're on
the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Tony, gentlemen?

Speaker 9 (31:20):
First off, Kier Milwaukee. We think kN k Nipple is
going to be the better of the two. Okay, but
Cooper Flag reminds me have Keith van Horn.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
Keith van Horn. It was a big star for the Nets. Yeah,
he he he had as.

Speaker 9 (31:33):
He had some really nice years and I think he
finished you what, seventeen points seven rebounds.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
Not bad, No, Keith a nice career.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
I think he had that Christian Latner of like I
was so good in college. You guys won't ever talk
about my NBA career because you expect you're holding me
to that kind of a thing.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
Tony, We ain't buying, no Larry Bird, Am I right? Tony?

Speaker 9 (31:56):
No? No, no, Larry Bird. Is you gotta be something
really special? Not not that Cooper Foy can't be.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
It's a tall order. Yeah, appreciate it around. We can't
just be thrown around, Larry Bird like that. I agree.

Speaker 4 (32:13):
I told you Magic Nonson, has you know I mean
he's gonna be okay, No, Magic, do you know how
good you were? Do you know what you mean? L A,
I know you've been doing. Ain't that that's too much?

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Humble? Too much? Come on now, Magic, it's shell time.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Thanks everybody who trapped in a lot of calls, a
lot of interest in this. We talked about this topic
a couple of days off the air, and we were like,
we know, we want to do it.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
So we finally got before you left, uh as well,
So another one we got to talk about. Man, there's
a player who's supposed to be a Toronto top three pick,
but one of the things that he's not doing is
going to play and perform for the team.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
He's not showing up to meets. We'll tell you we're
talking about.

Speaker 4 (32:49):
It's the Couple, Rob Parker, kelvin Washington on a Funky

I we wanting to talk about We kind of hinted
at it was it yesterday?

Speaker 5 (33:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (33:51):
A little bit get to it. Yeah, we got to
talk about something else here so as Bailey yep, as
you know, used to be a top three, pickage, top one,
top two, you know, I mean obviously, wan't you come home?

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Bill Bailey? Yep? Bill. He's canceled some workouts.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
He's been he as his father kind of running things
for him, and a lot of people are saying, what
the heck is going on? You're really good, we expect
you to, you know, to go high. But he cancels
the pre workout with the seventy six. The team are talking,
they said that he folks will saying he could slide
down the draft because of the way he's been treating
other team He's shutting other teams.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
He already said, I'm not playing in Utah. I don't
want to go to the Utah Jazz or whatever.

Speaker 1 (34:31):
Yeah, one hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
And so the conversation becomes starts to be, you know.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
Is what he's doing.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
You could argue, is it, Hey, I'm I'm controlling my destiny,
controlling my path. Me and my pops are Archie and
Eli manning this thing. You could also say, is this
being you know, damning? Because yo, you you you you
had one good year? Sanders on line one, Yeah, are
you should door centering this thing if you will be careful.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Oh, I don't want him to go to Cleveland. We
don't want to go, Like, be careful what you're talking about? Right?

Speaker 3 (35:07):
This is the only thing I'm saying. I don't understand it.
I really don't. And I'm not saying that, you know, Like,
let's see how it plays out. What is the problem
with going to a team working out people hearing that
you're a good guy? You know other team right hear?
Oh he went to Utah or he went to Philadelphia.
They said they loved him or whatever. Uh, maybe that

(35:30):
enhances you to other people as well, who maybe have
a pick before them. Do you know what I'm saying.
But once you start hearing, you go, is this guy
gonna be Is this gonna be a problem? Is this
gonna be an issue? Nowadays? And then we've seen and
I think players better be careful. Luca wasn't that y
cooperative with the Mavericks. People like as far as he's rehab,

(35:52):
what he's doing all this other stuff, and there's so
much money involved, they're like, we're given him three hundred
and fifty million.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
We can't control him now, Like he won't do you
see him.

Speaker 4 (36:05):
They moved Luca, they said no time all NBA.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
Yes, this is what I'm trying to tell you, Like,
why would you do this? I don't understand it.

Speaker 4 (36:14):
So here's what also makes it weird. So Jeff Goodman,
you know, is tapped in obviously with the NBA, he said.
Bailey's agent, Omark Cooper, also wanted to get paid to
do on camera interviews this past season, and it seems though, though,
as Bailey has received some poor advice over the past year,
He's been.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
Paid for interview rubbed a lot of people wrong.

Speaker 4 (36:32):
People are saying again this is coming out from some
other NBA sources as Bailey's draft stock has been falling,
dude to his unwillingness to visit several teams in the
fact that he has yet to conduct a single workout.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
So this is where I think, Rob, you haven't done
one workout.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
No, this is where I think the max prep the
I've been having highlight mixtape since I was thirteen, start
to kick in the nil.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
These kids have been famous, Rob. This isn't a surprise.
We didn't see this player coming.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
The stories you and I used to hear about, right,
we didn't know kim Olajuwan just came. Remember remember his
story how I got to Houston, the college Houston. He's like,
I was supposed to go to dang Where was it?
He was supposed to go somewhere and it was cold
and he was like nah. And he found a fellow
African at the airport and he said, between these other
two spots, I forgot what the other ones? Which one
is warm? He said, you want Houston and he went

(37:23):
that's the reason why went to Uton. My point is
these are the days when we hear these amazing stories
of guy just landing here. These kids know they have
been making mixtapes dad, and that's fine, they've been popping
since they were thirteen fourteen years old.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
But you also can get a bad reputation. And I'm
just saying for all the Chador and I'm just saying
like like people could say, uh, it was just you
an anonymous quote or whatever, but there was something there,
like as far as his prep or you know, the
going there and not being engaged because he didn't really
want to go to that team.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
That's not a good look.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
You better be careful because people are investing millions.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
If they can do that to uh Luca Luca.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
I just think that that opens up a lot to
me because that was a situation.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
It was such a stunning trade. Nobody was the biggest.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
Everybody checked their phone eight times to make sure it
wasn't fake.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
It's Trumps tripping who the hack shams For me, I'm
looking at this is this is a to me. This
is a precursor of what's to come and a sign
of the era and the times that we're in. And
there's the good and the bad. The good is about
ten twelve years ago, you started having a lot of
athletes jump in on Twitter, jumping on social media because
they felt I can get my voice out. I can

(38:41):
do and say what I want to you, right for sure.
I can tell my narrative. I can tell how I feel.
I can show what I want to show the other
side of me, you might see the side on the
football field. I gotta be tough and crazy and wild,
but really I'm a nice guy, my family guy. And
that's great. They get to control their narrative. But I
think that's what we're seeing now is that I have
to be the one in control of every single aspect

(39:02):
of my life and career and you start to see
that with Kayla Williams and his father, you're starting you know,
we heard his reports that that they were trying to
go anywhere but Chicago. Didn't want to play in Chicago,
and I wanted to get down. Was it Washington? And
so we're in this era where everybody is because you're
able to with social media, with streaming hurt you if
there's the potential to that aching backfire. And it's Bailey

(39:24):
who doesn't see who seems like again he might be
really good. Well to see what the career ends up being.
This isn't a given. This isn't the back in the
day where guys are playing two, three, four years where
you saw Shaquille O'Neil and you went, oh, that's a
number one pick and even a question you saw Magic
Johnson play if.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
You gods, devin't played long enough and then now we
got okay, it looks good, but we really haven't seen
him play much and now could be a headache if
we get them.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
And do you want to wait? Here's the other side
to this.

Speaker 4 (39:51):
When I draft said young player at eight nineteen years old,
sometimes you have to wait for them to manifest right
to their twenty two to twenty three.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
Okay, now we see it.

Speaker 4 (39:58):
Now we see it, and do I want to go
through all this with you and deal with you and
your dad?

Speaker 1 (40:02):
And you don't want to go here. You're not doing.

Speaker 4 (40:03):
Workout, showing up for three years of you being eh
till finally you might pop.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Year three or year four, or you might not pop.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
And so that's the thing I think with a lot
of teams are weighing again, this isn't back in the
day when we saw grand Hill a duke for first
freshman sophomore jun you knew, Okay, so that's the top.
Dray Hills is gonna be nice. You can kind of
see those things coming. You saw kim O Lajawan, Clyde
Drex and these guys, James Worthy, these guys at North Carolina.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
You had to see them.

Speaker 4 (40:27):
You saw a young freshman Michael Jordan hit a game
winner in the finals and then project, you know, two
years later, we're getting hitting right and you right, you
look nice, but you you're you're acting as if you've
built up this five year career that we wereas you're
a shoe in and so you got to be careful
with having power and wanting to own your own destiny,

(40:49):
you want to make sure you're doing.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
It in a in a fair representation of yourself.

Speaker 3 (40:54):
You don't want to push people away, and people can
be turned off by

Speaker 4 (40:57):
That stuff, and it seems like some teams may be,
so we'll continue to watch them fold
