Former NBA veteran Olden Polynice is in for Rob, and he and Kelvin tell us why the NBA's 2nd Apron has made it imperative for teams to hit on all of their draft picks nowadays (not just the high lottery picks), and discuss whether Ace Bailey is really wrong for tanking his draft stock so he can land with what he believes is the 'right team'. Plus, NBA champion and FOX Sports Radio NBA analyst Eddie House swings by to discuss the Boston Celtics' current roster purge, how the Eastern Conference might shake out now that Boston and the Pacers seem to have fallen off, and much more! Finally, the Odd Couple Crew debates past #1 overall NBA Draft picks in this week's edition of One's Gotta Go.

Monty gets all giddy and excited about it. Rob usually

(01:54):
says it's too easy. It's Alex is ready for it,
and uh, Alex. It's gonna be a tough one though,
because it's all number one picks from the NBA Former,
you know, the last ten of the draft. So oh yeah,
you might have to know sports this. I'm a big
sports fan, I know. So see, you gotta got about
forty forty five minutes to study up.

Speaker 7 (02:12):
Who do you think Olden gets all his info from?

Speaker 3 (02:13):
And stop texting him? I know I've seen it and
you had his phone ringing too, right there? Sure, all right,
and uh let's get to it. Oh before we get
to the conversation about some more of this draft gets
getting ready to happen at any moment, tell us your show, Hey,
old Tony story.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
It's an embarrassing story, then volunteer.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
I know I thought when you whenever I hear Showy
tany it comes up now in my head. So anyway,
go to the Angels game, Angels Dodgers, and where end
up what they call that Diamond Club.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Yeah, I'm dug up without the Angels.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Yeah, it is the most amazing seats, right, amazing food everything. Well,
Olden gets a little greedy, start to eat and I'm
just eating eating. I'm not even asking what it is.
I'm just seating, So I don't I only go to
see show hair time, right, So the Dodgers up to
bed and somebody flies out, Mookie something happened with him.

(03:10):
So anyway, so he gets up right, inning's out. I'm like, okay, cool, nothing,
nothing to happen. Major come back around to his next
at bat. The begisels I gotta go. I'm in the

(03:30):
bathroom and our hair coming up shore head tottered, and
I'm like, oh my god. He hits on like four
hundred and thirty.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Foot home while you were up the back, and I'm
nowhere to be found.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
I'm like, I come back. Everybody say you missed it.
Oh my god, it was incredible. I'm like, yeah, whatever.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
The whole reason you went to the game and see
see him hit a home run? He said, I got you.
Don't worry about it. Come through tonight. I'm gonna hit
a whole run for you.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
You my guy.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
And then you mess around. You can't mess with you
can't listen. There's limits to ballpark food. You can't go crazy.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
It was so delicious.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
I just overkilled by the way I did this, that
I brought this up at you know, I do the
Spectrum News in the morning. I did anchor the news,
and I brought this up to them. Somehow I made
it on air and got nothing to do with the war,
and somehow it made it on air on the news. Manzi,
Alex Robbgi real quick, you have to have this if
you go to an NBA game, hockey guy, don't care

(04:32):
any ball game.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
What do you have to have? Popcorn? Is it beer?
Is it frosty Beveridge, frosty bag?

Speaker 3 (04:39):
You have to have that, okay, Manzi, Alex, killni for me.

Speaker 8 (04:45):
You know it depends a baseball If I'm going to
a game, I need a Dodger dog.

Speaker 7 (04:50):
If I'm going to a baseball game, ye, like you
didn't have.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
Five of them. I know. I don't do how the
as I don't do, Glzzy, I will.

Speaker 7 (05:02):
Tell you so. I don't even know that matters, but
I do want that.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
And then I want I need like a like a
like a chip, or like a like a nachos or
something crunchy.

Speaker 7 (05:10):
Yeah, you know, like I want like a.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Crunch Look the excitement in her face. I think y'all
would have been putting in some damage. And then I
gotta have that.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
It's not one, it's a multiple, Alex. I don't even
know the last time you've been to a game? But
what do you? What do you? What do you? What
do you eat?

Speaker 7 (05:23):
What's funniest?

Speaker 8 (05:23):
I don't even know the last time I went to
a game, I saw your brain a way Wait, what's
trying to think about it? I was like, did I go
to a soccer game when I was like twenty four?

Speaker 4 (05:30):
What if you did?

Speaker 7 (05:31):
Would easy? Give me like a joint? I'm chilling?

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Who sells that?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (05:37):
Where do you get?

Speaker 8 (05:38):
I think that's next to the Dodger dogs outside?

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (05:41):
Yeah, outside before you walk in?

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Is that because you had the munchies?

Speaker 7 (05:47):
Absolutely all right?

Speaker 4 (05:48):
That caught me off guard. I wouldn't expect it here.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
I am about to be a basic girls. Just give
me chicken strips and fries, that's my answer. Chickens because
the hot dogs and the glass. I think nachos is
the one real nachos, that's what.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
No fake.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Those nachos are the same nachos you get when you're
in middle school. Because I'm a good, real notcho.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
You didn't like them in middle school?

Speaker 3 (06:12):
No, that's the one era shut up, just the one
area where I was up at the that's not a
real nacho. So then I turned into a basic check.
Let mean, just not chicken steps and that's all you want,
the chicken chips and fries.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
That's all that's for me. Chicken chips.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
All right, let's get to it. I want to throw
this out. We got the draft getting ready to happen
here anymore. You see there's a Nico Harrison clapping it up.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Yo. I should text them.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
They're getting ready, they're on the clock. We're getting they
got the watch party back in Downas. But I think
more than ever a couple of reasons why I think
this odin. I think it's imperative now that you just
don't focus on the top five pick, the top ten pick,
or we got the seventh pick, the lottery pick. I
think it's imperative that you actually score. What did you say, uh,

(06:58):
while we were doing to break you said, man and
Brooklyn has like five fives. The thunder often have a
lot of pick. Celtics. I have had a bunch of picks.
I think you have to land that fourteenth pick, that
twenty third pick, that's where the draft begins, that twenty
ninth pick, because more than ever, teams are so deep
and you have to have a bunch of guys, who's

(07:18):
your Nimhart, who's your Nie Smith?

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Right? Who's your Jayalen Williams?

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Where he was the eleventh pick but he wasn't a
top five times?

Speaker 4 (07:24):
De White?

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Who's your great Point? Who's your Derek White? Who's your
second round guy that all of a sudden can play.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Who's your Nicola Jokic?

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Because I think more than ever, especially as we get
started to get into this first and second aprons. I
don't know where chef's in the kitchen or something, but
as we're getting to these aprons, what is it the
Mother's Day gift? Yes, we get into these aprons, like
I think it's imperative. You're not gonna be able to
just rely. Okay, I got this guy, and we're gonna
get a number. These guys are coming in.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
You know this.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
They're coming in in eighteen nineteen. You can't expecting to
change a franchise. It's gonna take him four or five years,
and by then you might be out on them, or
by then you might have had to maneuver the whole roster.
So to me, I want to get this guy who's
twenty two. Nobody's talking about, but he had four or
five great years in college, and I'm like, man, I'm
gonna pick him up and he's gonna be that guy

(08:17):
who just comes in, gives me eight nine points, plays
great defense, hits big shots. And I think you have
to get these guys, these these guys early and get
it right because you have to have depth, you have
to have score, and you're gonna have to find a
diamond in the rough because you can't just pay everybody.
And that's the reason why the Celtics are blowing this
thing up. You would think, why go for it again?
If Tatum didn't get injured, maybe you can win. They're saying,

(08:38):
we gotta blow this thing up. This is why you
get the general manager talking about we might have to
trade in Nikola Jokics.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
That sounded like blasphemy. A year ago is crazy for me.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
A year ago now he never in the history we
heard someone say, I mean, you might have just trade Kobe,
you might have just trade Peak Shack, you might have
trade peak Lebron. Wait what yeah right, and keep your
job because the next it fired like.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Well Nico just did it. Yeah, well, I think he
might go full Anko and do something with this. Y'all
thought I was getting Cooper.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Y'all thought I just brought this up just because y'all
thought we were planting the flag with flag No, but
do you feel me on you have to get these
Usually we disregard picks. Oh man, you got the eighteen pick, whatever,
who cares? Twenty eighth pick, who cares? You gotta get
this right because you gotta hope two of the three
in your first round are guys that can play and

(09:28):
contribute a Cason Wallace come in play big minutes, and
it's not about you averaging twenty. It's that you play
a vital role, a pivotal role in his team. Because
you look at the Pacer deep, you look at the
Thunder deep, you look at Minnesota deep. You look at
the Celtics before all the injuries and everything. What was
their thing? A bunch of guys who can shoot past,
dribble deep. And you look at Detroit deep deep, and

(09:48):
that's why Orlando deep. And you look at the teams
that are coming depth, and I think it's and that's
why tonight is not just gonna be about the first
four or five guys.

Speaker 5 (09:58):
But that's why I'm thinking, like with the Lakers, perfect
example of being here, in la I don't believe they deep.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
No, they're not.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
They need they need a lot of pieces. They need
younger pieces, but that are athletic and can play. You know.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
It's like Lebron's gonna be Lebron. It's unfortunate in a way.
It's the good and the bad, the blessing and the curse.
Luca's gonna be Luca. But the problem is Luca goes
full Luca and Lebron goes full Lebron. Under pressure, Yeah,
you revert back to who you are, and so to me,
that's the issue. So you gotta go find these guys.

(10:36):
You gotta go find that diamond and rub that kid
that no one's talking about. But one of your scouts
has had his eyes on him for the last two
three years.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (10:46):
And unfortunately we don't see enough of that. We see
it from all these other teams. Okay, man, whatever Aglaoma
City's doing, Man, people need to Sam Presty, he's got it.
They need to study that.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Sam Presty is last decade or so has been crazy
with the finding, the dominoes, making the trades, getting this
print s. Yeah, you're giving a Paul George watch this.
I mean, they have been masterful. And that's why I
think he finally had his crowning moment finally getting this
title because we've all he's won how many times he
can't win executive year and all that he finally was
able to get the championship to validate all the moves

(11:17):
he was making and uh and and the successful moves
I mean and shuet dude drafted kd Russ Harden. I mean,
you you just you can spot talent that that person,
that person that m v P m v P, m
v P s g a m v P under our watch.

Speaker 5 (11:34):
He's got a bunch of m vps under his watch.
Sam Presty is a master. You know, you brought up
a great point with Luke and Lebron. They're gonna have
to realize y'all need some speed athleticism. It can't just
be Luca dribble drip drip dude, Minnesota. That's why they
beat uh Denver two years ago. Now that the season

(11:54):
is over, it was athleticism. Bunch of guys. They could
just throw at Yoki.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
Like what is going on?

Speaker 3 (11:59):
And they had long six foot seven eight just they
all look to say six eight with a with a
headband on it, and they.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
Do the same thing. You didn't even know who they were.
I don't know one of them is that, Oh that's
the other guy. That's that's that Daniel alex Mikael Alexander.
But like, okay, see they got like seventeen Williams is
they got nine jailing Williams. It's like they put them
out there. You're like, okay, which Williams is this?

Speaker 3 (12:21):
He want on call Rogerie, one of the announcers said instead,
because they they do have the two Jayden Williams.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
He's like he would call him.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
He would say the all Star one or something basically
like this spect the other one.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
He'd be like the good will one. That's all.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
It was like something he says to this, the bummy one,
Like yo, that's you guys, Flagran.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
You're gonna have to call him something. They call him
j Dubb something else you can.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
Then you make a move like harden Stein yep and
Caruso come on, man.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
Another what was he was?

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Cruiser undrafted right and yeah, and so you gotta get
these guys, man, lou dort a big cogging.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
What they do do it?

Speaker 5 (12:57):
Yes, that's what I'm saying, you know, I oh, I
wish we had had more time with Matt because it's like,
those are the things that's when scouts are earning their money.
Cooper Flag is easy. The potentials there, you're gonna pick them.
You have the draft pick number one, you have to
pick them there. Most of these guys they like easy selections.
It's the guys like we all just mentioned that, ooh,

(13:19):
that's when you start earning your pay.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Can you go find that during guy for the pisses
were like, oh shoot, what is he? Major's a rebounding
Duncan machine. Can you go find those other pieces that
end up being huge for playoff?

Speaker 6 (13:30):
Right?

Speaker 3 (13:30):
I mean that's and that's why the Pacers can have
where Tyre's Halliburn, they can win he at twelve points
because they are a bunch of other guys that can
do a bunch of other things and just keep the
team aflowid And I think that's just the current place
we are, especially with the Aprons happening as well.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. You will hop
in in this.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
And if you see it where these teams depth matters
more than ever. They already made the pick, oh, the
pick is in. There's no surprise there. I guess there
it is. Cooper Flag will be at Dallas Maverick. He's
there with his family now looking clean. You like the suit.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
It's kind of, you know, like a real estate agent.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Yeah, he got a he's in this. Yes, he does
sell luxury, luxury homes.

Speaker 5 (14:15):
And those hats are a lot nicest in that championship happened,
gave out and I'm kind of sweet.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
I throwback, snap back, like nice, Well it happened. Cooper
Flag is the number one pick. He is the second
youngest number one pick. He's eighteen years, one hundred and
eighty six days. Lebron James beat him by about one
hundred days or so. Well, he's the number one pick.
Another highly touted probably beat him by eight days, eight days.
I had why I had one hundred on there?

Speaker 4 (14:39):
I don't know. I told you remember the grades. That's
why I talked for a living.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Uh. There's another touted, highly uh respected pick who is
taking But will a team pick him early? We'll tell
you STI couple. We got Olden in for Rob kelvin Washington.

Speaker 6 (15:53):
Wrap.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
But I know your kids hate when you do that. No,
this is a real rap. You don't understand it. When
I have, you don't understand. It's just it's the vibe. Now,

(16:20):
it's the vibe. I hate the.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
That's the best part to me. Stop, that's to me.
If that's all I gotta do, I'm going platinum.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
And I do it in public with them. That's what
we want to do.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
It as as a parent right Fox Sports Radio own
Polonies and for Robe kelvin Washington, which you want to
worship Wednesday?

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Dj Aly Alex on the Ones that was a worship? Yes, oh,
I feel bad, right, but we didn't do that.

Speaker 7 (16:45):
What are you doing?

Speaker 4 (16:46):
You know? And I like that. I like that the
kids who are faith have some music they can vibe to.
I like that.

Speaker 7 (16:51):
That's all moving forward, all right.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
It's the one kid I want to look at what
I'm gonna get you his name one one that was
something one once up from Atlanta.

Speaker 8 (17:00):
He's I'm gonna get the exact man, just so you
know what song title was. Nobody but God, Okay, Oh
I like that.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Okay, okay, I might have to start listening. That's what
I'm trying to tell you. They got some. They got
some out here, all right? So we got oh A's Bailey.
He's on the screen right now.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
Yeah, they just show vj as come to So hey,
seventy six is are gonna dictate what's going on with
the rest of the draft?

Speaker 3 (17:20):
YEP, the pick is in for the Philadelphia seventy six ers.
Will it be as Bailey? And while we're waiting, Golden
a lot of folks. We had a conversation earlier with
Matt Babcock just talking about he's doing this kind of
abnormal the way his approach usually go to. You go
all the meetings of visits me. You just want to
put them on high. How you doing, I'm a good guy.
You work out. They say, all right, we like this kid,

(17:41):
and sometimes this is our guys, move up. We thought
you were around the thirteenth pick, you move up to
seven to fifth. And he has been doing the opposite.
He is turned on every visit. Yeah, he hasn't gone anywhere,
got agents saying he doesn't want to play with certain players,
thinking don't want to play with the mellow ball, and
just putting words, you know, kind of this vibe out
there and you wonder will it backfire, will he drop?

Speaker 4 (18:02):
Or does not of it matter? Because the kid, it
do no matter. You're too good. I'm drafted regardless, It
really doesn't matter. But it's more of a control thing
that teams do. VJ.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
Edgecomb actually was selected yep, but yeah, which is a
great pick up for Philadelphia.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
But does he stay there? But yeah, it's like you
ain't know what I can do?

Speaker 5 (18:22):
You know your Mick draft has me in the top five,
So what's gonna change my workouts? You know, I might
have a bad workout, but again, I've shown enough in college,
you know, to let you know what I'm capable of.
And that's what I used to say. Like perfect example
is Klay Thompson. Klay Thompson. You know it went eleventh.

(18:43):
If Klay Thompson goes and works out or not work out,
it doesn't matter. But let's say he goes and works
out and has a bast shooting day, He's still gonna
get drafted eleventh because they look at his mechanics. Oh,
he just had an off day, and you know what
you like? Yes, guy, you know what, like Lonzo Balls
still win number two because they liked all the other things.

(19:05):
Even with that crook. We knew what the shot looked like,
but he it was like, yo, I'm the best guard
coming in at the number two, and so I'm still
gonna get picked number two even with that ugly jump shot.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Now you got VJ.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Edgecombe, who just they just showed he uses an IL
money to help his former high school and the Bahamas
and just helped fund them and help. When you hear
stuff like that, you like that because you know we'll
come on here me first one. You gotta neui or something.
And when you know you got these kids doing some great.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
Things, positivity doesn't sell.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Ain't that a blip? But I love to hear that.
But but I'll say this way, he's baby. I don't
like what he's doing, but I get the concept of
trying to dictate your own path because what happens is
David All just wrote a great piece in the The
Athletic about what if you blew up the draft and guys,
instead of having to go, you go where you want,

(19:59):
right cool Cooper Flag like, hey this I fit here.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
I want to go mess with Steph before he leaves.
We've been saying that.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Yeah, and that becomes a real conversation. I think we
you know, you and I. She may even have at
some point a little further. And you know why it
won't happen. Why because of what we're doing right now
watching this. If you take all of that away, you
take all that money away, then you think they're in
the business of losing money.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
But would it still be they just went to two
days now, But what we still watch because we don't know,
like we oh, shoot Cooper flag like, I don't know
where he's is he gonna.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Go to doat? Okay, so you turn it into a
selection type show.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Yeah, so it so Cooper flags up, he gets up
there and this is our David David Alders. As a
matter of fact, I'm gonna tell you more what he said, uh,
in a little bit. I want to save that because
we gotta get right now. We got Eddie House getting
ready to come up. But I think you'll think you'll
like his proposition if you will, All right, Manci Belanio
is gonna get it set on training. We got some
draft picks in Monti.

Speaker 2 (20:52):

Speaker 3 (21:03):
It is the couple Kevin Washington, Olden Polonies and for
Rob on a worship Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
Oh my god, I was just gonna say this, could
we have a Chadua repeat?

Speaker 3 (21:14):
And that is why where we get to a lot
of people don't like what he's doing.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
And does NBA try to show an NBA version of that?

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Well, let's ask our guests right now Eddie House, NBA Champion,
NBC Sports Boston, Fox Sports Radio, NBA analysts, Emmy Award winner,
and somebody can help us understand what the heck Boston
doing right now?

Speaker 4 (21:36):
Eddie I said, everybody can get it self.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
You can get a self, you can get it self
to everybody can get a Celtic. What is going on
up there?

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Man?

Speaker 6 (21:43):
Man, I think that I don't know if I was
on y'alls on this show or if I was on
the FS one, Craig Carton is saying that those two
guys were the two guys that they were gonna offload.
Not that I have insider information, I'm not gonna say that,

(22:04):
but I knew from the beginning when the new ownership came,
they're they're not trying to get in that second apron.
That second apron costs a lot of money. They cost
a lot of money to buy them number one, the
team number one, And you don't want to be in
that situation. So you look at Jew Holliday, being an
older guy, having more years on his contract. He was

(22:27):
a guy that you would look in and say, hey,
you know, we can make a move with him. Somebody
would want him. And then on the flip side KT
as much as he's the people's champ for Boston, you
know what I mean. I've been at games where he
comes out and he makes a round around, he makes
around through the arena and everybody is cheering like he's

(22:51):
the people share with a coffee in his hand. He
was the people's champ, but he's not available, and the
best ability is availability. And so when I looked at it,
I was like, those are the two guys that could
possibly be dealt. I don't I didn't think both of
them will be dealt, but I knew that one of
one of the two would be dealt, if not both

(23:12):
of them. I didn't think both of them me myself,
But you know the way that way what's happening right
now is uh, it's a retooling. They understand that next year, Hey,
guess what, they we're not going to make a push
for the championship with no Jason Tatum, with your best
player out, And so they made that move.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
What teammate?

Speaker 6 (23:38):
What's up with an OPI?

Speaker 5 (23:40):
So let me ask you this, So you you tell
me that you think that the Celtics are done with
with the moves.

Speaker 6 (23:47):
I don't know if they're I don't know if they're done.
I think that there's they still have. They still got
some wiggle rooms. You know, they got some other players
as well, but there you go. So I think they
got some they got some wiggle Like, I don't think
they're done, But I know Brad Stevens is a mastermind.

(24:12):
He's a genius over there, right, and he's not gonna
just sit on his hands. That's what he's not gonna do.
And I think this is the great greatest opportunity for
Jaylen Brown because he's been asking for this to show him,
show everybody that he can carry a franchise. And I
think this is what's happening right now. Okay, you think

(24:36):
you could carry a franchise. We've paid you three hundred
million dollars in the contract. Are you going to be
able to do this for a duration of a season.
Are you going to be able to carry it to
a playoff because if they win one playoff series, that
would be a you know, a thumbs up to Jalen Brown.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Okay, well, and by the way, we're watching this draft
as well.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
We just got the fourth pick into the Hornets and
is kN k Nipple and uh it wasn't as Bailey
by the way he said he didn't want to play
with LaMelo.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
So let me ask you about that Eddie House.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
Our guests again in the I Couple, Kelvin Washington, Owden
Polonies and for Rob do you you've been keeping up
whiw Ace. Bailey has kind of handled himself the last
few weeks when it comes to the draft, not visiting teams,
his agent wants to get paid for interviews, saying that
he doesn't want to play with certain people like LaMelo
and do you like this, and that he's trying to
empower his his his client or a's trying to advocate

(25:30):
for himself. Do you say, man, this is a terrible
way to go about it. You're gonna want to come
into the league already having bad you know, bad rep.

Speaker 6 (25:38):
That's how your stock slides. That's that's exactly how you
go from being a guy that could be a top
five pick and maybe he gets picked with the next pick.
You know, maybe he does, and maybe this is something
that they already had worked out and somebody's so his agent,
this is what we're gonna do. We're taking him no
matter what. This is who we want. If he there

(26:00):
we're taking him. But I don't like for me, I
don't like to go about it like in that situation.
You know, because you haven't proved anything in the league.
You don't have any cashet in the league, and so
the league is different from college Rutgers is not the
same as the NBA. Okay, And so with that being

(26:24):
said me myself, I would I would have advised my kid.
You know. If I'm talking about my kids that are
trying to do this right now, I would not advise
them to do it in that in that manner, And
if anybody was telling them to do that, I would
be on the phone with them and we will be

(26:44):
having a real conversation. Damn. There you know fits the cuff, like, okay,
where I got to meet you at because I don't
like what you're saying, you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (26:58):
And I know you've been keeping up with NBA basketball
and the topic, the topic of the day, topic the
jour is this the Achilles issues with you know, like
Dame Lillard, Tatum and recently Halliburton. What's your take on that,
because they're trying to say that is because of a

(27:19):
long season. We all you know, me and you we
played that in the maighty two games and all that.
What's your take on that about it being because of
the season, or do you have a different take on
why these guys are having these Achilles tills.

Speaker 6 (27:30):
No, I don't don't. I don't have a different take.
I mean, I don't have a take on saying like
it's because of the long season. I'm not going to
say that. I think it's this. It's a combination of
two things. I actually talked to a trainer that is
in the league right now, right and yesterday. Actually we
have probably an hour long conversation, and my take was,

(27:53):
you know, the kids are playing so many games when
they're young au wise, you know what I mean, when
you're eight to twelve to fifteen, and then fifteen to
seventeen is kind of where they slow it down to
condense it. But through that eight to fifteen, they play
a lot of games, you know what I mean. And

(28:14):
while their body is developing, they're also breaking it down.
And then I was saying to him about that, he
was like, yeah, that's one component. But then he also
told me, he said, you know the other component is
the way guys are training. You know, eighty two game season.
You know, with low management and all that, you're gonna
sit down. Some games we played, we tried to because

(28:36):
it was a badger honor to play eighty two games
or play as many games as you could, right, and
so you trained for that in the summer. They're not
training at least what I heard from him. He said,
guys don't train the exact same way that guys back
then did for eighty two game season because they're not
going to play eighty two games. And then when they

(28:58):
get to the playoffs, then all of a sudden, you
got to turn it on to be you know, playing
as hard as you can, as fast as you can
is everything is, you know, the quick twitch and all
of that stuff. It's just not is not the same.
So I think it's a combination of the AAU and
the lack of the way the trainers are training them.

(29:21):
They're training them just for move and jump shots or
moves and finishing at the rim, but they're not strength
training them at the same time.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
Yeah, I definitely can understand that we got a champion
now and it is the of course, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
We have SGA. They got Jaden Williams and they got
a bunch of death. We all inside up here and
just talked about how important depth is. Maybe the most
sense I do on back, maybe like in the eighties,
where you just got to be deep. You can't just
have a guy or too. I think the era of

(29:52):
we got two guys, maybe two and a half, and
we should be good enough.

Speaker 4 (29:55):
We got a spot up, shoot in the corner.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
And we'll be all right, or we gotta you better
have eight nineteen eleven guys. I mean we've seen where
all twelve have played in meaningful games and meaningful minutes.
Do you think and part of this I like it too,
your team the Celtics with a bunch of guys who
can shoot, passing, dribble kind of people saying we got
to have that?

Speaker 4 (30:13):
Is that the new modern NBA?

Speaker 3 (30:15):
And also how important is it to land some of
these other picks, the seventeenth pick, the twenty eighth pick,
so you can have these guys who can play those roles.

Speaker 6 (30:24):
I think it's always been like that in the league.
I don't think it's been one guy or two guys.
You gotta think let's go back to Michael Jordan, right,
because you know that's the three peat and then another
three piece. You think the second three peat, they had
the Ron Harper's of the world. They had the Tony
Kuk coach of the world. That had Scottie Fiffen. I mean,
they had Dennis Rupt, They had guys out there. They

(30:48):
had guys that could come off the bench and give
you quality minutes, you know what I mean. And I
think that death always been the model of the league.
Is just with social and the globalization and also the
media hype around certain guys makes it seem like it's

(31:09):
just one guy's team. It's never been that. It's always
been a team game. You can't win the game with
just one guy. Michael Jordan's didn't win a championship too.
He had help, Okay, he just didn't do that. You
look at the Boston Celtics earlier in Bird's career when
they won, you got to think he was playing with McHale.

(31:31):
McHale was coming off the bench. By the way, he
was playing with McHale. He was playing with Dennis Johnson
Hall of Fame. Yeah, Cedric Maxwell, who was an MVP
of the finals. I mean, we could go on and
on and on, and when you look at these teams,
It's just it's not like that hoop is different people.

(31:53):
Just like when guys are polarizing right there. They got
shoes that are selling and they do certain things in
certain situations. Everybody look at that. But it's always been
a team game. Man.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Well we have as Bailey selected to uh, the Utah Jazz,
which I don't know if the Jazz was on his list,
the teams, I don't know if that was on the time.

Speaker 6 (32:18):
It don't even matter if they was on his list,
he was on they list.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
You right, great, point you right about it, Eddie. We
gotta go, brother, great to have you on his adways,
appreciate you.

Speaker 6 (32:28):

Speaker 4 (33:31):
Figure it out?

Speaker 3 (33:35):
All right, it is time for the ones Gotta go.
And this is the last ten number one picks version
of this so olden Moncei, Alex rob G I'm gonna
throw out the last ten number one picks in the NBA,
and then I'm gonna give you five. I'm saying of
the SEMy phrase, a five of the last ten, and

(33:55):
then you tell me the one that you say, Nah,
he can go.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
He's good. But he can go. All right? You ready?

Speaker 3 (34:01):
So I've just picked up at ten the guys that
I think are the you know the ones, if you will,
So here we go and Anthony Edwards, women Yama. I'm
gonna include Cooper Flag because that's what makes it news
because Cooper Flag would just win number one. Kay Cunningham
and Paulo Ben Carrol Cooper Flagg. You're kicking him out already, already.

(34:28):
He ain't done, Rogerie. Do we have a new record
of This is too easy?

Speaker 4 (34:31):
Rob Parker? Wow, this is too easy.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
This is too easy. No matter what the thing is,
this is too easy. Rob Sterling? Or we got the
new run own in Sterling Junior in the building. What
is going on?

Speaker 2 (34:48):
All right?

Speaker 5 (34:48):
Why is it Cooper Flag? Everybody else is established. I
know what they can do.

Speaker 4 (34:54):
I can't argue with you there sheesh.

Speaker 7 (34:57):
I mean he's right, this is too You shouldn't.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
Have been clear.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
Guess what I can do?

Speaker 6 (35:01):
Well?

Speaker 4 (35:02):
What start the show over? Start one?

Speaker 10 (35:04):
Gotta go, start it over, figure it out.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
That's right. Well for the ones gotta go. We're gonna
take five things.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
We're gonna put it up against each other, and you
gotta pick one that has to go.

Speaker 7 (35:22):
I think he misremembers that.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Remember what Man in Black hits you with the little
thing in the movie, the little pin. You don't remember nothing. Damn,
he don't remember nothing about last time. Montuh, let's do
it again. I'm gonna give you five number one picks
recent I get here, Yeah, and you gotta tell me
one who's apt to go?

Speaker 4 (35:40):
All right?

Speaker 3 (35:40):
And we're not gonna include Cooper Flag because he's so young.
While will we include him?

Speaker 4 (35:44):
All right?

Speaker 3 (35:45):
Here we go, Paulo, benk Carrol Anthony Edwards. When Ben Yama,
Kay Cunningham, Carl Anthony towns, Wow, one's gotta go take
that Cooper Flag, take that for data.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
Now he's thinking, oh, the reason that I had a
star Yama is a star, is not a star.

Speaker 7 (36:24):
There's only one thing he's done great on. That's get
blood clots?

Speaker 4 (36:26):
So far yo, blood clod Yo Rossie. What's up with
Alex and people's ailments? You remember what he said? Except
I don't have nothing to turning back on that I
have to go with.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
It's gonna be a toughs between Bank Carrol and call
Anthony town.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
What one's gotta go?

Speaker 2 (36:53):
Now?

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Look at you Cooper flag easy now look at you.
It was what was?

Speaker 5 (36:57):
I don't remember it. I'm gonna go with call Anthony
town He's gotta go. Okay, all right.

Speaker 4 (37:02):
Mazi Olden and I are right on that.

Speaker 7 (37:04):
Actually, I love Palo Ban Caro.

Speaker 4 (37:06):
I love Palo Ban Cao.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
So for me, it was between Kate Cunningham and Carl
Anthony Towns.

Speaker 7 (37:12):
Excuse me, and I'm taking Carl Anthony Towns.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
And you didn't say, Kate, I know the rest of
the day, you don't exist to me, rob g. This
one's also easy for me for a different reason though.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (37:23):
Before you joined the show, me and Chris, we started
at a bet on which tall, skinny, lanky, awkward dude career.
I remember this, and I put all my eggs in
the chat home basket. It's the one he's got a championship.
The other one is going to become a monk soon.
So Webby can stay over there. We're sticking with chet homeground.

Speaker 4 (37:41):
Wow. Wow, Wow, I didn't see that coming.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
Everyone knows it's Wimby. Don't play that, no more, never play.
We don't know that, all right, Alex, you up, mister sports.

Speaker 8 (37:51):
He already made it, said, oh yeah, you did say that.

Speaker 7 (37:53):
What is Winby done?

Speaker 3 (37:56):
I tried to get to make fun of his ailments
at least blue out choose. Oh my gosh, that's a
good point. Look at you though your sports knowledge? All right,
this one of this was a little This was a
little tough for me because one of them is the oldest.
He's the last of the ten, and so we've seen
what he's done the most. Uh, and a couple of
guys you know, have to wait and see. I will
say I do get the Winby. Whereas are we gonna

(38:17):
always be wondering with Winby? That's the concern? Oh what
could have been? And man, the talent Kate is absolutely
in this. He was an MVP candidate.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
You mean he could have been.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
You know what I'm saying, like with the ailments and
he's a seven his tne.

Speaker 5 (38:33):
Big man. That's what y'all. Big men stick together, That's
what's going on. Wait up, you forget. You must not
have been hearing the show last year. I was like, Hey,
I've seen this version of a big You call him
a new Bowl?

Speaker 4 (38:43):
No, I didn't call him a new Bowl. That was crazy, Sam.
There we go.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
The answer is Karl Anthony Towns in a compliment. Anyway,
He's had a nice career. But I think Kate Cunningham
is on the verge of being a regular MVP candidate. Wenby,
we know that the ceiling is through the roof. I
think Hollow is on the way. Hollow is on the way,
and it is a superstar just by popularity, by what
he does. Kat, you gotta go.

Speaker 4 (39:10):
Everyone knows it's whimsy.
