Speaker 3 (00:31):
No idea what Staateie's in right now?
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Now?
Speaker 3 (00:34):
I also have it checked. The Graham I was about
to say, check the guns means, you know, he has
to tag where he is. What is it called air tag?
Is that what it's called?
Speaker 4 (00:42):
And that?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
What is AirTag? I am here right now. I'm sure
he'll let us know. Carrie's there. We're gonna have a
good time man on this TV theme song Thursday. That's right.
Oh by the way, Alex, we got to get a
Cosby one in for Malcolm Jamal Warner who passed away
earlier this week. Of course, the extable on that show,
so one time for him. We'll have to do that
(01:03):
at some point. We got Jared Bell coming up here
in a little bit. Jared Bell USA today NFL columnists
will join us from Steelers camps, so we'll have some
conversations about some of the moves the Steelers have made
and some others happenings around the NFL. Also, some talk
about someone who passed away again they say it comes
in threes and big time sports figure Hawk Cogan pass.
(01:23):
We're gonna have a good conversation. I think you'll enjoyed
Carrie a little bit later about that. And then of
course in the last hour, which you really came for
Monti's favorite thing, Tyser's Tower of Trivia, where I accidentally
an apologetically smoke carry every time he happens to be
on see here put back in my bet. I didn't see.
I didn't see it in my bet. And so that'd
(01:46):
be a good time, man. And always always don't forget.
You can hit us up on socials, kateb live for myself,
Carrie twenty five roads, odd couple FSR. And notice how
I said Carrie twenty five rows and didn't roast you
like I said I would live. We got three hours,
We got three hours. Hey man, I don't know what
this roason means. I don't know where it's coming from,
(02:07):
but it's it's only coming from hate. That's I know.
I know it's only coming from hate. One of us
is in shape, the other one's not a great show.
Let's welcome in the Ey Couple team couldn't do it
without them. We got Rob G, the producer extraordinary and
you can tell again it was part two of his
meetings because he got on a nice work corporate shirt.
(02:27):
Rob G in the building. Then you have Alex of
course on the boards, the engineer extraordinaire. You have Manti Butha.
It's gonna get yourself on what's trending and your updates.
And we have Elijah. Look get that, I got it in.
We have Elijah on social Elijah, I said, who Elijah, who?
Never mind who? He's gonna get you all of the
(02:49):
social media stuff we need throughout the show. And Alex.
By the way, even though Rob isn't here, always remember.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
The Odd Couple was filmed in front of a live audiences.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Matter of fact, Rob G, I tried to Ephraim was
here yesterday. And you know why I do that, little
sweete d d part right, I should have just had Cary.
Do you know he's a singer.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
Don't put me on the spot like that. Just the
end of the beat and Carrie d you'll hear the beat. Yeah,
here cuts.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
The odd couple was filmed in front of the line
Carrie hit.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
It, sweetie. No, I saw that coming. I knew he
would be a unecessary run at the end off We
didn't need it. He can help us. There you go.
You owe Cooper Flag, Caitlin Clark lovin mother, the love
of you. All right, let's get to this thing, man.
We got to pack show a lot to get to
some great topics as well. Looking forward to that as well.
(03:50):
Say I'm sorry Robbie one more time, would you say?
That's right? Look about the antony eclips, just like the
Clips album, which I love, by the way, shouts to
the clips. All right, So Caleb Williams of looking at
I don't know what's interesting? Do I say? Bounce back?
Some people say it was a solid rookie campaign. It
wasn't that bad. There was a lot to be desired still,
(04:12):
but some people say, now you're the number one, pick
your highs. When Troey winner, you wanted to be better.
So he's looking to improve and now that he's got
a new head coach to Ben Johnson, Ben Johnson, sorry
he's no longer with the Lions. I'll say the emotions Manza,
you felt me. Yeah, he's leaving the Lions and he's
(04:32):
over there and scrat I'm gonna need him to leave
to a leave the division. Oh, I know, can you
go on somewhere? You know, all the family trades, the secrets.
I don't like that, Carrie, but now he has been Johnson.
It definitely an offensive genius for sure, and you saw
what he did with Jeric Off those years, putting them
crazy numbers. The offense was explosive and so therefore you
hope if you're the Bears or Bears fan, it carries
(04:53):
over to the Bears. But specifically they had an idea
of kind of where they wanted to be. And here's
what Caleb had to say, kind of his projections and
hope for this upcome season.
Speaker 7 (05:00):
Obviously, I have self goals and that's you know, being
the first four thousand yard passer in Better's history. That's
a you know, a goal of mine. Seventy percent completion
that helps the team, Uh, keeps on the field, puts
us in better positions. And then other than that, just
trying to go down and you know, score the most
post points that we can with these tracks that we have,
So you know, that's that's kind of my self goal
and obviously other you know, other than that, you got
to go win. That's success for me, that's success for
(05:23):
the team. You know, that's all. That's all we wish
for and all I wish for.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
So I don't actually don't have a craze. I'm not
going to give you this wild, screaming hot take it
that you ever say that. I know, No, he's got goals,
You have goals, whatever that is right now. Professionally maybe
you know, I know you do stuff in the entertainment
for movies, and like we all have goals, and you should.
You should reaware in my life, you should assess where
you are. I don't have a problem. The only thing
(05:47):
I might suggest was you could kind of have done
is keep it in house. And the only couple of
reasons why I say that. Number one, I just mentioned
you got a new head coach, a new system, a
new approach, and I don't believe you all know what
you are yet. I don't think you know if we're
gonna be a run heavy team, if we're gonna be
Caleb We're lying, Hey, Caleb man, we need you throw
forty five hundred and fifty fifty one hundred yards. You know,
(06:09):
you don't know exactly what you are and you don't
know what's gonna be winning football for your team, right
kind of U because now I don't want it to
be if I'm a part of the Bears organization where
every single week everyone's overly analyzing, well, he only threw
for one hundred and eighty which if you do the
math time seventeen weeks and you know now it's only
at thirty six hundred yards. Ha, He's not gonna get
those goals. A seventy percent completion rate rate is crazy, right,
(06:31):
That's that's huge. That's some Drew Bledsoe types, Drew Brees
type stuff. Not everybody does that. You can be very
successful with sixty three, sixty five, sixty six if you
again are making the big plays when you need it.
Patrick Mahomes, for example, wasn't amazing last year with his stats,
but he may key plays when he needed to. To a
tune of fifteen in two into the tune of the
Super Bowl appearance, again, do you know who won the
(06:54):
Super Bowl? That's right, a guy who threw for like
thirty one hundred yards is something a guy who was
throwing down three hundred four hundred yard games all the time,
but a guy who uses legs effectively, a guy who
managed the field possession and who ran the ball with
the best running back in the Saquon Barkley last year,
and to the tune of the Super Bowl appearance, and
I'll blowout victory. So to me, there are multiple ways
(07:17):
to skin this cat. And I don't want you to
apply pressure where it's not needed. Let's find out who
we are, what we do well, what you do well,
and the focus should be getting the ball up quicker,
can we get to two point two seconds? He was
holding too much, he was playing some of that. I'm
just the best player on the field in high school.
I'm just the best player in the field in college.
To the tune of a Heisman, and I can get
(07:38):
away with that. This is the prose. And as you know,
being a defensive player yourself, they fast, yes, they fast,
not they are they fain And the defensive linemen are fast.
The offensive the linebackers are fast. Safeties are coming at you.
So you have to kind of be on play on
time and in the system. What we got going now
when you need to improvise, great, that's what makes you special.
To the tune of a number one pick. And everyone
(07:59):
said the best quarterback prospects since Andrew Luck. So that's
my only thing. I don't honestly care that he has
projections for himself. I think everybody comes in and they're like,
I want to be a Pro Bowl quarterback or I
want to be you know, and you can tell me
I'm a dB. I want to have four interceptions, you know,
deflect ten patches, whatever it may be, have forty tackles.
I don't know, but I just waste right down. I've
(08:22):
had one hundred the first yeah, right, you know what
I mean. I don't want to do this right yeah.
And so my last point is just let's find out
who we are. Let's see what works best for us.
We don't have to do the projections. Allowed everybody hearing
it so that now it's at it fuel and it's
just you know, it's it's it's Chicago radio every week
when you don't have the numbers that will match what
we said, because you might only throw sixty percent, but dang,
(08:44):
we won by two touchdowns. Right.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Well, I think what he said was very generic right,
where people may take it as a hot take and
take it as you know, real fodder, conversation fodder. But
for me, all this screams to me is this is
the team's mindset.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Right.
Speaker 6 (08:58):
All he sounds like to me is Ben Johnson. So
it seems like they had a conversation. This is what
is where you should be, this is where I see
you going, and he's just echoing it. I don't think
he's doing too much here, obviously. I think his goals
are even bigger than that. Right, he didn't say I
want to be the best quarterback in the division. I
want to be appropriate. Like, he didn't say those type
of things. He said team goals, because in theory and
(09:21):
team goals, if you pass as a team for seventy percent,
doing pretty well, if you pass the four thousand yards,
that's an excellent season. Like, I don't think he's basically
stepping out in the limb and saying I'm this guy.
This just sounds like conversation he had with Ben Johnson,
and this is what our team needs for you to
be successful and for our team to be successful. So
I don't really take too much stock in this. I
(09:43):
know people will and I think the beautiful part about
him and Caleb Williams is he can do it. So
and we talk about him having a bad season or
a bounce back season, I thought he was pretty good.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
That's why. Yeah, yeah, I'm depending on how you want
the glass half it. Yeah cool. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
Under the circumstances with that team and the way that
they were organized, organized and their head coach and their offense,
he outperformed what he should do. So in my opinion,
having been Johnson in the house with him, I'm really
excited to see what happened with this name.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
The head coach cost him maybe three games easy alone.
That's why I'm saying, like when we could like visibly
identify you should have won that game. Uh, then there's
other ones maybe you know, play here, maybe back hall here,
but definitely there were three that were like, bru, what
were we doing here? Right?
Speaker 7 (10:29):
Right?
Speaker 3 (10:29):
That's a win. They could have maybe should have beat
the Lions one of those games as well, you know,
and they had a couple and then a couple of
bad breaks and missed field go here, and some things happened,
Uh defensive back running out in the f's party over here.
The players haven't played in motion and he you know,
he gives up that deep hell. Mary, So I had
a DA had a handful of games where they were
(10:50):
in games better than the record will reflect. And I
do think he's probably again excited to have a Ben
Johnson in there who can see, you know, what he
can do best and draw out of him. Yeah, but
I think people, I think he did well under the circumstances.
And again, considering you're trying to change those habits of YO,
you don't have to be superman, and in some cases
(11:11):
you probably can't be superman because the way the league
is stifferent. In college, seventy five eighty five percent of
those people you played against ain't going pro, you know.
Speaker 6 (11:20):
What I mean?
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Yes, they're good, Yeah, but this is it. The buck
stops here, This is the last bus stop. These are
the big boys. These are the big boys. Where that
defensive lineman you like, he runs just as fast as
as you.
Speaker 6 (11:30):
Oh yeah, I mean, if you think that you're the
best athlete on the field in that league, if your
name is not Lamar Jackson, you're You're right, you're playing yourself. Yeah,
And I think he's got that introduction already. He got
to see on the team, where again he had to
learn on the fly, had to make decisions on the fly.
And you can tell like he wasn't confident in their
scheme because what you just said, right, he's trying to
be superman and make plays happen, not being on time.
(11:53):
But with Ben Johnson, he will be on time. That's all.
That's what Ben Johnson about. You can see it with
this last quarterback in Jared Off and what he did
for him. And this is the way and the way.
That's why I get so much. I mean, all right,
I'm a lad, don't get emotion, that's okay. The way
he had the offense running, man, it was so good.
You sound like pop pop, hold me down.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Ah man. The Lions were so good when it was
just fun to one. This is what I knew. You
want to know well multiple times, but you don't want
to know what I knew. Rob Parker was a hater.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Rob.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Do you remember when I asked him he was I
don't hate the Lions. I just and I said simple
questions like he always tried to put people no no answer,
yes or no. I said, So you can say the
Lions aren't gonna win a Super Bowl and this was
like two thirds of the way through the season where
I believe this question I'm gonna ask you was very
factual and no one would say no. I said, so,
you're trying to tell me, if nothing else, the Lions
(12:42):
aren't fun to watch. He didn't. He said they're not
fun to watch. Rember that robbed it. He couldn't. I
was like, so what to lie? At least give me it.
They're they're a blast to watch. Come on, like they're
entered there. They're really funny. Of course, I mean, if
you like, lose it. If you're not gonna make this
super I don't know what's gonna make suit right now, Rob,
I'm just saying, right now, right now, you telling me
not one of the most fun teams watching the last
few years. Yes, And he couldn't have been. I'm like, dude,
(13:04):
you got Jared Goff catching touchdown passes. It's like, come on, man,
at least admit that. But no, I I this is
but this is where it is going to be interesting.
On the other end of the bounce back for the Lions,
meaning you lose a Ben Johnson his creativity, did you
keep enough in house? And and Aaron Glenn on the
defensive side of the ball as well, who I think
will get a bad rap towards the end, but people
(13:25):
will forget he lost so many starters one defensive end
as well. All right, Kayleb Williams And the proclamation, oh,
real quick, forget how bad are the Bears that you've
never had a four thousand yard passer? Pretty bad? And
this era where guys are chucking it all around, teams
have had multiple four thousand yard passes kind of the
standard if you're a good quarter but you don't even
have to be great, just if you're a good quarterback. Yeah,
(13:46):
to never have had that, what the heck is wrong
with your franchise? Yeah, they'll do it this year. And
I understand defense and running it. And did I ever
tell you about sweetness? How great you? I understand that
in the eighties. Yeah, but bruh, somebody accidentally throws for
for you know, forty two hundre yard just got hot, right,
I had an eight week stretch, you know a few
of those hell Mary's worked something ran into some reason
(14:09):
that year you played you know, the you played the
bad Lions years when they were bad, and maybe the
Vikings weren't the greatest thing. And maybe you got to
play the Jags or AFC South or something at the time,
and you had some bad teams and you threw for
four hundred forty two hundred yards. My goodness, all right,
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, Cary, Let's take
a couple of calls on this. If you have a
problem with Kayleb Williams throwing out those projections what he wants,
(14:31):
does it ultimately matter because Jalen Hurts has had some
success without you know, having that throw for forty four
thousand yards or more? Or is that obtainable or should
that be something easy to do in the day and
age eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox want to
hear from you about that. Also too, Who should be
the starting quarterback in the city in which you play?
(14:51):
We'll talk about that as well. It is Carrie Roads
and for Rob kelvin Washington, yat Couple Fox Sports Radio,
stick and stay your name is not Carrie Rhodes in
the US event.
Speaker 2 (15:02):

little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast

There you go over promising. Remember you could see it
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen over promised with
Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
Wow, well, I don't know this one. What's this one?
I think I'm going full anime mode on this one. Okay,
this one's Attack on Titan, Attack on Titan oh Man,
one of the best animes ever. Okay, did have like
the acronyms it like AOT or something. Yes, see, yeah,
I'm in it. Look at you. I just made that up.
I sounded cool that it's too late. He said it already.
(16:38):
It stumps nobody heard it is the couple kelvin Washington
carry Roads and for rob on a TV themes on Thursday.
And even I know anime, so I keep going, Yes,
what is it? What if Pokemon did was and the
angles and then when you look at the and Digimon
and Beaniemn Beaniemn as well. Oh, Benie Money, I know
(17:01):
Bennie Money, Beni Moni and Yu gi oh and all them. Yeah, yeah,
some good stuff. You know, Saturdays at Noon is lit
that Cartoon Network and stuff. You're looking at me like
you like you want me to confirmtmaot at AOC politically
or not. I'm not saying that. I'm saying AOT.
Speaker 6 (17:17):
But you're looking at me like you want me to
confirm that you don't know what you're talking about business.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
I'm okay. Cool. And you can stream our show and
all of your favorite Fox Sports Radio shows live twenty
four to seven on the new and improved Downheart Radio app.
Just search Fox Sports Radio in the app to stream
us live. One of the newest features in the app
carries that you can select Fox Sports Radio is one
of your presets, just like the presets on your radio.
Dops would be sure the preset Fox Sports Radio on
the iHeart Radio app, So it's gonna pop up on
(17:41):
the screen, all right. Kayleb Williams four thousand yards first
embarrassed history. Ridiculous that somebody come on now, it's twenty
twenty five. He'll get it. He'll get it, but not
I know he will. But Dan, you went you last
one hundred years and also seventy percent completion. That's the one.
It's kind of like whoa Okay, those are his projections
and essentially carry believes that's more of a team thing
and he's not, you know, putting himself out there. My
(18:01):
thing is, I don't mind him having goals. I think
we all have goals, and professionally doesn't matter. But more
or less to me, I want you to focus. Let's
just get in there and see what type of team
we are, who we are, so that we're not focusing
on that. Maybe we've run your past for thirty seven hundred,
your rush for twelve hundred, you know, or a thousand
as possible with him as athletic he is as he is,
and you're winning games. Well, I'd rather have that than
focusing on that. Jalen Hurts eight seven, seven ninety nine
(18:24):
on Fox, Will take a call Chili, Tim in the
atl what's up, Chili?
Speaker 4 (18:30):
What a hell man?
Speaker 3 (18:34):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (18:35):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (18:36):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Brother?
Speaker 3 (18:36):
How you doing?
Speaker 9 (18:37):
Mabe goody good? You know, he's had better support than
the justin field and a couple other quarterbacks have had
in with players and coaches, you know, so he has
no choice but to kind of get it done.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
But can we just.
Speaker 9 (18:53):
Concentrate on being a winning team because you're in a
tough division, you know, and then there's a lot of
other good teams, so you know, making the playoffs would
be that's kind of aspirational. But can at least get
a you know, a winning season. Just concentrate on that, man,
because you've been given all the tools. Just just you know,
(19:14):
concentrate on getting the winning season and you know, developed,
and go from there and then this by all the
other stuff later.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Yeah, that's what my thing, Chilly is that the team
on paper looks good. Offensively, you have an offensive genius
and Ben Johnson, Kayler Williams should be better. Second year
and more experience, you know, obviously if he uses all
the skills in his tool belt, should be good. But
that's that's why I was saying, Carrie, I don't really
care that he has these goals. Again, I think everybody
(19:42):
has goals. More so the focus on let's just find
out who we are. Let's go out there and win.
Let's see what's winning footballs is for the Bears because
every you know this, all thirty two teams are different.
Of course, Lamar Jackson can have Okay, as a matter
of fact, I take that back. Take him out of this, yeah,
take him to strike him for the next seven years,
striking from the because he's a video game play yes,
but Jalen hurts again thirty, he could have thirty two
(20:04):
hundred yards pass rush for one thy twelve and they
could just win. They could go fifteen and two bo Nicks.
What's that going to look like for him? Everybody's having
high hopes for him right now. You know he has
a good combination of running pass. My point is, you
just don't know what's going to be good. Patrick Mahomes.
If I just told you the numbers, you think, oh yeah, Pat,
what that max ten and seven? You know what I mean?
(20:25):
Maybe maybe you thought they would be nine and eight
if I just told you his numbers. But then you
look up and he's fifteen and two and he's in
a Super Bowl. Did you have did you have? I
want to get eighty tackles? Four to seven?
Speaker 4 (20:36):
No?
Speaker 3 (20:36):
You just a season? Was a season? Was a season? Yes?
Speaker 6 (20:39):
But there would be bigger goals, right, I mean for me, internals,
internal goals. Like you said, I wouldn't come out and
say I want to be a Pro Bowl player. I
think that kind of speaks for itself. If I have
the season that I wanted to have, it's going to
add up to that, right, So I think internally, yes,
you're going to have those goals. I think even publicly
sometimes you're going to state the goals, but you would
want to state team goals, right. And that's why when
(21:01):
I hear these comments, I get that feel, right, I
I could tell that the conversation has been had. This
is gonna be your ceiling, this is what we want
you to be. You're this type of quarterback potentially, and
let's go see it. And you also talk about you
don't know what what they are as a team yet, yeah,
but but I think internally they do so like they're
(21:22):
having discussions, right, this is who we are going to be,
this is our identity. And they ain't crack that field,
but no, one hundred percent, but that's what they're saying.
So that's where that's where it's all coming from. Hey man,
you was all right twenty three interceptions.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Oh you're looking at my staff? It was all right
out here in these streets. I was decent, man, I'm decent. Yeah, yeah,
that's real deal. Yeah. Some people get hot and have
a year, you know, like two three years agow, it
was like five five okay, and then we already twenty
three interceptions? Is real.
Speaker 6 (21:55):
I appreciate that. Yes, yeah, I do, Yeah, No, I was.
I was all right back in my day, man, I was.
I was all right, let's put it that way. And
I had big goals, one hundred and six tackles. I
told you talking about forty, I was like forty one.
That's one of those that's one of those years when
you have like the number one defense and it goes
down a little bit.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Yeah, not my rookie year. We didn't so nine next come,
you couldn't get that one more to get another hundred.
I didn't want it. I told you.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
I told you Kevin, I did not want if I
got a hundred, tacle was we were not that good.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
I got you know what I mean. He wasn't supposed
to be audib wy he all the way back here
exactly all right on the way. We're gonna have Jerry
bell Usa today. NFL columnists will talk some football with him.
He is a at Steelers camp, so'll be good to
hear fro him. And yet right now, Moncielino is gonna
give us what's training NAZI.
Speaker 2 (22:41):

Speaker 6 (22:53):
I grabbed it and looked, and the first thing that
popped up was from Adam Schefter what I what I thought?
What I thought, Jets quarterback Tustin Fields has went down
within the parent Achilles injury. I was like, no, I'm
tweeting all over the place, not an Achilles injury, not again.
(23:14):
And I got people messed to me saying, no, that's
a fake account. Right, yeah, I said, this is why
I stay off right. You gotta wipe the crust dot.
You gotta wait, wait till you got your bearings again.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
Gotta wait. Yeah. But by the way, they gotta start
playing around with that too, because I did. And then
with a Now they're getting crazy. Now you don't know
what to believe it. And and sometimes especially if it's
in this case Jets you of course it's so when
it's something's personal to you, whether it's your team, well
you know you you immediately just ready to respond, or
more than even respond. I'll say, you send it to
(23:47):
people and then you gotta backtrack. I got a question
for you, guys.
Speaker 6 (23:50):
So, like, when you do do something like that, if
you step outside of the line, and you tweet it
back too quickly.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Are you a delet or you just let it ride?
It's a great that's a great question. Let's you know what,
let's ask Jared Bell. We are, of course now the
Eye couple kelvin Washington. We got my man Kerry Rose
in for Rob Parker, and we're joined now by Jared Bell. USA.
Today NFL columnists live at the Steelers camp during this
(24:16):
training camp session. Jared, how you doing?
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Yeah? Pretty good here in uh, you know, beautiful La Trope, Pennsylvania.
You know, the Steelers are one of the few teams
that still goes away for training camp. Now. It's about
forty five minutes outside of Pittsburgh, so it's not far,
but it is quaint, it is secluded, it is a
beautiful college campus, and it's you know, it's that old
(24:41):
school training camp with the Steelers. So but I did
hear what you just get what you guys just say? Yeah,
as I was waiting to come on, and I guess
my only piece of advice collect the fact didn't react there,
you know, I like that.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
Jerry put that to the T shirt, Manski, collect the
facts before you before you we act to do that.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
Myself. I'm not I'm not speaking out of you know,
any lack of experience with that.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Jared, you not alone. We all have this guy. We've
all been got. It's gotten all of us before. All right, Hey,
let's go here. You're you're at the Steelers right now,
So let's let's talk about how they look and what
really have they've settled into. You know, we've got the
older Avengers, if you will. We went and got serious Slay,
We got Jaylen Ramsey, I know, and of course you
(25:36):
know sports relative age, meaning they're not old in real life.
But you know, we got Aaron Rodgers. He's old. And
what do you make of just the guys they got
and the guys are police d DK Metcalf as well.
How are you viewing their twenty twenty five campaign thus far?
Speaker 4 (25:53):
Yeah, you know, I mean it's pretty obvious that you know,
they're all in to try to win, to win it
as best as they can, because we know the story
with the Steelers is that you know, they've won, they've
never had losing season under Mike Commlin, but they haven't
won a playoff game in like eight years or whatever,
(26:14):
So you know, there's a lot of pressure and a
lot of no Agen has been really for a number
of years about whether this team could get back to
a super Bowl level. And so yeah, after what happened
last year where they were I want to say they
were like ten and three at some point in early
December and then the bottom fell out, and so you know,
(26:39):
they just were so aggressive in the offseason and I think,
you know, you pointed it out that they've got some
old warheads, right, and they've got the guys who've been
around the block and you know, starting with Aaron Rodgers
and some of the other guys you mentioned Jalen Ramsey. Yeah,
it's going to be something that's a fight to behold
(27:03):
one way or the other. But I think they're better.
And you know what the other thing too, you know,
they've got they still have some young talent on this team, right.
And I saw this running back today and I mean
it's one practice, right, but they look down to this
and he looked he looked very explosive. It's like, Okay,
(27:25):
I could see them, you know, really finding a spot
for you know, playing a major impact on their offense,
you know, locknack the air. So yeah, there's some things
to be excited.
Speaker 6 (27:36):
About Jared I want to kind of stand that same vein,
but I want to I want to flip it to
the to the fan point of view of it. Right,
So all these names, we know, these names, we know
there they've been good players in this league, and you know,
I think their reputations kind of you know, precede themselves
when they step on the field. But I want to
talk about the loyal Steeler fans and what are their
(27:57):
expectations for this team.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
Yeah, you know, I did a story like right uh
here in Pittsburgh, like right after Rogers signed his deal
a few weeks ago, and I talked to some fans,
and you know, there's a there's a degree of you know,
skepticism just because they've had their hopes up for so long.
(28:22):
But I think they're, you know, they're willing to give
it a shot. Now. The thing I remember there was
this one guy who like burned make of Fence Patrick's
jersey on social media or something like that. So you
know there are some people out there at that other
extreme that were like, you know, we don't want Aaron
(28:43):
Rodgers and you know, on and so forth. But so
with fans, you know, you kind of have it run
the whole the full gamut a lot of times, and
so I think it's wait and see. A couple of
the fans I talked to, though, kind of said the
same things, like every year, you know, we want to
expect that we could win the Super Bowl. So they're
(29:05):
still die hard fast. Nobody has given up on this team,
although in recent years Mike Tomlin has had a lot
of heat from you know, some of the fans saying, hey,
can he get us back to that championship level. So
that's a good expectation to have for any team, and
you know, the Steelers have you know, as I mentioned
(29:27):
a few minutes ago, they've won enough games to get
to the playoffs obviously, and they've been competitive, but not
championship competitive. So I think that's the expectation. And you know,
can Aaron Rodgers do what Tom Brady did a few
years ago with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's a different
deal because it's Rogers versus Brady. But I also think
(29:48):
that it's a better situation for Rogers in the sense
that everything doesn't have to kind of revolve around him.
But when I say better situation than I'm saying and
I'm saying better than what he stepped into with the
New York Jets.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
Okay, jer you're doing too much, Jared, You're doing well.
You know, carry's a forward Jets. So that's why he's
saying that. I'm saying it because it was sitting right
there too. They had group receivers, they had deep supposedly
a really good defense at the time, they had backs.
I mean, it didn't work there. I don't think the
Steelers are necessarily better. Let me ask you this, Jared,
(30:25):
let me.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
Stop real quick, just just to add one thing here,
you know, and I agree with that with the Jets.
The Jets were built to, you know, take off.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Okay, I see what you're doing. They're looking Southwestern.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
But they were still a team that hadn't won. They
were still a team that was, you know, still trying
to find that that that that playoff rhythm, if you will.
And they thought Aaron Rodgers was going to be that guy.
And then unfortunately it got hurt and we never saw
what could have happened after that. But then so you
(31:00):
got hurt, and that season just went to what you know,
went down the tubes. It's just like it was like
popping a big you know, a pin in the balloon
and everything just kind of deflated going into that next year.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
This one last one for me here again, thank you
Jared Bells joining the AAKA, but last one for me.
When you look at the Steelers, everything we've just talked about,
everything you just elaborated on, all of this, to me
felt like they're going for the gusto, like one here
we go, this is all in, all in on well,
to me, they're all into what go ten and seven
(31:33):
at best win a playoff game meeting. They did all
of this. They didn't do this to set themselves up
for the future, of my opinion, they did this to
be right back having these conversations next year. Am I wrong?
Speaker 4 (31:43):
I know you're not wrong to think that, but I
think you know that they're always trying to do both.
They're trying to win now. Like if you like Omar Khan,
the GM, you know, he talked to the media yesterday
and he said, hey, you know, I'm always trying to
you know, build the things that we can compete this year,
next year and the next year after that. And then
(32:04):
they asked Mike Tomlin, He's like, all I'm thinking about
is they want to trade a camp here right right,
So you know, I think a lot of NFL teams
kind of have to operate like that. But there's no
question this is definitely an all in year, and you
look at the pieces that they brought in. It just
it lends itself to say, at least give us a shot. Now.
(32:27):
I hate to be the one to sit here in
July and say that somebody can't do something and that
it's this is all that's going to happen, and this
is the ceiling. So maybe ye have to one degree
that's your expectation is that other ten and seven get
to the playoffs. But it really comes down to how
are teams playing down the stretch, right and you know,
(32:49):
we really we'll be able to see some things along
the way. And you know, teams that you see in September,
by the time they get to November December, they could
be a lot better or a lot worse. So I
think the key with the Steelers, especially for a team that,
like say last year they were ten and three, You know, what,
what are we going to see in December with this
(33:11):
team that's a long way away. But if they are
you know, competitives and getting better and healthy, right, And
you know, asked Cam Hayward about this today actually, and
you know, one of the things that he said was,
you know, if we can just be consistent and and
get to you know, the end of the season, in
the stretch run, where we're playing consistent ball and we're
(33:34):
not just relying on one side of the ball to
care the other side of the ball, then then we'll
have a ten TJ. Whitte talked about it yesterday. Obviously,
you want to be fresh and healthy, and every team
in the league can say that. But I just think
that if Aaron Rodgers is is the best that he
can be at this point and the supporting cast is,
(33:56):
then you get to January and you say, okay, they
will win the playoff game this time, and then from
there who knows. But you know, every year in the
NFL you have these teams that make the playoffs that
didn't the year before and vice versa. So I just
would hate to write them off right now and say
(34:17):
that this is their ceiling when they've made all of
these moves and there are some things to be excited
about if they all come together.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
So I'm glad you said that because I'm the polar opposite,
and I'm writing them off. I'm writing it off in
permanent e too. I ain't even got on race it. Jared,
thank you so much. We appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Man, all right, man, I appreciate you guys. Have a
good one there.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Too, Jared bell On ask give him a follow Player

Carry justin fields torn A Keelles according.
Speaker 6 (36:28):
To you.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
According to not Adam, shefter Adam, and then you falling
for it. I wonder if those sites like that, like
NBA sent no not NBA, so they just get them.
If they have a blast like of course, then they
see people all you know, and panties in a bunch
about so oh no, they're like, ah, we got to
you got it. There's Stephen a is Steven A. Smith
(36:55):
has I don't remember the name, but he has shout
out to him, Shannon Sharp has one. If you don't
read it, it might even be like Shannon Shape. It's
like if you don't read it and they use a
for real profile pick or something, so you like you
just you, Oh my gosh, I can't believe this, can't
believe that. But anyway, after you had to go back,
go backtrack and become investigative reporter bad toe that they
(37:17):
say should have him out until about they're hopeful. They
actually kind of got him as day to day, so
that to day yeah, and they're saying they're hopeful that
he'll be ready for week one against the Steelers, which
would be obviously you gotta be ready, ready for you'll
be ready for that. You want to prove to your
old your old boo of course that they let you
go too soon. But with that being said, just small
(37:39):
my thought carry was a setback in that you're losing time,
you're losing reps, but not a major major setback because
he was there present for OTA's mini camps. He's been
there since day one. He's had that chip on his shoulder. Yep,
he's wanted to, you know, be He talked about like
I'm glad somebody wanted me, you know. And so you know,
he's all in being committed in there first and last
(38:01):
out and meaning he's he's kept up with everything and
he's going to be able to be there. This isn't
something crazy where he has to go away and you
know what I mean, deal with something for a while,
blood clots or something where you can't even be there.
You got to work on that and worry about that.
He'll be able to be around. He'll be able to
be a part and be participatory in most things, obviously
not necessarily playing. But I think this is the worst
case scenario with the scare with your quarter of your
(38:22):
new starting quarterback.
Speaker 6 (38:23):
It's a scare. Obviously when you see him getting carted off,
that's a big deal. So I think once you get
past that initial stage, now it's what do I need
to do to get better and be ready to play
by a week one?
Speaker 3 (38:33):
Right?
Speaker 6 (38:33):
I mean for him. I think some preseason reps he
does need in games. But if you can't, and you
know he has to be back for Week one, then
let's just gear it for that. But that toe can
be a nuisance all year, though, so you want to
hope that it's not a bad one because as small
as it sounds, a toe, you need your toe, you
do so run to and for him, that's that's right,
(38:55):
that's part of it. That's a big part of what
his game is going to be. The Steelers didn't know
that they messed up. They messed up. Set up here
for a whole year telling Rob. They're like, Justin Field,
use him, you got to do you not see who
are the two candidates for MVP.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Both run scare the defenses.
They don't know what to expect. And I'm like, Justin
Fields is athletic and big and it not even use it.
I don't know what the Steelers were doing right now,
we're quarterback position it. I don't know what. I don't
know if they know either that. You know what factual
Hawk Hogan passed. We got to talk about it. We'll
do it next
