Kelvin and carry in for Rob on a TV theme
So on Thursday, got a good one lined up? You

(00:49):
and review the podcast and raty five stars again. Just
search Odd Couple wherever you get your podcasts. You're gonna
find today's show and the best of version posted right
after we get off the air. All right, Kerry, the
best part about I think my ort least one of
my favorite things since I've been a part of this show.
Here's been that Rob and I have been able to
have some conversations that I don't think a lot of
(01:12):
folks maybe give their listeners credit that they you know,
the listener credit that they'll enjoy. Yeah, maybe some folks
are scared to do it, or maybe they just genuinely
don't you know, ask not what we want to do, right.
But one of the things Rob and I will yell
at each other, We'll roast each other, will laugh, will
have fun, We'll you know, we'll hit the kind of
the the classics if you will as well. But one
(01:32):
of the things I like that will branch out and
have some interesting conversation. I love you and I wrap
a lot off the air, and so I know you're
a guy who's you know, complex and and have depth
and can have these types of conversations as well. I
think one I wanted to have was Hawk Hogan, who
died at the age of seventy one today cardiac arrest.
And I found it just really interesting how people have
(01:58):
to go about their posts in twenty twenty five. Here's
what I mean. If you're around our age, you grew
up with Hawkogan being if you're you're a three year
old running around the house.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Five year old running around the house and your little onesies,
you know, our.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Little underwear doing wrestling moves, watching him as the sport
was taking off. That was me, you know, walking and
walking watching him. You know, what are you gonna do
when the Hawkster comes under you and ripping tank tops
and like that era?
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Listen up, brother, Yeah that era was lit right for me.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
You had him and a little bit later Ultimate Warrior,
Ultimate Warrior, Andre the Giant and uh Coco Beware and
I might be mixing up w w Rick all this.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
It was just the wrestling air to me.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
The eighties was my was my time, you know, Junkyard Dog,
Million Dollar Man again. I might be mixing up at
the point, but I enjoyed it was great.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
It was fun. Saturday mornings were a blast. Right then.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
I jumped out pretty early, just because once you realize
it wasn't about twelve eleven is of course for me,
I don't know. And a lot of people kept going
and that's their thing and we and I'm talking to
Rob g. There were guys our age maybe five six,
seven years old, are all in to this day still
go to WrestleManias. You know, got their podcast dedicated to it.
(03:15):
Got the merge. They're there, they're all in, they're locked in,
which is perfectly fine. We all have our things right.
And I found that people had a difficult day to
day because of Halk Hogan's transgressions. Right, you got sex tape,
you got the use of the N word, You've got
other stuff. Maybe politically, shows up to the GOP convention
and he's you know, he's out there ripping shirts then
in favor of President Trump, candidate Trump at the time,
(03:38):
but now you know, now president again for the second term.
And I just found it interesting that people had to
let they were nervous how to post because they're a
fan of wrestling, and he means so much to their youth, gotcha,
But because of all the other stuff over the last
ten fifteen years, they didn't know if they were to
just say a picture of him, oh man, rest in
(03:59):
peace to the great Hawk Hogan. And especially if they're
a person of color, especially if they were black, they
knew what was coming. What you mean the racist, what
you mean to this, what you mean to that? And
there were those things. There's no denying that, sure, But
I found it interesting that people had to press, Well,
this is all only wrestler only. I'm only talking about
(04:20):
the wrestler. Or And was there a thing between are
we in the day and age now where we have
to separate, you know, Hawk Hogan from Terry Hogan, you know,
like the character.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I loved him or I was all in on that.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
I loved the show, I loved wrestling, I loved you know,
the reality showed us for whatever your thing was. And
I'm not down with the him the person. And I
just found it interesting because if where are we now
with sports? Do you love Cliff Huxtable but not Bill
Cosby in sports? Oh you're going, I see what you're
doing in sports? It is that's not easy. Some people
(04:57):
they you know, I rock with the Steelers, but I
didn't rock with Ben Roethlisberger what he did in the
you know, the young lady. And so where do you
draw that line between the person and the player, the
person and the entertainment, the person and the musician, whatever
it is. And I find this and I don't By
the way, I don't have the answer. I'll give you
(05:20):
a real world example for me. Okay, A lot of
people try to come down on Michael Jackson, man for me,
it beat it came on right now if remember the
time or thriller I'm a jam me too, because for me,
he obviously had the trials.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
And do I think it was a strange dude?
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Yes, but I can like separate and it's like, I
no real evidence is showing me anything? Then would R
Kelly for me just to use these as example? I
start to hear in the music. Now that I'm older,
I can look back like, oh shoot.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
R Kelly went as a dangerous one. He was saying.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
He was saying his song, yeah for too many in
the windows and little things, and I'm like, ooh shoot,
and it hurts you. He was one of, you know,
my favorite artists. He was amazing. But so it doesn't
quite feel as good for me. I hear, oh yeah,
I read that line there, you know, So show me
some id and little things and it's like ooh. His
moniker changed to the pied piper. Who wouldn't the pie
(06:14):
piper do play the flute? And lude kids lurd kids
and just some weird stuff that I'm like, I don't feel.
So my point I was saying all this is I
don't have the answers. But it was just amazing me
to see people nervous how to post about Halkkin because
their youth or their fandom for wrestling love what he meant.
The sport blew up because he commercialized it to another level.
We wouldn't have you Rock Stonecas Steve Austin under all
(06:37):
these massive stars without him, but they had to quickly
get you. But I don't condone the stuff and I
don't like Himedians I raised it and I was like, wow,
we're at the place so I because of the advent
of social media, because of twenty four hour news cycles
and sports shows and bachel we know everything about people.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
We talk about it. It's on your timeline.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
And I think people were able to get away with
maybe being bad people back in the day, yes, and
we didn't know, yes, the very easy or being complex people.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
And we didn't know.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Yeah, the very easy way to approach this in this
topic of what you're saying is don't post about it.
I know people want to show their adoration. I know
they want to be in the times with the people
and the masses and show their appreciation or show their
love for whoever it is, or show their disdain for
whoever it is.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Right, But why does it have to go on.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
Social media for people to show their appreciation or disdain
to anybody rights. We live in the culture where it's
more about the person and the other person on the
other end of the keyboard who has a chance to
dispute it, refute it, or agree with it. Like we're
giving power to those people way too much. Because if
(07:46):
you do have an adoration for Hook Hogan or Michael
Jackson or whoever it is, the world doesn't have to
know about it. That can be your best friend you
talk to about it off air or off the sites,
off of social media. So I think, yes, it's a
dangerous game out trying to do it on because everything
you do on somebody's going to have something else to
say about it, of course, And so that's the dangerous game, right,
(08:07):
Like you have to give yourself and allow yourself the
space to grieve and to celebrate and do the things
you want to on your own time and on your
own space and your own in your own little world, man,
because I think it's dangerous. Now, nobody wants the safe guy.
Nobody wants to interact with the person that's always politically
correct either. So it's like Okay, somebody's on here looking
(08:29):
for Like somebody went on the internet today and was like,
I'm going to look and see whoever posts about Holgan today.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
More specific like especially a black person that like that part.
If you yeah, and they're absolutely waking up. If you're
a black person, you post about it on your head
and again you have the fair I'm talking about personal
people I need yes on my phage and timelines who
are struggling like, yeah, I want to talk about him
because I'm like, I mean, wrestling nerds like I get
(08:57):
it in Yeah, but they were all I'm gonna say
is he did a lot for the sport and they
kind of jumped off the postal and you know, let
me just say this, he took the sport to another
level and Harriet, you know, but I ain't gonna say
that else. Well, other people were like, you know, trying
to do deep dive and think pieces, and again he
put a lot of this on himself. Yes, when you
(09:17):
have racist phone calls, when you got sex tapes out there,
when you got other things you've done, when you start
joining and aligning with the group of people who politically
a lot of people feel are mistreating people are belittling people,
are disrespectful to people, and that's how you've lined yourself
up with them.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
This is what you're gonna get And listen.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
To this Kevin and like the thing about Hope though
two of those incidents were supposedly private, and so this
is the other part about the legacy of us as humans, right,
Like everybody wants everything to be public, and when you
want everything to be public, there's gonna be things about people,
and you're the people you idolize that you don't like.
And that's the part, like stop fishing for the thing
(09:58):
and allow the character, allow the person to be that person,
and stop deep diving.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
And that's where it gets complicated to me because again
I say, for instance, Babe Bruce, he's so many people
I'm in the greatest American Athlete. Listen, we dive into
some Babe Ruthe stuff, We're gonna be like, whoa. I mean,
that's Michael Jordan. You know some people he's got gambling
issues some people. No, he just likes to gamble a
little bit. He like he does this. Why didn't Michael
Jordan ever speak up about you know, black issue, Like
(10:24):
you can deep dive on so many people Tom Brady people,
you know, well, what's the maca hat behind you? You know,
and and other things that you know he's done and trance.
So that's my thing is that it is interesting when
you're an entertainer, musician in this case, and an athlete
slash entertainer because wrestling. You know, he is athletic, and
you know, some people think it's just drama whatever you
want to call it, when your kind of skeletons are
(10:49):
out there, your things. Now we're going to judge you.
Now we're gonna, you know, look at you the person.
But again, can we love and respect or idolize or
enjoy the character? I think it's just a great conversation.
A lot of people love John Wayne.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
He was this.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Then you start diving into John Wayne. You're like, eh, right,
I don't really like what John Wayne was about exactly.
So he Yeah, I want to open that up eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. Let's take some calls on this.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
Yeah, that's a good one.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
You know, how do you handle when your favorite athlete, musician,
entertainer is in steps inate? Can you separate the art
from the artists? Do you say nope? Once you're once
you know, I find out this is the type of
person you are out are you? You know, some people
would say they're all out HAULK. Hogan was a horrible
(11:33):
person to them. And I don't mess with him flat out.
I don't give a dang how hot he was in
the eighties. I don't mess with him right And other
people will say, yo, I can separate. I can go
see Woody Allen movies, knowing there's some allegedly weird stuff
going on with Woody Allen. Yeah, that's that's another one.
I can go see Brave Heart Lethal Weapons. But then again,
maybe you don't like Mel Gibson and some of the
(11:54):
stuff he's done. He said, you know, some people can't.
Some people can't. I want to hear from you all
on this, Carrie, and I would love to hear your
thoughts seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox, as you kind of do the deep
dive into Hawk Hogan in the legacy, because there's no
denying the greatness in what he meant to that sport
in the pop culture in particular throughout the eighties, nineties
and even early two thousands. We'll take some phone calls
(12:16):
on this It is THEA couple. I'm Kelvin. He's carrying
for Rob on a TV things on Thursday Stick and
Stay Shay, Got Your Guard.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
To Break America.
Speaker 2 (12:34):

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Well, I think I know this one, am I supposed to?
It sounds like he said it in the track.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
I'm not a hundred soon, but I would think it's
a U GI Oh, Okay, all right. Carrie's man attention
one for Team Carried.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
I don't know, but that sounds like something now with order.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Alex is in his anime back on this TV theme
So on Thursday, Odd Couple Kevin Washington Carry Rows and
Carrie Yo Yo. For over forty years, tire rek has
been helping customers find the right tires for how, what,
where they drive, ship fast and free back by free
road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire
installation tirerack dot com.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
It is the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
I want you again, just for those who tune it in,
just quickly rehash what we're doing we get to these
calls now, and I see a lot of calls because
I think it's an interesting conversation, right, Glad you're here
to have this as well.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
When you have entertainers, in this case, an athlete and
entertainer in Hulkokan who passes at seventy one of cardiac arrest,
that comes with a lot of baggage. The last fifteen
to twenty years, we've had sex tapes, we've had the
N word use, We've had and you brought up a
great point. Some of these were in private moments that
have become public, right, and also some other things he's
done in again where he lines up people don't There's
(14:00):
a lot people don't agree. Some people obviously a okay,
shearing going crazy at the convention point being the conversation
was when you have athletes, who entertainers who have dove
into things that you may don't agree with. Maybe some
things are criminal, but they bounce back, they serve their
time whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Do you forgive them?
Speaker 1 (14:18):
You forgive Mike Vick with the dogs, You forgive this
athlete dis entertainer or they are they they're done with you. See,
that's a great example Moncey says no. When I said Mike,
she hadn't said anything all day. I said Mike Vick.
She said no, she dead.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
A lot of other people, including Peter, call in with it.
Speaker 6 (14:36):
Know.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
They say he has shown he's been. Literally, people use
him as the poster child for contrition and redemption. Oh really,
oh Peter did, Yeah, that's what out of doubt some people. No,
he's literally I mean you read the story. That's why
he's been. It's yeah, people are really but look at
like a and then we'll get this called Alex Rodriguez. Yes,
persona non grata, right, you got Calltree And now he's
(14:56):
doing he's on the Baseball Channel doing he's doing the
World Series of doing games and and owning teams. Everybody's up,
so you just never know eight seven seven ninety nine
on fights and quick go to the calls like Mike
Vick is actually a really good dude too.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
It's just crazy. I mean, no, I know you make
mistakes him obviously. That's that's a big one for Manci.
I know Moncy loves animals.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
So what's funny about that is I think Moncey would
be I'm not excusing it moncy would be blown away.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
And I think a lot of people are.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
One thing I've learned about life, this is very simple
world word. Culturally, there are so many things that you
would never and I would never. But culturally, if you
go this ain't a black thing. If you go to
certain parts of the South, I don't give a dang
what race, Latino white. But they're fighting dogs, cocks, everything.
They don't give a dang it. If it's too ed,
(15:44):
we're gonna fight. And they don't even see a thing
wrong with him. And you go to other parts like California,
a lot of people who where they love their animal,
they will be like what of course, So it's it's
always interesting. All right, let's give it this false see
who we got here on this TV thing? So on Thursday,
let's go to Mark and Tennessee. Mark, you are on
with the odd Couple Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (16:05):
Hey, Mark, I appreciate you taking a call. Uh, but
there are good people out there. Most people are good people.
But when are we gonna start listening to the noise.
Everybody's gonna say bad things private moments, public moments. But
the thing about it is if we just shut it
down and just try to stay vanilla and in the middle,
and I'll.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
Speak on minds. We're a bunch of robots.
Speaker 7 (16:28):
Let people do their thing.
Speaker 6 (16:30):
Appreciate what they've done. Appreciate what Michael Jordan did. Who
cares about the gambling and everything else. Appreciate what Will did.
He cares about hauled the women and things like that
about well, we'll.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Care about the women.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Will care about the women, Marky, real quick before I
let me tell you twenty thousand of them.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Go ahead, go.
Speaker 6 (16:46):
Ahead, Yeah, so, just I mean, forget about you know,
worry about the music, the athletic ability, the acting ability is.
I don't like Robert DeNiro, but the guy can act.
Speaker 8 (16:58):
Right.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
I'm not gonna stop seeing this movie. The same with
No Gibson, the guy, the great director and great actor.
Speaker 7 (17:02):
I'm not gonna stop seeing his movie.
Speaker 6 (17:04):
Appreciate what they've done and let the noise go.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
All right.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
I appreciate the call. Mark A lot of people may agree.
I have a feeling we're gonna get others who don't.
That's the beauty of this conversation. All right, let's go
now to uh go to Tom in Tallahassee Tom, you're
on with the ad couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (17:21):
Hey guys, a long time listener, first time calling.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Hey, appreciated Tom.
Speaker 6 (17:26):
Hey, So this this is an example of that. I
came up when I heard your question. Like, so, like
Tom Cruise, he's just like way out there right yep,
fu the both sides of his head. And sometimes he's
not very relatable, but it's not gonna stop me from
going to see Top Gun.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Two or some other action Missing Impossible ninety two.
Speaker 6 (17:44):
Yes. But but then but then you got like, you know,
Phil Cosby, who like that one really hurts because, like
you know, I grew up with him as an icon.
You know, I just thought he was like America's dad.
I really bought into the whole thing. And then you
find out, Wow, this guy really had a deceptive pattern
and what he did allegedly all these women, I mean,
just really rocked me. Like wow, not that I put
(18:07):
my hope and trust in them, because I put my
hope and trust in Jesus, but man, at the same time,
it's like, wow, this guy really pool of people because
he was he was the staff of Americana for so long.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Yeah, And the crazy part about the Bill Cosby thing
is like you can be mad at Bill Cosby, and
what he did was despicable.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
But when you put the hate on.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
Somebody like that and counsel him, do you counsel everybody
else with the Cosby showing. I think that's the other
part of that element that's pretty hard to dance around.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
And I think that they appreciate the call. Tom. That's
what gets complicated and you felt bad for like.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Exactly obviously, rest in peace, Malcolm joms Water a lot
of them. That was a check since you know, for
years and years and years and then people stopped watching,
they stopped network stopped airing it. Now you're losing residuals.
People had nothing to do with what he was doing,
so you get the residual effects. No pun intended with residuals.
All right, I said, cople more real quick. Let's go
to Jay Georgia. Jay, you're still talking about them scripts.
Speaker 7 (19:04):
Oh yeah, man, my girl, my girl been listening to
that man on the podcast.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
He's selling to you that my girl.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Yeah, we we had some fun with some script talk
with him and lady got into it.
Speaker 7 (19:17):
That would go through man. But uh yeah, I want
to say as a black man in America, I have nothing,
absolutely nothing, zero Zim not a whole hulking. And I'm
the guy I know how to separate, you know, the
art from the person. But I feel like when you're
when you're being racist and when you're doing either things
aka Bill, Kip and Trump whoever you want to say,
(19:41):
it's a thin line that because you're choosing to be
an evil person. You know what I'm saying. People make mistakes.
Might be people make mistakes. We all human, we all
make mistakes. But I feel like when you're speating five
stuff or you're talking about a group of people a racist,
people know you're just an evil person. When you're hurting people,
you're army people farming women. No, you're an evil personal.
(20:03):
So I won't absolutely nothing to.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Do with you.
Speaker 7 (20:05):
And that did my take on it.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
No doubt. All Right, appreciate you Jay as always.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Let's get one more here before we get to moncey
Unzi's take was gonna we.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
Know her take. She's been chilling in her own world,
I said, Michael Vice said Vic and that, oh she's the.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
First time the other day I finally heard her say,
let's go to Eric in Austin, Austin, Texas. Eric, you
were on with the odd couple. Fox Sports Radio. What
do you have to say to this?
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Eric Man? What what up?
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Man?
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Man?
Speaker 5 (20:35):
Listen? I got a little bit of saying, give me
a second. All right, here's the thermal Manci. I love you, dude.
Please do me a favorite. Go watch Mike Big documentaries,
and I think you get a better understanding of what happened.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
It was fault.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
That's a great point that nobody you know what I learned,
and I'll let you cook. I'll let you get your
points confirmation bias, like if I find the thing and
now I don't want to be in with like I'm
out on people are out on you and they don't
oftentimes give you the great so like he's gonna probably
be out with her period.
Speaker 5 (21:08):
We see. Please watch this documentary please and then get
back to me.
Speaker 7 (21:12):
I'm gonna call.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
Back, get back to me. Here's I gotta say about
separating the arsenal artistry, right, I think it really depends
on the level of attachment you have to an athlete
or a musician. For me, personally, the hardest person for
me that I have to grope with this on almost
on a daily basis is Kanye West. To me, I
will argue to the depths that Kanye West is the
(21:33):
greatest rapp of all time. Right, I'm literally staring at
I'm literally staring at a Kanye West rug that I
have right now. Right, But I've had to take I've
had to take heart breaks from Kanye because he said
stupid things He's done outlanda scenes and I'm a black man, Like,
I've had.
Speaker 7 (21:47):
To take heart breaks.
Speaker 5 (21:48):
From Kanye, and I've had to like take hard positive
just music. Kelvin, you brought up another person in Michael Jackson.
My mom grew up with Michael Jackson, like literally grew
up with him and Geary. I grew up listening to
his music, right, my good has nothing turned off from me?
Art Kelly, Yeah, it's tough guy, is stuffuy taking up
the library Bill Comby obviously, And if you think about sports, right,
like Deshaun Watson, I'm sure de Sean Watson lost a
(22:09):
lot of fans. Yeah, but all that stuff came out.
I think it really just depends, right, Sometimes you gotta
take breaks.
Speaker 7 (22:15):
But I mean, like the Lave cost.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
Said too, like there are hard lines, right, like Hulk
Hokin must respect for what he did for the WWE
and the WWF, but I got nothing nice to say
about the man we know where you said. I'm not
gonna have nothing to say about Donald certainly either when
he You.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Know what I'm saying, it is what it is, Okay, Hey,
he as always brother. Appreciate the call, man and great
and thanks to everybody who called and tells you if
you couldn't get in or maybe you're gonna reach in
through social media, but either way, I think it's a
great conversation because it's not easy.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
Everybody has their thing.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Some people again, like I said, completely, oh, Huck Cogan
was the guy.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
I don't care. I loved what he meant for me.
I love wrestling it.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
And then other people are like, no, I'm definitely out
on him, so uh speaking him out on somebody. Let's
get a Manti right now, who's out on Michael Vick?
And also she will at least have your updates.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Oh look, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search

Speaker 4 (23:12):
You know, as humans, we as long as you're making
your decisions, as long as you're making your decision based
off of how you feel and not everybody else feels
about it.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
Then that's what it is. I think that's the secret sauce.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Now that's a great point where I would chat, where
I would say, why you brought that up?
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Yeah? Boy, those days are gone. We wake up for
the smoke.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
That's my point, and we are ready, and we find
our echo chambers and we jump all.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
That's my point.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Who where's my crew that hates Lebron, that hates God
bless the dead Kobe, or that hates Mike, or that
hates and we jump in or loves this person love,
and we jump in and we get it's nice and
cozy over exactly we are not allowed to like hear
the other side and even politically right, that's where we've
gotten to where yes, there used to be I could
(24:02):
be this, you could be that. We might jab each
other real how, and then we can have lunch at dinner.
Move on, now, put the gloves on, maybe go bare knuckle.
Let's fight like you can't if you're on that side.
On that side, we've lost all civility or civil discourse
on how I might not like this athlete, this thing,
this person, and you know we can talk about it.
Oh those days are long, n all right? Thank you again, everybody.
(24:25):
You perfect guy to have on for this conversation. There
are reports now that out of Slovenia. By the way,
we're international with this. Okay, we ain't just love it.
It's just ain't La just California. This just ain't America. Okay,
we got plugs everywhere we connected. You got plugs everywhere, Okay,
Slovenia a Sylvinian plug. Yes, the national team there, the
(24:49):
basketball team. The reports basically that it kind of leaked
out that they expect Luca to re sign with the Lakers,
which talking to you know, I've never envisioned a day
that he wasn't. But but you never know, because he
lost out on all that money by being trade from Dallas,
so maybe he was like, hey, after this, I can
go anywhere I want to try to, you know, restart
the career if you will. But I was looking at
it like this, it's supposed to be the next four
(25:11):
years and thinking about it, well, what is success for
Luke and the Lakers in four years? What would you
gauge as successful? And for me real quick? Yep, Carrie,
uh huh, you gotta give me a ring.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Gotta get a ring.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Then I'm gonna tell you why when Magic got here?
Year one, year one boom ring. When you fast forward
some year, blah blah blah. Okay, by the time Shack
here by a year? What was that about?
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Year three? Ring? And another one Kobe and another one,
you know, exactly back to back.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
And even Kobe went Shack left, Galvin gave him a
few years three for it, back at it and another one.
You know, I mean, ohay, he got to the finals.
They would lose to the self. I mean, you're back
to the finals, so on and so over. My point
is Lebron comes here after what year two with it two?
Speaker 3 (26:09):
Didn't?
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Yeah, yeah, got in eighteen twenty twenty, got the ring.
The point is, I think for Luca four years and
he and here's the key part, he's just that good.
We've seen you drag Dallas a couple of years back
now to the finals. If they do their part, no
it's not alone. If Rob Polinka has to do his part,
(26:29):
you bring in some talent, you know, you gotta DeAndre Ayton.
We'll see if he's able to really step his game up.
You know, I don't think markus smartest part of your
long term future. But you know, but what's the next
move If Lebron's gone next year, what's the next move?
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Because that's fifty two mil.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Off the books, you know, So then maybe you go
get a really good guy that's relatively young that you
compare with Luca and go, now you got three years
with that guy and see what we can do.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Point being, I think that's realistic.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
I didn't rattle off two three because the West is
crazy exactly. Yeah, but I think that's fair with knowing
Lebron is going to be gone, knowing there's new opportunity
to bring it into another big two to go with
Luca and you know, and then filling with pieces because
you'll have some money and all that. I feel like
getting a ring would be successful for Luca. He's in
he's directly in that prime sweet spot now with a
(27:16):
chip on his shoulder. Yep, you're you're hookah doncic, you're
out of shape, You're this you got traded the team,
you'd buying a house in the city. You're closing on
the house. They say, nah, bruh, get out. Yep, this
makes sense to me. Yeah, No, you're I think you're
one hundred percent right. I mean, he has in these
next four years, he has to win one. He's already
in year eight, which is just crazy to me. I know, right, yeah,
(27:36):
it's crazy. So time was like four, like they going
into his fifth, so right, time's flying. So he's like
you said, drug a Dallas team to the Promised Land,
couldn't get it done, had some really successful teams there
where you know that he needed help, and he still
got there right in a loaded West.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
So you go to La.
Speaker 4 (27:55):
You go to a team now that actually has money
to spend, and it's going to be, like you said,
off of a big contract next year. I think, well, Lebron,
I think this is it for him. It feels that.
It feels that way. Obviously we never do, know yea, yeah,
but we feel that way, right, and so you'll be
able to assimilate some pieces.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
It's gonna be La, it's going to be Luca.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
So if they if he doesn't win one in the
next four years, it will be a failure.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
And I know I know him. I've seen him play
for eight years.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
When he's motivated and when somebody says he can't do something,
he does it. And so I'm excited to see what
he does this year. He looks good, he looks like
he's in shape. I'm I'm actually rooting for him until
he played Dallas, obviously, but all y'all are, of course
until but no, he has to win one for sure.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
You saying that now, Well, if y'all didn't get Cooper fly,
you will be still you.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
No, no, because I went to I went to Dallas
because of Dirk. I'm a dirt guy, manzi Uh, never mind,
you're a Clipper fan, rob g. You're the resident Laker here.
I'm looking around maybe Shaye as well. But point being,
say this as well, four years, what's for you as.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
A Laker fan.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
You got to get at least one yea minimum minimum
minimum one, So you're saying it should be multiple and
for you.
Speaker 8 (29:10):
Honestly, I don't think people comprom you. Guys do because
you especially carry you're you're a mass fan. I don't
think people understand how great of a start Luca Dodgess
is no career. It's like precedent all time, like the
greatest of the greatest players ever.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Honey, you might have the greatest start ever, like including Mike,
like I mean what he's been able.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
To do for the first six years of give or
take him his career.
Speaker 8 (29:36):
Absolutely his first six years Rookie of the Year, five
time First Team All.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
NBA and then what that next year goes to the finals.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
Yes, but you still can't say it's the best because
he didn't win it, right, But I'm just saying individually, Okay, nobody,
I don't think.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
I mean bird, right, you.
Speaker 8 (29:53):
Know what I mean, Like, that's crazy and for him
it's not like, you know, all respect to Magic. Magic
showed up on a team that already had the arguably
the best player in the league and added another number
one pick.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Like later.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
It was loaded jam Jamal Wilkes, Storm and Norman Nixon,
uh Kareem maculd wasn't there yet, but it's somebody like
two years later, James Worthy, its worthy Byron Scott. You
had Michael Thompson coming off the bench just absolutely load.
Speaker 8 (30:25):
And that's not what Lugo came into. And he immediately
changed the culture, immediately made them legitimate threats. Whatever you
think of how good if they could have actually wanted
or not. So his benchmark is so much higher than
than what you would consider to be a normal expectation,
like you expect more.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
It's like you talked about Lebron.
Speaker 8 (30:45):
You're like, hey, if this guy don't get at least
two or three, then there's something went horribly wrong.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
And that was part of an argument or not argument actually,
but a conversation me and Elmhamon.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
I was just saying that, well, tell you more the Clint.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
I just say, we got a good shop talk coming up. Yeah,
well I was gonna do that. We got shop talk.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
I ain't want to do that. I don't want to
disrespect the talk. Save it, save it. I'll just be
breay quick.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Robbz touched on exactly what I one of the reasons
why when we have the who's better this person? And
I say Lebron is I brought it up yesterday. I
just don't remember anyone from after about year two and
a half three is the expectations were finals, except maybe
like magic because my hates only one. To me, we're
like Kobe when he had down, like the team wasn't great.
(31:33):
You didn't have you. Oh they don't make it. They
should make it right because he's got Chris mam, splush part.
This person is not a great team Robert soakra you know,
I mean, I mean, I know they catch a straight
sitting there.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
Yeah, like what I do, right, But you get what
I mean.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
And and and Jordan his first seven years or so,
he ain't getting past the Celtic. He didn't gett pass
a pit. You didn't have that expectations like, no, he's
gonna put up numbers, they'll be fun, cute fun, but
it ain't getting chanced. Whereas Lebron, it was like, no, dog,
You're supposed to be in the finals every year. And
I was just like, wow, that's a crazy expectation. And
to Rogie's point, Luca's kind of that good where you're like, uh,
(32:07):
why you ain't in the finals? Luca, Well, my team
I know, but still why didn't have any But I know,
but still well so and so is hurt I know,
but still right. And that's that's to me one of
the separators when I start talking about you know, you
gotta we gotta, you know, thinness of hair between somebody
versus somebody.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
All right, shop talk on the way.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
We got an interesting one, Manci you're up, I'll explain
what I mean.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
Coming up. It's the couple.
Speaker 2 (32:30):

Looked at my kingdom. I was finally there. We have
to sit on the throne. That's a princip bell a.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Yeah, that's top that's top five of all time?
Speaker 3 (33:27):
Yes, her top three right, Alex Rob d Monson, that
song is so good.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
Number one, yeah, might be number one. I'm not gonna lie.
Golden Girls is up there though, I ain't gonna lie
and this is coming from me. Come on, we are
this is Rob Rob, he's breaking help. We don't have
a lot of time, but the fresh Prince one is
so good. It's so good that like even if Mike
Vick was performing an all right, it is kind of good.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
You know what I can? I might can you know,
like I m I might in West Philadelphia?
Speaker 1 (34:03):

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Ain't nobody, ain't nip being a bum shopping?
Speaker 4 (34:26):
You know that?
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Ain't nobody?
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Is you talking about whoever whatever whatever you want to
in the.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Bosph it's shop talking.
Speaker 8 (34:33):
Let's trying to shop talk here on the OD couple
say when we talk about something outside of the world
of sports.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
This week's topic.
Speaker 8 (34:38):
There's a new number one app in the United States. Oh,
it's called t I don't know if you heard of it.
It's an app designed allegedly to protect women, so that
you can go on this app and you can let
other women know, Hey, so and so is not a
good dude. So and so stiffed me on this date.
So and so is kind of abusive, which sounds good
because like, hey, women protecting women. Here's the problem, though,
(34:58):
what's the problem. It's totally anonymous, so once you're become
a verified user, you can post whatever you want. Men
are not allowed to defend themselves on this thing. And
the worst part of it is it's just like Wikipedia
in that you can post whatever you want about any
man you want, give out his personal information, and there's
nothing anyone can do to stop it. Because it's meant
(35:19):
to be a positive thing. Obviously, not everything positive ends
up being positive. So here's the question. We'll start with Mazzi,
because you're the female in the group. Do you have
a problem. Is this a good or bad app that
we have hitting number one?
Speaker 6 (35:33):
This sounds like a terrible app, a terrible decision.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Who would do this?
Speaker 3 (35:38):
Why?
Speaker 2 (35:39):
Because women?
Speaker 3 (35:41):
I'm sorry, what have we learned with the WNBA? Women
hate each other?
Speaker 6 (35:45):
And so if you can take my man, even though
he sucks, I'm gonna tell you a lie so.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
You leave them alone.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
You know it's funny, Rob G Carrie. My brain didn't
even go there to think of that. I neither.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Yeah, I'm keeping a wall hond if even if he sucks,
I'm going to prevent all of you from dealing with
his sucky ass because I don't.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Yeah, but you can't have Yeah.
Speaker 8 (36:08):
Exactly, I'm gonna destroy any chance he has.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
I just wrote down f W b W. It's like
fooboo for women by women.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
I think. I think one more b W. I think
it's a terrible idea as well.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
I think, yeah, anything that you put out most you know,
most even men women in general, men and women, we
both have personal feelings about a person and sometimes that thinking.
I know, we got a lot of time. This is
this is the hard one to talk about.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
More time. You don't want what do you do?
Speaker 2 (36:45):
No more?
Speaker 4 (36:46):
A screw Luca and talk about this and you know
this is my topic. Rob give me Anny, he don't care.
Give me two minutes. I need more minutes. Go ahead,
sound like a cell phone and I need more minutes.
I ain't got about of minutes.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
Uh, you know what it is.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
It gets dangerous because I think what we all learn
with social media is things become heightened. So I have
to one up it. I have to one up it.
I gotta say something snarky. I gotta and also interpretation.
I need see now, you see, now, you see? You
to drop a bar ah, Rob, you got anything? Because
(37:26):
I need more minutes.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
I hate it.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
It's a terrible idea. Alex Well, Alex, I know Alex
need more minutes.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
I don't got time. You need moren what MONSI said?
You know what? All right? Dang it. One minute on
the other side. Plus we gotta talk about Archie Manning.
Let's open the show next hour.
