Speaker 2 (00:28):
Rob g.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
The reports just keep coming in from Chicago about Caleb.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Yeah, nobody seems to be a fan of the former
number one. What would you call him? The generational prospect
that is Kayleb Williams. First, we had the Athletic tier
come out yesterday and he was ranked at the Tier
three quarterback. Something met him in the Tier four quarterback,
which says a lot, But all of the criticism basically
said some variation of the same thing. You had an
(00:55):
anonymous defensive coordinator says quote, in terms of processing ability
and getting the ball at his hands, it was the
worst we played against. Anonymous head coach says quote. His
processing to me was alarming watching the tape and in fact,
if you don't believe these anonymous gms and coaches, former
All Pro left tackle to Ron Armstead was at the
(01:15):
joint practice between the Dolphins and the Bears last week.
He said for yes, because he retired and he put
his name on it.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Take a listen.
Speaker 5 (01:23):
Caylorb's process playing that quarterback position has to improve fast,
and pretty fast. In my opinion, on a consistent basis,
Caleb was not able to recognize.
Speaker 6 (01:37):
Where he was in danger.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
He wasn't feeling pressure, he wasn't feeling blitzes, he wasn't
seeing blitzes and threats pre singapt Anthony Weaver, the Dolphins
defensive coordinator, was able to send guys from all different
spots on the field and man, a lot of those
got home. A lot of those would have been sacks.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
All Right, I'm just gonna I'm gonna say, I'll say
the choiet part out loud.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
This is just an anti Caleb Williams.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
They've never really liked Caleb Williams from this standpoint of
he paints his nails.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
He cried towards mom in the stands. He's a different
kind of guy. Wanted a piece of the Bears. He
didn't want to go to all the other stuff that
came out. And there are a lot of people who
just don't like the guy.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Last year, he.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Had a fine rookie season, and it's funny other people
get a chance to develop and get better. Peyton Manning
through thirty interceptions his first year. Nobody threw the toweling
on him. Nobody said he holds the ball too long,
or he doesn't know what he's doing with it, or
he can't read defenses. They allowed him to progress. And
(02:49):
last year, Kelvin, they were at least three games where
he marched his team down, gave them the go ahead touchdown,
and then the defense gave it back up. You remember,
including that hail Mary to Washington. You remember that game
he had actually taken his team down and they scored
a touchdown to go up in front, and he had
one of his dbs or safeties who was flexing to
(03:10):
the crowd when the hail Mary came in. And I'm
not saying he's a finished product or he's gonna be
the best quarterback in the league or whatever.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
I just the noise to me.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
With a new coach and a new coordinator, and people
gonna give Justin fields eight chances, right, three teams and
three Oh yeah, look at Justin fields, and here he is.
He had twenty touchdowns, six picks and too many sacks,
and they need to protect him better.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
He needs to be more aware.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
I'm not saying that he doesn't need to make some changes,
but this fire Alarmer on Caleb Williams, I think is just.
I think it's personal, to be honest.
Speaker 6 (03:51):
I'm addressed that personal a minute.
Speaker 7 (03:53):
And Rob g you're saying they're not a fan of him.
Speaker 6 (03:57):
I think the term is concerned.
Speaker 7 (03:59):
So this is gonna happen when you're the top prospect
since Andrew Love. You're the sureen, you're the one everybody
says that's the guy that can miss. You're the number
one pick, you're a Heisman Trophy winner, and these things,
these conversations are gonna happen.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
And I think he's getting some of that.
Speaker 7 (04:17):
He's getting some smoke or some added extra sauce that
people felt they should have been given to Trevor Lawrence.
So I think he's getting some. Well, I should have
been on Trevor Lawrence a little harder. Let me make
sure I'm on Kayleb Williams a little hard. But all
of this comes with when you're the number one pick,
the Heisman Trophy winner.
Speaker 6 (04:32):
And now let's add to it.
Speaker 7 (04:33):
You do have to add context if the same thing
that has been a concern for him coming out of
college into his rookie campaign, into his training camp this year.
Mind you, he's got Ben Johnson, the offensive guru. This
is why people are ringing the alarm and they're saying, hey, hey,
something they looking right When you have to have your
first teamers pulled off the field early, just something we
(04:57):
hardly ever hear happens because he wasn't getting them out
of huddle. He's been We've been hearing more and more
of reports about he can't break the huddle. Fast en up,
they got a burn timeouts, they're getting flags up from
a delay of games. These are concerns now we heard
about him. But because he was Superman of the worldly,
he was able to escape these things. He was able
to make plays happen. You look at the interceptions, they're low. Yeah,
(05:18):
because he ate a bunch of sacks. That's why you.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Don't want to go to the ball up for grabs.
Speaker 7 (05:23):
What are you just but he has he has a
little Andrew Rodgers itis and that he doesn't want to
turn it over. He's trying to make too many plays.
Aaron Rodgers was able to do that to the tune
of success. That's why he's going to be a first
ballot Hall of Famer.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
Caleb.
Speaker 7 (05:36):
The jury is still out, so Caleb Williams has to
process faster. We're hearing it from too many sources, from
his own Dagone team, in his own his own coach.
He's got to be better at getting the ball out faster.
He can no longer just rely on his talent that
has gotten them this far. And that is a fair
thing to say of a guy who we expect the
world from. Lamar Jackson. We had these concerns about Lamar Jackson.
(06:00):
Lamar Jackson came right in after a couple of years.
Is now you and I talked about this last week
or so. Now he's one of the best passers in
the NBA, gets the ball out, doesn't get sacked. And
in the NFL, I'm sorry, it has the most passes
down the field and yards per pass.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Well, but that's just that's the lesson.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
That's the lesson is you can't pass judgment on people
so quickly, but you give Justin Herbert and he's a
top five quarterback he had.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
For whatever reason.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
It's okay, justin Herbert or or who do or Lawrence
down in Jacksonville. No one's crying, oh my god, he
got the big contract.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
He's all this. He got, you know, a contract and
all that. My point is.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
There is a little extra sauce because he's not conventional.
He's not the guy that that maybe people you know
what I mean, want to rally around because he's different
a little bit. And I'm saying that that factors in.
That's all I'm saying. He's not above criticism. That's not
what I'm saying. I think he gets extra for some
other stuff.
Speaker 7 (07:02):
I think he gets extra because the same problem has
applied for the same few years from college to his
first campaign and then this training camp.
Speaker 6 (07:11):
You're supposed to be better by now, and I think why.
Speaker 7 (07:14):
But you're saying it's personal, And I don't see how
you don't you think it's personal? What should do when
this dude is the number one pick a Heisman winner.
Speaker 6 (07:22):
Of course it's gonna be for people.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
What's the personal?
Speaker 7 (07:26):
What I'm saying is, I'm saying it's if it's for Caleb.
To me, it's warranted. He's supposed to be that guy.
This is supposed to be the all.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
What a new coach and a new everything new from
last year.
Speaker 7 (07:38):
I just yes, because you can't go five for seventeen
with three interceptions and a family fest last week.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
You can't do that. This is a layup. This is
just a promo for the fans.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
That that's that's nothing, that none of these games matter.
The Lions win four to o and then owen sixteen
in the scene.
Speaker 7 (07:53):
No, nobody said you can't look horrible. You can't go
five for seventeen three.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
You think people don't have bad You think you think
great players haven't had bad training camp game, I mean
preseason games.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
So what you're saying this.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
Wasn't even a game. He didn't even play in the game.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Of course you should he should play.
Speaker 6 (08:10):
He didn't even play in the game.
Speaker 7 (08:11):
Rob These are shorts and T shirts and he's out
here looking like me if I went to go.
Speaker 6 (08:15):
Be a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
That's so, I just think it's overblown, all right, you
you think it's warranted.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
I think it's over blest.
Speaker 7 (08:22):
Nobody's saying he's about to be the worst play, But
it's warranted. He deserves some concern and criticism, and.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
I just think they need somebody to be a whipping boy,
and he just happens to be that guy.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

Speaker 4 (09:06):
Listen to the Tony fosc Show on the iHeartRadio app
or wherever you get your podcast.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
He's still moving.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Let's go to the Los Angeles Dodgers and where they are,
which is not good.
Speaker 6 (09:20):
I ain't lying about that.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
People thought they were going to be the Beatles and
there was gonna be a runaway season, and they spent
another billion dollars in the offseason and they got all
these players and made trades and all the other stuff
that said they're going back to the World Series. Look
at the team, it's not fair. Do you remember fans
were saying it wasn't fair. And now here we are
(09:42):
almost in all I mean almost in September, a few
weeks away. Dodgers only have a one game lead against
the Padres, and so they're disappointing. I mean that's hard.
I know they're in first place. But if you don't
think the Dodgers have had a disappointing season, I'm not
sure you've been following because you hasn't been fun. Mookie
Betts is batting two forty like, it's just it doesn't
(10:05):
feel right. Would you say that just doesn't feel right?
Speaker 6 (10:09):
Oh, the Dodgers have definitely been on the struggle bus.
That's without a doubt.
Speaker 7 (10:12):
I mean you look at Rob You look at the
lead they had in their division, and this is the
division where you thought, all right, they should You kind
of thought where we are now is where we might
be throughout the season. But then they got up ballooned
up to him like an eight and a half lead
against the Padres. You kind of thought the Padres would
be out of it, and it'd be the Dodgers to
run away with and that was not the case. And
the Dodgers have found ways to be in the slump.
(10:36):
Their bats went cold, then it was the pitching, then
it was the injuries.
Speaker 6 (10:40):
And now it's so bad.
Speaker 7 (10:42):
My main man, Mookie, like, do the right thing, my
main man, Mookie. You got the crowd of cheering for
him just because he walked up to the plate, rob
trying to get him into it. It's it's so unique
to where they are right now. They're in a position
that they haven't quite been in, and the expectations were high.
They're on pace to win only ninety two games, which
(11:03):
are other teams will be remarsible.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Way under what That's what absolutely people were thinking that
this team was gonna set the all time winsrecker.
Speaker 7 (11:11):
And this is why we continue to tell people, yes,
you can have maybe some type of salary minimum in
baseball where hey, because you have the Dodgers, the Mets,
the Yankees, handful of the teams spending crazy money. Then
you have the Marlins, the Rays, these other teams. Though,
that don't mean you're gonna win anything. Because the Dodgers
(11:31):
are struggling right now. The Yankees and Dodgers hadn't met
each other in the World Series since eighty one prior
to last year, so just could just spend as much
money didn't guarantee anything. And neither of the teams have
been runaways, including the Mets. Somebody has been runaways, so
money doesn't necessarily mean anything. And the Dodgers are struggling
in multiple ways right now, and it's and it's been
(11:52):
rough for them, and even Dave Roberts is like, Yo,
it's gotta be a sense of urgency, And you would think, well,
what the heck, why gonna tell you that?
Speaker 6 (11:59):
Don't you know?
Speaker 2 (12:01):
The arm to this?
Speaker 1 (12:03):
And I'm serious is I know a lot of people
just think, Ohtani should be the MVP every year, but
I'm here to tell you their struggles and his numbers.
I don't think it should be automatic. And let me
just give you some examples. Okay, from last year to
this year. And we know last year was a record
setting kind of year. His war was nine point two
(12:24):
last year. You know what it is this year five
point three. That would be the lowest since two thousand
and two. So it's just five point three. He had
one hundred and thirty. RBIs led the National League. He
has seventy eight. Sure, he's got the forty two home runs,
(12:45):
had fifty nine stolen bases, only had seventeen this year.
I'm just looking at these numbers, and other than run scored,
he leads a league in run scored and played appearances.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
He's a leadoff hitter, you know what I mean. So
he gets a lot of at bats or whatever, but
that's it. And I think that the Dodger's struggling and
looking at his numbers and what he's been able to do.
And the other thing too is his batting average, which
is up to two eighty four. It was a couple
of weeks ago or ten days ago it was two
(13:21):
sixty eight. I mean, it hasn't been nearly what we
saw a year ago. And here's the other thing. Seventy
eight RBIs on forty two home runs. That ain't on him, though,
yes it is. That means he's not getting any other
hits when people he's not only you gotta remember he's
not only coming up to bat as a leadoff, right,
(13:44):
you only come up to the lead off. There's other
times when other people are on bas It's not just.
Speaker 6 (13:48):
You've been watching them Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Yes, come on, we could take a look at it
and see where he is with runners and scoring position
and other things. It's not you can't just look at
RBIs and say that nobody's on base because he batted
leadoff last year and he had one hundred and thirty.
It's been a huge drop off and most of his
home runs have been so low. Home runs this year,
that's all I'm saying. Seventy eight RBIs on forty two
(14:11):
home runs is small.
Speaker 7 (14:13):
Yeah, you want something, and by now at that point
you won in the nineties, you just want some nineties.
I agree with that, and he would agree with that
if he was sitting right next to us. I think
a couple things here. There's no debating this year is
not last year for him, especially when you factor in
the stolen bases fifty plus last year for him, but
on the flip side, instead of stealing all of those
(14:34):
bases like he had done last year.
Speaker 6 (14:37):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (14:37):
Maybe he's now a starting pitcher, so I mean, that's
what makes him so remarkable is that you did list
the offensive numbers that are slightly down. Without a doubt
the facts are the facts. But the man is pitching now,
getting up to the four innings now, and we know
in October he's gonna legitimately be a starter in the
postseason for them. So to me, that is why he's
(15:00):
so special and why he's so unique is you would
hope to see him get to this point, and now
he's here where he is pitching, he's starting and becoming
a guy that you can lean on and depend on. Oh,
by the way, he also has forty some out home
runs as forty two home runs as well.
Speaker 6 (15:13):
So here here's the thing, too, Rob.
Speaker 7 (15:17):
We've seen this with Steph Curry, Jo Kich, Brett Favre
and even Aaron Judge, where just because your numbers go down,
or your teams maybe lose more games or something, doesn't
mean you still can't be the MVP the next year.
Speaker 6 (15:35):
It happens. It's that you're the metrics or the dot.
Speaker 7 (15:40):
The dominance by you is so high that instead of
you being a ten out of ten, maybe you're nine
point five. And the other problem is if ain't nobody
else at ten who's gonna beat him, Kyle Schwarber is
the only candidate, and he's not in the case to
beat him right now.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Well, but the only problem with that is he's not
leading in anything other than I told you played, appearances,
home runs. He has the forty two, and but the
other numbers that he dominated, I'm saying, that's what I'm
looking at, and I'm looking at his team because you
expect the Dodgers to be better. Would you agree with that?
(16:15):
And has it madeletter? But that's what I'm saying. You
got this guy who's all world and even the pitching numbers.
While he's pitching now, he's not winning games. He's it's
not like he I know most people want to give
him the MVP because he does both and nobody else
is doing that. I get that, but I just don't
think that it's been the same year and it's been
(16:37):
a big drop off from a year ago. That's all
I'm saying. It just doesn't he doesn't feel like the
MVP to me.
Speaker 6 (16:43):
Well, I just don't see.
Speaker 7 (16:44):
I think for me, I'm not necessarily upset with some
of your thought processing. But my issue is it has
to be a clear cut guy because he can't not
give them an MVP just because his numbers are down
from last year. Somebody's got alls run away with it
as well, And that's part about it if you're him
or anybody else in baseball, Baseball like the sport where
you your team has to be great.
Speaker 6 (17:06):
We have team. We have seen guys who teams weren't
that great.
Speaker 7 (17:10):
You got Bryce Harper winning despite you know, they were
second in their division and didn't even make the playoffs
in twenty twenty one. Mike Trout knee, we discress him
winning em me P's and his team not being great.
So I mean, baseball is the sport where you can
be the best. Yeah, but I don't know if your
team doesn't have to be amazing, I.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Agree, But I don't think that those teams had the
expectations that the Dodgers have had.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Would you get that?
Speaker 1 (17:33):
That's what I'm saying, Like in looking at this, there's
no way you feel good if you're a Dodgers fan
right now about what.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
You've seen this year.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
I get what you're saying, you know what I mean?
Like with Mike Trout, nobody was expecting anything. With the Angels,
his numbers were just so good the War. Think about
the War, because that's the big one he led last
year with a nine point two right the league nine
point two, he has a five point three.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Would you say that's a considerable drop off.
Speaker 6 (18:05):
That's a drop off.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
That's a considerable drop off.
Speaker 7 (18:08):
The only my main other point would be someone else
has to steal this from me, and no one else
is jumping out. Kyle Schubert's doing his thing forty two
home runs for himself. I see what he's doing, and
I like it. But but there's no one running away
with this thing. And that's the other problem to me
is okay, fine, I'm slightly down if I'm sure heil tany,
(18:30):
but ain't nobody stealing it from me? And therein lies
the challenge somebody, you get what I'm saying. Somebody has
to take it from him. Otherwise, he's a reigning MVP
and his numbers are comparable, if not better than the
other candidates.
Speaker 6 (18:42):
So I just think it's and not to mention he's still.
Speaker 7 (18:45):
Leading the division now, granted it ain't a big league.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Is what if they don't What if they become a
wild card team and he winds up batting two seventy five.
I mean, there's a lot of stuff, and we've seen
his batting average dimp and he doesn't get to one
hundred RBIs, Is he really the MVP? Seriously, seventy eight RBIs.
Speaker 6 (19:06):
That Well, he's still got a change. No, but.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
You under one hundred RBIs and his wars at five
instead of nine, that's a that's a huge drop off.
Speaker 7 (19:18):
I think for me, the biggest thing, Rob is you're
not bringing up the fact that he's been pitching and
he has been had to become one of the reliable
pitchers for the Dodgers because of all the injuries throughout
the season.
Speaker 6 (19:30):
That's a massive But he.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Doesn't have any pitching that's to be crazy about, is.
Speaker 6 (19:33):
What I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (19:35):
People are watching him pitch and they're saying, this dude
is doing all of this forty two home runs and
he's still out here pitching as well. Like, this is
what we signed up for, whether you're if you're the Dodgers,
this is when you signed him and gave him three
quarters of a billion dollars almost, this is what you
were waiting for.
Speaker 6 (19:51):
This is what baseball was waiting for it to have
this female.
Speaker 7 (19:54):
This is what fans were waiting for, specifically Dodger fans,
and you're actually getting to see it, and he's doing
it at high level to the tune of again, the
expectations are him to be a start in the postseason,
why then hurrying up and taking off his stuff to
go to swing a back the next bat or batter
or two, depending on where he ends up in the lineup.
So that's incredible, and we're actually finally seeing it playoff.
(20:14):
We're not hypothetically seeing it. We're seeing it with our
own eyes now.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
But he hasn't won any games. He's pitched fifteen innings.
I mean, like there's nothing there, you know what I mean,
Like if he would have wanted him won Nike his
first four I know, he's only baby steps, but he
hasn't won anything. He al rays two point four zero,
which is fine, you know, but he hasn't won a games.
Speaker 6 (20:36):
But that's you can't just roll past that. Two point
four to one is incredible for god.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
It also that's all that's only in fifteen innings. It's
just not a lot of pitching.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
You know.
Speaker 7 (20:45):
I wish I have my What more do you want
from me? The man is coming back from injury. The
Man is coming back from a World Series title. Fifty
on runs plus fifty plus stolen bases.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
Now I'm pitching? What more do you want from me?
Speaker 3 (20:59):
Be sure to catch five editions of The Odd Couple

Speaker 3 (21:20):

mlbdbro dot com, here's JR.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Gamble, that's right, it is fouler fair.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Here on the Our Couple on Fox Sports Radio, a
segment we go around and I haven't discussed all the
biggest headlines.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
At Major League Baseball, nor do so properly.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
We had a brig bringing a guy who did some
real big last week, dropped off his kid in college,
real Roman type stuff.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
None of ther.
Speaker 9 (21:47):
Gamble, what's up? What's up? Drafted offing Tuesdays?
Speaker 2 (21:53):
You mean he dropped off my godson.
Speaker 6 (21:55):
Let's get it right, Rob g Oh snaps.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Now I got mentees and God.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
I'm gonna say, Rob, how many god kids you got to?
Speaker 2 (22:03):
How many do I have? Four?
Speaker 9 (22:05):
If they're out there, they're related to Robins.
Speaker 7 (22:08):
Some way, somehow, JR. You don't understand. I can't go nowhere.
I'm thinking, I'm just like having a casual conversation at
the coffee shop next thing.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
I know.
Speaker 7 (22:16):
Yeah, man, I was wondering if you could like maybe
help me out a little bit. Rob's one of my
mentors too. My gosh, how many are there?
Speaker 2 (22:24):
I'm sorry?
Speaker 6 (22:25):
I agree though.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
All right, guys, I got three baseball stories, and because JR.
Is the star of the segment, he gets the first
crack at every single one.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
So let's get to it JR.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
Entering Monday, the Mets and Yankees were a combined thirty
eight and sixty two since June thirteenth. As a result,
both teams as of now currently find themselves on the
outside looking in with regards to the MLB playoff race.
Easy question for you. Foul or fair to say both
New York teams will wind up missing the postseason?
Speaker 2 (22:59):
That is a foul ball.
Speaker 9 (23:01):
Mean, Despite the skids, both teams are still in contention
for the division with both they're just six games behind
and not having to jump over a lot of teams.
You know, just you know, get a nice little run.
You see how fast things can change week the week
in baseball, As much as fans complain, you know, I
would say they're both a lock for one of those
(23:22):
twelve playoff spots. I mean, my goodness, and both are
clearly among the top ten to twelve teams in all
of baseball. The New York fans are always panicking with
the situation twice as good as say, like the Athletics,
to the White Docs of the Orioles and any number
of teams. Swoper Tars haven't really stepped up for the
Messling Doors been off of them late, Lagos inconsistent, Cedric
(23:43):
Mullins has just you know, started getting his groove on yet.
So and the Yankee just need to run off some wins.
So come on, foul.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
I'm gonna say foul.
Speaker 6 (23:54):
That is foul ball.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
They're right there for wild Car. You have seven teams
that make the playoffs in each league. They're going to
make the playoffs. It's about getting in.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
I think they're not way out of the playoff hunt there.
They might be right there or right one game below,
but they're definitely within striking right.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
There's seven weeks left to the baseball season. Plenty of times.
Speaker 6 (24:18):
Yeah, Foo, I'm gonna tell you what it is a
foul ball.
Speaker 7 (24:21):
We had to start of the show, or at least
one of our conversations about the Padres how they caught
up with the Dodgers. So having only been six games
behind sounds crazy, but you know, give it a bad
week and a half, they could be right back in
this thing. And as you mentioned, depending on if you
look atpack, for instance, the Mets, I mean there's not
there's still hope within the even outside of the own division,
just in the league as a whole sneaker in their card, right, yeah, wildcard.
(24:43):
So I'm looking at it as one of them for
sure should get in. Uh maybe both, but it's so
it's absolutely foul to think that they're both out of it.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
All right, that question was too easy, apparently, all right,
Number two Jr. Last night, the Milwaukee Brewers became just
the tenth team since nineteen sixty nine to have at
least two separate ten game winning streaks. In fact, the
Brewers currently have the best record in baseball. They're an
obscene forty nine and sixteen since May twenty five.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Obvious question for you, foul or fair to.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Say the brew crew should be the favorite to represent
the n AL in the World Series.
Speaker 9 (25:19):
Srey Milwaukee, No WAYJJ.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Found that is a foul ball.
Speaker 9 (25:25):
I mean it's like a trick question because seventy four wins, right,
it's a lot of wins, but no one in the
AL has even reached seventy as of right now. So yeah,
that's a lot of wins. But unfortunately the Brewke crew
has been here before, right, Like, they're traditionally a strong
regular season team always to me, but ultimately they lack
the star power to defeat the Juggernaw teams. They always
(25:47):
have these like nice and you know, group of solid
players and with good pitching. But they won't be any
single wether stories this season. Fellers like robbing you out
season Cooper, Paul Maler of Princefielder, none of them walking
through the So they're not beaten the Dodgers, and I
think the Padres would make quick work of them.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Yeah, I'm gonna say foul as well. That is a
just the history.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
They're eleven and thirteen in their last twenty four playoff games,
and they've had great seasons. They've been good, Calvin for
the last four or five years, they've been good.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
If you go look at their regular.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Seasons and they always wind up choking it down in
the postseason. So they're one of those teams they should
be for Missouri. You gotta show me, you know before
I believe in the Brewers.
Speaker 6 (26:34):
Yeah, I think it's foul. That is. I mentioned this
to you, Rob and Rob G.
Speaker 7 (26:41):
That's one of those teams that, for some reason the
Dodgers have just struggled with. So I do think they'll
have They're probably like looking at the chops like, man,
you know, we would actually.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Want to say they've owned the Dodgers this year.
Speaker 7 (26:52):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. So they're probably just I'm
saying that more so for JR. They may be one
of those teams to say, actually bring on the Dodger
for some reason, if it's their speed. But they've been
able to play well against the Dodgers. But no, because
it's a long postseason, right, things happen, you gotta remain hot,
things have to fall Roden play. So for them to
be the favorites, I absolutely take its file for them
(27:14):
to be the favorites. Could they make a surprise team
and make some noise, possibly, but favorites that's foul.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Yeah, Brewers all over the Dodgers like Otani on Hawaiian
real estate investors. All right lost one Fowler Fair Jr.
Gamble sitting in with the I couple this one to
get out. The Seattle Mariners retired eachhir those number fifty
one jersey over the weekend, which normally would not be
too big of a deal because he's a Hall of Famer,
until you realize that they also plan to retire Randy
(27:40):
Johnson's number fifty one jersey next season. That's right, Seattle
will retire the same number fifty one twice in consecutive years.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Here, it is fowler fair to say now that each.
Speaker 4 (27:53):
Ye Roads fifty one is officially retired, the Mariners should
not and ot retire the big units fifty one.
Speaker 6 (28:03):
Fam That is a fallI ball.
Speaker 9 (28:06):
Let me at this question. Randy Johnson is that guy right?
Three hundred and three wins, second to No. One Ryan
Old Tom and strikeout. But this jersey should have been
retired well before each rose in my opinions, he did
discuss the situation with Johnson got his blessing, but the
strange situation. But I don't see why you can't do it.
In fact, fellas they should erect the statue with Johnson
(28:28):
outside t Mobile Park. Because if WNBA legends Sue Berg
can get a statue, they come on. Think about it
at five days two Burg getting a statue of Kelvin
erected outside of Climate Pleasureena, the whole city's in a
given move. In Seattle, you get a jersey retired, you
get a statue two pleasure with the same number consecutive seasons.
That fits the theme right now. Everybody's getting something in Seattle.
Speaker 6 (28:53):
Yeah, you'll get a statue.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Go ahead, gud Kelvin, you got.
Speaker 6 (28:59):
It's fun.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
I didn't say foul ball.
Speaker 7 (29:02):
We've got other examples of this, retired number eight for
both catchers, Bill Dickey and Yogi Vera. We got the
number thirty one for Greg maddox and Fergie Jenkins, so on.
You got fifteen for Dick McGuire and Earl Monroe with
the Knicks. I mean, we have other examples of this
where this has happened. Now, that's a great point you
bring up about should they have done it earlier for
Randy Johnson, which also makes it interesting, what the uh
(29:25):
what the Nuggets are gonna do with that fifteen with
Yokichin Carmelo at some point maybe that'll be a interesting
one as well.
Speaker 6 (29:31):
But yeah, so I think it's file. We've had this
happen before.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
I'm gonna say fair. It's all.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
First of all, who's the equipment mined? You giving out numbers?
When when Randy Johnson or somebody was great, you.
Speaker 6 (29:46):
Know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Whereing that? Why would you give that number out again?
Speaker 1 (29:49):
It wasn't like you didn't know what Randy Johnson did
or whatever before he showed up.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
It's just weird. I would have been like I see
them give out numbers all the time.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
It would be like, you know, like I think you
should that should be on the team to look at
somebody and go, you know what, one day, that guy's
going to have his number retired.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
We shouldn't give it out again. That's what I say.
Speaker 7 (30:08):
It is strange. No, that is really strange. Like it
wasn't like, ain't it good? He was really good? He
was really good? Like duh, And it's weird. The same
thing happened again with Carmelo. Like nobody said Carmelo like
is you know, top five ever in the NBA ever?
But I'm saying for the Nuggets, he's one of your
best players ever.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
You know you're gonna retire it? Watch you just give
it up? Do you know about Carmelo? To be honest,
did you were you sure? You know what I mean?
Like in his case, I get where he fit in,
but but did you.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Know they didn't win anything when he was there? Do
you know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (30:40):
Like it was but he was insane about the top
two three player for like eight years.
Speaker 9 (30:45):
I don't know they're going to retire the number. I
guess they don't want. None of those guys are gonna
change the number, you know
Speaker 2 (30:51):
So all right, all right, appreciate you, bro,
