Speaker 1 (02:16):
A report out that Dawn Staley was interviewed by the
New York Knickerbockers.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah, it actually happened over the weekend. Guys.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
There was a report that came out from Knicks Fan TV.
Never heard of him, but they had reported over the
weekend show that Don Staley had met with the Knicks
brass about their vacant head coaching position. Now that story
was not picked up really anywhere because honestly, who's Knicks
Fan TV. We have no idea, who they are, how
(02:49):
riputable they.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Are, what have you? Well?
Speaker 4 (02:51):
On Tuesday morning, the Athletic confirmed that yes, Don Staley
did meet with the Knicks front office, and while they
were very impressed with her presentation and their conversation, they
decided not to move forward with her in the head
coaching church. And right now, all signs point to the
team bringing in Mike Brown, former Calves, former Lakers, former
(03:13):
Kings head coach to be the next head man in Gotham.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Can I say this, I'd rather have Charlie Brown at
this point. I mean Mike Brown. Really, I'm sorry, H'm
He's been everywhere, and you know, the teams are all
pretty good, but but really, Mike Brown.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Mike Brown, Mike Woodson. I just told me he's the
anti Tips. That's basically where you're at. But I don't
get that.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
I'm serious if Mike Brown came with something or championship,
but then I'm all in. Really, the guy got fired
five game from the Lakers. That guy, Mike Brown, that's
the guy that bring it to New York. Come on,
if you're gonna make that move, it's gotta be somebody
who's got a chip in the back.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Pocket.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
You said Mike Malone, and I didn't think he was
a guy, but I got your premise.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
He's got a ring. You can't say he's tips out here.
Well he's too. No, he's not.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Guess why Tim don't have a ring. That's why, you know,
I have a job.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
And this is this is why again I go back
to Donald, Donald Sterling, Jim Dolan. You know, oh man,
we gotta quit going for shiny things and quit when
we got something.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
We got to ride it out.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
We can't just keep making these moves and then they
make the move like okay, now, okay, re treading all right?
Speaker 1 (04:19):
But anyway, anyway, Dawn Staley, I mean tremendous basketball college
basketball coach and all that. I don't even you know,
coaching is coaching. You know, men have coached women forever,
and this whole idea, and so I don't I'm not
any questions about whether or not she could coach. I
just the game is the game, so I think she
(04:42):
can coach. I just don't think it's going to happen,
and I don't think the NBA is ready for it
because it was all set up. Becky Hammond was supposed
to be the first female coach. She got anointed by pop.
Everybody pop all, I love Pop, right, and is all
the success that he had.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
She was the assistant.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
She was an assistant coach sitting there, right, and she
got a few interviews. It never panned out. Where is
she now? Is she in the she's w NBA coach.
So she's a w n B A and that's what
she wound up and uh in Vegas.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
And I just think that.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
They just people aren't ready for that, just like people
aren't ready for a female president of the United States.
I really believe that because we saw it happen twice.
But I just don't believe that. You know, it was
nice and out of respect to her and to have
a conversation, get her feel for the game and what
is she seeing? You know, like a lot of these
interviews are fact finding too.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
What would you do? What are we doing wrong?
Speaker 6 (05:48):
You know?
Speaker 5 (05:50):
And you're taking all these notes too.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
That's a good point exactly, you know what, Yeah, we
should do that. Didn't we run his own in the
fourth one cat at the end of the quarters? Yeah
he should. He shouldn't be in there, Jayalen Brunson, don't
have to pound the ball out the air off the ball,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
So so I get why they bring in people because
they want to hear these these basketball minds and see
what they're seeing.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
So it's a and it's a it's a it's it's
good for her too.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Like, oh wow, the Knicks interviewed you when you go
back to college and they're like, wow, okay, well you
getting NBA feelers.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
That could only help you if you're if you're doing stale.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
You just led me to a point I was gonna make.
I think it will happen eventually. I was talking to
robb Gie earlier and I said, I think we'll see
it in the next three to four years. Yeah, I
think we'll see it then. I just think that's just
the way society is going. I think that's the way
the NBA is getting really unique, very progressive ownerships. And
I think some of them will say I want to
be the one to have done this first. But the
(06:51):
with a perfect spot that listen, I have no argument
with that. Becky had we It was almost more of
a shock.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
She didn't get it. We wait that kind of sat there.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
Pop is always progressive and in him being back it said.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
I'm gonna be honest, it said something about her because
she had interviews and and it didn't happen. I'm just
saying because it was she laid the groundwork, She had
everything set up for this to happen.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
Do you understand what I'm saying?
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Like the the ultimate endorsement by Pop on the bench,
people respected her, she did put in her dudes one
like they rushed her to the front of.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
The line, all that she's the person that if it happens,
no one's mad.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Oh yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, it's kind of smart.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
That it didn't happen for her is what makes me
question who else has done all those steps, you know
what I mean and gotten the endorsement.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
That's what I'm shocked box.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
So I'm looking at this too. So going back to
don Staley, I think the reason why this is significant
is because I think Don Staley, if you, if you
kind of kept track of what she said, because you know,
she gets asked this question, what'd you go, Tony?
Speaker 3 (07:56):
What you go do with this? And she's always said her,
she's maintained her. She believes her.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
Kind of a plight or not plight, but her journey
in life is to continue to promote the game for
the w NBA, continue to promote South Carolina, continue to
promote for the women. She said, I know it'd be cool,
and I get it, but I just feel like I'm
led to just do that. And the reason why I
think an interview like this matters because even if the
Knicks say, I know, you're not really interested, because that
(08:22):
was the other port, right rob G, They're not, They
weren't serious, it would just kind of have this.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Meeting with her.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
I think they knew there that she's not fully interested.
She knew that they're not fully interested per se. And
I think this is big so that it becomes more normalized,
so that it's, oh, yeah, we're interviewing Beckym. Oh yeah,
we're going to be down stay though, and it's not
like what really And I think she takes it as
a step toward it to become that so that when
the next team thinks of people, they can think of somebody.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
New York is a great play, some good steakhouses, some
good food in there when they go and they you
know what I mean, not take you out to them,
Oh you take the meeting. You know this in the
business listen, except.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
For Chris and I used to have big arguments about this,
and I like, if there's no job, I'm not going
to an interview. I'm talking about an interview that where
there's no job, like they're just kind of doing a
dog and pony show.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Like I don't believe in that. Yeah, and I just don't.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
If there's a job, I'm interested in going, but like
to just be like like the NFL does, like what
like you know that.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Because we have to, we need to, we need to
just bring you with this.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
But I remember when Matt Millan was going to hire
the Steve Marriucci has a Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Everybody knew it.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
And they couldn't get one brother to come to Detroit
to do the Rooney Rules. It was because they knew
what it was. It was a sham. And so people
don't do me like that. If the job's open, you know,
I'm interested in going. You don't have to hire me.
Forced to hire me, but don't have me come in
act like the jobs open and you already picture guy.
Speaker 5 (09:55):
But what if it's past October sixth and it's the
world's best cheesecare place and they got some I'm not going.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Instead of not going nope, Okay, I'm not and she's there.
I'm not going. Okay, Montreal is there. Well, that's different.
I might have to at least get some cream for
dinner again.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
But to get back to the conversation, I just think
this was big for Don Staley, big for other women,
big for the Nixon that these conversations are having happening
and it's semi normalizing it to whereas oh, she's having
an interview and it's kind of just becomes normal, like
all right, they're considering, you know, another female candidate. Okay,
it's up there, because I don't you mentioned it earlier.
(10:39):
I remember when these conversations started happening, especially when we
start to see a lot of female assistance in the NFL.
And I believe the NFL will do this way before
the NFL, because I think there's an inherent you didn't play.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
You think who will do it the NBA before the
NFL have a female coach, because.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
I think the NBA the game is the game, CDA,
I can't see the NFL. That's what I'm say. Because
you spent time and we love her. She's a friend
of the show, you personal friend for you. Nancy Leberman.
So if she ended up being a coach, he's coaching
a Big Three, and it's like whatever, who You don't
even think if I told you Sheryl Miller, if I
was coming into some college or and she was my coach,
(11:16):
if Pat Summit was Mike, you didn't think, all right, cool.
And it's you know, there's a handful of people that
just it boom and automatically makes sense. And the game
is different. You game is the game. You play the game.
It's the same with the NFL. I just don't see
that happen because I think there's an inherent you didn't play,
you don't know what if it was, like there's a physicality,
and I just think it will. I don't think it's
gonna happen for at least one hundred years in the NFL,
(11:38):
Whereas the NBA. I think in a handful of years
we're gonna see this happen.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
With these there's a better chance. Yeah, definitely. I just
think it wouldn't. You wouldn't.
Speaker 5 (11:46):
You'd go you'd be sitting at Friday's Chili's wherever, like
Becky Hammon is oh okay, wow okay.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
And you go about too gonna happen.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
Right, you would, Whereas if all of a sudden I
told you then and then and then such and such
as the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, You'll be like, whoa,
what it'd be. It'd be a big deal. N B
A I think you'd almost go, oh, yeah, that makes sense.
Don state, Oh that's kind of dope, you know what
that makes Okay?
Speaker 3 (12:11):
I think I think the minor baseball is a few
in the minor leagues.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
I think one bank them is it NBA first?
Speaker 3 (12:19):
We both agree that.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
I just think because the game is so much similar, right,
and you have people on that level coaching major college
basketball yep.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
And the Browns interview kind of lean the rice that
was for the team president, right. Yeah, So there's some
there's some moves happening obviously, sees what the college football
playoffs and the whole you know, seeding there. I think
it would go NBA, m l B, NFL, and I
think the other the other two take a while. I
think MLB and football like hold up, take a long time.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
I agree, But I think basketball is the same game.
I definitely. I think three to four years.
Speaker 5 (12:57):
Rob's both of y'all think we're gonna see it happened
in the NBA s of ownership.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Is gonna be like, I'm gonna say, it's a little
longer than that, but I do because Becky hammerwoods right.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
On the But to me it went backwards. Don Staley's
players are gonna be like, go do it to prove
that you can do it. Go prude.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
They're gonna do it like now, She's gonna do it
at some point. Watch That's what I believe.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
All right.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
We talked about it, Damian Lillard being released, good thing,
bad thing for him.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
We'll tell you next.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
It's the I couple, Rod Parker, Kevin Washington, Fox Sports Radio,
Free Dame Dollar.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to

Speaker 1 (13:37):
You didn't say it to us, say to this tell
us no, I'd say this is in my top ten easily.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
West End Girls. Oh that makes that's about three or
four songs. That's why he left East Coast and the
West End Girls.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
That's right. Opportunities another great song.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
This is a crazy sample.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
I can sample the mess out of this Alex Fox
Sports Radio is the I Couple.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Rock anybody a sample? But that's another thing over Yeah right, Oh,
don't make me. I will find sentnamon somewhere and be like,
so did he little gig yup?
Speaker 1 (14:11):
What with?
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Say? Rob's hearing his tear off sweatpads?
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Hold on, let me describe Rob and I aching e
stiff back joints not cooperating. Some days your body's just
like nah and know those days. Luckily there's a leave
with just one pill. A leave provides up to twelve
hours of pain relief so you can keep moving used
as directed. All right, listen, we talked about Damian Liller
being released fifty something million. That's what the bucks are
(14:35):
gonna do. They brought in, They made all this move
so that they can be able to get Miles Turner
sign him, take him away from the pacers.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
I see, I'm gonna get straight to it for me.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
I think this Damian Liller is the winner in this
simply because he has the option now to choose where
he wants to go, and he is diminished. Now he's
gonna be you can't be this age just and coming
off an akil. He's like, did you're you're diminished. You're
not gonna be what you used to be no more.
Don't think Dame time tapping his watch. He won't be
that in the sense of an All NBA guy. But
(15:06):
I think that works out good for him and a
team that gets him because the expectations are lower and
he can be the best third guy on a team
to be rob So if he were to sign with
a team that needs if you were to go to
the Knicks, if he were to go to a team
that could you know that could use that type. If
you were to go to the Mavericks, somebody you can use. Man,
we need that type of guy. Come in, give us
sixteen seventeen a game, you know, not this year, but
(15:26):
the next year. Just be that guy. Make some clutch
plays here or there. Because what happened was you were
dependent on him. We got Giannis and you, and this
was the last era that long as we got two guys,
we're good. That era is gone. You gotta be deep.
You gotta have depth on your team, a bunch of
guys who can play a bunch of different roles. And
to me, if you get him and he can be
your Drew Holliday with the Celtics a couple of years back.
(15:48):
If he can be you know, come in, have big games,
play a certain role, you're porzingis even at times that's
a great get for somebody. He's not gonna cost you anything.
He can be League minimum or ten twelve million, not
fifty something because the the Bucks are gonna eat that.
This is like an ideal situation that he can find
himself a ring and finish this thing out in the
next couple of years his career and you know, hopefully
(16:09):
if you're him, walk away with a ring.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
This is a he only he only wins from the
money standpoint. But the way you look at him, Wait,
why he can't go win the ring?
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Someone?
Speaker 1 (16:16):
No, But the way you look at him because he
the excuse people always made was that he didn't have
any other body to play with, so that that was
why they gave him all this credit and how.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Good he was and all that. Look what he's doing.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
So then he right and then he goes to actually
a guy who won a championship in a situation where
this was supposed to work and it didn't. I think
he's diminished in people's eyes, and not just from the
injury it didn't work before the injury.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
No, it didn't work at all. We talked about it too.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
Yeah, he came out and said it wasn't He said,
neither of us like bought in, Like, uh, other person didn't.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
And I'm saying so when I think of Damian Lillard now,
I don't think of it the same. And the idea
that you know, somebody was you for one hundred and
twelve or thirteen million dollars and they'd rather pour ketchup
on it rather than waiting for your talent.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Dude, we're gonna wait for you.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
We we believe in you like that. That's humbling. You
can't I to be cut off for the injury, like seriously,
that means no, we're good. We're not waiting for you.
We don't care what you bring to the table. Do
you see what I'm saying?
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Do like that?
Speaker 1 (17:25):
That is the part that to me, if you're Damian Lillard,
you gotta be like what Like I got injured, They're
not gonna wait for me.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
I'm an older player.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Now they're cool, Okay, thanks, thanks blood, we appreciated and.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
We're moving on without you. Well, I mean that that
I would be bothered by that I think for him,
I think he's like, good riddens. This didn't work. You
know this for it should have. We all were like, oh, okay,
this is word. You got two guys, you got two
beasts finally coming together. Didn't work. I don't think him
and Gianna saw it eyed. I don't think they play
well together. I think neither one of neither one of
(18:02):
them knows how to play. But the one, but the
one guy.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Already won a championship.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
This was supposed to be Damian Lillard's chance to have
that player and then show.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
And he was just gifted another chance rob where he
gets to go cherry picking.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
But going to be his championship though, But.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
As long as he shows, but you know he'll be
you know who, he'll Gary Payton.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Nobody looks at that championship. That's not Gary Payton's championship.
He will be am I right.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
You would you that's he was on a team. Here's
that's not his champion here.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
I think you're like, this robs both of y'all. He
could potentially be Ray Allen with the Celtics, where it
was KG was the best player and some big shots.
And that's exactly why Dame Lillard. No, he'll be slightly
better than ray Allen in Miami. I think he'll still
have a little bit more will. But but that ray Allen,
(18:56):
like that three year period where he was with.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
The he saved Lebron Bacon.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
Right, and then he goes from the Celtics to the Heat.
I think he's going to be able to be that
Ray Allen for somebody where. Again, I'm not convinced. Tonight
I had twenty two. The next night I had twelve.
But I made big shots. You can trust depending on
me to be that. You take me up. I think, yeah,
I think he'll be that. I just that's just that's
(19:21):
a perfect think.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
He was given like he's what top seventy five, which
I questioned, Okay, I questioned, I mean.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Kyrie had to sit there like wait wait, wait wait,
I'm not why him over me?
Speaker 1 (19:31):
I questioned the ring, right, and not only have the
ring and a big shot at the moment all that
kind of stuff. So that was more about Kyrie and
his other stuff that people did not agree with.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
That not basketball. That's a handful of people a little bit.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
I don't know how many big games Dave Me and
Liler actually played it, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
He's just made big shots. I know what I'm just.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Saying, like, not enough big game for me to be
like that, like to put him over Kyrie.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Here's the issue with Kyrie.
Speaker 5 (19:56):
And I've said this a million times, there's a handful
of people who's gonna be hard to explain because they're
gonna fall in the barbershop. You know, our kids, rob
g They're gonna oh, and they're gonna be like Kyrie.
Irving looked like the greatest player I've ever seen, because
I saw the highlight safes and he looked amazing. But
then you're gonna be like, ah, but he was injured
a lot, and then half his years in Cleveland pre
Lebron wasn't really doing nothing.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
He was you know, they weren't winning. And then after Lebron.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
He did, and then the Celtics was weird and the
nets didn't work, and then but he had one. No,
That's why I said it's gonna be weird him, Kawhi
Leonard and maybe even Kawhi Leonard because you'll think he
did more, but he was always injured.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Kawhi is that guy here, Kawhi doesn't he doesn't fit
in there because.
Speaker 5 (20:40):
I'm saying, if I told you, if you saw this
is what I mean, you saw Kawhi that Toronto run,
you would think he was a top ten player of
all time, right, all.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Right, but he should be.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
But I'm saying, but he won two championships and one
two finals MVP, he's not gonna be like.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
But what I mean is, because of how I'm agreeing,
how good or great he was, you are, it's gonna
be like, dang if I saw the like twelve fifteen
year Kawhi Kawhi.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Where could he have been?
Speaker 5 (21:06):
And I think it's always gonna make you weird because
like if somebody might say, hey man, the top three
best player in my era was Kawhi, somebody was like, what,
that's crazy because he didn't get to fully show us
that even though we all know how great he was.
All right, we got Eddy House on the other side
talk some of the moves and transactions in the association
with him. But right now is Steve de Sega gonna
get your set on what's trending.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports radio
dot Com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Thank you, Steve.
Speaker 5 (21:38):
It is the Iakova Rod Parker kelvin Washington on a
trash talking Tuesday. If you want, you can start calling
it now eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That
ten twelve minutes or so eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox looking at this some of the action they
got seventy six or saying they expect Joel Embi to
return in time for training camp.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Obviously you know he had that left knee is shot
plus two nine. You'll get you New York. There you go.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
And I was gonna say one of the things I've
I've brought up several times is how I'm always weirded
out when you get these when you get these pairings
that don't make sense to me, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Have we got Eddie No, no, no, yeah, I definitely
want to get some ahead. Oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
I'm just gonna just gonna say, when we get these
weird pairings like, uh, you know, Kyrie and Ad two
guys that are always injured, and it's like they first
game Ad gets injured and then Kyrie gets injured. In
the season, I'm looking at Joel and b Oft injured
all the time, pairing with often injured Paul J. George
and they both get injured, both nicked up.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
I'm always weird.
Speaker 5 (22:35):
I don't understand why teams do that, Like injuries can
happen any given time. Don't care who you are, I
don't care the sport.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
We know that.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
But when I got a guy who's always injured, Paaramoine,
a guy who's always injured, it's the weird.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
I'll never understand why teams do that.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
I do want to get to this and may we
get a chance to talk about it real quick? Uh
the uh Malik Beasley story with.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
The investigation weird and weirder. I want to go here.
And I think that.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
The NBA, they're already in bed with the gambling companies, right,
all these leagues are. But if you're the NBA, what
you probably need to do to go to and I
know people don't want to hear it, but you probably
need to pull the prop bets off the table, not
the games, but the prop bets, because I think you're
(23:21):
gonna get in trouble with players, Like if you know
what your number is, there's no way you can't tell me.
You're playing the game.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Yo.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
You know your cousin Will been hitting you up for money.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
I can help you out, seriously.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
I don't have to give you any money, but I
could hook up my friend's family.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Like that is.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Do you see what I'm saying, nephew, cousin, You guys
get your money together?
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Hello?
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Like am I am? I crazy? Do you that's doable?
It's rebounds of doable. Three point attempts is doable. Not
makes three point attempts. Let me see the over and unders?
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Eight?
Speaker 3 (24:12):
All right? I know in my head I got six.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
I told them about the under, and if I hadn't
even got an open shot, I might take a step forward.
Speaker 5 (24:20):
Up, fake run in a little bit, make that pass
little hey. They always said you wanted an extra pass?
Am I wrong?
Speaker 3 (24:27):
No? So this is where it gets complicated.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
I'm serious about because if you're sports, we in this case,
the NBA, sports in general, we have opened up the floodgates.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Period we have.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
It was always happening, and it was always a wink, wink,
tongue in cheek. You know, you're watching NFL game, kick
a meeting with field goal. Somebody's happy that went in,
you know, those kind of comments because they.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Or the big one with the Chiefs when the kicker
ran out of the back of the end zone. You
remember for the safety, Rob g everybody I was that
was rigged America.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
I mean you're just like, hold on and it happens
and nobody and it didn't cover the built. Now you
have it where it's open and it's out there. We
have commercials and we're sponsored by this, brought to you
by that. It's everywhere. It's pervasive, and I think the
challenge to what you're saying, Rob, is that this becomes
the new and the way it's marketed now because of
the phone, you don't have to call a bookie, you
don't have to go to certain places in Vegas, Atlantic City.
(25:19):
It has become so cool And I had somebody on
the news show we talked about this. It's so easy
for kids now and it doesn't have to be big bucks.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Right.
Speaker 5 (25:28):
So if you just get a kid who got an
older cousin, Hey man, I'm gonna do a parlay, I'm
gonna do this, this, this, and you feel like it's
just sports stuff. It's just analytics, right, I don't have
to put crazy money. I can just put seven bucks that,
like you mentioned, Lebron's gonna have white We come Abron, Yo,
he's mad they lost. He's gonna have eight sys tonight.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Come on, Lebron. Of course he's gonna have eight a sis.
He's playing Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
He wants to go home and they're talking to It
was a whole studying article on how young men, specifically,
this is so normal for them that they're worried that
when they become men of house and that it would
be such a pervasive thing for them that it becomes
problematic because right now, it's almost like a video game, right,
And I was telling rob G.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Doesn't hurts.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
It hurts because you're just like, oh, it's just five
bucks here, seven bucks here, ten bucks here.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
But when you become that's what you do.
Speaker 5 (26:16):
And then you get these young guys who are doing
in college who are players, ROBG.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
You have friends who look I have friends that make
like a side hustle doing.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Probably like trying to make extra two or three hundred dollars.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Can't talk to right, yeah, which you could be in
your gas tank, you know what I like, you say
extra two hundred.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
They'll do you know, four or five, five, dollars bets
right and four or five way.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
But it's always the parlays. You got a parlay to
make any money.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
When I do the football parlays like on Football Sunday,
I don't do straight bets often. I usually do if
I put in fifty and I got three teams, I
make three fifty, so I make three hundred dollars. Who
can't use three hundred dollars. That's the way I look
at it, like to just bet one game for twenty
like that doesn't know what the pros do. That's differenceween
(27:02):
the pro and a Joe.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
Just feel like I'm a better little to win a
lot versus I'm gonna bet ten thousand to win ten thousand.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Right, or I bet ten thousand and win eleven thighs exact,
you know what I mean. Like they've been like they
look at it as oh, I made one thousand dollars
in two hours, like like even though they got the money.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
And Rob, I think to your you mentioned it earlier.
I think it's your bigger point now. I full disclosure. I
don't believe where native prop bets. I think that these
no No No gambling shops are too indep.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
It's too incestuous now with these leagues.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
But to your point, if there was ever a league
that was ripe to be taken advantage of when it
comes to this stuff, it's the NBA. It is because
you can easily manipulate over under three and a half, rebounds,
over under two and a half, assists big time, over
under two and a half three pointers. When you could
to try to shave yards in football or bases in baseball,
(27:53):
like just going to stop like he had double, He's
gonna stop at first base.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
People will be like, dude, you hit the ball off whall.
Why would you stop?
Speaker 4 (28:01):
Because if you tried to do that in these other sports,
it's not gonna say impossible, but it's really difficult to
not impact the bottom line of the score.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
And and and.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
Because shaving points is a totally different conversation, like but
you can absolutely, hey, I got three rebounds, my total
three and a half. I just won't crash the boards
the rest of the game, and it may or may
not actually impact the bottom line.
Speaker 5 (28:23):
And we won't think about it in real Exactly, if
Malik Beasley doesn't go grab a rebound, you're not thinking
about that at all. But if I if I know
my receiver in the NFL some strange reason he keeps
dropping passes today.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
But also what's going on here?
Speaker 1 (28:35):
If you go to an NBA game, the fans are
yelling out, they what the prop better?
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Is Lebron rebound?
Speaker 5 (28:43):
Like they know they are you kidding?
Speaker 4 (28:48):
And then Lebron's got the rebound, He's like, I got
you because he knows him me grabbing another rebound is
not going to change whether or not we win this game.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
The game. But again, basketball, you can probably believe that's
what I'm saying. Away with it. Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
And if Malik Beasley didn't have such bad and we're
finding out o nowt financial issues he was dodging his dentist
for a past due bill where he's taking advances against
future contracts, then he may have gotten away.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
With it like that. That's always as the telltale, you
know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (29:18):
I mean.
Speaker 5 (29:18):
And then Terry Rozier, by the way, I think the
league I was telling Rob g this, I think the
league was trying to get out of it.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
Like Terry Rozier was under investigation. We didn't hear anything
about it.
Speaker 5 (29:27):
They dismiss it the day the Beasley story comes out
to prove to me the NBA is saying, we don't
have an issue here, We don't have a problem here.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Look, what are you what Terry Roseier story is? John? Yeah,
he was just terrible, just terrible.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
He was just that bad that y'all thought he was
point shaving and doing something. All right, Hit us up

Speaker 4 (30:31):
You know, we got tweets on Friday when I feel
in for you, saying it was the blackest theology, and
at least six.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
The streets did say that. I was gonna tell you,
what are you talking about? I'm the ultimate black guy,
all right.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
Mike Stone himself said you you you know it's funny
you are. You are complex because as Mike Stone say,
you are the black jew Jewish person. You are definitely
that without a doubt. And then sometimes you are the
black and the black black black black person. I know
I'm black, see what it is. See they didn't want
to do it because a brother could never have the
opportunity in what see in America the society.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
And I'll be like, what in the world? Rob X?
I'm sorry? I told you nat X. Now, yeah, I
can't keep up with you sometimes, Rob, you never wait
for Black Friday. That's right.

Speaker 6 (32:06):
Rob, I am trashing Major League Baseball. Oh, the sport
I love for almost eighty years. They can't blame Angel
Hernandez anymore for these balls and strikes calls. I'm looking
forward to putting the new system in. It's an embarrassment
for some of these calls. There is just an embarrassment
(32:29):
to the game. It's an embarrassment to the sport that
I've loved for almost eighty years. And they got us
straighten it out.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Thank you guys, all right, appreciate it, Scott, thanks for
the call. How about Don from the up in Michigan
to Upper Peninsula.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Who
are you trashing? Don?
Speaker 6 (32:52):
Hey, Robin Calvin?
Speaker 8 (32:53):
I got to kind of trash both you guys yesterday.
Speaker 6 (32:57):
And Rob, I don't know you're doing the parlays.
Speaker 8 (32:59):
You're trying to pay for all them FCC fines for
all the raw dog and stuff yesterday, Like damn are
we doing the odd couple after dark?
Speaker 5 (33:08):
No?
Speaker 2 (33:08):
What man?
Speaker 5 (33:09):
He was talking about the when they were just saying
your raw dog an apt but.
Speaker 6 (33:13):
He's getting a hot and bothered.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
I thought it was about just hanging out and being
able to go ahead anyway.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
You got Don got wow?
Speaker 8 (33:25):
Oh it's a lady ladies man alright?
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Got no said shout out to the up I had.
It's so good today.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
How about Mace and San Diego? You're in the odd
couple of five Sports Radio?
Speaker 3 (33:39):
Who are you trashing? May Kria? Mace? You there?
Speaker 8 (33:46):
Julio sees a Truvis Junior for losing that stupid idiot
Jake Paul, What the hell's the matter with you?
Speaker 9 (33:51):
Can?
Speaker 8 (33:51):
Damble? You're a professional boxing with a record of fifty
four wins and seven glasses. Somehow you loft to a
YouTuber You're dad? Julio se Tubs Senior should disown you.
Here's a straight to your family legacy. I'm thinking tired
of the stupid Jake Paul fights and the tired fighters.
Anyone with a functional brain knows that all the phones
are getting paid to lose on purpose. This isn't absolute
grace and just for that you should be thrown in jail.
(34:13):
I fucking hate Jake Paul. I don't nobody paid a
dime to watch that six garbage fight. I refused to
buy the stupid energy drink, which a better chemicals to
kill brain cells, which makes you global enough to think
you're a legitimate boxer to us all and will favor
and stop doing these circus boxing matches and start competing
against hawk dog getting champions. Joey chestnutt to see you
who can eat the most sausages?
Speaker 6 (34:31):
Wow?
Speaker 9 (34:32):
No more pictures of pipe of the big booty.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
You know what, can we give it up to Maze
for having something that happened this past weekend?
Speaker 3 (34:41):
You know I give it up? Am I right?
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Give it up for Mace like I've even like a
forty year old thing or twenty five years ago.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
I thought we were going back Lincoln. Yes, that's good.
Look how dare you go to that show of FJ
and New Orleans FU Sports Radio. Who you're trashing m
jazz the receipts.
Speaker 7 (35:05):
I'm trushing the Milwaukee Bucks. Here's my tape. Dame Time
wanted to play in South Beach. There was a lack
of chemistry between the two players during the off season,
which could have carried over to the court. I five
Adrian Griffin after he went thirty and thirteen, then brought
in dock cried me a Rivers. In my opinion, Gianni's
overachieved in the finals because the Sun's coach, Mini Williams
(35:28):
either got an out coached or got over confident believing
DeAndre Aiden could defend Giannis straight up, and he was
dead wrong even after going up too old. The Bucks
are still trying to keep Giannis, but he's already broken
up with them. The Bucks just don't know it.
Speaker 6 (35:43):
Have a great.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
All right, appreciate all right? We got Toma squeeze one
more in do we Yes?
Speaker 9 (35:49):
We do?
Speaker 3 (35:49):
All right?
Speaker 1 (35:50):
Scott, I'm inn in North kirk Glaca, North Carolina. You're
on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. Who are you trashing, Scott?
Speaker 9 (35:58):
I'm trusting the NFL please, Hey, the NFL Players Association
on how they didn't take advantage of the owner's mistakes,
on their collusion to not give players guarantee contract. It's
a disgrace from what they're doing to the players. Rob,
you said all the time, the NFL PA does it
back their players. They should be more like Baseball. I'm
(36:19):
not sure why they're not, but it's just sad.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
I'm with you, no doubt, Scott. And you know what's
crazy is the blueprint is there from the Baseball Players Associated.
It's not like you have to figure it out.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
What did they do? Stop the game? Stop them?
Speaker 1 (36:35):
What do we say? Real simple? You want to you
want to get the owner's attention. Opening day of the
NFL season, we're not playing. Do you think you get
their attention.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
Because they're gonna get Hello, yeah, this is Coca Cola exact.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
Okay, what's going on?
Speaker 1 (36:51):
That money? Can you return on money? I mean it
takes two seconds as long as you continue to play massive?
Do they not understand your bo You're the pup, You're
the product. You are the product. This you're the product.
Due and I get it.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
And it's tightened and most of the players are making Yes,
they're making good money compared to the average you know, American.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
But if you're a group, you're gonna get even more.
You have healthcare.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
Baseball players, you play one day in the major leagues,
you're you're a part of the pension. You played thirty
five days in Major League baseball, you're part of the healthcare.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
Like one day, you're in the pension. You make the
big legs. No, but again, Rob, do you got one?
I want to trash Kelvin Washington. I see that you
paid full price Super Bowl T shirt. Why can't you
be like Rob Parker and get something from Marshalls and
slap a Super Bowl x al VID logo on the side.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Why are you overpaying for stuff? Did you buy that
dub when we were down in no business? Which one
is that? I could have got you four different color waves?
This was in La Rob. I'm trashing Rob g You
know why stop pocket watching? Leave me alone. I'm trushing
George Washington
