Fox Sports Radio. It is The Odd Couple.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Kelvin Washington, Martin Weiss and for Rob on a trash
talking Tuesday. I gotta give some credit real quick before
we get into this. We're getting ready to talk about
the MLB All Star Weekend. They got Jermaine dupri kind
of one of the mayors of Atlanta. And by the
way to Atlanta Brave Jerseys. That's one of the hardest
jersey that just looks always like actually wearing it with
street clothes. No complain that that always looks good. You
got him, you got Ludacris. They're doing Welcome to Atlanta.
(00:55):
Without even looking. I can already tell us what it is.
You got, the dancers, you got the crop be is doing.
They're doing it big. I gotta give it to them.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
Well, this is the thing that the NFL wanted during
the Super Bowl and Los Angeles kind of leaned into it.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
But this is a very Atlanta performance.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
Yes, as you said, you may do pre Ludacris, the
Clark Atlanta Marching Band, yep, and several other people, I'm sure.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
And for those who don't know, you know, HBCUs you
got it looks like it might be a maybe a
local high clerk.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Is that Clark?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
That's Clark there, So you got Clark, You've got some
other folks, you got to some maybe just higher dancers.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Like it's a full on thing out there.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
And it looks like a blast.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
And so credit them for kind of embracing this and
kind of embracing the Atlanta culture saying this is where
we are, this is you know, this is the flavor
of what you're gonna get.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
And I think it's like.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
That, And not to be labor the point, but I
think that when you see more and more and more
people complaining about the way games are presented, the way
games are shown, I think that Fox does a really
really good job like of and not to even just
be a company man, but Fox makes game feel important,
(02:07):
Like when you watch this big performance before this game,
it's like.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Oh, this is like the awesome I might have to
watch this. You know what I mean? When you see this,
I have to have.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
To check this out the rickwood Field performance before watching that.
I was there watching that performance live at the game,
the Lego season game.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
At Rookwood Field.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
And when you play a game like baseball, and I
know that generally in this timeslot, words like this are forbidden,
so you have to dump it.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
I apologize. I know where you're about to go.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
But when you play a game like baseball, the more
event type games you can have, the better because nobody's
tuning in for one sixty two, including rub Pulk.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
If it ain't the Yankees, he ain't tuning it. Oops.
Did I say that a loud And.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
So the more event you can feel this feels like
just watching this, well watching it with the sound off.
But I was in the same position for two of
these games, so I know it feels way bigger than.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
The NBA Finals. So you beat me to it.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
We had this conversation on our show, Robin and I
and I said, the NBA is not having a logo
on the floor, and I know it's been some years,
but not having them on the floor, not showing the
intro so much so that what do they do later
in the series, rob G they say, oh, bring the
intros back, bring them back. I'm sorry, my bad, Like,
how are you not making this feel like something?
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Make it?
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Bring out the intros, bring out the again the trophy
that this the bring I said, performances. I said, dude,
why are they not pregame performances? Why are they not
halftime performing? Maybe not every game, but maybe game one
game something like it. You just feel this should feel
like it matters. And I completely was blown away that
the NBA, of all the leagues would miss that because
(03:42):
historically that was what they're really good at. It was
kind of the hip or they know they have a
younger audience and they had all the hip performances and
tried to be more cool and relevant.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
So they're missing it and MLB's doing a great job.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
What's eats to this conversation we're about to get into
By the way, Adam kaplan coming up in about twenty
five minutes or so, about forty minutes or so, we're
gonna have trash talking Tuesday. You can trash anybody, any
won anything, including me. Including Martin cludon, Rob g Alex whomever,
and we won't say a thing. You'll get your thirty
seconds to let it rip. So trash Talking Tuesday coming up,
(04:16):
Adam Kaplan coming up as well. But right now I
want to talk about this and right after the show,
our podcast is gonna be going up.

version posted right after we get off the air. All right,
So Rob Manfree speaking of MLB, he is defending and
how he has had to been the rules a little
(04:46):
bit when it comes to selection to a replacement in
the MLB All Star Game. Rob GM come to you
tee us up on this one because I want to
hear where we both are see on the same page
when it comes to Rob manfre his decisions.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Now, Mark, you were here for this day.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
But a couple of weeks ago, we had a pretty
strong U two moment debating whether or not it was
fair that Clayton Kershaw got in as a Legends choice
for the All Star Game. Well about a couple days later,
Rob Manfred turned down one on its head, and no
one even cares about Clayton Curst anymore because Brewers rookie
pitcher Jacob Mizerowski, who has only pitched in five MLB
(05:26):
games so far in his young career, was added as
a replacement All Star pitcher for the National League, and
he got a lot of people up in arms, so
much so that several Philadelphia Phillies players went on record.
This was not anonymous sourcing. This was not let me
tell a reporter, who's gonna tell someone else. No, they
said themselves that they had a problem with it. Trey
Turner on Miz getting in, what a joke, that's effing terrible,
(05:50):
Nick Castianos, it's turning into the Savannah bananas, right. So
it's been a big thing across baseball. So last night a.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
Quick point of order, because is there any reason why
it's just Philly's talking out that the Philly gets snubbed
for this.
Speaker 6 (06:05):
Well, they had two guys who they believe guys, so
they were the ones who were most public about it.
So last night MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred was asked about
it because it is a controversial decision, and he said,
quote the excitement that was going to be generated the
fanagers and seeing this guy, you know, it's something that
we couldn't ignore. And he added later, do I want
(06:26):
to make it the norm where guys only pitching five
games in or not? I don't, but I believe it
was the right decision here given where we are.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
All right, this is an easy one for me.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Rob Manfred is in his sug Night death Row era.
This is where if you recall, Yo, you don't want
to you want this, You want that come to death Row,
come to MLB. And he is feeling himself right now.
And I'll tell you why he's coming off some successes, Martin.
He's coming off. Man, what were we kind of just
say in a moment ago baseball got a little boring?
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Right, y'all say it got a little boring? Okay, I
understand that.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Bam, get rid of this line shift no, no, no player,
you gonna have to defend. You know you're saying baseball
is getting a little boring. Okay, Bam, pitchclock speed this
thing on up. Brouh bitch, baseball's going a little bit
all right. Let me check you see if you've got
what you got, You got guitar, you got any resident
on your hand. He has been cleaning and changing the
game a bit, and I think it's starting to get
some of it is starting to have an impact. We're
(07:21):
starting to feel it. The games are faster, more compelling. Also,
one of the things if historically said, since I was
doing sports radio, even at the other places, that baseball
loves the ghost of the year's past, Martin, you wouldn't
know who was playing right now cause the first thing
tell me about the game to day ball.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
Before I get to.
Speaker 4 (07:37):
That, man, let me tell you about Ted Williams, Jo Demagio,
Babe Ruth. Let me tell you about all these old guys,
Willie Mays, Willie Mays, Willie As and Hank Aaron and
just going and on. They always were you like, dude,
But you got some great players right now currently doing
amazing things. And then you watch all Star games. It
was never like what we just watched. It was wheeling
(07:57):
out guys. And I'm not saying you don't respect then
the past. Absolutely you do that, but you don't solely
do that and baseball was solely living in the past.
So I think Rob Manford is feeling himself that some
of the decisions he has made have worked made the
game more popular. Some of he kind of just looked
into Yankees Dodger's First Time, ain'tyone you fell into that
(08:17):
ended up being compelling series. You got show, Hey, you
got Aaron Judge, you got all these big names, you
got all these all stars that just fell in his lap.
So I think he's continuing with the motim the momentum.
So I think this is a decision. I like what
he said there. He said, look, I'm gonna keep it real.
This is about the fact that this kid throws one
hundred and three hundred and four miles per hour. People
want to see it. I might not do it again.
(08:39):
I hope I don't have to. And mind you, he
made them an offer they shouldn't reviews. He asked a
couple of the pictures. Martine said, Hey, are you gonna
guarantee me any He said, well, no, I just pitched
on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
I don't think I'll ever then get out. You gonna
do it guarantee any?
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Well, no, I don't want to guarantee, because I just
don't then you ain't pitching, And so he is in
his death row, my boss, the Godfather Air right now,
doing what he believes is best for the game, trying
to raise the platform of the game, make the game
hit relevant. And I'm not mad at him because part
of that is you're gonna make mistakes. Part of that
is you're not gonna always get it right, but at
(09:14):
least you're trying, and baseball become stagnant for some time,
hadn't tried things, wasn't switching it up. So I'm not
mad at sug Manfred right now as he's trying to
do some things.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
The only beef I have with this for real, I
don't have problem with Suarez and Sanchez missing because to
go on it's like for the Phillies, whole team.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Damn near to go on record, I was like, wait,
let me go that the Ranger. Suarez.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
We actually got in a big argument two weeks ago
on these air because I was like, he leads the
major League in era. Doesn't qualify he didn't qualify because
I was like, no, I just saw it.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
He has a two ERA.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
He's like, he's one of the top five didn't qualify,
not enough, not enough innings pitched to qualify, and it
ended up being a big blowout between me and Muncie.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Uh it was it was long.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
I got to put that podcast Chris for Sanchez, he
pitched Star this weekend.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
He wasn't gonna be available.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
So if you're not gonna be available and you just
want to have like the All Star the All Star ceremonial,
all right, cool whatever, but you gotta be available to go.
My beef with this is like I have a problem
with Jacob Manzerowski over Won Soto, not over Rangers Suarez,
Like I'm I think you've won Soto should be an
All Star hit the first half that he's having, I
(10:26):
know it started out.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Slow, but also the and the final point in the
first point.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
To rob you when I was talking about this, we
have already made it is already established in baseball. These
are not the best sixty players. There's one representative from
every team. There's all this so like like Hobby Bayas
is a center fielder for the like crazy, like is
he that?
Speaker 7 (10:47):
No?
Speaker 5 (10:47):
He's had to be like so some things about this
are gonna be a little off year to year.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Some things about this would be a little weird year
to year.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
And if it ends up that Paul Skins has five
All Star Games when he really only had three good
years or something like that, three years of winning, I'm
not gonna cry about it. If it ends up to
Jacob Minzowski ends up being the Brewers All Star for
the next two years and the Brewers are a five
hundred team in the Nano Central, I'm not gonna cry
about that because to.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Me, you're not.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
The chances that the Colorado Rockies have one of the
best sixty players in baseball right now. Hard me to believe.
Heart of the sixty, can they get sixty wins? I's saying,
if you're doing our you know, to filling out the
All Star roster, hards me to believe absolutely. And I
want to go to Wa Soto.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
I agree.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
We sat here, I don't know a week week and
a half ago, me and Rob talking about that, and
I said, that's the trouble that comes with the money,
because immediately right off the bat you mentioned he started
off slowly. He wasn't where you think he'd be because immediately
we're going to be equated to money. And he had
an amazing. June was probably one of the best players,
(11:56):
and he won the Player of the Month for June,
and then you can still go, well, well he started
off slow, or well he's not doing he should be
number one, number two, number three, and the stats because
you just simply equated to the money. So Juan Soto
absolutely should have been an All Star, and I think
moving forward he's gonna have to keep that in mind,
that that's the responsibility. That's the challenges I should say
that comes when you sign, you know, three quarters of
(12:18):
a billion dollar deal, is that the expectations are crazy
and you kind of have those moments where maybe you
shouldn't have talked about missing your old boo. Talking about,
you know, missing playing with the Yankees and Judge and
Will is not the same.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
I'm not playing with them, but I'm not to cut
you off. Maybe I'm just too big of a football fan.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
I listen what to talk about in the media and
what you do on the diamond.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Those are two different things to me. You want to
be immunited to.
Speaker 5 (12:41):
Be the number one, the MVP gndidate that I can
rock with you Aaron Rodgers, But like Juan Soto, only
seven players in Major League Baseball history to the All
Star break, recorded at least twenty home runs, seven walks,
fifteen doubles, and ten stolen bases.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Seven players in a history of baseball.
Speaker 5 (12:57):
And he's telling me that the guy that's pitched five
and made five starts or made five appearances is what
we're doing.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
That's crazy.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
But so the first half of that, I'll reply with,
that's why I go back to the fan perception of
money and what you're doing, especially when you have a
slow start, right, because now you've been covering sports long
enough to know this is one of the worst things
about sports, but it's kind of a fact if you
do something wrong or just this is how you are.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
We kind of perceived that forever for you.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
For instance, Lebron didn't take some shots or missed a
shot kind of early on its clutch, then he would
want to be very clutch. But in our minds, Lebron
ain't clutch, right because those first few times he either
missed it or he passed it up, or he didn't
shoot it, and we wanted to do so permanently. In
our mind, Lebron ain't clutch, and it happens all the time.
So I think people want so to all this money
starts off slowly, teams not winning a bunch, and I
(13:51):
think people they're not doing what we do, coming in
for a living, checking the stats, checking this what we're
gonna talk about, having meetings, you know, preparing for a show.
Think they're like, I mean, I know he's been better,
but he ain't been that good. And I think that
just becomes the perception he ain't worth all that money.
You want to talk about perception, I'm sorry, I don't ere.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
You know, if I just saw this back to back
plays in this game, Caitlyn Clark got the ball stolen
from her and then turned over the next possession shot
a three over a double team, and it just popped.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
She is one for twenty nine.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
On three pointers on the road since she's been back,
but she's in three point contest.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
I mentioned that when I were Steve said that, I said, dude,
she's shooting twenty nine on this was surely he's less
now twenty nine percent of the season, twenty six percent
since she's been back from injury. And by the way,
I'm glad you mentioned that because it has nothing to
do with the emailbing Rod Mamford but I will say
Caitlyn Clark do got to get some of the smoke
because we will sing her praises, which justifiably so when
(14:47):
she's playing well and she's doing amazing things she does.
Because if anybody else was doing this, if Steph Curry
was one for twenty nine, we'd be going crazy.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
And to be honest, Steph Curry could go one for
twenty nine and if you wanted to be in the
three point Contest, nobody would blink at the All Star break,
you know what I'm saying, Like.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Depending on how it happened. This is kind of coming.
Speaker 5 (15:07):
Up on the All Star break for the WNBA, so
it's kind of going into.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
The stretch of it.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
But like if it was if Steph Curry started the
first month of the year one for twenty nine from
three by the All Star break, if he wanted to,
he's in the three point Contest.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
That's kind of my point with Juan Soto.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
It's like, at a certain point, these guys are the
establishment of what your league is. The WNBA is putting
Caitlin Clark in the three point Contest this year, not
because she is one of the best three point shooters
in the League this year.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
She is putting it in. It is that it is
a bet on.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
The future of what could happen, you know what I'm saying,
of what they believe will happen.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
I don't know why.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
I don't know what Juan Soto has either done or
rod Manford just felt like he needed another pitcher, and
that was kind of the direction I'm gonna go, and
I want to, you know again, put miz in and
so they can see some spectacular for a inning, see
somebody do something different. We'll have guys who can hit,
we'll have guys who can feel, but we won't have
necessarily guys who are throwing one hundred and three hundred
and four miles power.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
So maybe that's what he's mixing it up.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
And that goes back to my original point that he
is in his death row Sugar Knight.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
I'm doing stuff. Hey, Pete Rose, you just die all right?
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Y'all can vote him in now if you choose to,
whether you want to get him off the band list,
like I mean, is it is. I'm just making these
gangster decisions. Molding again. Some of it's work sped up,
the game change, the line shift, offenses going fell into
the Dodgers Yankees, the whole Pete Rose thing. So he
is making some of these decisions right now, and this
is being another one, and Wan Soda has to fill
some type of way though. I bet the second half
(16:33):
of the season he's got to go on a tear
because he's got to feel slighted from both the fan
perspective and then obviously Red Manfred, Rob Manford, or you
could also just say Kelvin, I'm all right, why them
checks cash either way, which, by the way, that was
another thing he didn't have to say, Rob and I
did agree when they asked him by all he feels,
you know how missing the game and he was like, man,
you know almost money I'm missing out of Yeah.
Speaker 5 (16:55):
I mean again, he didn't do himself any favors.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
Like you gotta know the climate.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
People are losing their jobs left and right right now,
people struggle busting everything's up. Sometimes it's just shows, kay,
They say, yeah, man, I really wanted to represent the
Mets in the city and put them on my back
end and be an All Star game. Bruh, seven hundred mil.
That one hundred and twenty if you were to be
on part of the winning team. You'll be all right, yep,
funny enough.
Speaker 5 (17:18):
I had a lot of conversations about one so though
over the last five days with people from the Dominican Republic. Yeah,
fifty fifty to fifty. Really a lot of them are
Yankees fans too. Oh yeah, yeah, but that just goes
to show you there's pictures and posters and murals of
Fred Andel Tattis everywhere, right, you know, it's interesting fifty
and again completely anec tootal, not reporting, no, but I
(17:38):
liked it though.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
All right, on the way a game, we got Adam
Kaplan coming up in just a little bit. Plus there
is somebody who is playing right now, playing some good
football in San Francisco, but he needs to worry about
that instead of some other things. That's what Martin says.
We'll tell you more in just a moment. It is
the akable. Martin's it for Rob. Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (17:58):

Speaker 3 (18:40):
Fox Sports Radio. It is the Odd Couple. I'm Kelvin Washington.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
He's Martin Wis's and for Rob on a trash talking Tuesday,
about twenty minutes away from that, about five minutes away
from Adam Kaplan. And if you have aking and e's
a stiff back, joints not cooperating, some days your body's
just like nip. And on those days, Martin, thank god,
there's a lead with just one pill leave provides up
to twelve hours of pain relief so you can keep
it moving.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Use as directed.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
And I ain't gonna lie, brother, Some days I wake
up just like that and need to get to a
bottle of the league myself. All right, Rodin, real quick
before we get to Steve here, one's trending. You have
thoughts on Jennings, war receiver for the forty nine Ers.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
Yeah, I just Juwan Jennings is in the middle of
the latest edition of the San Francisco forty nine Ers
contract hold Out Shaga.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
They do one every year around this time.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
It's one of the NFL's favorite movies, but this one,
And generally I'm with the guys on this, But if
I'm Juwan Jennings, I think it's a little short sighted
to demand to be traded unless you, first of all,
less you know you're getting that new bag from a new.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Team, because.
Speaker 5 (19:44):
If you ball out right now, if you have fourteen
good games and nothing no major massive injury, which again risk.
Look at some of this money that these free agent
wide receivers are getting, like when the guy's time to
re up, because guys like Justin Jefferson and so on,
they're never hitting the open market, Nope. Terry McLaurin is
(20:07):
fighting for his life for a new contract right now,
like and it looks it looks, it looks genuinely sad
in his face that he's not getting it.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Donald A. Wi that was a sad presser for sure.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
And I just think that if Juwan Jennings goes and
has a you know, twelve hundred yard, you know, thirteen
touchdown year, which I think is possible for him, especially
in the San Francisco offense that's getting the Christian McCaffrey back,
but not the Brandon Ayuk. And like you know what
I'm saying, Like you're gonna be receiver number one, You're
(20:38):
gonna should be able to maneuver pretty well throughout this
thing in an NFC West that's up and down. I
think that he stands to make a ton more money
if he plays twelve thirteen more games, whether it be
San Francisco elsewhere.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
I'm with you in theory. I think the only problem
is specifically the sport that he's in. And I think
we've seen where guys get banged up. They use that
against you. Man, You nicked up a little bit, and
they offer you some money, and it is good money,
but it ain't great money. And you can or you
can be spectacular what you say you want twelve hundred cool,
you want ten touchdowns?
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Cool?
Speaker 4 (21:09):
You can get t Higgins where they keep just getting
all right, we're gonna franchise you, We gonna franchise you.
And you're sitting up here, putting your health at risk,
balling out and just getting money, which is good money,
but it's not the long term money you're looking for,
so I hear you.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
But even still right now, t Higgins is the ninth
ninth paid highest receiver in the NFL after that new contract.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
So that was my point when you got to strike
when the irons hot, and I think for him coming
off all almost a thousand yards and then produced very well,
and as you mentioned, looking like you're gonna be the guy.
I think going into the season knowing I'm going to
be the guy, and with the risk that come with that,
I think he's like, hit me up now, hit me
some money now.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
But that's the challenge, honestly, Martin.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
We got some deals today and we'll talk with Adam
Kaplan here shortly about one hundred and twenty six mil.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Only eighty five guarantee. Third of that sure, only forty
five guaranty.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
It's just a unique sport in the NFL, the way
that it is, in the way your career can change
so fast. So we'll talk a little bit more about
that with Adam Kaplan in just a minute. Right now,
Steve Seger, what's trening, Hey, Steve.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
It is the odd couple kelvin Washington, Martin Wise and
for Rob of the trash Talking Tuesday and Real Quick
achey knee, stiff, back joints not cooperating. Some days your
bodies just like nope, and all those days, folks, Luckily
there's a lead. With just one pill. A lead provides
up to twelve hours of pain relief, so you can

Adam Kaplan, Fox Sports Radio, NFL Insider Caplin, NFL on X, Adam,
(22:43):
what's up man?
Speaker 3 (22:44):
How you doing? Guys could have talked to you.
Speaker 9 (22:46):
I just want to let everyone know Dan Byer and
I will be hosting together on FSR on Sunday at
twelve eastern, so looking forward to that.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
We ask Gus, you just told everybody good stuff there?
Speaker 9 (22:55):
Why not?
Speaker 3 (22:55):
All right?
Speaker 4 (22:56):
So, Adam, I want to jump into sure somewhere I
didn't expect to jump into. They didn't wake up thinking
I'll be talking about the Jets all of a sudden,
acting like they're the Oklahoma City Thunder just cashing everybody out.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
Let's start there for me with the Jets.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
A couple of moves that they made, and more so
the timing some Starbarck Garrett Wilson, of course, star receiver
there he gets a four year, one hundred and thirty
million dollars deal, ninety guarantee.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
You know, it's important to start there, you know, we
at least hit that.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
And then you go to Sauce Garden, who's been spectacular
a couple of years into the league, one twenty four year,
one twenty point four, but again eighty five point six
of that guaranteed.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
They have done.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
Something they normally doesn't do, which is kind of jump
ahead of these guys, taking care guys a little earlier
than they normally would. Obviously, two are their studs on
both sides of the ball there. But what do you
make of the Jets trying to say, hey, we got
justin fields, we got some guys who are really already
here talented.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Let's lock this thing down. What are you making these
moves from the Jets?
Speaker 9 (23:52):
All right, So a couple things here. First of all.
An important note on what you're bringing up is that
now is this this coaching staff, but Muji, the GM
Darren Mujie who came from Denver. He didn't draft either
of those players, right, good point, but they identified him
as building box players on offensive defense. And as I
understood it, Garrett Wilson, part of why he wanted to
(24:16):
do this is he he gets he's reunited now with
Justin Fields, the former teammate at Ohio State. This is
big for him. Now, if they would have signed another quarterback,
you know, could have he waited that that would be speculation.
I don't know that, but I know I've known for
a while that he was really open to getting this
done because he believes that he could grow with a
(24:37):
guy like Fields, who he knows and by the way,
is still pretty young at quarterbacks. So that was big
and soft. Gardner is one of the top corners in
the league. He becomes the highest paid corner now just
a little bit in NFL history. It's the way these
things going. And Wilson's thirty two and a half million.
By the way, it's a really good deal and it's
a short term deal, which is smart by him and
his agent, so he'll be able to you know, in
(24:59):
a couple of years. In three years, if he's doing
really well, you could sign another extension. So it's a
good thing. Man, with all the turnover the Jets had,
firing Joe Douglas, a GM, firing the head coach Robert
Stall in season, I mean, this is a good way
to get things going now.
Speaker 5 (25:16):
It seems like the forty nine ers last few years
almost always started getting it going with the offseason with
some contract issues.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Now, Juwan Jennings the most recent edition of this.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
But I kind of I'm on the forty nine er
side of this one a bit, Like I feel like
Jawan Jennings has had like one really good year and
if you put another really good year together here when
you look at some of the numbers, like Chris Godwin
signing for three years sixty six forty four guaranteed, Stefan
Diggs three years sixty nine million, like, I think Juwan
(25:47):
Jennings with another good year could be up there with
thirty million dollar receiver for a team in the MANB
San Francisco.
Speaker 9 (25:54):
Yeah, he's a really good player who's been a great
story of development. Seventh round pick of twenty twenty year
did run all that well, tall guy. The tape was good,
but because he was seen as a possession receiver kind
of slow, didn't know how he progressed and every time
he stepped in for the Brandon Ayuku Tour, his ACL
if you remember Ricky Piersoll, unfortunately their first round pick
(26:15):
had the unfortunate issue off the field, which is not
his fault, and so he wasn't ready for the season.
So he got thrown in there, did a great job,
and look they redid his deal a couple of years ago.
He wants more money now. Drew Rosenounce is his agent.
Drew Rosows just got Jona Smith a new deal or
more money within their trade with the Steelers. So yeah,
this this is you know, Drew's doing his job. This
(26:38):
one's a little hard to figure out how they they're
going to handle this because Ayuk is making a ton
of money this season, about around twenty seven million right now.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
He's coming off.
Speaker 9 (26:48):
ACL reconstruction Piersoll, and this will be his first full season.
They don't run a lot of three receiver sets, so
it's really about, Okay, who are they gonna be the starters?
Depends on Ayuk when he going to be ready. Piersoll's
definitely starting and they really see Jennings guys, to be
honest with this is a really good quality backup. Well
you're not paying that guy fifteen to twenty million, that's
(27:09):
the way it is. So they're in a kind of
a tough way and they can't afford to trade it
because that on depth. So this is not an easy
situation for the Niners to handle because they never drafted
him to be a starter. It's just that it's kind
of worked out. He's had to play a lot. So
this one's worth watching. I know he's He's made it
pretty clear if something doesn't get done, he'll probably ask
(27:30):
to be traded.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
What do you, Adam, what do you think that's a tough.
Speaker 9 (27:33):
Deal man, To be honest with you, it's it's really
they're in a tough spot, the Niners with it.
Speaker 5 (27:36):
If heel as a free agent right now, what do
you think the market would would be dictating towards him?
Speaker 9 (27:41):
I would say fifteen and eighteen million around there. He's
not a thirty million player, not even close. I mean
he's a good player though, he really is. He The
knock on him is he's not a burner, right, he's
got goods length and he's been a really hard worker.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
He's been very productive.
Speaker 9 (27:57):
It's look the guy wh's the seventh round pick, he's
clearly out upper formed it. But no, he's not that.
He's you know, he's not real explosive. Good player though. Now,
and the other thing is on your question. It also
depends who else is available for agency. But no, he's
not a thirty million player. But now, let's put it
this way, on your question and your point, Let's say
Aiku's not ready for the season. Right, Let's say he
(28:19):
doesn't play a lot this season and Jennings starts thirteen
games and he has over a thousand yards. Now that's
a different story, right, But he's not gonna get there.
They're not planning on that happening. And Ricky Piersoll was
a first round a surprise first round pick last year
after the extended ay X contract. That and remember they
Deebo last year. That was a surprise with all that.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
Hey, he is Adam kaplan on the ID couple myself,
Kevin Washington, Martin Weiss, and for Rob Adam, let me
go to this one, and I feel like we did
it could have did last week week before TJ. Watt
What the heck is going on in Pittsburgh. They were
held bent on getting Aaron Rodgers. They had note of
the time to figure this thing out with t J. Wattell,
I will get to it. Make sure we get Aaron
Rodgers in the building. Where are we with That was
(28:59):
the latest reading that maybe the latest is that he
wants more years on the deal.
Speaker 9 (29:04):
Yeah, yeah, oh yeah, because he turns thirty one. And look,
he became the highest paid edtrusher at NFL history three
years ago and by the way, he had a hold
in where he was doing very limited work. I expect
that the case if he shows up. I expect that
to be the case until he gets his contract. Now
they've shown a willingness to get this done. The problem
(29:25):
is that he turns thirty one this season, right, he
turns thirty one this fall. You have to be careful,
guys on how much longer you guarantee money past the season.
That's the challenging thing for the Steelers here. And you're right,
they've done a lot. The DK Metcalf deal thirty three
million a season. You mentioned Aaron Rodgers, the acquisition and
(29:46):
then paying Jhono Smith more money, getting Jalen Ramsey in there.
So they've they've done a lot. They want to make
a run over. The Ramsey thing is much more about
the future, not so much of this season. But the
bottom line is they got to have TJ.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Watt.
Speaker 9 (29:59):
It's as much which I know for fact, they really
like Nick Herbig, who was a draft pick a couple
of years ago. It's been a good story as a
fourth round pick. It's really all about TJ.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
Watt.
Speaker 9 (30:08):
It's going to be a Hall of Famer, and they
they know they have to work this out. It's it's
not easy. This will be last year. This gonna be
the last deal that he gets done. To figure out
what that looks like in terms of guarantee of money.
When can they get out of it in case, Look, folks,
at thirty three years old, which he turns in two years,
you're typically done playing at edge rush. You gotta be
careful how you structure.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
Yeah, and that's what they're thinking about right now. And
it's gonna be interesting if he mess around and gets,
you know, on another team. What if he went to
the lines, that'd be amazing. But see he's on understand
though he's under contract. They know that if they if
they would actually trade them and it would be well
more than the first round pick. Where are they going here?
I mean, you try, you want to make a run.
Speaker 9 (30:47):
They have not won a playoff game, guys, in nine years,
twenty sixteen.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
Which is crazy to think about it because all he
focuses on phone the fact that they either eat by
five hundred or just making into the postseason back of
the postseason win. All Right, Adam, appreciate you as always,
have a great show this weekend.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
Man, We appreciate it. Sounds good things, all right.

out there a little bit. We seen a couple of
his posts.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
Dah. He was definitely out there. Yeah, he was there
for real.
Speaker 10 (33:28):
But the Asian Wilson and the Caitlin Clarks thing, man,
that's ridiculous, man, let them. Let them ladies play the basketball,
and they can. They and everybody talks about it.
Speaker 7 (33:38):
They're gonna be They're gonna be good.
Speaker 10 (33:40):
They're gonna be great, both east side. You know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
No, appreciate it. Yeah, appreciate you, Donny, thank you for
the call.
Speaker 10 (33:46):
Yeah, I feel like you.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
No doubt Johnny. Appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Man.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
I think he was more or less taking a shot
at RG three to two. Yeah, RG three getting shot
at Man.
Speaker 5 (33:54):
I saw that I was taken off on the way
and I was like, WHOA, didn't happen to that guy?
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Yeah, I mean I have my little thought on it too,
Just that in Denver trash talking Tuesday? Who you trash it?
What's sake?
Speaker 10 (34:11):
Hey, thanks for letting the call come through. Hey, then
and Rob and enjoy your vacation. Man, forget that last guy.
I'm gonna trash talk to him a little bit. But Hey,
what I'm gonna say is about TJ. Wat He's thirty
one years old. Can't get through a season. He can't
get through the season. While we're gonna get this man
(34:33):
the money. You know, hey, Joe, you ain't You ain't
getting the money because you ain't got any brother.
Speaker 5 (34:41):
And that's and to this point, I said, all those
playoff losses that Mike Tomlin has they all saw are
on TJ watch resumes. So there you go with that.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
There's a part of that that it's like, is it
worth it is? What they say is the lemonworth of squeeze.
If I got to pay you all this money, you're
already thirty one and we've had you, and we ain't
want a postseason game.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
And I don't know how long eight nine years, all.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
Right, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, We'll take
a couple more on this trash talking twos. Let's go
to our man, Kevin in Culver City. Kevin, you're on
with the on couple of Fox Sports Radio. Who you trashing? Kevin?
Speaker 3 (35:17):
God is good all the time.
Speaker 7 (35:20):
Absolutely, I'm gonna trash my boy, Brian Wynn Horse, let
me tell you something, man, get out of our locker room.
There's no tension with Luca and Lebron. Stop making something
down and nothing. The Lakers took Luka to dinner at Craig.
That's where you go to in their latest Craig, you
just traded the best, argably one of the best defensive
players in our history, in our factise history, Anthony Davis
(35:40):
with Luca Gawkers, you're gonna takehim the crag and show
him what you got coming up with all the freezers
you're gonna try to get and try to maximize his
value here with all the trades you're gonna make. You're
gonna gonna present to him what you want him to
have byce here with this franchise. So what's wrong with that?
Making this he's trying to make this Shacking Kobe two
thousand and four. There's nothing to see here. The Lakers
told Lebron about the cell, and then it was reported
(36:03):
that they didn't know. They say they did, Like, if
you're gonna brune a story, make sure you have all
your facts straight, please, And look, the Lakers did everything
that piece of Lebron. They drafted a Bronni, they won
a championship with him, They bought Anthony Davis here. There's
there's no tension here. They were just making sure Luca
felt welcome. Stop trying to divide the locker room because
it's not working, Windy, We know how you're trying to work.
(36:24):
Stop trying to put a fish in our in our
franchise and look, just fall back. Everything's all good. They
did this for Kobe and Magic. It's the same thing.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
They're doing with.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
That's how you feel, Kevin. Take that for data.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
That's how you said, Kevin, all right, No, yeah, I
mean I do think there's a little something going on.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
There's some tension for sure, whether well it's just it's
all right.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
There may not be tension outright. They may sit and
take hands as they say what up to each other.
But you're not telling me that Lebron, who's been the
best player and the unquestioned out for on his team
since he had a team, is not feeling some level
of adjust percent. So I shot of territory for him. Mark,
He's never not been the guy since he was twelve,
(37:08):
You know what I mean. Last one, we're gonna go
out to Roger and Missouri. Roger, you are on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio trash talking Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
Who are you trashing Roger?
Speaker 11 (37:18):
Kevin Keatsman. Do you want to call the Patrick Mahomes fat?
Speaker 7 (37:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (37:23):
I grew up with the boy, not not Patrick Mahomes,
but Kevin. He's a punk and he comes from a
family of punks.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
Is there anything you can say?
Speaker 5 (37:33):
I know why he's a punker, just who just want
to get it out there.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
All right, gotcha? Hey?
Speaker 5 (37:41):
He said, let me get on here and tell y'all
who he really is. I mean, I will, Hey, I
will say this Martin. You've been in his game, Rob
g Alex.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Sure.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
There are some people who how can I say this?
There are some people who fill some police officers, you know,
get I don't even go there. Let's just say there
are some people who get on the my and this
is my chance to get back at people.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
There are some people like that.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
I don't know this person personally, obviously, he told how
he feels in his opinion growing up. But there are
some people who feel like, you know, this is my
chance to now get back at these guys and guys
who were athletes and I wasn't or this, that and
the other. They take full advantage of having an opportunity
to have a microphone.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
So I don't know if it's true or not. It
is they oh couple. Fox Sports Radio
