He's the managing editor. Of mlbbro dot com because you
need to know that's right. You need to know for sure.
And of course last call as well your chance if
you weren't able to get in, you'll have a chance
to call in later on in the end of the
program and be the last caller to call in. And
(01:38):
don't forget to make sure that you turn down your
radio when you do call in.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
Because except for one thing, you forgot to turn down
the radio.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Make sure you do that.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Okay, what gave me the origin of that? I mean,
I know the literal came from the show, but I
mean what made you think of it?
Speaker 6 (01:52):
Is what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
What made me think of it?
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah, Like we've been doing the show now, which is crazy,
almost a year.
Speaker 6 (01:59):
Where did it come from?
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Now?
Speaker 6 (02:02):
They may just say, oh, I remember that.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
I don't know somebody Alex you might remember. I think
somebody called up and had a bad where they had
you know, it was something where the phone where they
had you could hear him in the background.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
It was really bad. It's very instantaneous.
Speaker 7 (02:16):
We just had a random caller for whatever subject matter was,
and Rob just instantly was like, you need to turn
your radio down.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
He's like Alex, it's you remember that.
Speaker 8 (02:23):
Perry Mason was like, I don't know you made the correlation,
but that's what it was.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
It was something like that where where I told him
you need to turn your radio down, and then I
was like, Alex, it was a Perry Mason episode where
he says that, ye, and it's just fits so as
you know that people always do that. You used to
do music radio people and they want to hear themselves
on the radio, like no, no, no, no, turn your
(02:47):
radio down.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
You'll hear it the delay.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Right, But come on, now, you're messing us. You're messing
up the show. And you know, we want to make
sure we get you on, but you're messing it up.
Speaker 6 (02:56):
But I heard it.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
I was like, where did that come from? So all right, goodpool,
good pool, shout to Perry Mason.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Raymond Burr, the Canadian actor who portrayed him and then
did Ironside after that, Do you remember that.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Will Drew?
Speaker 1 (03:10):
You know, I remember it more recently because my dappo ganger,
Blair Underwood started that. They try to redo it and
it only went about three episodes.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
But that's neither here nor there, right, But in that
one people really thought Raymond Burr was paralyzed because it's
like he's an actor.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
That's a compliment. He acted so good.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
They're like, you know what I mean, like just like
come on, like you know.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
What that happened to me?
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Circa nineteen ninety three, What's Eating Gilbert Great? Anybody remember that,
Alex rob G? What's is Steve de Seger? What's Eating
Gilbert Great? Was a movie and Leonardo DiCaprio played a
brother who had some mental disabilities and some challenges, and
I thought it was the first time ever seen it.
I thought he actually really had those challenges. Then I
(03:55):
find out like, oh no, that's just this great young
actor named Leo.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
So it happened. Sometimes when they play so well, you
think they're really like, you know whatever, the character.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
May be right, Oh wayman Burr's in a wheelchair. No, no, no,
it's just a character.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
So he should have just went it wrong with it
and it stood up one day, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
A lot people would have.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Falled out, all right, Well, today we had some false news,
rob G, can you tell us what the false news was?
On social media? It was so false that Odell Beckham
Junior had to respond to it.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Yes, that's right.
Speaker 7 (04:25):
As it's been known to happen, we had a fake
Adam Schefter put out a tweet that went viral suggesting
that Odell Beckham, junior former Giants wide receiver would be
retiring from the NFL.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
I already thought he was retalking.
Speaker 7 (04:39):
The only problem is that number one, he's not actually retired.
Number two that wasn't the real Adam Schefter.
Speaker 6 (04:43):
Number three.
Speaker 7 (04:44):
OBJ saw the tweet and put out his own series
of tweets to shoot it down, saying, quote, not done yet.
Thanks for the concerns, have a blessed day. Seriously, please
stop reading everything on the internet. Stop texting me happy
retirement before you piss me off. That will get no response.
And then they said he would I promise you the
day I'm done, I'll let you know again. If you
text me happy retirement, I'm just gonna have to block you.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Thanks.
Speaker 6 (05:07):
But he did get us thinking.
Speaker 7 (05:08):
Yes, it did get us thinking, because, as you mentioned, Rob,
people might not even realize that OBJ is still in
the league. And that's because his last season in the NFL,
which was last year, he missed the start of the
season while he recovering from an injury and also for
personal reasons, whatever that is, with Miami, and then he
was cut on December thirteenth, unceremoniously, and basically I think
(05:30):
only he finished with about fifty.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Yards or so last year with mi. Ow I'm in
and he's not with anybody right He's not with anybody
right now. He's currently a free agent.
Speaker 7 (05:39):
In fact, he has failed to eclipse fifty catches or
six hundred receiving yards in each of his last four
seasons being played. This after starting out like Gangbusters in
New York, where through his first five seasons averaged about
seventy two catches, eleven hundred receiving yards and nine touchdowns
(06:01):
a season.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
I'm gonna say this that when it does happen and
he officially retired, I think the league has retired him
because nobody has offered a job like the league has
retired him, even though he's claiming he's not retired. And
my point is, when you think about Odell Beckham Junior,
there's only one thing you could think of. To me.
I know people might think about them being on that boat.
(06:23):
You remember there were the teams on the boat before
the playoff game, and of course they got waxed so
they went back to that, but I think it's that catch.
Was that against the Cowboys or the Eagles on Sunday
night football? Who was that against Cowboys?
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Right?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Everybody was watching it was a Sunday night football game.
And I remember very vividly the catch he made because
me and Chris Collinsworth, who was not in my living
room with me, but was doing the game from wherever
that game was, and we both said at the same
exact time, I think that's the greatest catch I ever saw.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
Right, like that was it?
Speaker 3 (07:00):
That's what everybody kind of And then Sports Illustrated went
out and did a story about these sticky gloves. You
know there used to be stick them where people used
to put their hands in google so they couldn't fumble
and whatnot.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Remember that.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
And then they threw the football to some high school
kids they couldn't catch, and then they gave them the
gloves and they couldn't miss anything. Like it was like
you want to talking about night and day. These were
high school kids that Sports Illustrated did this thing.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
After that.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
To me, Odell Beckham Junior and that catch were dead
to me, like like I just dead, like it didn't matter.
It never happened. I can't look at him like like
you can't give him credit. He caught one of the
great nope, nope, the stickham gloves, the sticky gloves or
whatever you want to call it. I just after knowing
(07:54):
because I didn't know that they had those gloves.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
You know what I'm saying? Like that changed everything.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
And then Rob G's said something earlier, say it again
about oh how many times he says, I've seen that
catch ten times?
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Now? You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Like that those unbelievable And that's why to me it
doesn't have the same feel where you on his legacy
and that does that catch still resonate with you?
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Yes, it still resonates because, like you said, for those
of us who lived in real time, we all went oh,
like in real time we were blown away by So
I'm not gonna let that go away. And it was
spectacular because also everybody gets to wear the gloves.
Speaker 6 (08:30):
Not everybody's making that catch.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Now we've seen something similar multiple times now, but at
that point in time, that was one of the greatest
catches we've ever seen.
Speaker 6 (08:37):
So he is fifty cent. Odell Beckham Junior is fifty cent.
Both played in New York and his case played their
fifties from New York where he's you know it made
his music debut and blew up on the scene. Here's
what I mean.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Both came came out like game Busters. Fifty drops, Get Richard,
I Trying. It takes the world.
Speaker 6 (08:59):
By we can find Me in the club, pall for
but it's it's everywhere.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Number one song records goes crazy. Eminem Co signed It's
just crazy, and that was Odell Beckham Junior. It comes
out not only as he had to. Look he's got
the hair, he's got the catch. He's doing amazing catches
and making you know, twelve touchdowns rookie season. He's all
pro boom next year. You thought that was good, I'll
(09:25):
even one up you. He gets fourteen hundred and fifty
yards and then he has a thirteen touchdown. You're like, man,
this dude is about to be Remember when he started
talking about if he does it again, this will be
too much. Bam does it again and now he's looking
like he could be Jerry Rice And that was fifty
cent comes out Gangbuster, Get Richard I Try, and he's
got the story been shot nine times on back and
(09:48):
then he drops Massacre, another CD with a bunch of hits,
and then fifty just kind of starts fading away. You
don't really hear from a music lee and that's Odell
Beckham Junior. He just started fading away, whether it be injuries,
whether it be drama in Cleveland, whether it be just
not personal reasons. And then fifty cent music wise, to
(10:09):
this day he'll say he ain't retired, but bru, we
retired you. Musically, Now, fifty cent has become known for
all the shows.
Speaker 6 (10:18):
He pretty much owned stars.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
He has all the shows BMF and Power and all
that good stuff and redefined and recreated himself as a
huge TV exec Oda Beckham Junior became pop culture pheenom.
We know him more for that for them being a
football player, and to your point, we all thought he
was retired. So he reminds me of the fifty cent
came in with a boom, had the game on lock.
Everybody loves you. You're the hottest thing smoking for a
(10:42):
handful of years, and then we just didn't really hear
from you. And again, fifty I'm talking more musically obviously
as an executive and beefs and drama, we still heard
from him, but specifically musically.
Speaker 6 (10:52):
So that's Odell Beckham Junior Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Pace was on there, clearly one of the best receiving talents,
but ultimately get there. But to his credit, he got
with the Rams, got a super Bowl title. But it's
it's it's it's okay to call it a career. It's okay, all.
Speaker 6 (11:08):
Right, come on, come on home, broh, come on home.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
But to me, it's empty. It's an empty career. Like
you talked about it, other than the early part with
the Giants and whatnot, and even just the one signature
thing that he has, you don't there's no way you
could feel the same.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
Way about it.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
That's that's what hurts is that if he's still if
he had that catch, and you know, he's got a
super Bowl on there, if he didn't get hurt in
that super Bowl, maybe because remember he was having a
good first half and then he was he was you
know what I mean, If you had those things going,
then you would maybe think differently of him. But but
the catch to me, doesn't resonate. Maybe I'm wrong you
(11:46):
say it still resonates with you.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Oh yeah, I think because it's one of those I
remember where I was things, Rob, I think.
Speaker 6 (11:51):
I don't too.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
But once I found out that the gloves did all
the work, it just didn't feel the same to me.
Speaker 6 (11:57):
Now that catch was crazy.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
That and every sometimes you can strike while what different?
Look what's the difference though with if? Does it feel
the same if you have the gloves on a no glove?
I'm just saying, well, I think that's the reason why
people run around here to a bunch of babies.
Speaker 6 (12:13):
I think that's why. What what are you? What are
you talking about? Mind your business?
Speaker 3 (12:20):
I'm talking about gloves or no gloves?
Speaker 6 (12:24):
What is this?
Speaker 1 (12:24):
O ja?
Speaker 4 (12:27):
Oh my god?
Speaker 6 (12:28):
See here we go. What we're doing six years or not? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (12:33):
I think spectacular catch, spectacular handful of seasons, but you know,
not a Hall of Famer. Go ahead and uh, you know,
start getting those TV and radio hits in or whatever
else he would like to do. Because I think Rob,
ultimately he knows he's retired. I think he wanted to
be the one to announce said retirement, not some fake
account and have us all say. I think he wants
to announce it in his own way. But to rinding
(12:55):
me out, came out gangbuster like fifty.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Eight ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine, nine,
six sixty three sixty nine. If he never plays in
the NFL again, which is a very good chance. What
is Odell Beckham Junior's legacy? Where are you on that catch?
All right, we'll continue that conversation next with you. It
is The Odd Couple on a trash Talking Tuesday, Rob Parker,
(13:21):

I'm here to ask you please don't listen to the show.
The hosts are two absolute morons who have the dumbest
takes on sports magical. Don't listen to the show so
it can get camps.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
He's still moving.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
We are the odd couple Rod Parker kelvin Washington on
the Trash Talking Tuesday.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
For over forty years, tire rack has been helping customers
find the right tires for how, what and where they
drive shit fast and freeback by free Road has a
protection with convenient insulation options like mobile tire Insulation tire
rack dot com it is the way tire bind should
be on the way. In about seven eight minutes, we
got file or Fair with JR. Gamble mlbbro dot com
(14:48):
managing editor, looking forward to doing some baseball talk with
him in just a little bit. We're talking about Odell
Beckham Junior, who is officially letting everybody know he's not retired.
Speaker 6 (14:58):
Yes he is, he just hasn't a actually said it.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Robin, I agree he might as well be. But what
was his career? Kind of like a shooting star comment.
You saw it was bright, then it went away. I said,
it was like fifty cent white hot, the smoking thing
for about three years and then it's just kind of
faded away, and Rob just said the same thing. It
was there, but now it's not. Eight seven, seven ninety nine.
On Fox, how do you describe Odell Beckham Junior's career?
(15:23):
Robin takes and calls that we.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Got Andre in Massachusetts. You're on the on couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, dray, Hey, how you doing?
Speaker 10 (15:32):
Thanks for taking the call.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
Listen.
Speaker 10 (15:33):
In terms of Odell Beckham, to me, he's a comment
streaking across the sky. You know, his highlight plays, you know,
transcendent plays are certainly there. One in college flashy, but
in totality of his career, you know, he's more of
a skilled player and All Pro player. He's not in
the Hall of Fame conversation. He's someone who had he
focused completely on football, you might put him there. But
(15:56):
I go back even earlier on in his career. He's
on a boat, hanging out already in you know, kind
of doing his own thing, as Kelvin said, more known
for the social media viral moments, right then the consistent
excellence on the football field. So that's where where where
I think he is. You know, he's talented, you know,
he's one of these guys at this point in his career,
he's kind of a higher gun for a team that's
(16:19):
trying to win, to see if we can.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
Kind of.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Yeah, I mean at this point, Drey, let me ask
you though about the catch though, not with the gloves,
because at the time I didn't know about the gloves
and then you know, then I found out about the gloves.
Does that change that catch for you at all?
Speaker 5 (16:37):
Completely?
Speaker 10 (16:37):
I didn't know about all the stickums that we were
talking about it. Yeah, so so no, no, no, I'm
seeing in real time. As Calvin said, it just seems like,
you know, a feat that's beyond you know, physics, and
you know you're just reinventing the wide receiver position. But
now we you know, you have this altered substance and
so on and forth. It's the equivalent of Rob and baseball.
(16:58):
The pitchers they put the substance on their hat, you know,
and you know throughout the course of the game, it's
not it takes away again, it's performance enhancing, all right.
So that's that's how I view it. You know.
Speaker 6 (17:09):
Here's my thing, though.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Drake, Dre, Dre and Rob, I totally hear what you
guys are saying, once you were informed, you feel in
the light, you felt you felt cheated maybe a little
bit with the gloves, but everybody has the gloves and
not everybody's doing that. You've seen drugs, I mean gloves.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
But we've seen those great catches though, is what like
it's not at the time, but we've seen ten of
those now, like seriously, like we've seen incredible We've seen
great catches like that. Now it's commonplace, more commonplace.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Than it was.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
Uh, who's is this? We got don don in Michigan.
You're in the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Don?
Speaker 5 (17:52):
Hey, come from the up listen?
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Yessh talking Tuesday? Who in the hell is this other
Andre from Massachusetts?
Speaker 5 (18:01):
Everybody knows Andre.
Speaker 10 (18:03):
Call Hey everybody, Andre, thanks for taking a call.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
That was not and no, I know you know what
is funny. I looked at my earlier.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
I looked at the screen and I saw Massachusetts. I
could see that, but I couldn't see all the way
to the part that said name. So I guessed because
I saw Massachusetts and I thought it was Andre.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
It was my faults.
Speaker 10 (18:30):
Did you say sorry about that?
Speaker 6 (18:35):
Is it time for a new prescription? No?
Speaker 3 (18:37):
I mean, I just the screen is too far from me.
That's all, all right, Rob, I need my class, I
need my readers. Thanks a lot for the call. We
appreciate the call. No, I can still see. I just
got a new payer of classes.
Speaker 6 (18:49):
All right.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Well, we got a couple of minutes before we get
to training here. How how overall was an ABJ for you?
We didn't get a chance to talk about it. Everything
was good. I felt good about it. Part of you
will was in wait, wanna look good for that too?
Speaker 6 (19:01):
Right?
Speaker 5 (19:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:02):
And then I started putting it on because I started drinking,
and that.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
I didn't know who you were doing. All you had
to play. You had a bagel or something on it.
A biscuit is something, you had, drinks, you had some rice.
Speaker 6 (19:14):
I was, I don't even know who you are right now?
Speaker 3 (19:15):
I was, Yeah, I did good, a little crazy, but
I caught myself. I didn't go overboard. That's good because
I still got the October fourth on. So after October fourth,
I'll change a little.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
By the way, I told you this, and in real time,
I gotta tell everybody. Shout out to all the listeners
out there. Man, we had a bunch of young like
yo man, what's up. I'm like, oh, what's up? And
you know, you know how it is at those conventions
you don't know who you've talked to before. So I'm like,
is this somebody no? Or And they're like, oh, man,
I know who you are. Man, I love you, and Rob.
I'm like, oh man, I love you and Rob I
love the man. Y'all do is crazy? Man, you gotta
(19:49):
stay on robhead like a whole bunch of people.
Speaker 6 (19:51):
That was kind of crazy.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
It was a whole bunch of people showing up and
about thirty nine of your mentees.
Speaker 6 (19:59):
You gotta relax. Oh, I know, my gosh, you got
her lie crazy?
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Right? What did they say?
Speaker 6 (20:06):
You're like buying love? What are you doing it?
Speaker 1 (20:08):
I mean, everybody we're running up on me. Hey, man,
can I talk to you? I'm really trying to get
into business. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. And
by the way, I'm Rob one of Rob's Minty's. I'm like,
there's at least forty seven of y'all here.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
No, it's a little crazy.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
And and from the convention, if I told you, I'm
not even kidding you. I got people who continue to
recommend one of the one of my guys to Ron
who just graduated from Syracuse.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
No, Lie Kelvin.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
He has connected me with three or four more people
from Syracuse.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
Like you have to.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Let Rob mentor you know what I mean, because you
know you can say no, right, No, I can't say
no though. I can't say no because no one people
didn't say no to me when I was coming along.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
No, but someday not all I get that, you.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
Know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Yeah, you know I at it and I'm gonna do it.

and I was free stylingmer I did misremember. Let's rewind
the tape Alex file affair with J. R. Gamble coming

Speaker 8 (22:03):
And now from mlbdbro dot Com, here's JR.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Gambo.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
That's right, it is fouler fair.
Speaker 7 (22:09):
Here on the R Couple on Fox Sports Radio, a
segment we go around it.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
I haven't discussed all the biggest headlines that Major League Baseball,
nor do so properly.
Speaker 7 (22:17):
We had to bringing a guy who did some real
big last week, dropped off his kid in college, real
grown man type stuff, none other JR.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Gamble, what's up? What's up Draft Talking Tuesday?
Speaker 4 (22:32):
You mean he dropped off my godson.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Let's get it right, Rob g Oh snaps.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
Now I got mentees and god, I'm.
Speaker 6 (22:39):
Gonna say, rob many god kids?
Speaker 4 (22:41):
You got to how many do I have?
Speaker 6 (22:43):
Four?
Speaker 5 (22:44):
If they're out there, they're related to Robins.
Speaker 6 (22:47):
Some way, somehow, Jr. You don't understand I can't go nowhere.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
I'm thinking, I'm just like having a casual conversation at
the coffee shop next thing.
Speaker 6 (22:55):
I know.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Yeah, man, I was wondering if you could like maybe
help me out a little bit. Rob's one of my
Mitch or two? My gosh, how many are there?
Speaker 6 (23:04):
I'm sorry, I agree.
Speaker 7 (23:05):
I know all right, guys, I got three baseball stories,
and because JR. Is the star of the segment, he
gets the first crack and every single one.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
So let's get to it JR.
Speaker 7 (23:15):
Entering Monday, the Mets and Yankees were a combined thirty
eight and sixty two since June thirteenth. As a result,
both teams as of now currently find themselves on the
outside looking in with regards to the MLB playoff race.
Easy question for you. Foul or fair to say both
New York teams will wind up missing the postseason?
Speaker 4 (23:37):
That is a foul ball.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
I mean, despite the skids, both teams off a feeling
contention for the division. We're both just six games behind
and not having to jump over a lot of teams.
You know, just you know, get a nice little run.
You see how fast fans to change week the week
in baseball. As much as fans complain seele, I would
say that both the lock for one of those twelve
(24:02):
playoff spots, I mean, my goodness, and both are clearly
among the top ten to twelve teams in all the
baseball the New York fans are always planicing with in
situation twice as good as say, like the Athletics to
the White SoCs of the Orioles and any number of teams.
Two were thoughts. Haven't really stepped up for the Messlin
dogs been off of the late through the logos inconsistent,
said Mullins, has just you know, started getting his groove
(24:27):
on yet. So and the Yankee just need to run
off some wins. So come on, foul.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
I'm gonna say foul.
Speaker 6 (24:33):
That is foul ball.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
They're right there for wild Car. You have seven teams
that make the playoffs in each league. They're going to
make the playoffs. It's about getting in.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
I think they're not way out of the playoffs hunt there.
They might be right there or right one game below,
but they're definitely within striking right. There's seven weeks left
to the baseball season.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Plenty of times, Yeah, fin, I'm gonna tell you what
it is, a foul boy. We had to start of
the show, or at least one of our conversations about
the Padres how they caught up with the Dodgers. So
have it only being six games behind sounds crazy, but
you know, give it a bad week and a half,
they could be right back in this thing. And as
you mentioned, fitting on what you looking like, for instance,
the Mets, I mean there's not there's still hope within
(25:17):
the even outside of the own division, just in the
league as a whole. Sneaky in their card, yeah, wildcard.
So I'm looking at it as one of them for
sure should get in. Uh maybe both, but it's so
it's absolutely foul to think that they're both out of it.
Speaker 7 (25:31):
All right, that question was too easy, apparently, all right,
Number two Jr. Last night, the Milwaukee Brewers became just
the tenth team since nineteen sixty nine to have at
least two separate ten game winning streaks. In fact, the
Brewers currently have the best record in baseball, and they're
an obscene forty nine and sixteen since May twenty five.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Obvious question for you, foul.
Speaker 7 (25:53):
Or fair to say the brew crew should be the
favorite to represent dan AL in the World Serieslwaukee.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
No way, O J found that is a foul ball.
Speaker 5 (26:05):
I mean looks like a trick question. Because seventy four wings, right,
it's a lot of wins. But no one in the
AL has even reached seventy as of right now. So yeah,
that's a lot of wins. But unfortunately the Bruke crew
has been here before, right, Like, they're traditionally a strong
regular season team always to me, but ultimately they lack
the star power to defeat the Juggernall teams. They always
(26:27):
have these like nice you know, group of solid players
and with good pitching, but they won't any single other
stories this season fellas like robbing you out season Cooper,
Paul Marler or Princefielder. None of them walking through those dogs.
So they're not beating the Dodgers, and I think the
Padres would make quick work of them.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Yeah, I'm gonna say foul as that is a bill ball.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Just the history. They are eleven and thirteen in their
last twenty four playoff games, and they've had great seasons.
They've been good, Calvin for the four or five years
they've been good.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
If you go look at their regular.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Seasons and they always wind up choking it down in
the postseason. So they're one of those teams they should
be for Missouri. You gotta show me, you know before
I believe in the Brewers.
Speaker 6 (27:14):
Yeah, I think it's foul.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
I mentioned this to you, Rob and uh and uh
Rob g how that's one of those teams that, for
some reason the Dodgers have just struggled with. So I
do think they'll have They're probably like looking at their
chops like, man, you know we we would actually want to.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Say they've owned the Dodgers this year.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. So they're probably just I'm
saying that more so for JR. They may be one
of those teams to say, actually bring on the Dodger
For some reason. I don't know if it's their speed,
but they've been able to play well against the Dodgers.
But no, because it's a long postseason, right, things happen,
you gotta remain hot, things have to fall, Rob. So
for them to be the favorites, I absolutely think it's
(27:53):
filed for them to be the favorites. Could they be
a surprise team and make some noise, possibly, but favorites,
that's foul Yeah.
Speaker 7 (27:59):
Brewers all over the Dodgers like otwani on Hawaiian real
estate investors all right lost one Fowler Fair Jr. Gamble
sitting in with the I couple this.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
One to deserve.
Speaker 7 (28:10):
The Seattle Mariners retired each year those number fifty one
jersey over the weekend, which normally would not be too
big of a deal because he's a Hall of Famer.
And so you realize that they also plan to retire
Randy Johnson's number fifty one jersey next season. That's right,
Seattle will retire the same number fifty one twice in
consecutive years.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
Here, it is fowler fair to say now that each.
Speaker 7 (28:33):
Ye roads fifty one is officially retired, the Mariners should
not and no ot retire the big units fifty one.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
Fam That is a foul ball.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
Let me at this question. Randy Johnson is that guy right,
three hundred and three wins, second to Nolan Ryan all
time and strikeout, But this jersey should have been retired
well before each ye rows in my opinions, he did
discuss the situation with Johnson. God is blessing, but the
Strangth situation. But I don't see why you can't do it.
In fact, Fellas, they should erect the statue with Johnson
(29:08):
outside t Mobile Park because if WNBA legends sue Burg
can get a statue, then come on, think about it.
If five big tu Burg getting a statue of Kelvin
erected outside of Climbate pleasureenda, the whole city's in a
given move. In Seattle, you get a jersey time, you
get a statue too, Pleasure with the same number consecutive seasons.
That fits the team right now, everybody's getting something in Seattle.
Speaker 6 (29:33):
Yeah, you'll get a statue.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
Go ahead, Gud Kelvin, you got it.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
You know it's found that is a foul ball.
Speaker 6 (29:42):
We've got other examples of this.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Retired number eight for both catchers Bill Dickey and Yogi
ra We got the number thirty one for Greg Maddox
and Fergie Jenkins, so on. You got fifteen for Dick
McGuire and Earl Monroe.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
With the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
I mean, we have other examples of this where this
has happened. Now, that's a great point you bring up
about should they have done it earlier for Randy Johnson,
which also makes it interesting, what the uh what the
Nuggets are gonna do with that fifteen with Jokis and
Carmelo at some point, maybe that'll be interesting one as well.
But yeah, so I think it's five. We've had this
happen before.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
I'm gonna say fair.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
First of all, who's the equipment minedger giving out numbers?
When when Randy Johnson or somebody was great, you know
what I mean with wearing that, why would you give
that number out again? It wasn't like you didn't know
what Randy Johnson did or whatever before he showed up.
It's just weird. I would have been like I see
them give out numbers all the time. It would be like,
you know, like I think you should that should be
(30:41):
on the team to look at somebody and go, you
know what, one day, that guy's gonna have his number
of retire. We shouldn't give it out again. That's what
I say.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
It's strange, No, that it is really strange. Like it
wasn't like Randy Johnsons ain't it good?
Speaker 4 (30:53):
He was really good.
Speaker 6 (30:55):
He was really good like the and it's weird.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
The same thing happened again with Carmelo, Like no, he said, Carmelo, like,
is you know top five every damba ever. But I'm
saying for the Nuggets, he's one of your best players ever.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
You know you're gonna retire it?
Speaker 4 (31:08):
Watch you just get about Carmelo?
Speaker 3 (31:10):
To be honest, did you were you sure?
Speaker 4 (31:12):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (31:13):
Like in his case, I get where he fit in,
But but did you know they didn't win anything when
he was there?
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Do you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (31:19):
Like it was but he was insane about the top
two three player for like eight years.
Speaker 5 (31:25):
I don't know if they're going to retire the number.
I guess they don't want. None of those guys are
gonna change their number, you know
Speaker 1 (31:31):
So all right, all I appreciate you, Bro,
